Frozen burst is getting a blast finisher in the next update, I highly doubt any sane dev team would follow that up with a water field on dagger offhand as it would be blatantly OP. If anything you can lobby for water trident getting a short water field instead of the proposed short duration regen boon added but I doubt you care about any weapon set except d/d going by your posts here.
I have a spare gift of mastery+set of 77 clovers and can probably scrounge together 500 of any token in a couple days except maybe arah(got sick of it after making my bifrost+the armor set).
The only problem is if I sold them then I’d have precursor/gift of fortune tier money but no more gift of mastery/clovers(arguably the hardest part of a legendary). A fat purse of gold isn’t nearly as useful to me as the potential having those gifts already locked in carry should I ever happen across a precursor randomly or a bl chest drops a permanent contract.
The real cost that limits me from folding this stuff into ingots/stars/bricks is obsidian shards. I am down to a little over 100k karma and still have entire bank tabs full of stacks of ascended mats, and this is after already crafting 7 ascended weapons and preparing enough vision crystals for a whole set of ascended armor.
That is all well and good for Staff. What about D/D?
We have no water fields. Personally i think that Cleansing Water should be a Water Field myself. It has the potential to be a great heal but for more of a Melee based heal it is rather stupid that it works better on a ranged weapon…
Engineers have http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Regenerating_Mist which grants a 1 second water field and is on a much shorter cooldown than cleansing wave, so there is somewhat of a precedent.
I don’t really like arcane brilliance TBH, but I ocassionally begrudgingly use it when I want more blasts. If it cleansed 1-3 conditions I could justify it but as it is I can only see it as an arcane wave with an animation that could get me killed. Actually if they removed the scaling heal per hit mechanic and just made it a blast with low heal numbers and a small cleanse i’d still prefer it over what it is now.
I agree. My 2 immobulus turn heads.
I’ve only seen 3-4 other players with the scepter, which is definitely more rare than most. However, I’ll say that I actually have never seen a person using abyssal scepter.
I recently upgraded from zojja’s to mists skins so I can sparkle when not bifrosting.
Pretty! I do love that scepter!
I sparkle with my anomaly/immobulus and my bifrost. Although, I’m very happy with the wupwup skin I got for a dagger a couple fractals ago!
Nice, to me Immobulus just screams asura for some reason but I play a stupid tree elf.
I went with tear of grenth dagger skin because ele dagger mainhand skills make the dagger disappear when you cast anyway. I may use my wup wup chest for a backup/stacking dagger skin though, its been sitting in my bank unopened since fractured update.

- Legendaries are Ascended, pseudo legendaries are exotic.
- Legendaries have OOC stat switching.
Legendaries are no longer just about the skin.
Realistically its much cheaper to just craft the 2-3 stat types that anyone will ever use of ascended weapons and just skin over them with nice looking skins.
Ascended anomaly>>>minstrel
At most you can get like 8-10 might stacks with puissance. With lava font alone you get an extra 2 ticks with persisting flames and burning retreat lasts a little longer as well, not to mention other weapon types. Over time that small amount of low duration might is not worth all the extra damage from a higher duration lava font.
I just did a little quick and dirty test and found that with 10x might from puissance my lava font pumped out 6448 onto the dummies in lion’s arch(they ignore crits, hence the dirty part). With persisting flames and nothing different in my build and zero might stacks lava font did 8070. Thats a 20% difference.
That ignores some factors like attunement swapping or conjures or having to dodge etc.. but its pretty strong of a reason imo to ignore puissance completely and just rely on you and your team’s ability to blast on your perma fire fields which by the way your finishers will also add fury.
You made no mention of minor traits. Minor traits are why this build works…
Quip will be much cheaper. I’d ask myself if I was planning to ever utilize the stat swapping feature or if there are other matching pretty skins for the one you don’t make a legendary of.
I run CoF daily, and I run the same build I do in WvW. D/D might stacking. I just throw on Frost Bow and FGS.
My build helps my team, I don’t die, we all live happily ever after.
This is why I avoid lfg parties with other ele if possible, its usually a d/d user that specs tanky like this and drags down the party yet feels good about themselves despite it for some reason.
I Generally, d/f and 30/10/10/20/0 with either bow or hammer conjures and greatsword when applicable. I just finished my anomaly and abyssal scepter so i’m trying out s/f occasionally but d/f is getting buffs next balance patch so I may default back to d/f. Also of course have a staff for fire camping when appropriate and as always either full berserker’s or 1-3 assassin’s, with scholar runes.
I just wish there was a dagger of the mists to match my anomaly :/

I run 25/25/10/10 on dungeons for max dmg (full zerker)
+10 charges on conjures; burn on crit (10% dmg against burning foes)
+20% dmg for foes under 50%; +10% crit dmg after a arcane
+10% dmg in melee range
+20% dmg when in water against foes with vulnerabilityS/F for might stacks, LH and 2 arcanes (blast and wave or shield if you need the extra defense)
With all the dmg modifiers and the might stacks, you get the autoattack chains from LH doing 6k-6k-10k dmg (or even more) with that setup.
FGS on bosses can get some big numbers also…[edit] its not a good build if you don´t know the fights, you need to know when to dodge and when to change you LH for a frostbow or your offensive utilities for defensive ones. You have little room for mistakes.
IMO the extra 15 in air is wasted in a decent party. Persisting flames with lightning clap is too good not to pair up for fury stacking and 20 water is decent party sustain all by itself. Warrior’s rending strikes is a given if you have one and his discipline banner replaces the trait points in air. Nobody can replace those flat 10% bonuses though.
- unfortunately, the creatures were not specifically designed to the constraints we have on pets in general. They are way more costly than your average ranger pet. In fact, they are exactly the same as the versions you fight in the open world which is what makes them so powerful.
Maybe you guys should take a pass at the elementalist fire elementals and add some fire fields to their rotations to mitigate some of the QQ?
;)
Backpedaling so quickly? You said it by how you framed your statement. Naming our two good utilities is saying glyphs suck by comparison.
So if glyphs suck so bad why does anyone care that their getting a cooldown? Why did people buy them by the stack?
As an elementalist main I felt fire ele powders marginalized one of our trademark skills, i’m glad to see it limited at least.
As an elementalist main, that elite skill and utility skill has never and still will never be found on my bar. Especially not to summon a fire ele.
I think that limiting this item has done far more bad than good, and to think that some people would use that as an excuse? Bah.
I didn’t feel like I was marginalizing rangers by using pet whistles. That’s absurd.
Nothing to see here… Time for me to move along.
Its because our pet summons are so bad that these should be limited, ele have to dedicate precious utility slots when anyone else doesn’t. Other classes get the benefit of their entire class ON TOP OF the minor utility that these pets add for negligible cost(people bought them by the stack).
But we could use the powders too….
If there was a feedback/wall of reflection consumeable with no cooldown it would devalue mes/guards party roles. In a game with no trinity it all comes down to what utility your class can provide.
All i’m saying is that having a trademark skill available for a negligible coin cost marginalized the uniqueness of having an ele in the party, even if those skills were less useful than other skills for any given content.

ITT devs trying to wiggle their way out by arguing semantics.
ITT a bunch of whiny kids with entitlement issues.
ITT a dude who thinks paying customers complaining about legitimate issues about being lied to makes them “whiny kids”.
Just because you pay them doesn’t mean your issues move to the top of the queue. They gave you a timetable, what more do you want?

I just finished leveling an alt that I outfitted with cultural armor t1/t2 because its nice not using the 1 skin low levels are given to wear for a huge stretch of leveling. I even used the 1-79 transmutation stones to increase their stats by using dungeon rares every 5-10 levels(its only about 210 tokens to fully armor).
Otherwise for my 80s I only buy sylvari cultural because it deviates from the norm and the underboob human assassin’s coat because underboob.
Jackpot! should’ve stocked more tbh

Not really going to sell them at this price, there is still room for growth.
You might want to refine that silver, or really any raw material that takes only 2 to refine and has little current crafting worth/value, its liable to get the silk treatment without warning.
Also i’m surprised nobody is screaming insider trading.
Flippers still making profit even after tax is proof that tax is fine as it is.
If I could do anything about taxes though, i’d give it an option to pay tax+listing fee entirely out of profits. If a new player gets a Dusk as a drop its just going to sit in his inventory for months until he can afford to list it(even if filling a buy order), especially if there is no safe-trade function.
Listen City of Heros had P2P trades that were fairly bulletproof. But it was in the game because a trading post … consignment house … wasn’t added until they had a crafting system which was year 3 of the game.
Not sure if it’s continuing existence contributed to the hyper inflation or just a side effect of rarity creating behavior that caused farming which netted a lot of money when you were looking for a specific item. We routinely had players that had to be creative how they stored their money because they had hit the bank’s 2 billion cap.
I remember people regularly trading 3-4 billion inf for a single pvp dropped item, requiring trust in someone not to screw you out of quite a bit of in-game money. Those items were farmed with player kills only so no money was created in farming them, however those devs were clueless on how to run an economy and there were lots of bugs/hacks/duping going on in that game with practically no enforcement like we have here.
If anet adds ingame trading you can expect some pretty huge inflation to follow. As much as i’d like it to save a little money I hope it doesnt happen for the sake of the game in the long run.
As to the OP, anet should not be punishing people for preying on stupidity. If I kill someone in wvw they lose money in repair fees because of their ignorance much in the same way yet anet doesnt punish player kills. Just place a pop-up warning into the email system when people attempt to send money stating that you assume all risk doing so.
Maybe if insignia from each armor profession was made by different materials damask would be less important and leather would have more value. Instead of ascended insignia needing 3 damask, if they used 3 elonian leather or deldrimor ingots those materials would be more valuable and silk wouldnt be exploding in cost.
Wintersday should boost our water attunement, spring/summer/fall should boost air/fire/earth. Youre welcome anet, make it so.
Its the only conjure that doesnt grant offensive stats, I dont think it was meant to do damage and the latest redesign reinforces that opinion. Its got two blocks and two crowd control skills and buffs tough/vitality and can offer decently high stacking protection. Not all weapons were meant to just spam auto attacks like lightning hammer, however I can agree its a pretty bad choice if you decide to go with the only trait for conjures.
I am no proponent of time gating but I get the reasoning why they did it. From the player’s standpoint its purely an annoyance but if you want to keep the appearance of a bustling city in your game you need people logging in every day and killing monsters in all the level ranges for new players to get that mmo feeling and to help move all that gold 80s make into the hands of newer players just leveling for the first time.
I made lots of ascended weapons but I only leveled tailor to sell damask, the skins are vomit inducing and the stat increase is too negligible for me to waste resources toward.
“Fixed a bug that caused Charged Quartz Crystals to drop instead of Quartz Crystals.”
From tonight’s latest patch notes, it might be a good time to re-purchase quartz since its still selling for about 1.2s, that is if you didnt get all the cqc you could ever need already while it was bugged.
OP: good rotation and I largely agree with your pugging philosophy but I don’t agree with using boon duration runes if you just use it to might/fury stack in pve. The real place those runes make sense is PvP where you are extending at least 3-4 boon types and then thats even primarily for survival.
The second round of might stacking even shows you still had like 30 seconds of fury still leftover that will probably just go to waste in a party situation.

It doesn’t take that long to craft it. If you missed the quartz while they were cheap (this is the real issue tbh) that’s unfortunate.
I did the new lions arch yak escort for a few minutes just chatting about the update and got well over 15 charged quartz crystals from giant present boxes that dropped. Quartz dropped by more than half because of this from 3s to 1.3s practically overnight.
Since it always crits you could start using cleanse on crit sigils or even generosity if they bring it back for wintersday. The new skills are just that, new. Not meant to invalidate all the old ones.
My only gripe is if they charge 25 skill points for them like that toxic garbage.
It should change to another type of skill IMO. If it was a signet there could be some sort of useful passive use for it, or maybe make the revive a skill on one of the conjures like ice bow.
Most of those items in your collections hold value better than gold. Unless you intend to spend it immediately i’d advise against this.
Half the price of the cultural gear its copying and it doesnt even need transmutation crystals to put it on your exotic gear. I can only see a negative if you payed 120g+20g for the transmutation crystals and now an even more unique version is out.
I just wish they’d change all cultural to be purchasable like this. Though I may be biased since Ive only bought ~3 T3 across all races combined.
oh and the heavy/medium skins are available for practically free from wvw vendors… those are truly a waste of development time.
what did the OP say before he deleted it?
If you angle your camera looking down right above your head it falls on you when theres no target.
I too am conflicted because the wormy dagger looks amazing but I really don’t want to skin over my zojja’s stuff and thats all I really use anymore.
Aww, who changed my alarmist title? These boards are no fun.
I learned my lesson after one-size-fits-all radiant armor(thankfully it was free), I only pay to skin to cultural skins if at all.
Have you ever noticed that all of the dungeon merchants are wearing a set of their respective armors. Well, except the merchant for Twilight Arbor.
Its a reference to the character nightmare from the soul caliber series.
A trait that protects you from conditions in a toughness traitline still seems a little backwards to me. If you want a condition buffer you should spec into vitality but anet has something against water.
This thread sorta makes me understand why anet wants to buff ele conjures so hard lately, the only viable party boosting utility we have otherwise is arcane wave on a field. I feel no shame running signet of fire or air almost 24/7.
Don’t worry OP guardians are mindnumbingly boring, you’ll be back on your ele eventually. And yes I agree its a stupid idea to soulbind gathering tools when no other tools in the game soulbind.
I’m almost to the point of just sitting on stacks like this having also made 4 weapons and not feeling compelled to dump gold into making more than maybe 1 other. You could probably make 5-10 vision crystals if you keep up on the dragonite, do vision crystals even stack? Maybe next big update we’ll see more recipes that utilize this stuff like food or infusions.
I think we’ll see it by january, i’m just saving up gold and cloth in the meantime.
Thanks for presenting that information, now I don’t feel so bad for just doing my daily and 2 paths of AC and CoF because I know its roughly the same gold/hr. Did you by chance take xp into account? How many skill point scrolls did you pick up?
The whole point of finishing npc’s is to sell finishers to non-pvpers.
Does anyone know if the new trickster light armor skin glows? It seems like it was made for sylvari.
