What exactly is causing this to NEED to happen? As a software developer for the past 20 years, I don’t see why this would be a forced limitation unless your servers simply can not handle it. If that is the case – upgrade servers, don’t say its just not fixable.

This has been my biggest complaint about this game since I started playing it. I have to spend an hour a week almost just trying to sell the stuff out of my bank because I do WvW and am too busy paying attention to playing the game to sell my mats, so I just hit deposit and sell everything over the weekend. If there was no limit on how fast I could sell, I’d have it all done in 5 minutes or less..

I shouldn’t be capped on how much I can sell, it doesn’t make sense. Please do explain and maybe someone here with knowledge like myself can make a suggestion to fix your problem.

Oh boy its one of these posts where the community thinks they know better than the devs cause they have “20 years as a software developer”. I hate to burst your bubble but you see these devs you know the ones qualified to make the game I’m going to say that they know their software better than the community. Now I’m not saying you don’t have good knowledge on software I’m sure you do but to make that you argument as to why your right is baloney. Take a therapist you have multiple kinds you have cognitive behaverioul therapists who deal with the present they know more about certain therioes now could I go in and start complaining “I study psychology and I can honestly say you are wrong” just cause I studied it no just like you have no right to complain about software when you have no scooby about what Anet use.

No because masteries are HoT exclusive you need the expansion.

What about guild missions?

You talk about updating successful parts of the game. Guild missions are wildly popular with many people I know (and definitely within my very active very large guild – and definitely more than raids).

They haven’t been touched in years. Any chance we will see new guild missions anytime soon?

Play normally, any additional progress you make won’t be lost. Any additional XP from rediscovering the same POIs and waypoints will also be retained once your characters are fixed.

The current plan is to repair all affected characters during work hours on Monday. I finished doing several tests and passes against the game databases to ensure we know who is affected and what they lost.

Those affected should be receiving an email in the next couple days with information on how this restore process will happen. For those that don’t want to wait for that email, the process is pretty simple:

We plan on temporarily blocking access to your game account. During this time we will perform the repairs and run some quick tests to ensure everything went smoothly. I don’t expect this process to take longer than an hour or so.

I’m also doing my best to ensure that those affected are compensated for the inconvenience this has caused. No promises on what that entails, as I have no control over that.

Raids are being created so you do NOT need to wait for a certain class to get online they want you to be able to play the content without much waiting.

Chances are yes it would be stupid to leave these because they also need to be balanced.

If I remember correctly Colin said the same week as HoT so chances are it will come out on the tuesday people can have some fun with that content then release HoT so they can avoid these issues.

It seems the devs at Anet have some funky dance moves are they professional backup dancers on their downtime.

To be honest Bass guitar, electric guitar and Violin are three instruments that I never would have thought to mix together but after hearing how the instruments intertwined with each other my opinion has completely changed those musical sequences were absolutely beautiful.

Remember he didn’t say Druid is a dedicated healer just that Druids will be more useful as a Healer/Support spec.

Hmm let see content, raids, masteries, guild halls, new maps, new armor and skins amongst other expansion features or duelling something you will be able to do in guild halls what should Anet spend time on.

Classes don’t get story in game races do so the lore you want for the revenant in the expansion will probably not happen as its not a race.

yea… the content drought has killed alot of players in this game. I hope to see more content released alot sooner from this. Hopefully NCSoft has gotten all the money they think they can get from us here and is turning it over to Anet to see what they can do with it. Hopefully we will see alot of new events and story things to come!

NCSoft wasn’t stopping Anet making content all the decisions for the live game are up to Anet NCSoft only had a say in the boxed content at release.

Actually after this beta we will have 1 more so maybe the will do a special event before release allowing us to play all the elite specs in the open world so they can get the balance right.

There will be more information coming on how masteries will work and other information on raids and fractals over the next 8 weeks to launch remember information is still going to be coming out.

This F2P or as I like to call it Play for Free idea is NOT a new business model as these free accounts need to buy the expansion to get the full experience of GW2. GW2s buisness model is and always will be unless something drastic happens buy to play.

To early release. With all the specs, unfinished, Druid still not revelead (as engineer spec), verdant brink maps (+ the other secret one) barely tested. Raids not tested (clearly not included in HoT), I think the release was pushed to soon. 2 months is not enough to fix all the issues and finsih the new specs and revenant. Take an example of The Witcher 3. They had courage to postpone twice, but people are now gratefull with an amazing game. They already forgot it was pushed twice, cause it’s GOOD. It has bugs, but overall reviews agree they are minimal (means the big bugs for such large scale game, all have been quelled pretty well).

We ain’t testing all of the expansion just the different Biomes in Verdant Brink, the day night cycle, elite specs, adventures and outposts as well as masteries thats it. The QA team tests the rest as Anet don’t want to spoil the whole expansion.

Intentionally nerfed for beta is however tin foil hat stuff. It’s easier for them to tinker from a low base until they find the sweet spot they are after

1. Don’t trust IGN with any sort of GW2 news no doubt they got most of it wrong. 2. Colin actually said masteries will tie into the challenging group content nowhere has it been said Elite specs will tie into this content.

All Elite specs revealed so far will be available excluding Druid and Engi.

Really if its the name stopping you playing the spec that is the absolute worst reason no to play it its a name sure its not perfect but it doesn’t affect gameplay stop crying over a name there will be more elite specs in the future just enjoy the elite spec.

The new WvW is not open for this beta I think the new WvW map will just get stress tests on new clients like they have been doing.

There is no in game announcement there is just an announcement at PAX this weekend.

Don’t ask about laws in Europe the EU are bad at keeping laws public.

I think what people are worried about is Anet have just thrown this out here and we don’t know what changes have been made to the EULA maybe if Anet describe why we had to agree to this new EULA changes people will be less worried.

I also noticed these. They say beta WEEKEND achievements so that makes me wonder if there is another beta weekend not far off. Maybe they are just the achievements from the last BWE though.
I sincerely hope these achievements are a mistake though because I do not want to play the beta weekend events even though I preordered because I don’t want the expansion spoiled for me and the miss out of 5AP, as an achievement hunter, would disappoint me.

Why would they put in the beta achievements from the last beta when that beta had no achievements what so ever.

When did Anet say it will be released around christmas. Last time I checked they said it will be out in 2015 they didn’t give the range of months it could be released.

Thanks for revealing the Warrior & Thief specializations because that means there are only TWO (Count them: TWO) specializations left! I have a feeling Ranger Druid will be revealed next which means Engie will be the very last. But hey, we’re getting somewhere. Right?

My hope is that Engie will have the best reveal. I’ve been waiting for word on my class’s changes since January. The class also had two major nerfs during the last few months: Celestial Rifle Engie is useless in sPvP while Turret Engie got nerfed in all areas of the game(PvE, PvP, WvW). I hope the Engie reveal makes up for these major losses. I really, really, really hope that Celestial Rifle and Turret Engie aren’t repackaged as part of the specialization because that would seriously suck after waiting for 8 months straight.

To all of those who keep telling me to “be patient”: See what happens when people politely ask Anet to reveal certain specializations? We have had no word about the Ranger & Engie specializations since January. We only had pictures and only scant info about the Druids to go on. Plus, politely asking Anet to reveal certain things in the new xpac is a way of showing interest in their work. Let that be a lesson to all of you.

Wait you think Anet revealed them because people asked Anet revealed them because the specs we complete chances are Druid and “Forge” are not ready and don’t start with the “but we saw them in the trailer” that doesn’t wash yes if we are patient time will go faster but we got those reveals cause they are ready not because we asked.

Living story is more like GW1 Beyond technically HoT is an expansion like EOTN not a whole campaign like Factions or NF.

That’s were the revenant story comes in. I’m not sure if revenant characters will still use the vanilla PS chapters, but my hunch is they will get a separate story line, and at one point meet up with the rest of the B-b-b-b-biconics. Then with that, it would become a stand-alone campaign, just like when starting out as dervishes in Nightfall, or playing Nightfall with a character from Prophecies. I’m not sure how they will do this, since if revs will have a separate story line, then they wouldn’t have been pact commanders, unless revs are all living undead, pulled from the Mists to live again. Holy kitten, that would be interesting to see. Pact commanders who died are rallied back to the living world by Rytlock. That’s some hax you got there Rytlock, but I guess it can still be possible, since Magdaer created the everlasting ghosts of ascalon. Revs are actually undead, vampires perhaps? Nah. It will Revenants will still need to kill Zhaitan and do season 2 nothing changes classes don’t have personal stories in GW2 races do.

I would compare GW2 LS1+LS2 to the GW1 expansion Eye of the North. GW2 Personal Story chapters and Heart of Thorns would be the stand alone campaigns. Just like in GW1, where you can play Prophecies, Factions or Nightfall without touching any EotN content, you can play both GW2 vanilla and HoT without purchasing LS1 and LS2. The main difference is the stories of LS1 and LS2 tie closely to the HoT campaign. Anet’s in a bind here, LS was meant to provide content interim expansions. I’m not sure if they planned LS to be replayable at all, since LS1 content can’t be replayed at the moment, meaning they probably weren’t planning on selling LS as episode packs in the first place. I’m not really a PvE guy, I love the lore, but PvE stuff in-game generally gets me sleepy. I bought this game mainly for WvW and for my love of GW1 PvP, but LS really hooked me into the PvE aspect of the game. Maybe they could do the same with PvP/WvW, do something to attract people to get hooked into team based and massive player battles.

No one is liable for a free upgrade you get a free character slot they aren’t giving the expansion away for free just cause you bought the game before the announcement.

Its highly and very plausible they can do this PAX is in Seattle so its not a long trek from Anet to the convention hall so yes they could do a reveal and challenging content in the same week will they we will need to wait and find out.

Next week will be Pax, which will include Challenging Group content and other announcements. It is quite likely that we will not see a elite specialization on top of that.

Remember that is on a Saturday so chances are they can get a complete elite spec before PAX at the weekend I’m not saying they will but it means people don’t say we got no info this week before PAX.
