The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”
The OP’s post resonated with me and has sat with me for the last few days. I am coming up on 3000 hours and have felt many of the things the OP has.
It made me think a lot about legendaries and what has really occurred to me is that I’m in a situation where I have the resources to get a legendary, I am just missing a precursor to kick start it.
The only realistic way to get a precursor at this time is either the mystic toilet or to pay the ‘flippers’ on the TP.
SO I splashed out and used all my savings to buy as many rares as I could off the TP today and threw them in the toilet, I decided now is the time to try. I got a few exotics out of it, no precursor, and nothing that will give me any substantial money back.
So that’s it nearly a years worth of saving gone and the feeling that the legendary is only for the legendary lucky.
If i wanted ANY kind of precursor I guess I can always pay the flippers on the TP and buy a trident…..
I’m really just left with a sense of it all just feeling kinda pathetic.
Sounds like this DB player got handled by CD. LOL!
Gating and money sinks, anything that makes you invest more time in the game. That’s the only reason to have things soul bound.
At least in gw1 a “soulbound” item had a 10% increase in damage and you had the choice if you wanted it soulbound or not.
I enjoy WvW but it’s almost in spite of itself at times.
Thieves… even their posts are annoying.
I hope thieves get nerfed again before ele’s do. I just love to read their posts on forums, they have so much nerd rage. Buff mist form! Nerf stealth!
i feel that accounts are flagged on creation with DR/MF a friend of mine who didn’t play for months recently started playing and in the last 2 weeks has gotten 4 pre cursors from forge, 3 of them within 90 minutes of each other, then had the spark drop about 10 days later, while others who have been on everyday since pre release haven’t got squat,
The scarey thing is I actually wouldn’t be surprised if it was true. Like literally, if someone exposed code that highlighted this was happening, I’d probably just chuckle.
The guy above me has no idea.
In any event the OP’s idea is required, as are many things atm. Recently I’ve been struck with how unfriendly many of the current tools/systems in place are in GW2.
Being supported and being allowed are in no way the same thing. It’s not supported, therefore any suggestion to make it easier is a waste of time.
Ok I call BS. If it wasn’t supposed to happen, they wouldn’t let it happen. There’s been many threads that have talked about how unfriendly things like swapping traits around are, this is just another example imo.
They support it, they just don’t have a very good system to support it. Calling it ANet’s “style of play” is silly, especially nowdays.
Previously ANet held onto their super zoom of your toon “style of play”, killing your FoV, which has since been changed. Meaning that IF what you say is true, posting on the forums and getting enough people behind the idea, may actually work.
They can’t remain there permanently.
If they did, it would create the space for more people to accumulate the funds to purchase them via means other than buying gems with real money.
Concurrently it would increase the likelihood that there would be a sale of some kind with these items at some point. Once that happened people would simply wait for future sales to equip their other toons (if they have them) in the future.
Far more profitable to place pressure on people to buy them immediately (hopefully with real money) and at full price. Then to give people the time to accrue funds else where and in their own time, while waiting for a possible bargain.
In any event don’t worry, the infinite items will return and possibly rehashed in some way. Buy all 3 at once! (Yes, I’m assuming the infinite logger is coming).
something, anything that allows more than 5 guildies in WvW to coordinate with each other besides VOIP or pinning up for the whole map to see is strongly needed in WvW
I’ve seen a few Nord posts on this and I am in 100% agreement.
What I find amusing is that if ANet is serious about breaking down the zerg this should have been a given. It takes a lot of unnecessary work to coordinate a skirmish/havoc group.
Also +1 to anything that can make WvW a more user friendly experience.
OMGzzzzz OP this is game breaking fix it NAOW…
However, stuff like this isn’t game breaking at all and is perfectly acceptable:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/First-WvW-Highlight-of-the-week/first#post2299001
-.-
Lets hope they pull their finger out. People talk about how War Hammer Online had a better system, and war hammer online suxx -.-
Please allow the tools for players to coordinate in the way that works best for them. Some type of private grouping system is desperately needed.
Absolutely and desperately are key words here.
And in part this is the reason why huge zerg blobs have become the meta. In short, it’s easier and more effective.
How many of us have tried to organise small havoc groups?
If you pin up your accused of breaking up the zerg and not doing what the “map” wants.
Don’t pin up and you will be asked repeatedly “where are you again?” You are then stopping at easily located places for members to catch up and regularly as members get lost or new members join.
sigh
There is a significant niche element here that has been neglected for too long.
LOL, well at least your consistent, taken from 2 months ago:
“why would I do AC when I can do COF thats easy and good money. Im not wasting my time on something thats long and annoying and most of all dosen’t reward good money. I can get everything I want in COF tokens ectos from disechanting”
All dungeons should be a CoF p1 cakewalk -.-
Lets hope ANet is watching:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/It-s-easier-to-swap-toons/first#post2247512
they’re completely different outside the fact that they wear heavy armor and use a hammer.
You still don’t know what i used it for do you xD
Dodge+Jump it’s the only way to go!
“unless you have a photographic memory”
otherwise known as the screenshot key :P
Good idea!
That said, your example is patently ludicrous and detracts from the valid point of the whole thing.
Patently! And it’s not subjective at all xD You ppl on the internets tease
Fun, challenge, and depth.
Pretty sure this guy wins. Could make a thread almost identical, but being “What would you bring from gw2 to gw1” and i guarantee the answers would be:
jumping
dodging
wvwvw
jumping puzzlesand that’d be about it.
You forgot swimming
kitten , these posts are full of win. GW2, the game of cosmetics?
Weapon swap system (4 weapons saved for quick switch to), this can be done for all professions in GW2, engineers and elementalists too. Seriously, if its out of combat…..
Saved trait lines!!!!!! No more, which trait was it again…? So I can swap to my hammer guard quickly and easily without having to fiddle around for 10 minutes.
sPvP sure have restrictions but PvE? WvW? Please.
I found myself realising that it’s easier to swap to a particular toon when I feel like a particular play style rather than having to re-trait, gear up etc. one toon.
With 8 lvl 80’s I have them all nicely geared up now in a particular way and they all have aspects that Ive specced into. Some have different armour/weapons etc. when needed.
However, one example is that I was on my guard and when a particular circumstance arrived it was simply easier to swap to my hammer warrior than it was to swap everything around on my guard to get him ready for hammer time.
Now before some of you emotional creatures on the internets reply. I do make this post with a degree of jest. I understand a hammer guard is different to a hammer warrior but for the nature of what it was asked for, it was the same.
This post is really, for me at least, just finding it amusing just how ‘clunky’ a feeling of having to respec a toon is in GW2, more than it needs to be. That unless you have a photo graphic memory its usually a case of “what trait was it again…?”. Coming from GW1 I would have numerous builds saved for one toon, with easy weapon swap system with relatively quick swap on armours.

Unfortunately Vol, the thread is from January
Sigh

Feel better?
You never did answer my question. Thank you to the moderator for pointing me in the right direction.
Risk is minimal from what I’ve seen:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Requesting-clarification-on-multibox-policy/first#post976343
I did it in GW1 I want to do it in GW2. Your answer to my questions is no.
I’ve searched the web and yet to find a decent Multi-launch program. Is anyone using one and can recommend it?
The new content of late is interesting but strikes me as more of a gimmick. I participate because of the new skins. I’m an altoholic so its nice to have something to give to my different toons BUT there is little to no depth to it at all
Matt Winter has been considering your suggestions for 8 months -.-
plus weapons that can only drop from bosses and have a rare chance of dropping that could be really cool
I was thinking of this again recently. The idea that a kewl skin could drop from a particular boss would make bosses more appealing to fight again.
I’m sure people have other examples.
I used to do lots of Shards of Orr in GW1 to get the famed Bone Dragon Staff. There was a real moment of apprehension and excitement just before you looted chest. That maybe THIS run would be it!
It creates a kind of grind but so what? Its not Pay to win, it’s not a gear treadmill. You don’t have to do it, you’re repeating it because there’s a chance of what might be the skin you want.
You have Personal Story as a Daily Option and more people will have that done than map completion. It is still just one option of atm 11. 3-5 hearts seem ok. Maybe add “Watch X vistas?”
Very good point.
I also just considered you could merge dailies “complete 4 events or 4 hearts”. It would sync nicely and you may even kill 2 birds with one stone.
I won’t be one of them
EDIT: Is 800 gems for a new slot (even cheaper on sale) or other alternatives such a hindrance. If you have oodles of time to chase all these achievement points I don’t see it as a deal l breaker.
(edited by SoPP.7034)
I’d like to see these ideas in more of a sandbox setting. While its hope against hope I think these ideas would flourish even better in such a setting.
We have dailies for almost everything else, why not add heart(s) completion to daily achievements?
I don’t foresee an negatives and it falls in along with the rest of the general PvE gather, events etc.
Personally I would like it as a motivator. Heart completion is one of the most boring aspects of the GW2 World and having an incentive to do them beyond map completion and an inconsequential reward would make them more appealing.
I doubt everyone has completed all hearts across all their toons….. and if they have, they can simply choose one of the other dailies to complete.
After what they did with the karka event rewards months ago, I like to think that they will just extend the availability of crab toss or something, but I guess we’ll see.
At this stage I think they would be encouraging some rage from people if they don’t. What’s surprised me is that people have been commenting on this bug from the beginning but there’s been no feedback.
Asked dev again, they said this is a progression bug but not a display bug. Meaning everything you do will be ignored by the game. They also mention this happens randomly, maybe you try again and you will get it.
What dev where?
I’d just like some clarity. At this stage the only thing worse than not getting these achievements would be thinking I can get them and trying for them, but not getting them.
Same, won’t progress.
I’m just seeing a lot of blank bars not getting filled on my achievement tab…..
Gating and grinding. FotM was an experiment to try and save the exodus from the game of people who hit lvl 80 and then asked what is the end game?
FotM and CoF p1 are my most replayed dungeons, I’m sure people can make some assumptions why., but that’s heading into a different thread.
In any event the OP is right. It flew in the face of everything ANet had stated. FotM to me is ANet thinking their initial idea of progression was wrong.
&*%&$%^#^&$
That did help, and gave a good place to start.
Digital back massage incoming
You have a good guesstimator?
AC 4/4
CM 3/4
TA 3/4
SE 3/4
Cof 4/4
HotW 3/4
CoE 4/4
Arah 2/5 (one was p3)
Is there a way to make that clearer?
I dunno, I’ve played dungeons on and off over the last 6 months and recently decided to complete them all except I have no idea which ones I’ve done.
Play all the pathways again and do all the story modes again until I’ve covered the ones I’ve missed seems a bit much.
Is there really no way to tell beyond 3 of 4 pathways done?
On a side note it feels silly that I have to make a spreadsheet to keep track of what I’ve done in a dungeon and I have to use an external website to find groups to participate in a dungeon.
Only a WvW player logs onto a Borderland to quickly get the ambient kills for the day only to be told invaders are inc to spawn camp and subsequently end up staying on that borderland for a few hours.
Sounds like you’re talking about NYS. They are a formidable in tpvp and i certainly don’t wish to face them, however their WvW performance is less impressive. Im not trying to dis-NYS in any way shape or form except to say the transition from tpvp to WvW is not what the OP has envisioned.
Wow. I have for sometime looked at PvE content and weather it’s world bosses or dungeon bosses the experience has been largely… boring.
As a comparative, looking at GW1 I would be involved in a number of different ‘Speed Clears’ FoW, UW, DoA etc. All of which offered a sense of team cohension and really gave a sense of accomplishment when done.
Your video nails it perfectly and highlights why it is that dungeons in GW2 felt like a slow walk to me.
There’s been a thread about this previously, that and the fact you cant see Commander pins either, unless u zoom back. It’s silly and really don’t know why it’s come about, hopefully fixed soon.
Turret engineer failed me as a ritualist spirit spammer substitute. I want my ritualist!
If we end up second again, that just settles the fact the JQ is still winning the coverage wars. I don’t think with the new additions we’ll be coming in third any more, provided they stay.
You are stacked but don’t have coverage? You need to get better organised.
Exciting match so far, kind of feels like this picture: https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRNT-vMQx7N8nSV0YAKWfT9ZUoc8teGKwGpnrITiJkVg3OTLS0M
Could JQ be the guy tied up to the pole?
Could BG be the firing squad?
We all know who the old lady is………
Lets play this out and see!!
BG represent the firing squad? You know which army it represents The symbolism is obvious!
Lol, TW player chest thumping…
If you think he’s from JQ, let’s just say I know something not everyone knows about.. That’s all I’m going to say and only post on this topic…
Interestingly this doesn’t surprise me at all.
Only a WvW player will avoid brightly coloured animated weapons and armour, preferring dull inconspicuous colours.
Only a WvW player will ping how much siege they have in map chat.
GW1:
Assassin: Speed Clears
Monk: PvP
Ritualist: PvE, Title Hunter
GW2:
Guardian: Main, PvE
WvW:
Thief: When I want a relaxed easy session
D/D Bunker ele: More intense play
Necromancer: Team orientated, lots DPS
JQ, or at least FOO, is focussing more on SOR this week.
The variables are indeed flexible.
