Their SEA is down to about 50% of what it was since they last bandwagoned. Probably less. It doesn’t take many people to hit 600 ppt against noone.
It wasn’t patch noted but was stated cap were reduced. Have a read through the WvW lag thread.
The map caps are about 10% lower than when I started looking into this. I’m not comfortable raising them higher right now. Sorry!

Well 2 years down the line and many NO WE ARE NOT ADDING GVG confirmations from devs and we still have GvG threads popping up on the front page. Infact the current one says “How GvG will work” insinuating that GvG has been a confirmed gamemode.

It is even more of a dumb mentality that you think 1 person is more important than an entire guild. Again, no fight guild is making anyone to play as they want, apart from themselves. If people just come unannounced and unwanted into a guild run they are making that whole guild play as they want, just so they can have a bit of fun without bothering to learn anything about combat or the class they play on.
I can build some siege, upgrade some keeps, repair some walls, and get inundated with abuse and spam reported. Yet a guild can’t go off somewhere and raid minding their own business without randoms coming in and ruining 2 guilds of fun like they have a right to. This doesn’t have anything to do with GvG being a separate game mode. Just guilds that want to do guild raids without interference. I don’t even care for GvG in it’s current state. Too many little johnnys who think they are more important than multiple guilds combined forcing them to play and spoon feed little johnny a little bit of fun for an hour or two on demand.

Is it so difficult to ask in map “Hey guy I’m new to WvW can someone teach me a few things I need to know?” Or even coming across a guild and asking them, “hey can I follow you guys?” Noone is ruining their game experiance by telling them they don’t want pugs to come along. Chances are if they are indeed new, they are just going to die on inc every time and have their own bad time regardless of who is around them. Just now that they decided they want to be forcefully apart of some guilds fights they are making it bad for them too.

[stOP] were in there as well on account of the immense size and ppt focus JQ has that time of day. When you have 400 ppt with 2 or 3 map blobs already in WvW there isn’t a whole lot else you can do.
It happens all the time. If people just want to learn new characters, train the guild, practice movements and work on synergy. Sometimes people just want a break from WvW maps too.
Don’t worry, DB will bandwagon up again in a few months. It is almost like HoD and DB take it in turns these days.
To say “vastly” is an understatement. YB has way more players playing early OCX than FA or SoS does.
I recommend to the OP to look at the MOS data to understand population levels. If FA were PvDooring, FA’s PPT would be dominating during OCX hours. It isn’t.

YB only have the midnight pvd train when they need to push ppt because the score totally matters.
FA are are indeed PvDooring every night. They can easily match combined YB and SoS numbers wise on any given night, it is just there are generally enough defenders for it not to be a complete walk over. Still go to door to door looking for easy champ bags though.
SoS has seen a recent resurgence in their OCX player base, and YB has 2 relatively small but quite active and enthusiastic guilds. Neither server would be a bad choice.

I looked at the post. I looked at the screen shots. None of it showed any indication of match interference. You can continue to sit here and cry more showing how much of a bunch of nancy’s the GvG scene is, not like Anet needs more of an excuse to not give a dam about you lot. Stronghold is your future now.
If you want to join in on guild raids then join a guild. You might think you are entitled to jump in everything a guild you aren’t in is doing, but you aren’t.
Ask the driver before you just take it upon yourself to jump in with them.

It’s kinda interesting how many people are sounding off about their distaste for “open field siege” without really reading the OP’s situation. Which is… trebs on a gate.
While the situation in question was just a treb on a gate, OP did ask about open field siege, as per the thread title. Treb on a gate isn’t exactly useful anyway, however that could have easily been an AC on a cliff, or a ballista on a hill, both of which could have been open field siege.

Open field is supposed to be the places where players can do whatever the crap they want, and you have absolutely no say what the “official” intentions for it are. I think open field siege is fantastic! You don’t like it? Noted, archived, forgotten. Don’t care, move along, cry more and whatnot. You can always go to not where siege is, right? Because y’know, siege is stationary.
Not false at all, and I didn’t say it was the official intentions of open field. Yes, you can build siege if you want. The point however, was that if two groups wanted to focus on player ability and guild teamwork then they find someone in open to field and do battle without having to worry about a tower or keep that is sieged up. Yes, we all know siege is stationary. People go to open areas because they know there won’t be any siege there. Instead, we get toxic ppters crying about everything all the time and just completely wrecking a good hard brawl, where player player competence matters. Not sitting on 5 AC on a gate and jamming 3 buttons at the front of a gate.
The fight focused guilds are trying to keep out of your way by taking it to open field and doing their business without siege interference. Yet they still can’t get a break with people coming in constantly and dumping siege around because they are too clueless and lack any sort of critical thinking to be able to understand the combat system and be good at fighting. If you don’t like open field fights, then don’t come out of your precious objectives. If you don’t like fighting in groups because you die in 3 seconds then stay in your objectives. Build siege when 2 groups are about to face off is the same as saying to your server friends, “hey, I really don’t think you guys are any good at this game at all so I’m going to sit here and not work in your team and try and improve my ability to play my profession”.
GvG guilds aren’t touching your objectives, so don’t touch their fights.

Night cappers aren’t so much of a problem compared to the day cappers.
Just kill him before he gets to tap it, that guy is horrid anyway and you can easily catch and kill them (or anyone) tapping OL. He has a strange fetish for tapping OL for hours at a time achieving nothing. No distracion, no fake pushes, they just really like to keep OL tapped. Same gate, same patterns, over and over. If you haven’t figured out how to deal with them then all the power to them.
It would be nice if the actually damage to the gate would be raised, or at least kill a guard before contest. It just doesn’t make sense that 1 damage can be compared to an actually all out assault equally.
I haven’t come across any lag in T1 or 2, roaming for blobbing, that proved to be crippling to gameplay. There was some a couple of days ago for a little while in a 3 way map queue fight but it was nothing more than weird minor lag that didn’t really stop me from doing what I needed to do.
tldr: As long as it doesn’t affect myself it is not a problem at all.

I didn’t imply it wasn’t a problem at all. Most people are having some sort of lag issue, it is just it isn’t affecting everyone. It does affect me, just not directly. If everyone around me is lagging then it detracts from being able to raid properly. If my driver is lagging, then he isn’t going to be steering in the right directions, nor is he going to be calling for different things I need to listen out for at the right time.
I don’t exactly have a cutting edge PC set up. My hardware is aging and dated, yet I am not experiencing the levels of trouble or barely any trouble at the moment that most people seem to be. Yet it still felt it important to mention that even with most people running into issues, there are some that are not. More information for Anet’s technicians the better.
Most importantly though, you managed to find a way to feel superior. Or maybe you just wanted another excuse to have a bit more of a cry at the expense of my good fortune.
T7, where it is so dead you have to run around for 2 hours to find anything to do.

Considering DB are losing 30+ rating 2 days into the match up the bandwagon has already died with their SEA PPT carry leaving/left as well as many NA guilds looking to move/left I’m not sure how you think DB are still a T2 competitive server.

And no, there is no necessity of finding one more server to make 6 balanced servers for match ups. It will never happen and it never needs to.
Yes, yet another DB bandwagon has fallen off the rails. Don’t worry though, the FA bandwagon is already in full swing. This game can usually hold 1 bandwagon at a time so Mag won’t really be the new dogpile server, not that they would tolerate it anyway. Now FA doesn’t have to compete with 3 other servers to stay in T2 they will continue to stay bloated for quite a long time to come. Easy guarantee wins every week just the way they like it.

Anyway, at this point there is only 2 T2 servers left. DB 14th bandwagon done for, FA’s “but but but its only player attrition” stacking shenanigans, SoS and YB are the only 2 left that are reasonably sized.
This should put T3 manageable matchups even with Mag stomping DB into the ground on every engage. mag shouldn’t come really very close to jumping into T2, at least in the mid term. Unless they get TFV or something crazy like that, rumours have it they are moving off but I’ll believe that when I see it.

If winning a matchup accurately reflects skill in battle, as well as actually being rewarded at the end of the week, maybe PPT would be worth a dam. But it doesn’t, and you don’t.

Not to mention they put in obsidian sanctum area for them… Theres also plenty of other open places for GvG. Nothing will ever be good enough for them though.
Every single acceptable area of map is also completely open to interference by everyone and anyone. Nothing is ever good enough, because there isn’t a system good enough.
It is only a minority because it gets smothered by the thousands of crying carebears that are completely horrid at actually PvP combat and the toxic PvP scene that too ignorant and clueless about everything outside their little conquest bubble. The resources it would take are minimal, hell they don’t even need to make a new map for it. Just use the failed concept of a map that was Capricorn. Make an open space in the middle and your are done. Even pushing custom maps to 20 cap will go a long way. What development are we even getting already? PvE? LS 2 started off great and then went horrid after the first patch, and got progressively worse. Oh, don’t forget all that gem store content.
Make a viable system, and the players will come.
I found that any small scale stuff is met with a ton of siege. Anything that resembles a nice good small scale scuffle results in them running off to get one siege or jamming map chat to get three times the people to run you over.
The small scale stuff in still there in T1, it just isn’t as fight focused as T2.

Outnumbered is already active for the entire map. Pity it is useless to actually counter a numbers disdvantage.

Get out from behind your siege, or run roaming groups that doesn’t consist have 10 people chasing 2 across the entire map and you might.
People still think SoS has 4 nightly map queues? So much kitten all up in here. Oceanic is worlds ahead in roaming than some clueless idiot who doesn’t play Oceanic but still think they are an expert.
That’s because it isn’t Anet fault or problem. You want change, blame the player base. They are alone responsible for the bonked match ups. The hordes of PvE karma trainers running blobs all night for easy champ bags jumping from server to server to the next bandwagon that decides to arise. The same people who quit after 1 week after they are too precious to handle random numbers on the WvW tab. People who think omg winning is the be all end all of WvW, when all you get for it is a few extra bonus chests for an entire week. As long as PvE fairwhether player base can train their way through WvW maps the WvW players will get boned each week.

with ppk, ppl will ensure they won’t die and always go in large groups. well that would end my solo roaming career or go full run away cheese tank mode.
Except PPK already happened and it turned out nothing like this. In fact, it was probably the opposite. People were out more often. There were more smaller groups as well as soloers. Fighting became higher staked, and people fought harder, making is far more exciting. People learnt and adapted to opponents build/tactics. Fighting really made a difference and PvD coverage was countered by actual PvP gameplay. If you died, you thought of ways to improve, or, “get gud”.
But in the end, I foresee ANet eventually nerfing Engineer Magnet pull soon (i.e. removing the unblockable component/making it a projectile like Scorpion Wire or Spectral Grasp with a travel time) and having it do damage instead.
The problem child in the room is Magnet pull.
It is already longer cast time than both, a longer cooldown than SW, has a blatant animation and graphic, not a combo finisher, doesn’t apply conditions as well as life force. It isn’t overpowered by any means compared to similar abilities, they are different. Advantages and disadvantages for all three to use in practice. What would be the point of having all 3 professions have identical abilities? That is just boring and unimaginative and doesn’t promote situational uses and profession viability/variety.

What’s the different between having a commander pull sniper and having periphery/gank quad? If the tag doesn’t have stab uptime for this to happen in big blobby messes (seriously how do they not have stability with so many people?) then they will get whats coming to them. Maybe they will learn to use boons to counter crowd control one day.
TLDR: push one of the T2 servers permanently into T3 by focussing it every week. Within one month it will implode and fall permanently out of T2.
So your “solution” is to just try and implode a server? That is utterly ridiculous, and would create more problems than it “solves”. If you want to stop kitten like this happening than you need to stop the cause of it all; bandwagons. Thankfully, bandwagons usually implode themselves fairly quickly. I’m sure DB is used to it by now.

I distinctly remember people talking about this in that “balance WvW” joke of a thread. This isn’t the first time this has been brought up. Although it is a new way to present this wrapped up in so much b.s. covering up the fact that OP can’t buy any more guilds after filling the server full of bandwagon karma train players and still is stuck in the T3 treadmill. If he wanted stability, balance and even footing across servers, then he wouldn’t have started a pointless and needless campaign to try and force his server into a tier that had no place or space for it.
Dynamic server population status’ need to be implemented though. Whether it is filters with an inactive period threshold ignored from being counted, or a separate system that measures WvW activity only.
