You know what this all sounds like to me? It sounds like ranged classes need their damage buffed to make up for lost booms etc. And melee classes should receive more damage mitigation for taking the risk. Both can deal competitive damage, range won’t get the extra defense because of their natural safety and melee can get a boost in survivability. Seems like a good way to play how you want and still be a contributing group member.

So everyone plays ranged weapons (elementalist probably) and stays in boon range in pve and no one plays melee leading to threads like this replacing ranged with melee?

It’s bad game design. Ranged classes are viable in other MMOs. In GW2, melee is preferred because of the short range on boons and heals. This is one of the reasons why I only do open world content where I can play whatever I want (I also prefer ranged combat and I’m anti-meta).

I know you probably hate meta so much you don’t bother to understand a single thing about it, but stop spreading misinformation.

Elementalist and Condi Ranger have meta builds for example. Both are ranged. Ergo ranged builds are not only viable but in some cases optimal in gw2.

Things like boon range help create play by giving positional play as a ‘challenge’ to play around.

@OP The problem isn’t necessarily ranged, it’s Ranger having the pet tax on its power weapons on top of the range tax and Longbow being a very selfish weapon, and a single target weapon.

By the way I play FFXIV but with a controller, I tried it on GW2 with an Xpadder and action camera ON, but I don’t like the fact that I can’t control the inventory without moving my mouse or the big quantity of AoE ground targets

Off topic but have you considered the steam controller? I personally love m&k too much in gw2 to make the permanent switch, but I’ve used this controller for couch play and it works great. The steam software is solid and there are existing profiles you can tweak to your preference. Feel free to drop me a pm, I can share my profile on steam for you or link the original I modified it from.

I can use my inventory and everything using its radial menus and touch pads, and with the action cam and fast casting/press and hold aoes you can get a lot further than just Xpadder using the touch pad and gyro for precision aiming (I tried Xpadder as well once upon a time)

Take off the zerk armor and use something that will help you survive.

Less DPS is better than being dead.

On the other hand, going into these things with full soldier’s can actually make it harder to complete. Applied DPS is still one of the best defenses in the game. So while Deihnyx is correct, people need to understand not to take it too far.

To the OP, look at your traits and look at what you are fighting, and make the fight slanted in your favour. It will do wonders and has nothing to do with mechanical skills. If you use a metabuild for group content when soloing, you can probably switch things up to be more self sufficient for example. If you can’turn apply a certain attack style in a certain situation, your applied dps will tank even if you have top tier paper dps, and you should change it for the fight.

Also to the person saying skill clicking is OK and that the witch hunt is unjustified… sharpens pitchfork
If you have to click for health reasons you are at a disadvantage which sucks but comes with the territory (My knee joints are messed up, I can’t do back flips on a trampoline and I accept this). If you choose to click when you are fully capable, you are choosing to slow down your reaction times and reduce your situational awareness. If you are part of a team, you are bringing down your team. That is why people are against it.

Edit: Bringing my click rant to a full circle to be relevant. I know clickers who were able to solo the story, and some of their builds make the theory crafter in me die a little. If you are weak in one area, you can improve there or over compensate elsewhere to cover the weakness. It is not asking for the absolute best.

PVE is programmed to lose to players every single time.

What Yakez said is what I’ve been assuming. The icon and the text suggest that the item we have now is a container that has the actual pass inside, so once we open the container we have the perm pass that has no restrictions (avoids weird bugs of the restriction acting up on the pass itself in the future might be a extra benefit)

Please no more stat difference, I protested ascended as soon as it was clear they would have such a large distance years ago.

Also stat swapping is amazing, and the only reason I work towards legendaries. Don’t underestimate the power of having every stat combo at your disposal, including future ones.

Like you said, wardrobe is great. I would probably stopped coming back to this game if it wasn’t for things like the wardrobe keeping track of my progress in such a visible way

Open World and Instanced reward Tracks

Snow.2048

It’s a neat idea, but I think it takes away from the content. Why would you do dungeons if you can farm the rewards easier/faster in fractals? Who would go to bloodstone fen anymore if fractals is just as fast or faster? (as reward tracks give a bit more control over the rate of farming that blood stone fen lacks.)
Also to make it equal you’don’t have to remove most of the current rewards and put them behind their own track so you can’t get both at once, otherwise it’s just a flat buff to some of the most rewarding content in game.

Also I find this all a bit strange, you guys do know that the wvw tracks are only about 6mats/hour? If you want an ascended ls3 set as a wvw er, you end up going to farm the pve maps anyway. The only track remotely near worth it is rubies’ the rest I can farm all I need for 1 set in less time that it takes to get 50 of the mats in wvw. And I would have to give up other rewards either way, the OP gives the feeling like the wvwers don’t have any sacrifices
and can just do the daily farming after grabbing multiple tracks in a day (8h+ per track people, it’s slow af).

It’s a bit of the grass is always greener I think, reward tracks really aren’t as great as the pvers reward system.

Also a tip for the OP, farm the bosses not the nodes for wood (and rubies but rubies are still slow af). Hitting all the wood dropping boss event chains gets you to that 50 after two characters (9-12 from chests (skip skrilla if she isn’the up), 3 from dailys, 9-12 from the hearts you filled while doing the bosses/press, + any nodes you hit up on the way)

edit: the 6/hour is based on the rate without all the possible boosts in the game

Finally someone with the actual problem.

How do you deal with spiders making up a huge portion of core content and why is the mount the line for you?

Actually the fear is triggered when the spider looks too realistic and/or is too big. As long as it stays small or doesn’t enter into the realistic category, I can deal with it.

In the GW2 core, some rare vets really meet that requirement. The black widow pet doesn’t trigger any fear because she is not big enought (but I do find it very repulsive).

In the past I played Warhammer Online and the boss I hated the most because I spend the whole fight looking at the screen from the side was a giant spider in the Lost Vale

Anyway, as I stated before, I don’t see why the mount couldn’t be introduced because of arachnophobia, as long as you can disable the sight of it. I mean they did that with special effects already even if the reason why they did it is not the same.

Sorry I didn’t mean to gloss over your point, was just interested in your input on the discussion. I’ve seen cases where people have complete panic attacks at the thought of seeing an image of the phobia trigger, which may have colored my perspective of the issue (eg gw2 would not even be playable).

To address your point, the kind of solution you suggest is definitely an ideal compromise imo. Although fear of heights is another major phobia, and I find it strange the sudden interest in protecting phobias after creating an entire mechanic that triggers a different group.

What I’m saying in the end is that I don’t believe its actually out of any respect of phobia, its just a convenient tag.

Arachnophobia is a thing, yes. Getting anxiety over a 3D fictitious representation of a spider? Not so much. The people who do claim to be triggered by such things aren’t really triggered, they’re just attention-seeking [insert the other word for kittens here] with a victim complex.

You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about and you’re really lucky to not be affected by it at all. Even some pictures posted here are affecting me. Hopefully, they are small enough for me to avoid looking at them for too long.

But to be honest, I don’t care about people having an ugly spider mount as long as:
1. I get a graphical option to see something else instead (a scorpion, a gecko, a beetle or even a pink flying pig would do)
2. That option is enabled by default or at least I get a popup to ask me if I want to enable it the first time it would be added to the game

TLDR People who are scared of spiders to the point that the mount would distress them probably dropped this game before they ever reach the mount

There are various stores (including toy stores) that stock extremely realistic (far more so than one in this video game) plastic/rubber spiders/lizard/snake/rodent/scary-thing, prominently displaying said goods on their shelves and in their advertising. Some of these stores are part of far more successful businesses (we’re talking magnitudes of order here even) with even larger marketing research than Blizzard. However, both your argument and my counterargument are dependent on the same fallacy of assuming the real result of the research by interpreting the actions taken by the researchers.

To be fair, toy stores are not selling to customer A in a circumstance where customer B, who is phobic, might then be expected to be exposed to person A’s purchase on an ongoing basis.

Again, see almost every core map forest and cave has spiders, and not just ambient but giant ones that drop from the ceiling intenting to kill and eat you. [I say almost because I’m too lazy to check but it would not shock me it its 100% every core map has spiders].
Your analogy should be Customer A buy a product with potential phobic triggers in most of its content, including huge amounts this specific trigger. Customer B buys same product and is distressed. The store promises not to include any extra of this specific trigger, ignoring all other potential triggers and also ignoring the copious amounts of the trigger already present that will remain present. Customer C says, hey I liked that aspect and looked forward to seeing more. Can you please not cancel it? Now customer D is saying, “Hey C, that’s lame and mean of you! Don’t you care about B?”

Truth is, B probably has had enough and got his refund before C and D even started arguing. But the company’s stance and C’s claims now make the product look like it is not going to trigger anyone else every again when nothing has actually been changed.

Taking the scenario into the possible long term, this could bring future customers with similar problems to B into the nasty scenario in which they are exposed to the trigger unexpectedly. The company decision also opens doors for things like people with other triggers (eg heights) demanding or expecting their fears to be worked around (no gliding). Which is why some of the people on D’s side are speaking out against this illogical pampering behaviour now.

As a side note, to no one in particular, preventing exposure to someone’s irrational fear is not helping them, you are at best maintaining the bad situation. You might actually even be making it worse. For those of you fighting irrational fear, you should really try to beat it. I know personal story/expereinces but in the case of spiders, I got my girlfriend to hold a big hairy spider in a safe environment through gentle encouragement and she is no longer afraid of them. Still doesn’t like them, but I find that healthy survival instinct myself.
Another little example, when I was a kid I was terrified of the dark. When I started getting older (but still a kid) I would stay up and stare into the dark to overcome that fear, because I found it embarrassing. I was able to figure it out as a kid how to beat my own fears, its not complex science (psychology rarely is). If a nerdy little child can do it, so can you. And you’ll probably feel really good about yourself afterwards.

This matches my own experience in dealing with a fear of heights. Keep in mind though that, for some people, your described approach can actually make matters worse. And sometimes, much, much worse.[/quote]

I can agree with you fully on this.
However, I’m more callous in that regard and have little respect for those who won’t even try, because the risk of it getting worse to me does not outweigh letting it fester and potentially get worse on its own. But I’m sure some people benefit greatly from avoidance and get out of it on their own, and conquering the fear, no matter how you do it, is the key thing here.

Soulbeast was requested multiple times in that huge feedback thread years ago, I am happy to see it arrive.

However, the information so far (I watch the wiki mostly for elite specs because these streamers are failing to properly showcase on so many levels) makes me think that melding with your beast will be a huge damage loss, making it nonviable for the purpose I would most enjoy, namely petless Ranger. But this is just fear at this point and not based on anything subtantial. I really really want to see the traits, and hope we can see it the 11th.

That said, our traits have always been weird to play with, so I’ll probably try to make it work anyway xD

Edit: I like the condi clears though, might be worth slotting it as a defensive line.

I am really excited by the idea of the soulbeast, but a lot of how this pans out will depend on how they treat pet orientated traits.

For example, if empathic bond stops working when you are in soul beast mode, condition clearing would be a total nosedive even with this new heal. and that would be terrible in what is obviously an expansion that favors conditions over everything else (unless you are warrior and have a magic-negating elite spec).

still wish after all these years spirits would’ve gotten some love. i keep waiting for the day spirits are aura’s attached to the ranger and not some killable 3 hitpoint world of warcraft shaman totem.

I get the feeling that once you meld, a lot of those things may fail (which would be ‘acceptable’ because you can enter and exit beast meld.) It would be hilarious if you got the effects though (stuff like your crits give might to pet/pet crits giving bleed instead giving you both effects), which I would really think would be fun to build around.

Although its just speculation, I think in reality we’ll be enters beast mode to fire off one or two skills, then dropping it. If this is this case, I’d be far more worried about what happens to the buffs on the pet (if they get reset then melding isn’t going to be anything more than an opener in most cases).
-After looking at Auroras stream it looks like beast mode replaces f1-f4 with new f skills (3ish?) which confirms my suspicions when I started writing this. But maybe the f skills have great scaling/damage making up for the loss of the pet? I doubt it but I dream…

I too would love to see them revisit core ranger more. The buffs/changes since I took a break from ranger have been amazing but I feel like I have very little choice..

You’re comparing a contained environment of a MMO to… real life? As a gentle reminder, real life is much bigger so it’s easier to avoid. A MMO is a much smaller environment. Both ArenaNet and Blizzard came to this conclusion, but for some reason you (and a few others) seem to think you know better.

No. A game is way easier to avoid than massive store chains that are killing off all their small competition. You also missed the point completely and are still assuming the market research is saying something you are not privy to knowing and misusing it as fact.

Also read the rest because you seem to have missed other points that invalidate your statements. For example, you yourself can go log into the game and walk into almost any cave in any core tyria map and have spiders creepily ambush you from the ceiling or wander past.Or visit almost any forest. Seriously spiders are one of the most common mobs. Good luck avoiding all the spiders, you’d be stuck in the major cities and pvp. (wvw is crawling with um too)

Stop avoiding the important arguments stated, and instead start reasoning to answer questions like “Why are they ok, and suddenly the line must be drawn at mounts?”

You can attack my character as much as you want, I don’t care but at least bring some real meat to this conversation, because empty attacks on people personally don’t add anything and make you look bad. Especially when said attacks are based on poor reasoning on top of it. (see my previous post if you don’t understand why)

Gliding is a potential nerf to roaming in some areas, and means nothing in others.

I’m pretty neutral to gliding, its going to end up kittening me off pretty quick I’m sure. But its uses are comparable to mesmer portal bombs me thinks.

However territories on the other hand, that sounds like amazing groundwork to make essential future changes. I think its a great step!

Note: I don’t care either way about spider mounts.
TLDR: I think its probably just marketing scheme by withholding a desired object to boost reputation in the short term by showing sympathy to a minority group, and in the long term to be able to later release said object to greater success/sales due to people having wanted it and worked themselves up over it for so long. I fully expect to see it release in the future after the good guy anet benefit from withholding it now wears off.

So you honestly think that the 1 in 10 people who are scared of spiders should result to paying a professional to “cure” themselves just so you can have a spider mount?

That’s pretty kitten entitled. And fyi, no one asked the devs to remove spider mounts, teh devs decided internally to never even release it in the first place. Its 2 different things

So you really think that no one should be able to enjoy a spider mount because a small portion of the general population have unresolved personal issues they can’t be bothered to solve?

That’s pretty kitten entitled. And fyi, there are spiders in almost if not all core Tyria maps, which makes the entire argument silly.

[I use mimicry as a form of flattering here. <3]

Thanks for the “insight”, but I’d rather trust a large and successful business like Blizzard Entertainment and their psychoanalytical and market research instead of… well, you. It’s easy to see (for most people anyways) what they learned on the matter by taking a few moments by taking a look at their decision-making about spider mounts and arachnophobia. It seems like ArenaNet also likewise learned a hard lesson in it.

For example, you seem to be assuming that Blizzards research said spiders is bad, so they didn’t do it to protect sales. I would like to put forward that it is also possible that the research said spiders won’t actually do squat, but pretending to be sympathetic to a minority group would increase reputation that will results that will outweigh the benefits of including the spiders. Furthermore, withholding something to increase the desire and demand for it before releasing it could also be a factor, thus getting twofold benefit with this strategy.
Indeed, based on the fact Guild Wars 2 is already riddled with spiders, I find my suggested research outcome being more plausible/applicable for the GW2 situation, which everyone may disagree with of course, because it is still just guesswork.

As a side note, to no one in particular, preventing exposure to someone’s irrational fear is not helping them, you are at best maintaining the bad situation. Why are you doing this in open world when there are instances full of champs and legends even?

Google solo arah skips and you can practice against Arah bosses alone. It’s really easy to skip everything but the boss after a bit of practice, and the distance from way point to boss is usually not that bad.

Go to fractals solo from the comfort of Lion’s arch. Beyond a few that have mechanics requiring multiple people, most low level fractals are soloable. The boss fight fractals in particular are really easy to get into the action with a boss, but even the normal fractals pits you against a champion/legendary quite quickly, including the first one if you don’t have fractal levels yet.

If this is all too easypeasy, the Vale guardian raid is also a thing :P

Realistically, i think race is probably less likely than a new profession. They’d have to create (at least) a new city, starting zone(s), the first couple of story chapters…

I’d love it if i were wrong, but they haven’t made it easy on themselves to implement new stuff.

I see this argument all the time, and I just can’take let it stand.
First of all, they don’t have to create any of these things, it would be nice if they did. Imagine for example, the dominion of the winds gets attacked and opens its gates as a new raid/dungeon/meta event map. Completing it unlocks the race for the acount and they start in a refugee camp in lions arch. No story, no city, no starter zone. I don’t think this will happen, but stating it absolutely won’t ìs a bit silly.

Another example, again the teng. They get a new city (dominion). The dominion is already connected to a starter area, so why does everyone mention it. The levels don’t match but it could be as simple as making the city open world like several other cities but for level 1-5. 1 map, not the multiple everyone mentions

That said, I’must pretty sure they said they wouldn’the do it because it was too much work for too little gain in their opinion, but I don’the have quotes. Also I am completely neutral to a new race, I just find the arguments against a bit strange sometimes when their are already better explanations (eg too much work, don’t want) out there

Oh and the price sounds like you are buying exotic trinkets maybe? If so, the trinkets are probably also costing you a lot. In this cause go to the laurel vendor, get ascended trinkets (if you have Badges of honor from wvw they cost less laurels). Or if you have season three of the LS, you can farm winterberries in winterfrost frontier and get rings, backitem and accessories of any stat(unique so its not a full set but gives all stat choices pretty fast, other LS3 chapters give other things). They remain account bound so you can swap them around for testing different characters.

Can anyone make melee range combat work?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Snow.2048

Snow.2048

I don’t use range unless the situation really calls for it. A couple things.

Melee does more damage and hits more targets at once in general. Offense is the best defense, if it dies fast then you need less dodges.
For mesmer in particular you have 2 dodges, sword mainhand has an evade on 2 short cooldown, double block on shield, single block or interupt on offhand sword, double interupthe on shield, interrupts on f3, invulnerable on f4. As long as you time properly, you should be able to stay in melee without a problem in most situations.
Exotic gear is fine, in pve move towards full damage where you can. The shorter the fight, the less chance you have of making a fatal mistake. And learn from your mistakes, if one move seems like it destroys you, pay attention to how the boss moves and save 1 dodge for that moment, soon you will dodge it without thinking.

Hope it helps a bit

Devona is 2g-3g a piece, zerkers stat with strength runes which will do until you get the rune set of your choice.

Also if you feel like doing dungeons, full exotic is 14 daily runs (5 days) Citadel of Flame, Crucible of Eternity has zerkers. If you do wvw/pvp dailies, I believe 80 pots is a track, that’ll get you 3 weapons, 1 armor piece and 240 tokens. (14 runs OR 1 track 8 runs OR 2 track and 3 runs is a full set)

My wife ended up with an Elementalist. I also tried the Tempest build posted here and it worked pretty well.

I want to try the Druid and Dragon Hunter out as well. I normally buy a full set of Exotic gear whenever I try different builds out but it would be too expensive trying out multiple builds. The Ranger and Guardian currently have Berserker gear and I’m thinking about getting Rare gear for support builds. Does it make a big difference? Does it even matter for my purposes?

Elementalist duos can be pretty awesome as you can take turns migrating in and out of water when under pressure. I ran tempest paired with my gf’s (at the time) base glass cannon ele for claiming a guild hall back when HoT was new and it worked quite well.

As to the gear question. In the core game open world, exotics are not necessary, rare will be fine for the most part. However, you should keep in mind that some combinations that work well with exotics+ might not make the cut in rares due to the lower stats, so for experimenting I prefer to grab an exotic set. That said, it probably won’t matter that much, although you can get materials to craft ascended one day by salvaging the exotics if you find a set you don’t like.

Furthermore, completing 3 dailies (usually 10 min work only, especially if you branch out to wvw or pvp to do the easier ones with just the two of you (eg monuments, camps or sentries in wvw, or get into an empty custom map in pvp and do the dailies with just the two of you) will get you 2g. Thats one full set in seven days, or 3-4 pieces of most other exotic stats in one day . Indeed the 20-30s for a rare non-zerker stat makes the 60s for an exotic non-zerker stat piece almost a no brainer.

As a side note, the new HoT stats are a different matter entirely, and if you want those you should do some research (eg the exotics are usually not worth getting over stat changing ascended gear unless you like farming the story)

How about none of us buy it until they finish giving all aspects of HoT that was paid for including the legendary weapon set? =P

But on topic, if the leaks are as complete as they seem, there looks to be less in this xpac than HoT. If this is the case, it should be cheaper anyway. If you can’t even provide what you set the bar as 50$ xpac content in the required time frame, step down to a smaller xpac for a smaller price, but I might just be crazy.

As for the tiered option, Lanfear’s example is exactly the numbers (even if pulled from thin air) that I would consider paying for a GW2 xpac on release all things considered. And there are ALOT of salty salty things to go with the popcorn to be considered.

Play versatility and dps meter's

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Snow.2048

EDIT: Sorry wall of text incoming

I hate to be that guy but you do know that the meter is just an improvement in measurement, a tool and nothing more. Before it wasn’t necessarily that they were more welcoming, they just had crappy metrics to go by so people could be carried without realising it/who it was.

If a group asks for a DPSer, and you fail to fulfil that role to the needed standard, you broke your end of the social contract you agreed to when you joined that group. Likewise, if the group needs a certain extra role best filled by your class and you build doesn’t fill that, you’ll need to make up for that by being superior in other aspects and let them know so they can fill the blanks. If your build is really amazing, then you can measure it yourself and you’ll know if it makes the cut, and with that data can prove it. If you lose some dps to provide an essential aspect to the group, you’ll need to weigh that up against what other classes provide at what cost. That’s how you build for a team. If you build for yourself without thinking about others, you may indeed be great at carrying, but you’ve failed to understand the exercise of optimisation.

Which leads to why PUGs want meta builds for high tier content. They need to know what each person does to make sure all necessary aspects are met, from boons to dps to condis to healing. If a meta build joins, they can check off the list. If a non-meta build joins, they might wrongly check off the list if you didn’t mention anything. And if you do mention it, but you are taking up a slot that really needs to do something your build can’t then you probably will be kicked, regardless if your build is great otherwise. Of course pure dps has it easier, you just have to provide the best numbers consistently in the given time frame.

As a side note, I’d like to believe your build is great and that you do great things with it, but I’ve heard quite a few people saying similar things about their build, then doing things like standing AAing a boss in melee range with a Ranger LB or Mes GS. When I try to talk to them about how their weapons work they clam up and say this like “This is the build that I do the most DPS with because I die otherwise.” This game is old, and if I’m sick of seeing things like that with my sporadic play style, people who actually do these runs on a regular basis must have torn their hair out by now.

Putting it all together: Join a guild, build a team together and you can plan and thus easier play non meta builds. Its really fun theory crafting on top of that. However, if you PUG you’ll probably need to fulfil expected roles of the meta of your class, like it or not.

I know no one likes getting kicked, I got kicked in the last pug I did in a low level fractal but I also know I deserved it for zoning out and not progressing the dungeon properly. Regardless of my build and play being solid otherwise. You need to help the team, not just be good individually!

Disclaimer: I’m not using external dps meters and I avoid pugging like the plague nowadays (only if I’m really in the mood for something but no one else in my guild is). You can call me elitist if you want, but I don’t actually play anywhere near an elite level anymore, if I ever even did. I’m just trying to explain why I think this happens.

You can turn it off in options, first tab the last of the first series of checkmarks (I went into options to try to turn it off immediately, I’m glad they included that option.)
On that note, for those of you who like organising their inventories and dread the terrible compact button, there is an option to turn that off as well in the same box, dunno if that is new as well as I haven’t played much in a while.

Also no one uses it while I’ve played. It might take more time to get people used to, though I doubt it (if you want to join a squad you find tag and click)

I’ve seen it, it happens, its funny, the rage and salt in /t when so many people jumped that no one on the map got the bonus is even funnier. Just play the game and have fun.
It only happens in the dead hours.

Please keep the outnumbered bonus the same, lowering won’t actually stop people from doing it. To add to what others have said, it gives more incentive to play in odd hours as well.

outnumbered bonus abuse

Snow.2048

I know its fun to give the OP a hard time but come on, you know if people can do this they will do it.

I don’t consider it abuse or whatever as its just getting to the maxed out reward faster not actually getting more, but I commanded on an outnumbered borderland off and on this morning and the waypoint/near camp was filled with semi-afk players (Heck I even joined them when I took a break for breakfast) so there are people farming this bonus. And where there is farming, there will be optimisation (eg outnumbered bonus).

More to the OP’s point, the outnumbered bonus would often disappear on the tick, indeed I received 50 outnumbered ticks for the 83 ticks I have so far. In team chat it was clear people were doing what the OP described, as well as me seeing a sudden influx at the waypoint at the tick at one point that disappeared after.

I’d like to reiterate that I don’t care nor do I think this is a problem, but if you have outnumbered BLs, people can and will do it. I have no proof other than my testimony, because I didn’t care.

My friend had the same problem, as far as I know you have to go and do the first HoT step to unlock to make it go away.

Pressing escape with nothing else selected should make it go away from a bit, but it’ll keep coming back until you do the story step and select a new mastery, its pretty annoying.

Edit: If you recently hit level 80, then it isn’t a patch bug, it was you capping the xp track.

The named mercs make for some interesting encounters; I don’t think they need to change, especially since they are all easily avoided. Think they are too powerful? Don’t fight them.

I don’t read the OP as a call for npc nerfs, but more an indirect ask why new skills are being made for npcs and not given to players

Legendary Armor and WvW [Merged]

in WvW

Snow.2048

Yes, as an incentive for raiders, but I’m talking about in the over scope of the game and MMO’s in general. Why is raiding almost always the magical child?

The answer to that is quite simple, if a bit disheartening. The idea is that greater challenges should give greater rewards and vice versa. Therefore, the greatest reward (legendary armor) should be behind the most challenging gameplay (which for better or worse, ANET has decided should be raids)

Raiding is chosen partially because of precedence (WoW) showing it works (making it a safer investment), and partially because it creates a controlled environment that requires a group of people (teamwork skill) to do their roles to a certain level of proficiency (skill at their individual role), thus creating a challenge with a skill bar.

There are youtube vids of people soloing arah bosses naked. You don’t need ascended stats in pve with two exceptions, which conveniently also drop said gear as you progress. To those worried about a gear treadmill, there is no gear treadmill, simply the entry bar to fractals and raids. Fractals tried to get the progression with agony as a self contained thing (I personally liked this whole setup from a design pov when it came out), raids needs something shiny to justify the effort put into it. Enter legendaries, which were just equal to the lower tier gear as best stats in the game until people complained enough for it to get stat swapping. (An upgrade, but in options not power)

Its simply a matter of people needing a sense of progression to keep them going.

Playing the devil’s advocate aside, I used to be a wvw player and legendary armor would be lovely for my guys with 2-3 sets of exotic gear there (the small bump from exotic to ascended is just gravy, stat swapping is where it is at yo). WvW legendary armor please?

Just because the xp bar is full doesn’t mean you have to stop? My bars are full half the time and I actually have points to spend…

Back in my day, when you hit 80 it was pretty much stopped as well, you got skill points for ‘leveling’. Instead of grinding masteries you could maybe just do something and have fun and treat the game like it was a game. Or quit, whatever goats your float.

Well, that's my complaints addressed

Legendary weapons

Snow.2048

When you failed to get the new legendaries, fractal leader board, etc, etc the first time around it was bleh, but they were just plans.

When you put them in the expansion content and advertised as major points in some cases, it sent the message that if you had the direct financial support to do these things, they would get done.

When you postpone the legendaries indefinitely after it got the funding (part of the price of the xpac included these legendaries, otherwise its false advertising), you are postponing core content of the xpac that was paid for, as it was a part of the xpac features. It doesn’t matter what your definition of core content is for the game, HoT core content was what was on the figurative box advertised.

But everyone will forgot this within a month, just like everything else. Maybe you’ll even have a flash HoT sale a month or two before making it f2p, just for old times sake, eh?

[Suggestion] Return Guild Influence

No Riku, they scrapped it. Here is a breakdown of all new guild currencies + how to get

You have:
Favor → reward from guild missions
Aetherium → overtime (mine)
Resonance → Rare bonus drops from guild missions (this is what was supposed to replace influence)

Thus guild missions is the only way to actively help your guild, and its hardcapped…

Ergo, I say return influence to do something or make resonance the new influence (like it was supposed to be) for what OP said, please.

Lanfear, you know people don’t teach kids anymore. They dump um at the nearest daycare so mommy &daddy (or mommy&mommy, or daddy&daddy, or Idon’tidentifywithagender&genderstereotypesaresoooopasse) can continue their own lives. Also TV.

Besides, the real problem is obviously the extreme racial bias against skritt. It teaches kids that immediately resorting to violence and physically abusing people different than you is ok if its in the holiday spirit. (Note: While rewarding you for doing exactly what the skritt are trying to do)

Missed my point. Not doing nothing for guild support, doing what you want for the support.

Also, you could keep enough important buffs [highly guild dependent) up (even in wvw) with minimal effort, so that point is just ignorant bs. (10k+ With 6 man is doable)
Yes commendations are easier now, etc etc but that is not what I’ saying

1. They reset progress, repackaged and sold it.
2. They limited options when it comes to developing a guild, turning a work together to earn points into a gold grind.

It could be the best reskin in the world, but it still is a paid reskin that deleted the original so you have to pay or gtfo. Hope you guys enjoy next xpac in which they remove an even larger portion of the core/HoT and resell it (its been getting steadily worse if you pay attention). You all deserve it.

Got your mail but by the gods I had trouble reading your posts…

From what I understand, correct me if I’m wrong, you want to make it so we pick a team (“Globe”) that has 4 maps to defend, and can attack x amount of other maps whenever we want with a limit x on the players.

Its better than that rumoured alliance system but I’m not really feeling it as a solution. What is to stop top tier globes from farming weaker globes to oblivion? (if its somewhere in your faq or something, I can’t read it sorry, I tried I really did.)
