Racials are very niche skills and are generally not used at all. The only racial skill I can think of that I use on occasion is the norn Snow Leopard elite transformation, which includes a stealth skill. It’s very niche though and you can supplement it with harpy feather consumables if you need the stealth.

I personally liked the meta during summer 2014 the most (when hambow/bunker guard were meta). There was a lot more to gain from actively reacting to things and less of this passive nonsense. Only things that needed to change were turrets (can receive condi and crits) and a slight reduction on fire/air sigils (which we’ve had since then).

When I play thief, I often use Shadow Trap to guard home. Just because no one is visibly guarding it doesn’t mean that I am not behind you in stealth with 10 stacks of might + fury, despite just stomping your friend at mid.

2. MMR needs re-evaluation, it adjusts way to drastically based on 2 losses or 2 victories in a row. This leads to streaks that are extremely unhealthy.
I suggest you actually research Glicko-2 system before making these wild assumptions. If someone has had a stable MMR for a long period of time, they will gain a low rating deviation and sudden win/loss streaks will have extremely small impact on actual MMR. Large changes in MMR tend only to occur for new players or for players who have been inactive for a long period of time (unless you somehow lose 100 consecutive games or something ridiculous like that).
3. Match contribution needs to be evaluated and reworked so that you can gain pips based on contribution.
This is impossible to calculate. How can a system possibly know that a single player has been leading two enemy players on a wild goose chase around the map for half the game? Any system would see this is zero contribution unless you used distance traveled or something, but then you could just randomly run around the map to gain contribution. This is only one example of why contribution doesn’t work.

No difference, it still takes players away from other pvp modes, thus impacting match quality.

On Friday I lowered the inflated MMR parties receive from +5% per member to +2% per member. I believe the initial value of +5% was too high, and we were aiming to overshoot due to the bad perception of solo vs pre-made. The drop to 2% was based on data from the beta ladder.
Could that may be what you noticed this weekend?
I think the issue with inflated MMR is once you reach a certain tier of players, they will be experienced enough with team rotations that they can automatically respond to what their teammates are doing even without the use of voice communication.
Obviously there is still an advantage with being premade and having access to this, but the gap seems to become increasingly smaller at increasingly higher levels of play. At lower levels of play, premade teams have a larger advantage since pugs have a habit of over committing to certain points.
For example, I was soloq’ing on my mesmer the other day and I pushed far at the start with a pug thief. We both knew when to disengage and actually disengaged at practically the same time and moved into the mid point to burst down a target. Similar things happened throughout the match.
Perhaps with this taken into account, inflation should be something along the lines of a combination of both a percentage of MMR as well as a constant number?

I don’t know where you’re getting this idea from, I was away for maybe 1 min 20s which is only 10% of the match time, is 90% ‘little to no contribution’?
I also helped the team get 2 caps and a neut within the first 3 mins of the game.

Change the daily to Daily [insert class here] Killer rather than Player. That way you still have a daily that people have to go out of their way to get, but doesn’t incur the issue of people walking into ranked arenas on a class they don’t play.

It’s only powerful in 1v1 downed fights. In practically every other situation, someone can just stomp them once with stability or twice without stability before they even get a chance to pet res, nowhere near as useful as an engineer that can interrupt twice or a thief that can evade a stomp twice.

Guardian is the best bunker class.
Both mobile and immobile on point like turret.
I disagree. Guardian is the best team bunker due to it’s combination of support and survivability, but it isn’t by any means the best solo bunker because it is easily killed on point by a good condi engi or shatter mesmer. For solo bunkering you need something that can return pressure to force your opponent to occasionally play defensively, such as a d/d or staff ele.

The fact is pretty simple: Can a single character defeat in less than 3 seconds another single character? If the answer is yes, there’s something wrong with that character’s build that is to be fixed.
This is a pointless way to go about – you can make a full offensive d/d signet thief that can kill another zerker in 1 second but can do nothing useful for 30s. This build is by no means ‘broken’ or we’d see it more often.
Mesmer on the other hand has their main burst every 11 seconds and can still be useful in between.

Had a quick look over some of your first match.
The first and largest issue here is lack of rotation. If your team is all at the same point and you kill someone, you need to consider what the player respawning is going to do next. If they are smart, they won’t continue to feed into the same fight and will instead look to grab your home node instead.
Remember that a player respawns in their base 15 seconds after they are finished. As a general rule, you want to be within sight of the route from their base to your home node (in this case the beach area on Forest) for when they respawn. This is as simple as counting to 15 when an enemy player is finished and proceeding to turn your camera so that you can see the beach area and run to your home node if you see someone on it.
If the player that was finished is a highly mobile class (e.g. thief), it may be wiser to assume that they will go for your home node on respawn and be prepared to defend your home node when they respawn. The more mobile the class that was finished is, the closer to your home node you want to be when they respawn.
Your team lost the first match despite winning most of the fights mostly due to this lack of rotation.

What’s the most ridiculous reasons you’ve had for being called a noob (from either team)?
From the enemy team:
Using heartseeker+steal to finish someone off behind a wall (“omg stealth noob”, continuted to whisper me about how stealth is OP even though I didn’t use stealth)
Using trebuchet for half the match (they didn’t dodge a single shot)
From my own team:
Defending my decision not to lord rush 2 minutes into the game after losing the initial team fight (lol we need more score noob)
Stealing an enemy NPC and killing the person who attacked it, then going down from conditions (omg noob you died to npc)
Saying to regroup on home rather than suiciding 1v3 mid (omg noobs why are you all at home and I’m the only one mid)
Dying before a match starts (I was just running around)
Jumping around in the base before match starts (people who jump are always noobs)

The change on Deception is nice to have but won’t change much.
If you’re 1v1ing a thief and you go down but the thief is 10% hp, he can’t stealth stomp you anymore, which buys you time to kill him with illusionary rogue, which will also lead to possibly winning downed fight.

I watched this after the tournament, it just goes to show how much of the big plays the casters miss. Most of the things they say are obvious (this guy is being killed/ressed by this guy) but miss all the portal plays and unconventional rotations.
I’m not surprised that Helseth was angry about the casters overracting to Honey placing down 2 CCs (which even the noobiest of staff eles would have done) and completely missed the more important portal play.

In soloq, I’ve noticed that 9 times out of 10, the team with the most warriors will win. Their ability to tank, do strong damage, and lay down so much cc all at once makes them essential to any successful team. They simply become an anchor for a team to play around. If your team doesn’t have one, you are at a severe disadvantage.

I just lost a point because someone rallied off me spiking his teammate. I downed both a warrior and ranger, spiked the warrior, and the ranger rallied. I then died.
This isn’t the first time this has happened. It’s been going on for months. I’ve reported it before.
This is an enormous, game-breaking bug, so I have no idea how it’s lasted for so long. Please fix.
I have never experienced this “bug” in my entire GW2 gaming career. You realise that there are plenty of insta res skills right?

Except nobody uses illusion builds in pvp because they are simply not effective in anything except low-level play. First off, illusions are killed so easily in team fights. Second of all, you need to boon stripping of a shatter mesmer to win in any match-up (1v1 – 5v5) in the current boon-based meta. If you’re getting top scores with an illusion mesmer, then chances are you’re simply not playing against good players (no offence).
Now if we’re talking shatter mesmers, which is the most viable mesmer build in pvp currently, these are harder to learn than rangers because you have to prepare your burst as well as get it to hit. Any half-decent player knows how to dodge a shatter, so you have to either count dodges or shatter when they don’t expect it. If you miss a shatter, it’s a massive blow to your dps.
As for high level play, yes it’s harder to be effective on a ranger than it is on a mesmer, but I get the impression that we’re talking more about the time/effort required to learn the build in the first place.

Why do we still have teams like Syn who register weekly for AG when they are good enough to compete in ESL? Worst yet, the staff of AG knows that these teams enter their tournaments but yet does nothing to disallow their entry. Syn for example could easily make it to second round ESL or further.
Erm no. I don’t mean to BM, but Syn lost to my 24 hour old pug team (with a sub 5 mins before AG who turned out to be a perma downstate necro) last week, the same pug team got knocked out in round 1 of the ESL monthly 2 days later.

You can Mind Wrack 6 times in a row using Continuum Shift, Mimic and Signet of Illusions (you can use all shatters 6 times in a row actually…). Since Illusionary Persona is now baseline, all shatters will trigger on your character so you don’t even need any clone.
Overall you can use Continuum Shift and Mimic to use any utility skill 4 times, every 90s.how is this not op

This has nothing to do with an amulet being OP.
It’s common for ANY tanky amulet (amulets with a certain number of defensive stats) to be banned in duels because they result in duels that take forever, resulting in less people being able to duel.

Balance was possibly at its best just before the HoT release.
The most overpowered things had been adjusted to a reasonable level:
Shoutbow had its healing reduced such that it had to run a tankier amulet to have the same support as before.
Engi had its incendiary powder moved from explosions to firearms, which was a massive change for cele engi.
D/D ele had nerfs to the fire line, all it needed from here was a small nerf to the sustain.
Every class had a viable build:
Warrior had shoutbow
Guardian had the burn build, bunker guardian was also viable with a few buffs
Engi had cele rifle and even cele p/p
Thief had d/p – only thing needed here was an acrobatics rework to make s/d viable again
Ranger had the power survival spec with beastmaster
Mesmer had PU shatter
Elementalist had celestial d/d, d/f and staff
Necro had celestial signet
Then HoT came and the balance is just crazy in both season 1 and season 2 – there’s is also a significant increase in passive effects, which dumbs down combat.
Fixing this is easy, as the only things that need balancing are the new things that came with HoT – i.e. the elite specs, new utilities and new weapon skills. Everything else is just minor tweaks.
Here’s the thing – it doesn’t even matter if every elite spec gets overnerfed because every class had a viable core spec before HoT was released. Elite specs were advertised as not being a pure upgrade from core specs, but rather introducing an alternative way to play the class – can we please stick to this idea?

I’m seriously fed up of getting players who clearly have no idea what they are doing, it’s not fun for either team.
Divide MMR into two tiers – players who queue will not be put in a team with players in the opposing tier. This will be a lot more fun for everyone.

In response to a post that was made recently about how a match result can be decided in the first 3 minutes.
No matter how bad your pugs seem in the first 3 minutes, you can never judge the ending from the first 3 minutes unless you let it.
In this video of a late-night duo queue, the score was 131-32 against us, they had a strong double cap + neut. The start was a complete mess, with our shoutbow deciding that our thief needed help killing a treb, me eating 3 treb shots due to well-timed/lucky immobilises and our necro being a typical far-point hero and dying to their necro 1v1.
We could have easily let this get to us and stopped playing seriously, but we kept going and turned the game completely around and won the game 500-333.
Please don’t comment on my plays, I don’t pretend to be pro and it’s not the point of this video.
