How about having fow armour

To be honest, the Fissure of Woe armors did not look very good.
Monk and Ranger were very plain and boring, Elementalist looked like the standard Elementalist armor with some spikes, Mesmer was also plain with some spikes, Necromancer was alright, though they had some of the best light armor sets in the game, and I’d love to see some of the Necromancer armors back,
Assassin was just a jumpsuit with some knifes, so no thanks, Ritualist was pretty neat with all the stuff hanging around and all those little details…
Then we have Dervish and Paragorn, and both of those armor aren’t really worth it.

We already have armors that need a similar material grind / general grind (dungeon armor and ascended) as the FoW Armors in GW1. I don’t mind armor sets that need grinding, but I’m not a fan of the timegated materials for ascended.

So yes to armor that are prestigious and need some farming and skill, but a BIG no to the old FoW designs.
I mean just look at the Fow Warrior armor. Ain’t nobody who wants to run around like a pinecone nowadays.

Though in german it sounds even better, “Eisen schützt, nicht falsche Götter”, which is more like “Iron grants protection, false gods don’t”

…and I don’t even have a single Charr Charakter.

Legendary Howler Bug [merged]

Sankekur.9182

I am at the moment working on my first legendary (been playing since launch, but I never really had the desire to make a legendary… always wanted to make Kraitkin, but since they have completely abandoned underwater combat, I don’t see any worth in it anymore), and I actually really wanted to make Howler, I really like warhorn on my ranger and I really like warhorn on my necro and sometimes I even like warhorn on my warrior from time to time. But seeing as they took away so much from Howler, and nobody of the team stepped up and said something yet, I am actually thinking about making Bolt now, even though I don’t like swords on any character very much.
I find it sad that responses from devs are so scarce. There is the occasional Gaile Gray comment, and even those are rarely helpful. I really don’t like the communication between devs and the playerbase. And, though this might just be me and my bitterness towards the whole communication politics, I think that whenever there is a topic regarding changes to the gemstore, whether it be new item ideas, basically anything that can be put in the store to make more money, is answered quickly, while other things are suggested and reported for over a year, yet there isn’t even one person saying a word about the issue.

That’s actually a nice Idea. Of course, there would, as always with anything that is suggested for “pet-improvements”, be people that say, oh no, this is unnecesary, pets are only for rangers, yada yada yada, but I would love this. Of course, I am still all for a set of options to toggle particle, swirl, footsteps, auras, and whatever else there is on or off, so people who’d be annoyed by pet auras could turn them off, but yes. This idea +1

I really like this idea.

I take the whole “they can’t add new things because it qould take too long to ballance” with a bitter taste. sure, it is work, but it was way more work in gw 1, and they managed that quite well with some minor exceptions.

so, seeing as they simply don’t want to spend more time balancing things, adding skins that create an illusion of being something else, like the christmas slingshot are the way to go.
The dreamthistle hammer is one of my favourite skins, because the edge is so thin that it might be an axe.

So more skins like that would be great. Some whip like skins for daggers, greataxes for hammers or greatswords, and more interesting stuff i cant think of atm. would be great.

if the dreamthistle weapons wouldn’t be at 800g , i’d have bought one ages ago

Yes, I know that there is snow in some areas of the world from time to time, same with rain,
but I want a deeper system than “15 minutes of snow, and then 15 minutes of sunshine”.

Like somebody said before: At first, you have sunshine, but then some clouds show up, the skies darken, rain sets in, and all that turns into a full thunderstorm, with lightning striking down from the heavens, and so on.

I’m not sure how often this has been adressed before, but since the search function is utter kitten, and I don’t want to read through dozens of pages on the forums, so I’ll just make this new thread.

I really like the fact that there is day and night – even though the difference is really only very slight, and I usually only realize them with sylvari glow and the AC weapons.

So, if it is possible to implement a day and night cycle, why isn’t there weather? The human intro with the rain in Queensdale.

I can see that snow would be too much effort to implement for only a few minutes, but rain, more intense sunlight and storm would be rather easy. There’s also room for special events, like escorting people to shelter… or whatever that would be more interesting than that.

I’m guessing the concept might look a bit like this:

Imagine hang-gliding as the high-jump from metroid.

You are standing on a ledge in the Canopes, and you see another ledge a bit away from you, where you see other players fighting a mordrem boss. You want to take part in the battle, so you jump from your ledge and try to glide over there, but oh-oh: Your Gliding Mastery isn’t as advanced as it needs to be in order to glide that far. So now you know: Something is there, but you cannot enter, until later, when you practiced your hanggliding. So you walk around in the jungle, get better at gliding, until, boom: you are now strong enough to hold on to your glider long enough to get there.

Another Scenario could be with the mastery in which you learn the languages of the cultures in Maguuma:
There is a hefty battle in a small village in the jungle, and it is about to be overrun. But since you spent some time in the jungle, learning the languages of the villagers, you can enter the Chieftains hut, and are able to talk to him, or maybe read in a tome about a secret tunnel leading out of the village trough an old tree, into the underground layer of the jungle, and back to to surface in a safe distance. This opens different possibilieties when you fight in this certain village – remember, this is just a way I image parts of the new map… even more “how I would like the new map to work”. Let’s say it’s a Hylek Village. You enter the village, and spend some time there, talking, learning, discovering secrets, you learn to read their language via “Lore Mastery”. You gather information regarding an attack by the mordrem, so you try to get sieges ready, equip the villagers, bring the civilians to safety. Maybe you can fight the mordrem back, but maybe they are too strong, so you have to find another way, blowing them up as a last resort, or like I said, finding information about secrets that could safe the people. So now, that you know of said tunnel, you get another event: warn the villagers. Instead of further trying to fight the mordrem, you have to talk to as many villagers as possible before the time runs out and the chieftain closes the tunnel for good. You then failed the “attack event” and are in maybe half an hour (which is a lot in ingame time) able to get a group of fighters to take the village back.

So, after I finally got lucky with my Coat Boxes yesterday, got two in two runs
First two are with the Orange Refractor, plus 2x Ambrite axe (I only got axes and shield, and sadly, my poor little ranger girl cannot use shields…), complete luminescent armor with flame-dye (which looks a lot darker in the preview window sadly) and of course the preserved bee queen.
In order to compare the two, another screenshot with the same armor, just without the Refractor.

(EU) Organising Silverwastes - [SW]

in Looking for...

Posted by: Sankekur.9182

Sankekur.9182

Hello fellow Walkers of the Silverwastes,

I am trying to build up a Guild that organises the Silverwastes on a regular basis,
called the Guardians of the Silverwastes (for lack of a better name),
with experienced Commanders for the forts, sturdy bodyguards for the bulls endlesly wandering from tower to tower, strong warriors to hold back the forces of Mordremoth, and, of course, quick treasure hunters uncovering the lost bandit chests.

I want this to be a little more “Casual” Guild, so no 100% rep, but rather “Represent whenever you are in the Silverwastes”, with the ranks being a Guild Leader with basically no “special treatment” – only being able to change lower ranks, and, until enough trust is earned by the commanders, being the only one able to activate banners. Things like guild banks and showing the banners are alright for every member to do.
Then, the forementioned Commanders. At this point, I guess most people could be “commander” for a fort, but are just too lazy to tag up. A Commander in this guild should be willing to tag up and show others the way, be a person that can be asked questions and that answers in a nice and polite fashion, not just yell “check wiki and dulfy”, ad of course also know the different mechanics for the bosses.

So it is actually just a way to get active people into the silverwastes. At the moment, there are a lot of people afking until breach, or at least 60-70% progress. I would love this map to be active, living, breathing.

If you share my vision, please feel free to write me a message, my main’s name is Lissa Nonoka.

At the moment, I still have all the commander ranks to give to you, so try your best

So recently, while trying to get my Lumi Coat boxes (I still don’t have a second and third one), I got really lucky and looted the preserved bee queen amulet.
And I must say, I just love the effect on this thing.
So, for my proposal, I say we need more things like these. I’ve seen the Poly-Luminecent thingies, and their idea is nice, but not nearly as cool as those bees.
There is a lot of potential for this kind of item, i.e. a smoke effect like the Tequatl Ascended Weapons have, seeping kitten like the ascended armor pieces you can get from triple trouble, maybe a flame effect (though I’m not a big fan of this, but hey, there surely are people that like it!), so many things.
Of course, the effects should be decent and not put the legendaries to shame, but that shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

And I don’t want the droprate of these things to change in any way! Sure, there are a lot more people that want this thing than there are people that can afford it at the prices at the moment, but still, the same thing is true for legendaries.

Keeping Silverwastes alive

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Sankekur.9182

So, seeing as most people are pretty much done with the Luminescent Armor Achievements (I unfortunately am not, I already got 2 of the bee queen amulets, and I have yet to get even one coat box, yeah, gotta love that rng…), Silverwastes are starting to get more and more empty. Two months ago, the lfg was filled with groups offering SW 50%, SW 30% 4 Comms, Organising new SW need Comms, etc., and now, I am struggeling to find even one SW20% lfg, and I am even able to easily enter “SW Vinewrath” groups and maps. (this is for EU Servers, I have no Idea how’s it going on american servers, but I can only assume it’s kinda like this.)
But I really like the Silverwastes. Defending Forts is fun, using siege weapons in PvE is fun, hunting burried treasures is fun.
The amount of chests you can get is staggering, it puts FGS and EotM to shame.
But still, people lose interest.

So, here is my approach:
I was thinking about a Guild, one, that is not 100% rep, with rep only needed when in the SW in order to sustain the Guild Points… I forgot the english word, that is specifically for farming the Silverwastes: A Guild Leader, organising the whole thing and with access to the upgrades, banners, etc. (just to ensure nobody abuses the points the guild earned), but more importantly, the Guild Commanders: those members that are able to Tag up, and have knowledge of the siege weapons, the different bosses, be it breach or vinewrath, the labyrinth, and, maybe most importantly, the chest farm routes.

So, it would work a little something like this: The Leader finds a map that is close to start – and group up with his four commanders. Those then go to their respective camps (yeah, two will have to take one for the team and tag up at blue and indigo…) and start taxiing people from the guild in. The map fills with guildies, all people that are interested in doing the Silverwastes. Then, teams for defending forts, and teams for escorting the bulls are made, and the forts are being defended. Then the breach happens, yada yada yada, kill the bosses, clear the wp for the labyrinth and then get the groups in even teams to the Vinewrath lanes. Finish this stuff as well, and you already have a lot of shovels, a lot of crests- hence a lot of keys, some keys for the labyrinth and even the free boxes next to the big chest.
Then, the guild takes a short break, opening the big chest in the labyrinth for the seed pouches and rares, and then, the “Chest Farm Commander” tags up to start the train. There is a lot of time (20ish minutes after finishing the Vinewrath I think?) to do the train, and you do get a buff, improving your MF for bandit chests in the silverwastes. Oh and you can of course do the coiled or something but nobody cares about that…
And then the thing starts all over again.

So, first of all: Am I even in the right sub-forum? I can’t really say. I was thinking maybe this sub forum for the Ingame-Events, but it doesn’t seem so fitting, and the Looking-for Subforum… I don’t know. All of these seem like not as frequently visited and stuff. So if it is wrong here, sorry.

Secondly: Are there even enough people who would be interested in something like this? I mean I have never heard of a FGS-Farming Guild or anything, but I can really Imagine this thing working out. With enough people this could really work -
occassionaly doing Bounty, Race and other Mission stuff, just to get a bit of diversity and, of course, merits.

I will, just for fun, make a Guild like this right now, EU Servers. The Guild’s name is “Guardians of the Silverwastes” (for lack of better a name) and the guild short sign is [SW] (as it is the most well known shortword for the Silverwastes)

If you are interested, send a message to “Lissa Nonoka”, Banner is already in the works, as well as a bank etc, etc.

More Pets

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sankekur.9182

Sankekur.9182

How come so many topics in this forum that are about adding new things to the game have somebody talk about “no, anet shouldn’t waste resources on things that are purely aesthetical”- whether it is about new legendaries, new ranger pets, new armor, new races, new weapon designs, new anything, that isn’t a new skill, map or function (well, that actually goes without saying.)
This game is soo much about asethetics and style. You can have a norn warrior covered in pink armor with cyber-glasses, two Moots, and you can roll with it.
When I was in a thread about a new race, people said “This won’t add a thing to the game except visuals, no need” – but think about it – a new race brings new lore, new story bits and pieces, new (if only a few) racial skills, a new city and starting area to explore, and, of course, new visuals, but that is not one of the main reasons.

As for pets, there is still a lot of untapped potential. Ogres can tame griffons, which is for whatever reason impossible for smaller than the ogres, yes, even the charr. Though you can buy the Ogre Pet Whiste, which allows you to summon a random Ogre Pet. And if you’re lucky, it’s a Griffon. So no problem there.

Then there are those two Asura from the PS in Orr, and I have no clue who they are and what they do (since I don’t give a chainsaw about Asura) who have a raptor with them that even has a cute little name.

There are so many interesting creatures that wouldn’t be too big for your average ranger, where I don’t see why we wouldn’t be able to tame them.

And heck, make it harder to get certain pets. In Gw1, in order to tame the black Moa, you had to have done a certain Kurzick Quest and then be fast enough to tame it, similar as with the White Moas, who had a low chance of spawning once you exited Sifhalla in EotN. This concept is hard to do since there are no instances in GW2 – except for Dungeons. And a slim chance of encountering a special pet in each dungeon is a nice Idea. Make the RNG on encountering it not too hard, and boom.

Or add pets at the end of dungeons. Add them at the end of JPs. Add them in Certain Parts of the PS/LS Instances. Give us something like the Zaishen Menagerie. That was a calming place, like an adventure Zoo.

There is a lot of ways you can implement pets that don’t just stand there – that actually are kind of challengeing and make the pet something “special”. I kinda feel that way about my reef drake, because I didn’t really like the SSunCove, and had a hard time finding it.
For the Raptors you could for example have an event chain which ends up opening the way to a Raptors nest with lots and lots of raptors and a broodmother, and once you are done with them, you are able to tame the juveniles.

Elite cultural/order/profession armor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sankekur.9182

Sankekur.9182

That is a great Idea!
I really liked the way you had to obtain the rank of the different culutres in EotN, fighting for them, gaining some kind of “recognition” among the Asura, Norn and whatsoever, until you were worthy of wearing their armor.
The “prestige armors” in gw2 (t3 Cultural) cost about 10 bucks. There is no prestige, and no need to farm materials and money to get them. In GW1 you had to bring the right materials to the armor smith to claim your piece of prestige. And the armorsmiths in Propecies were far off, Marhans Grotto and whatever that other place’s name that I can’t remember right now is, places that were kinda hard to reach… Some of the prestige armors in factions were only obtainable in the end credits for the last mission.
Why isn’t this a thing?
Why are the merchants for the dungeons in Lion’s Arch, instead of standing somewhere in their respective dungeons? Why are the three cultural armor vendors right in the middle of their cities? Wouldn’t it be more fun to have a little challange to get to them?

So, I say yes to all kinds of new racial armor, I say yes to all kinds of new order armor, I say yes to new pact armor, I say yes to more armor that you obtain like you get Carapace and Lumi armor, all this stuff that acutally means “I did something to get this piece of equipment!” and not just “yeah I bought 800 gems and traded them in for the gold I needed to buy this awesome armor. Instantly.”

This has been brought up in the past as well, I think it was about the long cutscenes you had to watch over and over again for the Trampling and Rodeo Achievements in the last Living World Chapter.

A dev said it had something to do with the positioning of NPCs in the game, for sake of having them in right position to do what they are supposed to do after the cutscene – and that they decided to work more with actual Cutscenes rather than using the Voiceover and Text for explaining plot as seen in your personal story.

Take some time and you will learn the patterns and behaviour of all those stupidly strong monsters- even the flower-dogs.
And you won’t die if you try to res anyone. Unless you pay no attention to your surroundings.
As for the short periods between sieges, I have to disagree. The time it takes to fight back an attack, the repair you walls by bringing stuff to the forts master and then helping one or two of those dolyaks or whatever they are from one fort to another is a great way to bring some variety into the map. Non-stop sieges are no fun.
Concerning Dry Top, I’ll give you the point, now it’s really hard to get a t5 map. It happens from time to time, but not as frequently as when the map was introduced, and the novelty has worn off. Most people who want their ambrite-weapons got them at this point (even me, and I tried to get into DT seriously for the first time when sw was introduced)
And of course, people will always find tricks to make progress faster and more efficient, because, and let’s be honest here – it would be a horrible chore if you had to grind 1000 events for the bandit crests you need for an armor piece.

New Weapons

I’m all for spears on land. And not the paragon throwing spears, but actuall medium range spears. Somewhere between 400 and 900 range.

Just think of all the fun things you could do, covering the spears blade in poison, do fast stabs with extra damage if you flank your enemy, maybe a small chance to blind enemy when you crit or something… Defensive moves like the Ranger Axe 5.
Warrior and Guardian: wield the spears in one hand, with a shield or whatever in the other one. Maybe even change the skill combination depending on whether you use a shield or idk a focus on your left hand, like with the thief.
For Ranger it could work like the often suggestes staffs, basically giving them a way to be more in tune with nature…
Casters, well, I guess Ele could use another weapon, maybe like a PBAoE weapon but I don’t really know. Kinda like the newest Ele Heal skill.
____
And we definitely need two handed battle axes. I was actually saving up for the Dreamthistle Hammer as it looks more like a battleaxe than a hammer, but with the price skyrocketing I guess I can forget that one
But yeah, for warrior a condition heavy weapon, with a speed somewhere between hammer and greatsword, many whirly attacks, though it might be too similar to the GS if you screw that up. Considering other classes using the battleaxe, I can’t really imagine the Guardian with one, the Engineer neither, elementalist nope, maybe the Necro. But here I am not sure about how the weapon would work, since I don’t have a high level nec.
And I am all for whips! Thieves, Necromancers, Warriors, maybe even Mesmers (with a skill similar to Illusion of Drowning… Illusion of Suffocation?). I was thinking maybe Ranger, but honestly, Rangers do love their pets, and I don’t think they should be whipped.

If don’t really want to look through thousands of posts, so sorry if some of that has been brought up already.
I really really want the Vampiric Dragon Sword from GW1.
To be honest, I would like a lot of the weapon designs from gw 1 again. They are less “cartoony” and more realistic. And, this is kinda off topic, but, dare I say it, I would like new weapon skins that are NOT aquired from Gemstore and are NOT aquired from BL Tickets!
And more armor sets from GW1. The Kurzick and Luxon Light armors, and the Druid Armors for Ranger. Like the Kryta Medium Armor Skin.

Sankekur.9182

I would love new legendaries.
Up to this point, I wasn’t really interested in gathering the materials and gold for one in a serious way, except for the Kraitkin which I really really REALLY wanted.
The thing is, most of them seem goofy and out of place. Kudzu is fine, by no means a design I would die to have, the Hammer and the Flameseeker Prophecy are pretty cool (though I think that Flameseeker would be the perfect shield for Guard, but the constant virtues and aegis ruin the whole thing), the Horn and the Torch also meet my taste. But the others, dear lord. Moot looks like garbage, the pistols are just pathetic, the Dreamer is just… I don’t know I like the Idea but… the swords makes me wanna vomit, and I know that I’m probably alone on this, I really can’t stand the designs of neither of the great swords, don’t get me started on the harpoon-gun. the axe is like… what the hell. I am really very very hard to satisfy in this regard, but I’m an aesthetics player and I especially like it when stuff fits with the lore, and as a hardcore GW1 Player I would love some designs that actually had something to do with the first game.
Sure, there aren’t that many iconic weapons from GW1 that could be used, but at least the few that are there would be nice. Shiro’s Blades as daggers for example. Or the Scepter of Orr. Then there’s the Spear of Archemorus, and last but not least, the Vampiric Dragon Sword.

So sorry about the rant but I really hate the bubbly plastic and glitter super colourful legendaries. I don’t want to offend anyone who likes these designs, but I would prefer some more lore-friendly legendaries.

So, I played the Ranger since launch, and I went out of my way to get every single pet there is. I was really excited when I saw the Reef Drake in the Southsun Cove. However, this is, as far as I know, the last Pet to be added to the game. And The Lost Shores was released November 2012.

So why don’t we get new pets? In GW1, we had Phoenixes, Tigers, Lurker Crabs, Crocodiles, Rats, Lions… And sure, they’re all from Cantha and Elona, but seriously, there are so many ways those animals couold’ve found their way to Tyria.
And even if you wouldn’t want animals from Tyria in the kitten nal of the rangers, why don’t you add Rock Dogs? Nightmare Court Hounds?

And while were on the topic of pets, why don’t they grow with my ranger? In GW1, pets became bigger in size with every level, if anyone remembers the Rainbow Phoenix, that beast was huge at level 20! So what happened to that? And why not add at least one or two new skills for every pet? I mean, my Drake sure has claws as well, so why can’t he use a claw that inflicts bleeding, in case I wouldn’t want him to use Sonic Shriek any more. Just saying.
And hey, honestly, if you would put the only tameable version of, let’s just use the Nightmare Court Thorn Wolf, as an example, said Wolf at the end of the second path of the Twilight Arbor, I would gladly do that.

CDI- Guilds- Guild Halls

The system should, in essence, be like in Guild Wars 1 – every Guild with at least a bit of money, or, even better, influence (but please. stay away from guild merrits, because you basically steal smaller guilds the possibility to experience the whole game. I am the leader of a smaller Guild, we are around 10 people and play together once or twice a week at max, and we don’t have a single guild merrit.)
There should be the possibility to choose the environment the hall is located in, like in an old mine, one of the little fortresses in the maguuma jungle, a pirate or bandit hideout with a ship, or a cave that must be entered via water, a lá Order of Whispers,
Crafting areas for all professions, which can be purchased for gold or maybe even built in a lenghty series of crafting stuff, I wouldn’t mind if I had to combine around 400 items for a crafting area, that would at least be a fun project for the guild.
Give us the possibility to have fights with our guild members in the hall, which, of course, should be instanced. It could be placed in the mists and entered via a portal stone, like the one for the hall of monuments in the eye of the north.

The most important aspect is the possilbility for every guild, no matter how big or small, to achieve a full guild hall, with things that are easy to access, so no gems, no merrits, just gold, crafting material and influence.

You then could visualize some of the upgrades – the guild vault, the secret cave, heck even the asura helping you with building new upgrades and banners, rooms like dining halls, places for sleeping…

Or, how about more in-game armour at all?
Seriously, except for the ascended set, there were no new armor sets added to the game, safe for the gem store ones, which i don’t count because… well… they’re from the gem store.
