Can a Wyld Hunt be wrong or impossible?

in Lore

Posted by: SunRain.8972

SunRain.8972

First off the basic idea of a sylvaris way of seeing the dream is as a guiding light in a very fanatic level. That when they assume they finally know the message of the dream they are right and all is wrong.
Guild Wars pretty much shows that moral is not a universal construct and its abit more complex, so a sylvari who is brute and its wyld hunt is to be a great fighter can end up having the wrong way of seeing its wyld hunt. i’d say many sylvaris might have got the wrong meaning of their Wyld Hunt

Sylvaris first time in Elona

in Lore

Posted by: SunRain.8972

SunRain.8972

So i assume this will be the Sylvaris first time ever in Elona, or interacting with humans from another continent where they go to for the first time.
Would humans from Elona be surprised by Sylvaris? Shocked? they definitly saw death in their life so it would be less scarry but might be awe-worthy.
Also, i remember sylvaris do like to talk cultural fashion stuff, you have Sylvaris in the grove speak about their armor looking better.
a better example that i could give for a Sylvaris experience of Elona would be: a Sylvari can change its hairstyle (As you can see with Scarlet changing her hair from living world season 2 ) what would be the reason for a Sylvari to change its hair to something that would resemble a more Elonian look?
how would you think Sylvaris react to Elona? Especially Valiants, Sapplings or Wyld hunters.

Fate of the Pale Tree (S2 spoilers)

in Lore

Posted by: SunRain.8972

SunRain.8972

She was capable of telling her attendants to summon us, and giving us those memory seeds. That would have been plenty of time to gasp out a warning instead of sending us on a wild goose chase.

Plus, I don’t think it’s too unreasonable that a grieving sylvari who lost much of her life’s work (i.e. the Pact), had many of her own siblings turn against her, was treated with suspicion and hostility even by so-called friends, was forced to mercy-kill Trahearne, and all the while had Mordremoth trying to twist their soul inside out might want answers, or be angry with their mother even though they still love and worry for her too.

It’s the same with Caithe: we can hold her responsible for her theft of the egg and general erratic behavior, but not for refusing to warn us about the dragon. If the Pale Tree was incapable of talking, Caithe at least should have warned Trahearne and the Commander. Withholding information is a killer.

Caithe is described alot of times as erratic in her behavior and attitude, even in the story dungeons its mildly shown by her attitude and the words she chooses towards Destinies Edge. The problem is its hard to elaborate the entire racial identity so much and give Sylvari so much route during the living world or personal story that is why they get bits of new dialog instead. I hope they will bring back the racial stories at some point back to expand on that.

The question of Palawa Joko and Zhaitan

in Lore

Posted by: SunRain.8972

SunRain.8972

all this points the were brought up bring me to another question then.
considering Ghosts are not affected by Zhaitans power but Zhaitan is the dragon of death and risen are still undead but not as undead as a zombie, but still count as dead that were risen or living being corrupted to be dead the question is how vast was Zhaitans control over other types of undead if could have. I mean, he did rise a dead nation from the bottom of the sea. Its like powers of Mordemoth over plants or Primoridus over fire and so on.

The question of Palawa Joko and Zhaitan

in Lore

Posted by: SunRain.8972

SunRain.8972

it may seem trivial considering Zhaitan is dead, but the question regarding one of the most powerful undeads in Tyria are both Zhaitan and Palawa Joko. In the personal Story for the Sylvari there is another lich, soldier risen of Zhaitan called “Mazdak the Accursed”. Zhaitan is strong enough to control one lich but would we assume he control Palawa Joko, or was he strong enough to fight off Zhaitans control? What about his army of the dead though?
it isn’t relevant with the time line now, but in terms of lore the clash between two figures who control the domain of death this question does leave kitten.
What happened in Elona while Zhaitans power started emerging and how was Palawa Joko affected by it?

I really wish Anet would already say “Yes we are aware of the problem” But so far nothing.
The prologue is bugged for so many people and so many people are left out of being able to do contents.
by now i would expect atleast a small light of hint saying “Yes we are trying to do something about it” but nothing, feels like preordering the game was a waste, waiting for the game was a waste and living on the other side of the globe means 0 service when it comes to bug resolving.
So Anet would be nice for a little nod that, that issue has been noticed the least.

in Living World

SunRain.8972

Well PCs are always unique. Never become affected, i’d assume either they make a unique dialog for sylvaris just as they done all this time: for example sylvari always addressed the pale tree at this living world as “mother”, almost never the pale tree.
considering this is somesort of analogy – one dragon could not corrupt sylvaris, this one controls them. there was theory at the start of Guild Wars 2 someone made that sylvaris are dragon minions at the pale tree is a dragon. Well this proofs this theory partially true, i really am curious what what the nightmare court would make of this though.
Nothing will be the same for sylvaris in the lore as far as this goes.
most races when they are fear driven don’t think well – hence rytloks statement.

Mursaat in Guild Wars 2

in Lore

Posted by: SunRain.8972

SunRain.8972

Well the asura scholar studying the mursaat in Arah explorable mode, says that they fled the world. So it seems they went into the Mists – where in the Mists is unknown.

Though this brings up an interesting thought to me: a while ago, there was a large discussion on the “alchemy circle” – a design that was on Prophecies backgrounds – in lore this is a map of the Mists made by Lord Odran. Here is the image:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v86/disconected/guildwars/Alchemy_light.jpg

Take note of one of the symbols – a triangle with a design in it, possibly… an eye. Familiar?

Perhaps the mursaat went to another world, one which Odran found, and through him they learned Tyria was safe from the Elder Dragons and returned.

Their fear of the titans would likely come from the Flameseeker Prophecies, foretelling the extinction of their race on Tyria (a puppetmaster plot by Glint to remove them, perhaps because they nearly wiped out the seers and fled the Elder Dragons, leaving the other races to become corrupted – Glint may have feared them doing the same when the ED were to reawake, something she knew would be inevitable). Considering that the titans are said to be as old as the forgotten, and the seers had past experience with them “eons” prior to GW1, it’s possible the mursaat also had past experience with the titans and knew that the prophecies could come to pass – thus they worked to prevent them and inevitably created a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Originally the Human race is an alien to the world, a race that was brought from another planet. The Mursaat controlled the Whtite Mantle so they might seek it back in some form of way in another planet.

I think the pale tree’s magic protects them from being corrupted into risen, but I may be wildly off base here.

i think if the pale tree had that much power it would have used its power to fix the corruption all the elder dragons have made and force the Nightmare Court to disband and make more then one weapon.

but its still a really good thought though it might work only in Caledon Forest where its power is strong.

SunRain.8972

Welcome to the world of pick-up groups.

Sadly, it doesn’t always work out well in these groups. Assuming you don’t have a guild (always good to run with guild members):

1) If you think it’s going to be more pain than not, just make a polite notice and drop-group, save yourself the bother.

2) When you have good runs, and gel with somebody, make sure you friend them. Build up a contact-list of people you’ve met in the game that you enjoy playing with inside and outside of dungeons.

3) Before running an instance with a PuG, talking to guildies (if possible), and then go through your contact-list. Guildies would be a good one, making sure everyone represents the guild, as you will earn influence for the run.

I haven’t had to pug more than 1 “random” member, except on one occasion when I did a PuG group… which I left rather quickly as soon as I saw it about to fall about. It’s not worth the repair bills. Just be courtesy when you get out of dodge

thank you for the reply.

surprisingly on the internet i tend to get very innocent with people in dungeons. (mostly with the randoms i guess i should know better by now)
but i usually do a whole hour of calling up on guild members because that’s something we normally do is run regular runs in Orr, CoF, TA explo on daily basis and do it as a guild mostly. most of the guild members don’t bother show up if its a randoms party and you can see why.

ill remember the contact list i know look back on all the great parties i had in TA forward path’s not dying once and sigh at the fact i could have added them to contacts. Can you make some sort of “folders” in contact list?

alright, this is just i guess a kind of “attention seeking, ranting post, trying to find someone to relate, pity, need help” post.
lately when i do a dungeon run with or without my guild mates and have to pare up sometimes with randoms or go into a “randoms” party – I feel like i am harvesting up Game Rage. And since League of Legends (which i stopped playing before Guild Wars 2 because it caused me Game Rage) i haven’t had Game Rage but its not the map or the whats happening.
Its mostly either the players lack of communication or the party members don’t keep a flying you know what about what you ask. whether its your request not to skip a point or to use a specific tactic\sync skills with other party member who is same class as you.
And its that lack that makes me sometimes throw myself from the fun feeling i get from Guild Wars 2 and put myself in a place where i say “why are there people like this on Buy to Play games?”.
I feel like i just don’t want to go do dungeon runs because of people like this (which will never happen because dungeons are one of my favorite things in any game).
But it sometimes get to a point where i just feel like i wish i could report people for this things and if you were in my or Guildies position i’m pretty sure you would feel like that was cyber bullying.

In short how do you deal with people in a party who are simply unbearable. does it worth leaving a party in explorer mode or at all because of bad communication or attitude party members?

hope you understood something from this rant, thanks for reading everything.

But… the same could be said for in-store purchases. When you do it in-store, they have physical access to your card, meaning they have the ability to make an exact replica (for the ones with tags in them).

When you give your card out over the internet, it becomes a matter of is your computer safe and are they storing the card in their database. If you do it through PayPal, it just becomes is your computer safe.

When you use your card in-store, it becomes a matter of is this person stealing my information, which is as simple as making a print of the receipt, taking a picture/imprint or simply writing it down/memorizing it.

Sorry OP but you can’t even spell anything close to a 5th grade level. That makes your points easy to brush off.

After we muddle through what we think you saying, we find nothing but mindless rants and " Chicken Little" gloom and doom.

Sorry, SunRain, but if you had a valid point in the post, it was missed by all.

Just putting it out there,
if you can’t give a proper criticism without stating me or another person writes like a 5th grader. (which i am pretty sure i don’t because i don’t use the ur and u writing.) best is to save your comment because its an insult.

in short – population about zero in most maps, almost no overflow anymore &
asking Arena Net to send copies back to retail stores.

A month into the game and you’re seeing the newbie zones less populated? Maybe because the majority of people have leveled out of the newbie zones. Newbie zones are jam packed for the first week, and it slowly tapers off from there.

Human zone is still significantly more populated than other races. My three characters are Charr, and I just remade two of them yesterday and today. I haven’t had any problems finding people to do the events with. It’s not the same as the Charr I rolled two weeks ago, when the newbies were still pouring in. There were 40 people trying to kill the five tar elementals that spawn every 3 minutes. It was insane.

But because I’m capable of logical thought, it makes perfect sense to see fewer people in the newbie zone, since there are fewer new characters being created. Go log into WoW a week before an expansion comes out and count the number of players in newbie zones. You’ll find it’s extremely low; does that mean the server is dead?

i’m level 80, and i was today and past few days mostly in the zones near Orr’s area.

Well they did it. but the price is i see now alot of maps empty completely empty and events dominate you when you solo, it really feels like i am alone on the map from time to time from the lack of response and how fast i end up getting back from overflow or to que in my server.

the population suddenly shrunk and it really is felt for example on my server – Gandara. I love the game but i feel now really alone a lot of times on maps and that i need to wait so long to get people for a dungeon if i cant find people from my Guild.

Merciful Intervention is what you are looking for. The 80s cooldown on that skill is ridiculous though.

i have the skill it doesn’t really have a good benefit to it in my opinion

Idea: Gaurdian trait or special that state an ally in need?

So i thought as the Gaurdian spouse to be the class that protects its allys from danger.

as it states :
“Guardians are devoted fighters who protect their allies and smite their enemies by drawing from the power of their virtues. True guardians are brilliant tacticians and selfless defenders who know when to sacrifice their own defenses to empower their allies to achieve victory.”

so i thought that abilities that assist in protecting an ally’s health or healing him would flash while a nearby ally or party member is in danger. Usually the ally states it like the Sylvari says “i’m fading fast”
but i think it would be really good if those skills if have them on his bar would flash as indication.

Thank Anet for creating the Shelter heal.
and we shall say Ramen. (can i get a Ramen over here!)
but i think its really controversial.
it depends on your play style, i see afew Gaurdians who stand and defend from the back and use healing breeze. Which is a good way because that way a Gaurdian at the front is using shielding in front lune while a Gaurdian protect from the back.

I see how people who solo more rather to get negetive boons off of them as soon as possible because it ruins their celebration. I can relate, but i find myself surviving more with Shelter.

only if there would be an option to toggle it off.
think of a guild leader who doesn’t want to deal with WvW and is more into casual guild. Think theres alot of them there who would rather not get harassed by pings by it otherwise you will see a devision of guilds leaders gettings really upset over random pings.

Mesmer and Great Sword - epic poses but is it good?

in Mesmer

one of the stuff i grown to be addicted to is seeing a Mesmer using a great sword to fight.
I never got to think if it does benefit in any role to use Great Sword with a mesmer, i played with it and didn’t find any points of pros (or cons) for it that worth mentioning except for it having a good way to deal with long range mobs coming at you and a wave attacking you at that moment.

anyone who played with Great Sword Mesmer please give your thoughts
