Since when Anet listen what the community wants?

Since when has the community wanted anything other than to DESTROY ALL ENEMIES with minimum effort?

Since when has the major part of the community find excuses for anets poor and lazy community/update/fixing policy?

Don’t bother asking questions like these till some time after the release. We don’t know the live changes, nor has anyone had time to fully figure out the class other than get an -idea- of what it can do.

As for the comment about WvW, they perform well enough in Zergs. They are particularly good at smashing people in choke points and amazing on high ground so far. They are also good at killing people who are gliding.

PvP: Like the first note I made, no one has figured out how to play him. If it gives you an idea, “pro” players will just smash tripple tap when they have the initiative for it when there was a more efficient option available… then they will caw and haw about how bad DE is. However, I’ve also seen videos where players have put DE Rifle through the ropes and had just smashed games without spamming tripple tap the entire time.

Also, don’t compare it to DD. Too many people got it in their head that DE is supposed to be better than DD, when they both functionally do very different things and have very different play-styles. I’ve seen DE’s kill DD’s just fine despite everything people say. If anything, they should be par if you put effort in learning it.

I’d love to have a conversation with you, beside your usual “we can’t know” and “I saw bad players get stomped” and simply ignoring what your opponent says.

PvE – Play whatever you want.
WvW – Deadeye will never reach roaming capability of Daredevil, and won’t find a use in zergs, duo to all the projectile hate. Even without rifle, deadeye doesn’t bring any sustain daredevil won’t do better.
But I can see it for trolling.
Try daredevil, but won’t get disappointed with deadeye.

I dont know what you are all smoking, sure the mirrors are irrelevant and their are bugs like that axe port makes you face in the wrong direction but as a whole that spec feels awesome.

It feels like what a mesmer should have been from the beginning, a trickster, a thiefish duelist. Jaunting around and beeing bascialy a 1v1 troll is hella fun. People that cry because they lose their dodge do not realize how broken mirage cloak is in pvp.

it’s the fact that it adds nothing new for mesmers to play with besides like 2 okay-ish additions with Jaunt and the Dodge/Elusive Mind

Its not a fact its your oppinion, I play pvp most of the time and I can assure you that mirage is one of the elites in the game that has a reallyunique play style. Weaver for example has tons of additional stuff but in the end doesnt play that much different from a basic elementalist.

Even tempest was just more of the same. Weaver is worst.
I just hope for expension three to bring something really new to elementalist.

Again I bring this up but its an apt example. If you’ve seen the clip of Sindrenerr trying out Trickery/Shadow Arts/Deadeye and how he plays it…he doesn’t play it well. The silly man is practically within melee range of people constantly and doesn’t even bother to gain distance and isn’t using the amount of stealth the class can get to his advantage. I’d link the clip but I have no idea where it went, however I think there are a few people here that can attest to it.

I remember that clip, and had much the same thoughts as you. However this isn’t something limited to sindrener. During the entire beta weekend I saw maybe 1 renegade and only a couple weavers, since both of those communities wrote their spec off as trash within hours of the beta opening.

All of the PoF elites take significant departures in gameplay, mechanics, and functionality from the base class and HoT elites, it’s going to be a long while before the community hashes out the best way to play a elite.

However I do still stand on my previous statement about DE being bad because it doesn’t surpass D/p DrD. Simply because DE’s main purpose seems to be killing power, but in conquest you only have 5 slots on your team, so burning one of those slots for a spec that only brings damage is a waste.

Just as in a raid.

Generation 1 Elite spec’s were just far too powerful, meaning if a new Elite spec comes out it better performs far better than the other Elite spec on some areas of the game or it will get complained about (which is the case for almost all new Elite specs).

They should honestly revisit Gen 1 Elite specs, tune them down a bit and nerf condi damage, nerfing condi should be easy because all condi damage uses the same formula, so just changing the scaling number on them reduces their damage all at once, simple as that, either that or make armor/toughness matter vs condi damage.

Nerf old stuff to promote new stuff behind a paywall is not a nice move.

GW2 is the first game I encountered, in which the devs are not listening to the community.
They don’t reply, they don’t discuss and it feels like any complain is just ignored.
I don’t want to be salty or just hate about the devs, but please think about anet’s refuse to rework anything broken.
Other huge games release a new patch very often with more little tweaks and fixes to bring a class/character into a specific position, instead of huge and gamechanging patches.
A big patch wouldn’t be that bad, if they would also do the necessary tweaks afterwards, which anet don’t do.
Less patches a year than fingers at your hand.
The only thing anet response really fast if players discover a farm method, the rest is mostly abandoned.
I love this game, I hate anet’s lazy and ignorant patch policy.

Hmm strange, why don’t all the rangers use their longbow in pvp and wvw? A weapon with higher burst capability, AOE, higher projectile velocity, CC and sustain than rifle, still being underused? Could it be, that all the projectile hate and denial makes projectile based weapons rather bad?

Ok, this may sound silly, but I really think that TANK DEADEYE can be viable. The specialization has A LOT of damage and tanky build can be useful.

This build will cut it’s damage to half but, it can tank some damage and deal damage at the same time.

Lol.

Otherwise, yes. You should build full berserker or marauder to do real damage.

Tanky means more than just not using zerker stats.
And no, neither core thief or daredevil, nor deadeye will be even close to being tanky.

Warrost.4895

Here’s the thing about GW2: You can do most things with most classes, but people will get upset and boot you on PUGs unless you use one of the proven cookie-cutter builds on Metabattle. Find friends who don’t care about the meta and you’re fine.

That being said, it looks like you’re wanting something that can:
-Go Fast
-Provide acceptable support for Fractals/Raids while maintaining solid DPS
-Not die when slapped with a wet noodle in WvW

Elementalist is one of the strongest buffers in the game, and its DPS is quite nice when built properly. It also has a number of movement-boosting skills for crossing the open world, and can be quite survivable when geared and traited for WvW roaming. If you want to cut down on gear, grab a general-use Celestial set with boon duration Sigils and you should be able to handle most of the game in most any trait configuration you need. Also Weaver looks awesome in a way Tempest never really did for me.

Mesmer is also a strong contender for multipurpose character. It’s a strong solo roamer when played right, offers a strong support spec for Raids/Fractals with Chronomancer, and has a pretty good amount of survival options when solo. I had a lot of fun running HoT content with my Chrono, and I’m holding out that Mirage is going to be pretty fun once it’s tweaked just a hair and the community learns how to exploit it.

I’m personally going to main Engineer and Guardian this time around, because I love the concepts behind Holosmith and Firebrand and will enjoy playing them regardless of their place in the game’s power hierarchy. Firebrand looks like an axe-wielding, fire-blasting, quickness-inducing scholar-knight with a deep tie to lore. Holosmith makes your Engineer into a supercharged, wire-fighting kung-fu swordmaster with weapons literally made out of sun-stuff. Those are objectively pretty darned cool.

You may also have an easier time with slower characters soon. I haven’t had a chance to play with Mounts yet, but if they sufficiently bump your speed when going from place to place, then hey- All you have to care about is combat.

Sadly mounts won’t be a thing in wvw…yet.
With HoT release I thought it would be impossible for gliders to be a part of wvw. But here we are.
I hope, maybe someday, a huge cavalry attack on the side of a zerg will be a thing.

I feel like this is probably what happened with Renegade in the first place, A.net saw a bunch of forum warriors QQ’ing about not having a ranged condi weapon (something that we didn’t even need and doesn’t even fit with the rest of our kit) and decided that it would be the feature they’d implement to save their revenant community and bolster expansion sales.

We wanted a core ranged condi wep. Not something locked behind e-spec. And shortbow sux anyway, it has 0 defensive tools with 900 range. Wish they used my concept for rifle which i made over a year ago.

1. Sphere of Anguish – Fire a shoot towards your target. Inflict increasing durations of torment, the farther away that your foe is from you.

-Damage; 135 (0.45)
-Torment:
800+ range – 5sec
400-800 range – 4sec
0-400 range – 3sec
-Combo Finisher: Physical Projectile 20%
-3/4 sec cast time
-Number of targets; 1

2. Venomous Spheres – Fire three poisoned spheres towards your foe.

-Damage (x3): 70 (0.20)
-Poison: 3x, 5 sec duration
-Cd; 4
-Cast time: 1sec
-Pierces
-Number of targets: 5
-Energy cost: 5
-Combo Finisher: Physical Projectile

3. Frigid Sphere – Fire a frigid sphere towards your foe deflecting projectiles on it way and chilling opponents as it pass through.

-Damage: 165 (0.5)
-Chill: 2 seconds
-Radius: 120
-Cd: 8
-Cast time: 1/4
-Combo Finisher: Physical Projectile
-Pierces
-Number of targets: 5
-Energy cost: 5

4. Igniting Sphere – Ignite target area, burning nearby foes.

-Damage (x4): 125 (0.4)
-Burning: 2x, 2sec
-Radius: 240
-Cd; 12
-Cast time: 3/4
-Combo Field: Fire
-Duration; 3 seconds
-Pulses: 4
-Ground targeted
-Number of targets: 5
-Energy cost: 10

5. Diabolic Eruption – Blast the ground, damaging and immobilizing your foes. Upon blasting shadowstep backward.

-Damage: 335 (1.0)
-Immobilize: 2sec
-Cast time: 1/2
-Cd: 15sec
-Number of targets: 5
-Shadowstep range: 600
-Energy cost: 15
-Combo Finisher: Blast

Unique ideas, neat synergy, overall pretty good.
Maybe tweak the cd’s a bit…but sadly it is way too late for major changes.
I doubt even tweaks will happen. Maybe in a year and onward.

Something that was extremely frustrating when playing in the story demo as rifle thief was the single target dps lockdown, during stages where u had to kill 5 10+ mobs it got tedious real fast having to take em down one by one, instead of having a fancy aoe.

To be completely honest, if you thought it was tedious to take down each mob individually with the rifle then I don’t think you were doing enough damage.

I was able to just melt through mobs one by one pretty quickly and had no difficulties clearing packs. Little tip, though; use Sigil of Fire. If you’re building properly as a Deadeye you’re going to be getting crits frequently and it will proc so frequently after its icd is up that you’re going to think you’re firing explosive rounds.

I had this thought as well but decent aoe on a weapon should not have to come from a sigil.

To be honest, with the rifle trait you can spare your sigil of accuracy, and sigil of force won’t have such a big impact on hard but slow hitting skills.
I can totally see sigil of fire being viable on rifle.
Not a smooth solution though, a built in AOE would be better, but I can see it working.

Viable and optimal are two different things

Yeah, in terms of organized pvp team, as I said 99% of your time in GW2 you are not under those conditions therefore viable is enough.
Even tho I still believe someone would find out a comp with “optimal” DE in it

Why? Or more precise, how?
current meta in pvp is: tempest, chrono, daredevil, scrapper and revenant.
These classes are not chosen by a mighty shadow power in the background, but because they fill their roles best.
Which of those would you replace with deadeye? Since chrono is not replaceable (2x portal/moa for example), daredevils ability to uncap and +1 makes it also not replaceable.
Maybe tempest, but deadeye cant fit in it’s role
Scrapper also not replaceable by deadeye

You surely can play deadeye in unranked or spvp, just like you can drive a smart everywhere. But don’t expect to win races with it.

The "whining problem"

Warrost.4895

That is the problem with a lot of pvp-ers , you all are comparing DE to DrD like “DE wont be able to do what DrD is doing so it wont be viable”, ofc it wont, because those 2 are totally different in gamplay. I know it is hard to think about “what if meta changes and roaming backcapping / +1-ing DrD wont be needed that much”, but there is this possibility, DE is more of a skirmisher who can win 1v1 (not saing you will ahve to play rifle or will be playing it) and DrD is mobile +1 ganking tool.

Meta won’t shift to a state “where drd won’t be needed that much”, simply because there are already classes for skirmishing and 1v1.
But you know what? People still don’t do a 5v5 without a daredevil.
Because reality has proven, that decapping and +1 showed to work best to win.
Beside that, thief is not a 1v1 class, and deadeye won’t change that.
Not enough sustain for example.

Warrost.4895

Just a reminder, ATs are the only “5v5” gamemode in the game currently and even that isnt played by that many people, so who cares if DE is or is not viable there if 99% of time you are solo/duo queing ranked ? so with that in mind:
1) Will be DE viable in sPvP? – YES
2) will it be the best spec ? – probably NO , but who cares if you enjoy playing it
3) Will DE be viable in WvW? – Hell yes
4) Will DE be viable in PvE? – Yes, rifle probably wont be best choice mainly in raids, but that does not matter at all, everywhere else in PvE you will be able to play Rifle

So conclusion is: DE will be viable spec, period.

Saying it can be technical played, doesnt mean it will be viable.

  • Can deadeye be played technically in spvp?
    Yes
  • Can you stomp low ranked?
    Yes
  • Will it be viable compared to daredevil or even close?
Clearly no, because it simply can’t do what daredevil can
  • Can it be technically played in WvW?
    Yes
  • Will it be viable (beside trolling of course) in wvw?
Not for zergs, just like thief/daredevil brings nothing for zergs, deadeye won’t do either.
Rifle is not viable in zergs, duo to all the projectile hate and no AOE capability
  • For roaming?
Daredevil is faster and more safe for caping
Deadeye won’t differ much from D/P I guess. Either you burst your prey down or run away. Deadeye brings nothing for sustain, beside more stealth to reset the fight.
But even here, beside the not special range of 1500 (just when you cripple yourself!) deadeye will be an easy kill.
You can ask rangers why they don’t use their longbow that much.

Personally I doubt deadeye will come even close to daredevils damage in raids, but I have not tested it.

  • Is deadeye physically playable?
    Yes
  • Is it viable compared to daredevil?
    I guess not.

If the would change the effect to an actual teleport instead of a bugged since day 1 shadowstep, shadow trap could really be an option.

Actually FB has 4:

Firebrand: Great Potential

in Guardian

Posted by: Warrost.4895

Warrost.4895

I played during stress test, firebrand felt super clunky and very squishy.

I really don’t understand this. I ran Seraph gear and didn’t feel squishy at all. The only time I died was when I tried to solo a bounty. But I’ve seen other people say it too. It’s weird.

I also played Firebrand during the stress test. I tried out two different builds: offensive DPS (Vipers) and defensive Support (Minstrel). I can’t say I had problems surviving. Open world isn’t exactly the pinnacle of hard content though.

Having permanent quickness felt really strong (especially with Stand your Ground) on a DPS build. Tome of Justice with Renewed Justice gives the Tome the ability to resume bursting on each new enemy. The Axe qualifies as a decent condition weapon. The only thing I didn’t like about it is that the Axe #3 doesn’t have a ground targeted animation like Ranger Axe #4 Path of Scars. Right now if I want to pull another add to my target I had to re-select my new target.

Using support with Tome of Resolve and Tome of Courage felt underwhelming. The Tomes didn’t bring anything I was already able to do with my core Guardian set up. I was able to survive Champions and large group of mobs with Mace+Shield / Staff. Once in a while I used Tome of Resolve #4 & #1 to burst heal myself but the heals are very dull and limited. No range, low radius, low coefficients. Tome of Courage is all right with the Legendary Lore trait that gives aegis, otherwise it’s just more of the same on a very long cool down.

The trait lines are pretty much straightforward. Grandmaster traits only have 1 viable option which is Loremaster. Stoic Demeanor doesn’t feel like a Grandmaster trait. Quickfire needs a slight boost in order to compete with Druid buffs.

I like the ammunition system on Mantra’s. The cone radius needs to go for supportive Mantra’s. This regards to Mantra of Potence, Mantra of Lore & Mantra of Liberation.

With these changes I believe Firebrand will have potential to become meta.

Tomes are kitten and thats why they need to be like engi kits, using skills whenever we want and not locked into spending all pages before going out. They need to have increased skill cd’s (f3 reflecting dome like 30 sec and worse skills with smaller cd’s) and tomes need to share pages with regen over time so its not abusable.

Now skills and abilities just contradict each other, mantras cone, tomes huge cd’s, tome huge cast time, melee oriented without movement speed boost, bad traits…

They are the worst example of bad resources system

  1. The virtues/tomes have a high cd for their reward
  2. The skills rely on pages, which don’t regenerate
  3. The tome skill themselves also have a cd

You have to pay three times a price for a reward.

Deadeye: Feedback from demo weekend

in Thief

Posted by: Warrost.4895

Warrost.4895

It always amuses me when people who don’t even PvP try explain how “OP” or unbalanced/balanced something is in PvP.

Having said that, I’m glad to see that there are at least some people who realize the current state of DE as being horribly bad, as opposed to DD, in every single part of the game (except open world – but literally everything works there).

I suggest that just because you PvP it hardly makes you more an authority on the game than those that do not. PvP is a rigid format and artificially limits what a build can do by that format.

To DE spec itself and how "bad " you claim it is based on a weekend of gameplay.

Some of the same voices were making the same complaints about DrD on its release including your Pvp players. It was referred to as trash and worse then any existing traitline in core.

Contrary to claims it took a year to fix DRd , outside the damage on staff itself it remained virtually unchanged since release and now is considered mandatory by many.

A traitline can not be dismissed as being horribly bad until those that TEST the thing in battle for several weeks on end do so. The beta test of DrD demonstrated we could not learn enough of the spec in a single weekend.

Outside the Rifle itself I think DD is in pretty good shape but will not form a final conclusion until I test it further. I never liked the concept of Rifle on thief on the get go , but can see how some would like it and how it can work in the existing system.

Of course it does! Open world is brainless, do whatever you want there.
(high) Fractals: evades and staff of daredevil is just unbeatable there.
Raids: Condi DrD is top end damage, and since DE does nothing for a proper condi build, it sure won’t be even a viable option for a DPS slot.
“But what about replacing PS Warrior?!?” nope, Condi PS is just so insanely good. High damage, even higher damage against big hitboxes while offering banners, PS and shouts. Why would you ever consider replacing a Condi PS warrior with a DE, which has to sacrifice a lot for just keeping might high?
Let’s come to sPVP
Okay, since we cannot really assume any possible combination in a 5v5 match, just let’s talk about the usual meta:
Daredevil, Chrono, Scrapper, Tempest and a Revenant.
Daredevils speed for decaping and supportive +1 is just unreachable. It cannot be replaced by any means, because no other class can do daredevils job
Which other place would you switch for deadeye? Three of those classes already do blocks and overall projectile hate, simply removing you from a +1.
Chrono is also not replaceable. 2xMoa/Portal – ’nough said.
So I am asking you: what will be deadeyes place? Which class would you replace in a proper 5v5? What would you replace in a min-max raid team?

-1- sniper has a massive impact in a fight than you think :/. Doesn’t matter if you’re defending or attacking. Deadeye deals a CRAPLOAD of damage to a single target, and can outright kill them before they even get a chance to do anything.

So what makes deadeye impactful? You have the EASIEST time killing artilary mages. you know, those mages that can really ruin a zerg with just one half- kitten placed AOE. You can kill players who are using siege engines on walls. You can kill players who are using things like catapults or battering rams. Or… you can just be like me and systematically kill zerglings one at a time while they scramble about to try and find something fun to do. You’ll probably have racked up plenty of kills before the zerg finally decides to go crashing in.

You can kill players who don’t pay attention. A magic trick surely just deadeye can do.
Beside trolling, deadeye won’t have a decent place.

I disagree on your claiming Blinding powder offers more then Sdaowgust. This just because I killed more then a few in WvW by knocking them over cliffs.

What a funny and healthy gameplay.

SG was also very useful when doing rezzes or pushing people away forom an ally they were tring to rez.

You cannot use Shadow Gust while reviving, since it has a cast time.

Blinding Powder stealths not just you but your allies, is a blast finisher and blinds enemies.
I can see the uses of SG, but I would prefer Blinding Powder if I have to choose between those two.

I agree with everything Asur wrote, it could be from me.

I’m gonna agree with Babazhook here…

The stolen skills are not random. You know -exactly- what you will get when you steal from a specific profession, just like with the core thief class. The duration of their conditions increases depending on how much malice you have. This means you can easily slam someone with a bleed that lasts for six seconds. And while Consume Plasma is nice… remember that it’s a tiny edge. None of the boons you gain come in multiple stacks, so it’s not like you’re running someone down while you have 15 stacks of might or something.

Plasma is the top end of stolen skills. None of the mark skills come even close, and everyday anywhere I would prefer plasma. Hell, I would prefer any of the core stolen skills, since the mark skills are just a bad joke. A single boon, and a single condition.
No uniqueness, and no reward for tactical use. there is no point to hold the mark skill back, just spam it right away ( no wait, not even a possibility, since with mark ends the skill also disappears).
Mark skills are just laughable, I mean…even healing seed at least removes a condition.

I am fine with the Shadow Flare’s cool down. It’s 30 seconds where shadow step is on 50 seconds. The trade offs for taking shadow flare over shadow step is very clear. Flare is an aggressive form of shadow step and is not intended to be used as a means of escape. The damage is underwhelming at first, but when you have a few points of malice it will just start slamming people, and it makes for a very powerful area control.

Most fights are already over before Shadow Flare reaches a stadium of “not being a total waste of a utility slot”.
Shadow step offers more utility and movement, breaks stun and does not require the awful slow malice build up time to be even an option to think about.

Movement keys -SHOULD NOT- trigger Free-action. There are plenty of players who double tap to dodge. I personally double tap. It’d be better to give a stronger visual queue on the UI via a color change that contrasts more strongly, and to have it where pressing JUMP will immediately trigger free action.

Absolutely personal preference. Beside that it is just “all of you others has to play like I do!”. Give us the option for WASD triggering free action, so everyone is satisfied.

Not sure how I feel about the remark on the 30s cool down for malicious restoration needing to be lowered. The heal is actually very strong if you can avoid popping it. But a trait with CD reduction for Cantrips would be nice.

Again, a healing skill should not be too situational. With malice affecting the actual heal and condi removal, it is way to dependent, considering the laughable slow build up of malice.
That’s why A.E.D is so bad, not because “the actual heal is quite strong” but because it is not a versatile healing skill in any situation.

Worth reflection.

I would really like to see a comparison video of you, because I heavily doubt, that deadeye can in any way even come close to daredevil in terms of conditions. How should that even work? DD has no traits affecting conditions or dealing conditions at all

Questions about Staff + P/P

Warrost.4895

I don’t know much about the meta right now but I heard D/P is on the rise. I’ve been trying some combinations and I think this one is really good. I only tried it on Maguuma but that was more damage than I expected. I am running full power on it and traits are Trickery, Critical Strikes and Dash Daredevil. Utilities are Withdraw, Assassin’s Signet, Skale Venom to inflict vulnerability, Blinding Powder and Dagger Storm for some situations ( Getting surrounded by enemies, foes with CC chains).

The combo is you use #4 to blind the enemy and 5 vulnerability stacks, then use Skale Venom with auto attack for quick vulnerability, use Blinding Powder and hit a little bit more and you Steal if they escape or if you are low on initiative.. If you do this quick, you can get to 25 vulnerability stacks in 4-5 seconds. Then you swap to P/P and unload the kitten out of your pistols with at least 20 vulnerability on them.

I know that might not be the best build but you can take Shadowstep instead of Blinding Powder if your foes escape.

What do you think about it?

First off, please use a constructor and post the link of your build here. For example this one

Secondly, for open world everything is fine. Literally everything.

Thief has several viable builds in PvP.

D/P is still the best and most desired with pvpteams but Staff and Condi has its uses too.

In PVE, Thief DPS is one of the best for Raids right now so that is awesome! Thief in Fractals is fine too.

WvW, Thief is god. Nuff said.

Like I said, can’t really talk about pvp here, but I heard this bound nerf was a bit unnecessary.

Worth reflection.

I believe the DE spec is going to be better then a lot of people suggest. This a link to the original DrD release which many mocked and ridiculed as garbage .

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/You-kidding-me/first

YES there were tweaks needed and applied in response to player input but if one looks at the critique of DrD and compares to today where so many claim it MANDATORY , there a lesson to be learned.

I doubt they will listen to the mandatory of the thief playerbase, just think about the broken shadowsteps since day 1, and I just find it ridiculous to believe there will even be a kind of overhaul of rifle (or at least a look on a specific skill) for example.

That ONE EXTRA dodge bar was huge and the DrD changed thief in a big way.

would be a start if malice would affect condi damage and/or more than one person. right now it is “just” a simple damage boost, which built up time is longer most fights last, doesn’t affect conditions and doesn’t affect more than one player.

The first patch to HOT came out 3 months after release. The second three months after that and further “fixes”

If we have luck we can have a fixed rifle maybe after 6 months. That’s a bright future, but I give you that. This is not a specific thief problem, I dislike Anet’s whole patch/balance policy. I just hope you will admit, that Anet never hurried with balance/engine/mechanic problems, even to this day.

I sincerely believe Deadeye is going to better than many people think and I also believe as far as “fleshing out” is concerned that it ahead of the DrD spec on release.

Sure it will perform better, since people will learn to adapt and to play it.

.

I sincerely believe Deadeye is going to better than many people think and I also believe as far as “fleshing out” is concerned that it ahead of the DrD spec on release.

I don’t get your point.
It is better than Daredevil on release, and this helps with deadeye’s problems in which way?
Or did you mean rather “it is better than drd on release, so stop complaining and talking about problems” ( I know, I am a bit polemical here).

But I would like to read you thoughts about tweaks and fixes deadeye (and it’s rifle) needs.

I’ve been out of the game for a couple years. Thief is probably my favorite class aside from Elementalist. One of the big reasons i quit playing was because no one wanted me in a group. They found thieves added no value to groups and therefor, had no place.

Is that still the case? Or can I finally enjoy all content with my thief? Any builds I should be looking at? I see daredevil is new, but when I look at the forum I don’t even see a single mention of it lol. Any information is helpful as I can find a single google search to find out what I want to know!

Thanks

Run RUUUUUN! Thief is bad and Anet hates it!

No really I like thief overall.
It is in good place literally everywhere.
I don’t play pvp myself, but a few of my friends told me they dislike Anet’s treatment in pvp for thief, which is basically “Thief is capable of 1v1? NERF IT!”.

Here are my two cents about the classes I played the most during the weekend:

Deadeye:

- Rifle with a mark feels way too strong. You are basically a killshot warrior without cd and with stealth.
- I could easily win 1onX scenarios without having real trouble unless the opponent was a thief.
- spammable backwards shadow step made it very easy to gain distance but was a little bit buggy when you had a wall behind you
- kneeling should be easier to disable. Maybe a Dodge roll or through movement. In that case maybe remove the charges so you always can go into kneel mode.
- cantrips felt fine and tuned very good while fitting the sniper scenario
- shadow meld could possible break wvw and PvP balance. Way to strong of an elite for such a low cooldown. Never had any trouble to access stealth whenever I want, even without a perma stealth build.
- the mark was very easy to apply so I can not understand the concern here.

1. Technically you are speaking of #4 while kneeling. You have to kneel, let all your malice be built up and then fire the most predictable skill in the whole game.
Even though I hate that sentence, but that is really a l2p issue. No decent player should have trouble dodge that #4.
2. I..I can’ roflstomp that class as easy as the others, so nerf pl0x!
3. agree, the shadowstep system is extremly buggy, but it was since release, so I doubt anything will happen.
4. remove cast time for kneel and let it end by simply moving with WASD.
5. cantrips either need a cd reducing trait or reduced cd at all. Right now they are not even worth considering (just think about the healing cantrip)
6. shadow meld is strong indeed, but something deadeye need.
7. Deadeye’s mark can be: dodged and obstructed, since it count’s as a projectile. Malice builds up too slow, cast time is destroying any flow.

Why cant you equip both specializations?

DE will be good for raid but for pve not so much since it has zero aoe/cleave capabilities

The dead eye can delete targets pretty quickly with the rifle. If they made the cast time for mark much faster, then deadeye would probably be fine in PvE

Where do you need that “delete fast” tactic? Rifle has no viable AOE (or at least, hit-more-than-one skill) to make it usefull for openworld (but then…open world is brainless buttonsmashing anyway).
For raids I doubt deadeye will find a place. Condi DD or even fractal zerker DD will be better, in terms of damage, sustain and AOE capability.
Dungeons —> see open world
High tier fractals will stay on DD I guess, but since I do not play fractals that much I just can speculate here, but again. DD’s sustain and AOE damage is just too good. A deadeye simply doesn’t have that spamable evade and all those jumps.
