They’re strong but at least they have clear weaknesses. That’s how it should be. A minor damage Nerf at best is all that is called for.

Ron, Reapers aren’t nearly as easy to to focus down as Necros were a year ago. You know you are in good times when you forget the bad times.

I was a proponent of reverting Chill damage at the very beginning, which got quite a few Necro mains mad at me. I even showed how it does more damage in a < 10 second fight than burst skills do, while also doing more damage than other individual skills/condis that was only similar in efficacy with the previous meta’s Burn damage (which doesn’t have cooldown or cripple like effects) as long as both players are actively playing.

But now I don’t want it reverted. I want it reverted, but with a Necro twist. I want the damage to be increased when the Necro is < 50% instead of the enemy. I think that’s more fun.

I came from WoW and it’s has some broken stuff too but this is like next level. People paying $40 for HoT to play meta builds and have amber rank to boost their main teams should be considered a real exploit.

I agree with you, OP.

People who say burst isn’t out of control because other classes have more burst, everything needs a nerf. This is just a small one for us compared to what needs to be bigger ones for others classes.

Those who say we have low Condi compared to Engie/War, that’s a little silly because they have high Pve condi damage and are mostly useless in PvE. Deathly Chill is nearly the opposite (still a good little boost in PvE though).

But more importantly, using the right build.

I agree with the first part, but the second part is the biggest bullkitten ever. Using the right build? With meta builds being the only viable options? Don’t make me laugh. There is 0 building skill involved in this game.
Even then, what does it matter if 1/5 players (you) has the ‘right’ build (whatever that means), you are still dependant on 4 other random pubs who you cannot control via mind control.

You didn’t quite understand what I was getting at with the last part. First of all, if I meant meta I would have said meta. Next, if you agree that dodging, positioning, and effectice damage rotations are part of a person’s skills then you should also agree that the person’s effectiveness is somewhat dependent on the build that allows them to do those things most effectively. Even the existence of Hardcounters is a proponent of this. And that leads me to what I was trying to insinuate: when playing against people of somewhat similar skill your build matters more than it should.

This is actually a very good suggestion. Let me refine it a bit:

  • The time between seasons will be the Pre Season for the next season.
  • At the start of the Pre Season, all MMR/ranking will be reset
  • Games played during the Pre Seasons will affect MMR.
  • After the Pre Season, everyone above the starting MMR threshold will receive bonus pips when the Season starts. Amount should be tuned so pro teams will start around Ruby/Sapphire.

Benefits:

  • Give people something to do during off season time
  • Seed the pro teams so they don’t have to play with below average players, leading to unpleasant experience for both teams.
  • Better match making overall.
  • Good incentive to play PvP, since winning a lot during the Pre Season give you a head start, but not too much. Giving bonus pips based on MMR also gives good incentive for people to play to their best instead of tanking MMR.

My suggestion before every season starts is to do three things:

- Reset MMR’s before every season

- Institute a Pre-Season for people to raise their MMR’s

- Everyone above a certain MMR get to start at a certain Division, and losing games when you start at this Division can lose you pips and reduce your Division

Reasoning: Everyone starts from a blank slate, it promotes winning games at the beginning by giving an incentive and it prevents MMR tanking. Maybe give people who raise their MMR enough during the Pre-Season a title to increase the incentive. Why am I suggesting this? Because I’m bored and playing PvP doesn’t sound all the interesting right now.

I made a thread about this when HoT came out. Only a few people seemed to care, but imo this is the worst display of professionalism that Anet could show. Sure, they could expect leagues to fix themselves as time goes on. Maybe they think the meta will change naturally. But when there is an obvious bug that so many skills show up as friendly skills and they do nothing about it, I lose all respect. It’s been over two months.

What type of dmg you exactly want to buff? The 3k autoattack? The 4k dodge? The 5k one chain of elite? or the 5.5 k sword 3? Or maybe the 11k backstab that comes from stealth?
What about survibility? Every single match ive played that has decent thief he has less deaths than any other player.
Its stupid to even consider that thief would need buff and not that some other classes need a nerf. Thief is class for expert players who are good at the game, if you want to buff it for bad players then first ask to nerf it at high end.

1. Really?……you are a Necro/Reaper complaining about thief damage. Just go into Reapershroud and 1 shot him. Both you and the theif (whos damage you posted) are obviously full glass, so just turn around and sneeze on him and he would be down.

2. You are a Necro, complaining about thief, Learn To Play.

3. Thieves do no where near that damage on all the tank build in the meta.

4. You are obviously a hotjoin player and took these in hotjoin since you had time to take a screenshot.

5. In addition tonlearn to play you need to learn to make a proper build for necro if you are losing to a thief.

Huh? Thief has shut down glass Necro for a long time. It’s a fight of attrition where the Necro can’t heal or generate LF. It’s the Thief’s fight to lose (which happens on occasion, because everyone except Toker makes mistakes).

You either aren’t thinking straight or do not understand the game well enough. Confer to Drarnor’s post on why the extra Toughness/Protection is irrelevant for Iron Skin but necessary for Diamond Skin. As for the Boon Ripping, it’s not a straight 1 for 1 trade. Warrior would be vulnerable to all control effects, unlike DS Ele, and Ele has the small opportunity to lose Protection every once in a while. Iron Skin would be super balanced when compared to Diamond skin but could never happen because of PvE.

Here’s the deal… what you’re saying doesn’t address any of the concerns. Extra toughness/protection would not effect condition damage pool required to get 10% gone with condi damage, but it’s absurd to claim that because you have access to protection which can be removed that you need to double the pool to make the numbers look better for you. Should we also add the infinite amount of condi reduction you can receive from resistance which you can get for 6 seconds from healing signet or 3 from defender runes? plus the boon duration which according to your calculations appeared infinite. Well that would be nonsense, but if it’s the gold standard we’re going by why not.

I was not saying extra toughness reduces condition damage. I’m saying you can’t just adjust the numbers as you please. The health adjustment for ele’s extra protection has to be in comparison to something in order to justify it. I’m saying that they’re not taking 40% less physical damage than a warrior because warrior base damage is 25% (x/920 vs x/1211) lower to start……… Some classes get physical damage reduction from toughness and others from protection so to say their health should be adjusted up to compensate for the lower physical damage they take doesn’t make sense……………………………… One can be stripped btw.

You’re still not addressing that every class has base attack damage for physical damage. No classes have base condi damage. Meaning that you’re not just introducing a hard counter you’re potentially eliminating thieves or pure physical classes. That doesn’t make sense. A condi necro still does some base physical damage and has a theoretical chance to break the 10% threshold. A thief zerker without some massive might boost could not possibly break the 10% threshold.

Additionally warrior has the highest base toughness and health. Ele breaks easily once you strip the protection and learn to interrupt the heals. It has counter play. Is it overall overpowered compared to average? Absolutely! Is introducing something several times worse going to improve the matter?

- Ele’s played well will have perma Protection. If you strip their Protection it can be instantly reapplied. So yes, assuming the damage reduction from Protection is there constantly is an option, especially for the classes that have no stripping. If we are comparing everything to fighting against a Rev, Warrior with IS is just as badly off. :/

- Warriors have to give up their health generation in order to gain Resistance, or the 3 seconds from Durability which is basically just a Block at that rate. That’s called a trade-off. If you want to create a “gold standard” then the Resistance we can assume is going to be stripped, and then they are in for a world of hurt with no healing and no Condi defense. Your complaint should be with Stances, in which case my response would be “They can already become completely immune, this just saves them a single utility slot.”

- The purpose of “Effective Health” is to combine Toughness (which all classes have) and damage modifiers for calculating how much damage is needed from a base mechanic in order to deplete that health. It’s common practice because it is accurate.

- There’s no real Warrior meta build so let me pick what was used previously… Marauder. Cele ele has higher Toughness than a Marauder Warrior. Toughness means so little unless it comes from an amulet.

- You’re right, it’s almost as if it counters a whole genre :O. Zero additional power damage is as useless against a DS Ele as zero additional condi damage would be against a IS Warrior. They are both next to useless. I could sit there with Necro Scepter trying to kill a DS Ele and they wouldn’t even have to pay attention. If you go through and look at base damages from condi/hybrid skills, the condi is often more potent than the power damage if left uncleansed.

- Warrior already breaks easily and would be just as easy to break after IS, it is literally the worst profession in the game for PvP right now. Your last point is moot.

Been playing quite a few matches with the meta ele.
Its not that good.
What is it ? 2 , 3 power hits and the grandmaster trait is gone. You cant expect to down the ele just from random aoe when you know most of them run this trait.

I dont like it. Current trait forces you to save condibombs for when you know they are going to be effective. With that rework, condi builds only need to spam and stack the dmg while they wait for the power dmg to go through.

Just give Ele’s a minus Condi Duration above a certain threshold that, with runes, could take away 100% or almost 100% of a condition’s duration. If they want to get complete Condition negation they have to invest more than just one trait, it keeps its potency as a defensive tool, and it allows Condi Specs to have a chance only if they invest in +Condi duration. It’s almost balanced.

So first off all protection is completely removable which is how you kill an ele fast. It is available to warrior a well and not a valid adjustment.

As you said it doesn’t even account for the difference between light and heavy armor. Base light armor is 920 vs heavy being 1211 which means base line warrior takes 30% less physical damage. That gets diluted by runes but it’s very misleading to claim effective health of ele needs to be increased because they have good access to protection which decreases damage similar to the toughness factors.

If they didn’t split the classes health and armor it would be way easier to balance but they don’t.

Second as I said before you have base power damage. It’s not necessarily going to be amazing on condi specs but on zerker specs you have virtually no condi damage. That is a massive difference.

Anyways I’ve been using this on my necro for a couple of days and I love it. The damage is great, rotation isn’t complicated, gear is basically what everyone has anyways. Surviving is even pretty easy too. Can’t wait for the other videos.

Looks good! I didn’t know Unholy Fervor boosted Death Shroud damage. That’s an interesting little fact.

How could you not know know this? Death Shroud damage scaling with your weapon damage is like one of the oldest Necro things.

Maybe because Anet said they removed that feature prior to the trait changes.

They also said they would release new fractals on a regular basis. Look how that turned out.

Bad example, but whatever.

I’ve since started testing the trait (again) and I’m seeing about a 2% damage increase on average. It’s weird to see such a consistent increase, but no outliers in the 10% range.

In 2 separate matches today an enemy revenant came through my portal exit with me as a mesmer. How is this possible?

Unrelenting assault has no boundary once started. It’ll follow you through anything. Try porting and when the unrelenting assault ends, port back.

Funny that you mentioned it twice. So I guess this is the way it’s supposed to be according to your logic: “The only time Ele’s can be killed is in the situations they are the least useful.” Right? If the situation where you can kill an ele is the situation he is also most useful in, then that is exactly how you should balance stuff.

I didnt say it is bad, I was just clarifying what I was saying. Remember, I’m supposedly on the side that believes Iron Skin should be added to Warrior and that it is balanced because it is like DS on Ele.

That’s not really the same…. warrior already has highest base toughness and health. Regular damage is way higher than condi and innate. If you don’t have might or condi dmg a zerker would literally never get through that. There are hard counters but that would be pretty insane.

Sounds pretty similar to me.

Iron Skin warrior 10% effective health versus condi’s = 2821 with Soldier amulet
DS auramancer 10% effective health versus power = 2586 with Cele amulet

10% of ele base health is 1165 vs 1921 for warrior. Cele amulet can add like 500ish to that which applys to both classes.

Not to mention condition damage is over time and can be cleared. So I see some pretty glaring differences.

I even gave Ele an advantage in the effective health comparison by using Soldier’s amulet on the Warrior (900 vs 560 Vit).No one runs around without armor and amulets in Pvp, so tell my why base health means more than real effective health.

And as for condi’s being cleared, health can also renewed by auras, soothing mist, healing skills, etc. Ele’s have as many ways of healing as Warriors have healing and condi clear. Ele’s also ignore soft CC and CC conditions like Chill, Fear, and Immob. Warriors wouldn’t ignore power based knockback, just the power damage. Hahaha dang, I didn’t think this would look so even.

So I’m saying that your math appears to be off for the ele. If you’re looking at just base health plus cele ammy that’s not 2500. Base health matters because they can both use any ammy or rune. And if you don’t address the fact that everyone has base power damage but no base condition damage then I still don’t get how you expect a zerker to break that threshold 1v1. They are completely different.

Warriors in PvP is comparable to Necros in PvE a year ago. The tables have turned a bit.

A tempest can easily burst down by two people. One breaks the 90% threshold and once a condi reaper or condi rev applies his condition burst, the tempest is dead.

So diamond skin really is only strong in 1v1. Could someone please explain to me why everyone thinks that he is supposed to be able to kill a bunker spec in a 1v1?

It’s not only strong 1v1, it’s only impossible to kill 1v1. Do you not understand that auramancer is designed as a teamfight spec and that the only place it can be killed is also the place where it is most useful? An auramancer getting burst down in a 2v1 is the result of the auramancer being out of position.

That’s not really the same…. warrior already has highest base toughness and health. Regular damage is way higher than condi and innate. If you don’t have might or condi dmg a zerker would literally never get through that. There are hard counters but that would be pretty insane.

Sounds pretty similar to me.

Iron Skin warrior 10% effective health versus condi’s = 2821 with Soldier amulet
DS auramancer 10% effective health versus power = 2586 with Cele amulet

10% of ele base health is 1165 vs 1921 for warrior. Cele amulet can add like 500ish to that which applys to both classes.

Not to mention condition damage is over time and can be cleared. So I see some pretty glaring differences.

I even gave Ele an advantage in the effective health comparison by using Soldier’s amulet on the Warrior (900 vs 560 Vit).No one runs around without armor and amulets in Pvp, so tell my why base health means more than real effective health.

And as for condi’s being cleared, health can also renewed by auras, soothing mist, healing skills, etc. Ele’s have as many ways of healing as Warriors have healing and condi clear. Ele’s also ignore soft CC and CC conditions like Chill, Fear, and Immob. Warriors wouldn’t ignore power based knockback, just the power damage. Hahaha dang, I didn’t think this would look so even.

I have no problem with losing. That was the first game I lost after a 10 game winning streak. Just how the match-ups are made doesn’t really make sense to me.
This was not the first time I played against a few ruby with a group of sapphire/emeralds only.

The game was 497-500, aka a close game. Typically that means the teams were about equal in abilities. 10 game win streaks also increase your MMR, they could be on a 10 game loss streak lowering their MMR.

I know that. I think that it shouldn’t be able to work that way. That’s my point.

So it should…

-Be based purely off MMR?
-Be based purely off of Rank (lol)?
-Be based purely off of League Rank?
-Not lose League points from close games?
-Not lose League points from games where they are a higher MMR or Rank or League Rank?
-Not pair teams of equal ability?
-Change MMR continuously?

League rank is indeed a poor choice since it does not predict skill well enough and can easily be abused by false amber.

I do think they should have made it win:+1 (winning by at least X score); loss -1 (loosing by at least X score) and tie: 0 (score equal or too close).

I agree, which is why I don’t get the big deal from that person’s post.

It’s a rather simple concept really, a nerf there and there won’t magically allow you to beat any player on the nerfed profession and that’s obvious I believe

The trait got clear weaknesses that requires some active thinking out of you, coming here to complain only shows that you( generally speaking) lack that ability to adapt to the situation.

The nerf to this trait, won’t make so that you will be able to beat those eles who murder you already without even using that trait in the first place.

In the end of the day meta auramancer is just a support build not a duellist build and that’s where lots of arguments fall flat against.

Nerfing that trait won’t stop the people who whine now to come once again on the forum asking for more nerfs because they lost yet another 1vs1 against an ele

But guess what, no matter how much you whine on the forum….no game will ever be balanced around you, so get out there…and learn to adapt

We all know the story – ruby is where it gets hard and everyone’s on the edge. But when i get blamed by my teammate for playing non-meta class (necro) that’s when line gets crossed.

So to all “meta whiners” (and those who don’t like it that their teammates “suck”):

If you didn’t go through effort of making your own premade team that has the professions you want manned by ppl you like, don’t go whining about what you get in solo queque.

play what you want, but don’t tell others then how you want them to play. none of your business.

Matchmaker-yet another fail

he is complaining about match prediction % not match making.
match making is doing a great job, but match prediction is not.

well match prediction is still kittened because as long as match prediction thinks you have at least 40% to win, you will lose 1 pip regardless of what score you get.

Actually, a BIG… and I mean really really big problem atm is teams tanking mmr and match MAKING not compensating for it.

Just group up with a lowbie, tank your overall mmr with that, get easy enemies and rake in the pips. If the divide is big enough, you wont loose more than one pip, but get 2 or more pips on a win. If you do that with a full premade, or even better… with a duo, you basically cant loose.

GZ ANET. You once again failed thinking things through.

This. The percentages are very reasonable, but it’s this that ruins it.

Every now and then, and by that i mean every 5 minutes, a condi reaper will come to forums and complain about diamond skin because it’s the only thing that counters it. It’s a much easier alternative than learning to play too. Cry enough and the devs will give in.

I say remove diamond skin and hail our reaper overlords.

Power Ranger does a pretty good job against Reapers, but, y’know…ranger and all. Scrappers would probably love more Reapers to take down. I really don’t like the frostfire spec, but I certainly think it would be healthier for the game if Ele’s weren’t how they currently are. Ele’s just does too much without any real counters, again.

Couldn’t help it and found myself giggling at my desk :P yet, Diamond skin is been there for ages and nobody cared, … the real cancer is Condition damage, now that is started being a thing. Condition damage is so broken that it takes only one attribute to max, ignores armor and toughness!

I’m getting tired of seeing this. People did complain about DS back in the celeddele Era but it was rare enough not to be a big concern.

Point 1) Because eles if necessary win effectively without DS

Point 2) At the time not every kid was running some condi tank so DS was a stupid trait to get anyway

Point 3) Everybody and his grandma uses a condi build in PvP/WvW..ask yourself why..that may be the reason DS is so loathed

This is all irrelevant to the fact that he said DS wasn’t complained about even though it was.
