The flaw of Ascended Weapon Boxes

Lol, I have to disagree with you. Choosing the weapon is a good thing. A Assassin one may be useless for X class, but is useful for my Y class.

Now let’s face the other situation. You get a torch. Your main doesn’t use torch. Your second most played toon doesn’t use a torch. Maybe only your 4th toon, a level 20 guardian is able to use a torch. But you don’t think torches are good for what you are planning when he gets lvl 80.

Cleric stats is useless for your toons, but at least you won’t end up with a weapon that you won’t use at all if you could choose the stats.
Anyway, just throw it away. No stress, the system is working well. Imagine if you could not choose either the weapon or the stats

Honestly not being able to choose weapon or stat isent much different that how it currently is. End result will be the same. You throw it out. Unless you get a useful stat crafted exotics will outperform.

Will we ever get content which rewards SKILL!

There are tons of issues with developing hard content.

There’s the fact that most people will simply not do hard content. Because if it’s hard, that usually translates to tons of failures, which isn’t fun for most people. So developing hard content isn’t a good way to allocate limited developer resources.

There’s the fact that the people asking for hard content are not content with just difficulty, they also want rewards. That much is obvious with people complaining about Liadri and Fractals, both of which are typical “difficult” content but their rewards are not “up to par”.

There’s the fact that most of the new stuff will now come with achievements and that comes with the achievement locusts. If it’s hard content, the achievement locusts complain that they’re being “robbed” of points and that they’re unable to keep up with the other high AP players because of that.

I remember back in the day when you completed hard content and your only reward was “The princess is in another castle”. I sure didn’t start writing angry letters to Nintendo for that one, I just kept going on.

Gw2 already caters to ppl who dont like that hard core content, there r plenty of things to do in the game which arent difficult. Just bc the majority of players dont like hard core content doesnt mean it shouldnt be added in a game. If they add a hard mode dungeon once every 6 months, they will have time to pump out this mindless grind, which its seems to me u like, for the ppl who want this easy mode time consuming content and also gain more players, which there is a bunch of just not in gw2 bc there is no hard core content! who like hard core content.

When ur playing Mortal combat for example, do u expect to be rewarded with items and gold bc u can beat the final boss on hard? no bc the game isnt built like that. on the other hand with gw2 being a MMO, a huge part of the game is the rewards. when ur playing a MMO its only natural to be rewarded for doing harder content and being better at the game. instead of u saying oo y do u have to be rewarded for doing hard content?! y dont u ask y do i only get rewarded for putting so many hours in the game?!

Thing is most people asking for hard content wont play it even if it came out because it wouldent provide any extra incentive to play it over anything out in the world. People claim they want hard content but in truth most just want the epic loot that they have come to expect from such content.

That being said im fine if they want to put in some epic hard content. I just realize that after people realize it does not give them the loot they expect it will be dead content.

Rather not as my current gs skins are better than the ascended ones.

I had way too much Karma, that I was running out of things to use it on. Over 7 million from the start of the game until now. And that’s only a fraction of the Karma gains of some players.

I’m glad they reduced the output. With Karma being so easy to get, it made it less desirable to get. Plus, now that there’s no Karma gain from failed events, that gives more incentive to people to actually succeed for the awards.

I say “Good Job” Anet. A well welcomed change.

The only problem is karma was not the reason people were failing the events. Mob drops were. It in no way really cures that problem.

Very true, but karma gained from failed events were so small that i won’t miss them either way. Removing the jugs of karma from daily and monthly achievements however is going to severely hamper me.

Oh i agree. Going from 40000 min for monthly to 6000 was a bit of a slap to the face.

GW2 is cpu heavy. You can get away with lower end gpu but if you want to not lag all over the place make sure your cpu can keep up. That being said 2 gb of ram i honestly feel is to low to play reliably. 4-6 gb would be much better to ensure that you dont max out your ram.

TIL casuals are even bigger morons than I initially thought.

Agree with Bright. A much better design would be to make it a predefined weapon but you get to choose the stats. Or just allow the box to be tradable. Can they be salvaged? If they can then atleast getting a box isnt completely useless, if not then its an even more serious issue of stupid design.

Aiming that statement at casuals is a bit rude. I for one am part of this casual crowd and am defending this topic. Im tired of people looking at things and instantly trying to pass anything and everything as casual/hardcore. This effects casual’s just as much if not more than hardcore players given we casual’s tend to have less time to play than hardcore. Thats honestly the only viable difference between hardcore and casual.

That being said as the boxes are now yes they should have been able to be sold on the tp. Frankly i wouldent use a magi on my gear but i know people out there do. If support is how they like to play I see no reason with it and would be more than happy to pass an useful item off to them instead of deleting it, or vender trakitten.

The only thing useless is a closed mind. After a year of playing, I still don’t get the mentality of Zerker or nothing.

Ascended was created to give us something to spend our time on. Thus, the boxes are working perfectly because you’ll have to keep going to get the stats you want. Heck, if I was dev, I would put the drop rate of Zerker to 10% or less. This would be to take up players time longer and to encourage them to try other builds.

Thing is a lot of us have tried other builds. A lot of us have had over a year to try new builds. That being said in that time you learn what works for you and what does not. Im not going to magically just change my build because i got some uber weapon that has useless stats. Honestly im just going to throw it away. Atleast with exotic’s i can turn it into gold to buy an item that is actually useful. With ascended drops thats not the case. If they can be muted i guess thats something i can do with them. If not its simply to the trash for atleast half of the ascended weapons out there for me personally.

Getting the ‘zerk or go home’ vibe here. If the content you play only has room for one build, perhaps you’ll manage to scrape by against those oh-so-dangerous mobs you want the 5% gain to min-max against. (If this isn’t the case forgive the condescending tone.)

If you WvW and have enough classes at your disposal to put any weapon to good use, I can’t imagine you can’t cobble together something that fills a useful role outside of a crit build.

If you refuse to play anything other than direct damage dps, I suppose other stat combos really are useless to you, but that’s not a failing of game design.

Consider an ascended drop outside your normal playstyle as encouragement to branch out a bit.

Thing is there are stat combo’s that just dont work. Im not with the zerk or get out crowd. Personally i use a few different combo’s. But that being said i’ve spent close to 1100 hours of game play refining my play style. By this point i know what works with my build and what does not. As many have pointed out ill take an exotic with proper stats over an ascended that has useless stats any day. The exotic will out perform the ascended. Honestly a rare likely would.

One thing about guardian. You wont really have any ranged option. If you love melee we are a total beast. While others are running from a mob odds are guardians will be right there face to face with it. Overall i have a guardian, thief, ranger, engineer, and necro. Of those honestly i enjoy the guardian by far the most. The only down side is if you are running with a bunch of glass cannons and they start to kite your basically useless that entire fight. Other than guardian i do enjoy my thief. If you like targeting with your spells try elementalist. Yes they can be squishy but i’ve also seen elementalist walk threw stuff that would kill most classes. Currently i dont know if its just me but engineer just feel weak. They seem good on paper but i just cant seem to get mine to perform. Its damage seems low. Its healing/support is a joke. Its not really able to take a hit. Use to engineer was a blast that burned its way threw mobs. Anymore i cant even take one mob out without nearly being killed by said mob.

Really its not unreasonable. They both bought the exact same thing. Fact one person got something more out of it buying it later is a bit screwed up. If you expand what it grants those who got it before hand should be grandfathered in to it as they have it already.

I don’t know, I do kinda find it unreasonable. They may have bought the exact same thing, but the people who bought it first got to play for the past year, and experience all of the game plus any LS stuff released during that time for free (and with the most recent patches they had the option of a month long farm fest, and a year of gaining a good amount of karma from dailies/monthlies). I argue that whoever bought it first got more out of it than any current buyers.

I mean I bought the CE game, the sound track, and the strategy guide (as silly as it is I’d rather buy that than gems personally). In the past year I got ~1.4k hours out of gw2. I sure as hell got my money’s worth. And as I stated most of those rewards are worth nothing (you can maybe argue the $5 skin, but if someone wanted it why didn’t they buy it within the past year). To reiterate the arguments that flooded the forums when the Heroic edition was first announced.

When the price dropped X months after release, did we all ask for the difference? If a company selling a product has a special deal does it apply retroactive to all previous purchases (see comment below)? This is their way to keep sales up. And again, more money for them, means more free content for all of us. I mean look at any video game, you can buy it at launch for full price. A year later (or two) there may be a GOTY edition that includes all the previous DLC. People who got the game at launch don’t get the DLC for free (or get reimbursed if they bought it already) just because now new people can buy the GOTY edition which includes all the older DLC.

The main (and possibly only way) I can agree with you, is for people that very recently upgraded to the Delux Edition. Like if you upgraded within a month (though whatever number you pick is going to anger someone) you’d also get the Heroic bonuses. That is something that I agree with, though I never followed the issue enough to see if that was a reality. (For example Nintendo compensated the first 3DS owners when the price dropped after the first ~2 months or so, but if the price dropped again everyone who already has had one for over a year isn’t going to get an additional kickback).

Technically, yes, all of this stuff is free, and it could have just been given to all of us with the CE or DD editions. It would have been nice if we were grandfathered in, but I don’t think it was worth all the complaining that was done (not specifically calling you out here, but just in general). If you buy something and a year later it goes on sale or has some special promotion “THING NOW INCLUDES X” the people who bought it the first time around don’t get X, but they got to use the product for all of the previous amount of time.

Many company’s extend/grandfather people into stuff. For example cell phone data packs. When i got my first phone i could get it with x data. Then later on down the road they were offering my pack with twice the data. All i had to do was log into my account and update its data. Nothing extra was needed. There are others examples but thats the easiest i could come up with as most people can relate given they have data phones anymore. That being said im not going to be upset or expect any refunds if someone got my same phone at a discount due to a sale. Reason being i was able to use my phone that entire time. I knew ahead of time the price would drop as time went and opted to have it instead of wait. Thats the trade off. Now them all of a sudden change the plan and not extend it to those who already had the plan would be outright silly. Basically this is what anet has done. They have taken the product and expanded it then left out those who own the exact same product. They dident pay any more than us and those of us that bought it ahead of time wouldent have ever expected them to expand what was included in the pack.

Upgrade to the Deluxe Edition.

You will even get the complete Deluxe Edition, opposed to my pre-ordered one that didn’t came with a 18 slot bag or a armor skin.

I feel the same way. Pre-ordered the CE and have a limited banker to show for it. Oh yeah and that mini that sits in my collections tab.

Are you guys really upset that 1 year after launch people who buy the game now can get 10 exp boosters (which I think are useless either because most people have all lvl 80s right now, or because of the achivement chests which gave a ton of boosters).

An 18 slot bag that costs like 1.2g to buy/craft. Or if you ran fractals at all since Dec you could have had free 20 slot bags (plus the free 20 slot bag from southsun, and the free 15 slot bag from wintersday).

And the armor skin, which you could have bought if you wanted it since launch for 400 gems. And back at launch that would have cost you ~2g, when the rates were 1g=~240 gems. Or 4g in October when the rates were 1g=~120 gems.

Plus not to mention all of the free LS updates since launch (and their respective back items or minis or whatever which you got usually in <5 hours).

Shouldn’t you be happy more people buy the game, and that means more money for Anet, which means more continued support and more free updates in the future.

I’m annoyed a lot by this most recent patch, but giving people an incentive to buy the game a year after it came out isn’t one of them.

Really its not unreasonable. They both bought the exact same thing. Fact one person got something more out of it buying it later is a bit screwed up. If you expand what it grants those who got it before hand should be grandfathered in to it as they have it already.

why the hell didnt they just let us choose both the weapon and the stats !

Because that’s a feature unique to legendaries

Not really. Legendary weapons let you swap stats on the fly. Allowing someone to select the weapon and the stat once when they manage to get that super rare drop isent asking to much as any crafter could do the exact same when they make it.

Ahh then I agree. I took it as if they wanted to choose whenever and as many times as they want.

We already know this mechanism is possible (we did it for rare items) but I’m sure there would be some other fixes they would have to do behind the scenes.

Maybe. Given they just did it basically for all mf gear leads me to beleave that they have that system in place already. That makes me think it might be fairly easy to do.

Your car anology is just ridiculous. Nobody has taken the ring away from you. You still have the fully functional ring. Your account based magic find is more than amount lost on the ring. Your combat level is no worse than before.

I’ll give a hint here. When someone posts on a forum looking for sympathy and doesn’t get any, there’s no point arguing. That someone will get even less sympathy when they say they want more mf than other players (other forum readers) because they see the game as an adversarial rush for gold and loot.

The analogy isn’t ridiculous, it is simply focused on a single argument. Finding one that covers every aspect would be a waste, of time, since others have already explained why other factors are not a magic cure. But since you need a recap:

The OP does not still have a fully functional ring. He has a partially functional ring, whose benefits are 100% lost if he decides he would rather use a fully functional ring.

His account based magic find is not higher for having spent 35 laurels on the ring. Calling it compensation for the ring does not fit, because he could have not spent the 35 laurels and still ended up with same mf. He would have chosen that option of not spending (or spending them on other stuff), except that all available information at the time said that spending the laurels that way results in more mf then not doing so.

He bought that ring having determined that it would slightly reduce his combat ability in exchanged for some mf. Remove the mf with no compensation and he is left with a slightly reduced combat ability in exchange for nothing. His combat ability may not be worse then when he was using mf celestial ring, but that level of combat ability was only acceptable (to him) because it offered mf.

Actually it is ridiculous. They dident take your ring away from you. At best using the car thing they came by and took the spare tire. Even then it would be a stretch to go that far.

Just a note if your uncomfortable with overclocked dont do it. While it is fairly easy with auto clock programs some of the biggest mistakes i’ve seen is someone read up on it and think they know how to do it properly and end up messing up there cpu. If you really want to learn have someone you know has done it teach you how, or watch you when you do it so they can correct any mistakes made. That being said as for gpu your fine. My comp runs a gts 450 and honestly handles the game mostly maxed fine. Only time i’ve ever lagged out is in massive zone events on final bosses when everyone on the server seems to show up. Even then honestly its rare.

I would agree that it was introdused because of small portion of playerbase who whined about it if it was actually implemented as such.

Since most of them got ascended weapons in first few hours,

Wait. What?

Are you saying that people have Ascended weapons already? I thought the patch for these just came out today. I have not even played the game tonight. Just downloaded the patch about a hour ago.

Are you serious? People have these weapons already?

Probably people who can control the TP with the amount of money they have already crafted them.

Maybe.

Would be nearly impossible to craft it already i would think due to time restraints on crafting some of the account bound stuff. The ones i know of got them as champ drops.

I just don’t understand the “There is nothing wrong with it because you don’t need to use it” argument. It is like saying that apple on the floor cannot possibly be rotten because you don’t have to eat it.

Honestly its just a twist on the normal argument you see in other mmo’s refering to top end gear. What it really comes down to is they want items that have stats no one else can get without stupid amounts of grinding because frankly that very hard/rare skin they have is not enough for there well you get the idea.

I don’t believe it.

Why add ascended crafting before precursor crafting? Makes no sense, ascended item will obviously be harder to craft. Plus they have lied before, at this point I’ll only believe an official announcement on their webpage about it.

Could be that they simply have not decided just how they are going to do precursor weapons. They think they may do it via crafting but its not decided yet.

Yeah I did that wasted a lot of time and mats getting almost all exotic recipes, and hey out of the blue, you gotta to relearn them, but you get xp, chuckle, chuckle, chuckle.

Insulting.

That would be the difference between us. It does not bother me one bit. I craft just to craft. I enjoy helping my friends gear up. I like having my alts in the best gear they can be. I also enjoy the money crafting brings to me. Its not the first time i’ve crafted these weapons and it wont be the last time.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Morrolan,

Worthless because they’re now taking up a slot on my character and not doing what I bought them to do. The two rings had lower overall stats, made up for by magic find. But, they removed the magic find without changing the other stats.

Celestial has reduced stats not because of magic find… It has reduced stats because it gives you the following all on one item.

Power, Precision, Toughness, Vitality, Critical Damage, Healing Power, and Condition Damage

Magic find was hardly going to make or break the item. In truth it might mean 1 point bonus to power, precision, toughness, vitality, healing power, and condition damage if your lucky. The big bonus of celestial gear was the fact you got a bit of everything. Removing magic find from it does not change the fact it still gives you a bit of everything thats available on gear.

Ascended Gear to Kill Builds and Alts?

Almost as tiresome as seeing the silly trolls that can’t open their eyes wide enough to see beyond the one build they think everyone should run. Yep, everyone that doesn’t play your way is “bad”. You’ll fit in just fine with the ones that start demanding everyone ping ascended gear.

The way I play involves dodging dangerous attacks, reflects, blocks, invulns and paying attention to fight mechanics. If you’re not able to use your dodge key or pay attention to mechanics, then yes, people who don’t play my way are bad at the game because it really isn’t that hard. The difference lies between the noob who refuses to learn and the newbie who wants to learn, while I approve of the latter, the former just drags this game down with faceroll easy difficulty and then cries for nerf when they can’t handle Liadri.

It will be amusing to see all the dead glass cannon zerkers littering the ground at Teq 2.0

I can’t imagine it’s going to matter what your armour stats are, it’s a bit like Jormag where you can have high toughness armour and still be chewed out if you linger near him too long. Bad players will be bad players, armour choice is irrelevant. The difference is that zerker users are normally at least trying to be good.

Oh, and FYI…Secret of Southsun…that was…months ago. I guess that does explain the “zerker is the only build” mentality. Even the dungeon speed clearers figured out you can do it just as fast without a bunch of zerker wars.

Correct. It turns out zerker engis, zerker rangers, zerker thieves and zerker eles are pretty good too.

Oh look, they’re all zerker.

Just because someone can play in full zerk does not make it a good choice. Theres been many time when i’ve made a minor mistake on timing and only thanks to my gear diversity have i survived it. Dead dps does no dps. Ill take someone geared to take a little hit over someone geared for full glass cannon any day. I have had nothing but bad luck from people playing pure glass cannon. Atleast with magic find people i know why they are dead. Glass cannon really have no excuse. You sacrificed practically all your survivability for very slight dps boost that you loose the first time your downed in a fight.

As far as i care you can keep playing your zerk only gear. I just personally wont have anything to do with that crowd.

@MikaHR youre right I did forget about the infusions. I would quit logging in now but I spent so much money in the gem store that it feels like such a waste to quit. But Im not going to keep doing this.

I feel for you. Unfortunately unless enough people quit nothing will change and Guild Wars 2 will proceede to Grind Wars 2 as planned.

Imagine, you want to play new character or a new build:

6 ascended trinkets
4-6 ascended weapons
6 ascended armor
4-6 ascended sigils
6 ascended runes
16-18 infusions of w/e tier at the time

Just 1 character 1 build

At this rate that puts even worst Korean grinders to shame lol

done. now aside from fractals, tell me which content i can’t do in exotics?

So you think they will add all those stats without any “adjustements to content”.

Yah, i see it now, going around one shotting everything is what they planned all along rofl

Wish that people would THINK before they POST. Ah, wishful thinking.

Have you seen the upcoming changes to Teq? It promotes teamwork and coordination. I am guessing that they going for that in the “difficulty” department, instead of just bumping up numbers. And in the off chance that they do bump up numbers. I imagine the experience would to be the same as wearing yellows in an exotic world. Bit of a challenge, but still doable.

They just have to drop agony in dungeons and….pufff….insta crap

And leveling areas….great thinking rofl. Can you name ANY game that adjusted leveling area to max gear…like…ever?

When lvl65 can wear ascended, maybe they will rofl

ok, you lost me there.

Its not about difficulty, it was never ever in any game about difficulty but it was about gear check.

Teq is part of leveling content. Where exactly could you be lost?

I wouldn’t expect anything like that in the current open world areas. Teq is somewhat geared towards level 80s returning to that zone, but it’s still in a level 65 map.

I don’t think we’ll see gear checks outside of Fractals for a long time, if ever. But the possibility of new areas/content being created and balanced for players with ascended gear is real. Even in games without a hard gear check, content is still balanced for characters that are properly geared. It’s just a matter of whether Anet starts to consider ascended as properly geared, or leaves it as “over geared” while exotic remains the standard for balance.

I beleave ANet has talked about revamping all the dungeons around the FotM. If thats the case its safe to say that ascended it the bar they are working around.

Just something to note i’ve leveled atleast 3 times from my 400 armorsmith since patch went live. It still gives me normal xp even though its “max”. Its just slower than it would be if you were getting the bonus for first time combine.

You got 3 levels because now crafting 0-400 only gives you 7 levels, crafting 400-500 gives you the other 3 levels for a total of 10 levels for 0-500.

Might want to reread my post. I was 400 when i stated and im still 400 crafting as its ARMORSMITH. It keeps giving me xp when i craft my stuff.

Something to note if you think its your cpu list your motherboard as well. A few of my friends thought it was the cpu as well till i pointed out that the motherboard they were running was the real issue. After they upgraded the part they found that the issue was fixed.

Those are the stats on the ascended dagger:

970~1030
64/64/97
not really that much of a difference from the exotic one, so i really dont get why all the complaints…

The problem comes in to play that an exotic is 924-981 damage, 90/64/64. While it does not seem like much you have 2 weapons each at those elevated stats. Then add in all the other pieces and you just made it so that if people are equal in skill there is little to no chance someone in exotics would ever perform on par with someone in ascended. The total difference just in jewelery its self is something i myself have noticed. Add in weapons and armor it only gets worse from there. Honestly the difference was nearly the same jump i seen from going from rare to exotic. It dont seem like much till you add it all togeather. There is also one other massive problem in the fact this opens gw2 up to the slow decent to the dreaded gear treadmill. They added stat creep already. Whats to say it stops here?

i agree, what is the point to Ascended weaponry? Like the real reason and dont say to “bridge the gap”

In my eyes the real reason was to try to please the stat grind crowd that blew threw the game then went looking for what they expect as end game. Sadly most of that crowd has likely moved on and those remaining are the ones you see over in wvw that dont want to fall behind to others so they grind out the new top stat.

Also before you try the whole but we need the better stats in order to do FotM. No you need agony resist to do FotM which could easily be added to existing exotics with no need to stat creep.

People are just being dramatic !

They want a game L T W (log in to win)

Can’t tell if stupid or troll…

What kind of thing is “log in to win”? did you even think before you posted?, the entire point of this thread is the sheer fact that this will greatly effect the whole WvW game, even to the smaller things as solo/group roaming around because now we have to grind our face off as fast as we can or we’re going to fall behind in gear, whilst also killing off the ability to have multiple effective sets of weapons to build with.

It’s also the fact that us players that just simply log in to enjoy WvW are going to have the burden that we either must farm our face off, be forced to also level up the weapon crafting profession for the class you’re using, just to be able to keep up to par, this is a major down sight and I’m betting it’s going to end up making people simply go inactive, because we like to play this for enjoyment, not farming and crafting for hours.

Watch about calling names and such. As the op it honestly puts the topic in a bad light when you attack someone like that. Report troll’s for what they are and move on or if need be address the issue politely.

Good job on Ascended skins Anet.

lol….. yeah cuz that greatsword looks real good next to a twilight… not.

Not worth it.

Personally I dont like either. The legendary greatswords have some sweet effects but sadly the design of them is horrid. I much rather stick to my Ghastly Greatsword instead of something that looks like my two year old tried to draw.

Then again im more of a realistic type of person. I look at something and if i can see it being real i tend to like it. Some of the super gaudy items just dont do it for me. I will take a standard plain blade over the over the top one any day.

This game is so full of complainers.

Forums will always be full of complaints. Thats just a fact of life. Its where people go to vent. Thing is there are reasonable complaints and unreasonable ones. In the case of this thread it honestly is a reasonable one. It goes against everything this game was sold on. Ascended will always be a touchy subject as it was, in my eyes, brought into the game in very bad form. There were ways to bring it in without betraying the principles on which this game was designed and sold.

Sadly I still feel like ascended should have been just like it was in GW1. A simple buff placed on your current armor that added resistance to agony. It dident add extra stats and it dident effect combat outside of the agony area. Would have made it so much easier in the long run to just imbue your current gear with an +5 agony resist and not touched the other stats. Sadly though i guess the dev team never thought about leaving it as simple as that.

This is what it SHOULD have been.

Ascended Tier 1: Exotic stats and 1 infusion slot requiring a Tier 1 infusion (Gilded, Karma, WXP, XP, or Agony resistance)

…6 months – 1 year later….

Ascended Tier 2: Exotic stats and 2 infusion slots each requiring Tier 2 infusions (Gilded, Karma, WXP, XP, or Agony resistance)

…6 months – 1 year later…..

Ascended Tier 3: Exotic stats and 3 infusion slots each requiring Tier 3 infusions (Gilded, Karma, WvWXP, XP, or Agony resistance)

You get the point…They could have done that LITERALLY forever, got their progression, and not have to deal with ANY of the backlakitten doesn’t bother ME because I don’t care about FotM 30+, think it would be easier to just make a legendary, and can do just fine in sPvP/PvE with exotics.*

However, why they chose this path when it could kitten so many people off is beyond me.

Thing is if i remember right, which i might not, they were talking about revamping the other dungeons to be simular to FotM. Anyone who likes running dungeons would have eventually needed this ascended class gear at some point to keep progressing threw the levels. But that being said i totally agree. Exotic should have always been stat cap. Its fairly easy get which makes trying new and interesting things easy. Which i honestly feel was always intended. Fact that legendary weapons started with same stats as exotic kinda proves this even more to me as no one in there right mind would launch a weapon set knowing they are going to have to completely scrap it and redo it down the line. If ascended was always intended to be how it is now legendary would have launched with the same stats as ascended one would think.

I don’t really buy into all this magic find stuff anyway. The best items I’ve ever had drop were with no magic find. Maybe it has just been odd luck but who knows. I gave up on magic find stuff well before the news came out they were dropping it.

From my understanding mf does not increase the change that a super valuable item drops but the chance a non standard item drops. Non standard being blue, green, gold, orange, and now pink. Less junk items. You will still have the same chance of that non standard item being exotic as if you were not using mf just more of the non standard items droping which in its own way increases the changes of getting better loot.

I think some are nice (pistol for example), some are meh, some are junk. Overall, meh. Most are underwhelming.

Are you serious? They’re so plain and ugly… For the (now) strongest weapons in the game they sure don’t look like it. They look like they’d be skins for level 10 or level 20 weapons.

he likes it, who are you to tell him otherwise?

And he doesn’t. Who are you to tell him otherwise?

…See the obvious flaw in your logic?

Just to point out Happyfool.8951 dident tell him he was wrong for not liking it. He said TehPwnerer.7215 was wrong for basically saying Gathslan.1870 was stupid for liking the new skins.

On the Merged Magic find Thread, someone from Anet said they would compensate people with MF. That has not happened, people with MF got the same as everyone else.

Can you link the post please? I personally think your misunderstanding the meaning. I dont think they ment they would give you extra mf just because you already had mf gear. I think it was the fact they were making mf gear able to become other types of gear thus not making the old mf gear useless.

no one said 300% other than that being the account max… I certainly did not expect 300%.

Sorry bout that davey. I totally misread your post. My bad. But anyways the advantage was the fact mf gear would be able to be turned into other types of gear making those pieces still useful. Or as i said earlier ya can salvage it for ascended mats :P.

They never once led anyone to beleave they were giving out 300% mf. They flat said EVERYONE would get 20% and those with mf gear would be able to change its stats into something useful. Thats a rather massive perk given mf gear was always super cheap compaired to say zerkers or such.

Do you have any link?

I have multiple 400+ crafters. I’ve bought a few of the recipies that i will need. You can preview the gear from there. Other than that i have not found any links to such other than the greatswords.

From what i’ve seen they look WAY better than the exotic crafted gear…..

On topic though I have to agree with the op. For non special/limited time items I think these are some of the nicer looking items they have put out in some time. Simple but elegant. Not super over the top. Now if only they were colored better…. Or let us change the color scheme.
