The OP reads more like hes raging, most likely ganked while doing map completion, so now we hear about all the ‘problems’.

The map allocation rotates so it’s easy enough to get the majority of the spots, he’s not clear about what hes missing, so I can only recommend patience.

Go to the WvW thread and you’ll see threads complaining that WvW players HAVE to go to PvE to get materials for ascended gear to make them more competitive etc. ANet want you to experience different parts of the game, don’t like it, don’t play or stop with map completion.

Just wondering what others do to get this daily done?

Other event daily areas I’ve found systems I enjoy and don’t mind to do it. With Ascalon event completer being the exception, as I find it annoying.

Anyone recommend a good event chain, or an area you don’t have to just stand around in hoping something pops.

I’m really unhappy with the direction GW2 is going with alts. You are better off to have one main.

WXP is toon bound not account bound, additionally ascended gear is expensive, heavily time invested requirement and it will be harder to properly equip you alts.

I’m posting this here because having alts in GW2 at this time is more about convenience than actually playing them. I have 8 level 80’s, use 2 to play content and the other 6 spread out to farm world bosses, mine nodes and placed in places of convenience.

It’s actually stopped me from playing my alts, that along with ascended gear.

If your not running with ascended gear and you don’t have your leech/guard stacks you make it harder for yourself and will not be taken as seriously.

Play how you want, but this is not an alt friendly system.

As if this Tequatl even poses a challenge. All it changed is that a bigger zerg is mandatory, and it has to split on 4 groups every now and then.

It’s really depressing to come to these forums and see people trying to destroy one of the few things I actually enjoy doing in this game.

I agree. What annoys me is that because people can’t beat tequatl on their terms they have to come here and complain of bad game design.

Tequatl requires a certain degree of coordination to overcome and you have people/guilds that do this very efficiently now, you need to think beyond your server.

One of my issues with this game is content is too easy, so I like this update.

In summary if you don’t like it DON’T DO IT and if you want to do it then be PRO-ACTIVE and get with people that are happy to coordinate and have yourself a win.

Personally I found I don’t care for alliances, at least not the ones from GW1.

In GW1 a less than savory person would wait till there was no officer in guild then proceed to troll the entire alliance, with nobody being in a position to do anything, as one example.

They need better tools to moderate an alliance, if it’s to happen.

Okay, well I didn’t see any announcement or news so I’m going to guess that it is not coming tomorrow.

Actually I believe it is. It’s been largely introduced due to the GvG scene getting messed around by WvW and sPvP developers upset that GvG ‘violated their game mode’. Which culminated in an ANet employee trolling a GvG match.

The reason it’s not mentioned is because they didn’t really want to implement it and once its there, GvG will have to moderate itself.

The current process to obtaining precursors is STUPID.
RNG or TP are your only means, so blind luck or grind/TP Flip.

Ignore the legendary, there is nothing legendary about it, you will be better for it.

I made a turret engineer a few months after launch, since that time I’ve been constantly disappointed with turrets.

I’d love to see an overhaul of turrets. However from what I’ve observed the investment vs. outcome is not proportional for ANet. Consider, how many people use Engineers? How many of them want to use turrets?

I’m sure they will address turrets at some point. However I’ve been waiting for over a year and until they’re prepared to invest time into them they will continue to be marginalised.

Balthazar temples ALL CLOSED on NA servers. Saw it open on one EU server, which doesn’t help.

I think what you have gathered from these posts is there is no ‘one thing’ its an accumulation of things that bring it together and makes you think, ‘this is my toon’ (perhaps to only change your mind again).

My guard was my main for the longest time BUT I played my alts a lot. Recently however I feel Ive been forced to give up on my alts concurrently getting bored of my guard.

Now I’ve switched to my mesmer, after having done the Queens Gauntlet no less. I learnt a lot about mesmers and their flexibility and use of utilities since that time.

On a side note I feel stuck on my mesmer now what with the ascended gear being so heavily gated and WvW wxp now being toon bound.

If you want to be taken seriously in WvW you will be running with guard/leech stacks.

I think conquest is a terrible gametype, and I think if they had consulted/tested more widely before launching with it, PVP might not be in the sorry state it’s in.

They were told prior to release.

One of the alpha testers actually got removed from subsequent testing (won’t link due to reprisals) for arguing how conquest made the focus on capping not fighting and how things was a bad game type to focus on.

Elements within the PvP team were told but seemingly stuck their fingers in their ears and went ‘lalalalalalalala’.

look at wvw, it is unfair in all possible way and yet there are masses playing it…. why? archives, shines, loot, can lv up a character etc.

Not really, shines, loot etc as you call it has been EXTREMELY POOR in WvW. Seriously make that post in the WvW section and watch yourself get shot down. WvW has always played out 3rd to PvE and PvP.

One of the alpha testers leaked a bunch of information a month or so ago (I won’t link again due to reprisals) which highlighted that ANet has been deliberately making WvW imbalanced to try and force WvW players into PvP so that ANet gets their e-sport.

What WvW has, over PvP is that the mechanics are FUN and flexible. Zerg, solo roam, havoc etc. Not to mention emergent gameplay like GvG.

In PvP you are stuck in this boring as kitten conquest mode doing the same thing again and again and again. Speaking to WvW players that what they dont like about PvP, it’s boring.

Such a market would just get abused by TP Flippers, who would end up making more money from it than the average PvP player. WvW players don’t make money either, any money they make goes back into siege, upgrades etc.

On a side note, that’s why we have all this time gated, account bound stuff coming out. It’s the only way to moderate what the TP Flippers do and keep an even playing field.

In any event Logi is right. You can’t trivialise what a PvP player has achieved by simply selling it off.

A guild mate recently got 4 precursors in one day. He said he was actively trying to spend the money he got from one, only to get another precursor.

He bought insanely expensive quality of life items off TP and in the end had enough left over to have a ‘holiday’ on an EU server to check out WvW there.

I’m not angry at all, tbh I laughed when he told me.

Given that sigils, runes, traits etc. don’t work properly. Such poor programming when it comes to RNG is hardly surprising.

If your on the good side of it, you laugh all the way to the bank.

I agree that sPvP is that main bulk of things. As it stands, if you want GvG, you can get a Custom Arena, have your guildies join Red, and another guild join Blue, and duke it out that way. Put up the password so only your two teams/guilds can be in. Bam! Structured GvG.

Want one that’s more like WvW? That would require a large amount of coordination not only on the part of the guilds, but the developers. As it stands, I don’t think GW2 can support a strict GvG area for non-structured PvP. How would you determine what guild you war against? How would you handle guild repping? How would you limit guild members that can enter?

You can’t GvG on the PvP servers, they don’t support the numbers involved, usually 15+ each side.

Ranger gets a bad rep, in part because of it’s limitations in team composition.

Having said that it makes a good roaming class and ultimately it comes down to you. I’ve seen some amazing rangers in PvP and WvW.

As a sterotype a ranger than runs only a signet build using only s/b, l/b and no idea of other weapon sets would my definition of a bad ranger.

Ultimately it comes down to what you enjoy using and I don’t think anyone would kick you from a group just because your a ranger.

A good ranger is better than a bad warrior.

Guildwars was just a lore thing, had nothing to do with GvG.

They’re building an arena in the Obsidium Sanctum for GvG.

GvG won’t be directly supported because it’s against what the PvP team are trying to with e-sports, and it violates the WvW team’s game mode.

ANet would be happier if GvG just died and you all went to PvP.

I’d just add that you should consider queue times (particularly over weekends), which can be long and therefore frustrating on BG, JQ, SoR.

I like the idea of a ‘scar’, that is remnants of it having been there, once the event is over over.

Kessex Hills is a nice area to walk around, the way it looks now is foreboding which is great for the story, but in the long run just comes across as being morbid.

That’s why I’m glad that they moved the meta farms away from Orr and into starter areas and FGS. Those areas are much nicer to hang around.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s important to have places like Orr. But accessing an area like that should be more situational.

It doesn’t bother me. The events happen in areas already associated with a degree of PvE (Mercenaries, Centaurs etc).

Some mobs pop up randomly as well I’ve seen, but it’s a handful of them and it’s not an event, so it’s not much of a concern.

My only observation is that the more competitive people will be the ones that typically post of the added PvE concerns!?!?

They’ve already pushed AP hunters and PvErs in general back into WvW with seasons. That did more to change the eb and flow of WvW in general. Seeing the current LS in WvW is minimal and if anything adds a bit of variety.

So all that combined with having just watched the vid has made me excited about what’s to come with possible challenging game play and a story that seemingly may be interesting to follow.

Just wanted to highlight, for myself at least, so far so good. At this time, I’m actually enjoying the story and can follow it easy enough. I’m still hopeful for the challenges to come!?!?

We have some thing that will be in the tests for the new map that will help WvW be more alt-friendly. We will talk more about it as we get closer to the test actually beginning.

It’s not rocket surgery. There is pretty much only one acceptable solution, and that is account wide rank. Pretty much everything else falls short.

I made a turrent engineer shortly after launch last year, since then I have been constantly frustrated by how lackluster turrents are.

What I’ve observed is that turrents seem to be too hard for devs to develop properly. That is, the investment required out ways anything they would gain (How many people are engineers? How many want to use turrents?). So they place resources else where.

I’m sure a time will come when they will apply themselves to turrents, till then they will simply marginalise it as they have other priorities.

I admire what Anymras has done, and maybe he’s gotten the dev team to talk more about turrents…. We can always hope.

I consider every update with a degree of skepticism.

Molten alliance I was partially interested in but since then the story has gotten more and more away from foreboding dragons and more into trivial content that we’re told will become more serious.

Play style were starting to get some more interesting content again however. Queens gauntlet challenged me previously (but I didn’t get the story at all), since then we’ve slowly been moving away from the ‘press F’ wars, which is great.

So all that combined with having just watched the vid has made me excited about what’s to come with possible challenging game play and a story that seemingly may be interesting to follow.

Wish there were more armours that allowed for more glow to be shown. I know some people start the whole ’don’t want skimpy armour’ thing, but personally I find the glowing effects awesome and would like them to be more visible on Sylvari.

Something for you guys to consider… do you really want turrets to be able to follow you? For those who use a flamethrower or tool kit, such a trait would make the turrets completely useless. Think about it… the only “melee” turrets are the flame turret and the thumper turret. If a rocket turret or rifle turret can move, that means it can put itself in harm’s way when you enter combat. When I place one of those turrets, I place it with purpose: at the edge of its range, usually at an elevated position that’s hard for mobs to reach. Whenever I use turrets, I visualize their range and the mobs’ positioning. I want those turrets to stay where they are.

I think turrets should be immobile, but they should be strong. A nest of three engineer turrets shouldn’t be something that a berserker illusion can spin through and completely destroy without even dying itself. If you see a flamethrower, rocket and thumper in a single spot, it should make you think twice about getting close. Moving between them should really hurt. They need higher health, toughness, and damage.

In addition, make the Mortar elite skill both a usable siege weapon AND a turret. When it’s being used the player should have direct control, but if nobody is manning the mortar then it should launch its 1 skill automatically, perhaps with an overcharge (~45s CD) that will make it remotely fire its barrage skill.

Thank you for some great ideas. I made an engineer shortly after launch due to my interest in turrents. Since then I’ve been largely let down with turrents and subsequently have given up on my engineer.

What I’ve come to realise is that the work relative to the reward is why turrents fail. That is it takes too much investment from Anet to make turrents effective for only a niche element of the community that uses them and how many people use engineer’s to begin with?

Perhaps if ANet took to your ideas it would make turrents more viable and therefore people would use them more? We can always hope.

Turret Upgrade (movement) <-Idea

Even getting a skill like what Ritualists had in GW1 where you could summon all spirits to your location would be awesome (portable Asura portal installed on all turrets). In fact the more similarities we could draw with Ritualist spirits the better! For being a very similar mechanic, they sure were a lot more dynamic than turrets are. Spirits had a wider array of effects than just damage, and quite a few skills to alter and enhance them. I miss my Ritualist lol.

This had been my idea since launch for my turrent engineer. Hitting lvl 80 (at least 8 months ago now?), my engineer enjoys some world boss events… that’s about it. I expected an engineer to be one of the more versatile professions out there which I guess it is but look at the player base, how many people use an engineer, how happy are you to have one in you team when you PvE, PvP, WvW but I digress….

So back on topic, I can only assume that they will one day release a ritualist class and do not want spirits and turrents to clash, but there’s a lot of assumptions in that.

As mentioned a quicker recharge on pick ups would be a small step in the right direction. But my first post about turrent failures was nearly a year ago (I’m actually curious now, I’m going to try find it), I gave up on my engineer as a result.
