The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”

NPC AI is predictable yet some state that encountering a random player in PvP is less challenging?
Less challenging is the correct word. Predictable AI are less predictable and more challenging than 100% of WvW players and 99% of PvP’ers.
Some interesting reading from the Dungeon section.

Predictable AI are less predictable and more challenging than 100% of WvW players and 99% of PvP’ers.
That’s entirely subjective and not quantifiable at all.
Incidentally I don’t. I prefer WvW over PvE, while it has it’s short comings the variety that exists in fights you encounter is 2nd to none; zerging, solo roaming, havoc groups and genres born from WvW such as GvG. Getting back to the OP, this is why I don’t like sPvP and it’s conquest mode, variety is minimal.
I can understand when people talk of consistency. You would get that more from a dungeon than in PvP.
While doing dungeons you look can impose self-challenege and enhance your encounters, that is try to increase your dmg %, shave seconds off your best times etc. However, NPC AI is predictable yet some state that encountering a random player in PvP is less challenging? Perhaps it’s better to state ‘frustrating’.
It manages to completely lock down your ability to play, no other skill manages to accomplish it in the same way. On occasions I literally felt like I’m tapping my fingers waiting for the immobilize to finish so that I can keep playing.
I can appreciate immobilizers in game but given that GW2 is encouraged to be a fluid playing game, stacking immobilize seems excessive and contrary to this.
It’s amusing in the stupidest way.
One time I was locked down for what seemed like an absolute eternity. It was a zerg fight in WvW, the immobilize lasted so long I managed to have a small conversation with myself:
Immobilized “Ugh I was having some good fights too. Oh no…. the enemy train is heading this this way. No wait, it’s passing I think, but I’m still taking some damage, I hope I’m ok”. Zerg passes “Oh thank god for that, that was close” Immobilize ends.
What if … you youtubed a run through? Or joined a teaching run? Or newbies only?
I don’t mind explaining to people, just don’t be a newbie and join an experienced only run.

Thx Khani /15charr
Thx, just tried today and was a lot of fun.
…marry Trahearne, they will have a baby.
The baby will grow to invade your personal story replacing you as the central character.
The child will have the ability to disappear/reappear with ease and summon things from nowhere without reason.
i don’t really get all the trahearne hate.. however, i didn’t bother finishing my personal story..
/facepalm
Someone suggested once that mail can be safe but include an explanation in the mail. Literally like you are expecting someone from ANet to read the mail you send to your friend. The more personal information and details you include the better.
All the interviews and the weird silence around Cantha questions is more promising than not. Lets hope that includes a new profession too <3
Can’t wait till the new commander system comes out. All this time means it’s going to be really good!
I <3 these necro’d threads. They always make me laugh.
Sticky it Micky
The devs, they listen, they care but they can’t help.

Hoping it’s not a case of “because we say so”.
Because they say so.
Gokitten
Fotm has it’s own category for dailies. Also, it is not included in hobby dungeon master.
It is also not listed in the dungoen section for LFG
By that reckoning FotM isn’t a dungeon. Did I post in the wrong section?oh snap
Normal dungeons? Are we talking lore here? I guess I’m just trying to distinguish WHY exactly. Hoping it’s not a case of “because we say so”.
I STILL haven’t gotten kicked.
You cheated.
Isnt it?
I’m confused, I thought FotM was dungeon related but dailies tell me otherwise.
people that were kicked seem to consistently portray themselves in an innocent light
Your right. People should make more posts about how they totally deserved to get kicked so that we can all sympathise. Wait! What?
Thread #51876 regarding the matter and #51875 without screenshots.
Tell me how should someone screenshot being kicked?
Lightning fast reflexes, only one has ever managed it ever. You must be one with your party grasshopper.
Funny. First, they say only zerker is viable. Now they say zerker is getting unfairly downscaled and thus isn’t really viable.
Zerkers getting a raw deal, who knew xD
At this time they seem to have no adequate system in place for housing. I feel we will all be disappointed.
<3 games that start 2v1…. best…. mode…..eva
But thiefs gettin ooc is not cheating, all they gotta do is shoot two infiltrator arrows and one shadowstep, its pretty comon knowledge.
Mhm, never said it wasn’t possible but you obviously didn’t bother to check my link. Checking links provided is pretty common knowledge too.
Been talking about this for sometime:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Thief-s-Speed-Hacking/first#post1410633
It’s unlikely to change anytime soon, ArmageddonAsh is right.
Only just today I was in WvW fighting a group of thief’s where the fight would go something like this:
Fight Fight Fight > Thief nearly dies > mysteriously teleports away > Stealth > Suddenly out of combat.
Good luck proving that’s cheating tho.
Your only real weapon is Fraps (or similar), hope the hacker makes an obvious mistake and reveals their hacking and uploading it to utube then submit it to exploits@arenanet.net
The best detect and report mechanisms are not in game -.-
I done many many dungeon runs but it’s funny how some stick in your head.
One CoF p1 run someone had quipped about me using my scepter on mesmer. I stated matter of factly ‘Swords are better but i wanted kills on my scepter and this wasn’t a speed run’ WELL, that was a mistake. I quickly realise that at least 3 people in the group are friends, most likely all on voip together.
Things deteriorate quickly and I’m getting passing remarks like ‘Oh were not fast huh?’. I try to laugh it off and say don’t take it so seriously.
Anyways I get kicked at the end of the run, interestingly AFTER I’ve killed boss which made me lol. Thinking about it I shoulda posted this in the player fail thread…..
Anyways, OP is right, kicking should have more limitations on it than currently exist. Why would you need to kick anyone one when a boss is at 5% health other than to troll is beyond me.
Every now and then a thread pops up that point a finger at ‘elitists’ in the game. You know those players that think they’re super good and like to tell people who don’t ‘nail’ dungeons 100% that they’re noobs.
Now, one thing that annoys me in game and something that doesn’t get much air time in these threads is more towards the other end of the pendulum, what I see as the other kind of elitist.
There was a thread, sometime back now, where someone had posted about their discontent at an ‘elitist’ group they had joined for a CoF P1 Speed Clear. That as an unsuspecting ranger they were rather upset that the group kicked them because it wasn’t what the group wanted. The general consensus was that the group were a bunch of elitists and they were bringing ‘shame’ to the game of GW2.
Now the thing that I couldn’t understand at the time was WTH did he join a group he knew nothing about? He knew it was a ‘CoF P1 speed clear’ and while perhaps he didn’t understand the specifics of a ‘Speed Clear’ at that time, I wasn’t entirely sure the group hadn’t been anything but informative to him in regards to explaining what they needed in a matter of fact way, which he then took offense to.
Dungeons in general I’ve seen many examples of people not stacking when you ask them to stack. Of individuals in groups that go off on their own tangent at the rest of the teams bereft. How many of us have joined an Arah’s P3 only to get to Lupi and try to explain ‘dodge grubs’. Where you will go at great lengths to explain in detail what to do, typing out everything only to have a team member remain absolutely silent, not dodge once and trigger EVERY SINGLE GRUB.
People might be thinking now ‘Well you’re elitist’. Well, I want to respect my team, and if that makes me elitist, so be it.
I have no experience at meleeing Lupi, if a team wants that, I don’t join. If it’s been awhile since I’ve done a dungeon and I don’t remember the path well, I follow the team lead. If they say stack I stack, they say move over here I move.
Previously, a few months ago now I was going for my Dungeon Master title. If ever I was in a situation and we stopped and someone said “Do people know what to do next?” If I didn’t know, I’d say so. I wouldn’t stand their quietly, knowing I didn’t know and happily cripple my team because I wanted to the game my own way.
The majority of experienced players are more than happy to create a space for new people to join for dungeons. To let non-level 80’s and new players join groups and participate. Only just today I participated in an explorable TA run, 2 members of which were sub-80. It was great, they were good guys and it didn’t bother me that the thief was dying a lot. I understood that he was new and learning his profession.
Sometimes tho, experienced players need a break too. So if they ask for lvl 80’s only or advertise a specific kind run or ask in party chat “Do people know what to do next?” cut them a break because it’s nice to escape the other kind of elitist for a bit.
I’m sure we can all understand that.
Surprised no one has mentioned the social aspects of WvW.
Admittedly most conversation is around particular topics and specific objectives and the informal grouping is zerging objectives. But if you enjoy it…
It’s there, for what it is and has it’s own community.
Here’s a +1 to bringing a Ritualist to GW2.
Rit was my main in GW1 and I’ve tried (and failed) to make a Ritualist substitute in GW2.
EDIT: lol Swagg I realised I +1 you over 7 months ago for your other posts on the ritualist. Glad your still here, still playing and still committed to the Ritualist.

1. What do you guys need so much karma for? I legitimately have nothing to do with it.
That’s pretty much me, every now and then i have to psychologically prepare myself for multiple clicks at a karma vendor to try get rid of a chunk of it.
About once a month I’ll see a post like this.
You WILL be red at some point, you need patience.
It’s coming soon.
Have you learned from the master strategist?
That’s a pretty hardcore conspiracy theory. The “burden of proof” concept is integral to formal logic.
What has become clear at this point you have never watched Sacrx’s NDA leak. You perhaps heard about it, someone told you in passing of it, maybe you watched 5 minutes of it and thought “Yea I know”.
People wanted less zerging, capture nodes were a way to break that down. However, once again, NOT BLOODLUST stacks. The community NEVER wanted it.
The whole premise of your argument is ALL contextual.
I challenge you to find a dev post or blog that uses the word “esports” in the last 5 months.
There was active communication that it will be an e-sport. You saying ‘yea but not recently’ isn’t really highlighting the lack of truth to it, it’s more symbolic of the fact that ‘the writing is on the wall’.
Sacrx is world first Ultimate Dominator (250k kills) and lead of THE best guild in GvG and former alpha tester to GW2. Don’t want to accept his word about the move agianst GvG for the sake of PvP? That’s fine, but sticking your fingers in you ears going ‘lalalalalalalala’ doesn’t mean your right either.
I challenge you to find a dev post or blog that uses the word “esports”
Oh there out there all right (See I can do it too).
There’s simply no correlation between the two.
The only way you would believe that is if you feel that decisions that have been made are down to gross incompetence time after time. It just doesn’t make sense.
The introduction of bloodlust stacks was NEVER WANTED by the WvW community. It makes a winning server with greater coverage do it all even better. There’s absolutely no logical reason to implement it UNLESS you want to make WvW unbalanced even more so, concurrently breaking GvG, forcing people who want (a degree of) balance into ANet’s PvP.
That’s just one example.
(edited by SoPP.7034)
forum’s obsession with esports.
The forums obsession? lol
Idc about e-sports but at least the ANet troll at a GvG match and Sacrx’ NDA leak made ANet look at themselves a little closer. I actually like were the game is going as a result.
PvP however doesn’t get as much love as a result.
Personally the strangest about this AP-measuring contest is that ppl only started caring about the amount you have after Anet implemented rewards.
I’m inclined to agree with this. AP was largely an abstract entity for most people until leaderboards/rewards were introduced.
Personally my AP was always high, but that was more the completionist in me. The rewards were a bonus that came later.
Getting back to the OP, I’m not sure how i feel, I’m in 2 minds. Occasionally people have offered congratulations on a high AP and it’s a good feeling that people have taken the time to notice and do so. On the other hand I’ve had situations were people start with the attitude and you don’t really understand what their beef with you is until they starting calling you out on your high AP meaning nothing, meanwhile their AP is half yours.
In any event, I’m happy to leave it as it is. You meet stupid people online fairly regularly, life goes on.
(edited by SoPP.7034)
This needs to stop.
No, you more.
Hmmm interesting.
Why do you call them branches? Who does that? They’re PATHS.
Ohai! Your a year late to the party, but better late than never.
You could put restrictions on it. Such as not inside dungeons, not while in combat etc.
But seriously it HAS to happen. Are people that say ‘no’ actually aware of the diversity in builds that can be accomplished? Do you seriously retrait every time you do something different content? At least one of those answers will be a NO.
Because at the very minimum the monotony of having to retrait every time you do different content would stop you doing it, making you run a sub standard build.
Either that or your one of those people that do the same content again and again and again. In which case you have no idea what it means to be the other player that should retrait -.-
Oh wow, I remember this post. ahhhh Memories
Path of least resistance I was right Colin!
Yeah! Wait! What?
People get frustrated when they miss Scarlet?! Geez…i get frustrated when i fail to miss her!
lol! I’m still hopeful she will die off camera in her sleep….
Back to the OP, ANet had a brain fart is the only way I can see it. They seemed to be getting better at understanding the time frames for completing LS content only to remove FotM AP so quickly.
This coming from someone who did ALL FotM achievements, but was still surprised they focused on their hard 2 week schedule. Especially given they won’t be back till late January.
It just seems silly.
Blackgate’s WvW community
LOL. Sorry but that doesn’t surprise me at all. I can’t imagine any significant people within the JQ or TC WvW community or even SoR’s for that matter allowing such particular behaviour. The community as a whole would tell such people to put a lid on it.
Do you have to stay on that server?
In any event, I see more and more posts from people that want more QoL updates added to GW2 and less flashy new things.
A decent block mechanism would be part of that.
I think the character is interesting, find her dialogue hilarious
I’d like her more if she was the comic relief. You know the part that offsets the evilness of the main evil character, but she IS the main evil character in these story arcs.
Mind Blown.
