Actually the mechanic is more complicated and I think it varies by enemies.
-they can get revived
-they can explode after 3 seconds
-they can be consumed by larger mobs, transforming them to even more powerful enemies
It’s…
Horrors (The Hound-like Screechers) will create Menders.
Menders (The Wasp-like Healers) will create Terrors.
Terrors (The Breeze Rider-like Spitters) will create Exploding Turrets.
Nightmares (The Karka-like Reflectors) will not create anything.
Also, when in combat, it’s possible for 2 Horrors to merge into a Veteran. If they do this while one of them is in the throes of death (dying animation) it will still work AND a scrap will appear on the ground that will typically be turned into a Mender fast.
What dyes are you using? Have you tried changing the dyes? It could make all the difference.
I agree that stomping while invis is overly strong, but remember that they are using a precious skill (usually with a high cooldown) to guarantee that stomp.
I feel like they’re taking a decent approach. Essentially each part of the Living Story will take 3-4 months to complete. They have a few groups (I’m assuming 3-4) that are going to take turns releasing 2 patches a month.
If they threw all of those people into one group, it would be hectic and I doubt much would get done (but it would at least look amazing).
Only casual players are “forced” to bring out their credit cards to keep up with the best gear and that’s only because they’re so casual that they don’t realize how easy it is to get the best gear (and/or don’t have the time to get it, even though it’s superbly easy).
Your entire wall of text is countered by the logic of players actually, you know, playing the game.
The quotes are:
We’ll also add a new set of account-bound crafting materials to the game. You’ll receive these materials as guaranteed rewards once per day per unique location for completing content within a category of gameplay in Guild Wars 2.
For example, capturing camps, towers, and keeps in WvW will earn you these crafting materials. In the Living World, you can earn them for killing giant world bosses, defeating dungeons, completing jumping puzzles, completing mini-dungeons, finishing some types of guild missions, capturing temples in Orr, and other activities.
Since you’re leveling up and only level 33, your traits won’t make a difference. Heck, they won’t make a difference until you’re level 80, but at level 60, aim for Deceptive Evasion in Dueling (X).
Distortion is kind of a panic-button/extra evade. The builds are extremely niche and should not be ran while leveling up.
Shatter is an appropriate route, with your level in mind.
For your first trait point, I would suggest placing it in Dueling for the Vigor on Critical Hits. Not only does this give you Vigor for evades, it also gives you Critical Chance and Critical Damage. It’s a nice balance of Defense and Offense.
If you need to have more defense than that, put your first point into Chaos for the Regeneration. It will be helpful, along with the Toughness provided from the line.

Also, Belinda’s Greatsword used to glow because it was her greatsword and not the one we have available.
Additionally, I doubt they’ll re-use NPC dialogues. While it would improve the immersion into the game, it’s more work than just re-doing everything from the start (unless you know where to look for the dialogue).
NPC to the left and there’s a button called Hot Join (or Play Now or something). It automatically places you with people around your rank. It’s not perfect, but that’s the best thing to do as a beginner.
When you’re level 7, Press H and then equip 2 daggers in the first slot, and a Pistol as your mainhand in the second slot (by dragging manually). From there, when you weapon swap, you’ll switch between D/D and P/D.
EDIT: Added a picture to show you a D + P/D which will achieve the same thing.

I think that what he meant to say was Block.
It costs significantly less Endurance than a dodge roll and prevents skill usage while being used.
Also, I think Blocking and Attacking was meant to be more of a duelist type game, if you look at the Claypool Heart in Human Starting Zone.
That’s a nice catch. I think it’s probably an oversight because what’s underwater combat?
DE + IH actually works. The spawned clone does Ambush from my tests.
I have another character who’s in the 40s and still on the tutorial quest (which means I can’t actually progress my PS).
Wait…….what?
Old exploit. You join a friend in a PvP match while in the tutorial, then you exit to the Mists (do not exit PvP) and walk to Lion’s Arch. It no longer works, and it stops you from completing your personal story unless you send in a support ticket.
Then again, it’s a guardian named “Legendary Beginner” so I think it’s fitting.
Haha, then I don’t stand a chance xD
BTW, I edited my post, but you reply too fast :-P
LOL thats all true I guess.
But I mean if I can just tell my boss “That’s too hard” to not do something…. Well.
I was in the uncomfortable position of telling my boss that something was impossible to do with the current engine/implementation.
Except that it wasn’t… because the engine could handle it, but the implementation that customers got couldn’t. And I was only allowed to use what customers had.
And I was an Intern.
Funtimes. If you’re going to have a software position, make sure your boss isn’t in marketing or sales… even if they have hardware/software background.
Mel, I will have to respectfully disagree with your view. The game caters to casuals and players who run cookie-cutter ezmode builds. It’s only that way because the majority of people don’t want to try and put in any effort. Zerging is a thing only because it’s efficient and mindless.
However, playing in a close-knit group can give you greater rewards with just as much effort (as long as you’re capable of playing the game past 2 buttons). Arah P1+2+3 in under 2 hours is a simple feat if you work with others on a constant basis and know how to play.
With that said, the vocal part of the community is always going to be full of negative nancy’s.
Mesmers can tag all mobs, even if there are multiple groups at a time.
That is BS. Unless you are on a low pop server there is absolutely no way
Wording, mesmers can tag all mobs.
Yes, they can, doesn’t mean they will do it 100% of the time.
Thus every continuum split is a free, pretty large burst for absolutely no cost.
Free damage, sure, but free burst is pushing it. Just mashing buttons because you can might actually lower your DPS (and even burst potential).
He’s referring to insta-cast skills, things you can do while maintaining auto-attack or channeling Blurred Frenzy. If it’s instant cast and you’re NOT using it during a CS then you’ve essentially wasted it. However, given the timing it might be difficult to do so while maintaining your normal DPS without utilizing a keyboard macro.
Of which the only available skills are Shatters (which, again, can drop your DPS if spammed improperly), Feedback, Mantra Charges (which don’t come back), Phase Retreat, Chaos Armor (staff skill), Signet of Midnight, and Portal.
Sure, if you can drop a Shatter without lowering your DPS, that’s fantastic and you should use it. But don’t always drop skills willy nilly (I guess Feedback, SoM, and Chaos Armor can’t hurt).
I logged in and did a test specifically of that. Every clone I spawned (with both traits) did an Ambush on spawn. I didn’t record it because my computer has no ram until later this week.
You NEED to have both traits on (obviously) otherwise it won’t work. It doesn’t really justify IH or make it good, by any means, but it was nice to know that the synergy was there.
I probably should have recorded my tests, but I wrote it down in my notes and distinctly remember logging in specifically for that test and then logging off after realizing it worked.
Now, that doesn’t mean that WP is saying accurate things. Most of his talks on Mesmer in his video are entirely conjecture like “it would be cool if they synergized, otherwise it would suck” and “it’s great that they have access to so much endurance regen” (what?) with things like food and guardians traited f2 (what?) and that makes weakness powerful (what?).
Also, Mirage is definitely not the fastest by any means. The Superspeed and Executioner’s Axe Toy combo is only the fastest if you’re in combat, which means that you can’t re-activate the toy because you’re in combat. As such, Engineer is technically faster as they have access to on-demand Superspeed (if they get hit mid-axe) and can just Swiftness the rest of the way, with a leap on Hammer and Rocket Boots.
Outside of abusing Superspeed, you also have Warrior who can stagger Sword 2 or GS3/4 in between uses of the Axe Toy (2s downtime) while maintaining high swiftness uptime. If you don’t want to abuse Exec Axe, then Daredevil is faster by far.
(edited by Esplen.3940)
I would say report for verbal abuse, because if they did kick you, they most likely also talked trash about you. If not, then I dunno.
Also, stay away from groups where all 4 members are in the same guild.
Dagger DPS is high because of Backstab and Heartseeker. The auto chain is pretty weak if you have to go through the entire chain.
If you could have a skill that you can cast, AoE, in between the auto 1-2 you could improve the 2target dps, but #2345 are all single target, bar Death Blossom and Bouncing Blades, both of which aren’t going to be good for power DPS.
Sword, on the other hand, cleaves to 3 targets as opposed to 2 and also has AoE on Pistol Whip. All other skills are going to be single target, bar Bouncing Blades.
Why not a combination based on time spent inside the well.
Note: Each pulse should be per-target, meaning you start with pulse 1 effect, even if you enter during the final pulse.
First pulse: Pull.
Second pulse: Chill.
Third pulse: Cripple.
Fourth pulse: Float.
Maybe different things, but that’s just what I can come up with off the top of my head while distracted by eating spicy food.
You can just put on two-step verification to use your phone or email. I would suggest using your phone.
Run Warrior and put on “twink” gear if you have the Digital Deluxe Edition (for the personal banker). Basically, purchase level 0 Chainmail armor and put in any Runes that give Power (make sure they are diverse and not the same, you don’t want the 2nd minor bonus). Put on a Polla of Might (adorned ruby jewel) and a Hero’s Band if you have it (don’t bother putting anything inside).
Put on a Greatsword of Justice (+3% damage to bandits), but keep your Sword on hand.
Unlock skill 2 on your Sword in the tutorial.
Put on your Greatsword and cleave everything.
When running where you need to go (from the Waypoints, since there are parts you need to run) use Greatsword 5 + Greatsword 3 + Sword 2 to move fast. Don’t bother with the Warhorn as you shouldn’t bother grinding up enough mobs to unlock the Swiftness.
Arenanet
Seriously, guys. Just chill. I read the interview and nothing is mentioned in verbatim indicating that SAB is not going to come back. I am confident it will come back eventually. Perhaps around mid-season or near the end of the season, who knows?
SAB is not going to come back during the course of LS2 because Mordremoth > Jumping around. Makes sense, but then they go on to say that we may not be seeing SAB after LS2, depending on if, when, how they can fit it in into the overarching story. Also, it sounded like LS was going to be a big, big, big continuation annd that means it’s too intense for jumping around.
As I see it, there is just very little reason for a player not to take Chronomancer.
Except that, you know, you’re not taking a different traitline and we’re already hardpressed with our trait choices.
Or you know, they just can make them instanced for every player.
Do not blame the players for their playstyle (as annoying as it is for you), blame the game mechanics. The game mechanics are what they are, but there’s no reason to screw over other players when it takes a few seconds longer not to.
Oh really? Well today I was good enough to wait for 2 other palyers in a low level map (I was first tot he holoprojector). When we activated the holoprojector, the warrior rushed through the mobs and killed them instantly.
Again, why should I follow your miniguide?
Drop a tagskill beforehand.
What I do is if I see someone else, I’ll drop Radiation Field below where they spawn. This does enough damage to tag all the mobs but will not kill any mob by itself (even for the full duration). This ensures that other players get an opportunity to tag mobs at their own pace, especially at low levels (since it applies poison and weakness to help them survive).
Other than the final mission, the LS2 was fairly trivial. The only reason why the last fight was a pain is because I’m a Mesmer in full squish gear so ~40% of my DPS is out of the window because the Tentacles like to smack things that get close (and Phantasms/Clones love to go close).
If you’re having difficulties, you may want to change up your approach. Otherwise, you’re in the green looking for a guild (might want to check the guild recruitment section instead of this one) or just use the Open World LFG. There are plenty of LS2 listings everyday.
Who cares?
I have 15 alts. I run Zone 1 on each of them daily, if I feel like it and time permits. So far I have one found skin and one bauble-purchased skin. I’ll have one more bauble-purchased skin today.
If someone has dedicated that much time to deleting and re-creating alts, then running again and again, I don’t see a problem with it.
The nice thing about SAB is that it actually is accessible to everyone who wants to play it, the way they want to play it, for as long or as little as they want to play it. It has a chance to get nice things, and a guarantee of getting nice things.
There are plenty of things to be elitist about and angst over who has something you do or who didn’t earn it the way you think they should have. Please don’t bring it into this.
Thank you for summing up the things I have been saying in another method. (Not dry sarcasm, this is sincere thanks)
Honestly, if people want to hardcore grind, let them. Don’t complain to Arenanet because other people are capable/willing/wanting to get things faster than you. If you don’t want to dedicate yourself wholeheartedly, then don’t. If you do want to, then do. It’s a game, stop whining and enjoy yourself. If you don’t get enjoyment because other people have more shiny things than you, perhaps you’re a skritt perhaps you need to find your own shiny.
I’m personally going for 2x Sword, 1x Greatsword, 1x Staff, 1x Shield, 1x Backpack. I have just under 125 bauble bubbles and 2 Scepters (wot, lol). I’m content with getting none of them, mostly because I already have Final Rest, Wooden Swords (oh yes, I have plenty of these bad boys), can’t wear Shield, and I have almost every backpack skin soulbound to my main.
and how is delete character farming NOT trying harder? You are saying that I should be limited to how much bobbles I can get because of how many characters I have and then limited on not being allowed to delete farm the thing. So essentially now you would be favoring a person that only has 1 or 2 characters. I have 8. I work hard on 8 to outfit 8, why should I get less for it?
Then furthermore I never seen the GS be 40G. When the instance just opened on Underworld server it was 8G. Now is 20G. The demand is high, the amount of people not running at all is high as well, the farmers are selling he skins now, supplying the demand that is there right now. A good thing. We have a limited supply of those skins having in mind that the event will only be there for 30 days. Want to make actual profit? Don’t worry about people buying skins now, when the supply is high, sell them when supply gets low.
All servers share the TP. When I checked on day 1, it was 40g. Are you sure you’re not looking at the sword (current price is ~8g). The greatsword is on page 2 of the trading post if you type in “super” as your search query.
Additionally, all players SHOULD be rewarded by how hard they try. If you want to try harder to get bauble bubbles, you should be rewarded with more. It’s a very simple input/output stream of “income”. You have 8 character slots, so do I. If you are unable to spare one of those slots, perhaps you can spare 16g. if you can’t do that, which is a hefty price, then you clearly don’t want to try harder to getting the skins faster, which is a personal choice of yours. I’m not trying to attack you, I’m just stating that by choosing not to open up a slot, you’re accepting the fact that you’re unwilling to try harder.
Unless all your characters are 80 with soulbound expensive things (in which case 16g should be affordable) I see no excuse for not being able to delete a character. I deleted a character because I have 2 character slots that are my “come and go” slots where I create and delete based on what new class I want to play. All 5 other character slots of mine are banks and the final slot is my main. That’s how I want to play, that’s how I will play. It’s neither right nor wrong, it’s just my way. I had to adhere to the “meta” of farming, but that’s a price I’m willing to pay.
Why? Because I don’t always play, but when I do get on, I usually get on for long sessions, so being able to grind-farm when I’m in the mood is definitely something I look forward to. Doing it as a daily thing can be repetitive and is not always possible (last week I was rushing to create a game, which I successfully did. Essentially created a game from scratch using a GUI in 5 days, but that’s off-topic).
Just saying, everyone has their own methods. Until people accept that, whining will continue and I will continue to be there to advocate acceptance.

What if you could buy temporary account wide AR in exchange for an infused ring? Say +5 or +10 for the day… that doesn’t help second accounts, but at least then you can take some alts in for some fun and have a use for the plethora of infused rings you are probably using your alts to hold for you anyway.
Ascended Gear is account bound. Unless you’re running Fractals with characters below level 80 (in which case they have 0 AR), your “extra” or even current set of rings are enough.
They’ve done plenty of name cleanses for GW1 → GW2 name preservation, so this is just like saying “I want your character’s name. I want it bad. Give it to me. Now. Arenanet, I deserve the name more than this person, who actually got it at the first come, first server. Give it to me, Arenanet. Now.”
Don’t worry, guiz. Copy all dem boons with a 4s cast time. It’s like a Mantra, without the charges!
Inb4 they give it a root as well.
Pet swap.

It’s a smart move.
A: It’s casual.
B: It stops massive inflation.
Note: Crafting material prices may rise due to the usage in obtaining Zephyr chests. If they were to allow players to also craft Celestial gear upon release of this content, the prices would skyrocket (or at least have a major shift in price).
Wait….is that….Link!?
Nah man, clearly it’s a gender-bent Zelda. Everyone knows Zelda is the hero of Hyrule.
And Zelda is pretty cool, he doesn’t wear tranchcoats.
Fear not, Cynistera, I am coming on my level 17 guardian to your aid!
(edited by Moderator)
Start with Exotic but save up for Ascended (try to get to at least high enough in your crafting professions to create the daily materials and attempt to create the daily materials) unless you don’t care about Fractals at all.
A dev will not confirm nor deny what I have said. The rule is “one key, one action”. I wrote my response in accordance to that. If you’re just going to sit here waiting for a dev, I would suggest getting a tent and a fishing rod, because it’s going to be a long wait.
It’s not so much that people can use it without going into stealth, it’s that while in stealth people can use it just as effectively and make it a pain to kill a Mesmer and it’s not a very good playstyle.
If there was a condition tied, like “Clones killed after the first 5s of creation apply conditions when killed.” then it could be more fair.
Or make it so that the effect does not occur unless a Clone is killed by a damaging attack and not due to over-spawning illusions.
There can also be people who flip on the market and have written their own code to get notifications when they get outbid on items through constant API calls, however I’m quite sure something like that wouldn’t be instantaneous (or it could potentially DDoS the GW2 API through too many calls in a short span. It would also require a very powerful machine to sort through it that fast.)
I digress. While it is possible (and potentially true) that there are bots on the TP. The fact that you, @Earlywood, claim that nobody can respond that fast means that you’re probably using a bot program with which it’s inhumanly possible to react (and then double check the price). Think about it, how else would you be able to know that someone else is outbidding you at a speed incapable of a normal human? Just a logical fallacy on your end…
Check out the dyealogue.
Buy those nifty mining picks and walk up to those ores whenever you see one on your minimap. The next step is to press F.
I’m a PvE player, I do raids, fractals, dungeons (those still exist?) and honestly I can’t see myself using Sword on Mirage because you’re losing out on so much for a daze and a clone. If you want clone gen, you can use Deceptions and Deceptive Evasion. if you want dazes.. F3, Moa, MoD, SoD, Pistol5, Scepter2, Sword4, Focus4 all do the same job but better.
It doesn’t have to be godly damage, but if your class mechanic is weaker than an auto attack, there’s something wrong. (Also GS ambush is weaker than a GS auto attack, and Spear ambush is weaker than a spear auto attack.)
I’m not going to quit saying it: All the ambushes are scaled as if we have 3 clones with Infinite Horizon. That’s the only way any of the ambushes do anything significant. Even Scepter Ambush is basically a mini Scepter3 merged with Phase Retreat (without any clones).
As for False Oasis I think people are just knee jerk reacting. The only dilemma I see with it is the Mirror being placed where you cast it. I would like to see it become a ground target so you can predict or even set up something.
Save them for 450 crafting. You use them a lot.
I strongly disagree with A. You had to get the kite in the WvW jump puzzle to earn the meta achievement. This requires you to be good with JP and be able to survive players from other worlds killing you before reaching the end.
There were 26 achievements other than the Meta-Achievement. 24 of them counted towards the Meta-Achievement. The Meta-Achievement required 16 achievements.
Please explain why you needed to get the WvW jump puzzle kite?
I don’t think SoI will affect it. If you notice SoI it states which Shatters it recharges. The explicitness I think is intentional for the release of Chronomincers.
I’m not going to lie, spamming OOW Kits for 100% invis uptime was just cheese, and this is coming from a Mesmer, meaning I’m there for pretty much every dirty trick in the book.
