It’s easier to do them solo.
You’re on during off hours.
There’s always people posting on GW2LFG.
Nice complaint?
Which is a lot more effort than just sticking a ton of Quartz on an alt and having him login to get a Charged Quarts then swapping to do your dailies.
But don’t worry, you’ll feel like a hero when the Lich King dies and then you do him again next week! I mean, that’s why we’re playing GW2, right?
As long as your Sigil of Fire is not on cooldown, the Sigil of Battle will activate upon switching to the Mace.
The Sigil of Bloodlust has no cooldown and is unaffected by the other sigils’ cooldowns.
Any store which has tiers of buying where you get “rewarded” for purchasing amounts equal to the higher tiers is just a layer to get consumers to spend more money.
Check out this link for other methods of scamming a consumer although, to be fair, they do successfully lure you in with seemingly reasonable methods.
I think it’s more along the lines of every field has gone through numerous changes to nerf their viability. Auras don’t stack duration and have very static effects. Healing, Stealth, Might, and to some degree Swiftness, are all stacking effects from fields that also have little to no downsides (Swiftness stacking is usually done near instantaneously, otherwise it’s better to just run and scream at each other #retreat).
Think about it this way: Since most fields provide auras with leaps (and some with blasts too, because that’s cool… not), what would the game be like with all Auras?
Let’s take a look at all the auras and see how strong they are:
Fire Shield: Burns foes (1s) and grants might (10s) when you are struck (1s ICD per person).
Frost Aura: Chill foes (1s) that strike you (1s ICD per person). Incoming Damage reduced by 10% – Stacks duration (only when blasted).
Magnetic Aura: Reflect projectiles.
Shocking Aura: Stun foes (1s) when struck (2s IC per person).
Light Aura: When struck gain 2s retal (1s ICD), apply 8 vuln.
Chaos Armor: When struck give yourself one of prot (5s), regen (3s), swiftness (3s) and apply one of three blind (3s), confusion (3s), crippled (3s).
Of these, I would rank them as:
Magnetic > Shocking > Frost > Light > Fire = Chaos
Of course, Magnetic and Shocking are both only obtained through the use of skills and not fields. Additionally all the auras last only 5s (bar Magnetic and Shocking with durations based on skill) and are not stacked with the exception of Frost aura.
If we were to instead flip the tables and not buff fields but nerf fields that are too strong, would it instead be fair if Fire and Lightning field provided their aura in AoE upon blast? Would it be fair for them to introduce new Auras that diminish the effects of blast stacking to nerf Water and Smoke Fields?
The second question did happen in regards to Light Aura in case you forgot.
Personally, I don’t think the Aura approach to fields (both in blasting and leaping) is very fun play, but at the same time, I believe that all fields should be on a level playing field (not necessary equal in effects but at least a level playing field).
One final thing to note: Blasting a water field has a 0.5 Healing Power Ratio, one of the higher ratios in the game relating to healing. If water fields were to get streamlined with the rest of the game, you’d apply either Regeneration or a Regen-like Aura.
You can stick your head in the sand and pretend that all the fields are viable, but when fields are only overlapped when you absolutely need the effect (e.g. reflect), then maybe they need to be reconsidered.
Hard mode maps with respawning hearts upon completion of the vanquish. (If vanquish is not completed, the hearts will either stay complete or give reduced reward until complete vanquish occurs).
Explain to me why you need an aggro system when you don’t have a tanking system.

Stay tuned for the next content patch, woooo..
Ok, don’t think I’m being clear enough lol.
BEFORE you accept the PA where does it say it’s soulbound?
Afaik, you only know it’s soulbound AFTER you’ve accepted it, or if you look it up online.
On the item itself. If you cared to select it and read the description before choosing.
I would really love to see what they think about tons of feedback they received about last weekend.
If memory serves me well chronomancer was changed a lot after this weekend pre HoT?
“This weekend” is not a very good comparison. The first Beta Weekend (with Elite specs) only had Chrono, DH, Reaper, and Tempest. It was also over 2 months before the expansion would be released.
“This weekend” is 1 month before release and has all of the elite specs, which means there’s a lot of work to be done on all of them.
The problem is also the next few weeks are going to be providing lots of bugs.
Next weekend is mount week, we’ll be seeing Hopper, Skimmer, and Jackals in addition to the Raptor (here’s hoping still-turning gets improved slightly).
The weekend after that is more of the map and some story instances (lolwat?)
So I doubt we’ll be seeing major changes before the release, but keep in mind that the bulk of the HoT elite changes were done post release, while there were some minor adjustments made before they released (they tended not to address huge issues and just kind of played around with things).
I solo, but the point system (and the more I understand about it) truly frustrates me.
The zergmentality is one thing I truly hate, not because it’s easy, but because it promotes cluelessness. I hate that person that gets to level 80 through PvE and doesn’t understand what stat does what. I hate that person that gets full BiS (ascended + exotics) and doesn’t understand how to create a build catering to their playstyle. I hate the person who goes for a Legendary and believes they deserve one because they’re them, not because they worked for it.
I’m overgeneralizing but most zerg players are like that. I’ve gone into zergs recently and kept asking myself: What am I learning from this?
I could never answer myself, so I went back to solo roaming.
As for the point system, you get more points the more people “tag” an objective. An objective will give more points (directly to the world) the more people hit it, whereas doing something by yourself allows other players to split up and cause more confusion, but also proves that you have the capacity of doing large-scale objectives by yourself… and you get PUNISHED for it.
So can Blink, Lightning Flash, and Necrotic Traversal. Of course, they all have significantly higher cooldowns/cost, making them not as easy to use as IA.
Not entirely, there are things i can Infiltrator Arrow to just fine but not Blink. The mechanics are not identical it seems.
If that’s happening, it’s simply because the projectile for IA is landing on a spot that would be otherwise unclickable (or slightly different than where your mouse was) via Blink/Lightning Flash. Necrotic Traversal will most likely end up at the same spot or near it.
Actually, NT is probably the most fair of all the blink skills. Unless it’s in a blatantly unusable spot (say: above you or on non-blinkable ground away from you), you’ll teleport the 1200 in that direction.
A-are we playing the same game?
You know this superstar by now. Let’s hear it!
Our challenger better wrap things up quick.
A guildie told me everyone is getting 100000g for free, along with every legendary…
Where’s my 100000g and legendaries?
sPvP, do Hotjoin at the beginning and grit your teeth. It’s very unforgiving to new players. There’s a guild made for teaching new players, I think it’s Academy of the Mists.
Fractals, you’re not going to get too much gear here, I’d suggest focusing on getting into exotics and learning your class (even better) while slowly working up. Do daily Fractals (even number runs). Preferably run 2,4,6,8 once a day. If you want to keep doing Fractals that day, run even numbers 3,5,7,9. Make sure you’re running either your level or higher runs. Also make sure that your group knows you’re inexperienced so they can explain the fights.
WvW, you can just hop in and follow them. If you want to learn more, there are WvW guilds out there, I’m not sure about your world specifically.
Dungeons is where you’re going to want to spend most of your time. These provide you money, loot (which you can sell for money) and dungeon tokens which you can use to buy yourself Exotic armors and weapons (BiS for now and Orange rarity).
See: this link here to figure out what dungeons you want to do
My tip for you is to start with tanky gear and slowly progress down to squishier and squishier gear. If you read a guide that has all zerker gear, don’t immediately rush into all zerk gear, for the love of all that is holy.
I think the hat should give everyone a beard, even women.
1. That’s your matchups fault, not the games fault.
2. Again, that’s the matchups fault. Play with it. Most of the time, they’ll roam as a gigantic pack. Setup a few small roam groups to flip camps and towers. Split your forces so they end up weaker.
3. Then you’re not playing WvW, you’re playing Rabbits vs Hunters.
4. It’s based on real players entering the battlefield. If your world doesn’t want to participate, why should it force the other worlds to stop participating?
5. Arrow carts used to have bonus range through the WvW trait. It was ridiculously op, so it got removed.
6. If you were damaged before Outnumbered occurs, you still have to repair. All Outnumbered does is prevent you from incurring damaged/broken armor, therefore nullifying future repair costs while the buff is active.
I don’t see your point. You want it to be Carebear vs Carebear, where the team with the most hugs gets the most points?
Anise says that it was her doing.
Additionally, Logan couldn’t bring himself to face Rytlock at full capacity. It still fits in any point of the story as he’s either too ashamed to face Rytlock, or he’s too afraid of actually hurting Rytlock.
The Thaumanova Reactor explosion (and the fallout caused by it) does not affect only the Asura.
Steam creatures? Tied to the Thaumanova Reactor.
Mass portaling of random creatures to other places of the world (or even through worlds)? Tied to the Thaumanova Reactor.
Main Hand Pistol or Whip instead, please.
It’s not actually stats, it’s just visuals. You can see all the visuals in the gem store (Krytan, Primeval, and Profane) but remember that it’s one armorset per armor type, so you can’t pick Krytan for your Elementalist.
If you’re unsure, save it. You can always open the box later. You don’t get any stats from it, so don’t feel pressured.
Dude your fooling your self if you think its not OP I’m sorry its fun and all but its incredibly Broke.
Umm ok, let’s see what your reasoning is. It sounds like you’ve actually played one because it’s fun and all, so what makes you think it’s OP/broken?
I sat in a fight and was slowed 100% of the time while they have quickness and pop clones out faster then a mother on welfare.
You… sat in a fight… against a Mesmer… and were slowed while they got quickness… :/
So you didn’t actually play Mesmer and you just sat in a (double?) Time Warp while they did Mesmer things to you. Ok. Ok, maybe there’s some actual evidence.
I can not dump the slow so that in its self is broke. so I stand there with my thumb up my kitten and cant do anything.
YES. YOU SAT IN A TIME WARP. TIME WARP.
TIME WARP:
11 PULSES OF 1S QUICKNESS AND SLOW.
CHRONOMANCER: CAN DROP 2 ELITES.
2 TIME WARP:
11 PULSES OF 2S QUICKNESS AND SLOW.
YOU WERE SLOWED.
HE WAS QUICK.
YOU SAT IN A FIGHT.
HE SPAWNED ILLUSIONS.
I don’t get it…?
Its funny that you say that about the Mesmer that its cause no one knows how to fight them yet but I don’t have that problem with the other elite spec’s.
Have you considered pressing one of these keys, they might help you win the fight: WASD. Pick one, any one. And press it. If you want to get fancy, you can toss in a V. Woah. Woah, I’m sorry. It’s pretty far from that 1 key, you might have trouble. I suggest using your index finger to press it.
As for your other point… Ele has a support-oriented elite spec. Necro has a slow elite spec. Guard has a support-ish elite spec (deals damage while supporting).
So of the released elite specs, Necro and Mesmer have damaging elite specs and you’re taking lots of… damage… from them. You not being able to fight a Mesmer does not inherently make them OP. I know if I hop into PvP, I’ll get wrecked by any profession (I can’t really hold my own but I can bring people down with me). Does that make them OP? No. It just means I suck and need to play PvP more or gtfo (which I do, I gtfo of PvP)
.
this was also not just a few hours of Spvp this was from last night until now. So go ahead and think and justify it in your head but reality is that its broke and needs some toning down.
So you’ve spent from last night until you made that post which is 13 hours without sleeping constantly fighting Mesmers and not learning how to move out of Time Warp.
The only thing you even brought up being OP in that entire rant of yours was Time Warp, which Mesmers have without the elite spec. TW is strong, but it is not OP (unless you’re mixing it with teamplay forcing an entire enemy team to be slowed, immobilized, and punished). You also sat inside of it the entire time. How does that make Chronomancers OP?
I just don’t think a 1 sec dodge animation really lowers your DPS that much. Therefor being able to continue attacking during that 1 sec isn’t going to make a huge difference.
Really, the best use of this ability is when channeling a long cast like Confusing Images. That way you don’t interrupt yourself. However, CI is the only channel cast mesmer has besides Blurred Frenzy, and Blurred Frenzy is already an evade… Good job.
And guess what, now you aren’t ambushing!
You can get 500 points in an hour (or a small, casual session) if you’re BAD at survival.
I’ve been wandering around in starter zones, only finding that the mobs don’t do what the game says they do. A drake in Ashford Plains don’t do knockback, Forest Spiders in Queensdale don’t poison, and Sons of Svanir in Wayfarer Foothills don’t freeze and bleed, but they do knockback and cripple. I’ve come across a Son of Svanir, the abilities it said was knockback and bleed, but he only did knockback.
Fish in Metricas first lake (barracudas iirc) said they"bleed/ sumoned allies"
they never did
before the update
think they are gone now
probably due to misbehavior ;P
It was like that before the update.
Actually, the majority of barracudas stopped spawning more barracudas because it became an endless loot farm (since the spawned barracudas also had the spawn barracuda skill and also dropped loot).
:/
Still happens with some wolves.
Tempest was supposed to be a support spec but it failed pretty horribly, so they upped the damage and it became a straight upgrade to damage while also giving more supportive options. :/
Definitely agree with the above notes, as with #5 you can’t hit F5, no clones, and activate a 1s cast skill at the same time, as CS ends before it actually activates.
I’m not part of the beta weekend, but you get 1.5s of CS if you use it with no Illusions. Also, it has no cast time (I assume, since people are using it mid-Frost Arrows) and can be used similarly to a Mantra Charge, thereby allowing you to use it on 1s and even longer spells (just make sure to use it once you’ve started, and not before).
Portal does not “really” work with CS since the cooldown of the portal starts on using portal entree and runs in the background. You can only revert back to that cooldown if you place the portal excount while under the effect of CS
Portal has 2 cooldowns. There’s the innate 72s cooldown that ticks in the background. This one only comes into effect if the Entre expires, putting your portal on a 12s cooldown. If you do cast Exeunte, then the 72s cooldown refreshes itself at 72s and starts ticking again.
That’s why if you use Mimic, you want to use it on the Exeunte, not the Entre (since you do refresh a cooldown, but it’s a dummy cooldown that you won’t benefit from).
I’m glad someone read through my wall.
On the bright side, getting Daily Dodger has never been easier!
Honestly, I don’t think it’s bad that they’re throwing this many tokens at us. It’s simply bad because we’re getting them all immediately.
Remember, these rewards are taken out of context for us players that have thousands of AP.
Try to look at these rewards for players just starting the game. It’ll take them a while to hit 100 and by then they might be still figuring out they’re “mains” profession. Hence: starter chest with gathering tools and a bag (also more boosters then other chests).
Now, they’ve been playing for a while, probably about 50-100 hours at this point. They finally made it to 500 achievement points. Oh, what’s this? We just got this new thing called Badges of Honor and Blueprints? Maybe I should figure out what to do with them.
Introduction to WvW complete (not really because most players won’t actually do that, but… whatever).
Now, you’ve been playing for nearly 100-150 hours. Note: By now, if you’ve been sticking to one character, you should be nearing 80 if not 80 already. You’re at 1,000 Achievement Points. My favorite weapon is X, so I get Zenith X skin. Oh, I also get some more of that WvW stuff, and what’s this? A PvP Chest? Let’s figure out how to use that!
Insert introduction to sPvP.
From there, it becomes a routine reward, but it’s not something players get everyday.
Remember, if you count living story, you get ~900 AP every month (assuming you do EVERYTHING). This means that you get 1 chest every other week, give or take a few days. So getting 100/200 Badges of Honor (average 150 per chest, not including the super crazy chests that will probably give 300+) every 2 weeks of hardcore grind wars 2 (getting every achievement, INCLUDING WVW DAILY ACHIEVEMENTS) is quite reasonable.
Also keep in mind that the final chest, for now, is at 10,000 AP.
So, all in all, the Badges of Honor are ridiculous when being gained on a daily basis due to the retroactive part of this system, but when taken in the correct context of the system, it’s reasonable.
tl;r: Chests give an average of 10.7 Badges of Honor per day if you do every daily/monthly.
Keep in mind, once you have chosen your own “personal” skills in the utility tree, grab a few “party” skills. These will come in very handy when you start doing dungeons as nobody wants a Warrior who runs 5 Signets or a -Insert Class Here- that never drops a combo field/utilizes combos.
Sorry for hating on Warriors, it’s just that’s the class that I tend to see that has no party play skills and wants to jump in to do any and every dungeon.
Technically that’s void jumping which doesn’t require shadowstepping. In fact, Leaps are better for that.
I’d really like first person view until I start thinking about swirling attacks and weird head movements with skills like ranger axe 5… shudders
Didn’t you get the memo? Moa no longer prevents stomps or resses. And I do love a 6/6/6/6/6 build, haven’t seen that for a while really.
Oldtimers know that it’s the good ol’ 30/30/30/30/30 build
Technically it’s a 123,123,123/123,123,123/123,123,123/123,123,123/123,123,123/123,123,123 build now.
And then when he swapped to PvE, his build changed and he was hacked again!
Its realty good for wvw players who need space and its a good cost saver in the long run.
Yes, yes it is… but if you want to save money in the long-run, you should buy Crude Salvage Kits as they are 2.1333_c per use, which will save you a lot more than what this one will save you.
Additionally, at the rate of 500 salvages per week, it will take you 21 years of salvaging to break even (with the Copper Salvage Kit).
Crude Salvage Kits have, and will, always be[en] the best at cost-effectiveness. It’s just a matter of sacrificing all that extra inventory space.
Remember, let him experiment. Stay close (either in person or be ready ingame) and only help when necessary.
If he asks a question, answer it, but don’t try to explain the game to him (unless he asks).
So I was told by a friend that if you have had gotten repeated dyes in the past, Anet will send unidentified dyes based on the repeated dyes that you opened.
However, I logged in today, and I didn’t get anything.
Can someone shed lights on this subject?
Back to the OP:
The dyes are only given if you’ve UNLOCKED the same dye more than once. Example: I unlocked Heirloom on my Mesmer, my Thief, my other Thief, and my Guardian.
When I log onto my Mesmer, the game stores my dyes and shows them to me. I do not get any unidentified dyes.
When I log onto my Thief, the game sees that I have a duplicated dye unlocked. I get one unidentified dye.
When I log onto my other Thief, the game sees that I have a duplicated dye unlocked. I get one unidentified dye.
When I log onto my Guardian, the game sees that I have a duplicated dye unlocked. I get one unidentified dye.
Now let’s go more in-depth:
On my Mesmer, I have:
Oxblood, Heirloom, Celestial.
On my Thief, I have:
Oxblood, Mithril, Peach.
On my Ranger, I have:
Mithril, Winter Ice, Sage.
On my Guardian, I have:
Winter Ice, Celestial, Peach.
When I log in, for the first time (after the April 2014 Feature Pack Patch), the game stores my dyes. I do not remember if it takes ALL dyes, or just the dyes from my first character. Let’s pretend it’s just the first character. I go onto my Mesmer.
The game unlocks: Oxblood, Celestial, Heirloom.
I log onto my Guardian.
The game unlocks: Winter Ice, Peach.
I get 1 unidye.
I log onto my Thief.
The game unlocks: Mithril.
I get 2 unidye.
I log onto my Ranger.
I unlock sage.
I get 2 unidye.
Does that make sense? (The unlocking part might be all done on my Mesmer, but it makes sense to understand it this way.)
I agree. Other than the balance, there’s no reason for them to have held out on all the “hype-maker”. They should have just released it as another tuesday patch and seen the glorified confusion of all the people looking in wonder at the freshness of the game instead of releasing it bit by bit and having people smudge the shine off of it.
There are advantages to them giving us time for feedback, such as the Commander tags getting “fixed” and Mesmers sighs. But even those can be hotfixed, which would further reinforce that Anet reads the forums and addresses issues that are, well, issues.
Guys guys, guys, if you really don’t want to tip Arenanet, convert gold —> gems and stop whining.
If you enjoy the game, tip them. If you don’t enjoy it, don’t play it.
If you don’t enjoy the tip, don’t pay them at all and use gold…
Mystic Toilet. End-game Chests. Trading Post.
RNG. RNG. Ridiculously overpriced, manipulated and probably controlled by the 1% or gold sellers.
3 methods. 3 choices.
All of them are horribad and non-deterministic.
Stop. Complaining.
Listen here son, I finished my Sunrise 3 weeks ago and the ONLY part I truly hated about it was obtaining Dawn because it did not directly depend on me. Gimme one kitten reason why I shouldn’t be able to work towards the precursor the same kittening way I worked towards everything else.
You don’t need a Legendary. If you do need a Legendary, you’d best stop whining and get/farm it for whatever purpose you need it for.
What part of ‘deterministic’ don’t you understand? Every other part of every single kitten legendary is deterministic. You WILL get your crafting gifts, gift of Jumping, million karma, etc., eventually. With the precursor, you can throw thousands of rares into the Mystic toilet and get nothing; you can farm AC/CoF1 all day long only to see the prices rise; you can participate in every dragon kill for months and receive your usual blues and greens.
I’m not saying every twerp and nobody should receive a precursor for stomping a sparkfly, I WANT a hard-as-nails way to obtain it; and it was previously suggested that DM should qualify for 25% of this method.
So because it’s hard to get you don’t like it, yet you want it to be hard to get, but you don’t like it because it’s hard to get, but you still want it to be difficult, but it’s too hard to get, but you want it to be hard to get.
Cool story.
I remember waiting “patiently” for my 22 days to get my set of Celestial Exotic armor… (22 because I have the node, so I can strike it for a chance at a Charged Quartz).
Currently, I have 1000 Quartz, 60 Charged Quartz and nothing to do with either, because I have my Exotic Celestial set. If I want Ascended Celestial, I have 3 Ascended Armor Boxes that can give me Celestial (out of 4 Boxes [Raider’s doesn’t give Celestial]).
For Weapons, I think it’s nice that there are Exotics that give Celestial, and they have reasonable prices.
For Armor, I think it’s a fair system, albeit slightly too gated. There’s no reason for it to not be faster, but at the same time, making it 1/char/day is unfair to those who have fewer characters or don’t buy character slots.
I understand your frustration, and almost all players attempting to make Celestial went through the same “why?” moment back when it was released. It’s a luxury item, so the fact that it’s not easy to make is fair.
Additionally, it only requires 30 days to make a Celestial Armorset, and the weapons are almost all available on the TP.
The main reason for using mantras is Empowering Mantras.
The other reason for using mantras is Mender’s Purity.
The final reason for using mantras is Restorative Mantras.
And, in order:
EM:+4% Damage for each mantra charged.
MP: Remove 2 Conditions when you heal, no ICD.
RM: Heal for ~2600 AoE when you charge a mantra.
Look, Adry, if the game bores you and you can’t deal with the endgame here, there are plenty of other games where they have the endgame that you want. Just please stop trying to force this game into those other games when they already exist. We don’t need MMO’s to all be carbon copies of each other.
Endgame doesn’t mean, or have to mean, the exact same endgame as found in other games. There is plenty of room for progression mechanics in GW2 that do not have to revolve around what has come before.
GW2 is an MMO…does that mean it’s the exact same as every other MMO?
With what you’ve said in mind. I highly urge you to read through the OP’s OP and then come back.
Yes, offhand weapons will still provide their legendary effects.
HOWEVER if you’re also wielding a mainhand legendary, the mainhand’s effects will take priority (footsteps/char model changes) and the offhands will be “muted”.
FOR THE PANINI!
Could you perhaps time it with something other than your head? Such as using buffs to assist (Harmonious Mantras duration) or taking a video and using timestamps?
