Black dude can use the force, he kills some Sith.
Oh the humanity...
No more dragon stuff please...
Welcome to game theory.
I believe warrior elite specialization was made this bad because they wanted to stick to the no magic theme and realized that limitation limits the creativity of it.
hence why we simply got physicals by a different name as new skills.
Yeah, because throwing fireballs and molten rocks around is not magic...
I don’t even know why magic is supposed to conflict with the core class design, to a higher or lesser degree ALL individuals possess magical abilities in the Guild Wars universe.
Magic doesn’t have to be limited to staves and robes, it can be more subtle.

Well, players cried when they were releasing armorsets in the gemshop. Well, they don’t anymore, now they release outfits.
When they were selling armors the wardrobe wasn’t a thing.
And it’s not a moot point, it’s integral to the argument that you can’t complain about the change to AF because it’s not comparable to adrenaline.
It’s adrenaline with a fancy name, literally.
The fact that you have a CPU with horrible single-thread performance is not Anet’s fault.
It’s an MMO running on a old engine with a d3d9 renderer... there’s nothing else to it.
For open world HoT play str/def/zerk is simply awesome.
Full DPS-like damage while being pretty much unkillable with with the free Defy Pain, stunbreaks for days, the 1000 thoughness + heal that comes with them (Rousing Resilence) or even Dead or Alive for when you go full kitten? Yes please.

ITT: People who can’t read.
Meta (or any other word) means whatever people who use it are trying to convey.
This is language 101, OP.
>Implying Tequatl (or anything in the game, really) is hardcore.
As was stated probably many many times, simply doubling Teq’s HP was not the answer. A +50% boost maybe.
With only 50% more any half decent map would still skip all the turret defense phases.
Therefore making it an AFKfest again.
I’m going to complain because I can’t win the sPvP tournaments nor stay in a high ladder position to get the exclusive glorious armor and the mini llamas.
Anet, fix this filth.
They should scale the damage down then, the whole "horizontal progression" thing makes little sense when you end up having a massive amount of power creep anyway.
So i see post after post of people saying Tequatl is fine because they can beat it and i wish theyd realize that “i can beat it, herego Teq is fine and everyone can do it” is fallacious leap of logic
Conversely, “I can’t beat it, ergo Teq is not fine” is another fallacious leap of logic.
So is “everyone should be able to do it”.
What is it about “Casual Gaming Experience” that you don’t get?
What is about the other 22 bosses that you don’t get?
I am here to speak for the silent majority in the game.
Actually, you don’t speak for anyone else than you.
The average gamer is not part of a gigantic guild with organised leaders who know the game inside out. We rarely even have friends who play to begin with. The average gamer wants to have fun and small challenges to receive a sense of accomplishment together with other gamers. We do not want to be exluded *Read 80s Exp Only*, fail *Get destroyed by tequatl/Evolved Jungle Wurm*
It happens to me as well but in PvP, I haven’t played WvW for two years and I’m a mediocre sPvP player but I have found the solution for all those problems and I’m about to blow your mind, brace up:
- Go do any of the other 22 world bosses.
- Join casual dungeon parties.
And there you have all your problems solved, look at how easy it was.
The last time I payed to play a game. I remember I actually wanted to do everything there was. I find it highly unusual that people pay for a game just to skip a large chunk of content like a World Boss. But this is exactly what is happening right now.
That’s because they don’t actually want to do the bosses, what they want is complaning about them on the forums which is exactly what’s happening right here.
If they indeed wanted to do the bosses they would just do them as there is an endless supply of daily runs at anyone’s fingertips, understanding English (which is given in this case) and 5 minutes to apply for a guild is all it takes.
(edited by Spiuk.8421)
I have news for those esentially complaining about not having a group to do the content with, this is a MMO, socializing is and should be an important part of the experience.
Get. A. Guild.
but with world boss, how much control do you actually have...? Other than 1) try get into a good server via friend- spam that join!, or 2) don’t do it at all.
3) Join a PvE guild that does world bosses.
It takes 5 minutes, literally.
angry mob= paying customers and they should always be right
Are you somehow implying that those who love the fixed Tequatl are not paying?
That’s absolutely brilliant mate, great stuff.
(edited by Spiuk.8421)
*No* I don’t. Everyone needs to be doing their best at Teq but no one and I mean *no one* can be perfect when you’re in a random PuG.
They don’t have to be perfect whatsoever, look at one of today’s 18:00 EU run:
7 minutes left on a map with tons of pugs, upscaled defenses a bone wall and a full wipe.
7 kitten minutes to spare after failing in every possible way, and yet you’re trying to argue that it takes some kind of highly organized map full of skilled players executing the encounter perfectly to succeed.
Insanity.
(edited by Spiuk.8421)
Yes, you want a boss that can be killed while the people you can’t control presses 11111.
That’s what Tequatl was for more than a year and that’s you’re asking for it to be again.
Here a list of world bosses you can do instead:
- Shadow Behemoth
- Fire Elemental
- Great Jungle Wurm
- Inquest Golem Mark II
- Claw of Jormag
- Mordrem Vinewrath
- Admiral Thadia Covington
- Eye of Zaithan
- Legendary Karka Queen
- Risen High Wizard
- Legendary Sand Giant
- Svarnir Shaman Chief
- Rhendak the Crazed
- Ogre Wars
- Modniir Ulgoth
- Megadestroyer
- Dredge Commissar
- Drakin Cinderspire
- Risen Priest of Balthazar
- Risen Priestess of Lyssa
- Statue of Dwayna
There you have quite a few hours of hypercasual content to be played every day, and yet you’re here asking for one of the only two engaging bosses to be even more dumbed down, that’s absolutely ridiculous.
(edited by Spiuk.8421)
Let’s just get this out of the way, Tequatl in its current state is killable with more than 9 minutes to spare, and that’s with lots of PuG players and poorly optimized parties not some ultra-organized guild-only run.
So stop pretending the fight is now some kind of hardcore DPS check, it is not.
Seeing people complain about having to use 4 buttons instead of 1 to kill a world boss makes me wonder how can they deliver "challenging content" in Heart of Thorns without 90% of the playerbase freaking out big time...
ArenaNet can’t win.
(edited by Spiuk.8421)
What is this nonsense with health doubled?
It takes longer to kill, which is a good thing since it was a joke before not only because the whole first phase lasted for like a minute but because all the intermediate phases ceased to exist when power creep made them 100% skippable.
- Crit spot needs to be LARGER. I stand on it, and if I turn slightly and start my hundred blades, I suddenly realize I’m doing 0 dmg because I’m slightly turned to the left.
Stop turning to the left then? After at least 80 levels playing warrior surely you know how the skills work.
- For ppl to be able to stand in crit spot they need to dodge when teq rears to avoid his slamdown=instant down. In general with difficult content => before you double health, make it easier/more obvious for players to understand the mechanics and animations.
Slamdown = jump and keep doing damage, you don’t even need to dodge.
The animation is already slow and painfully obvious, I don’t see how they can make it even more easy without some kind of cast bar (which is something that does not exist in GW2).
Right now it’s just a big mess and trying to teach 100+ ppl when to dodge isn’t fun/possible
So you think the Tequatl should be AFKable like the rest? It only requires a few simple mechanics from the players, this would be the absolute bottom of the barrel in other MMOs.
- I start LAGGING on the last burn. I suspect it’s due to new condi caps. So maybe before you double health which by itself sounds like stupid quick fix to mollify ppl QQing (will you already ignore all the whiners for once?), maybe fix the lag first? I can’t hit Teq properly because of this lag. I hit my skill, nothing happens, I hit it again, in 5 sec it goes through and cancels itself because I hit the thing twice.
This is a valid point, but I don’t see how lag it has anything to do with the encounter itself.
Anyway, not having much fun here due to the above issues
So your idea of fun is killing a boss in 10 seconds or pressing 1 and going AFK for 10 minutes on top of a box while your character shoots at a robot that can’t hit you back, and that’s fine but you already have many other world "bosses" to do that stuff, the vast majority in fact.
I saw ppl in guild chat QQing 5 min after patch went live how new UI is confusing, because they were too lazy/stupid to try and click things first.
And yet here you are, complaining about how "Tequatl is hard" because you are "too lazy/stupid" to follow 3 extremely simple mechanics.

play courtyard, best solution
Sounds like an exploit which needs fixing.
U never played GW1
I did. I have 50/50 and GWAMM (long before GW2 was released).
Then you surely know fake casts where one of the most important (if not he most important) mechanic for monks and midlaners.
You’re not too bright, are you?
Bump!
This bug not only stops you from getting a full sinister set but also from finishing the luminiscent armor collection, just removing the requirement from the meta would a good temporary fix if you can’t replicate the bug.
The change affects open world zones as well, the power caps at Tequatl and Triple Trouble are different from yesterday.
Time to optimize the builds... again.
(edited by Spiuk.8421)
’we dont give a f*** get a better pc or get out’
That’s actually not a solution.
Two years after release even the most powerful desktop CPU (i7-5960X which retails at 1000€) can’t hold the 60fps at Tequatl with "All" reflections and "Ultra" shadows, probably due to the ridiculous Direct3D overhead on draw calls.
And there’s not much they can do on that front since DirectX12 is clearly not an option. Even if they waited for it to come out before getting into engine stuff (which they won’t do) it will be Windows 10 only.
There are lots of issues with an MMO. Some of them are due to rendering (GPU)
I wouldn’t say GW2 is GPU intensive, even mid-tier ones are perfectly capable of running it at max settings with supersampling thrown on top with the CPU still being the bottleneck. All MMOs have the same problem, WoW on a good card has no problem pushing close to 120fps at max settings while questing, then you go to the Highmaul entrance at raid hour and you have a slideshow...
(edited by Spiuk.8421)
They mentioned before that one of the masteries could be for tearing off a mordrem’s defensive "bark" better. That gauge might represent these defenses, sort of like shields in a shooter game.
Marauder Shields never forget.
Please sir, find that game that has no grind and only has content and enjoy it for yourself.
Guild Wars.
But anyway... It’s funny that they have the balls of marketing GW2 as the "anti-grind" MMO when it’s by far the most grindy game I’ve played in a lot of time (since Tibia in the early 00’s to be precise).
(edited by Spiuk.8421)
This is closer to GvG than what GW2 players refer to as GvG from what I understand.
Not saying your criticism is invalid, however, there are two groups of people with two vastly different definitions of GvG. For one of those groups Stronghold seems to hit pretty close to home when it comes to GvG.
Explain please because I am confused.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/GvG
It sounds like this new game mode will be something like that with some added DOTA elements on top, probably to "stall" the game at different points of the map (since we don’t have a sustainable trinity now).

What was *not* anounced for the new expansion
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Spiuk.8421
Is it just me or the whole concept of this thread is pretty irrational? Anyway...
Here a list of other things HoT will not contain:
- DirectX 13 support.
- Free tickets to the next E3.
- Slavery simulation.
- Edible pillows.
- After-shave commercials.
- In-character Pastarian faith.
Absolutely, I’ll preorder it as soon as posible.
I didn’t pay an extra euro in 2 years, it’s nice to see they finally want my money.
To be fair in GW1 you had way more than 8 people in most Guilds as well, and yet GvG only allowed 8 people at a time.
Semi-serious GvG guilds had 10-12 people, plus alliances for occasional reserves.
If you think that the gw2 gvg is something that is just a spam zerg fest then it just proves that you’re ignorant.
Sure it does, whatever makes you feel good champ.
(edited by Spiuk.8421)
If you want me to introduce you to the GvG scene and the metas/tactics going on, I will easily convince you that it is much more than a spam fest. Guild wars 2 combat is very confusing if you don’t know whats going on.
I’m perfectly introduced already, but thanks.
I was just stating some facts.
It sounds like an evolution of the actual Guild Wars GvGs which were pretty popular and extremely well designed (the best PvP mode in any game to this date if you ask me) with some DOTA-style elements added on top.
Very few people actually cares about that ridiculous spamfest you have going on the corner of some WvW map, in fact, I’m sure the combat designers are bit ashamed of their work when they see that stuff (I know I would...)
I’m pretty excited about this to be honest, it won’t be as good as the original ones (GW2’s combat system is way too dumbed down for it) but if they manage to capture the overall feeling, this new game mode could end up being a hugely successful.

How does not liking mediocre episodic stuff make me hypocrite?
Hopefully paid.
Eww, no.
Truly disgusting idea.
Thief is fine.

The last time they tried to do marketing "The Manifesto" happened, glad they stopped.
Yeah, lack of trinity is nice because, unless you’re one of those 3, you’re not valued. Frankly, I’m surprised that people like the holy trinity. It’s very limiting.
No, limiting is reducing all classes to pretty much press 1 and go AFK.

Prestige in a videogame... LMFAO
I suggest a set that requires 100 Tequatl AND Wurm kills to craft ( ?° ?? ?°)

Any list that shows LoL and Minecraft as a 1st places is totally discredited.
You must be living under a rock then, League of Legends and Minecraft are hands down the most played PC games right now.
I see a lot of the usual ’learn to play’ nonsense... and I’m sorry guys, but it IS nonsense.
So cool, you’ve played 3000 hours, have excellent gear and tried all possible combinations of traits etc. on your character and can switch builds without even thinking about it. I dare say a lot if not most players are not like that. And for those who are not like that, the fight can get VERY frustrating indeed.
Which is good, this is lvl 80 only content aimed at people who should already be familiar with their characters, traits, abilities and how to press a key to dodge or jump.
You can’t ask them for less zerging and more engaging content while complaining every time they put something that requires a bit more than pressing 1 and going AFK, that’s the only nonsense here.
It’s like freaking Liandri all over again, but this time you don’t even have a point since the fight itself is not even mildly challenging.
(edited by Spiuk.8421)
There’s no way for them to know if you’re using hardware macros unless you go full kitten and make them cycle in like 1ms intervals or something.
(edited by Spiuk.8421)
We need also a button to skip the fights. It is very annoying to have boring fights until you can follow the next dialog.
You should check out these things:
I found it extremely easy to be honest... all mechanics are slow and highly telegraphed.
People on TS seemed to agree.

Anet launched the game saying there would be no GvG in the game. I think they’re probably looking at it now, but it was well known before launch that would not be part of the game.
I can’t say why that is, but we can theorize that in Guild Wars 1, though there was a hard core population of people into it, most players weren’t. They didn’t want to spend resources designing something up front that most people wouldn’t use, even though some were passionate about it. As I said, that’s just a guess though.
All of which is odd as they also indicated that they wanted GW2 to be an e-sport, something that is poorly supported by the current implementation.
>GW2
>e-sport
