I was hoping for some kind of Desciple of Balthazar with staff, something that functions a little like battlemage in heavy armor for example.

Anyway honestly, it doesn’t matter what the weapon is, if the design and skills are good. The weapon can be a barbie doll for all I care, as long as it’s effective. The name “Spell breaker” does suggest to me that maybe it might not be such a melee orientated spec. I think Warrior could really use some nice ranged aoe type of weapon skills…

But I think that way because I’m a GvG WvW only player at this point and that’s what works there, it’s something that always comes in handy…

Very nicely written Nightshade. I wish there were more like-minded people around these days, as what I’ve been witnessing lately in /t chat got to the point of disgust. Unfortunately it is common human behavior and I guess people just have to identify themselves with something to feel their “Self” and they obviously need to create the chasm between “me” and “them”, “you” and “I”, play the game of praising and blaming, them being right and others being wrong. How ever you want to describe all that, it’s a rather complex topic.

I do consider myself a WvW player, but that is only to state the fact that WvW is all I play in this game, whereas some people I’ve seen in /t chat made an actual identity for themselves out of it and they conceptualized others in their minds from the fact that those people are PvE players, which was enough for them to start disrespectful flame wars. Rather sad.

Bottom line, I’m very happy to see more players in WvW, no matter what game mode they come from. It’s just a shame that Anet failed to prepare the grounds for the huge influx of players, because in doing that, they would make this whole update much more enjoyable for us all and they would increase the chances of more new players sticking around for longer.

I think that the big majority of people are really AFKing because they don’t want to re queue. Honestly who can blame them, the ground wasn’t prepared for the huge influx of players… and yeah, today when I get from work and once I get into any map I do not intend to leave it, even while I’m having dinner, shower,…

The wait time is only 20 to 30 minutes with a 50+ Q, just run a farm route while you wait.

There are way too many factors that determine the speed of queue to just generalize how long a 50 man queue takes.

Hi,

First off, I’m really happy to see some update on WvW and yesterday clearly showed just how alive the game mode could still be, if only given some small attention.

It’s nice to see new and returning players playing the game again and up until that point your plan to bring players back into WvW has worked well. However, you have failed to prepare the grounds for the influx of players. Yesterday on EU FSP server the queues were hitting up to 100 people in average on all WvW maps. So my confusion here and what seems to be a conflict of interests on your part is that you’re trying to bring players back into WvW and yet on the other hand, more than half of players that want to play are stuck in queues. That leads to a fast drop of interest in the game mode among both new and old players of WvW.

Some people might think to transfer to a less populated server(link) in this case, but your reward policy at this point basically pigeonholed them into staying on current server, if they want to get the new rewards. I cannot even imagine how guilds will be raiding, if the current situation persists. There’s simply no way to get 15-20 people into one map unless everyone starts queuing 2-3 hours beforehand.

Please consider making an emergency server re-link come friday 9.6., if we want this situation remotely under control.

I actually find it to be in worst state ever. I don’t even bother using that skill to damage anymore.

I really can’t see why it is so hard for Anet to just make this skill propel you towards your target with really high speed.

For kittens sake, classes in this game have shadow step, but Warriors have to use gap closers that are hardly any faster than normal run speed and miss everything in the end. Yeah, makes complete sense…

10 players during night time in EU can achieve more than 200 players during EU prime/day time.

I love how everyone sees reducing the impact of nightcap unfair to some players, but no one sees the unfairness of the fact that I stated above.

People can be so biased and ignorant when the objective arguments hurt them…

And to OP, not sure if you’re trolling or do you really think that WvWvW refers to planet Earth and not maybe perhaps the world there is actually considered to be one server. So – Server vs Server vs Server : WvWvW. Got it? Server <=> World. Yes?

Anyway, nightcap impact has to be brought down. It will still have its role, but proportional to the amount of people playing during that time, which is the only right thing to do. If you call that injustice, then your understanding of “justice” is heavily distorted.

regardless of being stacked or not, if you ignore a relevant part of the game mode you don’t need to wonder to drop down the ladder.

What makes you think anyone is ignoring a relevant part of the game?

Or better yet, is staying up through the night, from 00.00 to 06.00 a relevant part of the game?

Are you really so sure of your assumptions that you can conclude that someone is ignoring a relevant part of the game instead of the fact that maybe a server just doesn’t have a night crew?

Those numbers speak volumes there…

The amount of constructive ideas about warrior on this forum by now was huge. There have been threads made by people that really wrote them well and knew what they’re talking about. Anet basically hasn’t listened to a single one of those proposals.

You have two choices. Give it all up, or hope that they will fix it in the next patch 3 months from now lol, like we’ve been hoping for 3 years now.

The PPK points summed up to be about 45-55% of the total server score at the end of the week. So imo, perfectly fair, or it should actually be even more. I’d rather reward killing players over karma rotation of paper towers and keeps.

Back then no one abused anything. If anyone will waste time trying to abuse that, lol, glhf making a difference to a score that basically means nothing at all.

You people really should relax a bit.

If that is the case and they are going full zerk, it means they are made out of glass. Kill him before he kills you mindset, or use that cool dodge feature

Also this damage output is not possible is sPvP, not even remotely close honestly. (the build you linked to has sharpening stones, food modifiers, and might infusions) . To nerf let alone balance around WvW a specific class makes no sense simply because the stats are wildly off balance to start. sPvP is probably closest way for ANET to actually balance this game because all stats are flat lined (no ascended gear as well)

Yes, full zerk is what Revs in WvW raids run and please stop with the “dodge” and “sidestep” arguments already, because it only shows ignorance or narrow mindedness/fixation to only one part of the game. I won’t even bother replying to those arguments WvW raid context anymore, because if someone doesn’t understand why those “cool features” don’t work well against CoR in WvW raids, that person shouldn’t be trying to teach people “how to GW2” on forums in the first place.

This thread (ass all other threads concerning CoR) has been made with relation to WvW, so debating whether or not this kind of damage can be achieved in spvp is completely pointless.

Fact is that Anet made a skill that is beyond broken in WvW raid environment and if they’re a good developer they have to find a way to fix it. Simple as that. The fact that they did not see this coming is sad enough already, because I knew CoR is going to be the new thing in WvW as soon as I saw how the skill works. It’s a perfect skill to stack with a couple of more Revs and just fire away towards the enemy blob. Success guaranteed. And saying that nerfing CoR will only hurt Hammer in other game modes is a bad argument also. First of all it doesn’t have to, second: Hammer is not represented in other game modes AFAIK anyway and that is nothing new in GW2. Every class in GW2 has a specific weapon set that is more popular in some game modes than in others. Nothing wrong with that and Anet confirmed that will always be the case.

Other classes can do the same damage output…. I am not understanding your arguement. If I pulled a DH and used true shot with the same build out (full zerk) and fired true shot. The damage would also be on part. (just using DH as an example, but power ranger as well with rapidshot)

Also you aren’t taking in account energy output on the revnant. There is more than just cooldown time for revs. If they don’t have enough energy they can’t use the skill.

- By nature rapid shot or true shot cannot be stacked as efficiently as CoR can, there’s no way you can compare those skills. It’s not all about the damage but the nature of the skill. If you think it’s the same you can try running a WvW raid with 5 rapid shot and fire away at the enemy raid. Also don’t forget to watch them laugh at you while you do it.
- CoR energy cost is a complete non-factor.


Just like any other topic about CoR this one was also opened with concern to its state in WvW environment. Not spvp, not pve, not even WvW roaming probably. And yet again I see tons of repliers that comment on it from a completely different perspective, not having a clue how this skill actually works in WvW raid environment. It makes me wonder why people like to talk so much about things they know nothing about…

um there is no way he can hit you that hard if you have 3200 armor….. Unless he has might + bloodlust + you have vulnerability + other traits increasing dmg done to you.
Assuming his weapon strength is 1166 (Max according to gw2 wiki), the hammer 2 ability has coefficient of 2.25 (this is for the final impact which has the highest coefficient). Using the equation (acquired from the wiki):

dmgdone = weapon strength*power*coefficient / armor
dmgdone = 1166*4000*2.25/3200
dmgdone = 3279.375

This is assuming that he actually has 4000 power…. he cannot achieve this without alot of might + bloodlust + traits. This is also assuming that he doesn’t crit. So let’s assume that it’s a crit and he has 250% critical dmg (Assuming he actually can achieve this amount which is not possible without traits and other players buffing him). Meaning that we multiply the base dmg done (3279.375) by 2.5. This will make him do 8198.4375 dmg.

So as you can see, I have assumed that he has very high stats (4000 power + 250% critical dmg) and he only did 8198.4375 dmg, however this dmg does not factor in vulerability. Let’s assume that you have 25 stacks of vulerability which increases dmg done to you by 25%. The total amount of dmg that could be done is 10248.

To conclude in no kittening way do you have 3200 armor because I gave him absurdly high stats, and gave you 25 stacks of vulerability. You also said that you dont have any blocks, so there is no way cruel repercussion (rev trait) can activate. But if it did, it would do around the amount shown in your battle log (this is very unlikely because he would need absurdly high stats, you need to have 25 stacks of vul) So I determined that you are full of crap.

^ full zerk build (all ascended), scholar runes, best possible power increasing foods, all power infusions, max might, max bloodlust stacks won’t even give you 4k power… Having this and 250% crit dmg is rediculous, so if he can gets this high of stats, it makes sense that he can do so much dmg to you.

…I think he just rekt this thread with math facts…

Actually he didn’t, because he used a wrong way of how damage modifiers stack, or better yet, he did not use all of them. Also he used wrong damage coeficient for third hit on CoR. Even so, we can take the base damage that he calculated:

3279 (with correct damage coeficient of CoR it’s even higher).

And now we use the CORRECT way of how damage coefficients stack and ALL of those that this Rev had, we get the following:

3279 * 2,5(assuming 250% crit damage) * 1,07 (7% damage from Ferocious Agression) * 1,5 (50% damage from Cruel repercussion) = 13156 damage

Tadaaa. Without vulnerability.

So yes, damage on screenshot is possible on 3200 armor.

I’d put it this way – Mallyx is not as good as the number of them on ESL tournament suggests.

Now of course, there’s many ways you could argument that I’m wrong about it. I may be wrong and I’m definitely not the most experienced Rev around. I have played matches on it tho and my feelings about it were mixed.

Also, looking at ESL games I couldn’t see as much value in Mallyx Revs that would excuse taking two of them per team…

Again, I may be wrong, but please enlighten me if I am, because I’m actually curious and opened to new knowledge

Unfortunately not atm.

Hopes were high in WvW community before the release of HoT. Many guilds and solo players took a break until the release of HoT, many of them came back when HoT was released, but basically all of them quit again, along with those that didn’t even take a break. WvW has never been in a worse state than it is now…

It could have been much more…

Yet another pointless decision that only annoys the WvW players in this game further more. Those of us that are left anyway. Not that there’s many tho. There’s more NPCs on borderland maps than players.

It’s funny that even when there’s a good functionality going on, it ends up being a bug, not an actual Anet decision. Ha!

And I’m wondering how exactly did they see the fact that we could use PoH on other characters a danger to the game in any possible way?

But at least now we can see that they are not completely blind to the WvW community. They’re pretty fast on removing things that make our game experience easier. Wish they were as fast in fixing things that make our game experience worse…

This opening post is one of those, that while you’re reading it, you’re almost screaming “YES!! YESSSS!” and you’ve got this huge urge, that you could grab someone from Anet and tell them “Read this, just read it!!!”.

Great post, exceptionally well written. A shame that there’s 0.001% chance that someone from Anet will acutally respond to it, or even read it. Still I really appreciate the effort you put into writing this down and of course I thoroughly agree with what was said in OP.

A problem with Warrior's design.

For me the thing is pretty simple. When I went through other specs new traits/weapons, when I went through Revenant traits and abilities, when I looked at it’s design, there was only one conclusion that I’ve drawn in my mind.

-Warrior’s design is horribly outdated. Even more, currently Warrior with its design and how his weapons and utility skills work, how his traits work, feels like it’s a class from another game -a game that is actually better balanced than the current GW2 is, but hey, let’s put the fact of powercreep aside for now.

Maybe we can hope that Anet is actually working on something bigger for warriors now that we have been QQing on the forums for months. I hope that’s what this reluctance to touch them for a few patches now is saying.

And as I said a couple of times already. If Warriors design remains as it is (oversimplified), the class will never be in balance. Either overpowerd or underpowerd or stuck with some build that isn’t really using it’s mechanics, as you said YuiRS on Shoutbow example… But even that was nerfed and then HoT also provided with better alternatives

Seeing how other classes are getting awesome things for themselves and their party support, why not make a dream of our own. I would like to see my Warrior wanted in sPvP and WvW guild raids again. I want to see people joyful when they see my warrior’s presence.

With that being said, let’s make warriors as wanted as some other classes/specs out there.

Our signets are so selfish. Let’s make our signets passive also pulse stuff for our party:
Dolyak signet pulse 1 stack of 5s stabi every 5 seconds.
Signet of might pulse 2 unblockable attacks every 5 seconds (oh this one is good!) or 3 stacks of 10s might every 5 seconds.
Signet of stamina pulse remove 1 condition every 5 seconds.
…And so on and so forth…

Yes more passive play, because obviously that’s the way it’s all going…

There, warrior remotely fixed? Everyone loves us again? And no, I did not steal Revs facet ideas. Revs stole what should be warriors in the first place! o/

Throw in reverted adrenaline mechanics change followed by physical buff and Rage skills complete remake and we’re almost good to go!

Basically I have Charr war for WvW guild raids and PvE and Asura War for spvp and WvW roaming. I also have a Norn warrior, but it’s just boring. Some people say that Charrs have aesthetic problems, but in my opinion there’s quite a few ways of making charr look nice in heavy armor. More than Norn I’d say.

This game has changed a lot since the release. And the changes that were made to it have all worked against the idea of what warrior is in this game.

There is no other way to make Warrior viable, but to basically make a complete reconstruction of the class.
The foundations of this class are so rotten right down to the core that there’s obviously only two ways warriors live: they are either useless or almost godlike. And there’s proof of that, just take a loot at a 3 year history of warriors since release and until now.

Because the core of the class, the basic idea of it, is bad, the class itself is stuck in this endless circle of being bad or having a build that is gimicky OP. You cannot build on such core, and the sooner Anet realize that and act on it, the sooner this class my see some sort of decent life. Until then it will not. At least not in PvP and WvW.

If Anet accepted that earlier on and acted on it they could make the class work sooner. But what they did instead is just make another heavy class and gave it all kinds of things that warrior should acutally have, and the rest of the good ideas they gave to guardian. Now there’s nothing unique they can really do with warrior anymore.

I could accept that our whole class is kitten, if we (as masters of weapons) at least had the best weapon skills. But no, our weapon skills are also at the bottom of the barrel in this game.

If we take a look at the latest buff that they gave us (17% damage in berserker tree though 2 trait changes), you can see how clueless and ignorant about this class problems they actually are. 0 effort was put into that. ZERO EFFORT, Zero care and zero thought. Which is why I have no hope of them fixing Warrior anytime soon. Or ever.

Honestly I can’t even bother typing down my proposals. There would be too many… At this point warrior weapon skills compared to other skills that other classes got with their specs, are so outdated, I won’t even start. I mean, If Anet can’t take a look at those things and compare warrior skills to the ones they just added into the game, and if they can’t see a problem there, no matter what my proposals here are, things will never get any better anyway…

The arguments in defense of this skill are hilarious. Just strafe, yeah lolk, zerg strafes everytime they see a CoR coming, that will get us places. Just dodge, yeah lolk, lets dodge everytime we see a CoR, wasting our dodges when our melee hits one another, that will get us places. Seriously, do you guys even take the time to think how idiotic your solutions sound?

No more idiotic than nerfing a skill because of WvW, really.

…and only when certain conditions also are meet like being within a max range in around 1200, have a power build (berserker type) with enough stack of might and power from bloodlust sigil together with fury. Not to forget it must also be blocked first in some way, so you will trigger 50% more damage within 10 second (15 second recharge).

In short: how often does it really happen?

Just like all the time for example? lol. How hard do you think it is, to meet those conditions in WvW raid?

I find it a bit ridiculous debating one skill balance in WvW environment with people that clearly never set food into WvW, let alone have an acutal serious guild raid in there… And this is what this topic has turned into.

Try to understand what happens when you have 10 revenants spamming CoR every 2 seconds.

You are assuming that you will be always fighting the revenants from distance the whole time, correct? Because CoR on close range is not a big deal. Let me tell you this, and I will mimic your words:

1- Try to understand what happens when you have 10 reapers spamming Wells only one time (which is enough, no need to consider the cooldowns anymore).
2- Try to understand what happens when you have 10 rangers spamming Rapid Fire from distance (which is enough, no need to consider the cooldowns anymore).
3- This is a funny one: Try to understand what happens when you have 10 eles spamming meteor shower followed by statics followed by chills followed by, followed by, followed by and then repeat again from distance.

You, sir, will deserve anything happen to you and your group if you will assume that you will mainly fight the front-lines and leaving the back-lines free casting on you, no matter what class they are.

Again CoR for WvW, there is no room to complain about. For PvP, anyone if you have problem with this skill, just L2P. You can literally walk in circles and CoR will not touch you. People just stand there.

1. Why would cooldown not be considered? You guys keep on going on about how easy it is to avoid CoR and then claim that CD should not be considered. What good is avoiding CoR spike from 5-6 or even more Revenants when you know that in 2 seconds there will be another one?
Anyway, I can imagine what happens when 10 wells drop. I’ve seen it happen plenty of times. It can be avoided, much easier than CoR spike. And I’ve seen what happens when 10 CoRs suddenly drop half of your group. Wells are 900 range, CoR is 1200, which means that necros often have to deal with great amount of (random) damage before they even get to drop the wells. Anyway, 10 wells, dangerous but manageable.

2. Never seen 10 rangers spamming Rapid Fire in raid groups. I really wonder why… maybe because it sux?

3. Again something that we have been encountering in blob fights in all the years till now. We survived. Meteor shower is a 3 3/4 cast time and 30 second cooldown it deals massive damage as it is supposed to for such a spell. You can walk out of it. Statics are a powerful tool, 40 second cooldown, they kitten d us if guardians didn’t spend their stabi (mainly Courage) at the right moment… Yet we survived, even after stabi changes.

Yes, there is room to complain about CoR in WvW.

kitten, warriors have a cripple on ONE weapon that isn’t on a massive cooldown and isn’t stupidly easily dodged. Hell, GS4’s cripple (assuming it hits – protip: it wont) will wear off before you even get to your target in most cases.

Whoever the current warrior designer is should probably be put out to pasture.

It’s funny when I think of it now… The only time GS4 was an actual useful working skill was back at the release of the game when it was bugged with certain traits, so you could throw it at a bunch of NPCs or a Minionmancer and it would do ever increasing damage, up to 25k+. So everything just dropped dead.

We have been saying that GS4 is way too slow and unreliable. Did anything change? HA! NO!

Right now you could slap “pull”, “unblockable” and “immobilize” effects on GS4 and it would still be kitten skill. The sword flight speed is so low, I can almost catch my own sword midflight.

Just… whatever…

All the cool warrior skills are given to Guardians and Revs.
For example: before berserker specs reveal people have been begging for warriors to get spear as a land weapon. People have also been begging for some pulls on warrior because we have very limited tools to stick to our target.

What happened? Simple, Guardian gets a piercing spear 1200 range multipletarget UBBLOCKABLE pull that is extremely reliable. It’s almost as good as “Throw Bolas”!!!

When it comes to Hammer it seems like Rev could easily teach warriors a couple of tricks, and Revs could also teach Warriors a couple of tricks on how to not be a selfish class and instead be able to stack all kinds of boons on your party. It makes people love you!

The only reasons to stick to war is the reasons why I’m sticking to it:
1. Being stubborn as kitten
2. Like to stand out with your class choice. I always play the class that is the least popular.
3. I like the sense of accomplishment when I do well in spvp and WvW with warrior. With maximum effort, some skill and some luck you can be almost as effective as many other classes right now without effort, no skill and no luck.

Can you people please at least read the OP before you post your comments. The OP is talking about CoR in WvW environment and what I see here is people saying “strafe to avoid”, “aegis” and even comparing CoR with Rapid Fire….

Try to understand what happens when you have 10 revenants spamming CoR every 2 seconds.
2.0 damage coefficient at 1200 range is just too much. There has to be other ways of making this skill useful without it ruining one whole game mode like it’s doing now. Wow I wish Warrior had any skills that are so easy to use with 2.0 damage modifier… Turn towards enemy raid and fire away. Again I want you to understand we are not talking spvp nor pve here. This is WvW.

Like it or not, WvW is also a part of this game. Altho I’m getting a feeling that even Anet is having trouble accepting that fact…

Actually.. it got old…
Boring…
Everyone around us got something shiny and new to play with..and we have to stick with the old fur ball.
That is not fun.
That is not fair.
That is just plain stupid..
To make an elite spec relly on adrenaline when the adrenaline decay is absurd is just plain stupid.. to make so many mandatory traits on a class that there is no build diveraity available is also stupid..
And to call that class master of weapons and strenght and speed..
Lol….

Let me axe you a question. When you see patch notes in today’s patch and you see that nothing has changed (let’s face the truth here, they won’t make anything special for warrior in this patch, maybe they never will, because they don’t seem to understand the problem the class is facing) will you laugh or cry about it?

This skill atm is ruining WvW raids even further than they were ruined before with stabi changes and the shift towards pirateshipping.

2,0 damage coefficient at 1200 range, on 2 seconds cooldown, 5 targets, gg Anet!! It’s like… I don’t even know what to say about those numbers up there, really…

Then may i suggest fully upgrading SM and use the much anticipated feature, the stealth fountain to hide in, 2 min stealth.

Sounds like a lot of fun…
