Scholar runes have come down dramatically in price. I recently 400’d tailor on an alt and realized I could make my own entire runes for less than 2g each. I’m still upgrading my alts but so far its a very noticeable boost, its rare to save up gold for something non-cosmetic so it feels justified to me. I think people just wrote them off back when charged lodestones were ~4g each as an unattainable luxury.
Sorry- I am no Ele expert at all- exactly the opposite.
But I have to ask- who sits in one attunement pressing one button?
0-0
Do people actually play Staff Ele like that?As for guardian keeping me alive- that is sadly spot on for me- at least in my defense I am only lvl30 and just really really suck at Ele.
I find that since I team up with my husband’s guardian I have gotten a much better grasp of what I can do with Ele because I can stay alive long enough to plan ahead :PMy Mesmers on the other hand…..man I seriously LOVE Mesmers
If you dig around the forums its been demonstrated that the highest ele dps in pve comes from full berserker/scholar staff just sitting in fire spamming 1 and 2/3/5 if theyre recharged. The other high dps build is lightning hammer which really is just spam 1111111…
OP: I play and fully ascended my ele knowing its still underpowered because it was my 1st character, I would switch to guardian or mesmer but they have annoying rp-mechanics that get in the way of my fun(holyness/butterflies).
It should get a boon steal effect if you don’t leap.
There are no “Medium” Population servers on NA. Only a couple high and most are “Very High” This must be a European sale
I just checked, its still 800gems to go from very high to high. Nevermind…
Which NA servers would be free? I need to get out of the T1.5 zergfest.
“Omg its too hard, nerf it”
Its not actually hard, just that 1 party worth of trolls(out of 80-100) can guarantee it fails. Even just afkers can scale it up and pretty much force a fail.
Thats poor design, or rather a design that uses players inability to just chit-chat for 90mins and spring to action at the sound of a baritone hylek.
Tequatl should have had a clearly defined triggering pre-event and when it starts all afk timers reset to a 1 minute kick countdown. They also need to do something about not being able to identify between downed or dead players in the water.
Tequatl was the first dragon I fought in this game, its too bad they removed him.
I greatly dislike “hard” content that gets its difficulty from the devs knowing we have poor communication skills within the game. The deep combat system is what hooked me to this game, its a shame to see it entirely ignored by new content(and lots of the dissapointing old content, like arah’s story…). Gimmick bosses that force you to use environmental weapons don’t encourage skilled play. I’d prefer it if that stuff happened in a cutscene because its not fun. I wish we had more lupicus tier stuff and less elemental-ooze nonsense.
there needs to be a poison shield, a dark shield (applying only blind,) there should be a torment shield, a reflect/retaliation shield, blade shield, there should be a meat-shield ftw! sacrifice your teammate to use them as a shield to absorb all incoming damage XD
sounds like a new profession to me
I got to the ooze-elemental door nonsense and then graciously dropped from party. I got the only TA skin I will ever want months ago and don’t care about scarlet or anything related to the sky pirates. Patches like this make me glad Anet updates so regularly because if I am not interested I only have a few days until something worthwhile gets teased and then released.
Just to be clear, it wasn’t expressly difficult but I hate these stupid gimmicks that require very specific strategies and more communication than a pick up group can manage over ingame chat.
It seems you’re just not skilled enough to do the dungeon or don’t want to even dedicate the time to understand the mechanics and explain it to the rest of the party.
This dungeon isn’t even hard. I really wonder how you’d deal with Arah P4.
Ive never even tried p4 because I only pug this game. I’ve done p1-3 enough to make its gift and a whole arah set if thats enough to qualify my opinion in your book…

I know its a pipe dream but I’m hoping there are different armor skins for each stat grouping the way there were different colors for ascended weapons. I will probably get a whole set anyway regardless but I’d like some more options if possible.
The bad thing about the 15point minor traits is that they only work when swapping attunements, which necessitates heavy investment in arcana for best results. The 5 and 25 point traits are better designed since they work for every attunement and allow for specialization.
Churning earth should do scaling bleeds/damage based on how long you hold the button down. A quick tap would be a minimum of the damage/conditions from ring of earth and a full churn would do what it does now. It could scale up for each second spent churning of the 3+ second cast time.
I guess I was wrong.
At least with a gem cost it will be prohibitive to use. I still don’t like the idea.
Re-trait on demand is potentially game breaking imo, and I hope it never happens. Since every class can potentially fill any role anyway having the ability to swap mid dungeon makes already trivial content even more trivial.
Insider trading?

I believe the driving force behind these ascended tier recipes…
I have the feeling the Anet economist is trying to clear out the huge stocks of mats that are stored on the trading post, stuff that nobody needed until now.
Wrong, he ignored copper ore, silver ore, thin leather section!!!!! (the higher section are necessary but this isn’t? stupid, this should have drained the super supply).
They aren’t done releasing all ascended just yet. I think eventually all materials will be used in some way. Maybe t1 will go into infusions or consumables.
when do you get to use new weapons
Any time you want as long as you aren’t in combat, just buy one from a vendor or the black lion trading post that matches your level. Rarity will determine strength if levels are equal, the tiers are(from lowest to highest) white, blue, green, yellow, orange, pink/purple.
You can also conjure weapons for 5 new skills temporarily once you unlock the utility slot for that conjured weapon. Collect skill points to unlock utility skills from the open world and unlock them in the hero menu.
If conjures are just getting buffed instead of mechanically changed we should at least be able to just pick up the second one ourselves and double our own personal charges and usage duration. Ideally we could drop them and they’d sit there on the floor like a banner that we could pick back up.
Also, Diogo’s combo isnt that bad since its dealing decent aoe damage and cc while it happens. I personally think its a waste of time and leave the support role to people in boon duration gear/builds. I have not run evasive arcana in a long while and have dust collecting on my old boon gear.
Bugged how? I just completed it last night but I was guesting to blackgate i think.
Blasting staff should also affect trident in some way(not range since water is 3d combat).
It’s not the best build imo. In order to take advantage of Piercing Shards, you’d have to switch to water. Then what will you do while waiting for attunement cooldown? If you really want Piercing Shards, I’d suggest relying on Lightning Hammer instead of Meteor Shower.
Otherwise, if you’re sticking with Meteor Shower, I’d drop Conjurer and get Pyromancer’s Puissance (you can spawn frost bow, use skill 4, and drop it). The extra 10 points could go to earth’s Serrated Stones for 5% dmg. And since you will be on fire all day, I’d drop Ember’s Might for Internal Fire (10% dmg while in fire).
I do agree the hammer is a better idea and acutally run it when not doing tequatl but tried to show a general build for this type of encounter. I would probably switch signet of air for it in this build though since the glyph is very nice to have for this encounter and because there are usually enough aoe boons and stability that it isnt too important, once you learn the mechanics you should never get cc’d.
I dont really like puissance at all, at most you can get like 7-8 stacks of might and you have to play a certain way to maintain it. Conjurer carries its own weight entirely when you cast fiery greatsword. Being able to use those skills even more is more damaging than practically any ele trait can give alone.
Piercing shards water attunement build works best because of the tanky gear matching up well with regeneration, i’d use the signet of restoration too but the extra might every time I am about to cast meteor shower is more useful. If you add up all the +dmg…
my build: +50% just by sitting in water, and it goes up to 70% in the final 2 stages of the battle.
puissance build: +40% sitting in fire, up to 60% with bolt to the heart with the variable extra few stacks of might which you may or may not be already getting from the zerg anyway.
It all comes down to whether or not you can maximize your time spent in water between meteor shower cooldowns. If you find yourself waiting for cooldowns the puissance build is probably better for you.
I was going to make a post about this but got lazy. Basically you want to take all your flat +damage% traits that can stack. Also Grab as much +power as you can and use skills like meteor shower/lava font, glyph of storms, ice bow #4, fiery greatsword 2,3,4(w/o a target),&5, etc..
With a big bag of hp that tequatl is bolt to the heart is mandatory imo. With this build you can swap between fire/water and just dump meteor shower on cooldown and use everything else while attuned to water for piercing shards to enhance it. I just picked the optimal gear but I personally don’t run those runes/jewels on my soldier’s set:
I am personally against the revive glyph because it casts almost as slowly as it would take to just revive someone and the 3 person revive never happens because of the confusion of a zerg and the inability to see if someone is downed or dead while in the water and it wastes an attunement to the useless staff earth(for this fight).
Good luck farming these materials, as you will mostly get high level materials with a level 80 character.
So most of the time you will get Gossamer and Silk, the lower level mats are basically unfarmable. This is what I fear it will look like.
I agree with your estimations. I recently did my main’s tailoring in anticipation of this causing price spikes but I only had to buy a few mats because I recently leveled a character and purposefully stagnated in the level ranges of the most expensive mats so they dropped more readily.
I believe the driving force behind these ascended tier recipes and methods of attaining all the other ascended items is to require high levels to communicate with lower levels as a method of keeping lower level zones active, which is healthy for the game as a whole, its also a method of wealth distribution since low level characters don’t typically farm dungeons or have access to as many lucrative world events.
gw2state.com
Use every level 80 you may have and do every orr temple once per daily reset. You can guest on two servers outside of your own per day as well to speed things up(still once per temple per day though). Each temple rewards 30 and you can regularly do grenth/melandru/lyssa/dwayna on the larger servers with the rare attempt at balthazar which usually fails and takes lots of effort to engage. Easily over 100 per day per level 80 character.
I am sorry to interrupt the thread like this, but can someone explain to me why there is a man called ‘solo’ who is not in [SOLO]?
If I wasn’t me i’d want to be in me too.
When you get to level 40 re-trait 20 points into fire and 10 into water. Take lightning hammer and the fire trait “conjurer” and the water trait “piercing shards” and use signet of restoration as your heal. Stay in water attunement and you’ll do huge damage with decent survivability that you can ride out until level 80, at which point you can try some of the endgame builds with exotic gear. Just avoid fighting dredge, they are immune to this build’s gimmick.
My comment on getting carried wasn’t meant to be personal at all, I just envy people who can regularly party with decent teammates. I’m not really a regular here so I don’t know which idioms trigger rage, sorry.
Ele traits are pretty bad overall but once you dump 60 in fire and air all you can really choose from is +10% from melee in earth, +20% from water if you go full conjures, or a largely personal boon collection from arcane.
I mainly run 10 in arcana instead of water for arcane cooldowns and free fury because I dont really do group content much anymore. People who can regularly run conjures and focus just seem lucky to be carried imo, must be nice though.
Also Churning Earth is terrible deeps, dat cast time sheesh
Do people actually cast churning earth and wait for the whole cast time? You should start casting it then swap to air and fire off 2&3 then swap to water and cast 4 all while still churning meanwhile youre activating fury on swap and get higher crit chance which should allow you to pop back into air for more pewpew.(assuming standard 30/30/0/0/10 dps build)
Im curious, what kind of content do you enjoy this build in most? I am generally against pidgeonholing ele into healing support but if you have fun with it i’d like to understand your point of view. Do you run mostly with a static group of people? Dungeons? Some flavor of pvp? Have you tried DPS builds and found them lacking?
It just seems like youre investing everything youve got into something every class is hard wired to accomplish themselves. Its ignoring the best part of combat in this game.
I mean, why not put Tequati in a separate instance?
Seriously why not?Because people are complaining to high heaven about maps being empty and servers being ghost towns so you want an instance that removes 100+ players from the game at a pop?
It is called fragmentation of the player base.
Seriously that is why
Bad example, overflows cause just as much fragmentation as an instance would but also add artificial difficulty because you can’t choose who you play with. Yesterday my server beat Tequatl and I was locked out in an overflow for over an hour before and several hours after it happened(3 failures). This is supposed to be open world content, I just think Anet is being too ambitious. There needs to be room in a map for at least 5x as many players as any single event is designed to require or else you run into bottlenecks like this is causing.
I actually like the event but perma-overflow with random strangers is sapping my desire to keep trying.
Static field switch from daze to stun next patch by the way.
It already stuns, do you mean the other way around?
Maybe a new signet elite?
TLDR:- is anet manipulating the trading post that’s supposed to be player driven?
No.
Awesome and your source?
No.
There needs to be a John Smith pvp finisher on the gem store where a big red “No.” drops on the corpse.
I don’t think it can yet. I lucked out by stocking up on a set of jatoro’s before the update. When they release ascended armor (sometime this year) you will be able to.
Upon further research it looks like dire trinkets come from dungeon recipes so full dire is possible(albeit pricey @ nearly 100g for everything exotic, though completely buyable) except for the back armor and jewels.
Since ele don’t really have any decent “on crit” condition traits would you suggest chrysocola jewels? Or would a mix of coral be better?
As a sylvari main I would respond saying i’d love to harvest vials of powerful blood, vicious fangs, and ancient bones from you stinking meat bags.
I actually really love the new Tequatl. Finally some non-dungeon hard content I can play without joining a formal “party”.
I only wish it had a more reliable way to initiate it(set of pre-events), the cooldown timer is so very punishing when people are still learning the encounter and it fails.
Hopefully the lazy people will eventually give up on it and the overflows die down and the player quality goes up.
transmutation splitters
/thread
ele nerfs were pretty much all in pvp/wvw, and on top of that other classes are seeing lots of buffs and new builds emerge while we only got one. If you look at the latest pvp tourney footage you wont see any ele.
pve is still completely doable in full zerk gear/traits. If you look in speed dungeon/high level fractal vids you might see 1-2 ele on a 5 man party.
Can dire stuff be crafted? I looked up on the TP and only saw Jatoro’s armor or crafted dire weapons, no trinkets.
Just don’t stagnate in d/d, try all the weapon combinations for long enough to know what they are best at. Most ele players are really inflexible and you see lots of whining on these boards when the 1 build they know gets changed.
…the only way you got is to salvage lvl 70-80 cloth armor or get them from various bags rarely…
This just goes to show how well Anet listens, junk loot becomes desireable when people complain about having mountains of it.
When I waypoint I try to offset the cost by doing an event or killing something and hopefully getting a green item to vendor. I rarely just wp and get nothing out of it, most of the time its very profitable. On top of that I use wvw liberally as a portable bank/TP/LA portal.
20g is probably a good estimate for me but it pales in comparison to the amount of gold i’ve amassed(but also spent, I’m always saving toward a set goal).
They should let you refine them into luck or something.
coming to the forum for a circlejerk
Isn’t that all that the dungeon forum is?
Ascended will be tradable in time. Anet always hold some time for new content before allowing it to be tradable. Just wait.
If not tradeable then just more available outside of crafting.
How about a dynamic cooldown that gets longer the longer you wait to use it? That way it discourages breaking out from combat but encourages frequent use in combat.
