I really never understood the whole point of making it an event. Just leave it open and make the skins soul-bound again.
And it’s free.
Plus, nobody is tying you to a chair and forcing you to play it.
Note: The you in this post in not you, Chessrook.
While killing 10k players you’re getting massive loot rewards, potential dailies/monthlies and a lot more.
Sure, there are daily jumping puzzles, but you’re not going to get that more than once for each unique jumping puzzle finish (if you even get it when you complete a unique jumping puzzle).
Die die die. Die die die, die die.

I personally believe that theyare not meant to be obtained.
You can disagree with me, and I am okay with that, but I hope someone will hear me out.

—Introduction—
Before I start, I’m going to treat these all as full-time jobs, meaning you’ll be working for each achievement 8 hours a day, doing the same monotonous task all 8 hours at a reasonable pace. From here, let’s take a closer look at some of the achievements…
Well hey, they tried. Beating Liadri is simply a matter of getting used to a pattern in Phase 1, then focusing on surviving while slowly ranged dpsing in Phase 2.
For the players who want a challenge, however, they have the 8orb achievement which requires a lot of patience and skill.
If you want her to be easier, then you need to improve (if you’re going to try to beat her, that is).
—Yakslapping—
Starting with Yakslapper, let’s see how long it will take you to finish it.
Assuming you’re in a side borderlands where you don’t own 2-3 camps and towers/keeps, it’s possible to kill up to 6 Dolyaks every 5 minutes, but I’m going to go with a reasonable route of 3 per 5 minutes (this is easily done by going to the top left of the borderlands, and just killing the 2 Dolyaks out of the western camp, and the 1 Dolyak out of the northern camp).
You have 1,000,000 Dolyaks to kill, and every 5 minutes (how long they respawn, I won’t count the time it takes them, or you, to move, so they die as soon as they spawn) you kill 3.
3kills / 5minutes = 0.6 kills/minute
(0.6kills/min) * 60minutes = 36 kills/hour
36 kills/hour * 8hours (one day) = 288 kills/day
(1,000,000 kills) / (288 kills/day) = 3472.222… days required.
Now, I know some of you are going to be saying, “WELL I CAN KILL 6 DOLYAKS EVERY RESPAWN” (because it is possible by going through the bottom of a borderland and hitting all 6 at every interval, it’s just very risky and highly unlikely), so, you simply double the speed at which you kill, making it…
(1,000,000 kills) / (2 * 288 kills/day) = 1736.111… days required.
Either way, 3472.222 days is the equivalent of a little over 9.5 years.
1736.111 days is a little over 4.75 years.
This means that to get either of this specific achievement, you must be working non-stop (as if it were a real job, 8 hours a day) for 5-10 years. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE DAYS OFF, MEANING YOU WORK 365.25 DAYS A YEAR.
—Escorting—
Now, let’s go to the Dolyak Escort. This achievement is awkward, but I took the path from -InsertColor-water Camp to -InsertColor-lake Tower using Runes of the Centaur to speed up the Dolyak. The route took approximately 2minutes and 30seconds to complete, not including the time it takes for the Dolyak to run back. Assuming it never gets attacked, we’ll say it takes 3minutes (just being a little overgenerous).
You have to escort the Dolyak 500,000 times. If the shortest path takes 3minutes each time, then the math is simpler than before.
(500,000 escorts) / (3 minutes/escort) = 166666.666… minutes
(166666.666… minutes) / (60 minutes/hour) = 2777.777… hours
(2777.777 hours) / (8 hours/day) = 347.222222 days.
Escorting a Dolyak will take you just under a year working at the standard workday everyday.
—Capturing—
Captures take about 10 minute for a full round of camps in the borderlands (just flipping). That’s 6 camps every 10 minutes, and you need 100,000 camps.
(100,000 camps) / (0.6 camps/minute) = 166666.666… minutes.
Hey, that sounds familiar… so that means that this one will also take just under a year.
—Defending—
Defending takes 3 minutes. Assuming someone is constantly sieging a wall and you’re constantly repairing it (pretty mindless and gets you the defense without risking yourself too much), this means that you have to stay put for a while. Let’s just say that it’s 100,000 defends for any given achievement.
(100,000 defends) * (3 minutes / defend) = 300,000 minutes
(300,000 minutes) / (60 minutes / hour) = 5000 hours
(5000 hours) / (8 hours / day) = 625 days
(625 days) / (365.25 days / year) = a little over 1.71 years
Nearly 2 years of running back and forth repairing a wall.
—Conclusion—
All of these sound very enjoyable. I really don’t see what the point of having unattainable achievements with titles attached to them. I can possibly see a few people who have stuck fast to their goals for YEARS on end without fail getting one… or maybe two (if they repair a wall while getting attacked) achievements in the course of GW2’s lifetime. I really hope I’m not the only person that has noticed this.
—Afterword—
These achievements are all harder than reaching level 80 in the tutorial.
For this one, I took a human Necromancer, decked him out with a level 1 Dagger and Warhorn, and started killing mobs. Each mob gives 3 exp. From there, you take the amount of exp it takes to get to 80 (4,860,359) and start working the math.
I ran around for 1 full minute and managed to kill 8 mobs. Using that for my math…
(4860359 exp) / (3 exp/mob) / (8 mobs/minute) / (60 minutes/hour) / (8 hours/day) / (365.25 days/year) = ~1.15 years
Yes, this is longer than certain achievements using the math I used above, HOWEVER this is also a safe route which has no influence on other players. You don’t need to rely on other players to be attacking a place, nor do you need to rely on players NOT attacking a certain place (or thing). I find it ridiculously sad that it’s easier to hit LDoA in GW2 than it is to get the open world PvP achievements.

New people, or returning people watch his video’s because he explains a lot about the class/spec, even if not 100% correct all the time, it gives those viewers a general idea of what is going on.
If you want theorycrafting/pro’s talk about elite specs, then go elsewhere. Just leave WP alone
If he was any random person, nobody would really make a fuss. You can see that in all of the videos about Mirage. It’s because he has a following that he should make informed comments instead of stating falsehoods that will get his community to believe him (because the new/returning people haven’t been able to see how things work themselves).
When someone becomes popular, they accept upon themselves a responsibility with their actions. I, personally, don’t care about WP one way or another, but if he makes a misinformed statement, people will believe him. That is a problem, and becomes a much larger issue when you suddenly have people saying that Mirage isn’t bad because WP said so.
Sure, he went out of his way to make a video about the elite specs. That’s great, and I applaud him for that. He definitely didn’t need to and spent effort and time he could have otherwise used to do whatever he does. However, his actual points barely gloss the surface and tend to have no depth. He talks about how good Mirage is while rarely going into why it is good or how. The few times he does delve deep, he’s off the mark.
In his second video, he spent more time defending himself than trying to reason why and how Mirage can be used. Then, when he actually started talking about how they can be used, he references food and traited Guardian F2 to utilize the class mechanic. That, in itself is a problem because we shouldn’t be reliant on food or other classes to play our own spec. The other time he talks about something (without going complete conjecture mode), he ends up being way off the mark and talking about a triviality which he places a significant importance.
I don’t know why people complain about Asura Mesmer when you can literally make a Male Norn Mesmer, pick the beefiest body type and set the head size and height to maximum, don’t need to change any other setting, go into PvP as any Clone spam build and instantly confuse the opponents.
It won’t even be confusing as to who the real one is or where they are, they just have a ton of bodies blocking the screen. I did this as a Shatter Mesmer alongside a Phantasm Mesmer in one of the all Mesmer vs all Thieves matches a long time ago. It worked out great to distract because they couldn’t click past the 6 AI.
But for interruption purposes (and not targeting), Mesmer Asura have the advantage.
EDIT: Also our names were a combination of L’s and I’s, along with both looking the exact same.
EDIT2: Asura*, not Mesmers…

Hey, Yotta, your mama’s IQ is so low, she thinks norn cows go “moot.”
Oh, yeah? Your mama’s IQ is so low, she thinks “crafting” is something you do on the “criver.”
Well, your mama’s IQ is so low, she thinks sylvari and golem are precious metals.
Your mama’s IQ is so slow, she thinks “elemental” is four letters in the middle of the alphabet.
Your mama’s IQ is so low, she thinks a golemancer is what you get when you ask a golemquestion.
No, but seriously…your mom is really smart.
Yeah, yours too.
I think the problem here is that all the Mesmer mains aren’t running the fabled 6/6/6/6/6 build (currently 123/123/123,123/123/123,123/123/123,123/123/123,123/123/123) which allows the usage of Decoy -> Mind Wrack -> Time Warp (traited to remove Reveal) -> Mass Invis (instant cast because of traited Time Warp) -> Mimic (traited to reset cooldown of previous 3 abilities) -> double traited DE roll (1 clone 2 Phants up no cast time) -> Mind Wrack -> Time Warp -> Mass Invis -> iZerker -> Signet of the Ether -> iZerker.
If you’re scared, just throw in a Mirror and don’t forget you can always use your back-up Mantra of Distraction (AoE map-wide interrupt), Mantra of Pain (15k nukes, oh boy!), and even use Mantra of Recovery (instant cast Signet of Courage, totally underpowered, amirite?).
And then if somehow the enemy is still alive, you just press F4 for 17 seconds of Stealth and Distortion to stomp them. Meanwhile your DPS is 15k without using any attacks (since iZerker while you stealth is op and if they hit a clone they get a ton of conditions applied to them).
Oh, did I mention that you can do all of this with a single button? The game automatically casts them all in order with no aftercast delay and instantly animation cancelling. All you have to do is sit back and watch Netflix the monitor.
And if that’s not enough, you can even equip gear that has STATS to make yourself stronger.
Do people not know about this site?

I just came.
nice speech path sellers but i stay whit my idea
Welp, we’re done here. The canadians dungeon sellers terk his jerb.
Or…
You can get dungeons rewards once a day.
If you fail to get the dungeon rewards, you will be able to get the previous days dungeon rewards in addition to the daily one.
There is a limit of 7 dungeon rewards.
If you play everyday, you will only get 1 dungeon reward a day.
If you play once a week, you will get up to 7 dungeon rewards (from 7 runs).
If you play once a month, you will get up to 7 dungeon rewards (from 7 runs).
Of course, this is more overhead and information being stored, so… I doubt it’ll happen soon.
Also note that the Pistol Stun is faster than the Sword Daze.
no time limit on the achievement.
Can I quote you on that because:
Crazed Karka Queen Killer: Defeat the Crazed Karka Queen (bring her out of hiding by securing the camps between June 4 and June 11 as described in the above section).
I honestly don’t mind the concept behind Living Story, but it should be in addition to frequent patches, not in lieu of them.
EDIT:
Sorry people will misunderstand my term of patches. I mean content, update, balance, and feature patches.
They need a totally new way to obtain the Precursors, plain and simple.
Mystic Toilet. End-game Chests. Trading Post.
3 methods. 3 choices.
Stop. Complaining.
You don’t need a Legendary. If you do need a Legendary, you’d best stop whining and get/farm it for whatever purpose you need it for.
/thread
That’s a bit extreme for a complete RNG mechanic.
Actually, it’s just standard rng.
RNG turns into a Bell Curve, because of outlyers (in a game like this, pretty much everyone is an outlyer). There will always be the person that is on the extreme side of the bell, and you hear about them often BECAUSE they voice themselves. If you’re in the middle, what’s the point of voicing yourself? Oh, I spent 300g tossing rares into the MF to get a Precursor that costs 300g! Nothing to complain about there, or brag, really.
Using pistols, there are 39 exotic level 80 pistols. Of course, not each exotic pistol has an equal chance of coming out of the mystic forge, but let’s ignore that for this math example.
This means you have a 1/39 chance of getting a precursor (not EXACTLY true, but this is an example).
So, theoretically, with 39 tries, you would have…
1 – (38/39)^39
Or…
~64% chance of getting a specific weapon. This means that you throw in 15400 exotics and got 64 chaos guns you would be the middle of the bell curve. Of course, you also get a free throw every 4 throws, meaning you would only need to have 124.8 exotics to throw in (to have a 64% chance at getting one precursor. If you wanted to see how many it would take to be in the middle of the bell curve, it would be 12480 exotics).
Now, if you’re using rares, you have a 20% chance of upgrading, so the chance of getting a precursor would be 1/20 * 1/39 or a 1/780 chance of getting a precursor. This means that you would have a really low chance of getting a precursor. From there, let’s look at how many tosses you’d need to get a 50% chance of getting a precursor (note: this is a TOTAL of a 50% chance, meaning all of them together equate to a 50/50 chance of getting at least 1 precursor).
1 – (779/780)^x = 0.5
1 = 0.5 + (779/780)^x
1 – 0.5 = (779/780)^x
0.5 = (779/780)^x
To isolate the x, we need to use logarithms. To do this, we’ll take log base 779/780.
The next step will look like…
x = log base 779/780 (0.5)
x = 540.308
So that means you’ll have to use the mystic forge 540.308 times to have a 50% chance of getting a precursor with rare pistols.
How many rare pistols is that?
540.308 * 4 = 2161.232
But then we have to factor in the free 5th toss via rares and also the chance at getting (and using) other exotics.
If we wanted to say that you could get NO exotics from doing this other than a precursor, we can easily subtract 20% to get the 5th free tosses. This would make the total rare pistols equate to…
2161.232 – 20% = 1728.9856
From there, we actually have to go back to get the exotics, so…
20% of 540.308 tosses = 108.0616 exotics.
This means that you have 1728.9856 rares tossed in before the 5th free tosses, so let’s add that in.
1383.18848 rares.
But then you have 108.0616 exotics, which would give you…
108.0616 / 4 = 27.0154, but then you have a fifth free throw for every 4 and 27/4 = 6 so you get 6 more free throws, meaning you essentially get 33 throws out of those 108 exotics.
This gives you a…
1 – (38/39) ^ 33 = ~58% chance.
Which means that your 50% chance of getting a precursor via rares also magically gives you an additional 58% chance of getting a precursor via exotics.
This can be added together by doing some simple math which would make it a 79% chance. (Either done by 50% * (1 – 58%) + 58% = 79% or 58% * (1 – 50%) + 50% = 79%.)
Of course, you’d be using 1383 rares to get this high chance of getting a precursor which, at the current rate of rares, would be ~207.45g (assuming you get every pistol for 15s), let’s also check for 20s which is the near-current buyout price. This is 276.60g.
This is actually very similar to looking at the price of getting a precursor, which is 300g, using buyout.
Going back to the exotics, you need ~128 exotics. Using the buy order price of 85s, you would need 105.40g. Using buyout price of 1.25g, you would need 155g. Of course, there aren’t this many exotics in the market at that low of a price, nor is the current rate of a precursor exactly 1/39 chance through the mystic forge (it’s a lot lower). Note that the rare method gave you a 15% higher chance of getting a precursor than this method even though it was nearly double as pricey. We can actually find the cost efficiency of this… using logarithms again…
1 – (38/39) ^ x = 0.79
(38/39) ^ x = 0.21
x = 60
60 * 4 = 240
240 – 20% = 192.
You would need 192 exotics, which would cost you…
Buy order: 163.20g
Buy out: 240g
Thank you for your time.

Rule of thumb: Never buy things unless it’s the weekend.
Rule of thumb #2: Never buy things unless they’re time-gated or on sale.
Rule of thumb #3; If you ignore the other 2 rules, you paid the price you paid. Deal with it.
The starcakes recipe was a mistake on their part. They forgot to add it to the list of drops, so if anyone had purchased one of the boxes, they got the recipe free when they added the recipe to the drop list.
Actually, he decided to take money from the merchants of LA in a method other than brute force, which is what his legionnaire wanted.
He’s still taking money from the people of LA, just in a more… Ash Legion way.
Save your money! Vote Kiel!
I don’t like Karl, either.
Bring me John Smith and have him give economy lectures.
I want ANet to do what they want.
so this means you want 2 weeks then?
It means I’m happy with whatever they do.
Now all gm traits are crap, i want some statement from devs how the kitten we supose use them, i want to see the movie how they make build and play in tPvP with decent team. Power Block was only one that fell nice, was entery to the build diversity, other traits was dull an useless on relase(especialy Disruptor’s Sustainment this trait is the splap in the face, rather joke than something usefull)
All I gathered was:
- Veil is a circular field, don’t worry about running through it, just cast it on your teammates.
- Clones are op, let them solo and make sure to shatter them so that things will die.
- You only need to auto attack once, so make it count and kill them with one auto attack.
- Veil lasts long enough for a mob to get confused, de-aggro, and then die before regening back to full.
- Mirror Images has a cast time.
- Blink does damage, use it past enemies to instantly kill them like a boss.
- Don’t use Temporal Curtain to pull an enemy back. Run through it for super speed* (does not work if you already have Swiftness).
- Chaos Storm will apply Agony, Confusion, Death, Cripple, and Black Lungs.
- We have an instant-cast
Cantripattack with Staff that burns an opponent, instantly killing them. - Mirror Images actually spawns Phantasms that we can command with secondary skills.
- Mind Wrack is op.
- One dodge roll as a mesmer is about 1000 distance in-game.
- Portal lasts for 15 seconds.
- Dat one auto attack. Make it count.
Your head hurts because other players increased prices while you were busy getting gold and you’re blaming arenanet?
Please don’t ask for a fix, you know what that means: new nerf.
NO, THEY’RE NOT NERFING US. THEY’RE FIXING A BUG THAT HAS BEEN PRESENT FOR 2 YEARS AND CLEARLY WON’T CHANGE PLAYSTYLES ONCE IT’S BEEN ADDRESSED.
Except, you know, the time they fixed Sword auto attack chain, but were afraid of it being too strong, so they also nerfed it.
So… I guess that means the dev approach is:
Too afraid to fix Mesmer stuff unless they directly harm the Mesmer. If something DOES get fixed, it must also get nerfed so as not to ruin the GW2 balance. Which DOES exist… I think… somewhere… in Elona?
Just run ele and pop Swirling Winds in phase 2, though you might get kicked
But Lupi doesn’t kick in phase 2
Lol, 10/10 would laugh again <3
Giganticus Lupicus grew to phase 2!
Giganticus Lupicus wants to learn Slap but Giganticus Lupicus already knows 4 moves! Should a move be forgotten to make space for Slap?
1, 2 and… Poof! Giganticus Lupicus forgot Kick and… Giganticus Lupicus learned Slap!
Giganticus Lupicus wants to learn Lupine Barrage but Giganticus Lupicus already knows 4 moves! Should a move be forgotten to make space for Barrage?
1, 2 and… Poof! Giganticus Lupicus forgot Magic Grub Wand and… Giganticus Lupicus learned Lupine Barrage!
Giganticus Lupicus wants to learn Poison Bolt but Giganticus Lupicus already knows 4 moves! Should a move be forgotten to make space for Poison Bolt?
1, 2 and… Poof! Giganticus Lupicus forgot Spew Grub and… Giganticus Lupicus learned Poison Bolt!
You mean, a recurring $10 charge to get 800 gems a month?
Not necessary in an expansion with mounts, tbh.
You know that problem with Scrappers? The one about, uhh…
Jack of all trades, master of none
That was Mesmer before HoT hit. That is base Mesmer. We can do everything anyone can do, but not better (although we used to be the master of Quickness, wayyyyy back when). Our class mechanics are all over the place, supposedly to allow variety in playstyle, but in application they tend to mash over each other (Phantasms = Sustained Damage, Clones = Shatter, Shatter = Burst). As a class about misdirection, it’s felt like the only people being misdirected are the devs, but there are other issues, more core with the game.
Clones and Phantasms pull from your stats, but not all of them. Runes and Sigils don’t affect them, for the most part, damage multipliers don’t affect them, for the most part, they’re flimsy (even with the focus target health buff). They require a lot of investment to do anything, and any investment you put into them isn’t put on yourself, whereas any investment you put onto yourself isn’t put on them.
I agree, the 6/6/6/6/6 build is really stronk. Quick, let’s go nerf leveling so we don’t see as many Mesmers.
Just as useful/useless as they were before.
Open World, they can burst, but burst isn’t really a thing. Not good at tagging, but can hit World Bosses hard (triple Warlock). Actually, let me rephrase that. Versus World Bosses, Mesmers are the strongest profession.
In WvW, still tagging is an issue. In organized Guild groups, you’re a Veil/Portalbot. In casual groups, you’re a Portalbot (although you’re EXTREMELY kittening helpful).
In s/tPvP, you’re either kittenous PU cheese or distraction-central the game.
I’ve been dealing with Mesmer’s sucking for so long, but I’m nearing the end of the road. I’ve found Thief fun again, and with basically everything Mesmer has, but easier/lower cooldowns.
Mesmers are great and fun and my favorite profession, but… they’re dying slowly and have been for a very long time. Arenanet is not curing their disease and the playerbase thinks they are the disease, but they’re simply plagued. Plagued by lack of direction, lack of understanding, and lack of cohesion.
To put it simply:
Our class Mechanic is to break our Illusions to gain an effect.
40% of our DPS is Phantasms.
Our class Mechanic is to destroy 40% of our DPS.
P2P goes against my religion
You sir, win the internets.
If the game was doing as well as many like to think, what was the point of megaserver and the NPE?
NPE is actually really, really great for the health of the game. There are some parts that still need tweaking cough traits cough, but it’s healthier for the survival since it eases players in better. The people who got hit from the NPE were people rushing to level 80 by skipping PvE content. Because Tomes of Knowledge and Scrolls of Experience aren’t a thing.
Megaservers have tons of advantages and disadvantages. They reduce overall server load, thus potentially cutting costs, while individually (each instance of a map) costs more (resources). However, players are now able to play with each more often (remember trying to level in level 30-60 zones where it was typically empty and seeing a passerby was a rare occurrence?) regardless of partying up.
There are disadvantages to both systems, and some problems that need to be ironed out, but if you expected everything to be perfect on release then I’d be using Windows 8 right now. (Wooo tangential velocity!)
You get your title for map completing once. You get your star for map completing on that character.
Current method is fine, imo.
They took my money and left me wanting more, which they gave for free.
So… your point is that Mesmers have less reflect than Guardians, but suddenly because it’s stationary (just like WoR), it’s worse?
Oh, and then you talk about projectile absorb and bring up summons, but Wardens both absorb and reflect (depending on how you want to play it) with 100% uptime.
So Mesmers have more Reflect than Guardian and they have the same Absorb as Guardian (albeit the 100% Reflect/Absorb uptime requires ~20s of setup, during which you can maintain 100% Reflect via Curtain or double Feedback). If you maintain 100% Reflect/Absorb uptime, you’re also bringing significant DPS through both higher Reflect damage, constant DPS through Wardens, and then you can use any ability you desire on top of that.
So while Guardians may be more “mobile” due to lower skill cooldowns (although I’m not sure how a 40s WoR is shorter than a 32s Feedback) and able to position it anywhere (because, TC doesn’t exist, right?), but they can also Absorb projectiles, something Mesmers don’t have any access to, right?
Tl;dr: Now that Mimic is actually useful, can we stop saying that Mesmer is worse at Reflecting than Guardians when actually they aren’t?
PS: If you say: “Well Mes has to take 2 utilities”, you do realize FB is on a shorter CD than WoR without Mimic. And running Mimic in PvE is absolutely fine in regards to being (non speedrun) meta.
PPS: If you are talking about speedrun meta, Mesmer > Guard because Portal double Blink.
Aetherblade Achievements Anonymous [AAA] is proud to present an anonymous lounge to finish the dungeon’s achievements.
THIS IS NOT A GUILD RECRUITMENT
Why? Because Aetherblade Achievements Anonymous [AAA] does not exist. First off, the name is too long. Second off, I wouldn’t be allowed to post here.
Regardless, I have created a guild to help people do the Aetherblade dungeon. If you’re inexperienced, looking for a specific achievement, or just want to do the dungeon, feel free to get into the guild (no repping, just use the guild to see who’s willing to do the dungeon more/what achievement they want).
Why am I doing this? The dungeon is very fun and rewarding when you finish it. It is also very challenging. I have only ever done this dungeon with pugs, so this is essentially a congregation of pugs to work together as more than just randoms. And no, I am not doing this for myself, I have all the achievements from this dungeon. [src]
I currently have the ranks setup so that it shows what achievement you’re going for.
If anyone is interested in either helping out, running the dungeon, providing VOIP’s for us to use, or even getting achievements, feel free to post here.
And just so you know, the guild is named Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm [HMMM]
This guild is NA

You know why they’re moaning? Because the update is so awesome, they’re moaning in ecstasy.
Simple. Too casual and easy, let’s see tactics and difficulty. Enough said.
Wear full-squishy gear.
There’s more progression than just item rarity and whatnot.
Most people think the game, like most other MMORPG’s, is about item progression. Get the BiS and you’re done. Just like in GW1, getting BiS is a joke. The endgame gear progression should be about getting a fancy and pretty armor/weaponset that makes you feel happy. That’s the item progression.
The gear progression should, also, be looked at in a different light.
Get beefy gear that will let you live when you make a mistake.
Slowly start getting squishier gear as you learn to mitigate damage with your profession’s utility.
End up with full-squishy gear and not die.
If you want tactics and difficulty, give yourself a challenge. If you’re truly a hardcore player you would get yourself out of your element and put yourself at risk. Go into WvW and solo/roam. Keep going and take okittenerg.
If that’s not your cup of tea, try soloing a dungeon or a dungeon boss. There are a lot of solo’s that have been recorded. That’s something that’s in almost any players reach if they dedicated time and effort. I, personally, would like to do something like that but am limited by an ~15fps machine running on lowest settings when fighting big battles. It tends to spike during the crucial moments, too, but I won’t go into details because I’m also making excuses for how bad I can be, at times.
Don’t think that Legendaries and Exotics/Ascended make you a hardcore player. I’m a casual that plays the game hardcore. Sure, I’ll be an elitist and do Fractals or CoF speedruns, but I only do it if I have something that I will gain. In terms of Fractals, it was an ascended backpiece. In regards to CoF speedruns, it’s for quick cash and adding to my sword collection (with the tokens).
e-specs were SUPPOSED to add something new, mesmer being bound to a target is so obnoxious to deal with

I mean, yeah, the only good thing to come out of the elite spec are 2 abilities.
Keeping up all the boons in the game constantly and catching up to a Necro that is kiting while also blocking and mitigating tons of damage does not require skill? If only being a Mesmer that good required no skill…
I’m okay with the difficulty. It’s actually quite simple as long as your team isn’t made of wood. The only problem I have is Kiel being there. She does absolutely nothing the entire time and simply stalls your group at the end, potentially. She’s like a dumbed down version of Trahearne. It’s pretty bad.
However, many players (including many Mesmer players) tend to feel like PU’s 100% increased stealth duration is not only a bit too powerful, it’s cheap and not fun to deal with (i.e. dampens the fun of the game. See: Turret Engineer.)
Da hwut? The Prestige is silly because of the stealth duration you get from it with PU, but that’s not op since you’re not doing anything except stealthing. Running PU in WvW is strong because stealth is a get out of jail free card and the longer the duration, the more freedom you have.
In PvP, the point is to get the job done, not drop all your damage for suvivability (unless that survivability is just plain dumb, cough this cough and used for the sole purpose of trolling the enemy team or pressuring a point, which low access to moderate durations of stealth does not do).
The general concensus is that PU is not OP.
Uhmm.. the daily has a 24 hour clock that resets at 5PM PST.
So… your suggestion is already implemented.
The problem, I think, is that an elite specialisation is meant to be a sideways progression; not more powerful, but a different way to play.
This statement hits the ball out of the park.
At present it seems the most effective way to play Mirage is to play core mesmer and press 1 every time you press dodge.
And he makes another home run, wowie.
