Out of 15,000 games played, you only played 4k ranked. I don’t know what you expect. Wtf were you doing in 10k + hot join games?

You can clearly see that they have 4k ranked, 2 k almost in unranked as well as almost 1k in the old solo que.

So maybe about 7k games in a queing form.

Also i would like to point out that HOT JOIN games used to be super fun 8 vs 8 when the game had underwater combat and other things.

Hot join only became bad once they released sky hammer and killed 5 vs 5.

Anet did a great job in destroying that huge part of the game. It used to be you didnt que up in ranked for the old school tickets, you went into GW2 to find a server for 8 vs 8 and they were always full.

Now no one plays in hot join, ( the spam would be crazy if they had 8 vs 8 now) very few players are playing ranked and to the OP.

Nothing will change for win streaks or losing streaks because the player gap in the game is huge simply because no one is playing it.

What i cant explain is why u playing in gold division, and ask such question.
I know the lack of tutorials is a problem, but really…. u cant see the timer 00:00 ?

The badges mean nothing.

Side note is that thunderbird in the top 10 still playing core ?

You know its bad when old school players are dominating with core builds if that is the case.

Difficulty is not realy an issue for players… people love challenges…
but if the ONLY difficulty is that its being annoying as hell then thats trash…

and hot maps are nothing else then annoying…

The HoT maps I found interesting. I now find some of the core Tyria maps to be rather dull.

But the OP said he was a PvP player. If he was a good one he would find HOT simply annoying.

In S5 of PvP i got to PLat 2 and ended in Plat 1 just 40 or so points away from a top 250 spot.

Alot of the PvP players i knew, ran threw raids. Simply adjusted PvE builds to finish the content quickly without fail. I mean 2 of them carried me threw a Xera run with 5 people.

So to point out, HOT wasnt challenging content for alot of players it was simply annoying.

This goes for everyone, the reason many people like me think it failed was because it simply ruined many aspects of the game.

HOT killed the PvP scene with GW2 losing ESL as well as ESL teams quiting 2 minutes into a match because the meta and HOT specs were just so bad. WvW had the same effect with 50 man zergs insta dying from the speed of which combat had changed without a way of fighting back.

Then you get to PvE where Anet failed in putting this " hard " content in certain areas. For instance when GW 2 first came out Orr was a difficult area to play in, the great argument was it was suppose to be. And there were 16+ other maps you could farm, explore, find JP, kill bosses in. They eventually nerfed Orr ( wasnt not a fan of that) and to me there was no reason to.

HOT comes out and no it wasnt hard but having to wait for a meta map timer in 3 maps and then having to coordinate bosses and completing events. They eventually came out with maps for the casual PvE crowd. They were not appealing to the X % of the player base while ruining PvP and WvW of the other player bases.

HOT unlike core GW2 did not give a little to everyone but simply gave to a certain player base which was coordinated PvE.

So of course there is more threads about HOT being annoying since HOT brought alot in one area and killed off others.

I know people who PvP and WvW all the time who don’t do well in HoT content. Being a PvP player doesn’t give you some special secret powers to be good at everything . Just saying.

More to the point,j one of the guys in my guild is most a WvW player, plays a ton of PvP and didn’t find HoT annoying at all. He enjoys it as a break from PvP and WvW.

You can’t paint everyone with one brush. It’s still an opinion and you can’t even know that you have some sort of majority there. It changes nothing I said

See this is my point, you never take into accounts what anyone is saying.

Alot of people are saying they do not like it and you always counter argu with well i like it and my friends like it.

You never take into account the facts such as Anet having to combine 3-4 servers together for WvW when before HOT they didnt have combine any servers.

Or the fact that players where in the 1800 for ratings for PvP and then it was high 16XX because alot of players left.

We wont take that into consideration or the fact Anet kept saying " going back to basics" when bringing out that POF trailer.

Im happy for you and your friends and glad you love the game as much as you too. Yet you jump on the forums and defend it without ever really saying much other then " i can do it, my guild members do it and therefore its not a issue " which isnt the case for what seems to be alot of the GW2 community since the selling rate of HOT was really really low.

But i guess we will see when POF comes out.

If you could read, when Anet HOT they did not make new specs available to get in the WvW so ill just assume you missed it.

Also how is 5 necros dropping whole 50 man zergs with 1 skill ( epidemic) a good thing? Please more perma stealth and instant rez builds please !!!!!!

Thats fine in dont need your approval to know i played WvW. Or the people i played with and the people you speak about for 15 vs 15 are also the ones asking for Guild vs Guild stuff.

This is not the same group of people who are looking to defend and conquer BL. Ive been on CD since Pre and we were a Solo Tier 2 server at one point and it wasnt because of population. It was because of communication and players 2-3 of them protecting camps and bot towers.

I mean it took forever for Anet to implement new-fun- rewarding things to WvW that alot of the players we are talking about are no longer real WvW players which is why its dying.

Obviously there are people who like gliding, i personally dont think its good in WvW and you argue strategy which once again is your point but its frustrated the last of the WvW players i know.

Then you bring up the players that want G vs G and they are simply players looking to fight one another. If Anet just opened up a battle ground where players could fight whether it was in the Open world or in there own instance, they would be happy.

We are suppose to be talking about the real WvW players. And no i can not call myself one of them since i have not really WvW since HOT. But i knew many people who finished all there WvW AP and were above ranks 4k.

Many of them have been upset about the many things brought into WvW that is changing the identity of it.

Calls us old dogs, get off my lawn players. But if you started 3 sports Leagues and WvW was Hockey, Basket Ball was PvP and PvE was Golf. You cant just start mixing rules from one into another and think it will make the game better. It will make some players happy and others not which will only drive away players.

Yes, but if you want to argue about how horribly wrong gliding in WvW is, you should also notice that when HoT was released, you were not able to glide in WvW. And yet, WvW suffered. So it was NOT the gliding that hurt WvW.

They created desert BL maps for HoT clearly gliding in mind, and yet, refused to add gliding into WvW when releasing HoT. Why? I dunno, but it was the reason desert maps were so badly received.

And how would exactly mounts “ruin” the WvW? If you want to argue about that too, we can make another topic for it or go on in this.

HOT ruined WvW by introducing new specs that were not meant for zerg fighting.

The ability to apply condi repeatedly over and over in sec forced certain zerg comps and then epi necro came into play. Also the nerfing on certain skills made them less useful in PvE and PvP such as rifle warrior.

HOT also ruined things by not allowing WvW players to play the new specs without doing PvE. With a much much more.

But once again you are trying to use to argue PvE in WvW. WvW players did not want this and PvE players pushed for the new BL map that Anet made for WvW. WvW players wanted the ability to fight on different plains, attack structures differently and be able to have more choke points in fights.

Gliding literally takes away many things the real WvW players wanted. Im talking the players with 3k 4k 5k+ WvW abilities.

Like for instance in did not play WvW much since the WvW leveling system came into play. Im still around 1k levels in WvW but i have most of my WvW AP done and the ones that are not in are T5 and over half done and i havent played WvW much since HOT.

Gliding effects the way fighting is done in WvW. The immersion of zergs fighting in a tower/keep with players able to either glide into a fight or away takes away from many aspects of WvW.

Also the mount thing is something Anet would implement without testing. For instance Anet allowed POF specs in WvW and zergs were finding bugs making the whole server crash.

Its just one of those things where when you need balance in a game, with the track record ANet has with GW2 it wont happen and there will something wrong with mounts in WvW, sord of like Gliding in WvW.

WvW is not like PvE where if some may like or some dont they can do other things. Like if you are a PvE players you could be a raider, a map completionist, Ap hunter, skins collector, a farmer etc etc etc.

If you play in WvW you are there to WvW and thats it, Anet keeps bringing in PvE ideals into WvW without giving them the WvW spin on it. Its why i bring up HOT specs, HOT specs were made for the raid bosses. Increased combat speed, more healing, boons, damage and lower CD’s. They make raids what they are but they did not see what would happen to PvP and WvW.

In PvP fights never ended and in WvW fights ended almost immediately, things brought into another game mode need to have looked at from that view.

Sadly Anet hasnt and many PvE players who want more PvE stuff in WvW are in a sense killing WvW since WvW was its own game type and it needed its own changes.

For instance new upgrades or choices for keeps or towers, new weapons or defense/sustain/offensive tactics.

With a new Guild Hall that requires thousands of gold for WvW upgrades, you would think Anet would have given WvW something, instead they split the community again with gliding and in the future mounts. You dont grow a community by killing the veterans and bringing in casual PvE players who are not willing to fight or die for something like defending the BL tower or keep.

Sure, I would probably love the mounts in WvW. They required literally 1 minute to unlock in the preview zone, you were not able to mount while fighting (tho you were able to to start the fight with mount attack skill) and they provided nice speed boost. I see no reason for mounts to be excluded from WvW based on that.

Gliding works exactly same in WvW as it does in PvE. You CAN use gliding while in fight to run away from monsters, you should be able to same in WvW. There are even boss battles that require to use gliding. Did PvE decline and crumble because of such horrible decisions? Nah, it’s fine.

I mean there has been a significant drop off in skilled game play as well as tactics since the release of HOT in both areas of the game. Does PvE notice it? Of course not because things like raids and fractals are time based situations which are far more about rotations then actual skill.. PvE players, grinders, farmers, etc etc, they all love it because game play itself is easy to understand and easy to play.

Having to actually coordinate a attack and think about where to attack as well as exit strategies were too hard. Now we just glide away and its a joy for alot of the new PvE players who want to get WvW rewards.

But i do agree with you, if Anet brings in gliding to WvW. Why not WvW mounts as well?

It is no different from thieves stealthing and mesmers blinking, people are losing and trying to get away from the fight. Gliding works fine atm, it provides extra safe way out same way you could run and hide in tower that your server controls.

There is no point fighting to the bitter end and dying.

Wow and Anet wonders why WvW is declining.

Maybe its because they listened to PvE players who never really liked defending camps to upgrade towers and keeps and spend actual time defending towers, keeps and camps.

Its one thing to escape a fight by out maneuvering your enemy or pulling a good invisibility ability in a spot people are not looking. Its another when people just jump away and glide off.

There is a reason Anet needs to link 3 servers together for that 1 Border Land to get max people, its because of horrible decisions like Gliding without checking it first, or Golem Run frenzy or HOT Necro EPI for the win.

Some people may like gliding in WvW and thats fine but you should work out the kinks before just throwing it in there which Anet didnt.

At this point its obvious Anet doesnt think about much when implementing anything into the game.

I truly dont understand how people can make posts like this when the condi explosion in this game broke PvP and WvW.

Why would it matter what the intentions are?

If i make a cream pie but it taste like ice cream would anyone call it a cream pie? No they would call it a pie that tastes like ice cream.

Ill end it with this, in PvP every class utility skills are used for condi removal or stun breakers, it forces classes into a certain set up that makes other builds not as good by a large margin.

In WvW whole zergs are dropping because Anet intended for certain classes to be better but guess what they worked better with condi traits.

So to people who posts about condi, stop it and ask for better balance.

Thief alone is a bad sign without players like Caed, Muffins and Areoxe on it. ( unless i cant read and missed it)

Lets not put out a serious list of the best players in the game when a big percentage dont play anymore and/ or have been banned from the game.

Season 8 best players are 2-3 legendarys followed by a bunch of players in gold3 /plat 1 even though they really are gold 1 but dont know it since about 5 people are qued at the time with in there skill range.

If they don’t play any more or have been banned, then who the f are they? They don’t exist. Why would anyone care who WAS good when talking about season 8?

If we are talking about competitively and you are fighting for a top 250 spot you want it to be legit right?

Like you dont want to be that guy ranked in the top 100 best players in the game and then some old Pro from TOL or WTS 1 and come and crush you with 0 titles. Examples in season 5 Darek or ThatESLGuardian played DH and i saw him a few times and he wrecked me each time.

For example you make top 50. You are now on this Leader Board, the games top 50 leader board and you got a little statue in the game for a tournament win. Anet decides to hold a real tournament and some players come back. These OLD players with top 250 titles come in and wreck you and your team of current top 50 players. It doesnt do much for the community.

If we are talking from a spectator point of view. Its exactly like the Jon Jones thing for MMA. This list shows the current top players in GW2. Thats great, its awesome. Except these are not the new breed of players, they are the old ones who are simply playing.

So we crown a new champ proclaim him the best but then everyone asks who is the best thief. You have to say ohh its NEW PLAYER hes great on theif but he gets a little asterisk.

Why you ask? Because the best player on theif actually plays another game and could easily come back and beat new best theif, poor new player.

So to answer your question in the basic form, do people still care about Jordan? Or Fedor? Tiger Woods? Pele? Tyson/Ali?

Like these dudes dont even compete anymore who are these trash guys? Ohhhh thats right all the players who competed in actual tournaments and won when we had a leader boards actually on the forum.

But hey just my point of view

Also the condi issue where players said they had to play X build. I have ran full trap ranger since the game has started as well as s/s warrior in PvP and WvW.

It was harder to play condi but dont say you had to use condi. After the patch to open condi like burns, poison and others. Its turned GW2 into condi spam fests.

For instance in PvP players will say ohhh but power builds are the meta and other players will have to respond with no. The ranger and engy are bruiser supports, ele is a heal bot, rev became irrelevant after some nerfs and the main classes that every team needs to succeed is a condi mesmer and condi necro.

You then go to WvW where entire 50 man zergs are insta dying from a epi from 3-4 necros.

It might have been harder to play condi before HOT but after HOT the game has infested with condi.

Also you are speaking as someone looks at timers for events, probably knows the guilds and commanders who coordinate the events.

The GW2 player base had a huge casual crowd who consisted of farming and exploring the world. These players are running into issues like going into a map realizing its on a timer. Waiting for 30 min for the event to start only to realize they are on the dead map when only 5 people are in Orge lane.

When you go into PvP or WvW your just gonna lose out to bigger armies or better players. In HOT you can literally feel trolled by Anet with how things have been set up in HOT.

Example- For instance my guild and i ran around in VB doing events leveling up the instance. We got moved because the map was dead, now of course everyone could say this was our fault for staying on a dead map. Be it as it may, the map we were in was at 3 and we would of not made it to 4.

We got moved to a map at 1, we did not feel like doing the events again. Once again that could be blamed on us but we just want to play the game. And at times GW2 has made the game feel like work instead of fun with some of the events which has crossed alot of people.

Not saying you since you want to call this evolved but im pretty sure Anet doesnt since in the POF talks they kept saying “going back to basics”.

Long before HoT came out, people complained about the zerker meta forcing people into certain builds. And there have always been people who ignored it and played anyway. The game hasn’t changed.

Yes, it’s horrible to have to go to a timer site, except that this situation existed long before HoT. If you wanted to do world bosses, long before HoT launched, you needed to go to a timer site. If you wanted to do the great jungle wurm or the fire ele or the frozen maw, or the shadow behemoth, it’s been many years and you’ve had to look at a timer site all that time. That changed long before HoT.

I know it’s very fashionable to blame HoT for every ill this game has, but those things changed long long before HoT was released, or even announced. The game has changed, that’s true. Some might even say it evolved.

That’s not entirely true with timer sites to be honest. The HoT Metas and world bosses are a world apart, both in difficulty and style. I never needed a timer site for any of the world bosses. And with the mega server change, they did go on a schedule, which has been years, maybe needed to look at a timer more whenever I needed a specific boss, which is rearely to be honest. Also rewards for worldbosses are barely worth mentioning, while for some of the current metas that is exactly where you get alot of materials.

Dragon’s Stand is worse than the other metas though, most of the rewards are behind a successful run, however… the biggest problem is that it does not even start if you don’t have 15 people. I can’t comment on how difficult it is with 15 people or whichever, though I have no doubt it might as well be possible.

The problem in my opinion is that it’s another hurdle to even start to get the ball rolling. If you can start it and do the events, then you can get some loot from the events as well as a possibility for more people to actually start and attempt to finish the meta. More often than not it’s possible to finish the meta successfully.

It’s really annoying to stand there and realise you need to get 15 players together otherwise you can’t do anything in Dragon’s stand. And I think the game doesn’t need that 15 player minimum to protect people from “failure”. I rather try and fail than not being able to try at all.

You never needed a timer? So if you wanted to do the fire ele, you’d just rock up there and sit around for two hours until it spawned again.

World bosses have been on timers since the game got mega servers, which was well before HoT launched. If you want to do a world boss, a specific world boss, your options are to know what time it spawns, or to look it up on a timer…or to stand around and wait, perhaps hours, in a zone until it does.

When this game first came out and about 1-2 years into it.

My guild would just have players announce it. For instance im in The Jormag Area and the crystals pop. Im not in there just goofing around, i was either farming or map completing and from here i told my guild and before that you would go to LA to announce.

You remember that before mega servers? I use to do it all the time for WvW. Like we need help in CD borderland T3 bay about to be taken and then a large group of people from CD would go to defend.

I have only looked at the timer when Anet starting putting out easter egg events where i needed to do X boss to complete X achievement to get X item. You can call this evolved but i do not, its different.

I and many others have said it can be hard to get into meta maps especially ones where people are there to do the event.

Peoples arguments are “use LFG” or outside the game tools and other what nots.

I personally couldnt find many maps when i was playing in the HOT areas. Another guild member got in them easily but he was looking for them. Another guild member who was playing on a Mac would get kicked out of the maps if they were to full and he lose his spot and rewards which was really dumb since some events are 1 hour long.

Vayne will argue to death that we are all incorrect. I personally have kids and a job and when i come into the game i wasnt looking at timers. I go into PvP do a few matches and if i had time go into the HOT areas.

Its why HOT was a total miss for me. Hot is what PvE players claim is hard content and as someone who played alot of PvP i didnt find how it was difficult.

HOT killed build diversity and is still forcing players into certain roles. Obviously from a balance team stance it would be easier but you see alot of complaints because raids are not about skill, the HOT areas are not about skill, and then the introduction of more PvE stuff into PvP and WvW.

Anytime you say the beauty of GW2 is the play your way play style and then completely trash it with HOT, it hits the player base.

To me HOT maps will turn into what GW2 core maps look like once Anet implements the new reward currency in the new expansion as well any new shinys you want which will have to do for the expansion.

But just like the recent patch, it will take 3-4 years for Anet to change anything and then everyone will go why now?

Oh wait GW 3 will come out ……….

I played war in season 5 and they got pooped on by a good dh, doesn’t matter what your build is or how good you are. They then nerfed war way too hard and gave dh a slap on the wrist, all while silver scrubs where complaining about warriors “stunlock kills”.

Anet needs to include a minimum MMR in the pvp forums if you ever want warriors to be good.

Alot of people have asked for ranks showing in the forums.

For instance the bronze/silver/gold players complaining about X class is completely different from what plat/legendary players are asking for in the case of balance.

For me Anet had a chance S5 to do this but they couldnt even get Leader Boards back into the Leader Board forum.

As someone who mained warrior and ele in PvP. Warrior has been the worst class since HOT.

Season 1 and 2 it was the class that if you were a average player running a meta build you could beat any warrior build.

Season 3 they got some love and it was usable till S6. I dont know about S7 since i didnt really play.

PvP dominated by power builds and yet conditions are the the problem. Always funny. I’d provide a counter argument but they already exist in the thousands of other condi QQ threads that have been likewise dismissed by Anet.

I wouldn’t count on condi changes. New game modes? Not likely, but more realistic chance of happening. It’s at least possible.

You have support builds and bruisers like heal bot ele. Engy and ranger support healer whose jobs is to sustain 1 vs 1 and heal other players.

The main players in 5 vs 5 teams typically are necros and mesmers who play mostly condi.

Even warrior was better in its condi form then power when it came to fights because you had to play a certain way to avoid condi damage where as the passives from certain skills, invulnerability make it hard for power warrior to survive.

Also condi application forced the meta into the game. Because 1 mesmer or 1 necro and apply such huge amounts of condi in 2-3 sec you need to run certain skills to remove condi. This goes for every class.

Before HOT you could be on a team where 1-2 players skills were based on movement or CC which brings up the next problem.

There is 2 much CC, with all the condi going around it makes sense why we have builds the way we do.

A condi thief Maygi ran d/d and its basically a signet for more dodges, a ability to stun break, stun break or condi removal and what ever pick of elite skill. Got to plat2 or what ever running this 3 then dodge skill.

So yes you are correct that there are alot of power builds in the game but run into that combo of a necro mesmer who apply a ton of condi and are impossible to kill because they have support player around them.

The meta is based off of team condi sources of damage.

This was one of my biggest complaints with HOT. Boons was number 1 but the blurring of what roles people can play.

For instance rangers and DH who drop traps and run the rune that allows them to go invisible. I felt this was a bit much.

Then you had engys with gyros. I couldnt believe this, i loved the moa for 3 sec on the tool belt but the passive gyros were a horrible style of game play. I mean befoer a player needed to use a skill to down someone. On ele i used the mist form stomp, like i had a utility skill that had a 60 sec CD to stomp people by its a passive skill for a engy.

This game was so good when they were attempting to balance core classes. Like GW 2 was fun to play.

With more and more expansions coming out and the lack of attention WvW and PvP gets, i assume PvP will only get worse.

Map design should not be how you say something is innovative or not. Obviously its hard to say nothing is crazy new with all the MMO out there but the maps?

The way gliding was put in there, yes that was great with the updrafts and lines. very cool. The way you get them ummm very basic. pick a line and get XP. Aion and many other games had gliding.

Also you picked the very easy AP to do so please i think we will end it there with that. Obviously there are many rinse and repeat quests and achievements as well as very easy ones.

Another point, no new tiers of gear? So from exotic to ascended to legendary and now legendary trinkets. I must of missed the memo where there are no new tiers of gear.

Many games before did not raise the level bar either so thats not new either especially with GW1 and many games taking into the skill and acquiring different skills as a way of progression.

So to use your example HOT is a movie and its called Before i Fall, its about a girl who repeats her day.

Yet games like WoW, Aion, Champions Online City of Heros are Ground Hogs Day. Its a movie about a guy who repeats each day.

The reason you like Before i Fall better and why its innovative is because the lighting in the movie is so much better.

Like i said before Anet took other ideas and things in other games and put the GW2 shiny bow on it.

I agree that its a PvE game now.

You couldnt say that before with many people being WvW and PvP only players like with teh lady who interviewed MO and he said " if you play WvW you play PvE" which turned alot of people off.

I just wanted to point out that Vayne, you said “WvW was never on life support” and that is clearly incorrect.

Also the declining PvP and WvW population obviously has no effect on the PvE scene. But your acting as if i havent played the game.

I have almost 29k AP and recently quit playing, you can sit here and say they were " innovative" maybe at the start of GW2. You can not say that HOT was since it took bits and pieces of other games such as Aion and City of Heros. (other NCSoft games)

The game has felt repetitive since HOT, with only 4 maps to play. Achievements like do X meta event 100 times. Do X meta event to collect items to craft new items and repeat for 3 of the maps.

Dont say its innovative when they put the GW2 spin on something thats been done 1000 times.

As for the expansion they talked alot about going back to the roots of GW2. That would lead me to believe that HOT didnt go in the favor of those clamoring to the defense of HOT as a whole.

Once again i dont like HOT but if other people do, more to ya. Yet i will not pretend as if the games population hasnt downed because it has and i will not pretend Anet did something amazing because they took a old toy and put a new bow on it and called it innovative.

It’s funny. ANet tried some really visionary things for an MMO closer to the start of the game. Things like no levels, easy acquisition of BiS stats, and a near-universal reward currency, with RNG playing little role beyond getting Precursors. The MMO fan base said no to all of that, either directly, or by taking actions which were bad for the health of the game.

As to the “recycled” comment. Yeah, what the heck do you mean by that?

I dont know how you can say that.

Literally its like 50/50 from the people i know.

Many of us loved the LW with the dungeons, World Events and so on. Like the destruction of kessex hills and LA were amazing.

Then you have the other 50% who said " look what i missed out on, thats not fair" and voiced complaints.

Anet probably saw the issue of time. They spend time to create events where people might or might not have time to play it. They have gone very traditional with how this MMO is.

I mean Guild halls are a grind, unlocking new specs are kind of a grind. I mean in GW1 you had to do story, events to unlock skills. Ok that made sense, HOT you really just pick a path to learn and gather XP.

Dont know how you could comment on health of the game from the LS differences. heck PvP and WvW have been on life support for the past 2 years.

WvW has never been on “life support”. It certainly has less players than it did years ago, but that doesn’t equate to life support.

More to the point, it doesn’t matter what 50% of the people anyone knows says, because it’s too small a sampling to be meaningful.

But saying this game has gone traditional when it had an expansion that neither raised the level cap or added a new tier of gear is a bit disingenuous.

Did they add raids? Sure they did. But the raids are still different from raids in most games I’ve played.

I’ve played a LOT of MMOs and this game isn’t anything like most of them…in my opinion anyway.

Ok lets just take it from a real perspective then and not take into account who said what and what nows.

Gw2 WvW players were wanting unique items, some upgrades and different things when HOT came out. The WvW community didnt like it and servers died.

I am on Crystal Desert and before HOT we would fill the servers out by ourselves on Friday night. Before the big WvW patch and now a few weeks after it, 3 servers combined sometimes fills up a border land.

The PvP scene has been dying since the release of HOT with some of the worst metas any game probably has ever seen. Just recently the best team from NA was perma banned from the PvP scene. As well as former PvP players who left the game for months came back for 1 week to win the EU monthly tournament because there is no new blood coming into the scene.

That aside we were talking innovative, Anet said they would not have you go into a cave and collect 10 wings. With the recent map releases that had you repeat 4 hearts each day to make a back piece. The LIVING STORYS are instance like many old time dungeons.

Lets just be frank, the introduction of mounts is not innovative, the way you uprade them yes. The specs and upgrading them yes even though it was very GW1 like. So yes Anet has hit marks with some of hits world events.

But please dont talk as if PvP and WvW didnt hit serious low points because of HOT. At 1 point in WvW my server was combined with 3 other servers. Thats 4 servers on 4 maps and we couldnt fill them.

PvP is literally filled with Alt accounts by the masses of the ESL level players who are near the point of done. You can check there discord chats as well as the fact that hardcore players like helseth are playing other games seriously instead of GW2.

If you main PvP or WvW in GW2, its time to get out.

My guild which consisted of 100 or so people back for GW2 has died with only 2 people logging in constantly. ( i did not count myself since i take monthly long breaks now)

Anet said in the Angry Joe interview that the new specs would NOT be stronger then core specs but simply add a different style.

They lied, also the PvP seasons have been horrible with grind to legendary S1-4 and match manipulation 5-7 and some of the worst match making a game can put together.

If you enjoy GW2 PvP then enjoy it for what it is, lets not pretend that Anet will do anything for the betterment of PvP or WvW.

I understand why from a moral point of view when we talk about what is right and what is wrong in the purest sense.

Heres the thing, Anet did nothing when smurfing was done Seasons 1-4. How many strikes would that be? Players were purposely teaming up with another elite players 2-3 badge levels below to make the game easier. Ok since Anet does nothing there, we as the community need to adjust to the culture Anet is providing.

There were players caught cheating in the Pro League and they got a 1 year ban. This was in a tournament that had money involved for the players and the sponsors of the teams. From a business stand point it has to look bad when you get sponsors involved and people are cheating. A player on a pro team played for another player, literally pretended to be that other person.

Then we get to Seasons 5-7 where ESL level caliber players are running 2-4 alts in the top 250. Not all of them but some were and that means 1 players is taking the rewards for what should be X amount of players getting. All of a sudden we are in a grey area for me since you can use these alt accounts to set up matches for yourself. Once again the community realizes this and adjusts. There was a thread where ESL players were calling out other ESL players for cheating and comments were removed because they exposed X players alt accounts. In S5 i was almost plat 2 and was literally 30 points away from making the top 250 but i went the other way. Thats fine but with thise response from Anet im like huh? Because i felt a little cheated knowing that 1 player had 3 titles and another had 3 as well. Guess what, I deal with it and understand that its ok. I wasnt good enough to make top 250, its over i understand.

So we get to know, The Abjured played on alt accounts. This is not unheard of, they played fairly and won. Heck Jeff and his team knew and Olruns team knew they were facing the Abjured, they were not cheated. They simply were not good enough to win. This is what Anet has taught us for 7 seasons. For THREE YEARS this is what the NA scene has been for PvP.

Instead people reported this because for what ever reason. Morality, ideology of whats right, the “rules” which we are now implying now.

Heres the thing, in raids Guilds have gotten in game gold for running people threw helping them get AP and legendary gear. Ive heard of Guilds asking for “gifts” items that can be bought from the gem story for real money and given to X Guild for a full run threws if they didnt have in game gold. Players can spend real money to buy legendarys and other items in the game.

Yet these players spent real money to get in game titles they could not get other wise. To me the Abjured could of said no we will sign in under our names and win it for the titles and gear. But they didnt, they provided a service to players and they delivered.

I dont see anything shady especially since the other elite teams knew. I didnt see anything wrong in game because they did not use hacks or cheats. Jeffs team actually should of won. ( it was a great game )

You cant sit here and tell me its ok for Anet to charge money all over the place. For Anet to allow raids to be ran the way they have been ran as well as the way PvP seasons have gone 1-7.

To now perma ban the best team in NA.

Ill give a example, I work at a Hotel and we are a mid tier hotel. Not the nicest of the nice but better then most.

Ive learned that in many other countries there are in house escorts if the guests choose to do so. Ive been asked from people who came from Germany, Sweden, Australia and Canada.

Now i could be like Anet and Jebro and get really mad and frustrated and report the person and let what ever happens. Or i can simply say hey no im sorry we do not provide that here, maybe in Vegas but not here in Seattle.

To me Anet, Jebro, Olrun, this community got upset and put there own views on a situation without taking in any context. This is my opinion and how ive looked at this juicy situation.

Its only wrong if you look at it a certain way. I look at people having multiple alts taking up spots on the leader board worse then what the Abjured did. They played on alt accounts and won a tournament.

Alot of upper PvP players are just salty because they lost and now some PvE players will have unique titles that they dont want them having.

And lower end players are trying to apply there ideology on what is the “right” thing to do and im not seeing it.

If somebody is skilled enough and has time enough to keep multiple accounts at the top of the leaderboard, they deserve those positions same as anybody. They very clearly aren’t exploiting or doing anything wrong if those accounts are all kept at a legend level.

Why is what the Abjured did is EXPLOITING but if i pay someone to carry me threw a raid, or threw a fractal or in previous seasons people paying players to carry them to Legendary?

That person who is at that level is taking away from other players in the game. Like if the 10 best players in the game decided to buy 10 accounts, then the top 250 players in the game are literally 5 players.

When people cheat at other aspects of the game, they are hurting no one. Literally effecting nobody, yet when the Abjured play on alt accounts they get perma banned.

Im just trying to understand what makes these things so different being they are so similar.

Someone used a great example in the new legendary thread.

If i make a sword or buy what makes it ok? If i dont have the ability to make a sword in game, i can buy off the TP or buy it from someone who can make me a sword.

All that is happening now is the control over how the sword is made.

This person with 5 accounts in the top 250 is stealing the potential chances of other players to get swords. Thats my view on it.

This is not referencing the Abjured at all lol. Carrying accounts for money mixed with match manipulation to guarantee wins on said accounts is a problem and I am not arguing that is right at all.

This is a very separate discussion with regards to a normal player having an alt or two to play on without the same stress ranked can bring playing on a main. Having multiple accounts and playing legitimately on them is not taking anything from anybody nor exploiting in any way, shape, or form. There are many people that play fair and square and have multiple accounts in the top 250. If they take spots with alts over what you can get with your main, then that’s simply your fault for not being up to that level.

Also, if 10 players buy 10 accounts a piece, that’s 100 people total, not 250. Top 250 being 5 players would be 50 accounts a piece. Your math is a bit odd here. If somebody can keep that many accounts that high over what you can do with a single main, then you’ve got problems.

There was no match manipulation. It was a tournament and they simply won. Didnt cheat in any way.

Also people can pay real money to get gems to get legendarys, other items and even titles such as the " im so rich title".

Raids also take in game gold but they also take “gifts” that take real money to buy.

Lastly yes my math was wrong but i was just using a example. I dont understand how that is fair in your view and what they did was wrong.

The Abjured played a tournament on alt accounts and won. Thats it, the rest of the stuff is just fluff to change the narrative of the story. Yet if a player has 7 accounts and takes 7 spots on the top 250 board where exclusive prizes and titles are awarded. There is nothing wrong with that.

While I get why they were banned… And I understand the ToS, I can also understand why they thought this would be okay to do—given anet’s long history of being fine with people selling raid clears and achievements.

The competitive nature of sPvP certainly sets it apart, but Legendary Armor and PvE Achievement Titles are devalued every day by people selling them in LFG… I don’t really see how buying your little crown is technically any different from an ethical standpoint.

You didnt really acount share for raid sells and achievements nor did it hapoen with rl money on the line. Also if someone in pve sells raids it doesnt devalue your experience of the raid while when ppl in a competitive environment in a pvp tourney are decieved and lose the match that ruins their experience.

If those people weren’t selling you still would have had to have beaten them on their main accounts to win… It’s not like the top PvP players are just going to sit out the monthly tournament. The only disadvantage you’re at is that you don’t know it’s them, so all the hours you spent studying their twitch didn’t help.

You still played against the top players, so how is your experience devalued? Let’s be honest, the saltiness is because people are buying titles and icon flares that you want or maybe even earned, thus making them seem not as cool—same as legendary armor or Demon’s Demise being purchased.

Why is it ok for them to accept rewards for multiple accounts yet The Abjured for playing on others peoples accounts?

Anet allows gold for raids/gifts ( people paying Anet real money for gifts so a guild can run people threw raids for the AP, then giving them those gifts) and now all of a sudden this is immoral ?

The PvP wanted serious rewards and claim for being good at PvP in this game. Guess what none of that happened. Bronze and silver players grinded to Legendary season 1-4.

Still no leader board, match making makes little to no sense and the meta is horrible.

Yet we want to punish players for not playing on there main accounts? And the players they beat in the tournaments will continue playing alt accounts and getting rewards from being top 250 in the Leader Board and playing in AT on alt accounts?

Seriously am i missing something?

I could be wrong, but from how I interpreted it, the problem was the account sharing moreso than selling the wins. I think they were playing on accounts that didn’t belong to them, not on their own alt accounts, and so that’s why they got the permaban. (Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong though. :P)

But from the community side, why is there this disdain when the ESL community have been doing this for years?

On multiple threads people are talking about the PvP scene and the integrity of the game. Yet for the past 3 seasons you have 1 person claiming 5 top 250 prizes.

Heck if i played 100 games and because i work full time and my wife decided to play the other 50-60 games needed for me to make top 250 is that account sharing.

Or how about im on a PvP team and i have to leave for work because these tournament times are different and my wife steps in for me and my team. Is this gonna get me perma banned? And my wifes accounts?

Seems unjust to me with everything thats happened.

Anet has been catering to the PvE players who grind.

Legendaries that are account bound, PvP to hard. Guess what you dont have to be good at to get Legendary Titles, dont have to win matches to get XP. Wait what getting Xp in PvP to hard, Anet says for you we will ruin PvP.

PvE players say yeah but players still kill us in WvW, Anet says dont worry PvE players. They can non longer show there PvP ranks in WvW and taunt you.

Anet has been really focusing on group vs boss mechanics and destroying fun in the rest of the game that upsets introvert PvE players.

I keep mentioning alt accounts but everyone is like ohhh thats different.

Im like we all know certain players on both sides. For instance X person was ranked number 1 in S5 and if im not mistaken he had 2 other alts in the top 50.

Why is this acceptable but for the Abjured to play on other peoples accounts?

Like there must be some be unwritten rules in the community i dont know about.

I always wondered why we never had Legendary base defenders like pvp did in GW1. Instant 1-shot if you got within range. Something like that would be nice, if feasible.

We cant do that, that would solve the problem. We need invulnerability and all the potential bugs that come with it. Jeez this guy trying to come up with ideas that actually fixes stuff, unreal. ( sarcasm, plz children)

No, im not upset with the game. I simply dont like the meta and the speed of PvP. Im simply pointing out the ethics of the game.

Take away the salt that some of them are showing right now. Some of the comments are about how they lost X or did X.

Talking about how MT cant win X. They still won the tournament so even the community has serious salt towards the players.

Im not the only one who see’s it. I understand that Jebro can ban them, i understand why Anet perma banned them but my question is simply why and why now?

Aeroxe did the same thing on the thread where Anet banned them, other players have been caught cheating in Pro League, during the seasons, X players have been known to use hacks which are taken down from the forum, people who smurf etc etc etc etc.

Aeroxe simply asked the question of why a life time ban when people who did the same thing got a 1 season ban.

Alot of people are saying NOW Anet wants it to be taken seriously and i just dont believe it. I seem to be missing what everyone is upset with.

In Seasons 1-4 you saw terrible players get legendary titles. Smurfing to create advantages with alt accounts from all these Pro players.

In S5 threw S7 you saw the exact same thing and, you guys say to report it to Anet. Im sorry but the same people who get reported for legit hacking, legit quitting etc etc etc.

They got the smallest slaps on the wrists if anything. Anet has done next to nothing to protect the integrity of the game.

So just from my point of view Anet created this type of atmosphere in the game. For me it doesnt matter that they took PvE players accounts and got them a tournament win.

All i saw was 2 teams play and 1 team won and everyone got upset. I dont understand why everyone is upset when this type of behavior was acceptable for nearly 3 years. For me i thought we had all adjusted to the ethics and morals of GW2.

We have seen a terrible meta for nearly 3 years.

I think you have finally gotten to them and they woke and said hey we should fix some of this stuff.

You answered your own question. AT is a new thing for ANet to sustain PvP and naturally boundary crossing will be viewed more harshly.

Regarding your second question: these principles also applied for other players. If you can find evidence that other players are account sharing to win AT then by all means report to ANet. With the most recent outcome of ANet’s investigation I think UGO’s action is justified, and if you manage to find evidence then UGO should be able to apply the same principle.

My issue is you cant all of a sudden now say PvP i a serious thing. AT are suppose to be the sustain of PvP?

When i had a team and we did AG, we had full teams not including the ESL teams filling up 10+ spots every week. Most of the teams look like complete randoms with 4 actual teams there, kind of hard to keep the PvP community going strong with less and less players are playing since S1-6 have let people down wouldnt ya say?

Also i dont need to report it, many of the top players have said in posts on this forum they only duo que in ranked, that they avoid certain players. ( i said this earlier must of gotten lost in the shuffle so ill bring it up again) Also jumping into coms when teamed with people who they knew and wasnt in there duo.

Also there was a giant thread in S5 about X players using alt accounts. With Abjured players and there inner circle calling out Jeff and his inner circle and it went vice versa.

This was Anet chance to address some PvP issues in S5 and they did not do it.

here we have a AT where 5 players faced 5 others and 1 team won. Then guess what people got mad and reported it because they lost.

This is like the episode of Dragon Ball where Master Roshi pretends to be someone else and beats Goku in the tournament to make sure Goku doesnt get complacent.

The only difference is if Krillin paid Master Roshi to do it, it doesnt change anything.

I don’t think you understand what a pro tournament is, Wimbledon is a pro tennis tournament, because it is made up of players who earn their living from being a pro tennis player, it is their ‘profession’ this is where ‘pro’ comes from.

GW2 on the other hand, even when Anet had tournaments the money was so limited it could basically only support one dominant team financially (and even then that was a stretch given most of them didn’t have real costs because they lived at home with mummy & daddy or had an actual job), and that was basically 1 team, the rest of the laughably termed “pros” earned peanuts from the game, so there was no Pro scene, just a few deluded kids, and that was the official Anet tournies, if you think the amount people earn from this tournie constitutes a “professional GW2 player”, then well…

Oh and to put it in perspective no one other than handful of sad cases who have such empty lives they place value in the laughable GW2 PvP “scene” gives a toss whether these guys are in it or not, because competitively GW2 is a total joke.

What makes tournaments legit? Its about facing the best, in MMA you dont make any money for being a amateur fighter. Yet they have champions in amateur and go full 5 rounds and all the legits.

Money aside The Abjured have been the best team in NA since GW2 came out with legit 5 vs 5 content worth playing for. Whether its been real money, in game armor, in game rewards as legendarys. They have won them every single time in NA. Holding a NA tournament without them is like being the UFC champ at 205. And some amateur champ comes along and wins his pro fight in the UFC. Then starts calling himself the champ, the only thing that makes the Pros legit is proven history and current history.

Lastly your last point of GW2 PvP is something i agree with. I think its a joke that Jebro has to come up with PvP tournaments and monitor the players.

Anet from Day 1 of seasons should have been implementing rules for there leagues but everything from smurfing to alt accounts to que dodging has happened. Im just having a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that now, everyone wants to jump on it.

Its not only them who have messed up the NA scene. Its the other players they have played against. They did not enter themselves, had they played on alt accounts would it be a big deal? No but for some reason we want to say NOW is the time to ban players for X X and X and I simply find it laughable.

3 PvP seasons this has been going on and now Jebro has to be the voice, not Anet. Why no these other players who ran alts, MM among the plethora of other things.

Heres what we know for a fact happened, teams entered the AT. They played fairly and 1 team won. People are upset because the Abjured subbed in for X players, i look at it this way.

If i was on a team and i had to leave and my sister/brother is the best player in NA. And i asked her to play for me since i had to go, how is it wrong especially if she/he didnt enter the tournament?

Its online, its not for real money, it only effects the other players who have done shady things in the past.

It’s funny. ANet tried some really visionary things for an MMO closer to the start of the game. Things like no levels, easy acquisition of BiS stats, and a near-universal reward currency, with RNG playing little role beyond getting Precursors. The MMO fan base said no to all of that, either directly, or by taking actions which were bad for the health of the game.

As to the “recycled” comment. Yeah, what the heck do you mean by that?

Literally its like 50/50 from the people i know.

Many of us loved the LW with the dungeons, World Events and so on. Like the destruction of kessex hills and LA were amazing.

Then you have the other 50% who said " look what i missed out on, thats not fair" and voiced complaints.

Anet probably saw the issue of time. They spend time to create events where people might or might not have time to play it. They have gone very traditional with how this MMO is.

I mean Guild halls are a grind, unlocking new specs are kind of a grind. I mean in GW1 you had to do story, events to unlock skills. Ok that made sense, HOT you really just pick a path to learn and gather XP.

Dont know how you could comment on health of the game from the LS differences. heck PvP and WvW have been on life support for the past 2 years.

Heres my issue with that, Anet has done nothing with S5- S6 -S7 to deal with alt accounts issues. We have players in this thread who have said that they only duo que, that they have dodged que, ( certain players, it doesnt matter) and have had many players come into the same coms for ranked que. For instance you have a duo que playing and they get another person or duo que who they know and all jump into discord together. Yet team B has a lesser Duo que team and no one really knows each other.

Anet has been handing out titles to these people, if we are gonna talk integrity of the game, how does some one with 40 games 50 games or 60 games walk away with a top 150 title from a PvP season?

We are 3 seasons just about done with and Anet has not dealt with any issues that give certain players HUGE ADVANTAGES yet we are crying because some PvE players paid some Pro players to sub in for them? With all that has happened in the past 2-3 years in PvP, this is getting peoples goat?

You are playing it right down the middle, not fair this is the internet pick a side and jump on it.

It is Jebros tournament so of course he can do what he wants but for me its a bit silly. Many of the PvP players coming in who watch will have watched the Abjured players. They are the team of NA.

So this just becomes a issue of quality, if Jebro wants to do it hey go ahead. Then jebro says hey Gold players and below you cant be in my tournament, your not good enough. Then Jebro says Anet meta sucks well guess what no one cane play ele at my tournament.

Seriously what did the 5 players do wrong? They entered a tournament, lets just say as charity work for the community. They brought excitement to PvP by playing with 5 PvE players accounts to bring the hype. The won the tournament fair and square, seriously S1- S4 gave out Legendary titles to many players who play ion Silver league.

Yes its Jebros tournament but the short man syndrome is getting really bad.

2) you can’t have gsp fight me so you get the belt and get to call yourself the champion

Take any sport or competitive scene.

To be LHW champ in UFC you have to beat DC or JJ and maybe both. If you want to be a NBA champ you have to beat the warriors. If you want to be the boxing champ you have to beat Anthony Joshua.

Guess what in GW2 NA if you want to be considered the best you have to beat the Abjured.

If the Abjured are not in the tournament then i guess its a semi pro tournament.

We are in S7 and guess what Anet has let GSP fight everyone to get the belt else where so lets not pretend this is the first time its happened. I mean we can go all the back back to S2 for smurfing, Diamonds queing with emeralds and playing against rubys who had no chance. Jeffs team lost, i dont think letting silver have gold just because we want to be morale now in S7 changes the system. Especially in a community funded tournament.

If you’re against the choice talk to jebro about having your money back, dont watch the tourn and dont support it

if you are for the choice donate money to the tourn, watch the tourn and make sure everyone else does

the money wont do anything, boxing threw money at HW boxing but no one was watching because everyone could see that these guys were not in the best of shape and didnt go at one another.

Same will happen, all someone has to do is go " Jebro how do you think the Abjured would of done in this tournament" and boom the box is open.

You have tournaments to find who the best are and no amount of money will fix the issue of competitive games with the best players in the game with unique team comps people would actually want to watch and play.

Jebro’s tournament, his call. If you don’t like it you know where you can stick it and just not watch or donate.

Besides, it’s not like he’s doing something out of the ordinary or particularly pushing the envelope with this decision, you cheat in sports, you usually get banned from similar events.

Who cheated?

2 teams of 5 played and 1 team won. People are upset about the shared accounts, who cares? If i want to say im the best MMA fighter in the world i would have to fight everyone in front of me and win. Jeffs team lost and many of the Top NA players dont like that Abjured went on others accounts and beat them again.

If Anet doesnt wasnt to address these issues S5, S6 , S7 and it continues on threw on AT.

Why does Jebro get the chance to cut out the best players in the game. Honestly only 2 teams in NA were worth the hype in the Abjured and EZ PZ.

You take those 2 teams out and the question becomes why even bother?

Its Jebro tournament but it does a disservice to the community if you want to see the best teams play. When Anet themselves are not even punishing the players.

Its like being accused of a crime, losing your job, wife and kids leaving you, family and friends turning there back on you and in the end the courts find you not guilty of any wrong doing.

That is a HUGE issue with the current Living Story.

Thee give us plot line, character development and what not. In game time its probably been about a month. Yet all of us playing the game have been waiting for 8 months for answers.

Its like DBZ when they were doing the episodes at the same time as the comic, you would see the characters screaming and powering up for 5-10 min a episode.

Anet isnt following any comic or any writes story line. This is their story and right here is why i say Living World was a million times better.

We were given dungeons, events to farm, events to achieve, events where we saw other people in the game.

Now we are given story instances where i repeat X instance to get X ap if i want it.

Yet the story itself makes little sense and has come to a complete pause. We will be powering up for the next couple months until the expansion comes out and for those that buy it.

I play PvP also in SWTOR and WoW. You do not know how well we have it here. No stupid gear differences, raising to maximum level, no premades, the balance is better (yes, it is not optimal). Etc., etc.

That is a poor way to say things are ok.

Things that you said killed Archage ( another NCSoft game) and that game had serious potential too.

Huge problem with what you said is PvP for GW2 was great prior to HOT. Alot of people stayed in hope that the game play would get better and honestly any changes made would be better then S1 had to offer.

But here we are 2 years later, the best players in the game have no real interest in the game. You have 4 real teams competing in these AT, otherwise me you and 3 other people could go in coms and do pretty well.

Next you have the average veteran players quiting the game. This is where the game has truly died in PvP. When you get plat 2- 3 and Legendary players playing with gold 2 players and lower the skill differences are just to much.

You get 1 legendary player with 4 gold 1-2 players and then you get 2 Plat 2-3 players with 2 gold 1/2 players and a high silver player. Guess what the 2 plat players can hang with the Legendary player and then the other plat player can now farm weaker players.

Do put into food, GW2 was a great steak house. They made great steaks, HOT comes along and now GW2 cuts 1/2 the steak options in half and replace them with pastas.

The player base wasnt eating GW2 for pasta, they came for steak. You compare WoW and SWTOR and the reason you cant is because they dont server steak.

They are different games with different settings with there own customer base. GW2 catered to PvE players and created raids.

So you saying we dont know how good we got it is only with in the contexts that you dont like the PvP in those other games which does not fix the problems in this one.

The problem is there are no other skilled teams, maybe next month they can just give them the rewards.

Perhaps the monthly tournament is too easy to enter. It is, after all, a Monthly Tournament. These things aren’t suppose to be easy.

Only 32 teams was in the tourney, even less in NA. Maybe anet dont need to hand out 500g and a obnoxious crown to people for “achieving” something in a dead gamemode. People have no interest in making teams for pvp.

I’m unsure what the issue is; unless you would like to have fought a bad team at the start, of which, is understandable.

Anet can’t regulate fair matchmaking in spvp so I wouldn’t expect them to attempt a fair matchmaking in AT’s.

It would be nice if Anet at least had divsion skill caps.

Like if your a gold and below team you play in this tournament and if plat and higher you play in this one.

AT were suppose to help the PvP community grow by creating areas for teams of all calibers. People who want to try out teams and play competitively vs others of the same level is fun and you can see and reach the goal you are going for.

If your a new team being put together get smushed vs pro players isnt something your gonna wanna enter again.
