There are so many GW1 costumes/outfits that they could’ve used for the gemstore instead of using the t3 human light cultural armor. -_- WHY anet, why?!

I settled for exotics when Legendary weapons were “available”, and will continue to do so until I can actually get the parts together. As such . . . I like to think I’m a realist. Realistically, I’m not earning that Legendary or affording it anytime soon so just get comfortable and don’t think about “could have been shredding things with that awesome Twilight if I wasn’t poor”.

Ascended equipments aren’t prestige items. They are simply the BiS items in the game as when exotics were back then. If they maintained exotics as the BiS gear, with its variety of methods to be acquired, then there is no problem if they introduce equipments that only bears distinct advantage in strict situations (such as agony resistance).

Saying that one should be content on having exotics because ascended isn’t necessary is like stopping at level 98 in other MMOs when the max level is 99.

No offense, but in one game I stopped at 4500 when the max level was 9999. It just wasn’t worth the grind and the power difference was much easier to make up in other methods.

Although it doesn’t affect you as you are ok with it, technically, you’ve merely decided to settle [quit] at a certain point because not finishing the game as originally intended by the design doesn’t bother you. Like deciding to stop reading a book or watching a series halfway through because you have an idea on how it’s gonna end anyway.

I agree that ascended stats should have been removed. Just stick with agony resistance. Or make ascended equipments acquirable via all the methods available for the rest of the tiers [from masterwork to exotic].

Yeah ANet please don’t give us another account-bound minipet that cannot be thrown in the forge. I have 5-mini Jenna’s that I would like to put 4 of them into the forge… but nope, I can either keep 5 of them or delete 4 of them… Bit annoying.

From a non-player of GW1, how do you think “Guild Wars” would sound? People always say “lore this, lore that” in defense of the title, but Anet should know what the title implies to people who are entirely foreign to the game. It denotes wars among guilds, and it is totally understandable that people are upset by the lack of competitive guild activities which the title ironically seems to suggest.

Saying it is from “lore” sounds more like a rationalization to me.

It’s not that I want less content, I just want them to be very polished. Right now I think wvw matchup is bugged, and the cloth aqua breather is still bugged for human females. I feel like they aren’t taking their priorities right at the moment.. I know people will disagree, but for me, I’d rather have them improve and fix what we already have than introduce new ones.

How about they just give 800 gems to those who purchased the original skin regardless of whether they’ll like the new skin or not since it isn’t the skin they really bought? Would that make you happy?

I was gonna ask the same thing. I was only doing fractals recently for the achievement, but even after the “improvements” I don’t see any point in doing it after getting the ring/backpiece.

And so I wonder even more, why is Agony Resistance infusion SO kittening expensive?!

Oh no I had so much fun in wvw with Urge. Winning or losing is inconsequential to me, as I’ve said, I just wanted to have good fights during my primetime. In my previous post I’m actually referring about the gap between JQ/BG and SoR and how it’ll be fun to have SoR get some help in terms of coverage to balance things out a bit such as the SBI/JQ/SOS fights back then.. I’d actually want my friends to transfer to BG too but we don’t have enough gold yet. XD

You make it sound like farming is a bad thing. For all we know, key farmers are doing so because it’s the only thing left they enjoy in the game. How would you feel if the last aspect of the game that you like gets removed for no valid justification? Anet already stated that it is acceptable after all.

Nobody enjoys key farming, it’s a 10~15 minute loop people repeat N times for a chance to get tickets so they can trade them for expensive skins to sell them on the market for gold.

You do not speak for everyone. A person who really is only invested in making gold will find key farming one of the more inefficient methods of generating income.

I think the problem is the method of acquiring it that’s problematic, not the price. It isn’t very friendly to new players. Unless they have tremendous luck, they won’t be able to buy it if they’ve just started. Ever.

But it wasn’t fun and funny for me. :/ It was tacky. I hope it draws negative attention to the game so Anet will finally listen to whatever players they will have left want come the new games.

I would be happy if they just release the Black Wings from the Raiment of the Lich outfit as a separate backpiece.

Because I seem to be getting more disconnects and client crashes post-patch. And if I do log back in, I’m either in an overflow without any ongoing event, or simply just missed the whole thing altogether and thus wasted 45 minutes. So what I do now is simply do 1 portal event for a tag in getting the achievement and go afk on an isolated area on the map, waiting for the entire thing to finish.

Working as intended.

Is this what I have to do until I have all the achievements? That’s 13 maps.

BG still lacks some major coverage that’s for sure. I agree that JQ is still the one to beat, regardless of whether BG takes the lead this week or not. Euro primetime for example is practically just a guild or two from BG going overtime.

Still, I’m glad I transferred to BG. I haven’t had this much fun in SEA/Oceanic primetime in a while.. Also, despite probably going out on a limb; I’d say that Urge is most likely the top pinoy wvw guild in any server so far.. Glad to have joined you guys.

I can make the argument pretty simple. The economy has become the 800 pound Gorilla in the game. Because it appears the economy is affecting the developers judgement.

Obviously the “No grind” sales pitch was misleading. To say Ascended Gear was created because we obtained Exotics too quickly, means they always intended for us to be chasing a level of gear. Not spending the majority of our time experiencing content and story.

I don’t see how you can draw this conclusion. Making one thing too easy doesn’t mean that anything requires the majority of our time. In fact, Ascended gear, in and of itself, doesn’t require all that much time…it’s an encouragement to play different parts of the game.

No, Dailies are an “encouragement” to play different parts of the game. Adding in fun new rewards would be another way to encourage playing different parts. Making the game itself more fun would be the best way to encourage playing it.

What ANet has done is set up a system that extorts us into playing very specific parts of the game in very specific, grindy ways if we want to maintain a competitive stat total. Sure, you don’t HAVE to grind champions all day and then go into crafting, but then you’ll fall behind other players who are willing to put in the time.

A core tenant, perhaps THE core tenant, of GW1 (and supposedly GW2) was that playing more shouldn’t give you a statistical advantage over your fellow players. There would be a stat baseline everyone could reach fairly easily, and then all the rewards after that would be purely cosmetic. Want to dump a bajillion hours into the game? Here, shoot for a Legendary weapon or two, but you’re still going to have to fight on the same playing field as Joe Casual.

Ascended gear will cause people to fall behind, in some cases rather significantly. This wouldn’t be such a big deal except it’s explicitly not supposed to happen in GW2. It’s a betrayal of core principles, and I think it’s clear that many of us find that disturbing and unacceptable.

This.. I really feel betrayed by Anet through the introduction of ‘basic’ (non-cosmetic) BiS equipment that requires a significant amount of devoted time..

I can’t even begin to imagine how much time we have to devote for ascended armors. If we are to follow the means of acquiring ascended weapons, it will take us 3 months just to fully equip 1 character

I don’t understand, why not just recruit people yourselves? Do something about it proactively, not reactively. Stop dictating what other people should or should not do because of your idealization. No one is dismissing the fact that SOS does have good coverage, and aims to further improve it, what’s so wrong with that? Heck, SOS’s overall advantage against other t1 servers aren’t that massive anyway. JQ has already proven that by defeating us.

There must be better alternative strategies than badmouthing SOS.

I dunno why people like to refer to GW2’s entire playerbase in a thread that is specifically addressed to the community. In most games I’ve played, the community (i.e. the forums, groups, reddit etc.) is aware of its identity and distinguishes itself from the general playerbase.

I’m making no argument as to the rightness or wrongness of the feature pack based on minority/majority appeal. I for one believe that Lilith generates more positive traffic towards the game via his/her forum events. My point is you have no reliable gauge in estimating every poster’s value and relying on ad populum isn’t gonna get you merit.

The armor glow totally ruins mesmer phantasms. -_- I wish I knew about this before buying it. I like the blue skin tbh, makes my character look like an avatar of dwayna.. but it totally diminishes individualization. Zodiac should be an entire race by itself.

I’ve always been in SoS and I have no intention of leaving it for any reason. Oceanics will always be here. With the patch for wvw being delayed further, I don’t even see any reason to do wvw at the moment. At least this will give us some space to focus on Guild Missions.

I personally like the desert rose, despite being just a palette swap of the fervid censer but as I’ve said on my thread, the lower right leaf part of the backpiece clips really badly. I wish they just removed that 1 leaf altogether. (Or at least move the backpiece further to the right)

How much would adding a trinity change the game though? We can go pure support/tank/DPS regardless, and imposing it would do more harm than good.

This is just selfish. Fansites like Dulfy’s that provide walkthroughs don’t ruin “mystery” because the official site already provides information about upcoming patches way before Dulfy does.

Except there wasn’t any indication of us getting this type of horizontal progression until several months after the game has been released, and even if this was the case, it just shows how premature the game is. Starting from playing beta and their teasers/trailers, we weren’t given the idea that we would be working towards time-gated content and equipment stats and NOT cosmetic as I thought this game was originally intended.

I guess I should really consider stopping from playing the game altogether UNTIL it’s really ready. I feel like I’m still playing beta.

8 polished characters? -_- It took me 6 months to get my alt to 80. It’s just that I really am not fond of exploring and doing heart quests again. I agree that there isn’t much left to do after getting all the legendaries you want (i only have 3, gonna be 4 soon but that’s the last i plan on getting), and so achievement rewards would be a good motivator (seeing as I haven’t done most of my achievements even though I’ve played since beta).

What happened to innocent until proven guilty? Or you guys just dislike people who afk in general?

Your argument relies heavily on a vague definition of a grind. Whether one enjoys it or not is irrelevant, it’s simply doing repetitive tasks for new gear, which at this point (after doing it for a while), is what the OP is tired of. Please note that we are talking about ascended, your attempt at faulty generalization is impertinent to the topic.

A momentary caution. Grind is a vaguely defined term and usually is subjective to the person at hand. What one person finds “grindy as all heck” someone else might actually enjoy, or at least not be bothered by.

Yes, we are talking about the OP’s threshold of grind. But if we’re going to quibble that someone’s definition of grind is vague when it is . . . in itself, vague and subjective, we should acknowledge that detail.

Just go back to the OP’s POV on what grinding is. The fact that grinding can be enjoyable [for other people] isn’t the problem per se but the fact that the acquisition of a new tier is requiring him to repeat content that he has done several times already and serves no bigger purpose. Providing a different definition of grinding doesn’t help in this case.

Because I do not want to even think of farming for different tiers of cloth from mobs for ascended armors. Because I no longer want to repeat content I’ve done a thousand times before for an insignificant reward.

Point accepted. I still stand by my original point here – the tier in and of itself isn’t worth the hassle and it’s better to accept it’s not worth chasing and live without.

Also, really, hoping ANet DOES add other methods of acquiring armor.

I agree. I have edited my post when you quoted me to include that I think they had the right idea when they introduced Guild Missions as a means to acquire ascended. It’s doing something new in order to get something new in return.

I also agree w/ lanfear as far as employing more (old) options/curencies such as karma in order to get ascended so that we can go back to “playing how we want” and relieve us from feeling forced to do things we do not particularly enjoy.

its griefing. i have missed 1200 by less than 100 several times. Easily would have had a few of them if not for 6-7 AFKers. They are purposely trying to ruin part of the event (Getting 1200 rescues) so they are griefing which can be reported.

Are you insane? 6-7 AFK have no effect on the event at all. You realize that there are a finite number of civilians, right? Those 6-7 could have helped at one civi spot, but so could any handful of people. They’re doing no less or more good standing around than if they were running mindlessly with the zergs.

A handful of people are not impacting your ability to get 100 rescues. The event can easily support (20) people picking their nose afk. It just means too many people are concentrating on bags and not enough people on civs.

At this point, I feel like I’m in a dollar auction (zero-sum game). To quit or not to quit, which one will minimize my losses.

The legendary weapons, being the endgame equipments, having limited stat combinations is a really poor idea. We should be able to transmute it and retain any options we’d normally have if we didn’t. Transmuting shouldn’t reduce an item’s value.

As for other items, ascended backpieces can be transmuted and still be infused, so there.

Who died and made you Captain of the Lionguard? The objective of the event, as with everything else in the game, is to have fun. People apparently are having fun farming bags. Deal with it.

No. People who were doing map completion had just as much right to be there. You, as a player, have zero right to determine who should or shouldn’t be there. That decision is entirely up to Anet.

They are releasing them bit by bit as well, I now have like 4 sets of ascended trinkets, at 1st I thought I could barely get a set before they release new types of ascended, Im guessing ill have several weapon sets before they release the the ascended armor. And never have I felt a difference when playing on an alt which doesnt have any ascended trinkets, the stat boost is barely, if at all noticable.

I got some great advice for everyone that thinks level 10 is the new level 1!

Right now, go and create a new character for every race, and pay attention to each intro, and every aspect of each individual races chapter 1… then after your done with that, imagine all that content removed until your level 10. Imagine the devs going into each story arc and screwing all that immersion and effort that they put in at release, and destroying that until level 10.

Imagine yourself as a new person loading in the game for the first time. You see a load screen, and bam! your in the middle of a field. No intro, no objective of doing a kitten thing until level 10.
