The problem with “hype” is most people start reading what other players are posting and getting caught up in what others are talking about without reading what the Devs posted. And in then they start getting conflicting or wrong information that they take to be true. And then they get upset that it’s not like what other players said or what they imagined what was said in between the lines of what the Devs said.

I was not disappointed in HoT. I read what the Devs said. I understood what they wrote PLUS I also understood that things may change anyway since “nothing survives first contact”

Actually, the problem with HoT is that it didn’t contain the amount of content people expect for an expansion from playing other MMOs. The fact that it took three years to come out AND was full priced AND was over-hyped by Anet just made the problem worse. I don’t think you can really put that on players.

See that’s the problem . I got exactly what I was expecting with hype due to what Anet said. They said it would be an expansion light on content and heavy on changes to the game mechanics. They went into excrutiating detail.

The real issue was less the hype and more then distance between the announcement and the launch.

Anet did promise some stuff that didn’t make it into the launch, and some stuff that’s even still coming out but that’s nothing to do with hype one way or another.

I’ve always known and have said for ages that HoT was a combination season pass and expansion. You can find me saying that even before HOT launched.

Those that argued it was just an expansion and didn’t include the upcoming LS 3 in it, well, I got the LS 3 for free, because I was here. And when you add that to HoT content it was a decent sized expansion in my opinion.

And again, I was saying this on these forums from the very beginning.

Ah Vayne, I haven’t agree always with you, even I haven’t say it in here Forums. But in this case I agree with you 100 %.

HoT was everything what Anet promised to deliver to us. But most of the people don’t understand that some changes what they did to Guild Wars 2 came bit earlier than HoT was started. They made a lot changes to game mechanics which affected to all players, all those who did bought HoT and those who didn’t bought it, but it was part of HoT delivery.

That Hype Train was highspeed before HoT started, but somehow that Hype Train crashed to something. Maybe they raised that Hype Train speed too high and too early so first expectations had time to die. I don’t know what happened, but many people was dissapointed after HoT was landed.

I was a shocked first about HoT’s difficulty, but at time I started to like HoT. And now, I would not give it away at any costs. It had good story. It has lot to do, and most of all HoT have been made Anet’s best quality as always their games are.

Even this comes bit late, but yeah why not:

THANK YOU Anet for Heart of Thorns.
THANK YOU Anet for Living World 3 too. I can not wait to get that last episode and play it thru

I think it will be…

Path of Forgotten or
Prophecy of Forgotten

I think that Forgotten ones retreated to the Crystal Desert when human appeared to the Tyria and began to become a superior race. In Crystal Desert they served dragon Glint.

Aurene is Glint’s offspring, so she could be Prophecy of Forgotten. Or we need to make Aurene to ascended and it will be Path of Forgotten.

I am from Europe, but I am playing in NA servers. Game says: Connection error(s) detected. Retrying…

Is this somehow related now that Net neutrality boycot what most of largest operators and suppliers is doing today. They said that net connections may be very slow and doesn’t work equally, because they want to show how net will work if there is not net neutrality going on.

If it is because of that, we all should give thanks to President Trump and his ideas to take off that net neutrality. This will be result for taking off that equal net connections.

There would have been very easy solution to this Engineer AFK problem. ArenaNet just should remember how Ritualist spirits worked in Guild Wars 1, and change turrets working same way in this specific area.

For those who have not been played Guild Wars 1, this is how Ritualists spirits worked: Only one same kind of spirit could be up same time. So in the party was not able to be 2 ritualists who used same spirits, or other players sprits were destroyed. Same system to the turrets and there we go, problem solved, only one same kind of turret can be up and other same kind turret is destroyed. Other players can use kits, like boms, minefields, crenades, flamethrowers and so on, but only one player can use turrets at same time.

I am not going to spent any cent for this game until ArenaNet have been shown to me that it is worth to spent any money for it. I am going to check out very carefully, will I even buy expansion 2.

After the HoT this game has not been casual friendly anymore. All those goals what I had in my mind, have get out of my reach. There is coming all the time new and new things what we should hunt or do. There are million currencies what we need to get, if we want to buy something from the game.

Last Tyria’s mastery points from core game what I should hunt to open last Legendary mastery tier, are eluding me. I am not able to get them. Raids are only for Elitist players. That means that I am not able to reach Legendary armor or weapon.

So why should I spend money in this game? I am not recommended this game anymore, not even my friends as I did before HoT. My end game is harvesting materials if I ever get ascended gears to my characters, even it seems to be most impossible because lack of some materials. And no, I am not going to buy any materials from Tradingpost.

Last fight was really slow and had huge lags. When I was able to finally collect both powers and shoot my target, they were woke up and, it was like spitting the hot rock.

It is funny, how GW2 is the only game on the market which makes me curse like a sailor. And this episode last fight was so bad experience, that I used all those curse words what I know (and I know them a lot). Even sailors would have been blushing if they would have been hearing me.

Map – interesting – reward meh: 7/10
Story – short but because of Taimi points get so high: 6/10
Mastery – Fun: 10/10
Last fight: 3/10

Race change! please for the love of god

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sinope.5630

There is no need for race change. If you really like this game, you will make another character with different race. I have 31 characters, they all have map completion. Ok I admit, you need to work for those another characters too, but that’s the life. We will not get anything ready on our hands anyways. We need to work for it. So guys, if you want to play another race, make another character and play it. Keep your old character and it will get all birthday presents and new characters will get them too in time.

Believe me, map completion is fun when you have done it many times. You just run in specific routes on the maps and you will get it fast. I don’t understand why people see map completion such a bogeyman in their minds. It is hard at first time, but second time you already know what to do to get it. And believe me 31st time it is still fun.

I remember one specific April Fools’ Day joke from Guild Wars 1.

I was making huge Barbaric looking warrior to my new character. I skip tutorial part and load up to Shing Jea Monastery in Factions, and I was a little Gwen Doll. First impression was “What Just Happened?” Then I saw thousands of Gwen Dolls around of me.

That was awesome prank.

"Lazarus" [Spoilers]

Posted by: Sinope.5630

Sinope.5630

I think “Lazarus” is infact disguised Kormir. She wants to steal our glory and get famous for savior of the world again.

This story line will start a road for whole new game and is leading episode for Guild Wars 3. Those 6 Gods will raise up in one by one and help us to deal with Elder Dragons. When we kill last Elder Dragon, the whole world is in danger because all of that arcane magic is pouring freely. Those 6 Gods have seen that we have put in danger whole world with our actions. So they will safe our world and that’s begins new game: Guild Wars 3 – Wrath of Gods.

New Player, Sad Player. Expansion ruined it.

Sinope.5630

I agree with OP. It is great difficulty jump from core game to the HoT. Those players who have played this game from start, don’t realise this increased difficulty between core game and HoT.

There is a explanation. Old players played Living Story 1 and Living Story 2. For example Living Story 2 episodes were little bit harder each time when they came out. So new episode were little bit harder than last one. This way old players kind of get used to increased difficulty just playing Living Stories. That means those new players who have not Living Story 2 for example, they don’t have that path for HoT what old players walked. There were 8 Living Story episodes in LS 2 and HoT was 2 step harder than last episode of LS 2. That means if new player is coming straight from core game to HoT, they are experience 10 times harder area, where they left. That’s a quite difficulty jump, is not it?

Now what I have seen, again Living Story 3 episode is always one step harder than last episode, and first episode was one step harder than HoT. So in that way, when new expansion will come out, I bet it is 10 times harder than HoT. But when we are going thru this path of Living Story 3 players will get used to it. But how about those new players who will come to the game and want to go straight after core game to the last expansion story, they are facing 20 times harder area. That’s a shock.

I know, I should not put my fingers on this thread, but maybe this will make clear how Power of the Mist will affect your health. I think that your real health is something like 33213 HP or more accurate 33212,5. Those decimals are not shown, but they are on calculations. What I noticed at 1% Anet use 33213 HP and 2-10% calculations they use more accurate version of HP what is 33212,5 HP. So look this calculations and compare does these HP numbers look familiar to you.

Normal HP between 33212,5 – 33213. PoM = Power of Mist.

PoM. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .HP
1%. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .33545
2%. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .33876
3%. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .34208
4%. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .34541
5%. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .34873
6%. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .35205
7%. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .35537
8%. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .35869
9%. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .36201
10%. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .36533

If you add all those food and other buffs what you get, I think your HP will raise at 10% of Power of Mist to over 37 000 HP.

So it seems that when you have build your warrior then your server have had 10% of Power of Mist.

Sorry about all typos and if I have made some calculation errors. English is not my mother language and I am bad at calculations too.

The worst Mastery system Ever

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sinope.5630

Sinope.5630

I am sorry to say this ArenaNet, but The Worst Mastery system Ever is what we have now.

So now we have this:
1. Fill up xp bar, then fetch separate Mastery points from map and spent. That is clumsy system.

2. You loose all extra xp points if you don’t have enough mastery points to spent and you have filled up all those mastery lines and you are not good enough to get Mastery points anymore either.

I have high hopes that ArenaNet will do in a future fix this mastery system as they did with traits and specializations.

So what kind of change?
1. Those who have HoT: They choose mastery line what you want to work. Fill up the experience bar and character will earn Mastery point, when xp bar has been filled up. Then that xp bar will start to fill up again. You need to fill up that xp bar as many times as you need Mastery points. It is not so fast, but at least you are earning them all. (Yes I mean even 12 times or 15 times fill up that yellow xp bar.)

2. Those who does not have HoT: Can only earn Spirit Shards when they fill up that xp bar.

3. Those HoT players who have all Mastery points earned, anticipate that there will come more mastery lines in Living story / Expansion, can earn extra Mastery points just filling up that xp bar by playing. If they don’t want to earn them, then there is same kind of system what is in WvW reward system. You choose from that little box, what is top frame of the little map and choose, Spirit Shard line or Mastery point line. So in that way you are handling by yourself what you are earning; Spirit Shards or Mastery points.

I know, I know, People will yell now: “Don’t touch system what is working!” But you can make that working system more player friendly, you know. It is not easy change, but it will quarantee that everybody will get possibility to earn all Mastery points. Even casual ones. They just need to work for longer to get those Mastery points and they will do it eventually.

Someone didn’t understand the OP’s post at all.

I have delete my post now. I am sorry that I made you upset. Thank you for saying it was inapt to this forum.

All those other items were wonderful surprise too. I don’t want to tell what people will find inside of that gift box, I just don’t want to spoil their happiness. But to me they all came in great need

It is hard to believe, that 4 years have passed already from start of Guild Wars 2. Those years have gone so fast. Thank you Anet, for all these wonderful years what you have gave to us. There have been up hills and down hills, but most of all. Whole time we have had fun.

TTS is Epic guild! No, I have not been joined their guild, but TTS is Legend among all guilds. They were first ones who was beating up modified Tequatl the Sunless. They have been first in every aspects. They were first ones who was beating up Triple Trouble too. It has been always privilidge to play with them and do those hard events.

So if they are advertising HoT area some another event what is happening in Core game, they are giving opportunity to players beat up those events. Those players who are leaving to do those advertised events, they haven’t got achievements from them. TTS is quarantee success with meta events.

I would join in blink of eye to TTS or those events what they are running, if I would have Teamspeak. But because I don’t have Teamspeak, I am always out of fun.

So if TTS is advertising some meta event, just hop in and you will beat that mission. Lets have fun and lets everybody else have fun too

That would be awesome, so people could have fun in every year, and Anet don’t need to waste their resources to make new jokes and tricks.

Let’s hope guys that this will happen, and we will get SAB every year now on.

Do accounts have "luck", and is it right?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sinope.5630

I think this is only basic RNG what I have had with these accounts. But I have named them with “lucky” accounts and “bad luck” accounts.

Your sample size is 696, not bad but still seems to be too few. If I am correct you have got 32 boxes. It means you have ~4.6% chance to get one in 1 round (not sure what you mean by round as it seems you can get multiple boxes from 1 round, but I just want to show you chances).

There is 30.8% chance that you won’t get any box from 25 rounds.
There is 9.5% chance that you won’t get any box from 50 rounds.
There is 0.9% chance that you won’t get any box from 100 rounds.

None of these are unbelievable.

I would like to add this, some science

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2ecb9z/i_opened_10k_champion_chests_for_science/

Well, if you are lucky enough, you will get 2 coat boxes in one hit, as my luckiest account did. 1 is coming from Achievement “Mordrem Vinewrath Killed” and one from reward when you open the Vinewrath Chest after Vinewrath event. So it is quarantee, that you will get at least one box/ account. If you want to get all armor types with those coat boxes you need to have 3 of them.

And yes, you are correct, I have 32 boxes, I still miss that one box and I won’t go back to that unlucky account anymore

One round is when you have beaten up The Breach and started to do Vinewrath event and finish that event with success and you can open that event’s Vinewrath Chest. Boss bags are extra rewards from bandit chests, The Breach and Greater Nightmare Bod in Hidden Depths.

I have several accounts and I have seen that they do have different kind of “luck” with them. It was good measure to do in Silverwastes when I was hunting with all of them that Carapace Coat Box. So you got a lot of boss bags in there and if you are lucky you will get that Coat Box too. Here is results:

1st account: 111 rounds to get all 3 coat boxes. Boss bags usually contains more blue ones than green items. I have got only 14 exotics over 3 years. I can only dream about precursors with this account. No precursor. (Bad luck account)

2nd account: 3 rounds to get all 3 coat boxes. Boss bags usually contains green and yellow or exotics items, rarely blue ones. I have got over 200 exotics over 3 years. No precursors either. (Lucky account)

3rd account: 15 rounds to get all 3 coat boxes. Boss bags usually contains blue, green and yellow items. I have got over 100 exotics over 3 years. No precursors. (Mid lucky account)

4th account: 50 rounds to get all 3 coat boxes. Boss bags usually contains more blue items than green ones, rarely yellows. I have got over 50 exotics during 3 years. No precursors. (Mid lucky account).

5th account: 25 rounds to get all 3 coat boxes. Boss bags usually contains more green ones than blue ones. I have got over 75 exotics over 3 years No precursors. (Mid lucky account).

6th account: 2 rounds to get all 3 coat boxes. Boss bags usually contains more yellow and green ones. I have got over 250 exotics over 3 years. 1 precursor. (Very lucky account).

7th account: 125 rounds to get all 3 coat boxes. Boss bags usually contains more blue ones than green items. I have got only 5 exotics over 3 years. I can only dream about precursors with this account. No precursor. (Bad luck account)

8th account: 40 rounds to get all 3 coat boxes. Boss bags usually contains equally green and blue items. I have got about 50 exotics over 3 years No precursor. (Mid lucky account).

9th account: 25 rounds to get all 3 coat boxes. Boss bags usually contains equally green and blue items. I have got over 75 exotics over 3 years. No precursor. (Mid lucky account).

10th account: 100 rounds to get all 3 coat boxes. Boss bags usually contains more blue ones than green items. I have got only 10 exotics over 3 years. I can only dream about precursors with this account. No precursor. (Bad luck account)

11th account: after 200 rounds I quit to hunt to that last coat box. Boss bags usually containts blue ones rarely green ones. I have got only 1 exotic over 3 years. (Very bad luck account)

If you wonder how I know amount of exotics, I have booklets with every accounts where I have written all exotics what I have got and counter in there if I have got more than once same one.

I think this is only basic RNG what I have had with these accounts. But I have named them with “lucky” accounts and “bad luck” accounts.

Glider Suggestions? Share Them Here!

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Sinope.5630

I have a suggestion.

New Ascended receipe for Leatherworker, Armorer and Tailor so they could do gliders too. That model can be basic as Batwings were, but they would be kind of sparkling ones. Like this:

Armorer: Sparkling Yellow like Dragonite Ore.

  • Main materials could be Deldrimor Steel ignots, Spiritwood Planks, Spool of Thick Elonian Cord, Bolt of Damask and Dragonite Ingot, Vision Crystal and Augur Stone.

Leatherworker: Sparkling Red like Bloodstone dust.

  • Main materials could be Elonian Leather Squares, Spiritwood Planks, Spool of Thick Elonian Cord, Bolt of Damask and Bloodstone Bricks, Vision Crystal and Augur Stone.

Tailor: Sparkling Purple like Empyreal Fragments.

  • Main materials could be Bolt of Damask, Spiritwood Planks, Spool of Thick Elonian Cord, Empyreal Stars, Vision Crystals and Augur Stone.

All these gliders, you need to use for frame:

  • 2 Spiritwood Planks
  • 2 Spool of Thick Elonian Cord

Wings material for Armorer:

  • 3 Deldrimor Steel ignots
  • 3 Bolt of Damask
  • 250 Dragonite Ingot
  • 1 Vision Crystal
  • 1 Augur Stone.

Wings material for Leatherworker:

  • 3 Elonian Leather Squares
  • 3 Bolt of Damask
  • 250 Bloodstone Bricks
  • 1 Vision Crystal
  • 1 Augur Stone

Wings material for Tailor:

  • 5 Bolt of Damask
  • 250 Empyreal Stars
  • 1 Vision Crystals
  • 1 Augur Stone.

Last note: These gliders are universal, so no matter which crafting profession is doing it, all armor types can use them.

Get Rid of the Druid Please

Sinope.5630

I love Druid, and I play a lot my Druid too.

Druid is not so simple to play with. It is that kind of specialization what you really need to learn to play. It is like monk in GW1. You need to keep an eye all the time your group health bars and make that kind of decisions that you support your party in most best way. You need to know where your party members are in every moment, that you can teleport to that one who needs most help and give health and support to him/her.

I have to say that little by little I have learned to play my little Druid, the most efficient way. Maybe it helped a lot that I was a Monk in GW1. From there I learned, that it is not important to see what happens around of you. You just stare those healthbars and keep them up so others can do their job. When others start to trust you and gives time to time credit for it, that is best feeling in this game.

[Suggestion] Mystic Forge Change

Good idea, but…. There is always, but…

Mystic Forge genie Zommoros, is not factory worker. He is looking at you, if he likes how you look, he will give nice loot. Otherwise if he don’t like how you look, he throw only bones to you.

I bet Zommoros would break out from his prison and fly back to the Elona, if we try to make him factory worker. Then we would not have Mystic Forge anymore to use if Zommoros leaves.

So, I went to check Blade & Soul

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sinope.5630

Sinope.5630

I have to say that BnS is different and it’s combat system is more complex than what GW2 have.

  • If you use in GW2 only auto attack 1,1,1,1,1,1 then I say that you don’t like BnS.
  • If you have problems with open world PvP, it only means that you don’t read what gears say. Gear say very clearly that this armor is opposite to this faction and there are swords showing that you will be dueling with it.
  • If you have problems with mobs, it only means that you haven’t learn use Soul Shields, AoE skills or you don’t know how to upgrade your weapon and trinkets to another level.
  • Crafting was really simple. You only need 2 gathering clans and 2 making clans and one making clan need to be Merry Pottery. Those clans need to be supported with each others before you can make anything. Then you find your materials (once from the nature) and after that you order your materials from the Clan and it delivers your materials where every you are. You can choose what you want to make from those materials and continue story or what ever you are doing and crafting is happening by itself in that time. Very easy infact.

So what I mean about different skill system:
1. you are not spamming only one skill or 2 skills, you need to use your keyboard.
Forexample Summoner use mostly Tab-V-Tab-F or Tab-V-Tab-2 or what variation you like. If you want to do AoE with Summoner then spam 1-F. If you want heal F. If you need more mana press LMB, or F when you have evolve that F skill, and so on.
2. Skills works without hesitation. There is no half second thinking time when it works. When you press button skills are on the way. Very fast.

I have to say, that I haven’t got my BnS Character yet Max level, but I have enjoy it very much at this point. Dungeons are awesome, with cross server option or solo or party find option.

Only minus with party playing is bidding system, but that is avoidable if you are doing everything with solo or with very good friend.

Why I think HoT failed

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Sinope.5630

Sinope.5630

I don’t say that HoT failed. I could say that some part of the expansion have been gone thru where fence is lowest. That’s why, I see that HoT was made group of exhausted people. That hectic time table what they had with Living Story 2 drain their powers. Those people who is working or have been worked in IT departments, know that every second week roll out is very hectic timetable with this scale roll outs what they implemented in GW2.

So, no HoT didn’t fail, that work what those people did before HoT was bit too more ambious what they expected. It was nessessery to loose the speed of roll outs and only way to do it, was doing end of the Living Story 2 to the expansion. The idea of making end of the Living Story 2 behind of paywall, was not best idea. But it was something what they had to do because of their workers sake.

This is not fact what I am writing in here, but it is just imagination of what might have been happen in point of view of IT worker.

You DO NOT want gliding in main tyria [Merged]

I DO WANT gliding in main Tyria (I am like a kids, when mother says DO NOT, it means DO IT).

I think it is wonderful to have gliding in main Tyria. It is wonderful to jump most highest peak of main Tyria and little by little gliding down safely. I prefer to come down softly. I do not want to have anymore those kind of landings what we can see in those “Ultimate fail compilation” videos. It is frustrating to see my character to land on her/his face.

So yes please, give us gliding in main Tyria

Outfit is a set, you can not change one piece of it to the another piece of outfit or armor. Armors are those what you can change and use different pieces.

So what you can change in Outfit? You can make a choose on your equipment window that you are not showing your headpiece from your armor and that way outfit’s headpiece is not shown either.

Tangled Depths Meta is a ghost town

It always happens like that. “Hardcore” players are asking for hardcore events / maps from Arenanet. And Arenanet answers their call. “Hardcore” players do it once or twice or are not able to do it at all, and then whole place is always ghost town.

I remember when Teq came in “hardcore” mode. There was a time, that no one, not even those “Hardcore” players did it. So most of the time Teq was standing empty. Same thing have been happened now in HoT areas. Casual players don’t have time to do those events and Metas and “Hardcore” players have done it already or they have fail it. So now those “hardcore” areas are standing empty.

Here is a picture how Teq was once until Anet little ease that event:

What is the ultimate goal?

Sinope.5630

the goal is whatever u want it to be, if you dont like that then leave and nobody will miss you!

Do you even know that you are rude, when you are saying like this? I have seen that you have post this kind of answers in many post. I always wonder what is your point? You don’t give any solutions with this kind of answers. Ok?

When we see that someone have this kind of dilemma what Ronah Lynda have, we should be creative, supportive and friendly. This kind of posts are like calling help, before they are quitting. Do we want that our community is getting thinner and thinner. I don’t think so. Every player is very important to this game. You know, he might be that person who you need to your Raids run. You wonder why I am not able to do this raids and he might be that answer. But he have been quitted in that point.

Now to the Ronah Lynda:
- Yes I agree that this game have been change a lot from start. Those changes have not always been best ones. Playing this game is plain pain time to time. Some goals are getting further and furhter, specially for those who don’t have much time to play this game.
- You ask very good question; What is ultimate goal to this game? I think that ArenaNet’s basic idea is have fun while playing this game. They have succeed in this way varied. Some things are fun, some things are boring. Those who want to grind same events time after time after time, they like it. But there are also those people who don’t like run like headless chickens around of the map. For those might be a hard to find some entertaining in this game. I am one of those persons. I can run a little time and doing same events, one or two day and night cycle and then I it start to feel like, well I am headless chicken. I start to hunt Mastery points, strongboxes and so on. I don’t get much xp, but at least I get those Mastery points. Or I just pick one map and decide to harvest every node from there. If that map is undone I will do same time map completion to that map and get xp, even it is in Core Tyria side. When I finish I sell all things what I just gather and I got money. Droppings are bad in this way. Even I have played from head start, I have never got any precursor or valuable droppings. So I call my account blue and green account.
- If you have little time to play. Make a schedule. Yeah that sounds crappy, but listen up. One day you can do those headless chicken runs. Some another day you could open mastery points. Third day harvesting day. Fourth open maps and tag as many events as you can find. Even if events are failing, you get xp. Fifth day you could do one jumping puzzle. Sixth and seventh day story days How does that sound?
- I hope Ronah Lynda that you are not leaving us. If you have hard to find some goal in this game. Stop a while and think, what do you want to do the most in that moment. What you think is most important goal in this game. If it is gathering money and get legendary. Do it. You can do it. Just make one goal and keep it up. Anet might try to mess up your goal by listening most vocal players and forgot those silent ones, but keep up your goal. You can do it

Suggestion: Chest of Loyalty reward

I suggest that final log-in reward chest, Chest of Loyalty, would be add one more reward “Chest of Masteries”. It would give 1 or 2 Tyria Mastery points and 1 or 2 Maguuma Mastery points. So during a year player could earn 12 – 24 mastery points in both areas this way.

This would help a little bit those players who have hard times to hunt those Mastery points.

Dear Santa,

I don’t want any items to myself, but this is my wish list:

I wish…
1) …that ArenaNet all employees could have peaceful and merry Christmas. That they can be with their loved ones and enjoy this celebration of light with all their families. I hope you, Dearest Santa, will be generous to them.

2) … that all the players all over the world could have peaceful and merry Christmas. That they can enjoy this little moment without any sorrow, anger, stress and most of all without fear for global war or other risk.

3) … that all nations finally could live in peace with each other’s.

This list, Dear Santa, may be too hard to implement for you, but you don’t get anything if you don’t ask, isn’t that right Santa?

If you are from Europe, you can always buy PaySafeCard. Most of the European countries have that payment method and you can use it in GW2. In my country there are 10, 25, 50 and 100 Euro’s PaySafeCards for sale.

Another way is to buy Gem Card. In my country GameStop is selling them. And I think it is only store what is selling them anymore in here.

Why havnt you bought HoT yet?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Sinope.5630

I haven’t bought Expansion yet, because 50 € feels bit too much just for expansion and I rather play Dragon Nest, Warframe and WoW at this moment.

  • In WoW I can harvest enough gold to buy token and I don’t need pay subs anymore.
  • Dragon Nest is fun action based game what you really can call A Game with fun. And it is F2P and all expansions are free.
  • Warframe is fun action based game where you really feel freedom of movement and when you are jumping, you really are jumping, not just hopping as in GW2. And most of all it is F2P and all expansions are free.

Well this HoT Expansion is not bringing anything new aspects to the game at this point. All professions are as clumsy as they have been from the start of the game. Revenant is not bringing anything new to the game. So Guild Wars 2 and HoT are like bones which are scoured to blank and do not shed anything new element of fun from them.

So I rather wait and hope that I am wrong and maybe I will buy HoT later on discount.

If you are doing Fallen Hopes in Living Story 2 (looking for clues and talk with Marjory) It worked fine. I just did it with my character.

There are those 3 clues what you need to seek top of the mountain, first is letter, it is easy one, you just need to kill veteran inquest and golem to get it. Read that letter and talk to Marjory when she is close to you. Second is Further edge of the cliff. You need to kill all those dust mite twisters, or aggro those little dust mites with you and beware of the winds, go to the cliff where are 4 inquests, kill them and Marjory and Kashmeer are doing dust mite killing in that time. When you have killed those inquests kill rest of the little dust mites, then Marjory will come beside of you. Look out that corpse, and talk with Marjory. Last one is bit harder. There is Veteran Dust Mite in there, keep your back always against middle wall and when that veteran dust mite is blowing wind, you are blown away from that wall, but get back and kill that dust mite. When it is dead, go to that pile of burned boards and wait when Marjory is beside of you and investigate them. Marjory and Kasmeer is talking. YOu need to talk with Marjory again and finally it is done.

5, play 2 mains on the reg, might add a rev to that when HoT lands.

As an avid gamer with a full-time job I can’t invest more timesink without missing out on playing other games.

Screw that.

As much as I dig this game it’s no way near good enough to make me sacrifice other gaming pleasures in order to have a dozen 80’s.That would bore me to death.

I have 11 accounts. And across all those accounts I have totally 151 characters. Nearly all of them are level 80. I still have 6 empty character slots for HoT in couple accounts.

Yeah, I should get a life.

If that is even remotely true you don’t need a life, you need help. In saying these type of threads normally devolve into little more than kittening competitions and false claims of having a thousand toons with max loots.

Sadly this is true. All these accounts comes from Guild Wars 1. There was a point in GW1 history, that whole game with 8 character slots were cheaper to buy than 1 character slot to existing account. So I rather made new account than bought only one character slot. That’s the history how I was able to get 11 accounts.

Little by little I have made those characters what I had in GW1 in here to Guild Wars 2 accounts. Sadly I am not even in half a way with them. Hopefully I will get all of those 374 characters from GW1 made in here Guild Wars 2 side. That is my goal. To get all those wonderful characters in Guild Wars 2.

I have manage to make in Guild Wars 2 at this point 151 of them during three years. Maybe it will take 3 years more to get rest of them. Maybe it will take longer, but little by little I will do it

I started to do these events in one map, Diessa Plateau. What I saw these events are only zerg fest, waypoint one place and run as fast as you can and see how those monsters are melting down before you reach them. Scaling is poorly done, when there is handful monsters around and huge zerg is beating them down, they are melting too fast. In this kind of events, where are not good rewards for finishing one dynamic event, their scaling should be done stronger, so events takes longer to finish. So scaling should be done work better way.

These kind of events waypoint, run and beat crap out from monsters are really unfair to the new players. New players don’t have that kind of money to waypointing so much around and only see that monsters are melting down before they even reach those monsters. That makes them donate their money for waypointing useless.

How about rewards? New players don’t have that kind of money for best rewards, or skins. Mostly new player don’t have those “old” skins and potions what are in rewards, but how they have money for getting those rewards. First they gather all those blooms, they don’t get any money from events, and there are no droppings what they can convert to the money and when they have all blooms gathered, they just can watch those rewards, because they have use all their money to waypointing.

Old players don’t need those rewards, because most of them have already bought them from gem store or get them during Living Story.

These kind of events with these kind of rewards should be done just for new players, make them have fun with old ones, learn how to zerging, getting money and most of all, get rewards from the events.

The main points:

  • monsters are melting too fast, scaling is not working very well or poorly implemented
  • waypoint costs are too much for new players
  • no droppings from the monsters and no rewards dynamic events are bad for new players economy
  • Rewards costs too much money for new players. Old players have money, new players don’t. Old players have already skins and potions, new players don’t.
  • It is uncertain to whom these events are targeted, for new players or old players. If these kind of events are targeted to new players rewards are fine, but cost of the rewards is not. If this is targeted to old players, they already have those items, but they have money for rewards what they don’t need.

Now end of my story:
I was zerging with others and killed like 7 groups already, when I saw how new players were struggling to reach those mobs. It was brainless zerking around of map and no one was thinking new players a bit. I started to think why I was doing it. I already had all those skins and potions, why an earth I was doing those events? New players invested their little money for waypointing and try to reach those mobs before we old players beat them all up. I felt bad, and left the map. This kind of events what makes new players to grief are not fun at all. After that I haven’t done those events.

I found out something strange with my lagging.

I have many accounts. When I was playing that account where I have bought HoT, it had huge lags and lagspikes. It didn’t log in every time and time to time it log in after long waiting period. Some times that character what had 100 % map completion and I tried to log in with it, shows to me 0 % map completion.

Then I change my account to that one where I have not bought HoT and surprisingly it didn’t have any lags or problems. Everything loaded up fast, and skill were working fine and not even single lags anywhere. It worked so smooth and fine.

So I just used same computer, same connection and account with HoT had huge lags and accounts without HoT worked fine.

You can still play normal core game + new pvp + WvW. So there are still plenty to do even you don’t buy HoT now. You can not play revenant or new areas what comes with HoT. If you change later your mind, you can always buy HoT later. HoT is not vanishing anywhere after release day. You have plenty of time save money or ask someone buy it to you present later.

So don’t worry there are many other players who are in same situation. I know at least 9 players who haven’t bought HoT yet. They want to see and hear first how it is and maybe wait some discounts

Guild Wars 2 is just a product what have had normal product life cycle.

1. Price is placed higher than normal price would be.

  • Innovators will buy product no matter what price is placed to the product.
  • Innovators want to be first ones, those who are ahead of the time.

2. Price is lowering to that price what has been normal this kind of product.

  • Mass consumers buy the product, because they have heard what innovators have talk about it.
  • Some of the innovators start to quit use this product.

3. Product have discounted price

  • Those users buy this product whom interests arise because they heard mass users talk about it. It is not so important, but they want to be part of that product.
  • Innovators start to looking for something new and some mass users start to quit use this product.

4. Product start to be giveaway with some other product, or it is changed to be free to play (if it is a game or program)

  • Those players will try it whom get it free. It is not so important to them, but it is nice to try it, because some people are still talking about it, or new version from it is coming to the markets (expansion).

So I only see positive action from ArenaNet that they put Guild Wars 2 free to play. It is nice to have new players to enjoy the game with us.

I have been enjoyed this game couple days over 3 years now and it has been worth all money what I have invested to it.

Are people moving away from MMOs?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sinope.5630

Every game genres have its peaks and its lows. Game genres are like consumables they have same life arch. When there comes a new game genre innovators start to play this new genre. Little by little they make it more popular. Then comes most of the game genre players and at the end those whom are cautious to new game genres. At this point innovators have already found some new game genre to play. There are always a little portion of these players who are vowing to name of some game genre type and don’t change it very easily.

MMO game genre have been in a market quite long and it start to go on its downhill from its peak. So yes, I could say that MMO genre start to be losing its player base. If MMO game makers are not going to invent something revolutionary, MMO genre will be dying game genre. It will always have those players who are vowing to the name of MMO, but that will be very thin player base.

Beta crippled by bugs, lack of info & devs

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Sinope.5630

Sinope.5630

This is not a beta, this is a demo for a) tricking people to pre-purchase the game and b) actually rewarding people who got lured into the trap.

The area to play in is so tiny that there should be no surprises for the QA team, the duration is too short to get any valuable data from the “test”.

Real beta testing is a thing of the past or – in rare cases – some more serious companies than ANet, this is just a teaser for the hype.

Feel free to send feedback, but don’t expect anything to change.

Beta test weekend my kitten…

I have to agree with Kaiyanwan.8521, this is not real beta testing situation. It is just a teaser for the hype.

In real beta testing there should be a document where all testers can read known issues relating to this beta testing. Those issues are what QA team have seen, but Anet haven’t got time to fix yet. When people are testing they can read from that document what issues are already known and that way they can find out what issues are new ones, so they can report only those new ones. That is Beta testing.

So my guess is this, people are sending bug reports what are already known by ArenaNet. People are feeling important by doing reporting and they think that they are really beta testing the game. But infact they are doing same reports what QA have already done before.

So this is not real beta testing situation, it is just try to start hype train again.
