The whole concept of precursors in their current state is fundamentally flawed.

This must change.

It’s quite sad to see the game brought down the such a casual level too.

I’m a WvW player in GW2, first and foremost. When I play a week of evenly matched up servers the fights that ensure are exciting every time.

I just steam roll through the PvE content.

sPvP has always been the neglected aspect of GW2.

You had some good points, except for this point. PvP has had HUGE support precisely BECAUSE it was supposed to be their e-sport. Even before the game was released devs would comment on and say just as much. Feel free to google it. It’s only more recently that WvW has enjoyed anywhere near the same attention.

You are right about the GvG scene, it has (had?) the most potential. Long story short the PvP team can’t/won’t support GvG, google ‘Sacrx the Machine’ and his NDA leak. I’d provide the link but I don’t want to get banned again.

Did you see the vid of the ANet employee trolling a GvG match? The symbolism was obvious.

PvP is boring, and like Caffynated said there doesn’t appear to be any real momentum behind it.

Compare that to WvW and the sub-scene that developed from that, GvG.

There was (is?) a space to develop that further, but it feels like they missed the boat.

Long over due.

I should stop reading these threads, I see issues like this and think to myself ’It’s STILL not addressed?’

One way to manage guild roster and check activity is to change everyone’s tag to say ‘inactive’ as you see them log on you can change their tag back to w/e. After a month or so kick those that haven’t logged on.

Anyways I agree with everything you’ve just asked for, for the most part

“Another feature that was always handy was having the guild message broadcast in chat once when a person logs in”.

Dunno why you need this tbh? I’d be asking to get the basics of guild management in their first.

“translucent players issue”

I empathize with your plight, particularly if you are a one guild person.

To assume tho a guild would be great if all people represented it 100% is not conducive, there’s more dynamics at play than that.

The current system allows flexibility and if you don’t ask people to rep 100% then why should they? As explained above specialised guilds offer more specific interest and focus compared to a general ‘one guild fits all’.

As far as it feeling ‘shallow’ is concerned, it’s probably more of a case of each to their own. I enjoy the general bantering that exists in my WvW guild and I have a Friend’s List for those I’m particularly close to.

Pixelpumpkin has pretty much described my situation.

Being restricted to 5 guilds is very limiting and decreases ones ability to interact and socialise in this game.

It restricts content that people may want to do, as some encounters cannot be overcome by yourself. Other encounters are enjoyed best with a coordinated group of people.

Being part of specialised groups opens doors. Numerous times I’ve received PM’s from people asking me to go along and participate in activities because I’m part of a specialised guild, they know I want to participate in these activities. It’s great.

I’m in a weird situation now where I’ll join a guild, leave it after I’ve done an activity so I can join another guild to link in with their activity to leave and join the other guild again.

I’m already involved in more than 5 guilds. I just have to work around this silly system to do it.

The unspoken pressures of Living World

in Living World

Posted by: SoPP.7034

SoPP.7034

This statement by Half-Tooth resonated with me:

There is a kind of unspoken preassure in the LS to do it as fast as possible before it goes.

The LS content and it’s associated AP, being temporary and buggy creates a discourse between enjoyment and frustration.

Previously having attempted to get the achievement for ‘Portal Closures’ and being stuck on 11/13 for days and days. I had to repeat it because some events didn’t register and there was no tracker to tell me which ones I’d missed.

I would log onto GW2 and would look at that outstanding achievement and think ‘Do I REALLY have to try this again?’ Now of course the answer is ‘No, you don’t’. However, if I don’t do it NOW, I will NEVER be able to do it, ever. I’m not exactly happy with that prospect either. This example could be applied to other LS content, I has similar issues with SAB and it not registering achievements and feeling I had to replay content.

So now I feel this pressure. I can let it go, walk away, turn my back on it. But honestly, who out there would be happy to leave it at 11/13? Perhaps those that don’t care. Perhaps those that are thinking of leaving the game, maybe it’s what made them leave.

Others say you have a choice. You participate or not, the decision is up to you and they’re right, ultimately it is my choice.

The temporary nature of LS coupled with buggy achievements, that don’t register when you have actually completed them or similar (game breaking?) issues. All creates a kind of frustration, a kind of pressure.

Perhaps if I could get away from it, the buggy monotony of it all, take a month off and come back and try it again, it wouldn’t be so bad. But no I have to do it now, or not at all.

It’s how I feel about LS, a grind that’s buggy that if your having issues with, walk away and never look back. That or thrust yourself right back into it again before it goes.

Problem of being different for the sake of it

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SoPP.7034

SoPP.7034

As a side point perhaps, but still relevant to this discussion I believe, there had been a significant amount of talk about the state of WvW at one point. Why introduce Bloodlust? Why no area for GvG? (ofc this has changed now)
Responses (or lack of) to these points seemed…. interesting.

Long story short, the decisions that were being made simply didn’t make sense. It felt at the time that a lot of it was common sense that would be obvious to the devs.

Then at one point an alpha tester leaked a bunch of information ( I won’t link due to having been banned previously for doing it.)

He highlighted that WvW is supposed to be imbalanced to force players that want balance into PvP. That any ideas for WvW goes through the PvP team first. That the PvP team dislike GvG because they want those players in PvP and concurrently GvG has no place in WvW.

This culminated in a dev trolling a GvG match. The leak stating that the GvG arena only came about to stem the anger from the GvG community over this.

My point is, we don’t know the ‘office politics’ at Anet and while overall most people with perspective will agree that while Mike O’Brien is in charge we won’t lose a healthy perspective of the game overall. However, the same kind of hubris that creeps into any office setting. Where people look out for their own interests is inevitable.

Us as consumers however usually don’t know the details.

Need to get to the top of the tower D=

SoPP.7034

As a player who has all the achievements I have no reason to return to the tower. I returned a few times for dailies but avoided the top where possible, for awhile I left my toon at the top, so it would be there when i logged in.

Players that haven’t gotten to the top or need to get there again will find mobs on the 3rd floor difficult (impossible?).

Guesting to other servers may help but there’s no guarantees, even on bigger PvE servers like JQ it’s pretty quiet nowadays.

Aside from getting lucky and finding a zerg/guild heading to the top, maybe try posting a lfg here or in game?

ANet need to offer incentives for people to return to the tower if they want to make group content like this.

Elite skills are useless in some scenarios.

For example in underwater combat my mesmer has access to timewarp and mass invisibility. Two skills which can be useful however are very SITUATIONAL, making them useless 90% of the time.

Additionally in WvW running my mesmer I have a particular skill set I want to run. I use veil a lot, I’m also asked to take null field and feedback, i like to have blink handy for myself to get out of trouble quickly and sometimes need to set up a portal.

For elite skills on the very RARE occasion I’ll timewarp a golem and IF I’m doing havoc group I MIGHT use mass invisibility.

Elite skill slots for me are useless most of the time and i have other skills I’d rather have handy. Either makes elite skills ‘elite’ or free the slot up so we can use more useful skills.

Should there be a season 2?

in WvW

Posted by: SoPP.7034

SoPP.7034

Yes BUT (let me explain)

The queues, the AP farmers, the PvErs in some ways it was rather horrible, the number of facepalm moments were astounding.

Having said that, the WvW scene is now reinvigorated. I have no doubt that some of those that came for seasons have come to realise how much they enjoy WvW. These people are the commanders of tomorrow.

It was good to do BUT there needs to be some space, time for everything to settle down. Older players can go back to their old thing and new players can become part of the old thing.

Then you can look at a season 2.

Think about it: when the height of what you can do with your villains is for them to be bland and forgettable, and any character you try to give them makes them outright hated, what does it say?

This resonates with me.

Lore has to be consistent so that it’s followers can appreciate it however it can do just about anything because if your the developer, you create it.

It’s a fantasy game you could literally come up with some impressing, other worldly creature that strikes you with a sense of awe and excitement to meet and fight. Rather than a Mary Sue with a British accent…

I find dragons as the momentum behind a fantasy story “lame”. It’s overdone

Fair point, however I’m working with what we’ve got as far as impressionable enemies are concerned and at this time elder dragons give you a greater sense of foreboding and a sense of excitement than anything Scarlett has to offer.

It’s subjective but you shouldn’t be saying Scarlett and dragons are the same, because they’re not. Dragons, while having been done to death offer a lot more and offer far greater scope than the Mary Sue does. Even from a concept piece of art perspective the construction of branded mobs from elder dragons that have changed the landscape is much more fascinating. Why aren’t we seeing them more flushed out?

Rather than talk about what you don’t want, lets talk about what you do want.

OP is wrong to think that most would be happy with such a step. Additionally it’s not proportional to what has happened with dungeons for example. Offer incentives that make people want to do different paths.

Atm all you have working for you is “Do whatever is rolled first, cause I say so”. There’s no incentive to do water over swamp and simply ‘locking’ people into something will just make them unhappy.

You might be surprised if I tell you that when I roll, if water pops I’ll ask the group if it’s ok, usually one says it’s not so I keep rolling and I can understand why they say that.

The whole idea of paid transfers started no less than 3 weeks after the introduction of gems to transfer were introduced, amusingly. Meaning the arms race won’t stop anytime soon, as transferring is now the industry standard.

Perhaps if one server completely dominates, the others will relax on the arms race. As it is now it’s something of a give and take.

I’m curious why not many talk of what happens in EU and servers like VS with regards to this. On the note of EU when did IRON leave exactly? I’m assuming it was after ZDs touched down? -.-

Well that’s a little disappointing.

I don’t know the complete context however if swearing or other profanities are involved, then ANet should respond to that, even if they don’t care about the harassment.

Ultimately tho as you’ve said the block feature is a huge failure and really opens it up for people to harass/stalk if they are that way inclined.

When you block someone, it’s for a good reason and it should be a 100% block, not the current half attempt we see.

While the ‘block’ feature in GW2 has a lot to be desired ANet are quite strong on enforcing appropriate behaviour in GW2.

If someone is following you and saying unwanted things make sure you record it all and inform support that it’s not wanted and that it hasn’t been encouraged.

This won’t stop the blocking issue, but in the long run will help you to enjoy the game away from the less balanced people in this world.

It’s prestige gear, it doesn’t change the game at all. But some people either worked their kitten off by running those dungeons again and again or maybe just super lucky (and no I wasn’t one of them). You got your dungeons back, why undermine the prestige items of others in the process.

Some of the people in this thread would be super upset if they got a nice drop once, that was 1000’s gold worth, only to have it trivialised later and made worth 2 gold.

I use this site to find events for daily when I’m in a hurry and need a particular area. http://www.gw2state.com/events.html#. Just set it for your server and the map you want.

Didn’t know about this. Thanks! Will check it out.

You do have to move around areas to find some Events.

Yup, you highlighted why I usually tend to skip it.

WXP SHOULD BE ACCOUNT BOUND (caps)

It’s so silly that it’s not.
I used to be an altoholic but this along with the further push into ascended gear that’s heavily gated makes me focus on 2 toons in particular. My other 6 lvl 80’s farm world bosses…

Out of combat weapon slots

Clearer title from this thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Ele-weapon-changing-tab-when-OCC/first#post3231088

But same points, and for the sake of clarity:

I would like to have more OUT OF COMBAT weapon slots for all professions.

One possibility is the 4 choices like in Guild Wars 1. While OOC you click on a choice both to select and deselect. Once IN COMBAT the choice(s) are locked. The Ele and the Engineer still have only one weapon and can’t switch again until OOC.

This would have multiple benefits for all professions.

  1. it would encourage using weapons depending on what is coming up rather than staying with the same set continuously.
  2. Having to stop and dig around in the inventory discourages people from trying out different weapons. Staying with the same weapons all the time instead of switching around makes combat stale.
  3. it would free up inventory slots for all the professions.
  4. it would keep the weapons better organized. Now if you swap them using the inventory, they go to different places each time which makes them hard to find and increases the chance they will be sold or salvaged.

3 month topic. Do you, by any chance, main a necromancer?

No, however I do have 8 lvl 80’s and I used to use my nec a lot in WvW for tagging but toon bound wxp fixed that, so I’m stuck on my mes.
