No special requirements are needed to reach him.

OK wow, thx for that, i was running laps to the NE where Hailstone Floe is written on the map, Judgement Pass is far from there.

Where is the weapon specialist for Cold-Forged Exotic Weapon?

Wiki doesn’t offer any maps to show exactly where, it just offers character pictures which is annoyingly useless. It says hes in Bitterfrost Frontier, Hailstone Floe, Judgment Pass.

I must be blind because Ive done laps around Hailstone Floe and cant find him. Where is he exactly?

So I see most builds encourage you to run Elixir X over supply crate if your running scrapper build. I’m not a fan of Elixir X for a variety of reasons. But I was wondering if I chose to run supply crate over Elixir X would that be a completely stupid idea or if I was simply more comfortable using supply crate it would be acceptable.

So Im asking should I suck it up and get comfortable with Elixir S or would most people think that running supply crate isnt a deal breaker?

I agree that the counter magic/beam mechanic wasn’t messaged adequately. There probably should have been a more explicit callout during the training fights with the golems. I broke both of the golems and had no idea there was a tether/beam mechanic. I thought just breaking the bloodstone was what took their shields off.

I had exactly the same experience.

It’s boring on the field and off. Their forum warriors have been posting the same stuff for years.

In any event, BG would either zerg everything down with double numbers for the win or hibergate and ‘let you win’, either way congratulating themselves.

Whilst that one kid who decided to magically start pvp for the first time because of that shiny backpack or that icon next to your name, who has no idea of game mechanics, who has no idea of classes, picks only meta builds and steam rolls his way to diamond and legendary rank.

There would definitely be an element of getting carried if he got that far, which isn’t entirely impossible from what I’ve seen.

What’s worse is the current system doesn’t acct for good players swapping to an alt acct.

It makes sure a player with poor mmr will never progress because they’re constantly placed in games they’re supposed to lose, facing good players with good mmr, in good teams.

My Experience Getting to Legend Division

in PvP

Posted by: SoPP.7034

SoPP.7034

The OP doesn’t factor MMR at all.

MMR had a HUGE impact on my performance in League’s when comparing my main and alt acct. I didn’t ‘learn’ anything new as I flipped back and forth between them, my alt acct. just had better MMR and so I was matched with better MMR players, so naturally I won more.

In my opinion, the OP was just passed by everyone with better MMR so was able to progress in the end, as his MMR became better than those within his division/pip range.

My main struggled to get to Legendary while my alt breezed to it. Season 2 MMR was more about placing you in games you were meant to win or meant to lose.

It wasn’t about having a good game.

I shouldn't be in Leagues

in PvP

SoPP.7034

Because I was given the opportunity to get achievement points and other shiny stuff.

That’s pretty much why I participated.

If WvW had been given the same kind of attention that PvP does I’d HAPPILY have made the switch.

The biggest barrier, of course, is that the participation in leagues might not be robust enough without all the shiny stuff

Which given how Season 2 played out is possibly true. Someone got stuck in MMR hell so the rest of us could progress. I doubt the people with losing streaks played because it was fun.

I won’t play in leagues again after this season.

I might play a little, but I doubt I’ll push for legendary again. I really just don’t enjoy PvP conquest enough to play for that level of prestige.

My question for competitive folks: Would a title not be enough? Perhaps based more accurately than the level of your performance rather than a binary legendary/nonlegendary achievement status? Would it not be a better measure of skill to have a cooler title based upon the legendary tier you achieved before the season ended?

There has been a % of higher level players that were more interested in farming lower divisions and getting multiple accounts into legendary than playing more reasoned, balanced games. Chaith had this to say about it:

Can’t speak for those that do, this season, but like most things in life, to each their own. Perhaps more incentive to queue in Legend would curve the issue, such as actual rewards, not counting the 2 dye and 5g.

So perhaps a title isn’t enough.

Tbh I’m surprised you would cheapen your brand by responding with personal insults, and making inferences that simply aren’t true. But then again, am I the one that hit a nerve? Perhaps try some new strats when competing with EU, farming isn’t one of them.

S1 provides context, S2 is the same dog with different fleas, so there’s that.

But please explain why multiple accounts into Legendary is a thing, instead of playing your main in legendary. I doubt I’ll get a sincere response, after all legendary team farming soloqers in season 1 was acceptable, sorry if they’re scarred for life but they need to move on. amirite.

SoPP.7034

It’s similar to the amber farming of season 1. They’ll tell you it’s because of queues or w/e reason seems reasonable.

However there’s a level of acceptance, in the upper tiers of GW2 PvP gaming, at least in NA that farming is acceptable, which is what these accts are designed to do. Because they can keep their MMR high, they’ll always be matched into good teams with ANet’s current system so always stomping other teams. Basically keeping the low mmr players low.

The attached picture is a mix of ESL players, these guys were farming this for the better part of 2 days, hour after hour in season 1 and ANet MMR determined these games were OK.

I’m curious if this happens on EU, or is accepted because it always strikes me as a cheapening of ones brand, Pro players becoming farmers. Perhaps it explains why EU performance is always better than NA.

SoPP.7034

how can you state in another thread that you are aware of the design flaws of this season and complain it’s the players fault? Seriously???

Woah, easy partner. I believe in the faults that I’ve spoken off.

This thread was born more from the fact that even after making S1 legendary and currently S2 diamond I had a sense of it being a lot more work than I’d anticipated. Some of it skill, some of it luck.

Ithilwen.1529 post just made me think deeper about that concept and why it was that I had a certain level of ‘surprise’ despite my level of ‘success’ in leagues. When in his case, the situation seems far worse.

As such it was MY historical subconscious understanding of GW2 and its casual nature than anything else that lead to this post, Ithilwen.1529 merely provided the catalyst.

Tbh, if I blame anyone it would be the PvP team for creating a somewhat jarring experience that’s out of line with GW2 history. But that’s getting into a different conversation all together.

So no I don’t blame the player, if anything, I’m sympathetic to players like Ithilwen.1529 and their plight.

This post started off as a reply, but i decided to give it its own thread:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/Stopped-dead-on-Wings/first#post6066854

This defeatist attitude is exactly why you’re not going to get the wings

It is, but then again he’s not exactly wrong either. While ‘mmr hell’ gets thrown around a lot, his 30+ losing streak is certainly pushing in that direction. Additionally his ability to play well was compounded by him aiming for the rewards which meant he was playing professions he was probably no good on, further compounding the issue. Just to be clear I’m not disagreeing with you, i just wonder if his issue is synonymous with something else.

For the longest time ANet has made itself a casual game with fashion wars being end game content. These shiny wings of a reward would have brought in many players that had this mindset.

While it has its history in ‘spam 1 to win’ and many people were unhappy with just HOW casual GW2 had become. Its also fair to say that ANet historically encouraged this type of behaviour. So while we see a move to hard content, such as raids, there’s still a level of press 1 to win.

So while the PvP team has every right to create a league that only a select few will be able to obtain the rewards from, is it any real surprise the toxicity that has come from this. GW2 has changed a lot since its vanilla days and some would say for the worse.

Just to be clear, I’m not saying that everyone should be able to get the glowing animated wings. But the fact that we have the toxicity that we do, are people really surprised? Has the PvP team gated content behind a higher level of skill despite historically being part of a company that encouraged casual (almost afk) behaviour that could still obtain rewards.

tldr: The historical casual nature of GW2 is why we have the current level of toxicity that we do. The PvP team underestimated its casual player base.

My alt acct has had the easiest ride.

The mistake would seem to be that I didn’t just 100% optimal play style on my main. Words like ‘variety, testing, experimentation, fun!?’ are a big fail in season 2.

If you’re really as good as you think, you should have a tip-top MMR in no time at all.

Pro players complained about this in season 1, so it got changed. Pro players now complain of being bored in legendary league so now take their alts through to legendary all over again because they can do it so quickly thanks to season 2 -.-

10/10 to the OP

The differences between my main acct and my alt acct are striking.

The OP pretty much nailed why there is such a stark contrast.

You still may not have won the match

Which is that really needs to be said for season 2.

So just to reiterate,1 ele wouldn’t have made any difference.
