I though, Oh cool I’ll get a recipe and make some portal devices to slap on my guard so I can play on him instead of my Mesmer, but still be as helpful for large guild events, JP’s, Fractals, etc.

This always made me laugh. I can almost see one of the devs saying, “Come ’ere guys, check his out, haha. 5 achievement points for legendary…hilarious right?”

Depending on how much you play and what you enjoy doing, you could probably make 10-15g per day for 2-3 months. That would buy you your hammer. If you have alts, you could easly hit 2-3 runs of some of the faster dungeon paths with multiple characters. Especially if you can get a team of ppl with the same play times and general goals (making money) you can scream thru dungeons for cash. CoF P1 can be done in under 10-12 min (easily), SE path 1-3 can be run back to back in 25-35 minutes.

Each of those paths can be run on alts and if you did something like CoF1, SE1, SE3, swap to alt repeat, swap repeat. you could get 9 paths in under 2 hours. Well over 10g (more if you get lucky and snag some molten or destroyer lodestones, rares, etc)

There are other ways as well, map completion, union farming, world boss camping (helps to have a large guild spread across all the maps).

Will definitely be a large undertaking, but very doable. I would defiantly recommend swapping it up some as 2+ hours of back to back farming the same thing can be eye bleedingly boring. That is why I like to do multiple dungeon paths on alts, different scenery, different skills/roles, helps keep it fun. Anyway good luck.

There is a list of recipes that “use” Bolts of Wool. You might start there and see if you are missing any of them.

My fist thought was one of the wool bags, like “10-slot Invisible Bag” or one of those.

I got Bolt for my Mesmer and I love it. I have since gotten The Anomaly to go with it, and now I’m slowly working on a Volcanus for my Guardian. No regret at all.

I too like it and think it would be nice. But I doubt we will ever see anything like it, as it would make inventory bags useless. No need to buy a bigger bag or extra bag slot…all the stuff I don’t have room for ports to LA.

Unless there was a cap like it could only hold 5 items for the off chance you missed 1-2 things, and reset like you said once per day. But either way, I don’t see it happening.

This is what I was going to post. We had a “long time” “trusted” player who ended up getting his account hacked for whatever reason. He emptied the guild treasure trove. Fortunately, it only contained 1-2s low level greens we leave in there for alts and new players. He ended up getting his account rolled back after submitting a ticket, but the stuff take from the bank vault was gone. It was no big deal to us financially, but frustrating none-the-less. My recommendation is to protect yourself the way we did (main vault had nearly 100g in it, saving for a guild commander tag) we have 3 levels of access for the 3 sections (bank, vault, trove). One is Officer/leader access only, next is good standing members, third is open to recruits and pending members. Also make sure if you are saving for big things using the bank make sure your officers are computer savvy and protecting their accounts properly. (dedicated e-mail, authentication, virus/mal-ware security)

I got Avirdanag (exotic SB) from the Shatterer’s Chest earlier today.

Either way it is not too big of a deal, as the weapon on final completion is bind on equip, so you can give it to any of your lvl 80 characters, and/or me.

I have tried to rent out unused spaces in my guild vault, but no one have ever taken me up on my offer…

And I have great rates too…600 gems for 30 spaces!!!!! ridiculous. Store your items in my rental spaces for the low, low price of 5 copper per space per month. Just shoot me a quick message when you need your spare stack of ecto back, and I’ll get right on it.

greece, it was a real alloy, but nobody knows the exact formula anymore

I find it very humorous that we are running around mining raw lumps of “alloy”.

I’ll start out by saying not everyone will be like me, but I played GW1 pretty steadily for almost 7 years. Not hours a day 365 days a year, but at least 2-3 hours a week with 1 month being the longest break I took.

If I end up doing the same here even if I only did 2 daily per week and got the monthly, after 3-4 years I would have earned nearly 1000 laurels. Could probably outfit a few alts by that point.

Presuming you can get from node to node in 15 second without ever getting hung up, and that each swing of the pick/axe takes 1 second each, that would mean 18 seconds per node (3 materials).

As stated above, it would take 9600 ore and 4800 wood to craft that many rares. That is a total of 14400 mats, or 4800 nodes. 18 sec per node x 4800 = 86400 seconds = 1440 minutes = 24 hours. I presume that you kill 2-3 mobs during the 15 seconds from node to node to get you the thousand of T5 mats you need.

As plausible as this sounds, I would recommend you take a break bro and get some rest. It is unhealthy to play that much every day.

LOL…As they have said many times, Dungeon DR is a safety net to reign in exploits before they can fix them. If they post exactly how it works…it ceases to be a safety net and just becomes a hurdle.

Would be cool if they could tie the drops into the same calculator that generates the “bonus” xp from kills. The older (time since it was last killed by someone else) a foe is, the better the chance for a sweet drop.

This would also send people all over the open world hunting for remote low population areas.

Nope, it’s totally legitimate, and Anet is doing absolutely nothing about it besides dropping contradictory statements about an eventual precursor scavenger hunt.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they were in on it, as they have an active interest in keeping the prices high enough that they’re out of reach of the average player.

Except they don’t….

Anet would rather 10,000 player pay about $10 buying smaller things than a few people paying $1500+ for a legendary.

That appears how their business model is setup.

Except right now the few people who are buying their legendaries are spending the money on gold sellers instead of anet, but, then again, we don’t know if anet or ncsoft has directly any involvement with those gold sellers. Who knows.

Which recipe should I go for? 10 or 1?

I know that 1 recipe has technically 33% chance of success, but I also heard that the 10 recipe stacks the success % if you do them all in a row. Is this last statement true?

The statement about perentages stacking is copletely unconfirmed and likely not true. Really it coes down to whether or not you feel lucky. The 1-clover recipe involves a much larger num er of events so you’re very like to end up in a certain range of events ( 240-250 with a standard deviation ~10). Using the 10-clover recipe involvves many fewer events so you have a much larger standard deviation. You could get realy lucky and rattle off 3-4 winners in a row or you could get equally unlucky and miss many ina row. Neither is more advantageous, but i prefer the 1-clover recipe since the number of mats necessary is much more predictable

I have “heard” of people getting 80 clovers in ten 10x combines, and others getting 80 in 400-500 (ecto/obsidian). If you are a gambler, go for the 10×. If you prefer to play it safer (still no guarantee of saferness, just more likely) go with the 1×.

There is another thread on page 1 of this sub-forum that is over 100 posts discussing peoples elation and frustration on this very topic.

The undead necromancers in orr shoot the really slow moving hand attack. I was able to get 8/10 dodges off of one foe. With them, and lag you should be able to time your dodge based on distance. A little bit of trial and error and you will figure..I need to dodge when the projectile is “this far” away. Whatever that is. And they hit very softly if you have just one, so you should be able to stay alive indefinitely while you figure it out.

If your pug team is so streamlined that losing a few seconds(couldn’t POSSIBLY be more than 2 minutes) to decreased DPS, then kick anyone with a luck sigil…

Seriously, if you are failing runs because people have MF gear as opposed to non, it is a skill issue, not a MF issue. The only thing MF gear does is lower DPS a tad. That is hardly leeching.

You can however “Craft” other backpieces that serve the same purpose, however with different skins. (Endless Quiver, etc.)

I know now what you asked for, but Frostgorge Sound is actually great for a lot of T6 mats.

T6 claws (like above mentioned) & T6 bone – Corrupted Quaggan / Icebrood Colossus
T6 venom sacs – Ice Wurms/hatchling & Sea Wurms/hatchling
T6 scale – Barracuda near the Quaggan village on the west side of map
T6 bone, T6 blood, & T6 claws and possibly T6 fangs – Trolls/arctodus
T6 totems – Grawl/Sons of Svanir more towards north-eastern part of map

Also the dredge down in the southern cave drop Heavy Miner Bags like crazy. Doing a few of the DE’s down there with a friend is pretty easy and can easily net you 20-30 bags.

While Ori Ore is “rare” as in not as common, it is not technically a Rare material. Ectos are rare materials. I have gotten ori ores from Metal scraps and metal weapons many times. Although I cannot speak to the actual % chance of it, I know you you CAN get htme with a crude kit.

I set myself the goal of obtaining a legendary within a year of launch. (preferable before any major expansions)

I am well on my way. Have the precursor and Gift of Mastery. Nearing 200g for the achievement, then I will be able to finish out Gifts of Might and Magic.

Only major hurdle left is 96 charged lodestones, but I think I can handle that, will jsut take some time.

Balth is uncontested in HoD right now.

Orbs are only used for exotic jewels and the recipes for such cannot be discovered. You have to buy the recipes from the Karma merchant.

Still have yet to loot something other then a blue or thin air from a mob.

Also lodestones used to drop in the jade sea in fotm. But most people dont realize that was stealth nerfes and they no longer drop there.

This is the way they want it for some reason so dont kid yourself and think otherwise.

It is funny how people cry “stealth nerfs” just because they personally don’t see something. I got 1 lodestone (corrupted) and 1 core (destroyer) from the same lvl 2 jade sea chest last night.

On topic, I do agree that some balancing would be nice. Don’t think the lodestones for karma would work with their setup now. They son’t want to be able to “sell” karma, and having lodestone become soul or account bout would be awful. Just a hair bump in drop rates and more availablilty of charged lodestone dropping foes would do the trick I think.

They are destroying their own game and don’t seem to care or get that they are. When you SELL gold and don’t put in a large enough gold sink you will fubar your economy. They need to put in an NPC selling precursors for 200+ gold to help remove the gold they are injecting into the economy out of short term greed with gem sales.

They are not “selling” gold, as in creating it for sale. You can buy it, but it has to be generated first. Theoretically if someone bought $10,000,000 worth of gems (or whatever amount was required) they could buy all of the gold in GW2 (that people were willing to sell).

So “short term greed with gem sales” does not impact the economy the way that you are thinking it does. You would be completely correct if you could straight up BUY gold (from A-net). As it stands, you have to buy the gold from other players who earned it via normal routes, be that playing, quest rewards, TP or whatever.

I personally have never gotten an Onyx. But that being said, I have also farmed sparks for multiple hour stretches and got 0 lodestones. I use full MF gear and 30% MF food (Cup of lotus fries) and I still have only ever gotten 5 Charged Lodestones. I have probably farmed for them at least 10-15 hourts total. So yea…these foes definitely don’t squeeze them out easy.

Also my own experience from sparks vs elementals, the earth eles are much more difficult to bring down then the sparks. If you are farming solo I’d bet you can only kill half as many earth eles as sparks, so drop rate over time will be lower. That being said, not much better, but might be easier to farm Charged lodestones, sell and buy Onyx.

The sparks spawn while the Cathedral of Zephros (in ML) is uncontested. Fortunately it is not super difficult. I have opened that temple with as few as 4-5 people before. Then you get 2 hours of farm time.

My wife and I trade crafting mats…it is really annoying when I try to send her all my cooking mats, as after 2 e-mails I get suppressed due to excessive messaging.

You cannot transfer the stones/crystals, but you can craft the mystic clovers with another character as they are account bound. One I used up all the excess (over 200) skill points on my main I just leveled an alt doing map exploration (for the skill points).

Then I bought the Philosopher stones and did the combines on my alt. The resulting clovers and t6 mats, being account bound, stacked with my others just fine.

I play causally(2-3 hours at a time) and I was able to get 75 skill points in a week or so on an alt. A lot faster I think then farming exp on an 80 with map completion.

Finally got my 77!! 265 total combines for a 29% at the end. Had a string of luck at the end that brought it up from 23% when I was around 55 clovers.

Anyway good luck to all you others working on this. Now about those charged lodestones…

I am planning on leading a guild group to open up the Temple of Lyssa tonight. Wiki says that the DE chain starts off with the quest “Escort Historian Vermoth to the Altar of Tempests”.

There isn’t any info other than that. Does his quest start on a timer? or is it possible to kick off that DE chain somehow? Any infor on how to get it going would be greatly appreciated.

Tell your people to stop worrying about trying to gank, and actually capture stuff. Yesterday you had groups running around just trying to gank. There was enough of them to take back some of your stuff, but instead of trying they were just worried about ganking. Unsuccessfully at that. I’m not trying to say HoD sucks, I’m just saying that if you try to talk to them and say "hey you 10 guys running down the road chasing that mesmer (me lol, and they didn’t catch me) would go grab a supply camp we could probably take something.

:) Some of us are like starving dog pack…OMG IT’S SOMETHING WE CAN KILL!!! Chase it!!!! Comes from being up against servers so stacked that there were times we couldn’t get through a reinforced tower door with 3 rams before two zergs converged on us, lol.

Of course I kid some. I have been having fun in WvW this last week. We are still being dominated points wise, but have had some fun fights. It is gonna take us a few days to get out the the “All we can do is ninja camps” mentality.
