shave 250 toughness off minstrel and add it as precision.

That ruins the point you don’t see zerker amulet with toughness…remove the boon duration and bring it back.

Well, the boon duration increase wasn’t even working while it was being used in tournies and it was problematic already in that state.

Link to videos where Minstrel’s was being used? Chaith only linked the finals of a tourney that had a single Minstrel’s Guardian and they lost like 150 to 500, Druids were using zerker and Celestial.

I’m pretty sure the Druids were using Minstrel, too. The second game had two bunkers autoattacking each other on a point for half the game. If I was a game developer and I saw that, I would have been embarrassed.

The chill buffs have been looking good in spvp. I run 3 necro builds in pvp now. Wish we had templates so I don’t have to use character slots. The two builds were cele signet and marauder reaper. Newest one is carrion deathly chill.

It’s not yet fully optimized because it’s something I quickly crafted but I’m pleased with its performance Qing Solo so far today.

its not overbuffed, chill removal is much easier than other conditions, because many abilities and traits include removal of immobilize, chill and cripple or reducing their duration

And Reaper has innate Chill duration bonuses, and you can take runes to increase that further. It’s a constant 600-900 damage for 40 seconds out of a 60 second fight, compare that to the damage and uptime of Terror, then add the recharge negation to it. Currently, Reaper’s attrition is phenomenal.

Instead of looking at the damage per tick, look at the damage per fight and how much that recharge negation really impacts some classes.

@Dead, are you comparing Chill to DH? DH is burst then bust, not to mention the most complained about class shouldn’t be your metric if measurement. That’s called powercreep and it’s bad for games.

Every death I had in sPvP against a Reaper had Chill as the biggest factor, with the right builds it just constantly pounds you down. Whoever is saying this is any sort of nerf should probably test it first.

It is funny how linecasting was actually a thing that nobody denies, which further means that people abusing it had such huge damage it was never intended by any means and people are still arguing how it didn’t contribute to improving run times.

I am not denying that maybe you can/could do equal or maybe even better time without it, but to claim how it didn’t matter is just insane and delusional.

And that argument how nobody wanted to do record runs because they knew everything would be reset soon is such a kitten because wasn’t that your last chance to be forever remembered as “best” before major change? From my point of view it was huge motivation to use that time to give your best to beat those times, not the opposite. It is easy and very convenient to hide behind that false excuse.

Linecasting was banned in records because of community agreement. See http://gw2dungeons.net/Rules and select one of the older rulesets. Rule 8.

I think you are the one being delusional. But i dont expect someone who has never done a record to understand that dps is not the biggest timesaver in most dungeons… Portals and stealth are. DPS is just necessary. If you only go for dps you end up with really slow runs compared to actual records though.

And you clearly dont understand the mindsets of those of us in the record scene if you think an out of date record gives us prestige. We compete for the fun of overcoming challenge in the now (setting the record or beeating a record is fun, holding onto it with no challengers is boring). One of the reasons we reset the records is to allow that competition to continue in the case that a balance patch makes a certain record unbeatable. Although so far there have been many cases where it seemed like it would be unbeatable in some cases(fgs nerf, ferocity patch, might nerf etc etc), and then it was proved wrong by new strategies and innovations.

I sense im probably beating a dead horse right now though.

It probably doesnt seem like it on here, but I used to speedrun before I played this game. I decided against speedrunning on here for reasons, but I agree with spoj.

- People want to be the first to do something. Being the last doesn’t mean much of anything. That alone means that people will be practicing to come out of the gates headfirst when the reset happens.
- Pre-reset is like the days between when a truce is reached and when the truce begins. Very few are interested in participating because they know it will be over soon.
- Innovation is amazingly fun, and with all the new specializations there’s a lot of innovation to discover before you buckle down for speedrunning. Some communities are secretive about their techniques until they actually set a record (or make an official attempt). I don’t know how this one is.
- There’s other new stuff they may as well enjoy before reset.

Weakening Shroud has the bonus of crits giving weakness, so it has a purpose outside of shroud as well, which is something that Spiteful Spirit could use.

Going by that logic of weakening shroud… It should give retal on getting hit with a icd?

I’d prefer cripple or boon corruption on hit honestly. They could make it a hybrid and add additional direct and condition damage to crippled foes or under the effect of retaliation.

Any of those would be amazing.

I’m now using it on a hybrid-Viper build and “just a little more” would really help out.

Honestly, I don’t even really like it in my builds for the damage, I like it for the fact that it cleanses blinds and corrupts boons when playing a condi build. While it’s probably worth looking into sorting out the damage numbers, I don’t feel that’s the most compelling reason to run it.

Just look at what it is competing with, two very build definining traits being Close to Death and Signets of Suffering. The least it could be improved by is doing the damage it is supposed to do.

You’re not wrong; a place for everything and everything in its place, right?

I guess the real question then is even if they pumped the power on it to match the actual skill, would you even choose to run it over the other two GMs then? What I was saying in my post is that I found the only builds that I ever really wanted Spiteful Spirit on were Condi builds that were running more utility (such as CPP) and Corrupt Boon rather than signets, at which point a power creep on it wouldn’t even change my opinion on where I use it.

It has it’s uses, and it would become more viable on my build. The difference is 400-700 damage on up to 5 targets without much Might.

I’m a normal Necro since I didn’t buy HoT. It’s more difficult for sure, but that was to be expected. From a developer standpoint, it’s hard to make completely new specializations, that people will use for a while, without making them somewhat superior to what was available prior.

Post-evade location manipulation and boon Corruption. Know when they are going to be ending their evade based attacks and position yourself to land important hits. You have more control of them when they use UA than they have of themselves, back them into a corner or near a ledge.

Make sure to have “Stow Weapon” assigned to a button that is easily reachable to limit the Glint heal.

What constitutes a projectile?

Projectiles are “missiles” that have a direction and speed attached to them (some track, others don’t). Mesmer GS has a “beam” come out of it that doesn’t travel and has no speed attached to it. What’s also interesting to note is that projectiles that are Ground Targetting skills do not react to reflects/projectile destruction.

Examples of projectiles of each skill activation type:
Chain Skill – Mesmer Scepter 1
Channeled Skill – Ranger Longbow 2
Sequence Skill – Guardian Staff 2

So, just think to yourself…
Is there an object? If yes, move to next question.
Is this object moving toward its target or the direction it was aimed at? If yes move to next question.
Is this skill ground targetting? If no, it is a projectile.

Not all projectiles can be reflect/destroyed. Some things that may appear to be projectiles are not.

A solution for Necro.

Hate to be that guy, but herald rev is countered by conditions and boon stripping. Necro can tank the UA, because rev just straight up loses to it.

A solution for Necro.

Don’t suck. A Necromancer should never lose 1v1 to a Revenant, especially after the last nerf that buffed our self healing to Godly levels.

Necromancer counters Rev. Sword 3 the same way it counters most everything else… you live through it and kill them when it’s over. Necromancer has always and will always be low on interrupts, blinds, etc. because we are designed to eat damage with our 26k health and 21k Shroud. If you find Rev. Sword 3 to be a game changer you are doing it wrong.

Sorry guys, I didn’t know that we were just talking about 1v1’s. This wasn’t a question of Necro vs Rev, it was Necro vs UA, in which case the answer is to take all the damage. Thanks.

I wish I had seen this post when It was current.

Anyway… I agree to an extent. I mean it’s just a sign of the times, the world we live in, in 2015 where teenagers have 6 second attention spans. I know people that actually think Reading and Writing are work…Not just kids either, this new way of thinking which is essentially letting someone else think for you, seems to have no age, race, or sex prejudice. Probably half the People in the United States have no attention spans anymore, are lazy, and don’t even make their gaming experiences unique, because I guess it’s just to hard to think… Most people can’t even read and comprehend more than 1 sentence these days, and if you write a post this long people call it a “Wall” of text. You can thank the abundance of over stimulated, audio and video media that is constantly being shoved in our faces, I mean kids listening to music, while instagramming, wathing TV, and playing a game all at once. Crazy…

But back to GW2, I am surprised at how many people do not even know what their traits actually do (especially the minor ones). Meta Battle actually had a site towards the end of GW1, so that downfall began some time ago. Some of the best gaming experiences in any game, are when no one knows anything. Back before youtube videos telling you how to do everything, games were much more satisfying. But this is a choice, a choice people do not have to make, just like back in the 90’s there were people that bought cheat guides and people that did not. Part of the fun for some of us was figuring stuff out for yourself.

I remember in the early days of GW1 when no one knew anything, and their were so many possible skill combinations there were some builds, and amazing ideas. Remember how insanely hard the Crystal Desert trial were? Remember people in game talking about strategies, sharing ideas, and forming parties? Now people just YouTube it… Still it is a choice, so I think people like us just need to seek out like minded people.

If someone says it’s Meta everyone is like : “OH ITS META! That means it’s the best and there is no reason to build anything else!” but truthfully I think that is only half of the community. I play crazy builds and make them work, I even make videos about them and get some great feedback, and my videos are always about encouraging people to just use their brain, and try new things, because who are these guys at Meta battle anyway? Also have you noticed how often the Meta status changes lately? Clearly these builds are not better than any build you put some time and effort into building yourself. People just need to care again, and stop being lazy.

Disregarding your rant, yes Metabattle does present a problem for people who like to take the easy way out. Sometimes there are immature people who will criticize others for not using a “Meta” build, it also lets people find viable builds who want to be effective but are incapable of figuring out themselves. It’s also good for jokes like the meta^2 builds during the Ele reign.

Sigil of Speed: Grants 10s / 14s / 20s of Swiftness on kill

This one is…tricky. If you go to PvP there is now a new unlockable sigil called Superior sigil of speed. It gives Swiftness and Quickness on weapon swap. Completely broken, I know.

It gets confusing because Gaile Gray said that it has been renamed to Sigil of Agility. How they got this wrong in the first place confounds me.

It gets even more confusing because she said it was renamed as part of an item scribes can make, and I have no way of checking because I can’t get scribe yet.

I wouldn’t say it’s OP, it’s 1 second of Quickness.

You just be banned IMO just for asking this. Ruining other’s experiences just because you are a bit kittened off about HoT is selfish, childish behaviour. Please take a step back and even just play a different game or do something else with your time.

Has anyone ever been banned for going afk? Much less just asking a question?

Again, as a bad player is there any reason to not go afk to get my PvP reward tracks? As far as ruining other people’s experiences, I can understand that concern. So let’s say I recruit a pre-made team of other bad players who want to do the same thing? That way I’m not letting my teammates down.

That’s actually a pretty good idea. Afk PvP guilds for optimum afk’ing rewards.

Also, I’m glad you made this thread. Maybe I’m putting more into it than I should, but you are making some good points.

Why haven’t I seen a Ring of Warding double bounce an opponent through Test of Faith as they try to dodge through, and follow up with Banish? 3-4 crossings with the only counterplay being Invuln/stability. It might be hard to pull off, but sounds fun.

Bunker Guard is Dead

I’m not particularly fond of cele either but if they’re willing to remove one amulet maybe they’re willing to remove another.

Just an example, last week in the last Go4 Cup, the Abjured ran Soldiers x2, Marauder x2, and one Celestial (Tempest).

Removing Celestial Amulet would just absolutely delete Elementalists/Tempests from the game. They aren’t dominant right now, but I’m expect people to argue that they are. People need to put down the Celestial Amulet pitchforks, it’s kind of in the past.

Cele Hammer Scrapper on-point fighter is pretty darn amazing, but it’s not really what my team needs yet, so I’m stronger playing a higher damage Soldiers Roamer.

I think deleting Celestial is a possible balance move, as it would be extremely easy to adapt to, from the current meta picks. Unfortunately, it really wouldn’t affect much other than replacing all Eles/Tempests with Cleric Druids.

Then would Soldiers Amulet become the evil cancer? Haha. It’s an amusing concept.

So that tourney was before Minstrel’s deletion. Where are all the less than 200 points on both teams timer matches you spoke of.

I’m not particularly fond of cele either but if they’re willing to remove one amulet maybe they’re willing to remove another.

Just an example, last week in the last Go4 Cup, the Abjured ran Soldiers x2, Marauder x2, and one Celestial (Tempest).

Removing Celestial Amulet would just absolutely delete Elementalists/Tempests from the game. They aren’t dominant right now, but I’m expect people to argue that they are. People need to put down the Celestial Amulet pitchforks, it’s kind of in the past.

Cele Hammer Scrapper on-point fighter is pretty darn amazing, but it’s not really what my team needs yet, so I’m stronger playing a higher damage Soldiers Roamer.

I think deleting Celestial is a possible balance move, as it would be extremely easy to adapt to, from the current meta picks. Unfortunately, it really wouldn’t affect much other than replacing all Eles/Tempests with Cleric Druids.

Then would Soldiers Amulet become the evil cancer? Haha. It’s an amusing concept.

So that tourney was before Minstrel’s deletion. Where are all the less than 200 points on both teams timer matches you spoke of.

Probably on EU, where he said they were.

Still haven’t seen any videos of this either way.

Doesn’t matter to me. I’m just pointing out that when someone says it’s on the EU server and you point that it’s not on a NA video that you aren’t helping your cause.

So EU is either worse or better than NA at basic team building logic.

I’m torn.

It clearly does more damage than the /laugh emote, but it doesn’t have the same psychological effect of the /laugh emote. I just don’t know which one to use in a PvP fight when I’ve used up all my skills.

Sigil of Speed: Grants 10s / 14s / 20s of Swiftness on kill

It now grants Swiftness and Quickness on swap. Im using it with Chrono runes on a Well build.
