A quick look through Metabattle and I ‘ve seen that most PvE builds use berserker’s gear. At least, trait builds and weapons vary.

Imo, the game gives a lot of tools to costumise your character to reflect your personal playstyle. As long as you take the time to think of course.

Stefanos.1673

Greetings to the GW2 community.

Since the launch of the game, I have been creating and using my own builds for my characters in both PvE and PvP. However, with the imminent release of HoT and its “challenging group content”, I thought I might seek out and implement other people’s ideas to change or perfect my characters’ builds.

Therefore, I am looking for some sites where I can do exactly that. I ’d prefer sites with a variety of builds supported by an enthusiastic and imaginative group of people, who are not into braindead warzerking gameplay.

As for the matter at hand, I ’d say that Guild Wars 2 is by far the best MMO on the market atm. However, there is still some work to be done before it can deserve the perfect 10. Standing at 9 for me now with the rest MMOs being at 7.5 and down.

When I say PvE, I mean Living World content and World Bosses. For example, my home server hasn’t beaten Tequalt, but 3 or 4 times. I had to guest to Desolation in order to experience the whole fight.
Unfortunately, Gunnar’s Hold and Aurora Glade are 2 servers where the transfer costs 2400 gems, which is an amount I am not prepared to give.

Greetings, with the recent levels of stupidity in my home server rising faster than the temperature in a desert during midday, I am thinking of changing my home server and transfering to another one. I am only interested in PvE.
However, I am not really into servers’ population or the gameplay value they are offering. Therefore, I thought I should talk openly to the community and ask

Which are in your opinion the best servers for PvE in EU?
I am mostly thinking about Gandara, because it is free.

Anet, gw2 hardcore or casual?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Stefanos.1673

-Personal Story – There have been complaints about personal story not being casual enough since many missions are hard by design unless you are X class or unless you bring friends to help you

A single tough mission every 20 personal story missions is a nice change of pace.

-Recent change to Risen: Apparently Anet have fixed a bug to the Risen unit which magically gives risen 100 extra skills that hit for even more and also the morale of escort quests for temples that makes those quests nearly impossible

Nearly impossible? Toughen up, kid.

-Fractals: Fractals are not for everyone since it takes an insane amount of time where you have to deal with supposedly the hardest dungeons in game filled with jumping quests and traps

Hellooo? Fractals have levels?

-queen’s gaunlet: Pretty obvious even though it was plagued with bugs.

Queen’s Gauntlet was easy as hell (as a full exotic warrior). Only Liadri needs a bit (and ONLY A BIT) of actual effort to get her on the ground.
Do not take me wrong, I am a really casual player, balancing my other hobbies with studying at uni and GW and I play an hour a day average. GW2 is the best combination of casual gameplay with tough bits now and then. If you think GW2 is a hardcore game, then Hello Kitty Online must be the game for you.

500 AP for GW1 Hall of Monuments Intended?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Stefanos.1673

It’s hard to look at the leaderboard as being competitive because it is all time based. Congratulations, you play 16 hours a day. It is not skill based at all, it just shows who has the most time available. Of course, there is a bit of other things involved, like who can optimize their time best, but that can easily be overridden by others with more time.

I know, I know. I can’t take it seriously either.

However, since people are crying over it, let’s humor them with simple solutions to a non-issue.

What’s more laughable than the achievement leaderboard? The people who complain about when they lose their spot on said leaderboard.

My thought was that Anet intended it to be fluff. (Achievement points in any game I’ve played in tend to be fluff, for the most part) It’s more like. “Hey, I got these points! I’m over there on the boards.” It allows for some chatter. Considering the indefinite, disorganized approach and lack of points balance, that seems to be the case.

Unfortunately, it seems like people take things too seriously. Then again, people have complained about meaningless mini games and random commander tags in PvE, and I’m sure if you moved a tree in the middle of a forest in the middle of nowhere someone would go on some rant about how Anet sucks and they’re leaving.

:(

Really now. I can’t even keep my achievement tracking visible due to all the clutter popping up and suddenly the greatest issue of the game is A-net showing some thanks to their long time supporters? What? Deal with it!

I haven’t seen such a decent post in these forums for ages…

I’m hoping for:
Exotic Gear Box for your character’s profession.
Jugs of Karma.
Bags of Coins.
800 Gems. (enough to get 1 cool thing or multiple smaller things)
and a randomly generated account bound type item (BLK loot table, rare quality or higher)

I know I’m dreaming, but this would be really nice. It should be as impressive to a monthly as the monthly reward is to the daily.

Seriously? You would want gear and gold for the 1-year birthday of the game? There is only 1 thing you cannot fix in a game… Its community…

I do not know if anyone has actually written this above, however I really have to say:
If you are level 80, the new dailies beg to be done in Frostgorge Sound. Outside the Honor of the Waves instance, there are dozens of dead Kodan underwater with 3 events happening around the area every 10 minutes. That means that you can pretty much get all underwater kills, all events and all resses in a matter of minutes.

Stefanos.1673

I did not manage to find a thread like that anywhere so, I am posting my suggestion under a new topic. Here’s the situation in my server:
During the Shatterer and the Claw of Jormag encounters players, instead of properly following the battle’s tactics and the “story” of the event, they choose to pile up on certain “safezones” where the dragons’ attacks would not hit them. Those spots are situated:
1. Near the right front foot of Shatterer and
2. near the left front foot of the Claw
Standing there, they simply spam their ranged attacks and wait until the boss is dead.
Such behavior, however, downgrades the whole feeling of the event and diminishes its epic impact in our character’s story.
Therefore, my suggestion is simple: Make the dragons able to rain death upon those safezones.

Just because someone tries to accomplish something does not mean it happens. Gearing up is a grind. Also, I can only think that the people who “grind” dungeons for skins only are the ones who have played for 700+ hours. Most people are grinding the dungeons for gear because crafting the set they want is not possible.

That’s not exactly right. If you are of the first Guild Wars’ generation, then collecting skins is something we normally do.

Which you are NOT required to get. The minimal increase does very little to make you stronger, and what little increase it DOES make, accounts for NOTHING if you can’t hit the person that’s killing you.

And If I can hit the person? Vertical progression is not optional.

There’s a small difference between ascended and exotic.
A small difference between exotic and rare.
A small difference between rare and masterwork.
A small difference between level 80 gear and 79.
A small difference between level 78 gear and 79.
And this goes on.

No one says this is an astronomical impact, but it’s a fact that a difference exists and is there.
Stop using this ‘argument’ to try and debunk a fact. You are not required to get gear, no one is.

The difference doesn’t matter. You can beat this game in “greens” with little to NO problem. That ALONE, makes it optional.

Arah path 3 in Greens is not little to NO problem.

I will just repeat what I said above. Wait until the full ascended set comes out and then we will see if the +120 power, +120 precision and +25% crit damage will make any difference.

And, as I said before, unless you can hit the person that’s killing you, it will amount to NOTHING. You can have +800 to everything, and +100% crit, and it will STILL not matter.

You are now obviously reffering to World vs World. I know nothing about WvW, nor am I talking about it. I am only concerned about gaming liberty in PvE.

Were people doing dailys before? yes. Were there umpteen billion posts saying dailys were a grind before the introduction of laurels? No. But now that you can actually get something for playing exactly like you did before its a grind?

You don’t play exactly as you did before the new dailies. With the new dailies you play for the new dailies. If you don’t you won’t achieve them. That’s pretty straightforward.

Basically, Anet made dailies give too much good stuff, so that it’s worth a lot more than the past dailies. So when people see it now, their mentality changes from “Oh, it’s just a daily for karma and stuff… no big deal to miss…” to “Oh! It gives Laurels!? I must not miss it! Dang! I don’t want to grind this for those things!”.

I blame Anet for making dailies worth more than the past versions. Obviously people were going to say it’s now a grind :P. (I’m being sarcastic).

But, if you look at dailies from a more nit-picky point of view, dailies actually got less grindy. They gave us more choices and variety for the daily. Of course, not everyone looks at the small details. Just the general picture, and that’s dailies now reward laurels, which can be used for Ascended gear.

New dailies without rewarding laurels. Duh…

All this and STILL no way of crafting exotic back pieces or breathers.
They added ascended before rounding off the previous gear tier; of course they never planned to have ascended in the game. It’s a last minute bodge-job attempt to retain users who’ve already left.

Instead of all this ascended crap, they need to really focus on finishing what was initially released.
They need to make all stat-combinations of exotic available through all means.
We need more than a few token exotic back pieces only available through karma vendors or fractals.
Breathers stop with Gavebeorn’s green masterwork one and go no further; you can’t even get an exotic breather through WvW.

And then, they can finally concentrate on rolling out ascended properly. I still think it has no place in the game at all, but if they’re going to continue to roll it out, then they should do so with consistency.
When releasing a new type of ascended piece, they need to ensure that all stat combinations are available at the same time, as well as all routes of acquisition: crafting, badges of honour, dungeons, fractals, drops and laurels.

The way they’re doing it at the moment stinks of panic and rushing.

Mostly agreed. However, I would prefer to see the ascended items being fully withdrawn from the game.

I play the game exactly as I did before. I did my dailys before everyday for the karma and 5 silver. They want to give me laurels now? Great. It didn’t make the dailys more of a grind, it’s the exact same process (well different process now, which was sorta stupid) takes 15 minutes to half hour. It added no grind, except in your own mind.

To you, it is not grind, since you are doing the same thing. On the other hand though, there are also casuals, like myself, that choose to play 4 days a week due our work or education. With the new laurel system, casual people just can’t keep up with the rewards. Being forced to play each day definitely IS grind.

Judging from the videos they are just a bunch of kids with little gaming experience making it up as the go. They have shown the propensity to turn on a dime without looking back when it comes to design philosophy. I don’t trust a word they say.

I agree in the most part with what you say. Guild Wars 2 was a game with no grind at all, except the cultural armors and the legendary weapons, which were not mandatory and therefore could not really be considered as “heavy grind”, as you say. However, all this changed since the introduction of the ascended tier. There is only ONE way to acquire each piece of ascended gear, thus making the promises of non-grind and liberty to the player simple marketing tricks. I mean that we are FORCED to log in daily in order to acquire the new amulet as well as perform consecutive runs of the Fractals of the Mists dungeon. I once thanked ArenaNet for making a great game for us, casuals, and right now I regret having done so. Let alone the fact that there are not many stat combinations for the ascended gear. For example there is no power, precision, toughness gear and therefore the liberty of making your character exactly as you want also goes away.
There are also those who defend the ascended and say “what difference are 5 points gonna make?”. Well, it is not just 5 points, it is much more, if you consider the fact of a full ascended set coming soon enough.
Generally, speaking, I could HAVE said that GW2 has no grind 2 months ago, but right now, I am very disappointed and I am just watching how things are going to evolve…
