Jacaranda and Iboga will receive the same treatment as Smokescale and Bristleback.
Here’s another question: Do you want to deal with pets or not?
^That’s what I thought. Or at least why I favor GS over Sword/X. I find Hornet Sting -> Turn About -> Monarch’s Leap to be very clunky.
I suppose the problem with GS is that it’s more of a jack-of-all-trades power weapon. It has a mix of dmg, defense, and utility packed into its kit.

Depends on your gear, I remember awhile back that in PvE a speed-clearing guild concluded that pets make up 15-20% of your DPS assuming full zerkers.
What gave you the idea that gattaiing with the pet gives you all of its attributes? Ranger would then become most op profession, with Rapid Fire and Maul powered by 4k unbuffed power + 100% unbuffed crit chance.
I just hope that entering and exiting Beastmode counts as a pet swap for purposes of traits.
Well it makes sense because right now the pet swap traits work when you enter combat with the pet stowed, so it should be the same, at least when you exit Beastmode.
Honestly GS has come a long way. I remember back at launch when Maul did as much as pre-buff Power Stab + some bleeds. Yeah it was that bad because the auto did most of the damage just like sword back in the beta and Anet nerfed it just prior to launch.
Nah I can envision mainhand pistol as a foil to mainhand axe just like mainhand dagger and sword.
As for rifle, someone’s gotta come up with a good skillset because I can’t see any roles it can fulfill that both bows can’t.
Never thought I’d see the day that people complain about GS…
I can see making stowing pet permanent, but compensation for doing so? Ehh, that’s opening a can of worms.
If you’re getting Zerker, consider getting the Grenth Temple armour (costs 252k karma and cannot be salvaged), and save your gold for other things.
To answer OP’s question, Druid will be balanced when the class becomes useful in large-scale combat.
I wanna ask you all if you disagree. Why you all druids keep using bristleback and smokescale if that pets are not OP?
Same reason as why people use all classes but Guardian in PvP in the last season? \ o.0 /
Why are people so hung up about the ranger’s image?
Only problem is, the skill is still “bugged”, since it does 20 hits instead of 15 as listed in tooltip.
This class suffers from serious image issues…
Do people here also agree with buffing the other pets?
I’m all for nerfing both Bristleback and Smokescale, but people need to pay attention to pet when fighting rangers.
I’m all for nerfing those two, but I also wish that people take a look at vanilla pets. When’s the last time non-wolf pets are taken in PvP?
Better off asking for a buff on GS auto and move its evade to sword auto.
If I want a bursty F2, I can always take birds.
this would be a very nice addition to pet customization. but I imagine they don’t have the resources and the time to implement this.
They have resources to nerf but none for meaningful changes?!
Y’know what? I think the devs do have a vision for ranger, and it’s one where ranger is a brainless class to play.
You do realize rangers can switch targets in the middle of RF with this change yes?
If they’re gonna remove the pet in downed state, they’re gonna have to rework the skills to take the pet outta the equation.
I’d say Teq, maybe Karka Queen, and whatever’s on Daily.
^Well camouflage was terrible. At least they switched it to stealth before axing the trait.
All I want is more control and less reliance on AI.
Oh and tweak some of the F2s while you’re at it.
No why?
Guardians have begged for a true ranged weapon other than scepter, and now they finally have one, even if DH could use more tweaks.
As for us, we finally have something that we can do just as well, if not better than other classes, instead of the other way around.
Why don’t you play it instead of asking us then?
If you have a problem with me asking your welcome to not enter to post at all:)
If you spend the time playing instead, you actually get an even better answer than here.
Well maybe I do not want to waste my time playing a class being shoehorned into playstyles because of a mentality.
Then advertise your own LFG, instead of joining those that say “Zerk only” or “Meta plz.”

This. I want stow to be seen as part of control.
What I really want is for a dev to come in and tell us whether it is broken or not.
You’re better off asking for buffs for GS.
We aren’t lacking in quantity; we’re lacking in quality. Outside of WK, I’m not impressed with our condi removal options.
HS: Needs to be fixed.
EB: Overnerfed at the height of BM Bunker almost two years ago.
Signet of Renewal: Active needs to rely less on pet.
Shake It Off: It’s on a bear, but I suppose this makes brown bear the most useful of all bears.
So if you interrupt it yourself, it goes full CD?
Is this suppose to be in combat only? I tried it outside combat, and RF goes in full CD.
^If I recall, he’s also one of, if not the first, to come up with Frost Spirit + Spotter.
You don’t have to be smart to see that a skills and traits that buff a party work together. Many people, including myself saw the skills and planned to use them together, before launch.
So why aren’t people running the build back then instead of complaining that the class has no place in dungeons?

Hey I don’t mind sacrificing longbow to make our “defensive” melee options more offensive…
Bump, I really want to see this change in-game.
^Sure let’s add a tell and make the evade come in 1.5s!
I think a Ranger leaping towards you without a big eagle animation is a decent tell already.
He’s asking for the stun to be on HS, not ML.
^Sure let’s add a tell and make the evade come in 1.5s!
^That sounds interesting; it does give you more control.
^Yeah.
TL;DR version: Remove the stabbing on HS and buff ML damage to compensate.
I don’t think I have explained this properly, and I apologize.
When I meant axing the stab animation, I did not mean the rollback animation as well. In other words, the new HS will behave like Ele’s Burning Retreat.
Dunno if this has been suggested before, but here it goes:
I propose axing the stabbing animation on Hornet Sting (renaming the skill to Hornet’s Defense or something appropriate) and merging the associated damage into Monarch’s Leap.
Why: If I want that evade, I want it NOW, not .5s later. I can’t really count on Serpent’s Strike due to the length of CD.
Other benefits: It also improves sword mobility. I mean, I find that people with swiftness can still outrun you even if you use HS+turn around+ML, assuming you don’t have swiftness yourself. This also gives sword some burst aside from pairing it with offhand axe. I think this will also offer some counter-play and even improve skill ceiling. The evade serves as a tell for ML, but you can HS, then attempt to bait out your target’s dodge, and finally hit ’em hard with the improved ML.
Potential downside: The improved ML will probably make GS look worse, but that’s a separate topic altogether.
Thoughts?
Rapid fire seems like it should belong on short bow. The mechanics are for quick close hits. Long bow seems like it should have a longer “Kill Shot” type ability. Maybe an “Aimed Shot” that hits for high DPS.
This is exactly why it should be on LB. LB autos deal more damage on long range than rapid fire but if you close in you drop damage. This is when you are supposed to rapid fire.
Too many stupid people just rapid fire in PvE when ever it is up which actually lowers their dps when they were shooting on long range. In pvp you use it because LB autos might get blocked by aegis and stuff like that or short weapon evades.
I’m pretty sure with the channel compressed, RF is a DPS increase. Less time channeling = more time pewpewing on autoattack.
As others have said, when other ranged weapons get “fixed.”
The pet management UI needs options for sorting.
