Hi everybody! I notice a lot of folks seem to have issues with something they might not even realize is a problem! When you post a youtube video link to this forum, the forum code automatically creates a space in your post for an embedded video. But since embedding is not enabled, there’s just a big ol’ gross block of white space with nothing there. This white space persists even when people quote your posts. I’m a big ol’ dummy, some browsers doesn’t show the embedded video! Like so:
Ugh! Just look at all that extra space! Gross!
But never fear, something CAN be done about it! Simply click the Share button under the Youtube video window, then copy and paste the shortened URL in the text box. Like so!
See? No messy, gross, disgusting, unneeded, cluttering, awful, terrible, horrible, pointless, unnecessary white space! I’ve attached a picture below to help you out if you have trouble finding it.
Happy linking!

If it’s 30 minutes with a good, fast group, I and many others will treat it just like the Molten Facility (also ~30m on a speedy group): do it once for the achievements and then straight back to doing something more productive in game. Going off past trends, the rewards will be mostly crap with a couple ridiculously low RNG drops from the chest that aren’t worth wasting my time for when I could do 3-5 COF runs in the same timeframe.
Reading comprehension mate!
Hunt Down Canach
Join Kiel for a mission to capture the deadly, desperate Canach! In this all-new story dungeon, you’ll enter Canach’s Lair on a subterranean solo mission under the island. If you defeat the elusive sylvari you’ll unlock a challenging all-new group adventure! Then we will have group setting. I’m filled with expectations.
I’m aware there is a solo mission to unlock. None of that changes my expectations: that it’ll have kittenty rewards and be less productive than other farmable dungeon runs. I know aggregating as much gold as possible isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but since I’m on the legendary chase it’s my current preoccupation. Stopping and smelling the roses is important, but after you’ve smelled them for 30 minutes there’s not much reason for me to sit there and keep sniffing.
A year later and the best they can do is add 1 path to an already existing dungeon.
Vanquishing would be nice to have available, as long as the crappy AI pathing and glitching doesn’t screw it up. There would have to be some sort of mechanic to make sure any jacked up enemies get popped back into the open unless they’re meant to be hidden. A “X of Y enemies killed” counter in the event status would be nice too.
Of course Anet won’t do any of this so who cares
Swear I’ve spent like 5-10 minutes just waiting for him to stop pacing back and forth.
I’d like to introduce you to Agent Spire…
I feel like after the SS update, they gave her a lobotomy or something. She was pants-on-head-kittened from the start of the game, but it’s like they started hitting her AI with a bat, just to make sure she will never graduate from kindergarten…
I just did a full CoE run last night and I swear you’re right, it feels like she’s even slower now.
Exploits are often unintentional by the devs. You chose to take advantage of it. Just think back to the snowflake exploit last Christmas. You act like any mistake in programming that the devs make is acceptable to take advantage of. It’s not. Sometime in the future, with that mindset, you will eventually be banned. I caution others to not follow his mistake.
I pretty much agree with all that, except that you’re misrepresenting my argument, which is that it’s difficult for the players to be able to tell the difference between a programming error and an intended way to bypass some other mechanic. You still haven’t answered how players are supposed to know what’s acceptable and what’s not. Here are some more examples I can think of where I see simple use of an available mechanic to do something easier, whereas your logic would call these exploits. Can you weigh in on them, and how players should be able to tell the difference between viable strategy and exploit?
-AC, any path: skirting around the outside of Kohler’s platform to avoid the boss fight.
-SE path 1: pulling the 3 golems individually into the large tunnel to avoid fighting them together. Later on, pulling Tezza into the main room so you can fight her without fighting the Champion beside her.
-SE path 3: walking up the pipe after the first barricade, bypassing the group of bombers (so totally unnecessary but a lot of PUGs do it).
-TA F/U path: using invuln skills to walk into the bubbles where the Archers are, so you don’t have to deal with the glitchy teleporter
-TA Up: utilizing the poison damage multiplier to kill Malrona in seconds. Later, pulling Fyonna into the hallway so you don’t hatch any of the eggs.
-CoF Path 1: utilizing the safe spots in the Acolyte room to drop aggro from the enemies.
I could go on but you get the idea.
it is a terribly vexing problem, to be sure
let us consult the spreadsheets, o wise one…
I agree with the OP. For players like him, there’s not enough challenging content. As a result of that, he should go find a game with more challenging content. Guild Wars 2 has no sub and if something really challenging comes out, he can come back, finish it in 5.2 minutes, and be on his merry way again.
Some people CRAVE challenge in a game. Some people have enough challenge in life and crave different things in games. Watching this game develop, I was sure it was targeted at a more casual audience, and that’s fine by me.
I do hope, OP, that you find a game that’s more challenging to you. My son, however, played Neverwinter for a couple of weeks and he’s already done with it. And he plays much like you do.
I think for me, it’s not so much the lack of new (or any?) challenges in this game, it’s that there’s no reward matching the challenges that already exist. I can’t even be bothered to do the practice and work necessary to get up to fractal 48, because the reward is so low compared to just logging in and completing whatever boring achievements are in new in the temporary content, then walking around and doing daily bosses. As far as dungeons I’m still working on getting to what I feel is a “master” level on all paths, but the only reward for reaching that level of competency and skill is a self-generated one. The PvE game simply doesn’t reward you for being good.
It really sucks trying to get multiple backpacks when you only have one char in the 40s. As far as “rings dropping like crazy” that everyone always says, even if they it did rain rings in the 40s, there are too many kitten rings to be useful. Red Ring, Crystalline Band, and I guess I’d accept the Zerk/Valk rings. That’s 4. Which means even worse RNG for getting a ring you can actually use.
If the devs have taught me anything since launch it’s “get while the gettin’s good”.
/inspect would make pugging about 1000% better
I’d pay 2000 gems for this.
If it was made available for gems, it would let you see all of their gear, but none of the stats. The only reason you should ever need to inspect someone is to make your character look like their’s.
That’s…a response I normally see from bads and casuals about the idea of /inspect. I mean, I know DnT is all about being Masters of SAB these days, but wow.
I’d rather have an option for something like 5 custom profile sets. You could equip all your zerker gear, save it to profile 1. Equip all your WvW gear, save it to profile 2. Equip whatever mix or naked and save it to profile 3 and so on. Then changing to your desired set is just the click of a button.
I’d also like to see this for traits and skills, and be able to name them. Tis but a dream…
It’d be really cool if you could press a button to link the entire set up in chat for people to mouseover and see. Could you imagine a game doing that? I wonder what that game might look like…
Doesn’t that just mean that the whole process will be delayed until the Living World rolls around to it? I don’t see how or why the Living World has to interface with the existing dungeons at all: I don’t think you’ll get many people complaining if they are updated as if by magic because they’re part of another story/content that’s outside of the “story” altogether.
Yeah I mean for me personally I give zero kittens if the changes to dungeons have in game explanations or not. Immersion is pointless in an MMO, I know I’m playing a video game. Hell, trait changes come from the sky and no one complains about that. So do updates to the gem store, and bugfixes to events and personal story.
If Colin and team are all of a sudden worried about immersion in the game, how about making it so that NPCs recognize me as Warmaster of the Vigil and Slayer of Zhaitan?
Just fix the dungeons, make the dungeons better, and make the rewards better, preferably in that order. Who cares “why” it happens?
Again, a Feedback nerf changes nothing about the state of the meta game. It’s a direct boot to the face of the dozen or so speedclear groups than can do this, that’s it. PUGs are not using it like this. Pugs can’t do this. Pugs barely even run Arah.
Nerf feedback or change Lupi’s attack and you might as well call this the [SOLO] Nerf. You’re calling for a change to a skill or boss because of one gimmick that maybe 50 people can pull off, that leads to no real in-game advancement. Arah is not CoF. There’s no reward other than bragging rights for doing this (not to diminish the achievement, I think it’s awesome).
There’s just no reason to freak out over Feedback or Lupi because of this.
A guaranteed exotic per boss would be nice, even if they remain account-bound on acquisition as they are now.
well 95% of rangers are horrible, horrible players so they give it bad name
All these qq posts about how it’s impossible are gonna look pretty hilarious in a week when it gets cleared every reset.
This boss design suffers from a the same crappy design many others in the game have.
“Hey, wouldn’t it be cool if to kill this boss you had to do [this]?”
“Yeah, that’d be neat. How many times should they have to do it?”
“FIVE HUNDRED TIMES!
”
Seriously? That doesn’t even make sense lol, haven’t even played my warrior enough to realize
an evade fumbling an evade, anet pls.
careful with “anet pls” type posts, you might run afoul of the new policy
Agreeing with what u guys said.
But arena said no Holy Trinity and everybody can enjoy.
And if we avoid dungeons for slower players, arena net shout not put in update with more dungeons, which, many would avoid, which means, the updates are kinda uselessExample the dungeons in LA with aetherblades, slower players can’t get up the boxes on time while running and avoid the lasers ….
Any strategy other than running up the boxes? The strategy is to go do easier content.
Then it just means that slower players cant enjoy the story or content fully ….
Content is not designed so that every single player can enjoy it! I don’t like PvP, so I don’t play it! I don’t like WvW, so I don’t play it! I don’t like open world PvE, so I don’t play it! I don’t like content that’s too easy, so I don’t play it!
Why can’t you people just NOT PLAY IT if it’s too hard?
I really can’t give specific timeframes for bug fixes/etc. because if something comes up that delays it, it makes us look deceptive. : (
A fix is currently in testing, once it’s confirmed and cleared it will go into the next available update.
I disagree completely. If something specific delays it, you could just say “well this was scheduled to go into the next patch but it got bumped due to such and such.” and I’m certain there’d be no torches and pitchforks. It’s the not telling us anything that’s way way worse. Transparency goes a long way towards building goodwill.
The last sentence in your post is good enough for me, FYI, and I really do appreciate you guys actually fixing something that needed to be fixed in fractals.
Also, tool kit doesn’t hit as hard as grenades, but of course you wouldn’t know that, since you don’t play engineer.
How does it make you feel that I could faceroll dungeons on your main, but you couldn’t kill skelks on mine?
Lol.
There are 8 character names in my sig for a reason.
I think you should try comparing ranged weapons as you can’t compare ranged dps to melee dps.
“I will say that when this does hit it is the highest DPS #1 skill in the game.” That’s a pretty unambiguous statement. But I went ahead and looked at some other ranged weapons anyway. Ranger SB 1 can get off 20 shots in 10 seconds for 43 damage, which is 86 DPS. Ranger LB 1 can get off 9 shots in 10s for 98 each, so 88 DPS. 88 is higher than 85 (guardian’s scepter1), so uhhh, QED?
Edited to add: perhaps there’s a skill coefficient to modify the base crit chance, but with this same steady weapon tests in the mists I’m still seeing the same 4% base that my character currently has (for scepter 1).

ugh don’t necro dev response threads, it makes me think one has actually posted in the dungeon forum in the last 6 months.
The deal with CoF farming community is that there are people who are content just getting it done, people who like to get it done quickly, and then people who want to get it done quick as humanly possible. And every group hates the other two.
Sorry I must really be explaining this horribly and sorry about that. I understand that the field on bottom is the one that takes priority, but when a fire bomb is place it doesn’t immediately become a fire field, it has a delay before it explodes, and that is when I keep getting dark fields put over the top of it, once it has been set but has not yet exploded. LOL perhaps I’m just whining too much.
Nah it’s a legit complaint, but to be expected when pugging with necros. If they don’t have the presence of mind to bring a better class to a dungeon they probably don’t have the faintest understanding of utilizing blasts to stack might. They probably also think spamming area blinds is pretty awesome despite fighting Dredge.
Subject 7 goes down, but the other tier 3 folks still drop the same old bags.
Do you folks realize that if they’d throw us a single new permanent dungeon on par with the other 8 in the first 12 months of the game how happy the more “hardcore” crowd would be? But no, we get Molten Facility, an interesting albeit cakewalk dungeon that only has one path and was temporary. We get Canach’s Lair, which can only be called a dungeon if you’re having a laugh. And even then…temporary.
I’d be ecstatic with a new dungeon that I can throw in the rotation with all the others. Or even just new fractals, which you think would be a no brainer every couple months, considering how small and simple they should be. Or hell, even just fixing the dungeons and fractals that are already in the kitten game.
But we don’t get that. We get Quaggan backpacks. And dragon fireworks. And How To Dance, Volume 1.
question: across all NA servers, has there ever been 3 power necros and 2 power rangers online at the same time? same question for EU
lol
Add more dungeons.
One sec, let me contact the ArenaNet dungeon team.
It’s only possible if you enter straight after cut scene and dps the hell out of that tree,
So in short, it’s only possible if you do what you’re supposed to do.
A guildmate once was saying that Lupicus should take 10-15 minutes with a good team and when I pointed out the (at the time) minute-plus record kill from DnT, the response was:
“Well yeah, if all you do is damage.”
I wish I kept a catalogue of all the idiotic thing GW2 players have said.
It’s probably easier and less controversial to group them in terms of team contribution since personal dps is only a component of that, in addition to team damage boons and enemy vulnerability. A tier system is much easier:
Guardian/Warrior/Ranger/Thief
Elementalist/Engineer/Mesmer
Necro
Canach’s Lair is a 5-minute mission that will be gone from the game next month. Guardian’s crappy scepter attacks will be here forever. Fix the game before you add shiny things.
As far as “there are more than 1 dev team”, devs will work where they’re told to work. If your priority is crappy lowbie temp content and gem store cash grabs (copy/paste job on the consortium sickle, looking at you here) you’ll assign devs to that and not bug fixes. More devs on the bugfix team = more bugs fixed.
I guess you mean P1? Yea, there should be a closer WP, idk why there isn’t.
Because Anet programmers. Isn’t it something like the waypoint that should be in P1 is actually in P2 or P3?
dont let dredge suit come near = no agony
he only does his agony attack if he comes rly near
stay far away and gg
but what if I want to melee him?
-decent
-fairly effective
-pretty good damage
sounds like a eugene build
Yeah I would have just kicked the guardian and replaced him. You had a mesmer, which will provide all the reflects you need for path 3.
lol look at this elitist assuming pug mesmers use reflects
All the little tricks speedclears use are such incremental steps on the spectrum between “clever tactic” and “bannable exploit” that there’s really no way to make a hard and fast rule on it. Really just need a dang tribunal to vote on this crap.
how can you expect them to fix something like this so soon after updating the jellyfish pet
If they would implement this system for the Fractal Skin drops, I am sure most of you would be excited!
No, they’re both terrible systems, just on opposite ends of the spectrum. But at least the fractal weapon is just a skin that can be transmuted and thus made useful. There are 19 possible weapons and at least 12 or so of them are used regularly if you have all available classes. But of the 13 available ascended weapon stat combinations, only one is useful.
(edited by Broadicea.8294)
I’d like to do bad things IRL to the person who popularized the craptastic engi flamethrower build
Anet’s quality control strikes again.
Awesome I’d much rather have this than a new permanent dungeon or fixed traits and tooltips or PvE class balance or better pet AI or or or.
On the plus side an update this large will probably break quite a few more things with salvaging or profession skills, etc. It’s like an easter egg hunt every patch!
Because my gear is none of your frigging business.
So much this. I play my way, how you think I should is completely irrelevant. You didn’t pay for my copy of the game or my connection.
The difference between you folks in the Against /Inspect crowd and those of us in the For crowd: I want you to be able to play your way! In your own groups! It’s unfortunate that you don’t extend the same courtesy to us.
I don’t get many readings in the dungeon forum besides hostility ;p
we hate because we’re neglected. lashing out is our cry for attention.
Does anyone know why operative belka sometimes fails to activate?
She’s old and can’t hear or see you very well, get a little closer.
I know a lot of people use exploits in dungeons to make them ‘easier’ and quicker, but this is almost never true. Most of the time, the party wipes more frequently because if any one screws it up it fails.
Actually most of the time the skip goes fine and it cuts down on lots of wasted time and effort clearing garbage mobs that don’t reward anything worthwhile. There, I resoundingly defeated your argument.
Why does it seem that people are more tolerant of non-max efficient team compositions in fractals than ‘regular’ dungeons? Or is there just simply something special about fractals that allows for a broader range of classes/builds to excel?
I don’t think people that would discriminate on dungeon runs are more tolerant. It’s the same group of people making or joining “all class” runs for both. I think those of us that discriminate are probably even less tolerant when it comes to fractals since you know you have to be stuck with that crap-tastic group for an hour or more.
