[Chronomancer] 8 Phantasms attack chain

Does the Phantasm re-summoned by Chronophantasma have reset attack timers?

Could use Shatter to reset the attack timers on Phantasm faster then they could attack normally. On Duelists this would be massive once Duelist Discipline is fixed. But all damage Phantasms would benefit from it.

Plus you could get 13 Shatters in (abusing F5 and Signet of Illusions/Ether). Abuse the baseline Illusionary Persona, Chronophantasma and Illusionary Reversion to make each Shatter a 3 man shatter. That would be 39 stacks of Torment (prenerf Maim would be 78 stacks lol) plus 48 stacks of Confusion from Shatters alone.

Strictly PvE only but it does counter the biggest issues of Mesmers in PvE by not needing Phantasms to stay alive.

They’re dazed for 1s after CP, so… unless you or a Tempest brings an AoE stunbreak, they’re not gonna attack.

Swiftness Calculation

Esplen.3940

I believe there’s a limit to how many “instances” of swiftness you can have (think bleeding stacks but hidden). As such, it’s better to have long lasting swiftness applied versus lots of little amounts. The 20s is definitely good, paired with swiftness duration (or boon duration).

I would suggest, if you are just running around in PvE, to get as many points (preferably 30) into the traitline giving you boon duration. The runes will all grant a bonus effect upon getting struck or using a heal skill, so be wary as that may harm your swiftness stacking (only initially).

Using only Sigil of Speed, I have obtained upwards of 4 minutes of swiftness on myself. When I transfer the boon using Signet of Inspiration, it grants only 1m45s of swiftness to allies around me, however that counts as one “instance” and I can constantly transfer it (just under 3 times) in that duration.

For food, I would suggest boon duration food instead.

[Chronomancer] 8 Phantasms attack chain

Are we talking PvE or PvP efficiency? Phantasms have a 1s cast time, assuming you have the full duration of CS (6s, not 4s or 3s with no clones as people have been putting it), you can theoretically do the shatters you expect.

Spawn 2 Phants → SotE → Spawn 1 Phant | 4 seconds have passed at this point | → F1 → Chronophantasma → F2 | At this point, 4.5 seconds have passed and your opponent still has not reacted to you | → 1.5s left of CS (this area is used whenever you make a mistake or don’t properly queue an ability).

Then you can start the chain from the beginning, meaning you have spent 10 seconds of shattering on your opponent without them reacting with 8s of casting and 1s of shatters (each shatter has a 0.25s global ICD before you can activate another).

Disregarding Phantasm damage, that still isn’t practical unless you’re running a hybrid condi shatter build. Plus you’re setting yourself up to get interrupted, damaged, killed, or basically anything. If any of your Phants get cleaved, the DPS is significantly lowered.

If you’re going for Mind Wracks, it’s more efficient to just single illusion MW twice since you don’t have to worry about prep or illusions being cleaved (dodge over MW, CS ends, dodge over MW).

The only reason I see doing that long chain is if you’re testing “lolopdamagenerfnerf” against a Golem which isn’t going to react to you (aka PvE). If any of the Illusions dies on the way to the Wrack while already being casted, your damage is going to drop lower than doing a single illusion MW.

Lots of casting for little to no return. Even if you wait for the Phants to do their attack animation (which you can’t since you’re on a time budget in CS), it only becomes super high DPS on paper and not actually practical.

Unless, of course, your opponent plays with a handicap, like one hand or 500ms+ latency. Not that a one handed opponent couldn’t whup another player, but if they were stubborn and didn’t decide to adjust the hotkeys and change their setup to accommodate it, they’re probably not going to be able to target you, position properly, and avoid the damage (especially since Duelists and Swordsman will be Wracking at separate times).

Oh right, Duelists and Swordsman will be Wracking at separate times meaning this isn’t a nuke (did I mention you’re also casting for 8s?)

Cd is too long and you can’t retarget them onto Sam without suiciding.

Boss 2 and 3 for S/O won’t work because the bosses disappear and reappear so you’d still have to resummon. Deimos prides aren’t killed unless they’re close, so that’s a pretty irrelevant point (they should be immob “stunned”). Chaos Fractals boss the retarget won’t be up after mobs are dead, so you’d have to retarget them onto the Anomaly, lowering your encounter dps.

There are still other words to use than exciting and excited.

Examples:

“We’ll be using the September 2014 Feature Pack to bring some engaging changes to the megaserver system!”
“We’re pleased to announce some updates to commander tags!”
“The September 2014 Feature Pack is on its way, and we’re extremely enthusiastic about the balance changes it will bring!”
“The September 2014 Feature Pack is bringing exclusive additions to PvP!”

Note for the middle two, it’s THEIR opinion, so it’s fine for it to be exciting, however I changed them for the sake of this posts purpose.

The first and last ones are both more appropriate and not forcing an opinion onto the reader.

Just because something can be exciting doesn’t mean it will. If you’re excited, you can say that, but you shouldn’t say that “it’s an exciting thing that’s going to happen” just because you’re excited.

How to Fix PU

To fix PU just reduce the duration to +50% and make the Aegis proc only on entering stealth.

True, there are still Mesmers taking it over the other two actually useful traits. Got to fix that!

Seriously? I only see PU being remotely viable in PvE stealth runs (derp?) and WvW.

Because there’s supposed to be balance in ZvZ and 1vZ?

I mentioned it in my first post which was the third response.

Regardless, it isn’t looked at as a support/healer class, yet it can perform (and even outperform) the same as other professions. The reason why it isn’t a typically choice is because it is really mostly endgame where the supportiness can shine. It requires huge traiting specifically for that and requires you to build for it.

Mesmer as a class is a jack of all trades, master of none. However, once you start slapping on traits, you hone your trade into a precise style. That’s the power of a Mesmer. Of course, most people don’t know or realize that since Mesmer is a typically unknown profession.

Mesmer is one of the hardest and most skill oriented professions (arguably all professions are) with the highest learning curve. Leveling a Mesmer is a chore and not something that’s entirely fun. Once you hit 80, you just start the learning curve. Keep in mind that with proper micro-management, the Mesmer can be a god (chain dazes, instant nukes, de-target, avoidance, disruption, punishment).

If you’re looking for a difficult profession, go for Mesmer/Ele/Engineer. If you’re looking for a sought out profession go Guardian/Mesmer. If you’re looking to have fun go -insertanyprofessionhere-.

Firstly, I never said it was 100%. I suggest you re-read my previous post more carefully.

Woah, woah, woah, let me stop you right there…

Furthermore, you pay 300 gems (roughly 4-5G) for a BL salvage kit with only 25 uses. This should be enough leverage to have a 100% for ecto.

And then let’s continue….

Now secondly. I’m sorry but how is getting ectos, especially 250, an easy task? There are two ways, salvage or buy, but both are tedious to say the least – the latter would seem the more prefered choice seeing as the prices are quite high. Those who have high number of ectos already are controling a large portion of the market because many of the “end game” achievements require ectos. Hence why the “gap” is currently, IMO, too large.

So then it’s not hard to see why it would be a bannable offense to be able to get 250 ecto’s with 1 ecto and not having to spend anything (relatively).

It would seem that players prefer to get gold and trade for ectos – while others make a bucket load of $$$. If the process of getting ectos were less tedious, then players, generally speaking, would be less inclined to use the TP and CHEAT.

Except people CHEATED [the ecto method] and DID NOT USE THE TP with this offense, which is WHY they were banned.

[Suggestion] Feedback skill targetting

Esplen.3940

I feel like it would be too powerful with both Ground Targeting or self-targeting.

Being able to drop it onto a choke point is ridiculous. And yourself standing on that choke isn’t too hard.

I remember pre-patch having a noob-tube build for fighting the Molten Duo Fractal if my group couldn’t ever survive. It was a “solo” build meant for taking your time. Traited Blink Portal Feedback with Mirror Heal and Medic’s Feedback (it had a 10s cooldown back then). Sit on a dead NPC or ally and pop the Feedback then proceed to GS auto attack. If Bers jumps on you, blink away (don’t forget to drop an entrance portal across the fight from you) and continue auto attacking. Maintain Feedback to prevent Firestorm from hurting you. If Bers is about to blink onto you, cast Feedback on him, then blink onto Feedback after he blinks onto you. Use Portal if you’re panicking (or trapped in flame circles). Swap to Staff2 if you have no more blinks. Mirror when necessary.

Suuuuuper slow, but it works. Also you can retrait and change your gear after Bers dies since you have about 10s to OOC and retrait.

If you could just ground-target a Feedback you wouldn’t need to focus on as much stuff, not that that means anything and I’m just tangenting super hard right now so bye bye.

Chronomancer got an offhand, so less new skills, that’s probably one of the reason we got a new skill elsewhere. Otherwise mesmers could argue 3 of the skills from guardian longbow should only replace an existing skills they have.

Weeeeeell… discounting heal/utilities/elite since everyone gets 1/4/1.

Elementalist get 2×4 + 4 skills. Warhorn offers 2 offhand skills for each Element. Tempest inherently get their overload skills which is 4.

Guardian get 5 skills + 3 “half” skills. Longbow offers 5 skills, kitten . Each of the F skills get an update, which is both an addition yet not a net gain on skills (compared to overloading).

Reaper gets 5 skills + 5 “half” skills. Greatsword offers 5 skills. F skill gets full revamp, similar to Guardian.

Chronomancer gets 2 + 1 skills. Shield grants 2 offhand skills. CS is a full blown new skill, slightly moreso than overloading.

Druid gains 5 + X skills. Staff is a two handed weapon, thereby granting 5 weapon skills. We don’t know what else they gain.

Soooooo… Elementalist gets the most skills. Reaper has the second most updates, followed by Guardians. Chronomancer gets the least amount of skills in any comparison thus far (even if you count Chrono wearing a Shield compared to other professions not wearing their new weapon) bar the “half” skills not counting as net gain of skills.

Crafting with cores is a very profitable market which I have been doing for months. My gold typically goes up and down like really unstable stocks due to my wanting to buy something and my wanting to make gold. I also sometimes make extremely bad investments which come back to bite me, but for the most part, I would say stick to a stable profitable item and use it sparingly until it gets worked out.

Example:
Turn [] core into lodestone. Sell lodestone.
Buy 4 [] cores. Repeat.
Repeat with 4 cores. Do not pass 4 so as to cut your losses if it fails.

That’s kind of my new method to make sure I don’t lose out on profit, of course I’m not selling lodestones, but that’s another thing. Always make sure to keep any profit to yourself and close friends because once it gets out, the supply will jump and the demand will either cease or the price will drop due to everyone trying to get their profits (although most people won’t do the math and will just try to undercut).

Another thing is to always~ list EQUAL to the lowest seller. Why? It puts you at the top of the stack, meaning you’re going to sell first if anyone buys.

~: Don’t always list equal to the lowest seller if it isn’t a guarantee sale, like a really unstable market. Make sure you check to see if the stock of a certain item disappear to list things, otherwise it might just be one of those “all the stock is gone, but we’ll be back later!” prices.

Why are we arguing? These people are playing the legendary 6/6/6/6/6/6 build. Able to spawn phantasms capable of constantly attacking with no cooldown. Clones that override your targeting, making you have to reclick on that pesky mesmer. Every shatter gains mind wrack in addition to their other effects, like applying Confusion, Torment, Might, and Vulnerability. Distortion is always readily available, despite being on a 40s cooldown. Able to use both MI and TW in a single fight. Uses Decoy and Desperate Decoy to bypass Revealed. 100% Slow uptime on enemies with permanent AoE pulsing Alacrity to all allies. Able to both (yes, both) stealth with Torch while spawning Duelist, Berserker, and Swordsman with a single weapon swap (or two). PU for infinite stealth whether or not you’re slotting Mimic… and more, duhhhhhh.

Axe/Axe, will it ever have a place?

in Warrior

Posted by: Esplen.3940

Esplen.3940

Yes, let’s implement a cooldown reduction attack in a game that has no inherent mana costs thereby making a spam-happy skill have none of the intended drawbacks while also incentivizing stacking in corners (spam toss against wall→immediately pick up and either toss again or wait for reduced cooldown).

For it to be balanced, it would probably end up like RTL. It would not be better when you reduce it; it would be necessary to reduce it.

Additionally, for Axe 5. Any of those changes would make it ridiculous with the inherent ability of movement and rolling. It is one of the few channeled skills that allow free movement (bar jumps, iirc) in addition to rolling. The only ones that I can think of off the top of my head would be the two Thief skills; Steal Axe 5, which would obviously get it because it’s the same skill and the elite skill, Daggerstorm, which also reflects projectiles but is an elite skill with a much longer cooldown…

Sure, you might not ever really use Axe 5, but it’s safe damage while moving. If you need to follow a boss or enemy and want to hit them, then you ckittene Axe 5. Now, you might say that you can also just auto attack, but you can’t roll while auto attacking (unless you break the auto chain and lose a few hits). So yes, the usage is very, very, very niche, but if they do any of the changes listed in this thread (bar the Protection Prysin suggested) for Axe 5, it would break the skill. Adding damage needs to be careful because it is 15 hits per and they would be modifying the damage of each individual hit. Making it reflect projectiles is too strong combined with the mobility. Having it break stuns would probably force it to get a slightly longer cooldown. Stealing health doesn’t really make sense for a warrior, but remember that the maximum amount of hits is kitten at a rate of 100 hp/hit it would give 4,500 hp. A fair, but harder way to code this, would be to make it start off with a very low amount of hp/hit and slowly increase as the skill goes off, incentivizing prolonged usage of the skill versus a quick dip in the spin house while waiting on cooldowns.

Tl;dr: The main problems with buffing skill 5 is to punish players who don’t use it for the full duration while benefiting players who use it for the full duration (see any skill that has a bonus damage on final hit *cough*100b*cough*) without making it too strong (fast hands for HB→Axe5→HB→Axe5→HB→Axe5 nearly permanent hard hitting skills. Chase down during Axe 5 because of free mobility).

Although I will admit, Axe/Axe animations look great even though I run GS + S/Sh for arah [solo] runs since that’s all I do on my War(PS when in groups and I don’t actually run Fast Hands). And yes, I know I should switch to Sword offhand, but I’m too lazy to get another Sword (even though I have over 13 Swords on my Mes, hue).
