If you want to, sure, but you’ve barely scraped either class. I’d suggest playing the classes far more to decide if you even like them when you have their traits/skills unlocked. Also, you should get used to the mechanics of the “core maps” before you try pushing to expansion content.

Warrior nerf incoming?

in PvP

Posted by: Undo.5091

Undo.5091

To answer the main question in this post… expect a nerf to the grandmaster trait “Might Makes Right”. Hopefully the nerf is only a change to the amount of endurance gained. Something like changing it from 5 to 3 endurance gained per might should be enough. Adding anything like a internal cooldown would just destroy the trait.

I don’t think this will be nerfed prior to the expansion, and at that point you’ll have an actual elite specialization to play.

I’ve had the same issue since around March. For whatever reason, I went from a constant 50-60 ping to 120-150… but with frequent ping spikes ranging from from 400 to 4000. The only way I can actually PvP anymore is to use a VPN. It’s still perfectly fine in PvE maps and the usual WvW skill-lag without the use of a VPN.

Um… can someone, a dev or mod, clarify the minimum space requirements? It says 50 GB. Is that for all the current content?

Right now, GW2 is about 29.4 GB for its GW2.dat file (and I have HoT). I only have about 32 GB of space left on my computer… Do I actually need 50 more GB or is the 50 GB including at least the core game?

That is an excellent question. I’ll check for you.

And the answer is, the 50 GB is for everything, not in addition to what’s already in use. Thanks for asking — it’s worth knowing in case others wonder about it.

Crap… I don’t want to uninstall 50% of my other games. Can’t afford a larger SSD yet.

Unless I’ve misread, she’s saying that you have enough room (assuming you already have the current 30gb of the game installed – core and HoT). The expansion is likely going to be at most bringing the entire game (core with expansions) to 50gb (give or take a few for wiggle room). Still, that leaves you with only ~10gb… so you should still look into getting more storage.

Undo.5091

Engi/thief duo works well in ranked. Thieves rely heavily on their teammates to provide them with rotations, so having an engi player taking side node fights usually provides for an easy +1 from your thief friend. Engi has strong 1v1s across the board aside from a few (mainly revenant and necro), but those few are weak in outnumbered situations, so it really isn’t an issue. This is all assuming that both you and your friend are running either meta or something viable to fulfill the same roles.

A nice change to the trait itself would be to have the invuln go off before the stunbreak and not the other way around. No one likes being stunned during their invuln proc.

If you use cleanses you don’t have that issue. Glasscanons are never good.

Wot.

Edit: I’m talking strictly about hard-CCs, not soft-CC through conditions. If timed correctly, you can CC an engineer as they go into their SRD… so the engineer is stuck in one spot for a good duration of the invuln.

I’d prefer anet focused on issues that affect the majority of players. It has been the emphasis on ESL that has contributed to many of the challenges we have now.

This affects plenty of players. The most obvious example of the issue is Kyhlo. The port spots are back to what they were when the map was revamped… which is terrible for anyone who plays using skills that teleport the user.

FYI – The bug is only when you’re queueing on an elementalist or engineer. If you’re trying to play with two or more people who play these classes, have some of them swap classes when you go to join the queue. Once you get into your match, they can simply swap back. It’s annoying, sure, but you can still queue with whatever classes you want.

So, immune to being bitten, guns, automated weapon turrets, and cars.

Easy pick IMO.

Undo.5091

Yeah, you can say that we should just go play unranked and I agree with that. But saying the current custom arena structure is actually decent for some sort of casual experience is just lying.

When I say casual, I don’t mean new players. I mean players who don’t care much about rules or rewards because they use the platform for things like dueling and trying new builds against something other than dummies.

Custom arenas are a tool that allows players to self-regulate and I would personally like to remove all of the baked custom arenas from the browser. People who own arenas would just turn off auto-balance if they don’t like people abusing spectator team swapping or use the ban feature.

On a similar note, can arena owners have the ability to remove the “Ready Up” mark with the character portraits? For the custom servers that do operate like this, it just gets in the way. Otherwise have it as an option for each individual player to toggle?

2/22/2017 Engineer Changes

Undo.5091

These Flamethrower buffs are actually quite nice. It pushes the FT a bit more into a hybrid kit, which isn’t bad by any means. Flame Blast, which was fairly respectable burst, is now improved by a fair amount from the damage increase, not to mention 9 seconds of extra burning if you can time your blast well. These changes likely aren’t going to increase FT’s use at all, but they will push the numbers up a bit for people who do use it.

I haven’t looked at flamethrower all too much yet in game, but my understanding was that they decreased the direct damage, not increased. That forces it out of the hybrid and towards conditions.

Queue abandoned??

Undo.5091

This happened while I was in a group of four a few nights ago. We attempted to queue unranked about 6 or so times. While I’m not sure if each abandoned queue was due to the game/server, I know the majority of them were. Our entire party would accept the queue-pop only to either have it disappear and throw us all out of the queue 15 seconds later or show us the abandoned message without any of us being given dishonor. A few times it even showed that the four of us (of 10) were the only players who had clicked accept on the queue-pop.

We eventually gave up and split into two groups (of two players each party). We immediately got thrown into a match against each other.

Soooo… an issue with larger parties entering unranked?

Thief and Mesmer only gain a slender mobility advantage on the map.
Sorry, I had to because it’s an awesome play.
———————-
In all seriousness, I’m fine with the mobility they have. It’s the appeal of both classes in SPvP. Besides, Mesmer mobility is more of a utility in most cases than compared to what thief can make of these maps. I also don’t care that ranged classes have it easier on clock tower now.

What I do care about is how simple the map has become just with the buildings that were changed. If any change was necessary to the buildings, they should have changed the graphic of the rooftops (to the side buildings -“jumping puzzle buildings”) to be something that wasn’t straw, so players could easily see the edges and not smack their heads on nearby platforms while attempting parkour. (https://youtu.be/DIPf9MaDrBQ?t=2m56s)

The one change that I’m okay with, assuming it actually works this way now, is the inability for players to hit the buildings near mid. It would allow multiple classes to gain additional procs during fights to provide boons/leeching/life force.

Hm, to offset the nerf, we should probably buff one of the profession’s other skills. Maybe we should give Signet of the Wild an unblockable buff. That would help with a good few matchups.

In a match, keeping 10+ stacks of might on the current meta engineer build in SPvP is incredibly easy. You can reach that much with your hammer auto-attack (the might from the auto-attack also stacks per target, not per use – one auto chain will net 8 might if you cleave 2 targets rather than 1), not to mention HGH and elixer gun. As for losing on-crit conditions, this doesn’t really matter as you’re running a power setup. (Closest thing to the meta build is below.)

Function gyro itself comes with scrapper as a minor trait. The stability it has does not. That comes from the GM trait Final Salvo. Without it, function gyro becomes completely unreliable since it tends to blow up before finishing a stomp if it gets interrupted.

If you want counter play to function gyro, it’s pretty simple. Cleave. The gyro has ~10k HP. The only situation function gyro shines in (as a stomp mechanic) is really in a 2v2. Any more players and the gyro is destroyed instantly. Honestly, it’s far from a guaranteed stomp and is often better off saved for rezzing players.

Yeah it did against vulnerable foes. Now that axe got a 10% buff, life blast with axe+unholy fervor should be doing more damage than life blast with staff. Haven’t tested it though, so.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t one-handed weapons do only 50% of the damage of a two-handed one when equipped in DS ?

I’m going by the fact that one-handed weapons only have half the stats of a two-handed one, of course.

Not half of the damage, but two-handed weapons (staff) do deal more in DS. I’m pretty sure this is just due to the difference in weapon damage between the two-handed and one-handed weapons. The difference isn’t huge, but it is more than noticeable.

Healing Turret... Bug?

in Engineer

Posted by: Undo.5091

Undo.5091

Ever since the June balance patch, I have had issues when using Healing Turret in combat. From time-to-time my Healing Turret cast seems to be getting interrupted from simply taking damage during the initial heal. Unfortunately, I haven’t really tested this out, but I wanted to post this more as a question. Do any other players feel like their Healing Turret casts are being interrupted without actually being CC’d?

I do want to note a few things first:
-This has occurred both with and without the reactive lenses trait.
-I do not believe that I have been interrupting my own heal (since I’m usually trying to get the Cleansing Burst to go off as well)
-When this occurs, only my Healing Turret is on the “interrupted cooldown” (~3 seconds).

Healing Turret has usually been a difficult skill to interrupt, which is why I have been a bit skeptical over if it is working properly (and reliably).

I got another theory:

That t-shirt is totally unrelated to guild wars.

Its just a polo shirt with a polo player on it.

I’m sorry, but I will have to shoot this theory down. Everything within a Guild Wars stream is intended to be relative to the Guild Wars universe, so the shirt is no exception. For example, Roy Cronacher (Game Mount Designer) shares his first name with Roy Campbell (a character within the Metal Gear Solid series). The voice actor for Roy Campbell is Paul Eiding, who is also the voice actor for Warmaster Forgal Kernsson within Guild Wars 2. There is also an entire accessory type as well as a dye based off of the commonly used and completely understandable improper spelling of Rubi’s name (Ruby).

I would also like to point out that if this weren’t related to Guild Wars and was, in fact, just a shirt with a polo player on it… then I believe ArenaNet should become a clothing design company. Guild Wars is a fantastic universe and game, but these shirts could easily make a fortune. I could easily see myself using this as both casual or golf-style wear.

So, I’m sure many of you watched the Ventari specialization stream today. I’m going to avoid talking about the actual focus of the stream in this topic because there were many teasers that seemed to have gone unnoticed by viewers. One of the biggest teasers, in my opinion, was the one that was right in front of our very eyes throughout the entire stream.

If you look at the image attached, you will see a close-up of Roy. His shirt IS the teaser. This comfortable looking Guild Wars themed shirt appears to have one image on the corner. For greater viewability…view-ability….more… easy to see, I have enhanced this image and flipped the color scheme. It would appear to be an engineer riding a horse mount. Why engineer? Well, my guess is because they wanted to show off parts of the new specialization, and what better way than by including the engineer class’ new weapon!?

Also, while I unfortunately could not snap a picture in time for it… during the stream, they introduced several player theories on screen. One of them dealt with Ventari mounts. At this time, Rubi and Roy laughed it off, but Rubi’s eyes fell upon the emblem on Roy’s snazzy GW shirt. One can only assume that this was her way of telling the player-base that we were not far off in our guesses.

Anyways, this clearly confirms the introduction of mounts for the Heart of Thorns expansion. If you have any comments, concerns, or other confirmations you would like to share, feel free to in this topic.

I also want to mention that I have speculation to believe these shirts will also be released around the same time as the expansion. Hopefully, we will be able to purchase a special edition in order to get one of these shirts as either a physical or digital item.

Ever since the big patch, I’ve been having odd spikes in my game. I will be standing still and looking into an open field with ~120 FPS (low settings), have a single mob or skill be cast somewhere in my view, and watch my FPS plummet from 120 to 40 to 15 and immediately hop back to 100+. This happens no matter what settings I am using in game (High/Med/Low). I have never had this issue with the game until the last patch, nor do I currently have this issue with any other game.

Soo.. the main point to this post.. Is this the same issue that everyone else is having? Whether or not it is… does anyone have a solution that could help me out? Thanks!!
