The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”
Initially I skipped this thread because it came across as something akin to a hyperbole.
But then I took a step back and considered the historical implications of actions in WvW (ruins/bloodlust). I began to think it wasn’t such an outlandish concept.
Now having acquainted myself more with the update that’s coming and reading through other posts on the forums.
Further more consider the PvP thread and the amount of dev focus that’s getting compared to the WvW one.
None of it looks promising.
I’m starting to get a bad feeling about this update, but time will tell…
Even in GW1, you couldn’t do it outside of combat in an instance / match.
4 weapon combo slots were available in/out of combat and in an instance in GW1.
Anyone hoping we will get more things crossed off the list?
OK! So…..
It turns out he teleports aound the map from one location to the next staying at each for a period of about 5-10mins there abouts.
In any event a group of us just waited at the gangplank spot to find him having unsuccessfully chased him around the map.
So its one of those RNG, press ‘F’ achievements -.-
Followed this guide:
http://dulfy.net/2014/03/04/gw2-battle-for-lions-arch-achievement-guide/
and can’t find him :/
GW2 is on it’s last leg
PvP wise maybe but PvE is still strong and at least from my perspective WvW is still strong.
yeah i even have people from BG hitting me up in game after some posts i made playing the victim ‘poor us’ card. Kinda funny..
I’ve seen that happen to others, getting chased up in game…..
By all means disagree on the forums to what people have posted but nerd raging in PM’s looks more like desperation.
Torment weapons trivialized by being reduced to RNG/gemstore purchase.
The pit just gets deeper.
I think ANet has done something about it.
Done but not really solved or fixed. The event is mainly heirloom farmers and afkers nowadays. So for the sake of repeating myself, people late to the party, much like the Tower of Nightmares, are going to have trouble getting the events done and get their AP’s.
Are you an Asura
Either way it’ll be a Chronomancer. Wait, what?
Pretty sure he’s being funny
(Nobody is supposed to know of our war chest that we will use to buy 20 EU guilds from Piken in S2… RP servers unite)
ykyk have my babies!
Kazo is all TC natives, just reorganized under a new guild tag >_>
A new guild? You probably used gold to pay for influence for this guild too?
UPDATING: TC uses gold to pay for new EU guild
prepare for PvP by doing PvE.
That’s so true.
EDIT: Agree with sigil stacks too. It promotes a type of game play that I’m not particularly fond of. People actively getting/protecting their stacks sometimes at the detriment of others.

I find that over time Anet has tended to increased the difficulty of their content;
Specifically the OP mentioned a move towards zergs and group events rather than individual challenge which is the context of his argument. Individually you don’t matter in world boss events, the challenge is organising a mindless zerg which again, isn’t what he’s talking about but what you seem to be. WvW which he also mentions can come down to individual performance but really depends on what your doing there.
Dungeons are challenging but not Hrouda’s? Atherblades is maybe what your referring to but even then.
EDIT: And my information points specifically to Hrouda’s involvement in the Gauntlet, but w/e feel free to link your source.
Queen’s Jubilee was done great, there was content for zerging, and challenge arenas for those who wanted it.
Dear Nick,
I understand your feelings and feel exactly the same. WvW is about the only current content I care for and things like the Queens Gauntlet is about the only update where I actually felt excited and challenged HOWEVER.
There is a difference and that is what Ive come to realise and accept. GW2 has defined itself as a mainstream game and as such dont expect more challenging content like the Queens Gauntlet.
The epitome of this was when ANet let Robert Hrouda go, who was the architect behind the Queens Gauntlet.
Feel free to visit the Dungeon section to see his last comments. You cant find them directly because they were deleted but many of those entertaining people in the dungeon thread saved it.
In any event it pretty much stated that ANet were focused on more mainstream content that could be accessed by the majority.
Even people with a lack of ability pay for gems too.
If you /invite people to your group then can get hold of your name.
My favorite thing to do if people troll me while offline is to send them an in game mail saying ‘Forgot about this didn’t you genius’.
In the event of a commander tag update they should rename the commander tag to ‘Ahmrill tag’.
If indeed they EVER update the commander tag Ahmrill will have been one of the people that repeatedly reminded us and developers just how poorely implemented the current commander tags are.
The problem is that a lot of us weren’t using them prior to the announcement. I think I had like 200 or so. I’m down to 120 or something like that, but still, not enough time to use them all.
This is pretty much me, I’d accumulated a lot and wasn’t a hardcore PvP so they just seemed to build up.
Since the announcement I spend enough time in PvP to get my dailies done but it hasn’t done much to eat through my numbers, I still have 100+.
We’re not saying we are going to do nothing because we said we would do nothing.
In future you might want to think about this more:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loss_aversion
Better plans should have been made because as has been explained you haven’t given enough time to use the boosters. This whole ‘were just going to do nothing’, looks more like a failure to plan, prioritize and implement.
I’ve seen some good suggestions about how left over glory boosters could be used that aren’t unreasonable in the face of people that have already used them.
The only time I’ve seen a guild matter is in WvsW and that’s usually because of their level of teamwork.
This is prob the single most thing that keeps in interested in this game. I tend to go through the motions when soloing my dailies etc in PvE, but I <3 the community behind WvW. But just as you said for most if theyre not interested or not prepared to try you don’t really have to involve yourself in it.
I was there right at the beginning and people caught on pretty quickly what was happening, then started hammering out the AP’s. This was the first couple of days.
By day 3 there were still people who would call out and rally people for events but you started to see the farmers/afkers.
By the 5 day mark, it was a solid farm event.
The Tower of Nightmares was the same, trying to get to the top was near impossible towards the end because of the fact there was no reason for others to return. Whats happening in LA now is the same concept, its just people farming instead.
Thats something that ANet really needs to consider.
Personally I wish they’d kept the Quaggan lake and then made a new map using what they made from the ruins and build on it, then rotate the maps.
People would have maps they preferred so people would still complain (different dog with different fleas).
But the fact that we simply lost the Quaggan lake is a disappointment.
I agree with this thread.
There was a greater connection between you and your titles in GW1 compared to GW2.
Honestly aside from ones that made me laugh (Omnomnivore) the rest were mere passing moments at best.
I got GWAMM in GW1 a long time ago, I’ve seen no reason to swap it out.
Take the first 2 posts and put them together… that’s what I think.
It should have been in game and in exploring the atlas it wasn’t so much a problem I just wasn’t particularly impressed.
(Motions with Hands)
“Move along, move along”
GW2 is the most unbalanced MMO I’ve played when it comes to PvP. There’s not even a hint of balance between classes.
While comments like this make me roll my eyes.
I’m sure you’ve implemented qualitative and quantitative measures in your research?
I don’t think warrior is overall more dominant than ele at it’s peak atm.
That’s interesting to read. I’m a filthy casual when it comes to PvP and sometimes it’s hard to have perspective on people’s comments when there’s so much QQ.
(edited by SoPP.7034)
I saw that post too, with the imminent release of GW2 in China and some dev comments around how interest from China in GW2 WvW was unprecedented and significantly more compared to NA (Link?).
EotM was an invention to bypass the huge queues for WvW. I read comments on the forums that at release the super stacked servers would have 4 hr queues in NA. If they’re expecting more from China then EotM is merely a logical introduction so people aren’t left hanging for hours.
Thats probably the main thing i hate about EoTM’s is that while I’m there I lose my servers identity.
That’s something I experienced too. Don’t get me wrong I met some great people in the EotM but it was a passing moment.
Community for me is a HUGE part of what makes WvW is what it is. People I associate with who aren’t friends per se but I know them, understand them and want to play WvW along side them.
Never happened to me. But i am always afraid when i see 2 or more guys from the same guild in fractal pug group.
I’ve never been kicked per se from a long run, but there’s always that potential. My feelings tend to be split when joining a guild/friend run….
I’ve had groups where the guild/friends were efficient and its great to see such a level of coordination and Ive literally slipped into the group and had some of the best runs ever HOWEVER
There’s also groups where it’s obvious that their egos out outweighed their own ability. So rather than having a conversation about their own builds or perhaps the fact that they cant %#@ing play. The just drop the groups fail on the ‘pug’.
They seemed to be held back by “other forces” within anet
I disagree with that.
If you’d seen Sacrx’ NDA leak you’d know how PvP was mismanaged from the ground up. How it was deemed that conquest style was the best form of PvP. How for the longest time the WvW team had to put their ideas through the PvP team and in spite of this WvW emerged more successful.
I’ve stopped playing Skyhammer, because I’ll get a raged induced ban.

Proposal Overview
The use of choke points, map design that has variety with twists and turns while traveling that disrupts open field fighting.
Goal of Proposal
Make zerging less effective and encouraging groups to break down to capture objectives. Organised smaller groups can have more of a advantage.
Proposal Functionality
EotM design makes roaming with small groups and individual play more user friendly. Its design makes it easier for these groups to run/hide or surprise other groups much easier than what happens in direct open field fights in the borderlands.
Associated Risks
Some people enjoy zerging. Its a challenge to find the sweet spot between encouraging effective/coordinated play and someone who enjoys to log on and follow a large zerg.
One of the issues I had with EotM was it so hard to catch up with your group if you died on the far side of the map. However such a process contributed to the attrition of large uncoordinated groups which I agree with.
Try reading the OP again.
it’s still relatively fresh for a dead horse.
Not much of it left (drinks)
Honestly? I was a GW1 player……
I played GW1 a lot and so migrated to GW2 at release. It is a quality product and with Mike O’Brien in charge I’m not overly concerned with what GW2 does at this time. However there are concerns for what I see as the more ‘bureaucratic’ elements that make GW2 more of a business and less of a game…..
Does that make sense?
Anyways I like GW2 but its not GW1, I stick around mainly for WvW. Without the fights, the variety in fights you can create and the communities behind them, I wouldn’t be half as interested in GW2.
Quickly? People complainted about it almost since release.
Exactly
It’s part of the game but people/guilds caught doing it are usually laughed at by others and a source of amusement for using what many consider a cheap trick.
You can do it, but it’s not classy.
Why would they push ahead with it quickly?
Precursors are prohibitively expensive items that only a select few can afford to buy in game.
The rest, in particular casuals with more rl money than time will just convert gems to gold.
I honestly think we would all be surprised just how much money ANet has made from people buying precursors/legendaries.
Thanks Chris, I’m one of those that hasn’t contributed much to the CDI process because it all came across as ‘walls of text’ and a ‘bunch of links’.
I look forward to the evolving process.
The people who say they don’t care about PPT with a straight face are only making excuses for why they are losing.
I play in a guild that doesn’t particularly care much for ppt. They organise a lot of GvG and recently even organised a scrimmage in eotm with guilds from a different server the day after reset. And I have to say it’s been some of the most exhilarating experiences I’ve had in game.
The fact that I come from the server that’s currently beating you really throws your ideas into the air. My guess is you were thinking of the majority of other servers you would face off against when you made your comments.
Another 2v1 thread? Some of you must be new to WvW.
Snip
TLDR: It’s known as the Prisoner’s Dilema.
Just did this for moa’s. I dry humped the area until they popped, escorted them the entire way staying inside the circle tagging mobs as I went, not a single one died and when it completed it didn’t update, like i hadn’t participated at all.
Sigh
Is it a crapshoot? Should i have used a staff ele and aoe everything or used my zerker thief and finished one mob down.
I’ll prob wait a few days till they iron bugs out and follow dulfy -.-
EDIT: FYI someone explained that you have to finish a mob/mobs that are associated with that specific event to get the achievement. So it’s zerker thief i need then.
(edited by SoPP.7034)
And now we have the possibility of mid-tournament bandwagoning
Good point, if its clear who is going to win many will jump onto that server provided there’s still time to have their rewards switch to it.
This thread is depressing to read. Because my take on the toons I dont use often is pretty much in line with what most people do; farming, world events etc.
I did hope I’d learn something i was missing out on, turns out my 8 lvl 80’s are axactly where theyre meant to be :/
Don’t worry, I’ll repeat myself as much as neccessary
There won’t get lost something ^^
Wall of text incoming.
developed from Season 1.
Give credit to where it is due, seasons was not the reason why that happen.
I did say develop from Seasons. That is when the cracks started to become obvious.
I’d always see Grouch afk in the mists, never actually saw him play…….
Then again I’m a filthy casual so….
I think people just see it as “evil”
What? People (so you say) think stacking is tanking because its evil….
Stacking isn’t GW2’s tanking, but is the most efficient way of doing most things in PvE.
Because it stacks boons? …..
Zerg meta and stacking to mitigate damage. Tanking is tanking and stacking is stacking so there are exceptions but the OP is right. Stacking as a form of tanking as define by the OP is correct.
EDIT: Getting back to the OP. GW2 meta is better than the trinity because of the flexibility to professions in groups imo. However I wouldn’t necessarily say current meta in GW2 is great either…
(edited by SoPP.7034)
Sandwichmancer of course.
And it’s super OP right now.
The stuff of legends.
Seasons did more harm than good.
We went from having healthy competition between 3 servers to 1 now tanking itself in NA. All of which developed from Season 1.
