When HoT launched they started dropping in price and got as low as ~1g15s. I assumed it would continue so I only lazily picked up a few with the thought that after the dungeon nerfs we’d see widespread deflation and that gold would have more buying power. I really hope the current upward price trend(up to ~1g80s) isn’t going to continue. Maybe the next hammer legendary will bring it back down.
2/10 try harder next time.
They need to remove the cast time and just give #4 the animation from warrior’s arcing arrow.
I had my first precursor random drop a month ago, The Colossus. As of a few days ago I have everything I need for Juggernaut except the silver doubloons. I was not hoarding anything beforehand except 350-ish laurels which did help a ton. My other 2 precursors I turned into legendaries were forged and bought.
During the gem store sales price spike I could have spent $30 on gems and just payed anet for the gold(bleh) but wheres the fun in that?
Hopefully Anet adds a way for us to make silver doubloons because there is going to be much higher demand with 2 new hammer wielding classes coming with HoT. I’m just building back up my gold (from practically zero) until the new map rewards and hopefully adjusted drop rates/crafting recipes come along and mix things up.

saves fifty dollars
its nothing like a “punch in the face”
how can people get this hurt over something they never had or had any information over
Its precisely because we have such a small amount of info that we can feel so justifiably hurt. Its classic hype-generation, they want us to feel strongly about their product(one way or the other doesn’t matter).
The only nice thing about this for me is that I already had the fractal and tempest horn skins and already ascended versions for my warrior/necro. It will have to provide something really novel for me to bother with the expansion at all though. If not, all bets are on warrior.
typical anet:
1. make a horrible decision
2. let it fester and release no info
3. randomly implement major fix
4. collect praise
i’ll wait till they cave on HoT pricing/features before i reinstall
The whole prestige of fractal skins is that they can’t be bought, this can’t catch on because it undermines itself.
Since posting this I’ve bought maybe 10 50s and gotten something good(skin/armor) 50% of the time. Its definitely worth it for level 50 but all my sub-50 runs give me garbage so I don’t even really play anymore.
Anet needs to do something about this, I hope masteries help.
There is a bug with the attack hiding your weapon, which was unintended and will be fixed.
-Karl
Hi Karl, while you are at it could you also apply this fix to the elementalist lightning whip skill?
That was fixed quite a while ago, you can still stow the weapon if you feel like it but it doesn’t give you the extra healing anymore and it definitely doesn’t add damage.
Should fix mesmers being able to do it to proc air fire more often.
I was referring to the visual bug of the weapon disappearing.

It has to be by design because I know for sure if i get the dagger skin i’m never doing fractals again. Ive got duplicate sword/hammer/longbow and a few others i’ll never use.
edit: right after posting this i got a new skin(focus). RNG reads the forums.
(edited by Solo.9027)
I’m more interested in seeing the trait synergy to support a sword mainhand than the skills themselves. That goes for all other classes too.
I pretty much stopped playing my two sylvari characters since scarlet, i’d pay a few hundred gems to change their race if it was offered as a one time offer.
I just got a 2nd fractal hammer skin, I’m officially done with fractals unless they change something with the drop mechanics.
Of my 7 armor boxes 1 was a raiders helm, none were chest and the only duplicate was shoulders.
If you mean forging your Exotic Fractal backpiece into an Ascended Fractal backpiece, you can indeed pick new stats. The forge returns a brand new item that is now ascended.
Wrong. I recently made a soldier’s fractal capacitor and it stayed soldiers all the way upgrading.
The only ones that let you choose are the ones that used to have magic find stats originally made from T6(book/quiver).
I think its some kind of food item, the reference to a bay makes me think of lotus plants by the waters edge, the second is probably Elonian wine(“Lemark was in high spirits”). The next items are probably southsun plants as others mentioned however I think the reference to combat is a red herring since southsun is a very violent place to try to just casually gather resources since southsun mobs are almost as annoying as Orr was at launch.
This thread has better writing than LS S1+2 btw.
I have been playing the game since launch and have crafted everything I like and built legendaries and just like playing the game for the combat and occassional lottery ticket drop but lately with the new trading post interface i just dread to fight with the interface to dump my loot for sale to clear my bags. Can there be an option somewhere to just automatically sell any loot below exotic tier? I would be willing to even pay a higher trading post fee to never have to think about it.
The past few months all I do in this game is 1-2 fractal runs a day if I log in at all, and of those I usually try to jump into runs midway off of lfg to save effort. This past week I’ve gotten a raiders box(29), a sigil recipe(28), and a fractal axe(40) in consecutive days. A couple weeks ago I got a fractal longbow(28) and so far I’ve gotten 5 ascended armor boxes(3 healers, 2 raiders), all from 20s or 30s. I’m like level 42 or so and I wanted to get to 50 but the rng doesn’t really motivate me much to make the effort since lower levels give equal or better loot.
I don’t buy or sell anymore but it seems to me the only way to do this 100% safely would be to charge members a fee/deposit upon joining(cost whatever the most expensive path sells for) as insurance against griefing. That way if a griefer joins their fee will go to whoever they grief and they are kicked/blacklisted. Members in good standing can leave at any time and get back their deposit fully (or minus some % to cover influence to startup guild stuffs.) You could work off your % fee with some number of times offering to be a filler.
Alright so the new meta class is Mesmer
That way you get the two most valuable items (greatswords and cloths)
anyone know a mesmer farming guide? ;3
Mesmer also uses torch…
-I don’t know how our mobility was cut by 50%, the max speed buff is +33% and eles aren’t moving -17% slower than other classes currently, so I call BS.
The fury/swiftness from zephyr’s boon was halved a while back.
As to the changes, i’m glad ascended gear is account bound is all I can say. I will probably finally make a mesmer with this years birthday gift.
Precursor prices for the cheap precursors are broken because they should be more in line with the other precursors such as dusk. This needs to be fixed! It’s just not fair that some precursors are cheaper than others.
Ugly girls(or guys whatever floats your boat) get less attention from the opposite sex(or w/e, same deal as before) because attraction isn’t something that follows the rules of fairness. Is it broken that unattractive people get less attention? It sucks for them but its great for the people they happen to be just the right type for.
Because of inflation the mats might be a better way of storing value but there is risk because Anet creates new recipes that may or may not affect the value of said items without warning. You can make an educated guess and try to stockpile but if there was a clear best choice the market would have corrected for it already or will have as soon as the information were to go public.
I just sell everything since getting master crafter, only keeping around a half a stack of the uncommon things in case of new fun crafting items for personal use. Its nice having gold with nothing to spend it on sometimes when new things get released.
Realistically 7000 dragonite ore is only about 2-3 months worth of daily temple runs if you do like 3 a day. I used to run much more/day than that before megaservers but it was all specific goal oriented, aimlessly saving/refining is just not smart. What if Anet adds a new recipe for the unrefined ore?
First , why would burning precision and blinding ashes work against each other ?
Single Target blind on kitten iCD is already really bad for a GM Trait, making it random makes it even worse. Persisting Flames is way better as you should be blasting your fire fields. Perma Fury is godlike.
Basically this, blinding is a condition that requires finesse in its use to maximize effectiveness and randomly blinding one enemy when there is a prohibitive internal cooldown is a bad idea. This is pretty much the consensus everyone came to when the trait was released but Anet didn’t care to adjust it. The only time blinding ashes has any real use is 1v1 player vs player because no pve fight lasts long enough to warrant multiple procs or if it does the enemy is immune to the condition.
My 1st precursor was forged relatively quick(50 tries or so). Most of the tries were from crafted rares during the sub 1s T5 era.
My second(and final because kitten map completion) was bought right before the latest price spike for 163g on a whim, after a few weeks it spiked over 500g and settled around 350g.
If I were new and saw the TP history on websites I’d be severely demoralized to even bother to try. Luckily though we have ascended weapons and Anet is pretty good at releasing decent skins lately that reduce the urgency felt to stand out with a legendary.
The most recent Living Story video seems to indicate that ghosts will be released/removed from the game(see attached screenshot and watch wooden potatoes latest video) and jewelry has yet to be raised to 500 so there may be a large demand and reduced supply coming soon. Now might be the last chance to get low tier dust cheap.
Do whatever works for you but in my opinion burning precision and blinding ashes will work against each other and there is no justification for spending 1 point alone in any traitline the way you did in water. Finally, if I were making a glyph build i’d for sure have the heal and stunbreak and trait more heavily into arcane/air for fresh air and boon stacking. As someone else mentioned, the focus is more defense than the stats from gear can provide but the playstyle isnt for everyone. Check out Zelyhn’s d/f guide, iirc its stickied somewhere around here.
Judging by your signature you like passive playstyles, you could just run fire staff and be much more effective and it wouldnt really matter what utilities you took so you could still have pets(I personally can’t stand relying on A.I.). 6/2/2/2/2 camping in fire and taking all the % damage traits/blasting staff would do much more damage than what you posted. Also, try to incorporate as much berserker gear as you can handle. Check youtube for dekeyz2chaos video guides as well.
Just get over the fact that people see you as a conjure dispenser and that everything instadowns you and it actually isnt too bad.
If the devs have decided against using the login screen to encourage Living Story completion can we revert to the original account medals screen by default once again?
I think it was nicer to look at than the bland colored bars plus it gives the game some flavor, especially for new players.
Yet another reason not to make the ascended armor investment. I feel for people who will end up overwriting runes back to scholar or buying extractors. I’ll probably just keep my exotic set for in case I forget to repair my scholar set and it goes broken.
I only make rainbow legendaries… and now I’m all out.
Sadly, my warrior and my engi can never partake. We need a rainbow rifle legendary.
Dual weild Moot is basically a double rainbow.
And yes, My other legendary is Bifrost
No reason to play for another month. Thanks for the honesty Anet. See you guys in July.
Haters gonna hate
Youre right, I still have to log in for the wvw reward friday. Honestly though I havent played for more than a few minutes at a time for a long time
No reason to play for another month. Thanks for the honesty Anet. See you guys in July.
I’ll take non-combat shields only if they remove wings and spider legs.
I honestly think the market is saturating to a point that most people have a gemstore skin for all of their favorite weapons by now and it will take something drastic like dyeable weapon effects or some other customizations to get people to drop serious coin on a new skin.
I’ve been using my fused GS skin since forever and even if something nicer comes out I still have the rarity going for me as a reason not to switch. I’m also sitting on a couple completed tickets because nothing they’ve been releasing is really too amazing.
So which is it? Does tonic stacking still work or not? I already have very little desire to do the LS meta already except for the sexbot 360 tonics.
Oh, you can still get them in the black lion chests so a side benefit to all the key farmers.
Key farming is practically the only rewarding content anymore.
Legendary are account bound on creation wth is wrong with you people -_- don’t you play the game?? https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/account-bound-wxp-legendaries-and-ascended-gear read the darn post….
" Legendary weapons will continue to be tradeable until equipped, at which point they will become account-bound (rather than soulbound)."
poor guy clearly never made a legendary…
Hopefully when they remove sclerite they lower the price of another set to 3 tickets from 5 to maintain a value option. I’d love me a zodiac something for less.
I believe the term you are looking for is “finite but unbounded”.
Why is this even a thing anymore? Since chages are free and there is a minus arrow and clear button this only adds needless clicks and slows down build swapping.
Lots of nice menu systems came with this patch but this part just stands out as a point of contention that spoils the fun of the new features.
My engi used to use my junk fractal loot apoth ascended rings in wvw, though I dunno if ascended weapons affect kits or not. You could always just use it for the nice skin and vendor it for a gold.
Go on youtube and watch videos of each path and see which one you don’t recognize, they are all pretty unique.
Have you all just considered what a warrior does with the vitality phalanx trait?
It renders all might bonusses useless. as the 1 warrior can keep 20-25 stack of might up ALL the time for his team… (forceful GS , FGJ and Signet of rage., any might from combo’s could be very useful as well)
That phalanx trait is toxic to grouping with a competent might stacker. It only grants a base 6 second single stack might each time versus an ele with just a set of strength runes giving 30+ seconds in multiples of 3×. Just like the aweful boon given by forceful greatsword thats an even worse 5 seconds. I’m just glad they buffed axe/* builds this patch with the extra dual weild trait so I can retire my greatsword to just showing off in cities.
As to the OP: strength is still the best but please by all means talk up other sets so I can get them for cheaper.
Isnt d/f the only ele weapon that has solo’d lupicus? That should tell you most of the reason why its the best for harder pve encounters.
World record for fastest lupy solo was scepter focus though that was only used for might stack then fiery greatsword against the wall for almost all the damage. I also know that staff has done it, but dagger focus is by far the most popular weapon set for that fight.
I’d be interested in seeing a video of staff doing it.
This is a recent one someone made of fractal 49 mai trin i really liked: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuwaTr6E4Os
