Yeah I admit I was confused by a solid state hard drive and an SSD card. My bad! Thanks for the info guys!

I recently spent 500 gems on transferring from an EU server to American. (I’m in Australia now – but when I bought the game was in the UK and had no trouble with loading times)

Since being in Australia the loading times have become insane – at least 52 seconds minimum. I have been in touch with support several times, checked my client, repaired it a few times and no errors and no noticiable difference, so finally they said to transfer server regions. So I purchased gems on Friday night and still no reduction in screen loading times.

Lame question – Is there a difference in buying and using an SSD card to using an external hard drive? I’m asking as I tried running GW2 from my ext hard drive and it made no difference so I am reluctant to try an SSD card and find no difference.

I’ve been meaning to respond to this thread (I’m currently caring for a sick relative and when I do get to the computer I have so many e-mails, things to respond I get sidetracked)

Great answers and comments. I have to admit in GW I had no idea why so many people had the name Legolas… I genuinely thought it was some Lego pun… (Duh!)

I was late getting GW2 and my name that I wanted from GW was gone so I was stumped for ages coming up with a warrior name I liked. I’m still yet to get one that I like that suits the look of the character.

I try to name my characters with either a song title but in keeping with their race/ profession. I had a female ranger named Purr Verse but I thought the name was more suited to a Necro so I bought a contract to change the name. Only now I’m thinking the name I have chosen for the Ranger is more Norn suited than Human, so I might well be dropping some more gems and getting another contract!

When I do see a truly unique name in game I do like to message the person and say. Or if it is a name of a character or reference to a show I like to have a chuckle and acknowledge their effort.

A few months ago I made my first and only male character, a Char Ranger named Charryl Dixon, I’m a massive Walking Dead fan and it was more of a joke than anything. But now I’ve leveled him to 80 I really quite like him and probably won’t delete.

Loving some of the names here. Gandalfini – class. And Ambage – definitely suits an Asura. Peter Capaldi / Doctor – oh please screenshot him!

I tried several combinations of Sweet Child of Vine and Thorn In My Side (before HoT launched) so nice going to whoever got them!

It might be an interesting concept to those that had GW adding a pair of possessed old glasses so you can see the old locations of items, like where Gwen’s flute was found in the original game ( for example – if you walk in that spot it might say ’ a haunting flute melody can be heard’ or something. Or at Thunderhead Keep ( I know not in the game yet, but hey!) ‘has anybody seen a healer’ (ref to the monk strike back in the day) Maybe like a nostalgia title. Doesn’t have to be tied to the original game – just a muddled suggestion!

…am I the only one that lies in bed thinking of unique character names – only to get up the next day, create the character and find the name is taken! I know the game is a few years old but I convince myself ‘my name’ is unique…..get up, try it and every variation is taken!

Anyone created the perfect name they wanted recently and it was available?

Although I’m on an EU server (Ruins of Surmia) I’m actually in Australia. – I play at odd hours so I can be pretty flexible with my times.

My main character is a level 80 ranger although I’ve experimented with all professions.

I’ve played PC games for years (going back to the ZX Speccy) I prefer the old FMV games, and quirky stories (Phantasmagoria 2!) Long time player of GW1 but only over a year under my belt in GW2.

GreyerSkies – Kudos to you for the generous spirit. Although it is sad to see another seasoned player leaving the game. I hope you find another worthy game – and although this game is nothing like GW I’m really enjoying playing ‘The Long Dark’. I’m enjoying wandering around trying to survive and it is quite calming after a few hours of grinding Mastery Points.

I usually refer to it as Guild Wars as no-one I know plays the game or the predecessor. If I’m talking to a fellow gamer or people that I think might know I *say Guild Wars 2. Grind Wars is a close second

I pre-purchased the HoT pack with the Ultimate edition (mainly for the reduced cost gems, which was worth my money) I play PvE and play solo – but do team up in game for events etc.

I like the new maps. I love gliding – that is a great new addition – but I hate how confusing the maps can be and how some parts are gated.

Am I glad I got the game? Yeah, but there’s a bit of discontentment with it – I haven’t had a lot of time to play so when I see some players that have like 170 Mastery points I’m like WTF !? I was excited when I bought GW2 at the start of this year and regretted not getting it right away instead of sticking with GW. But in my honest opinion HoT hasn’t been quite what I envisioned. To me it kind of feels as if everything has to be rushed or timed / planned out or waiting for a spot in a LFG. And sometimes I just want to unwind and explore at my own pace, which is why I’m really behind with Mastery points. Not QQing just my thoughts on the game

Are there any safe third party programs that we can use to get rid of this? I know the rules and the use at your own risk blah, blah… I’m just wanting to enjoy the scenery of the game without the clutter. Even if a simple read it once, click to disable message could be implemented, it would be much appreciated.

Sorry if this has been posted before – searched but nothing found. I’ve come late to the HoT party as I had real life commitments during launch week. I settle down to play and have got to ‘The Jungle Provides’ quest but 5 times of attempting I keep getting disconnected. I do the main quest / save the weaving stations etc and the ‘big boss’ appears then just when I have virtually killed them "disconnect error’’

It is not my router or network as the GW game screen indicates, but the game. Any work around on this? I can’t progress on my mastery track until I save the Itzel or whatever they are called – and right now after 5 attempts I couldn’t care less if they get wiped out!!!

I’m actually trying to incorporate the word kitten into my real life vocabulary over the upcoming weeks as I have my parents visiting from overseas, and let me tell you, it doesnt matter how old you are – parents hate swear words! So I shall be kittening left right and centre in real life!

Oh and when I was able to play I had the lowest settings possible in game, and windowed mode, but it would still freeze and become unresponsive.

I’m currently installing the game as a fresh install on a fresh Win 10 install!

I had the same TDR video failure error with an Intel driver… Graphics were updated via the HP website, did everything right, but the game is still unplayable.mi did think for a few minutes it was ok, but the character select screen jumps and freezes, graphic blocks and missing faces/ body parts….

You need to submit a ticket to support unfortunately.

Have a look at the thread in Tech support that I did on Win 10. I’m not saying that will work for you but it might be worth a shot.

After a lot of trial and error I think I have resolved this issue.

It seems my computer is having an issue with DX12, so I had to edit the registry to set it back to a working version.

Regedit and locate the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectX

Find the value called “Version” with a data value of 4.09.00.0904 double click to change version from 4.09.00.0904 to 4.08.00.0904. Restart your computer and GW2 should be working.

I found this online and should have saved the link to post, so this is from memory. I am not guaranteeing this will sort out your computer, but it has done the trick on mine. (I’ve got a HP All-In-One) I’m not an expert or anything so if anyone knows a better way to do this then please share.

I upgraded to Windows 10 this morning. All went well, started GW2 was all fine, an hour later went back to play it loaded up to the character screen then went black and crashed to the BSOD with the following error message VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE igdkmd64.sys

As of yet I have yet to resolve this issue, but I’m Googling away in the hope I can find the answer. Putting this here in case any one else is having the same issues or can help.

The work around works initially, but as soon as you create another character it reverts back. Not sure I’m looking forward to the beta weekend if I am going to have to log in and out of GW1 to get my points back.

I wouldn’t be so narked with the whole process, but I never got the incorrectly GWAMM achievement and I never had the legit GWAMM achievement. Talk about being doubly punished!!!

Thanks Exeon. I’ve done that and it works, but as soon as I create a new character it re-sets the AP points, so I have to log back into GW1, and then back to GW2 and visit HoM and yeah it’s annoying as I am always re-rolling characters!

I wish we could mute annoying NPC’s. If I have to hear that child that says that ’ I saw a hunter with a doggy and it said woof’ or some such kitten one more time! Grrr!!!

I have re-rolled the same Asuran ranger as I really didn’t like the name and I got up to level 20 twice but it wasn’t sitting with me…. But I’m really finicky and enjoy creating and deleting lol…

Only you know if it is really going to bug you.

I put ‘wrongly removed’ in the title thread as it was removed wrongly, but I never had it activated in the first place to be removed!!! Confusing I know!!

Seera – I never had GWAMM. At all. Ever. I never got it in GW1 and when the bug happened my account wasn’t one of the ones that had it enabled. I have never had it!!!!

So – I thought the ‘issue’ was fixed. Just created a new character. And ta-da, in my in game e-mail is the lovely message saying my account was wrongly given the GWAMM and boom, there goes my AP and titles again! Really??? So I have to log back in to GW to reset this issue? Come on Anet, this just isn’t good enough. I appreciate that there will always be a few issues with any update but this is just really frustrating.

Ok, I logged back into GW1 then back into gw2 and it is sorted. Titles back, AP points back. Sorted! Phew!

I should have been more specific sorry. I never had GWAMM at all. Ever.

So I had an e-mail in game saying my account was wrongly given the GWAMM title and now it was being removed. I have no issue whatsoever in it being removed, but my account wasn’t one of those that it was awarded to!!!

I had GW1, had about 32/50 points and a few titles that went with it, but they have all gone. In GW2 I have lost AP, (I only had 2,500 odd anyway now I’m back to 2,200)

Um, anyone else had this issue?

I’ve just had an e-mail in game telling me I received the GWAMM title in error and it is being revoked. I wouldn’t have an issue with this, except my game didn’t have the GWAMM title given to it.

Yeah I sold something and the gold took a minute or two to appear. I had the initial ‘oh kitten’ panic, but the gold arrived a few minutes later.
