Still happening for me as well.
When i try to enter explorable mode for any dungeon it just crashes(if the dungeon was opened on a different home server), upon reentering the game with the same character, I get another crash.
Same pattern all day.

Well fortunately about a month ago they implemented an “LFG Tool” that allows you to look for groups for just about anything(personal story, living/open world, fractals/dungeons etc) across all the servers. I personally atleast run 1 fractal everyday using that LFG tool, so I can attest that it works!

Yeah it’s still pretty newbie friendly, just nowhere near as populated as you may remember (lower levels of course). There is the boring ol’ champ farm in Queensdale that people run all day, but I wouldn’t suggest it for leveling(though say mayl tell you otherwise). Idk about straits of devastation anymore, I believe the new thing is the champ zergs in Queensdale and Frostgorge.

Tbh the build looks fine, my only question is: Why take signet might over axe recharge? It seems to be a Power/DS build, with high crit dmg and 100% crit in DS taking axe mastery means there’s no change in damage between staff and axe lifeblasts.

This is how I got to 80, granted it took about 3weeks (80 playtime hours) so it wasn’t fast necessarily just efficient I guess?
Map exploration(probably the slowest part) til around 50% (did every main city and all the lower areas), from then did as much personally story as possible(from the first quest till the lvl60ish quest) having done 50% map completion made completing personal story a breeze, those two put me around lv72. From there I did enough of the living story dungeon to get the elemental mini, then did a little bit of event farming(not champs, but events in general) in Queensdale, then at 79 I leveled cooking(cheapest crafting) from 1-100(which took five minutes) and voila I was 80!
Hope this helps atleast a little, have fun good luck!

This is a hybrid yes, and as Gnome said more tough/vit is good, the main concern is where you plan on using it? Strictly dungeons/pve? With staff/axe you can stay at range and may not need the extra tankiness. Mainly WvW? I too would suggest more survivability based on the odds you’ll be fighting multiple people at a time. I run a similar build 20/30/20/// staff&axe/wh, no wells; but by moving a few traits and utilities my build looks similar to yours.

You can do everything at lv2 that you can do at 80 basically.
Once you hit 80 you have all your traits, access to highest gear, and a few areas become available(Orr,Frostgorge..), besides that you can do wvw, map exploration, living story, pvp, all at lvl2. There’s obvious benefits to being 80; access to every dungeon(most groups won’t take sub80 characters), higher survivability(gear score/trait points) in world pvp. but that doesn’t prevent you from experiencing those aspects of the game beforehand.

What you mean by end game is the question maybe?
You wanna farm for a legendary weapon? That’ll keep you busy ‘endgame’.
You wanna smash heads in some server vs server pvp? As I said you can do it at any level(though some frown upon lowbies in wvw) and there is a huge following of people who do this nightly.
You want to make your character look kitten/evil/happy/sexy….whatever!? Well most of the cooler looking armors take time to acquire(through dungeons) so acquiring all those necessary materials may take some time.

As a fairly new player myself I and having just recently leveled my second character to 80(Necro) I’ll say that Guild Wars 2 is not like other mmos in that you can grind your way to the top by solely killing things. The fastest way to gain xp is by discovering new areas and all the details within them(vistas, skill points, points of interest, etc). Also your personal story gives good chunks of xp after completing certain parts of it. All in all it took me about three weeks real time(80hrs playtime) from char creation to ding lv80.
I got 100% explored/map completion in every major city, every starting, and from there every low lvl area (nothing above my level, 15-25, 25-35, etc.)
That put me around lvl60 with 50%map completion, from there I took advantage of the current living story and went around Kessex hills opening doors and doing the events from that.
That got me to about 69, from there I did my most of the personal story(from personal story lv3 til about lv63) which didn’t take long seeing as I had a lot of the world already explored which meant waypoints for faster traveling.
That put me around 75-76, from there I just did random stuff, tried to champ train(that was no good) ended up helping out this necro in Queensdale named Pestify until I hit level 79. Thats when I bought a few mats from the vendor and a few from the tp to level cooking from 1-100 and….ding 80!

It’s still a condition build IMO you got staff/scepter/dagger and full dire/rabid split (dire for condi/tankiness, rabid for more condi and crits(dhuumfire/barbed precision)).
1800 Armor/1700 condition damage(1200powwr) terror/dhuumfire yap conditionmancer

So On that note, traits look good, utilities look good except you may want to swap locust sig with sig of spite(or corrupt boon as mentioned). The passive on locust is good for getting from place to place besides that it’s only on my bar If I forgot to replace it before combat. Nourishment is good, runes are fine, corruption sigil is good, may want to swap malign for bursting(more condi damage) or the bleed duration one for scepter also geo or hydromancy maybe?

@SweetCream May I ask why you have condi based weapons in your “Soldier Power DeathShroud”?

Uhm the since when is axe/wh the condition weapon? Also staff is utility. If you mean the Carrion/Dire stats on said weapons well, that’s the only ascended prefix I own so the dire staff is kind of a lock for me, as for the Carrion Axe/Wh, yeah you could switch those for something else (soldier,Zerker,Valkyrie, etc.) Carrion is just what I have in game as of right now.

Here are two builds I have created for myself, the three hardest ascended pieces (IMO accessories&backpiece) stay the same for both builds. Then I swap armor, runes, amulet, and rings(at lvl10+ fractals you have a chance at 1 per day as well as it being a
drop I believe so you end up having more than you know what to do with)

Looted Mathidles Weapon Chest so I had no choice (Dire; Cond/vit/tough), like flow said Life Blast is highest with staff or traited axe, so that’s nice for a DS build, the extra condi is nice for that extra bite in a hybrid/power build, as well as a terror/dhuumfire build, and who doesn’t love some extra tankiness(vit/tough). Also Orange/black skin looks necro-ish to me!

8 Month catch-up

in Necromancer

SweetCream.8051

Was wondering if others could provide an update on a few specific questions I have. Its been a while, and my basic research still leads me to a few things I wanted to clarify…(note: I only play WvW, small and large groups)

General
One of the big things that led me to leave was the ‘item creep’ that came with Ascended items. I’ve been told that these are now easier to get and don’t need to do PvE, and I can get them in WvW?

You can get ascended amulets for 250wvw tokens(badges of honor) and 20laurels.
Laurels are acquired through dailys(which can be accomplished in SPVP, wvw, or pve) or monthlys(SPVP,wvw, pve)
The rest of the ascended gear is obtained through laurels(rings, accessories) OR fractals of the mist(which is pve)
As for ascended weapons…I believe some pve is required…not in a position to start trying to craft one so idrk.

People seem to be alluding, through a few threads discussing Weakness, that it was buffed at some point. I couldn’t find info on this. It was pretty terrible when I played, but is it now a strong condition?

I’m not too sure about how it was as I didn’t play 8months ago, but I believe it got buffed to cause 50% of direct damage attacks to cause 50% damage while under the effects or whatever. As for it being strong, yea, maybe underrated by a few, but with almost 100% uptime on weakness(as a necro) you’re taking 50% damage basically.

Necromancer
When I left, I was running a 0/20/30/0/20 Condition Fear/Terror build. It appears that Terror was nerfed somewhat. The trait/style still viable? If so, would I be looking at 30/20/0/0/20?

Again idk about a terror nerf or //20/30//20, but 30/20///20 sounds about right for a terror build.

Dhuumfire- its new to me, and appears to be very common spec. Is it strong in a large scale condition WvW necro?

In large scale wvw I don’t think it makes as big of an impact with all the condi removal flying around, but in 1v1 or small scale yes dhuumfire is borderline op(SPVP duration is reduced from 4 to 2 seconds but it (coupled with terror) is still ridiculous)

Signet of Spite- seemed buffed and common on builds I pull up. Fairly strong now?

Condition Burst or Burst stacking is kind of the meta right now(pvp/small scale wvw) So one click>six conditions on a 60sec cd (48 traited), is nice as long as you land it.

Epidemic- still standard for WvW conditionmancers?

Yes.

Corrupt Boon- still miss often? seems to be nerfed (balanced) to 5 boons. worth slotting?

Can still insta-gib, I take it or Sig of Spite usually

Spectral Wall- buffed, but worth slotting in WvW?

Staff Marks- appeared to be buffed to 180 range untraited. Greater Marks, which I always found to be vital, no longer needed?

In a large scale wvw fight spectral wall might be useful, from my experience in smaller fights people just walk around it. As a necro area control is semi-what you’re aiming for(epidemic, tainted shackles, transfusion, wells) so yes I’m sure in large fights they’re crucial; for smaller fights or builds less focused on such it’s probably not as usefull as putting those 10traits elsewhere

Dire- appears to be a new set of armor, cond/tough/vit. Is this the preferred conditionmancer WvW set? I always preferred Carrion due to the extra power.

Wvw meta- Conditionmancers still hold their own/strong; or rampant condition removal an issue?

Looking at those stats Dire seems to be the condition set yes, if you preferred carrion for the extra power, you may still feel that way, but people who focus solely on conditions yea dire is the thing typically with scavenging runes.

I believe they still hold their own and are desired even in wvw.

SweetCream.8051

It’s an unsolvable issue because Anet has no idea what they are balancing Necro around. And a mechanic like this really can’t be balanced when sometimes you start a fight with zero and other times have a whole second life bar.

Dueling is kind of a joke in this game anyway because the classes are not balanced with any intent at 1v1 balance. At least 2 to 3 professions or at least builds within, are always OP at any one time.

I love to fight people 1v1 just out in WvW, because the randomness of it is part of the charm and challenge. They might have more buffs, less buffs, better gear, worse gear, bloodlust advantage, etc, that is all part of it.

But in dueling people expect to create a fair setting which can’t be done, because the game wasn’t built or balanced to bring that about. And the LF question is one of those reasons why.

Reasonably you should be trying to mimic a real organic game situation though, and in WvW the real game situation is most Necro’s will have full LF if you run into them in the field. Only if you engage one right out of another fight, might they be low.

In sPVP you start with none as per the game mode, and have little time to pre-generate it, so your first fight vs a Necro he is not likely to have much or any to start, which makes more sense for sPVP players to duel without it.

Anets view of the Necro essentially is an attrition class(getting stronger over time, as the battle progresses) through the use/manipulation of conditions. I don’t see how that doesn’t apply to death shroud? When you log on to your necro it starts with 0 LF. As the battle progresses and your conditions stacks get to ticking your minions are bashin away you land hits that suck life force from your opponent(s) then you’re able to go in to this form that (isn’t by itself op but with your 14 other skills should be enough as has its own skill set complete with its own HP bar) is hopefully able to keep the battle in your favor or go down swinging. The fear and the AoE immobilize are instant cast, and as above poster mentioned all the effects that can happen going in to DS(when traited ofcourse (retal, fury, AoE weakness&bleeding, AoE3stack vuln)). So with just 10% LF and ONE CLICK you can inflict conditions and get a guaranteed fear and maybe even the immobilize before that 10% gets ate up.

I feel it’s like a mesmer starting with all of its clones, or a warrior with full adrenaline… if we’re gonna try to compare classes lol.

SweetCream.8051

I’m sure a full condi build may kill things faster with their ability to overwhelm the target with little red squares but I enjoy the twist of being able to apply some conditions(staff rotation + DS rotation) then swap to axe for direct damage that can’t be cleansed. The extra vulnerability is nice, but with target the weak the extra 4%-+10%(given the opponent is probably going to have conditions on them seeing as we’re in this ‘condimeta’) direct damage is what I’m after. I feel my condidamage/condi duration are in decent spots, (bleed ticks for 100/s, burning 300, fear 600, poison 200) to where if they don’t remove those conditions they’ll be hurting, an if they do well that’s more time I have to use ghastly claws/daze, DS, or swap back to staff.
As for including minions, I’ve never been in love with relying on AI to do my bidding, not saying it wouldn’t increase my dps or synergize with what I’m aiming for, I’m basically just uneducated when it comes to using minions efficiently in pvp(save for golems charge)
The thing is as a necro, at first glance people will expect you to be running some sort of condition build unless you have a minion army summoned, then they know what’s coming, but by going hybrid(not fully squishy) I feel you have that element of surprise that the typical scepter/dagger/staff necro won’t have.

If you Duel on a SPvP duel server it is the etiquette to start and show you are at 0.In WvW its fair game.

I feel the point of this thread is to figure out why it’s etiquette? Also people who are dueling in wvw probably say it’s ‘etiquette’ as well I’m assuming. I feel you should start with 0% in a ‘fair, 1v1, no one kitten with us we’re dueling’ scenario no matter how well/poorly your build accumulates LF; but I also feel its ok to line of sight someone/use terrain as well as kite for extend periods to get CDs back which could potentially change a fight. I don’t spend much time in duel servers OR duel in WvW but if I was being ‘fair’ I would start with 0 LF.

So last night logged on and looted http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mathilde's_Weapon_Chest

I plan on mainly roaming with small groups in wvw (5-15tops)

So with that still being the base of why I’ve started this build and after talking to others, reading threads, watching YouTube guides, and testing in SPVP I’ve arrived at this build/gear combination for my current play style.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/external?l=http%3A%2F%2Fgw2skills.net%2Feditor%2F%3FfQAQNBHhZakRLdPbTejePhIV4agesL1CIG94YMmgB-jEDB4iQ4MBkgAk%2BAiABIFqIaslgFRjVJLyKbYqXJVBDwauIa1SBso0I-w

3k attack, 1300 condition damage, 2200 armor, 23k health, 25% crit chance(mainly for dhuumfire but also barbed precision), 80% condition duration(95% bleed)

Currently incapable of testing in WvW, but mainly just looking for input from people other than those I’ve talked to! Thanks in advance for any opinions as your input/critiques are greatly appreciated!

Lol no. Hotly debated means you won’t touch it? Just cause its “old” doesn’t mean it’s no longer viable, it may just need a few changes? Have you even played a Necromancer? If so then you probably have a general idea of what you like/dislike about it? Go from there…then go to wvw to test…if that didn’t work to your liking….rework traits/gear/utilities till you find something you enjoy!

You mentioned well builds, there’s plenty of threads within the top five pages on this forum(requires a little reading) about “WvW Wellmancer”, intothemists.com has a guide section with user submitted guides as well as a decent calc for constructing your own guide/toying with others, then there’s always a quick google/YouTube search.

Excuse the users of the board for not taking the time to do your work or getting as excited about the 500th “wvw build plz” thread. You would rather have unhelpful feedback than 1)doing the research yourself? Taking pride in a build you’ve built/tested yourself. 2) being patient enough for someone to respond? Sounds silly.

State of the Warrior (Discussion)

in Warrior

Posted by: SweetCream.8051

SweetCream.8051

I’ve been playing Warrior since release and – even against my self-interest – I have to admit that the profession is overpowered.

The culprits:

- Unsuspecting foe: This minor trait allows warrior to use defensive traits/armor/amulet, but still deal massive damage. Another poster tried to counter this argument with the Hidden Killer trait from the thief and ironically highlighted all the problems with unsuspecting foe. Hidden Killer is a grand master trait, forcing thieves to go offensive. Unsuspecting foe, however, is a minor trait and offers too much, especially given the amount of stuns from hammer/mace. How many thieves use Hidden Killer? How many warrior use Unsuspecting foe? The popularity or the lack of proves how flawed the comparison of both traits is.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stun
Hammer/Mace+shield has 3 stuns. Hammer F1, Mace F1, Shield 5
The massive damage only comes after one of those three skills.
You’re mad at the rate in which we can use said stuns, not the trait.

Yep(never said I did lv49 fractals btw). Typically I only get 4-5 hours playtime a day, and with all the “time gating”(1laurel a day, 1relic a day=3hours) my broke self can’t afford multiple sets of exotic(or even rare ARMOR let alone rings/trinkets) so with full PVT Karma armor and the rest Zerker it honestly does fairly well for how cheap it was. This way my atrocity of a warrior can grind out mats and gold for whenever I find the time to finally get another 80.

Warhorn provides swiftness which is king for getting around a map and leveling faster also generates a decent amount of life force when there are multiple enemies around. Also the daze is pretty nice for stopping mobs in their tracks.
I too have a lvl20 necro, I haven’t spent any traits I run axe/warhorn, axe/focus with Blood Fiend, Signet of Spite, Epidemic, Blood Is Power. Seems to be going well so far, you should pick up one of each weapon and learn all their skills in order to get a better understanding of how each of them work!

Took what you said into consideration and tbh I like the axe/wh so I’d like to stick with the hybrid variant without full on copy pasta of your build.

30/30/10/0/0
Dhuumfire, target the weak, fear deals damage, traded master of corruption for warhorn recharge and swapped retal on DS for signet might.
Switch Dire axe/wh for zerk, swap scavenge runes for mad king and vit infusions for power
I will be trading traits and utilities around on the fly for different situations.
3k attack with sig of spite equipped, 2300 armor, 23k health, 30% cc with a/wh, 1600 condidamage with staff, 80% condidura with food.

More critiques please!!

So last night logged on and looted http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mathilde's_Weapon_Chest
from 18 gilded strongboxes, and figured its a good time to level up my necro!
I plan on mainly roaming with small groups in wvw (5-15tops), and the occasional dungeon or fractal from time to time.
Did some searching and found this post
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Build-Staff-Corruption
from a few months back…i believe before dire stats were around
so added some dire changes and this is what i got
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQMQNBmODbkRrdPeTdjePBIp46nhUsbtRPOOYjB-j0BB4iAoOROFqIas1gFRjVJjIqWdDz6rIa1SBMp0I-w
(2500 attack(not power), 2500 armor, 25k health, 1900 CD, 24% CC)
I guess I’m here for more info on the WvW Necro, does full condition(Condiduration, fear duration, scepter, dagger) work more efficiently in small groups or is a hybrid even viable? I know in spvp I needed stunbreak like no other, but is that true for wvw as well? Also what sigils are best to use? I’m sure bursting goes on the staff, but what about the axe/wh (force/energy?) Keep in mind my necro is still only lvl 20 so this is deff. just some theorycrafting going on but if there is anyone that can provide some further insight on what their favorite necro spec is for wvw be much appreciated. =D
