My sylvari is frost with patina coloring.
I don’t have the t3 gear yet, but this is basically what she’s wearing. (and the t1 top is freaking shiny)
try ice cream and flowers :O
So the game released without widescreen option so I’ve been playing it windowed on the regular monitor. I could’ve sworn there was a fairly recent update in which they enabled widescreen – so I finally looked and see that 1280×720 is the correct ratio. But every time I try to select this with my widescreen monitor as primary, the game will select the other monitor and then I can’t even access the game window! I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’ve tried moving the window all sorts of times, and changing when I select primary, but GW2 seems to not like my widescreen monitor.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
You’re welcome, congrats on the name!
Oh. I just reflex block them. I don’t play this game to listen to their kitten. Reporting for abuse is probably the smarter option so that they actually get a warning for behavior that is unacceptable.

I am having this problem with t1 gear myself, the gear is shinier than in the preview somehow.
Have you done threaten emote as a female charr? Sounds like a weak kitten.
I think I would’ve been okay with her voice if she sounded more growly.
Akiko’s idea is really interesting but I’m afraid Anet’s intention was to have the player always on the “good” side, that it was a conscious choice while writing the stories. As for your character not being upset – that’s a story writer mistake, been noticing stuff like that happens pretty much throughout all the stories >_> Characters that you’re told are your best friend you never meet again, etc.
All of the race nemeses are depicted as evil murdering scum (and we know nothing about why they do this), but it’s also totally alright to annihilate them too. So in reality, the Nightmare court exists in this form because Anet’s writers couldn’t come up with a good enemy. They’re not there to tempt you, they’re there because we need some reds to kill.
I think the concept of Nightmare court – being free from the Pale Tree and the dream is a good idea, and I would’ve examined it in what I was told was to be MY personal story. In my opinion, Anet did this all wrong. The writers for their weak personal storylines did such a poor job… bleh. That said, the society of Nightmare Court makes no sense with how poorly the underlings are treated, why don’t they……. just leave? Even if the Pale Tree is somehow hypocritically unwilling to welcome them back, why aren’t there more/*any sylvari in the middle grey area, unwilling to follow the dream, but not willing to join Nightmare Court? Writer mistake again.
I think worse than playing through 4v5 games is when your 5th is literally afk with no warning. If you miraculously win your match, they get rewarded for doing nothing. There needs to be a way to kick someone who is doing that – and if reported repeatedly for that offense to get punished.
A way to somewhat solve 4v5s is that someone solo-queuing might get the option to join an existing game that is down a player. It won’t really fix the problems, but at least give a bit of a chance when you get a 5th back.
He wants the icons to look cooler on his character sheet, whether or not it has a visual appearance others can see.
I second it, if only because that would give some few people a reason to hunt accessories for icon look.
No, they will announce if the chests are any different for the holiday.
I opened about 30 during wintersday and no difference in items.
Since the deaths number includes pvp it is sort of pointless if you pvp/wvw.
On my lvl 41 engineer I have apparently 430 deaths, I didn’t bother checking age :P
I think it’s about 4-5minutes, I’ve only noticing it happening when idle, during combat I actually swap in and out a lot. At first I thought this was a feature of all kits but yeah I am noticing it is only doing it with grenades. :/
I have to agree here, the personal story is definitely not the entre (but then one might argue what is?). I see GW2 with a ton of features, and the designers tried really hard in effectively making a decent all-around game, but doesn’t excel in any particular field, and certainly not the story.
You probably used deposit all collectibles, and the tourney tickets are in your pvp locker.
Can the message and also the message to leave/enter real server be small & unobtrusive like in a small icon in the top left, and not a full screen dimming plus box in the middle of the screen.
That’s an amusing bug, which they fixed pretty quick I guess lol
Orissa, how did you get your asura naked ….
There is another thread that confirms asura babies are born like humans, though there is some concern about the size of the head :P
A friend of mine got the game on Christmas, and he got cogs in the mail. But stuffing/glue are pretty expensive now for a new player, so reliably he can only make two minis, not three.
Today, I got the heavy loot bag, 3 giant gifts, 6 flawless snowflakes, armor booster. It appears the loot bag is on the same roll as the karma jugs, shame.
The mini makes those noises and spins. In contrast, the tonic transformation seems to be lacking the animation.
@Toast
I’m pretty sick of your whining. If you spent your time opening chests or grinding gold, or grinding JP/choir bell, or what have you, you’d HAVE YOUR BELL BY NOW. In fact, you’d have many extras and then be “that 1%” you hate so much. I think that you just aren’t playing (or working for that matter), so instead you spend your time whining on forums all day long that you can’t get this one NOVELTY item.
FYI, I am the epitome of casual player. I started Wintersday event with < 2 gold on hand. I found out about this awesome bell, did some research, started gambling on the boxes, as well as farming for more. Is RNG bad or good? So maybe it sucks for the most part, but I don’t care. It is how anet decided to do this, and ultimately, this is the easiest method to make a fair way to get this item.
I opened about 6000 before getting a bell. And another 7000 for a second bell to sell for profit. And then I opened about 20,000 for no bell. Which is fine. I’m not complaining. Buying boxes may be skillless, but that doesn’t concern me. You forget that Wintersday as a holiday event was designed to be less stressful, and you can see this reflected in the (lack of) difficulty in the jumping, the title, the choir bell game, the fact that you have 2 weeks to run the dungeon if you missed the 5 days.
I am pleased that they have made this Wintersday event and how they made it is just fine. It doesn’t need to be perfect, nor does it have to conform to YOUR wishes as if your opinion is so ultimately better than anyone else’s. If you don’t agree with something, don’t play it. Don’t play this game if you are so vehemently against it. Please do us the favor and leave if you hate anet so much.
…and In before you tell me don’t read your post if I don’t like what I read.
To me, the pitch is quite high -which usually coincides with size, given norn females are pretty deep, I feel charr females should be also.
The difference between quite pleased on the male charr, I think the female one doesn’t carry the same gruffness associated with the race.
Wow! I really never noticed this and had to go see for myself. Confirmed they do look different in both appearance and outfits if you are on overflow compared to your own server, but not sure yet if they change on their own server.

There’s this icon in your top left, called ‘black lion trading company’ in which you can check what the value is.
The last time I tested Restorative Mantra, it healed at the end of a charge, thus making it very hard to use for clutch moments. If it was changed to be at the end of an actual cast, then okay it would be useful, but I’d guess the heal number would end up reduced than the 2k I remember.
Considering the daily pvp gives you 1 ticket a day, and then practicing in free tourneys gives you more, why would anyone buy tickets? Maybe you threw away all your ticket-tries by not practicing… duh.
Why on earth do you think you’re entitled to simply ‘practice’ and complain about those who joined the game to gasp actually play the match?
Private server is in the works but hasn’t been implemented yet.
The skills are useless because you are rooted while attacking, have no access to heal/utility, and they don’t last very long. Sure it might be a slight buff in stat/damage in melee range on a target that doesn’t move, but cases where that is beneficial are rare.
Depending on what your class elites are, high chances are they are going to be much more useful and thus the norn elites are never touched.
That screenshot really says it :/ They need to fix this problem!!!!
Sabreene’s story is one that either something looks consistently fishy and automated then they have recourse to complain/ask/report, but I can’t count the number of times someone who happens to be losing will say it mostly because then you’d feel the need to say something back, thus wasting time or inciting anger.
Innocently name-called, you have nothing to worry of course, but it’d still irk me to be called such. In this case, you are the victim, and if that kind of thing continues, best you can do is report for harassment.
The rank 10,20,30,40 vendors are actually by the rabbit vendor – go up the stairs. For some reason they didn’t remove the ‘not yet available’ npcs.
I found my female charr’s voice so awkward and annoying I deleted her and remade her into a male charr >< I feel bad
Sylvari do NOT look at physical appearances for the purpose of attraction, but instead search for those who “inspire” them to claim as their “lover”.
There are two sylvari females in LA that say (when a norn female and male pass by):
citizen1: did you see what she was wearing? (scandalously)
citizen2: no, I was too busy looking at him.
I find this very unnerving, they shouldn’t have been sylvari -_-
“All things have the right to grow”… except the nightmare court.
I’ve always seen nature as neutral, and it bugs me that GW2 Ventari sylvari are much more good than neutral, and not only that, but to actually pick a strong side every time. Yes, I think that some of the nightmare court themes are appealing, and it’d have been nice if you could actually choose your race’s “evil” faction in your story, but alas.
I made my two minis, bought a third from gemstore.
Frames became available on vendor, I made three tonics.
Tixx gives out another set of cogs, I don’t want the other minis, and I’d already spent on the one I did want.
Who cares? It was only 350 gems. That’s less than $5 if you want to complain about real money. I got other stuff from this event too, not the last of which was some enjoyment. If you want to argue that the company tricked me into paying $5+ for it, well I probably got more entertainment out of it than a matinee movie.
No one starved because of this FREEBIE (and if you did, you need to evaluate your priorities), and demanding for what <$5 refund is beyond me. Make another mini for your alt, okay?
This was really amazing, congrats on a masterpiece!
Did anyone see this gingerbread….
Meanwhile his buddies have licorice smiles and no one seems to notice :O
Infinirarium = C = kind of buggy, if it was all fixed I’d upgrade it to B- :P otherwise it was just a hack and slash with no real purpose or skill. The location change attempt was nice, but as I mentioned, buggy.
Toypocalypse = n/a = didn’t play it just yet (maybe never)
Snowball fight = n/a = didn’t play, don’t intend to
Bell Choir = A = this game is pretty awesome, but lagprone, but since you don’t need to be perfect to still get rewards this is totally fine
Jumping = B+ = pretty good difficulty for moderate jumpers, but still has similar problems from clocktower, number of people, the timed aspect, loading issues, floating platforms suck
Gem store = C = I bought none of the wintersday mystery boxes, and don’t intend to with that bullkitten. The winter minis should’ve been available like halloween ones. Toy minis being available if you missed is the only reason I gave a little higher here.
Decorations = A- = would be nice to have skins for all weapon types, but overall decorations in all cities are all great, snowball items, especially the snowball fight npcs
World gifts = C = lame introduction, but the difficulty of these mobs was appropriate (but perhaps make more sense to have to kill one before a gift drops), to prevent people from just opening and running away.
Tonic gambling = F = granted I got super lucky on these, but I still feel for the people gambled for four, then threw them into mystic forge and got…. the 5th. Horrible.
Unbreakable bell gambling = C = terrible choice of ‘reward’ but since it was relatively cheap, this gets a passing score.
Ending Prize for playing = B+ = nice free bag, decent back skin for both pve and pvp, nothing gamebreaking but still useful which is great.
All in all, thanks for the event. Parts of it have been definitely been enjoyable for me, and it was a nice touch to be able to get the title without having to play all games.
Yes, we all know the disaster that is RNG, but for those of you ecstatic after you have finally gotten them… screenshots
Actually, it makes sense that the maps are sufficiently different to warrant different optimized weapon usage, and this applies for the different aspects of the game pve and wvw where longbow is more popular. Foefire is probably the best map for longbow, but the thing is, pvp is a team fight. If you’re a longbow ranger and the enemy is closing distance fast and you have nowhere to go, your team lacks synergy (which is pretty usual in hotjoin).
In any case, longbow still makes for a good opener weapon, and also a situational aoe or knockback scenario.
You have a funny story lol
I would suggest trying blue/purple, pink.
White is probably too contrastive with dark colors, but could be to your taste too.
Don’t consider buying until you’re 60, since I think you can’t use it until then anyway, so it’d just take up space. But even when you reach 80 you don’t need it exactly, depending on what traits you like.
Edit: Sorry, read question incorrectly. They’re right, you can’t skip books, but you can wait on buying them.
(edited by Tsubaki.2508)
You are intended to use it as a skin, not for its godly stats same as the halloween one. If it doesn’t suit you, oh well, remember it is a freebie.
Because my norn says “I am awesome”
RNG at work, the rate is not nerfed.
I got three tonics in five tries.
Given I also opened over 12,000 boxes straight with nothing but more wool junk, I guess that’s where my luck went.
The limited supply stuffing/glue doesn’t have a large steady flow through the boxes, since most people are done with dungeons, it’ll only go up as more people try for tonics until they get fed up.
I don’t mind the fail-chance for the endless tonics, but do think if you threw four into mystic forge it should’ve guaranteed the toymaker tonic. Feel really bad for the people who got the 5th :/
Make an alt to join the other faction to obtain the skin (you’ll need to use transmutation stone which will bind to account). Hope that helps.
