Yeah, thanks. Using 2-h hammer probably is a better combo, but its yust that i hoped there would as Woodenpotatoes said “be a more monktype damage melee staff type of thing” so i could show off my scythe skin to at the same time XD

Soo.. what do you guys think about it. Would it be viable to have a staff set available while having the Shiro and i guess the Mallyx legend equipped.

I want to do like a shirt + mallyx and then go for sword+axe – staff set…
but after seeing the staff videos i feel like the staff is really lackluster, doesnt look remotely like it has anything fun to do with.

Anyone knows some special combo’s, tricks that would make staff with in a damage build or is it “healing power or bust :P”

the funny thing is that the damage has’nt changed, i’ve been doing this on my ele for as long as i can remember, it only seems that now people are finally realising how much damage staff eles can do.

teach as you have been taught. in my case i learned most by going through mud and rocks trown by more experienced people…. if other people want to have their hand held all the way, sure. But i still think the way with the most struggle makes the best players with the most dedication.

Perhaps OP should ask why Rangers and Engineers are still going condis over power.

“still” ? the most used builds before the patch were direct dmg rifles and grenades, not conditions .. same with Rangers and using direct dmg shortbows and greatswords kinda

As for condition Rangers, they remain where they were. In WvW it’s still condibunk with Nature’s Voice, in tpvp they got slightly nerfed. But overall pet f2 are better.

Conditions did far from get nerfed, those actually got buffed in general. At necromancers erc. ytou dont notice it that much but at rangers and engineers it seems like for every 1 defensive/bunker stat they lose, they get 5 times the condition dmg back :P

Engi has been OP for months now. Ranger has been able to make unkillable 1v1 tanks for months now. Warrior has been unkillable for months now.

Oh right, they nerfed thief because it was too OP vs those professions (except that all those professions were autowin or stalemate vs thief before, now they are autowin guaranteed).

Even though Thiefs backstabbing for 15k+ dmg kinda was a meh move before, i do have to say that atm you need minimal 2 thiefs to fight 1 guy which is kind of a sad move

So so clueless. They added Zero buffs to any bunker build for the engineer. While the main trait that you personally ranted about in a few post got the life nerfed out of it.

First clue that you do not know what your talking about is when you stay intentionally non specific by making comments such as “recent changes” instead of stating what change is specifically an issue.

Calm down, just saying that even though surely direct damage builds still exsist, condition damage builds atm are way more viable and strong then they actually should be probably… atm it just feels like they simply allowed normal direct dmg and tank builds to be able to have amazing condition dmg at the same time.

Also trying to insult people saying they are clueless and dont know what they are talking about is kinda sad, other people are never wrong, they just have a different opinion then you, so unless you make millions on the stockmarket because you yourself are never wrong, there is no reason to react like that :P

Ok.. we can all agree that condition rangers and engineers needed a slight buff to get in balance with other classes (Got dual pistol engineer myself, love it but it really was hard to master and play effectively without relying to much on rng :P) but in my eyes they really overdid it.
Where as they already used to do decent damage (people just didnt know how to use it well) .. now they do the same decent damage + some amazingly buffed conditions.

Everytime i see a ranger or engineer nowadays its not a matter of what spec he is, hes garanteed condition dmg anyway. They can do a full condition build and still do great normal damage aside from the conditions. I kinda feel some shame whenever i play my condition/tank build engineer.. all you have to do is take a small bit of dmg, apply some conditions and combinations and even though im supposed to be a tank it takes only a few seconds to take someone down in no-time.

This is not a whine post or anything, we will see what counterbuilds come up but just wondering what other people think about the changes towards condition rangers and engineers.

Please no flaming and if you prefer to say “XXX is overpowered” or “XXX is underpowered” .. provide at least a statistic, fact or some numbers to

I have to agree that the communication abut this issue is quite lacking.. when i send in a ticket about perhaps yust allowing people to send in messages and then manually reset the stats or something like that… i yust got back to look at this thread, which holds no information whatsoever

this NEED to be fixed.. this isnt fun anymore.. this surely is one of the reason alot of people leave after transfering servers.

tPvPer LF EU guild (preferably Far Shiverpeaks but transfer possible)

As the title says im looking for an EU guild, preferably set on Far Shiverpeaks but im willing to transfer.
Atm the last guild i was in: EPIC, which is an US guild on Sanctum of Rall, was enforcing some of their goals making WvW mandatory and stuff, nothing i did not see coming, but i yust like spvp more.
That combined with fact that pvp is not that populated atm made me really sad about GW2. I hope a nice pvp guild can change my mind about gw2 and perhaps make me play it again.

Lack of pvp population should be added. Even free tournaments have a massive Q nowadays

Well, that was an disappointment, instead of paid tournaments with 30 minutes of Q.. free tournaments now have an 30 minutes Q and paid tournaments take 4 hours to start :S

The thing is.. will they EVER recover from the huge blows the pvp population is taking atm?

Sure, protection only lasts about maximal 10 seconds if you spam all your defensive moves.. IF your profession even has it. Surely that must be nerfed unto the ground..

what i see is a guy with alot of toughness and little protection giving spells who dies to much and comes to the forums in the hope they will buff his specific build.

I do hope they can make it. But it might already be to late to improve it.

Next time i really hope they leave in such bugs untill they are 100% sure they can fix it..

Tbh, looking at my Thief i have. Arenanet is nerfing everything, except for the things that need to be nerfed. In my opinion they are forcing us in a even smaller niche, making even less builds viable aside from the basilisk/backstab build.

pick up a staff, go for toughness/power build/gear with cantrips.
Pull 10 mobs + bosses

PROFIT

Also, dont forget to use dodge sometimes

Done the whole storyline and 50% of all events (not really a pve person after i did my story) of as elementalist on my own. Never died, bugged out once.
Nothing hard about it

Im an European, my timezone is GMT+1, my playtimes are mostly based around 9am till 2pm.
Now the problem is..

at EU servers around those times, they are empty because everyone is either still in bed, at work or somewhere else
at US server its like very very very early in the morning making the servers still quite deserted.

is there actually a good choice for me? A certain server meeting my playtime in a better way?
I kinda joined Sanctum of Rall (US) due to my guild, but i would like to be online at times where most people are online since i kinda want to join a dedicated group of sPvPers

its really sad kinda.. the only thing holding away backstab thiefs were some bunker builds and those all got nerfed now.
And since they did not really buff anything else at Thiefs and left the basilisk venom backstab glasscannon build alone, they kinda gave Thief a free kill-them-all-card in hot-join

In premade tournaments backstab thiefs kinda work poorly, but thats yust another reason to make thiefs play a different build.. or at least fix thiefs in such a way that a different tactic is viable

i always feel to go full power/toughness and a bit of vitality with Staff builds ignoring everything else
and kinda like going power/toughness with S/D to, but i prefer to change the bit of vitality to change into a bit of precision when using those weapons :P

maybe try for example some gearpieces from AC exp. and combine that with some aggresive jewelry and then maybe go for invader weapon or something
i dont like condition dmg though, neither do i like going alot for healing. Atm those are only good if you fully fully going for those things. But you will be very weak at all other roles… very weak

cant say alot anymore though now that some Ascended pieces are making their way into the game :P

Those spells would have been so much more balanced if they adjusted the spells to the tooltips instead of adjusting the tooltips to the spells. True

Nonetheless i think Evasive Arcana needed to be nerfed. Though as it is atm, its totally useless. At least they might have kept Evasive Arcana causing a blast effect with a general (not attunement based nor being able to proc twice) cooldown of 10 seconds.

And i have no clue Gall, at armor of earth it also used to say the protection and stability lasted 11 seconds and then armor of earth stopped after 8 seconds, removing the boons.

well in my opinion you’re stupid. I’d have a really hard time surviving without my regen, one of the best things I have when it comes to survivability.

Sure, if you can survive better with 150 healing. Must be some weird enemies your fighting like, rabbits etc. would it matter as much as you said.
Its not useless, but its not worth speccing for or focussing on getting either.

also @OP, give it some time. lets see what the next patch does, let people settle in a bit, cause GW2 really does have the requirements to become quite a tactical team pvp game. Atm its not what we want yet and maybe i will be wrong and it will never become one, but i have a feeling they are still changing to much to say alot.

What should happen with Trinity removed:
All classes should all be viable adjusting to have more then 1 role and all hybrids in between.

How the community thinks what should happen:
healing is trinity, REMOVE IT
tanking is OP, NERF IT
Burst dmg is to strong, NERF IT

So guess everyone wants every single profession to be sustained dps, all have the same possiblities, all have the same stats. Well, i guess that would be balanced, aside from the fact that everyone who asked for the nerfs would have left by then and left the dedicated players with barely a corpse of GW2

I do trust Arenanet though so i hope they do investigate something thoroughly before changing anything.

depends, in pve they may all be viable, in pvp every profession is kinda stuck into 1 direction of role.

Alot of the people are for example thief using either Backstab or Clusterbomb, mesmer with shatterbuild, elementalist bunker abusing Evasive arcana (without that healing ele bunker would be UP as hell), bunker guardian, knockback bunker engineer, 100b warrior etc. etc.
Not saying EVERYONE plays those exact roles/builds, but i can say most of them do.

Not saying those people are wrong or something, yust saying those builds kinda push the less effective builds down alot.

This comment may not be viable after the 15th nov. patch though, so i will wait

Pff, jeez. this is an mmorpg, this isnt some singleplayer game where you have everything you want within 30 mins. Also yust do quest and get spells meanwhile, dont go grind the same stuff, thats yust ruining it for yourself.

To me the risk vs reward is nice, but the time vs reward sucks. My Warrior can kill 6+ mobs in a fraction of the time my Ele can and not even break a sweat. It is really kind of sad…

You’re obviously doing it wrong. I can drop way more mobs than any of my other toons on my elementalist.

PvE-wise, I’d say they are definitely worth it. There is a steep learning curve, but once you master it, as said above, you can easily become a very versatile machine.

They are a little lackluster in PvP at the moment because our damage is very low in most builds and unless you’re running D/D it is insanely easy to dodge most of our attacks (without using the dodge button). You can still be effective but its more situational (great in group fights and in siege/defense situations).

Hopefully most of the problems we do have will be resolved in the ‘big patch’ coming tomorrow.

1 staff build, 1 S/D build

level 80, storyline almost done (like 2 quests remaining) and i never died in a storyquest so i wonder how easy it would be with other professions.

btw, staff is the way to go for pve imo :P
