Lol why is this even a problem?

You just got a warrior to use a head butt to close the distance, if you wanted to complain about its stability or stun breakers ok. But this? (hahahahahahahahahaha)

This is like watching the guy in LoL use flash for no reason. And everyone on TS is like get him he used flash!!!!!!!!

That doesnt fix anything.

We had 1 vs 1 tournaments, 2 vs 2 tournaments and 3 vs 3. Guess what it doesnt get the same thing. When helseth and sind held a tournament it took 7 hours to cast.

When i was in a team for AG there were full teams week in and out.

2 vs 2 and 3 vs 3 simplify the game, less strategy, a need for less map rotation, among a whole bunch of other things.

Simply put this game was most active when there different types of team comps, different kinds of solo builds and actual tournaments to play in. Things died off when the D/D ele meta started and it hit a brick wall when teams couldnt get into the Pro League.

We can agree on the clutter but this isnt a good proposal.

Let's talk PvP, Ideas and improvements.

I have to disagree,

1- More game modes
No, GW2 is conquest style PvP. Simply put we need better class diversity and 5 legit maps. I dont even count kylo really since at higher levels you just ignore the treb. For me forest, temple, foefire are great maps. Add 2 more and make it so each class has 2-3 different ways they can play.

2- More frequent balance patches
No, we just need 2-3 really good patches that gives class and build diversity.Im pretty sure rev mains would like to use more then glint and shiro. Thieves might want to use sword and eles might want to do more then follow the squishy’s to heal them.

3- More rewards
Dwayna please!!!!!!!! I ask every season for more rewards for guild halls or unique anything. ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!! (no anet the shard glory vendor where i have to sit there and play with garbage in my inventory is not rewards)

So i guess i can agree with 1 thing

Except that, as has been pointed out repeatedly here, the OP’s complaint is about soloing the story, not the zones as a whole. The story is soloable. If one has played a game for only a week or two, and cannot solo content that is designed for solo play, it might be a function of one’s mastery of one’s chosen character.

There are MANY players on the forums that complain about not being able to complete various parts of the story. And as I have said many times – in my opinion the story should be able to be enjoyed by everyone, not just those who have a certain mastery of their character. Challenge should be relegated to separate places in the game where those who prefer a higher challenge can go seek it.

I understand your opinion, but, in my opinion, it is reasonable to expect players to know how to play the game with some degree of understanding in order to complete max level content.

I would expect a new buyer of the game who insta-leveled to 80 immediately after purchase to struggle with max level content in any game.

The only way for max level content to be guaranteed to be fully accessible to anyone, regardless of lack of experience with the game, would be for it to consist entirely of dialogue and cutscenes. To stop being a game. Admittedly interactive storytelling does not need to be a game, but GW2 is one.

Once again i will write that there needs to be a place for this harder content.

Guess what there is alot of PvP players in this game who straight quit because they get handled. I had 2 guild mates who were digging PvP this season. One started 7-3 was put at 1700 rating and then on his 11th game was place against ESL level players and was shut out 500-0. Didnt come back to PvP.

Another guild mate was in silver pushing to gold and he to was nearly in gold, maybe 150 rating away from it. He has played around 60 matches, his next game was 500-0. He was shocked and added 2 players from the enemy team to his friends list and they were in high gold.

There is a time and place, im sorry that i dont agree with some of the logic you guys are using. Im sorry that just because Anet did this style, means i have to agree with it.

No, its a bad set up, a bad design and people should not be told to L2P in starting areas of a map.

You keep talking max- level content, i dont even understand because non of it is actually hard. For me personally i walk threw most of it, ive solo most of the champions and skill points.

But having played with some guild mates who absouletly hate HOT maps, having played with people who struggle with the PvE content, i simply try to understand what is happening and break it down.

You are not, you are trying to say this is high level/difficult content and people should L2P or adjust there style.

Which is fine for you but that would be like me saying if you are not a top 100 player in PvP you can not speak about it because you are not at my level therefore you do not understand the game play as well as i do.

Which is why im pointing out you guys are wrong with the how this thread has gone.

I mean its not like Anet didnt give Mordremoth a challenge mode for you “high level content” players. Seriously, this isnt the first complaint about the story mode or living story coming from players who just want to play the game.

My goodness its story mode, if the OP was struggling with 98-99-100 fractal so be it, tell him to L2P. Raids fine tell him to L2P, hey even the precious meta events go ahead say L2P.

But for the basic story mode and exploring? Come on get that stick out of there.

I was gonna come back and play the new LS last night night and my Guild Mates in Discord told me not too since its so buggy.

That with the PvP titles and just staleness the game is in right now, i dont know but maybe that are on vacation?

@ vayne i understand what you are saying about the OP learning to play but he and torso reaper are saying the same thing.

Also i wasnt interrupting it differently i was breaking it down to the basics.

You talk about timers, i remember when GW2 first came out and how you did things. It was called Guild chat and go to LA. Before the mega servers, i used to say hey guys claw is up in guild chat. If no one was on i went to LA, there use to be a reason to sit in LA. We use to do the same thing for WvW.

So no you didnt have to use timers before, also you can do many many of the bosses with a few people. Its why i dont say you can blame VB because if you have 2-3 friends with you. You can go after a boss at night with a small group.

Cant do that with in the other 3 maps, the OP is trying to solo. Torso Reaper above me comments on the trains you do to finish Maguuma.

Thats not how it should be, if HOT was actually harder they bosses and monsters you face would be actually stronger. No instead all the HOT content is group based.

Then they throw a bunch of monsters out who have simply 1 shot mechanics or SP with monsters with tons of HP.

Like ive said before, im ok with saying HOT isnt for everyone. Telling the OP to L2P in a system that requires X to do Y to do Z which helps you do X is terrible.

The idea that LFG system TOOL is necessary to learn, to do things says something about the 3 maps. Your doing what Anet did to eles in PvP. Learn to play shout/support/healbot or play something else.

28k AP or not, Vayne got it right. OP complains about not being able to play his SOLO STORY.

Proof:

I start up my SOLO play story line. Let me say this again.. SOLO PLAY Story line. To find out that not only do the NPCs get absolutely annihilated leaving you alone to fight 15+ mobs, but you yourself get zerg gibbed in 2 seconds. Yes i dodged, Yes i tried to avoid everything. At some point you have to try and hit them and thats when you get gibbed.

After dying and grinding my way through a few solo missions and getting to the point where I had to defend the frog village only to once again have every single npc dead within seconds and dying over and over i gave up.

The SOLO PLAY story line is simply not designed properly. Its garbage. And thats it for me, I was COMPLETELY enjoying the game .. right up until the expansion. Solo play is just not balanced properly.

In that 2nd paragraph you will see he started to try and play the story part which is story that happens in PvE.

In the part you didnt highlight the OP is complaining about the glider and mushroom masterys.

Some of the story in HOT is PvE and actually alot of it is getting experience points for masterys int he circle they Anet created. To use tunnels to expand the story you need to play PvE HOT. They are trying to do the story mode solo and are struggling big time because everything is tied together.

Let me say you guys keep bringing in other factors.

Vayne brought in examples such as triple threat, which i agree needs a timer but 3 out of 4 areas of HOT do as well. For example lets say OP gets a bad AB map, they cant win and hes stuck outside trying to get in. Struggles to find another route in and then gets frustrated since he doesnt want to do the meta event to get into tarir but simply wants to do the story, for someone new like the OP this will get frustrating.

Lets say OP learns a little, really wants it and learns the meta events. Uses the LFG tool sees its 1 hour away decides to do some PvE grind for experience points. 30 minutes away finds that 1 map filled up for which ever meta event. He gets into the 2nd map and finds out there are limited people who dont know how the event works and it fails. More frustration.

You are taking the 1 small line the OP says and you dont break it down.

OP of thread is struggling with the difficulty of HOT. They now have to figure out the new masterys to play the story, they need to PvE to unlock masterys, they need masterys to progress threw the personal story.

The OP unlocks gliding realizes they need mushrooms, tries to move on in the story realizes he needs tunnels, ran out of mastery points and runs back etc etc etc.

Vayne in his post even talked about how OP of thread is probably playing axe warrior.

You guys have the right to blame OP for being very new but you can not defend a system like this. We have 1 meta event in TT that really needs multiple zergs coordinated. Im sorry but i and my guild mates were able to take down temples back in the day when we only had exotics. Just because we found it easy doesnt make it easy for everyone.

There is a place for certain things. This player first time coming into HOT and he struggled badly.

Like i said before, If you are new tot he game and your a bronze level warrior and match making puts you against me a plat level warrior how is that fair?

Right now HOT (the 4 maps) are only for people who love to farm. The new system is a circle system meaning one needs the other. The OP can not escape until he/she figures it out.

Its one thing to say L2P and its another when HOT itself is just a bad set up which many have complained about.

People complained about Orr too with core GW2. The difference is there were 26 other maps they could slowly map out.

Hot has 0 maps because there is only 4.

Are you serious?

Wow im fine if you want to say you enjoy the meta map by my god what a terrible excuse to defend something.

Also you living in Australia means nothing. 1/2 my guild is from there and im in the US and 2-3 others are in canada. These meta events are based on getting into the right map at the right time.

Lastly you end both comments with “you assume the OP is struggling with more then just group content” which is a issue beyond that. Then finish the last comment with a failed VB.

Seriously what point are you trying to get threw? You talk about the ability to use a LFG tool but that only works if the map is available with people who know how to do the event. Thats 1

People have not liked that all 4 maps require multiple people to grab a skill point, not all of them but if you are trying to explore and get 100% and you WANT to play solo this is a issue. Thats 2

Lets not forget that for people who want to run THERE OWN BUILDS that are not meta, people who are under geared, people who struggle with the mechanics of the different raid bosses can now not do raids. Thats 3

How are you seriously trying to defend this? HOT was horrible for WvW and PvP. It literally split the PvE community since GW2 core was a casual friendly game.

Verdint Brink i give you is a amazing map with multiple ways and is truly exceptional in all aspects.

The other 3 maps are simply for farmers, when you add in the fact the story was not very good to be kind. That doesnt leave a whole lot for the players like the OP.

Can i relate this to another area of the game having issues? Well thank you i will go ahead.

Right now in PvP gold players and below want warrior and DH nerfed and say OP. Players in plat and up are not really struggling against them. Alot of the higher end players are saying L2P like many of the people in this thread, without looking at alot of the real issues with what the OP is saying.

You are simply saying everything is ok because you dont have a problem with it. Many others like you are enjoying the constant repeat of events for farming. Good for you guys.

I have played all the events, completed them, did not enjoy them. (other then VB)

The OP and MANY others have shown disdain for it. Myself included, many people said its a L2P issue. I dont like it and mechanically if i can be forward. Im probably better then most of the people commenting on this forum, so i simply dont like the meta maps.

My issue becomes since you know and some others know how to deal with DH/war class stacking isnt a issue. But what about for everyone gold and below?

That is why HOT has been a huge let down. Before i could of played s/s rifle warrior in PvE, WvW and PvP. If i was better i won, now with HOT. If you are running the meta build and im running my non s/s rifle build and you cant get out of silver in league. Yet if i play the meta in league and get to plat, that shows Anet threw a brick at balance at build diversity.

Which is what they did to the player base with HOT meta server maps, raids, events.

You can by all means defend the style of play because you enjoy it.

What i would like to see is the L2P comments taken out since they are a loaded diaper.

“L2P includes learning how to use a timer and learn how to use the LFG tool” especially ones like this since its suppose to be a TOOL that can help players instead of being a necessary item to play 75% of the HOT maps.

I don’t get that complaint … it’s no different if you are in Core GW2 … you die, no one is around so you just WP somewhere. Yup it’s harder but the idea that bosses are too hard makes little sense. Again, MMO content … bosses … should be hard no?

Just like it’s a shame that MMO games devolved to a point where people aren’t willing to learn to succeed, somehow the same applies to teaming and co-operative play. Newsflash .. you’re playing a game style where the fundamental premise is co-operating with other people.

Thats fine how about the stuff when maps are dead? We have 3 maps that revolve around a team game. Thats not harder content thats coordinated content.

You are using L2P as a cop out. Under the L2P issue is gear, trait set up, utility set up, and after that its mechanic set up and weapon set chosen as well food and accessorys.

Many people write L2P just accusing the OP of not knowing anything which is fine but you and others still have not answered those base questions.

Saying find a guild, grab some friends, blah blah blah isnt harder content. That is not challenging a group of players is simply throwing more apples at something makes it easier.

A real example of L2P is i play warrior in PvP i am in plat. You are playing warrior and am in bronze crying about the MM system, we 1 vs 1 and i crush you. You need to mechanically get better.

If i fight a boss and can not beat him and its not meant to be for 1 person to beat and i struggle to find people to help me or do not want to ask then this content is not for me.

Simply put HOT isnt for everyone and L2P might not be the answer and no HOT isnt harder based content just content not intended to be solo’d in a reasonable amount of time.

Im sorry i have to laugh at so many of these comments talking about L2P.

Since when did games devolve so badly that LEARNING to play them became such an unreasonable expectation with players?

Granted, the leveling experience does not sufficiently challenge people to learn their class and prepare them for HoT (or dungeons for that matter), but the idea that people should be able to scrub through the game and fail because they aren’t willing to learn is preposterous.

If you read the whole comment instead of just picking 1 line out of context you would of seen the point but i will gladly do say it again.

HOT did not create a fun balance game in the 4 maps.

Please tell me how you solo TD-DS on a dead map? Please tell me the L2P issue when it comes to the meta maps and you jumping into a lane with 1-2 other people or in DS where there is not enough commanders or people who know how to run the event a “new” players issue.

Matter of fact how about a veteran player like me who has ran the events and am disgusted that when i simply want to run around for fun and explore. That these areas are unforgiving unless people are running SP trains or small guild groups running events but of course its a L2P issue for me as well. What was i thinking.

How about weapon mechanics, like on warrior lets say i want to run s/s with rifle and a bunch of pocket raptors come for me. Oh oh im screwed with my slow attack speed and single target damage on rifle.

Would your next comment be run different weapons and x-x-x utility skills. Because ive mained warrior in PvE and in PvP with nearly 4k matches alone on warrior as well near full completion of the HOT and new maps on warrior.

Simply put HOT needs to be certain way all the time. Its not as fun as core GW2, the story is not as good, living story is not as good and build diversity is not as good.

Im all for more challenging content but where exactly did we get it? Raids which are more rotation based, gear and team comp? Dungeons which they quit working on?

I can give Anet some huge credit on the new level 100 frac since it was fun and the challenge mote for it is more fun and challenging then the old 100 challenge.

Do not mix up L2P and telling me and other people that it might be a mechanic issue when there is a huge issue on many things for HOT.

Seriously why is mace/shield for warrior so much better in condi then sword and so much better in damage then axe? On top of the bonus block and stun?

Tell me why rifle was destroyed for PvP and PvE because WvW had a trait issue which they still havent improved?

Im fine with the rebuttal the other person gave because they actually gave a example which was fighting a smokescale. (ok people might die from this, i didnt know)

As someone who has 28k + AP and got to lgendary in the PvP seasons and was ranked in the top 250 for NA and place in platinum in the end. I find most peoples comments to be a joke.

First off OP is right, Anet made the new mastery’s mandatory to play the new areas. They also made it to play certain builds and weapon sets more viable then others. When HOT first came out i couldnt do alot of the PvE things with my guild mates because i was in PvP. So there is a frustration factor involved.

Also let me add on the 2nd part, HOT is difficult to solo. It is not easy soloing the HP/SP and AB-TD-DS are all meta event maps. That by definition alone means they can not be solo. Please be the person on the dead map trying to organize a meta event and have 3 people in Ogre Lane. ( omg so much fun)

Heres a bigger factor the OP hit the nail in the head on. Population in the game. We are at a point with 3 daily maps, HOT areas that revolve around meta timers and people are defending a increased difficulty level?

Raids are not difficult, they are mechanic based and gear based. Fractals were not difficult, they were simply AR based. Dungeons were given up on.

I love gliding. The vertical maps are a great joy. This was truly unique and special. It has been 2 maps, blood stone fen and verdint brink. The other maps are simply for organized groups who love to farm.

The amount of people saying L2P is so laughable i actually started chuckling when you see 3-4-5 people say learn the class when really that isnt the issue.

Anet introduce HOT and it was less content then the original, less story, less dungeons/raids, made WvW and PvP worse, made PvE a spam fest as well as brought in more of a zerging mentality.

And yet there are people walking around without your experience that need to learn to play. I’ve easily taught a dozen people, probably more, how to handle HOT.

Before I showed them they couldn’t do it and after I showed them they could. Some of them still post here, maybe they’ll swing by and back me up, but either way, it’s true.

Simple examples like people not realizing that they can range something if it’s too hard to melee, because they meleed everything in the open world. The idea that they sometimes have to dodge back and switch to range never occurred to them.

Or the mechanics of the Smokescale, which people die too quickly without ever learning it. They don’t realize you have to pull the smokescale out of it’s circle of smoke to kill it, because inside the circle of smoke it can’t be harmed.

That doesn’t mean people will never die. And it doesn’t mean you can solo every hero point, but just because you’re a good player doesn’t mean most of the playerbase is.

We’ve seen it time and time again, many people over many events that don’t have the basics of the game down. People who kill themselves when they have confusion. People who don’t know how to remove condition. People who knockback stuff away from melee guys.

Plenty of people can’t play the new zones at all. Some of us can solo 90% of it. That’s the difference.

What you are saying is fine when it comes to actual fighting mechanics but the OP of the thread is talking about fighting and losing and no one being around, bosses being too hard etc etc.

That is not what i discussed and what potentially the OP of the thread is talking about.

Im finding it harder to log in to play this game. I havent for the past week because i know im get some silly AP missions for further the story line. Probably end 1 of the 8 story lines they got going while adding 5 more.

These side comments of ohh she will be fine, is the laziest form of story telling which is why ive considered moving on.

I mean with PvP becoming what its been, WvW has had nothing added to it for years and PvE just becoming grind new maps for the new shinys and very lack luster story.

I mean there was so much to Gw2 core game. HOT has been such a big disappointment for me.

Yeah, this is long overdue and it’s embarrassing they haven’t made scepter the power weapon it should be. Ele NEEDS a power based spec. Every profession NEEDS a DPS spec. It doesn’t make any sense they’ve been forced to be essentially healers.

If they don’t consider anything you said, I hope they at least buff scepter damage by 10-20%. Something needs to be done. Remove all of this sustain/healing mess

You can say this about alot of things since HOT came out.

Rev needs help with its stances and spec lines.

Thief sword and potential support/bunker build

Warrior with shouts, banners,physical skills and playing anything other then DPS

DH with not being able to play at ESL levels ( im not sure about this since we wont get another tournament)

So on and so on.

A good PvP patch is long overdue.

Those screenshots are from plat. Stacked DHs/wars still give huge advantage, even at higher ranks.

At some point we have to decide whether something is OP because we allow it to be OP or because we refuse to change.

The 3rd picture is still the reason i say Match Making needs addressed more then the classes for serious league play.

You DO know that soloq was removed BECAUSE of people in teamq crying about queue times? Thank yourself for the state of the games we got.

ummm you might be off.

Team que took a hit in que times when solo que came out because everyone was solo queing. Then Anet made team que more rewarding and then no one solo que.

I still remember being in que for 1 hour + in WvW and PvE and being like OHHHH i should que up for PvP dailies and then see i was qued up.

At the end there solo que was removed because no one was playing it, especially with many of the top PvP players getting to rank #1 and accomplishing everything they needed to in the game.

Ive played many 4-5 man teams while solo queing during season 1-4 and won some of them and lost some of them. I truly dont understand the crying.

Heck my guild team which consisted of 3-4 people (including myself) beat other guild teams.

I was in season 1-2 when 4-5 members of ESL teams teamed up together and the team i was on was solo’s It wasnt that bad and i dont understand all these threads.

Why not just go back to the 1-5 ranked games, have Anet fix match making, Fix the /-, put up a protector where a person cant face a 3 premade more then once.

I mean just so much crying on the forums about nothing right now.

Because the old leagues didn’t work. 1-5 ranked games are again, MIXED QUEUES. Mixed queues do. not. work. Only separate queues of 5v5 and solo queue have been shown to work.

work for what?

Lets be honest here, Duo que is a huge advantage, bam Anet needs to addresss the +/- as needed.

Now do the same with all the other stuff. Otherwise we will have pure solo que which we all know can get tiresome and lonely.

The other option is solo que and team que which means they will take away from one another and i for one will not go back to 30+ long que times.

Still remember the days when hammer and longbow were considered the god-tier weapons for warrior and greatsword was pretty much useless trash in PvP.

Greatsword was never trash.

When this game first came out people would die to bulls charge hundred blades because it took people time.

Alot of us use to run 0-6 or 6-6 builds for greatsword to work and it did fine.

If you want to be honest alot of things were fine before HOT. I use to run a hammer/rifle build with power-arms-defense. Always crit on F1 and the bleeds and confusion on knock back and interrupts. I actually used it in a AG game as a FA.

That is the difference now and then, HOT there is 1 build per class.

Before HOT there were choices on personal build set up and team set up.

So lets save the trash talk for current hammer warriors and sword thieves.

I dont know how you could say the NA scene was a success. I had matches in gold 3/plat 1 where i was the best player on my team vs 4 of the top 100 players on the other team.

Other people had pics and made threads of being in low gold/ silver playing against multiple top 250 players.

So boom match making is already messed up. The NA scene was plagued with pro league players duo queing/dodging/ alt accounts. The Leader Board is not a legit top 250 players since there are multiple alts etc etc etc.

I know Lord Hammder already made a note of it but here are some of the most important things to me for a competitive scene.

1- Fair match making
2- Fair Leader board
3- Fair rating system
4- Fair class balance
5- Fair rewards

If you are a 145lb fighter you dont want to fight the 205 champ which happened in NA, after losing you were heavily punished whiched happened and you dont want to hear that the 205 fighter is jacked on juice which also happened. Then you find out that the commission punished the fighters manager and cut man because not everyone who cheated was removed from the leader board.

For me only rewards of S5 were a great new item from the first 4 seasons.

@kdaddy – It makes sense because if you stop playing PvP your ability to play at the same level decreases. It happens with everything, if you stop doing it for a while, your skill level falls. Is 3 days too short of a period before decay sets in? Yes, it shouldn’t set in so quickly. Should decay set in if you continue to play unranked? No, it shouldn’t, since you are still playing PvP and keeping your skills up. Should it be changed so that you can’t farm MMR through it? Yes, absolutely. And this is what I said in my initial reply to your comment. But the decay system should stay.

Yes you said in your last response but i disagree.

Ive always considered myself better then average but not as good as the ESL players.

When HOT came out a certain engy who took a long break and came back. He was obviously out of sorts when he first came back but literally 1-2 weeks later he was back to a elite level.

The idea of decay is just dumb to me, your reasons makes sense for average players. Not for the elite level players who put in for time/games/ high level pressure games which many of us havent done.

Many of the streamers/ESL players dont play PvP in the off seasons because there is no challenge in unranked. I myself take longer breaks and play less in the PvP offseason.

That still does not mean that some new player who simply wants it and plays more “now” deserves to get a higher rating when they are not better.

For me alot of players have been leaving the game simply because there is no real competitive scene.

I wont use names but from a NA perspective top 2 warrior hasnt been playing, the top 2 engys havent played this season and a former top 3 thief hasnt played this season.

There is no build diversity from a solo or team perspective.

Helseth is basically playing the sponsored player character role saying all the right things.

But nothing about GW2 feels better now then it did before HOT. Heck we have had former Pro players left and right lose there stuff when a certain Anet employee left. I do agree on 1 thing, if you are in GW2 looking for something competitive, dont just move on.

@kdaddy – pretty good list, and I believe that Evan said that he was working on reducing the volatility of your MMR changing after each game. But I disagree on removing decay, it makes sense that if you don’t play for a while your ranking goes down. Only thing I would remove is to remove the ability to “farm” MMR through decay like some players did this season.

Why does that make sense though?

If i played 200 games at the start of the season and couldnt play the last 2 weeks due to work or life or simply because i put the amount of game in. Why am i punished when another player can systematically play 40 games in the last 2 weeks of the season?

If im in the NBA and i win the #1 seed with a record of 66-10. I have the top seed locked, why cant i sit my starters the last 6 games for rest? All of a sudden i should lose rank points because a team who is 40-36 played all the way threw with its starters?

It makes no sense, another example is i put $100 int he bank for interest at 2%. I get $2 at the end of the month. What you are suggesting is the guy who puts in $5 a week and $20 at the end of the month get more interest money.

None of us want this to be grind wars like before where the players who simply played the most games won the leader board.

But we shouldnt let players who played 200-300 games lose rank spots because X player played the last 2 weeks of the season even though they only played 40 games.

My in game example was my guild team, S1 and 2 we played seriously. Going 15-9 and 12-7. We got into silver division (top 100) with other guilds going 1-2 ahead of us.

So seasons 3-4 we only played 2-3 games on the last day of the season. We got into gold division. (top 25) Same players, less effort and it became a running joke about the guild challenger league.

Also getting rid of decay would remove the ESL player way of getting from 2000 rating to 2300 in 7 days while only playing 3 games.

I mean everything about the decay system is bad since top players are not in the 250 because they didnt play last 3-4 days and it could be exploited. Neither are good for a competitive scene.

Match making and a change to how duo que works.

For instance i would like to see the +/- changed for people who duo que. You should receive less points per win and a slightly higher loss of rating when you lose.

This is because Anet cant get the MM right.

I would also like to see smaller degrees in the +/- itself. None of this +50 and -50 for anybody crap.

The lets discuss the first 10 games. There needs to be a max, seriously cap it at 1650 and then all the elite players work there way up from there.

Then lets get rid of the decay system. We cant honestly have a League Season where 3-4 players get into the top 50 and only play 50 games. When some elite level players played 200 games and didnt get into the top 250 because of decay.

I mean if Anet could implement some common sense base lines that would be fantastic.

I do. I actually know the people who brought 5 eles to ESL on purpose just to show how stupid class stacking (and ele at that time) is. Only reason why rule was introduced on first place is because it was public display of stupidity of the design.

It was NA running double engy and ele.

Like when we go back and look at it, those GW2 core tournaments were pretty good.

WTS 1 and before EU had absolutely garbage comps, like they refused to stack OP AF d/d ele and wouldn’t even play broken cele engi. After that ppl always had pride in playing their main unless it was totally kitten, so most comps were pretty "balanced’ supposedly. Even leading up to PL season 1 people were playing mains rather than OP classes. Everything changed imo (In NA) when PZ finally started not sucking by stacking revs and no one could compete lol. Now ppl just run whatevers most broken, no matter what.

As someone at the top of the scene would you prefer that Anet opened up tournaments for any type of team comp?

like you said, EU and NA have always had different styles and now everyone plays whats most OP.

Im curious to see what the top teams would run in 5 man comps from both sides. I mean every team looks near identical as it is so how much worse can it get.

Drazeh would be my “guess”. Impossible to really know. GW2 isn’t really balanced for 1s though as we know.

I honestly think the community is getting restless with no tournaments, so now people are just talking about people in the game.

There are a few people who stand out in the 1 vs 1 though. Like for me tarcis, toker, Rom all have been great 1 vs 1 players.

But who knows since we probably wont get another big tournament and because of that, people are just gonna talk about people in the game.

It has to be match making and the +/- system.

It makes no sense when people Duo que and are 1800+ and they face 1600 or lower and the 1600 lose 12+ points in a match they didnt have a chance to score 200 in.

This is like back in 9th grade when the coaches made the c-team play varsity, there you at least had coaches to tell what everyone was doing wrong.

Here you have games all over the place with only negative effects.

From an ESL perspective I have heard Sid raising ROM is the best duellist.
But ok it comes from a thief perspective…maybe too contextual.

Every time i see youtube videos or Pro League games Rom seems to be the man when it comes down 1 vs 1.

Before HOT i would throw in Noscoc, not a huge fan but got to give credit where its due.

They need to work on class diversity and finally for the 5th straight season. They need to work on match making.

We cant blame 5 man premades and demand a solo/duo que. Only to get solo/duo que and then blame duo que players when once again. ITS ANET MATCH MAKING THATS FAILING.

Quit blaming small things on why you didnt get to where you wanted or why things are unfair. Simply put Anet has had some of the worst match making since HOT came out.

messing whith the matchmaking was only because a vocal minority said in S1 they had to carry a lot. S1 had a lot of problems(smurfed acounts draging an entire team to compete with lower ranks, unclear pip reward sistem where you can gain pips in a lost and lost pips in a win…) but not matchmaking problems so big for the mess they do in the others seasons

Someone could of made it a thread of “solo que only” and had the community jumped behind it Anet would of gave in.

Just like the leader board issue, Anet is actually watching the threads of the forums and check the comments.

But no one did that, alot of the solo que heros thought this was a great thing. Not realizing this isnt the real issue.

Also all 5 seasons have had issues. S5 had a bugged that occurred when a declined match happened. As well as the class stacking issues. I still dont get why 3 thieves will be on 1 side then 3 Dh on the other. Or like last night for me, i have 2 DH on my team and they get hard countered by the 2 engys and ranger on the other.

Anet has almost created a rock paper scissor system and they have not implemented there MMR rating based on class into the system as well as many other factors.

Also just to add Season 2 you were teamed up with people of same MMR. I walked S2 in legendary starting the season at like kitten . I commented then about it being a bad thing and here we are S5 with many many top level players with 80% win rates. Not a good thing.

S3 had big issues as well regarding the PiP system and match making just like S1-4.

I will not blame duo que when match making makes ranked games like this.

Just so we all know my team won that game because we had a better comp. And i lost 2 games because 1 player didnt belong in a game and in another game the other team had a far better comp.

None of this is a Duo que issue

Edit- When you create hard counters and when you get to a certain level of play. These counters are so effective. If you have 8-9 plat players who are on the leader board or fighting to get on and you have 1 player in gold 1-2/silver/bronze they will get out matched and the other team will notice it.

If everyone is of equal skill but you put X class on 1 team and put 2-3 of them over there and the other team has X class which is the counter and they have 2-3 of them. You get games like the ones i under lined. Thats all Anet and the Match Making.

I don’t agree. I remember the days of 5 rangers and the days of 5 hambow wars rolling over everything in sight.( Hambow continued to be dominant for weeks or months before it was addressed. )

I honestly thought the OP was being sarcastic. Class stacking has been an issue for as long as I’ve been in PvP. It should be locked out.

Hambow was nerfed quickly. It wasnt like Dhuumfire necro or spirit ranger.

You can’t keep balancing around ESL either or the game will be forever infamous because of the frustrations, DH is still unpopular in Tournaments but in solo/duo que it is kitten spammed class along with warrior.

There is a issue with classes and how they are played but saying Dh is a issue in solo/duo que i would disagree with.

Today i did 3 matches and i won 1 and lost 2. The 2 games i lost we had 2 DHs and the other had 1 ( one game) and 0 the other game. Scores were like 500-32 and 500-48.

First game we clearly had 1 player who probably shouldnt have been in this plat level game as it seemed many of us were fighting to get in the top 250 or maintain there position.

2nd loss game our DH’s were just hard countered by a team of ele/druid/thief/ 2 engys.

Neither could win a 1 vs 1 against any of them and they struggled in the team fights as well.

I believe that the HOT specs really destroyed the learning curve of the game and Anet really needs to address build diversity and the skill level of each build.

But i disagree and think the game should be based around the ESL players because they are the ones playing it at its highest level.

If we are honest, we dont know what the best team comp in the game is since Anet has a 1 class per team rule.

Im pretty sure we can all agree the game is kind of broken balance wise since we still have this rule in place.

Lastly ive seen thief carry hard, i played against and with Edision and in those matches he literally won every 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2. Now he is a pro player carrying in the gold/plat division.

All i can say is keep working at it and hopefully MM will be better in S6. Take care

Im sorry but i disagree,

PvP players want the titles, alot of the purest dont care for the gold.

For instance i was ranked in the top 150 had 1 bad day where i kept playing and fell into gold 3. Wasnt a good feeling and ive taken games slowly and got back into the 1750 range.

Simply put Anet needs a Minimum Games played and to get rid of the decay system.

People shouldnt lose points because they quit playing for 2 weeks when they played 400 games and we have people in the top 10 with less then 150 games.

IMO the decay system is crap, I have 4-5 people on my friends list who have played 200+ games and were in gold/plat and now sit in bronze because they had work. ( we are old, super sorry)

This current leader board is fine since we are 3-4 days from its end but ANet really needs to look into how the leader board works and put it on the forum for Dwaynas sake.

I don’t see any evidence in this link. Just a bunch of bad players crying with screenshots of people existing inside a match.

I agree is not proof.

But on this forum and the reddit threads. There seems to be 2 groups at the top manipulating matches in some sort of fashion.

Kat/Annabelle has complained about jeff jeff jeff and its gone both ways.

What the screen shot shows is a alt account of X player who then throws the match so the main account can rise. X alt account is then shared by a few elite players winning the matches they are not in together to maintain its high rating.

Obviously its very hard to prove but everyone can see shady business going on but no one knows the truth besides the people in each small group.

What i do know is EU top players have played hundreds of games. Almost all of them.

We have Marvin/olrun and i would say about 5 more with legit 300 games played on 1 account.

You have accounts like tokers alt(#4), vallun who have played 40 or so games and hold a top 5 spot and a top 40 spot.

Another thread showed how the top 5 were all around 20XX rating. They let it decay and then 5 accounts boosted 2200+.

So there is simply just alot of evidence of manipulation but im just speculating.

No matter how the season ends, its on Anet to give the community a good leader board and one that is actually on the forum.

You know we are only in SEASON 5 ABOUT TO BE 6.

Im sorry but i dont think one will come soon.

For me a big reason why GW2 HOT is failing is build diversity.

Core GW2 you could of had a power/lich necro with a shout warrior and a bunker guard. 3 man combo with X classes playing the sides.

Could of gone power warrior/rampage with a bunker guard and a ele.

Even a burn/burst guard with a ranger and a staff ele.

Right now every class has a hard meta, its not good when you have 9 classes and only 18 builds in competitive play for those classes.

I personally really enjoyed watching the WTS 1-2 and the last Por League finals.

Even the tournament held by sind and helseth but the last TOL and first 3 Pro seasons were so bad and that was all on Anet.

Plus Anet has stated Gw2 is a PvE game, the PvP forum is simply for the die hards like ourselves.

I have had my fair share of good/bad matches this season.

I can honestly say that only 1-2 times has someone quit and ive played around 150 matches this season.

Even in the games where you see 2 ESL players and 2 top 250 players on the other team did no one on my team quit. The score just goes 500-100, that happens.

You do have to question Match Making though.

Ive said this since Season 1, you cant fix anything until you fix match making. On another thread you had a picture of 3 silvers and 2 golds facing platinum and legendary players. That isnt good for anyone and i dont know how this is not the issue that needs to be discussed in the forums.

So many bad threads of X class is OP instead of simply just saying im getting out classed why am i consistently facing these people?

I personally dont mind facing ESL level players as long as there is one on my team. Thats great but GW2 is running into a issue of X players are on 1 side and X players on the other and Match Making knows its gonna be 500-100 and players have caught on to it to.

Yes i just watched it and wanted to say thanks to everyone involved as well.

Took me like 3 weeks to watch it but i really liked Helseth and sind commentary. They do what the past EU and NA commentators wouldnt which is call out players for playing bad, calling out bad rotations and saying what match ups/rotations they would of done.

Storm and Huerix do that a little but the are so pc and almost afraid to say something unless its obvious.

I also wanted to comment on the level difference. That Helseth vs Dank 1 vs 1 right before the final, omg i felt for him so much.

Seriously there is like 15 players in this game EU side and 15 NA side who truly can compete in the 5 vs 5 setting vs each other. Like wow the level difference from a top 10 player and a top 250 player from EU (as well as NA) is so different.

Incorrect. New conditions cannot be applied while your invulnerable, but if a guardian tries to use renewed focus to survive with 15 stacks of burning on them they’re going to melt and go down during the channel if they don’t remove the burn.

Condi damage is the only counter to invulnerability when used properly.

What I find rediculous is that warriors can make themselves take 0 damage from all sources between berserker’s stance and Defy Pain, which has zero counterplay outside hard CC, which only delays the fight, it doesn’t prevent them from effectively resetting it.

its 4 sec long, come on.

The resistance on warrior also gets warriors killed against good mesmers and necros.

So please change your 0 counter play comment since its completely false.

Today i did my PvP match ( i should of waited for decay so i could get more bonus rankings )

But i had a core fresh air ele on my team. Im at 1700 rating before the match and im like ok well lets see how this goes.

It was Me (shout ele d/w) a warrior, 2 thieves and the fresh air ele and we handled the other team pretty easily.

The fresh air ele actually beat the other teams s/f meta build ele in a 1 vs1. Call me shocked.

I asked before the game if he was shouts, i could tell he didnt want to say anything but i figured it out. But no one gave him flack before the match.

For me it comes down to can you play the core build at a acceptable level which many can not and a few can.

So hard to climb out of Silver I swear….

Trying to figure out a way for that matchup to happen during NA primetime, but I’m at a loss. That’s one for Evan to investigate. You may want to make a new thread about this so that it gets more visibility.

I’m pretty sure they’ve seen it and the other games I posted… I Don’t mind these games, gives me something to learn from but I am getting over the design of the system and how I’m supposed to climb, so it’s not the match I dislike.

Games are really fun when it’s full of Platinum players, I’ve actually got a chance to hold my own but seeing Naru hit top 5 last night was impressive, nj if you read this

I was in your group yesterday and added all of us at the end to check rankings.

They had 1751 (no242), 1931 (now no5), 1924, 1379, not sure
We had 1377, 1327, 1621 (me), 1625, not sure

I blocked those 2 to avoid, but they were representing as ‘offline’. So, I had to stop playing as no way I can avoid them. In addition, we duo had to queue for about 4 mins (not the instant pop-up) and lost 10 points for the match.

It should have been more balanced matchmaking first of all or at least less loss in this case given it was an almost guaranteed loss from the start.

Its funny, ive taken a few screen shots myself and i have a few in another thread as well as my own.

Back when we had solo que i use to see the top players all the time but the difference was they were on both teams. Literally 1 game Josre, Nos, Etc Etc players on 1 side and then tarcis, toker on the other and then me.

Its why you saw 65% win rates from the best players in the game.

Now its like 90% win rate gets you into legendary………. makes a whole lot of sense, hip hip hooray!!!!!!!!

everyone should go back and re-evaluate there own play. I do not consider myself to be a “GOOD” player. I was able to make it to PLAT while drunk and blazed on a GS D/W all wells chrono rune necro. Yeah i said GS Necro.

HOT has fallen completely flat to me, story wise, lore wise, map wise, the destruction of build diversity in PvP and WvW. I spent that money to show support for what a great game GW2 was, i will not be purchasing the next expansion after everything becoming toilets that must be fed with massive amounts of farming.

oh that before there wasnt massive toilets that must be fed with massive amounts of farming? if so why were ppl spamming dungeon tours all day long if not for the gold for the “toilets”

i understand that you wanted to see braham acting like an actual norm(me too) but think of the characters background how was his relationship with his mather and how was it cut off so soon after they started talking and connecting again (refering to lw2)
the fact that norms are writen as these being that act that way and are all about that stuff etc doesnt mean they are locked from expressing other emotions and feelings.

Im not mad with this direction as long as it properly develops and we see braham return to what the fans of the story want him to be.

Also about how the sylvari are different from what we were told and it was writen, im not sure what you mean there, i havent read books or anything so not really fammiliar with how the sylvari are different from what they were presented to be.

Ok so for me being a fan or the Norn culture and Sylvari the most. These are my favorite 2 races.

This expansion was suppose to give alot more insight to the Sylvari.

The Pale Tree was nurtured differently because of the Ventari Tablet and the people that helped her grow.

The Pale Tree is a Champion of Mordremoth, in the different story lines they have alluded to other Mother Trees. Our Sylvari had the strength given to us by the pale tree to choose our own paths. Hence the dream and ironically the dragon you fight coming from the dream state is the dragon that hurts the Mother Tree.

With the Living Story ending the way it did with Caithe, Faolin, the Pale Tree and Mordemoths awakening there should of been so much more to EVERYTHING.

Hot has been hot garbage compared to GW2 core story which had its own faults. GW2 core gave you a little story every where you went with dungeons and its explorable modes as well as the personal story which made way more sense the the HOT one.

Ive played threw the story on my asura ( i hated how my character knew nothing of technology. I understand that Anet made 1 story line for all classes so i can live with it though) and my Norn.( got a few complaints here as well but one again i can live with it)

When i started on my 3rd story run with my sylvari i had to stop 1/2 way. The first quest i stop a Sylvari from going mad, great stuff but after that its all down hill. Im the commander and there is all these hate-speech comments about sylvari and caithe. UMMMMMMMM HOW DOES THAT WORK WHEN IM STANDING RIGHT HERE?

Comments about the Pale tree and my characters inability to care for the very being that gave me LIFE AND FREE WILL.

Now of course this is my interpretation to the situation. I and my guild mates have discussed the story in details and we all remember different things and little things that stood out to us.

It is clear to me that the writers for the classes/races are gone since the story line has gone and blown up. On this very forum they have description of the classes and races. That type of depth and back round info is everything missing from HOT.

Its like if you wrote Star Wars with its vast characters and story lines. You quit and go else where and i take over and use a Sponge Bob movie line to finish out the Living Story.

We are officially a commander who has killed 2 elder Dragons with ease, with no back bone, no remorse/emotion towards the Pale Tree- Eir- Trahearne- and have no real knowledge of anything no matter what class or race you play.

Im fine with a lack luster interactive story if its good, this wasnt good and it didnt play to the MMORP this game is.
