Confused about why the practical target patch time is moving with daylight savings. Would’ve expected 4:30 pm PST before DST and 4:30 pm PDT after DST. Is everybody going to stay at work an hour later after DST?

There was at some point a “Specialization Achievement Repair” NPC in Heart of the Mists you could talk to to get this fixed. Take a look there first.

I think the NPC may have been removed though. Based on this Reddit thread, if you send in a Support Ticket, they’ll fix it for you.

Actually just caught that. I’m hoping thats a typo and that he meant cast time. Don’t know what “cast damage” is :P

Not a typo. The skill does direct damage when you cast it. That damage got reduced by 66%.

Instanced guild mission cooperation credit

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Veron.8645

Veron.8645

In today’s blog post:

Instanced Missions

All guild challenges and puzzles are now instanced missions.

However, if you want to participate in guild challenges and puzzles with friends and other guilds, you can still ferry players into the puzzles and challenges.

Say Guild A and Guild B want to cooperate to do an instanced guild mission together. If Guild A and Guild B both have an instanced mission active and join together into Guild A’s instance via squad ferry, will both guilds get credit for completing the mission, or will they need to do it a second time for Guild B to get credit?

It’s unfortunate that a lot of people did not know about or had forgotten about Priest Graidy when they took the poll. I hope that if the poll ends up being close, there will be a runoff to give the people who were reminded about Priest Graidy after they had already voted to make a more informed decision.

This isn’t about Ellyna, this is about her father. Just because her loss has led her to hateful feelings does not diminish the heroism and selflessness of her father.

As a a completely separate thought, I think reminding her about her father’s tolerance and love for other people through the naming of the lighthouse is the best way to help her heal and get away from the hatred.

Ellyna went through a tragic time, and it’s very unfortunate and saddening that her loss has led to hate and racism. I think that makes it even more important that we make a positive gesture to honor her father’s selfless sacrifice to save lives. We want the memory of him to be associated with love and life, not with hate and blame.

Honoring Priest Graidy, a true hero

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Veron.8645

Veron.8645

In today’s Lion’s Arch naming poll, one of the proposed names for the rebuilt lighthouse is Graidy Lighthouse.

Priest Graidy was a kind and generous man and beloved father who believed in the strength of the people in Lion’s Arch to overcome adversity. He had strong faith in the Six Gods, but he respected the religious freedom of others. After the historic lighthouse was destroyed in the Karka attack, he stood nearby and offered visiting players swiftness boons.

Priest Graidy: Six watch over you, my friend. Have you come to see the last, battered remnant of Old Lion’s Arch?
Priest Graidy: Disaster and attack may have raised [sic] it to its ancient foundations, but we’ll always maintain this treasured monument.
Priest Graidy: The Six have preserved the foundation as a gift to all who walk the face of Tyria, regardless of their beliefs. In the name of the Six, I bless you with the swiftness of the gods.
Priest Graidy: Such is the awe-inspiring power of the six gods. Take their blessing to hasten to your next destination."

During Scarlet’s attack on Lion’s Arch, he sent his daughter with the other lighthouse workers away to safety, while he himself stayed at the newly rebuilt lighthouse in order to warn approaching ships away from the devastation and violence happening in the city.

Ellyna Graidy: Dad. Forget the lighthouse! We need to get out of the city.
Priest Graidy: Not yet, honey. Approaching vessels need to be warned off.
Ellyna Graidy: Dad…
Priest Graidy: Just go. I’ll be right behind you. Until then, may Dwayna keep you in her arms.
Priest Graidy: I love you, bunny.
Ellyna Graidy: I love you, bear.
Ellyna Graidy: All right. Get me out of the city, and then come back for my father.

Because of his selfless act to prevent the battle from claiming more lives, he did not reach safety himself and made the ultimate sacrifice.

Ellyna Graidy: I still think I’m going to see my bear, but then it strikes me that he’s gone.
Ellyna Graidy: When Scarlet attacked the city, my father stayed behind and used the lighthouse to warn ships to stay away. He sent me away, for my own safety.
Ellyna Graidy: My father used to tell me stories about a bear and a bunny having adventures. Since then he’s been my bear, and I was his…Oh, why did he have to die?

Priest Graidy was a true hero of Lion’s Arch, a kind and gentle father who had the courage and heart to put himself in danger and save lives during terrifying attack on his beloved city. I think it would be appropriate for his life, his values, and his sacrifice to be memorialized in the naming of the lighthouse, a building whose purpose is to keep sailors safe and the place where he made his last stand.

"DragonHunter" name feedback [merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Veron.8645

Veron.8645

The guardian’s new elite specialization dragonhunter was announced today, and it’s pretty clear that many people are not too keen on the choice of name. Some of the principle reasons are that it seems very disconnected from the guardian’s “holy knight” core theme and that lorewise, dragonhunter generically describes basically all playable characters and most of the NPCs involved in the primary storylines.

I came up with the idea of the Arbiter and that seemed to get a very positive response.

arbiter (noun) — a person empowered to decide matters at issue; judge; umpire. OR a person who has the sole or absolute power of judging or determining. (Dictionary.com)

The meaning of this name naturally complements the guardian’s divine justice and judgment motif, given Virtue of Justice (now Spear of Justice) and all of the skills with the word “judgment”. Even the flavor quote in the video: “I must be as relentless as justice itself.” lends itself better to “arbiter”. Plus, “arbiter” has that more aggressive, active tone than the defensive “guardian”, which “dragonhunter” seemed to be going for. It is consistent with the idea that the specialization will be choosing which enemies will be receiving massive ferocious attacks at range or which allies will get support.

It’s a name used in Halo and the Cones of Dunshire, but it’s still uncommon enough to feel unique.

I’d like to give a shoutout to a friend that I played with back at launch who used the account name “The Arbiter”. Seeing that in my friends list over the years has kept the word in the back of my mind. He doesn’t play anymore, but maybe having a specialization named after his account name would get him back into the game.

Also, thanks to everyone on /r/guildwars2 for the positive feedback. And shoutout to all of the folks who spent a lot of time today putting their creative efforts into coming up with other names. Some of the other ones I liked include: Templar, Crusader, Seeker.

Ready Up this Friday: Stronghold

in PvP

Posted by: Veron.8645

Veron.8645

I absolutely think this needs to be reconsidered.

Josh and Hugh spent like 5 minutes talking about how builds that were totally useless in Conquest were now getting some use in Stronghold (e.g. permastealth thief).

That is exactly the reason why these need to be separate queues. Given that we aren’t supposed to change to other professions after queuing, and that one minute isn’t really much time to change builds before a match starts (build templates please), we’re mostly stuck with the profession and build we queue with. Effective builds between Conquest and Stronghold can be totally different.

We already see this in unranked with Courtyard. A lot of effective Conquest builds suck in Team Deathmatch, and this is why a lot of people are upset about Courtyard.

The patch notes say:

The tool tips say:

Affected by magic find

We know that at a given time, your effective magic find is a sum of your account magic find (from luck, AP rewards) and your character magic find (from infusion, food, utility, banners, guild buff, bonfire, Silverwastes, etc.). [wiki if you need it]

So the question is: does your character magic find also affect the Lucky Envelopes (so it’s all magic find) or is it only the account magic find?

How is reward track progress calculated?

in PvP

Posted by: Veron.8645

Veron.8645

So no matter if I win or lose (in practice matches), my reward track progresses at the same rate?

Cause here I am thinking I need to do anything I can for wins (the 500 points, rather than the 200 I get if I lose) so I get more reward track progress.

Not sure I really understand what it all means.

It’s not that wins and losses don’t matter, it’s just that they aren’t going to directly correspond to the 500/200 rank points you get. For example, maybe you get 1/2 or 2/3 the progress for losing a hot join compared to winning. You’re still getting less progress for losing, just not at a ratio of 500:200.

(Note the 1/2 and 2/3 I just made up as an example. So far, we don’t have any documented player resting with hot join losses and reward track progress. Hopefully I or someone else will get this figured out in the next few days. Keep an eye on the wiki page — I’ve been updating it.)

PvP reward track not giving correct progress

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Veron.8645

Veron.8645

In the process of figuring out the true amount of rank points per reward tier of PvP reward tracks (as posted on Reddit), I discovered that reward track progress is not consistently awarded. Using screenshots of reward track progress on empty tracks and measuring pixels, I analyzed the amount of progress actually earned towards reward tracks. In all three of these cases, the actual rank progress did in fact match the rank points advertised.

Hot join – 535 points

  • 107 px/120 px = 89%

Unranked loss – 500 points

  • 78 px/113 px = 69%

Unranked win – 1505 points

  • 157 px/113 px = 139%

Clearly something is wrong. The progress from the hot join case should only be slightly ahead of the unranked loss case, but is actually significantly ahead. The unranked win case should be triple the progress of the unranked loss but is actually double.

Guesses to numbers in units of actual rank points (based on assumptions to which case if any are working properly) can be found in my Reddit post but are ultimately irrelevant.

(The reason pixel resolutions are different between the first and the latter two cases is because I did the first on Windows client and second on Mac client, both in windowed mode with different sizes.)

EDIT: Here are some new ones for one PvP reward potion, and two PvP reward potions.

One PvP reward potion

  • 56 px/113 px = ~50%

Two PvP reward potions

  • 113/113 px = 100%

So on the progress bar, one potion is exactly 50% (to the nearest pixel), and two potions is exactly one tier and pops a chest. This both behaves and is visually indicated as expected. Unless people are claiming that somehow potion progress and match progress are not being consistently displayed on exactly the same interface, you can’t blame it on rounding or display problems.

LF small/medium pvx guild on JQ

in Looking for...

Posted by: Veron.8645

Veron.8645

Hi there Archon,

If you’re still looking for a guild, Vintage Gaming [VG] on Jade Quarry might be a good fit for you. We’re a medium-sized (~250 members, ~40 online at peak evening times) guild with most of our members based throughout North America. We are PvX, though more of an emphasis on the PvE side of the mix.

We have a diverse membership in the guild, from newer and more casual players to veteran and NA top 1000 achievement hunters, from college age players through older professionals, a good mix of genders and many LGBT players. We place a big emphasis in having a fun, inclusive, and safe guild community.

Most of our members spend most of their time doing PvE content: dungeons, fractals, world bosses, new Living World content, etc. We have a lot of very experienced players at these areas, and we are happy to teach anybody who is newer. Our guild is also a big part of the daily Jade Quarry Tequatl kill (jqteq.org).

We don’t do much guild-level organized stuff in sPvP or WvW, but we have a lot of people interested in those areas that will do them as individuals or in small groups. Especially with the recent changes to PvP, we’ve been a lot more active there.

We run guild missions twice a week, on Saturday and Wednesday evenings. Our guild currently uses Mumble for voice comms, but we are in the process of looking to switch to TeamSpeak 3. We also do fun guild activities every few weeks, like hide and seek and lawndarts.

We don’t have any significant expectations of anybody — you can interact with everyone else to whatever degree you are comfortable with. All we ask is that you follow Rule #1: Don’t be a kitten, and that you honor our 50% rep policy (so it’s okay to have other special-interest guilds, e.g. WvW).

I’ll follow-up with you with an in-game mail, but feel free to contact me as well. If you are welcome to give us a try, and no hard feelings if you decide we’re not for you.

LF Adult Experienced Guild (JQ)

in Looking for...

Posted by: Veron.8645

Veron.8645

Hi there,

You might be interested in Vintage Gaming [VG] on Jade Quarry. We’re a medium-sized (~250 members) PvX guild, with a primary emphasis on PvE. Here are some point-by-point details:

  • Adult – Our guild is mostly mature, adult players — mid-20s or older. We are not, however, an exclusively adult guild. We do have some college-age members, and a handful who are younger than that. We place a lot of importance on having an inclusive and safe guild community. We do not tolerate any disrespect or drama. Like you, we all play this game to have fun.
  • Experienced – Our guild has many very experienced players. We have many GW1 vets, many people who have been playing since launch, a dozen people in the NA Top 1000 for AP, people who do 49 or 50 fractals on a regular basis, you get the idea. Once again, however, we are not exclusively a guild for veteran players. We have many folks who are casual, fairly new, or even brand new, and everything in between.
  • Active – We have sizable core of active players in the guild. We usually see ~30 players online throughout most of the day (NA), with 40-50 players online during NA evening hours.
  • Longhaul – While any guild inevitably has people who come and go, we have a strong core group who has been with the guild for a long time. I’ve personally been in the guild just short of two years. We also tend to attract back a lot of the members who stopped playing GW2 but decided to start playing again.
  • Activities – We do a fair amount of player-driven fun activities. A sample of a few of our activities in October for Halloween: zombie hide and seek, death race through the Labyrinth, a costume contest.
  • Voice comms – We currently use Mumble for voice comms. Not everyone chooses to use it, but we get a pretty decent number of people on it each day, primarily during NA evening hours.
  • Dungeons – We do a lot of dungeons and fractals every day. Lots of groups forming in guild chat.
  • Women in the guild – We have a strong representation by women in the guild. One of our guild leaders is female, and a third of our officers are female.

A few additional things: we are a fairly casual guild with a wide spectrum of player types. As a guild, we don’t really have any expectations from anybody, except to be respectful of others. We do guild missions twice a week on Saturday and Wednesday evenings. Our guild is also a staple of Jade Quarry’s daily Tequatl kill. For WvW and sPvP, we have many people who are interested and will do them individually or in small groups. We have a 50% rep policy, so some of our members take advantage of that to join special interest guilds like WvW or world boss guilds.

You’re welcome to give us a try. No hard feelings if you decide we’re not for you. I’ll follow-up with you tonight in-game.

[Suggestion] Currencies & The Wallet

Currencies go in wallet.

Crafting materials go in material storage.

Just do not make any dual-function items that are both a currency and a crafting material. If you want to introduce both a currency and a crafting material in the same release, add a vendor that can convert your currency to the crafting material. If there already exists an item that is both a currency and a crafting material, make it a currency and change all existing recipes to use a new crafting material that you need to get from a vendor using that currency.

Hey there GigaClon,

Vintage Gaming [VG] on Jade Quarry might be a good fit for you. We’re a medium-sized (~250) PvX guild, with a primary emphasis on PvE.

Our guildies run the whole spectrum, from casual or new to experienced to NA top 1000 achievement hunters. Everyone plays the game to have fun, and we focus on providing a friendly, relaxed, and safe community to our members.

People in the guild regularly group up to do dungeons and fractals of all levels. We have many veteran players who can do speed runs or high level fractals, but we also have many members who are still learning the ropes. Our guild is also a staple of Jade Quarry’s daily evening Tequatl kill. We run guild missions twice a week, on Saturday and Wednesday evenings.

For WvW and sPvP, we have a fair amount of individual interest in those areas. Many members will do those individually or in small groups, but we don’t do too much there as a guild in an organized way.

We also frequently do fun guild activities. Recently for Halloween, our games included a costume contest, zombie hide and seek, and a death race through the Mad King’s Labyrinth.

Our guild currently uses Mumble for voice comms. We have a 50% rep policy.

Hi Moxitus,

It sounds like Vintage Gaming [VG] on Jade Quarry might be a good fit for you. We’re a medium-sized (~250 members, ~40 online throughout the day) PvX guild with an emphasis on PvE. We’re a pretty wide spectrum of players, from casual to NA top 1000 achievement hunters, but we all play the game to have a good time.

Our guildies form dungeon and fractal groups very frequently. We’ve got a sizable number of very experienced dungeon/fractal runners, and regularly do fractals through level 50. We’re also a major part of Jade Quarry’s daily Tequatl kill, if you’re interested in world bosses.

As for WvW, right now we have many people who are individually interested in it and will head in on their own, but no particular guild effort. However, we are considering trying to organize a more guild-level WvW effort for Season 3 to support JQ.

We also have several people who sPvP individually, and we get teams forming up for team queues once in a while when people are interested.

Regarding guild missions, we run them twice a week on Saturday and Wednesday evenings.

We highly value maintaining a fun and safe atmosphere for everyone. We frequently do goofy guild events as well, like hide and seek and trivia contests. If falling off a high place and trying to land your corpse on a small target sounds like fun to you, then you’ll enjoy some of the things we have planned through Halloween. Good puns are also especially welcome!

I’ll follow-up with you in-game, but also feel free to contact me.

Please No Profession Loot

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Veron.8645

Veron.8645

Why I think profession loot should not affect level 80s. Wall of text warning.

tl;dr – Profession loot has negligible benefit for level 80s but results in fundamental reward inequality. Choice of which class to play should be based purely on class mechanics and not on economic reward.

Negligible to no benefit at level 80

The main reason to have profession loot is for the player to get relevant gear to their class as drops. However, once you are firmly at level 80, you don’t really need more gear. Dungeon exotics, crafted exotics, temple exotics, and WvW exotics are all very accessible to anybody who needs to gear their 80. Furthermore, ascended gear and legendaries are typically the ultimate goal for most players. Once a player has exotic or ascended or legendary gear, they don’t need to get more, much less the inferior quality loot drops that one would actually get. So profession loot does not have any real benefit for someone trying to gear an 80.

Fundamental reward inequality

First off: let’s face it, different kinds of gear are going to be worth different amounts on the trading post. No matter how supply and demand shift, we’re not going to see a perfectly homogenized set of prices.

Any appreciable effect from profession loot therefore results in unequal loot. If I kill 100 risen thralls on Class A and I kill 100 risen thralls on Class B, profession loot will give me on average different types of drops, which will be worth different amounts.

This is counter to a core design philosophy: play what you want. Under the profession loot system, each class will be getting rewards of different value. This means that economic reward becomes a factor in choosing which class to play. The only factor in choosing which class to play should be class mechanics. Mechanics — weapon sets, skills, F1-4 mechanics, etc. — should be the only thing that differentiates the different classes. Intentional introduction of reward inequality violates this philosophy.

If you don’t agree with Class A getting 1g26s at the end of AC and Class B getting 1g36s at the end of AC, then you shouldn’t agree with profession loot at level 80 either.

What if the changes are subtle and barely noticeable, like some dev comments so far suggest? If you have to kill 1000 risen thralls on average to get that one extra piece of loot that is profession relevant, then what is the point? There is zero benefit at all towards gearing characters, and it still introduces a small reward disparity. Just eliminate profession loot for level 80s and then there won’t be any problems.

Please No Profession Loot

If the weighting of this system is going to scale with level, then it should scale to zero (no weight) at level 80. There should not be any disparity in loot for max level characters.

Profession Loot: affects level 80 or no?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Can we please get a response to this question? It’s been a day, and as the “No Profession Loot” thread shows, this is a controversial issue. This clarification is a pretty simple yes or no question about how this new system is actually programmed. If a dev sees this thread, can you please ask someone who would know the answer to take two minutes and respond?

Profession loot was one of the features announced today. There are a lot of concerns by a lot of people, but they hinge on a central question that was very vague in the blog post:

Does the new “Profession Loot” system affect level 80 characters, or only sub-80 characters?

If we can get a red post to clarify, I think either this debate can be largely settled, or we will have something more concrete to discuss.

Please, if even a dev who doesn’t know the answer sees this, can you pass on a message to someone who can just take 2 minutes and answer a simple yes or no question?

Hi there rpfohr,

I’m with the JQ guild Vintage Gaming [VG]. We’re a medium-sized (200+ members) PvX guild that has an emphasis on PvE (dungeons, fractals, living story, world bosses, Tequatl, etc). I think it we may be a good fit for what you’re looking for. We do guild missions twice a week: Saturday and Wednesday evenings.

We have a 50% rep policy for people like you who have other specialized interests (e.g. WvW guild), but we do emphasize a friendly, respectful, and close-knit guild community. If you think you’ll do a fair amount of PvEing and get to know people, then I think our guild will have a lot to offer you. Our guild has a diverse range of players from casual to NA top 1000 achievement hunters, but we are fairly relaxed and play the game for fun and to have a good time.

You’re welcome to give us a try, and no hard feelings if it doesn’t work out. Feel free to contact me in-game with any questions.

[NA] Returning player looking for a guild

Veron.8645

Hi there Mikoto,

You might be interested in Vintage Gaming [VG] on Jade Quarry. We’re a medium-sized (~200 members, with ~40 online at peak North America hours) PvX guild.

Our primary emphasis is on PvE: dungeons, fractals, world bosses, new living story content, guild missions etc. We regularly have groups forming to do dungeons and fractals of all levels. If you want to learn anything new, we have many experienced dungeon runners who are happy to teach. Our guild has a large showing each day at Jade Quarry’s daily reset Tequatl kill. We run guild missions twice a week on Saturday and Wednesday evenings.

On the sPvP and WvW front, it’s something that’s more on an individual’s interest level. We have people who will sPvP and WvW individually or as small groups frequently, but we don’t usually do anything organized as a guild.

You’ll find that our members are a very friendly and accepting group. We have a wide range of player types, from brand new and casual to NA top 1000 achievement chasers. Everyone in the guild plays the game to have fun though, and you’ll see a lot of joking around in guild chat and in our Mumble server. Puns encouraged!

Feel free to give us a try, and no hard feelings if you decide we’re not a good fit. I’ll follow up with you with an in-game mail.

Looking for PVE guild [NA][JQ]

Veron.8645

Hi there Hockmed,

You might be interested in Vintage Gaming [VG] on Jade Quarry. We’re a medium-sized (~200 strong) PvX guild. Our main focus is on PvE, including dungeons, fractals, world bosses, and living world content, though many of our members enjoy WvW and sPvP as well and will often do those individually or in small groups.

Our members are a fairly wide range of players, from new and casual players to very experienced veterans to NA top 1000 achievement hunters. Overall though, we have a very relaxed and friendly community and everyone plays to have fun.

To comment a bit more about your dungeon points: we frequently have people in guild chat looking to form groups for dungeons and fractals of all levels. We’re not speedrunners, and so there’s no expectation for you to be optimal or for you to even be experienced (we’re happy to teach if you let us know you’re new). That said, it’s only fair after all that you should for the most part be pulling your own weight. The dungeon meta does exist for a reason — it’s the most effective way to get through a dungeon quickly and painlessly. It’s fine if you don’t want to do exactly the meta, but as a general comment, make sure you’re not doing something to make it significantly more difficult for the other people on your run if they’re expecting a normal run. That said, if you want to learn about standard dungeon mechanics or want help gearing your characters, people in our guild will be happy to help. Most of what makes a smooth dungeon run is familiarity with mechanics and tactics anyways.

As for some other things about the guild: we do guild missions twice weekly, we have a strong presence at Jade Quarry’s daily reset Tequatl kills, and we strongly encourage making puns in guild chat and on our Mumble.

I’ll follow-up with you in-game with a mail. No hard feelings if you decide we’re not for you.

Ancient Jungle Wurm Eggs Unblockable!

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Any news on this? I notice that this was not in today’s patch notes. (Though thank heavens for the Tequatl fix.) Can anyone confirm if eggs are still “unblockable” projectiles?

It would help a lot just to have a response on whether or not this is an intentional change. Eggblocking has been a central part of Wurm strategy since the beginning, and knowing what the intention is going forward would help a lot with planning.

If you’re looking for a WvW guild, I would suggest either asking around in map/team chat in WvW, or going to http://jadequarry.com/ where the WvW players tend to be more active, and not here. This is a better place for PvE and PvX guilds.

Dungeon Reward track bugged?

The track unlock for Arah specifically was bugged when the 4/15 feature patch was launched. It wasn’t fixed until two days later in the 4/17 patch. If you didn’t do Arah story after 4/17, you need to do it again to properly unlock.

Tequatl The Invisible

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Veron.8645

Veron.8645

I’m a bit frustrated by this thread and the response to it. This has been a bug for some 3-4 months. It is certainly triggered when an overburn occurs, i.e. Tequatl is damaged past the next 25% threshold before burn phase ends. This is something that anyone who does Tequatl regularly has known about for a very long time. It is very easily reproducible, and I am absolutely certain that devs have known about it this whole time. (Not to name names, but I know one specific dev who have spoken to players about it and has attended Tequatl kills. He even asked us in Att about a month back whether or not we were still seeing the bug.)

The only new information about the bug that has been discovered recently is that it is possible to overburn so much that you can break the bug, and make things behave normally. This was reported in a Reddit thread yesterday.

I’m going to call BS on this being an exploit. Any group that is able to trigger this bug is obviously competent enough to complete Tequatl. All this bug does is: (a) make you lose out on rewards, since battery phases get skipped and you won’t be able to get credit for them, and (b) make it harder, since you don’t get the extra DPS from turrets and from double-cleaving during burn.

What’s worse is that the other bug that made the megalaser deal no damage has been fixed as of yesterday’s patch. So now it’s a lot easier to overburn past the next 25% threshold and trigger the invisible bug.

LF guild in JQ

Veron.8645

Hi there Havoc,

It sounds like Vintage Gaming [VG] on Jade Quarry might be for you. We’re a medium-sized guild, about 250 total members and 40-50 online throughout the NA day and evening.

We’re a PvX guild, though with emphasis primarily on PvE. We have groups forming throughout the day to do dungeons, fractals of all levels, Living World content when that’s around, etc. You’ll see plenty of guildies at World Bosses, and our guild has a strong presence at JQ’s NA evening Tequatl kills (still going strong despite megaservers). In fact, our guild hosts the 5pm server JQ kill on Thursdays.

= Plug for JQ Tequatl: even if you don't end up joining [VG], you're certainly welcome to join the JQ group for Tequatl. We've been doing it daily since last September and haven't had a failure since November. We do the 7pm Mon-Wed, and have guild spawned ones at 5pm Thur-Sun (hosted by [VG] and [WPAK]). We usually pick a megaserver and start setting up about 45 to 30 minutes before spawn. You can contact me for a ferry to the correct one. =

Back to [VG]: we run guild missions twice a week, on Saturday and Wednesday evenings.

As for WvW and sPvP, we don’t really have anything organized, but a lot of our members like to do them individually and it’s not uncommon to run into guildies in WvW or in Heart of the Mists. We do have a group or two forming to do team queue pretty regularly.

We have a 50% rep policy, but honestly I don’t think even 100% guilds would really care if you swap to your bank guild for a few minutes to manage your stuff.

In any case, you’re welcome to give us a try, and no hard feelings if you decide we’re not for you. I’ll follow up with a message to you in-game.

Looks like some of the API is broken...

in API Development

Posted by: Veron.8645

Veron.8645

I know this is probably not the right thread, but I really need a fast answer since the API v1 is 1 year old and so are a lot of domain names we bought when creating sites 1 year ago ==> is there any chance that an "api v2" comes out and revives event-api-based sites by using megaservers ? => should I renew my domain name ?

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/api/Events-API-2-0

thanks

Eowyn

If you just use some critical thinking, it’s pretty obvious that the current way megaservers work would not be amenable to event-tracking. How do you know what megaserver shard you’re on? If the API tells you that shard #4 has X event up, how do you reasonably get yourself onto that shard?

Any realistically useful implementation of the API would require nontrivial changes or added features to megaservers, so I highly doubt anything will happen in the near future.

[JQ] LF large/active guild for PvE content

Veron.8645

Hi there Nexus,

Sounds like Vintage Gaming [VG] on Jade Quarry might be a good fit for you. We’re a medium-sized guild, with about 250 total members. We typically have 40-50 people online throughout the North America day and evening.

We’re a PvX guild, primarily with an emphasis on PvE. Throughout the day, you’ll find dungeon groups forming, people doing world bosses, participation in any Living World content when there is some, etc. We also have a strong presence at JQ’s daily Tequatl kills (still going strong despite megaservers) and in fact we will be hosting a 5pm server kill for JQ on Thursdays starting this week.

We also hold guild missions twice a week — Saturday nights and Wednesday nights.

We do have individuals who are interested in and frequently do sPvP and WvW, in case you want to try out those game modes.

It’s no problem if you’re new to any group content you want to try. Our members are very happy to teach if you let them know that you don’t have a lot of experience. We do use Mumble for voice communication (free and open source) which I think will help you get to know the guild community and to make it easier for things to be explained to you.

You’re welcome to give us a try, and no hard feelings if you decide we’re not for you.

I’ll follow up with a message in-game when I get on in a couple of hours.

Hi Dark Night,

You may be interested in Vintage Gaming [VG]. We’re a medium-sized (low 200s total members, ~40-50 members online throughout the day and evening) PvX guild on Jade Quarry.

We do have more focus on PvE content over WvW and sPvP. For the most part, you’ll see our members doing world bosses and dungeons, and we have a substantial, active presence at JQ’s daily Tequatl kills (still going strong despite megaservers). However, on a more individual level, we do have many players who frequently do WvW and sPvP, especially recently with the Season and with new PvP reward tracks.

You’ll find that our guild has a wide range of players, from new and casual folks to veterans to NA top 1000 achievement hunters. We emphasize a fun, welcoming atmosphere, and guild chat gets a lot of friendly banter and jokes. (Puns especially welcome.)

We have a Mumble server for voice, and we run guild missions twice a week. We also have fun guild activities every couple of weeks, such as hide and seek.

You’re welcome to give us a try. No hard feelings if you decide we’re not a good fit. I’ll follow-up with a message in-game in a few hours when I get online.
