I personally love newbies and find them adorable.
Omg that picture makes me love newbies. YAY <3
I really don’t think NCsoft has anything to do with this.
I fully agree. I believe it’s ArenaNet’s move this time. This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen related to Guild Wars 2, and clearly a step in the wrong direction. They want us to be forced to grind even more for small things, or ultimately want to skyrocket gem prices for every item in GemStore.
I’m so furious right now that I’ll just leave this thread, and before I’m tagged for ranting: do as others already suggested, undo this change and leave it as it was before. Thank you.
What is most surprising in GW2 is that you have a deep feeling that things CAN be done, the engine seems to be very flexible for creation; and yeah, I loved the wings for elementalists!
I posted another suggestion regarding staffs for elementalists, class-specific makes you feel unique in dedicating time for your class. I love it.
Here’s my idea for a quest to obtain a precursor, it’s a long-term idea but it’s not 1-year since it’s just a part of the process to attain a legendary.
1st: There would be two types of [Gift of Fortune], [Gift of Mastery], and Gift of [Weapon], the first type would be just as it is now, the other would have a glow effect on the icon, maybe a display message “This artifact is illuminated.”, I’ll explain why this is necessary.
2nd: I thought about this place in kodan territory, it would be The Stone of Silent Voice, the stone holds three locks that fit three special “keys”, the gifts would be these keys: Gift of Fortune, Gift of Mastery and a gift to a specific precursor (Dusk, Dawn, The Lover, etc). Putting the three gifts would give you a long-term buff: Infinite Enlightenment. When you gain this buff, you will be enlightened and new things will be available for you, the gifts will now lose the extra glow they came with, this prevents one from gaining this buff over and over effectively farming precursors nonstop.
3rd: This is the farming part, and also the effective quest part. There will be NPCs in each map the dragons spawn: Servants of Light. These NPCs will only be visible by those who have the Infinite Enlightenment buff and only when the dragon is about to spawn (they’ll stay there for 15min. before the dragon lands, then disappear), they’ll grant the players the Inspired Soul buff, this buff allows the players to receive 1-2 (random chance) [Crystallized Dragon Essence] but they’ll only receive these tokens if they defeat the dragon with the buff activated. To spice things a little bit, if you’re downed you lose the buff and, therefore, won’t have any chances to get the tokens. You will be required to have 250 [Crystallized Dragon Essences] later on.
4th: Shadow Behemoth will now hold a mysterious portal upon its death, a mystical floating stone door-like portal with glyphic writings in it that will lead ONLY enlightened players to the: Maze of Chaos. I don’t know exactly how this could be scaled for solo players, or parties, but this would be a labyrinth with confusing doors that leads you ahead, each door will progress you further or push you back and they’ll have a veteran inside each room guarding the exit. At the end of this labyrinth you will find the Priestess of Light, she’ll be exchanging the hard-earned [Crystallized Dragon Essences] for one of her magical weapons (precursors) and, unlike dropped ones, these will be acc-bound. The portal to the Maze of Chaos could also require a map-wide collection dynamic event.
Notes:
- The Infinite Enlightenment is triggered upon using your three gifts in the locks on The Stone of Silent Voice;
- Each precursor would cost 250 [Crystallized Dragon Essences];
- As stated before, there would be two different gifts of each one to separate illuminated ones from ordinary ones, the illuminated would trigger the buff on a player so that they’ll be able to quest for the precursor. The illumination would disappear from the gifts to ensure the player won’t be able to farm a lot of precursors for free, it’s intended to be a 1-time long-term buff;
- The Infinite Enlightenment buff would disappear upon leaving the Maze of Chaos.
I know they’ll have a scavenger hunt, but it doesn’t hurt to suggest something using what the game has to offer. :P

SAB Glider. Good joke. You know SAB is dead right?
Don’t you say that!
Agree with you, OP. Now it’s hella ugly, just put acc rewards at the top please. <.<
Happy Holidays Chris and Gaile! Your replies to this thread really made me smile and looking forward to see His Majesty Oswald Thorn again!
Why did the Seer chase after the Eidolon?
I feel sorry for you, he did not bite the bait.
Experiences are just experiences, it only proves what we already know – RNG is RNG –, we’re mostly arguing how that’s a broken mechanics for a single item that may represent 50% of the legendary and the nonstop rising prices.
(edited by Valento.9852)
I want to disable legendaries. Oh, and tags, lots of them commander tags on the map.
I love the name, the concept, the drones, how the hammer is huge when wielded by an asura, etc! Everything! Deliver it, ANet.
While we’re at it I also have a related question: will I have to choose between laurel and other things, or are they still rewarded like before? In the current system we gain laurels AND other stuff as well, will I have to choose between them?
Yikes, there are a lot of ignorant statements in this thread. I’m hoping that Karl doesn’t take suggestions from people who don’t understand the meta across all three major game modes.
Well that’s so vague as to be utterly meaningless.
Agreed. Sometimes devs just need random ideas, sometimes we hit the spot, sometimes we don’t… at least it’s some sort of feedback. Better than none.
Just put the fractal level into the agony damage algorithm, it’s the most fair thing to do.
One thing to note is that water fields sometimes disrupt fire fields, and being able to healing on a constant basis without screwing fire field blasting is sure a plus.
Welcome to post-2000. We’re in 2014, and this is an *M*MORPG.
Check attachment! Time to save up those 800gems, eh?
Coolest part is that it behaves like Cultural, changing depending on the race!
Another thought that struck me is: will we be seeing a marriage system some day? Who knows? Table very large (Johanson, Colin).
(edited by Valento.9852)
People seem mad because we will have an alternative way of obtaining precursors geez… lol
Anything above 200g is simply unacceptable if this tab is to exist, stop overpricing 1/4 of the legendary thanks.
Yo, I bought a tag to mislead people to fall off edges in EotM. Don’t judge me!
Can we have a “Guild Wars 1 Elementalist” spec? I loved the fire/air viability, and dealing real damage with “ice”, coupled with control. #NerfIceEle
Lol what? I was simply suggesting, calm the kitten down. Geez…
…
Either way, I’m expecting a nerf to the drop rate within a few hours.
And add “stealthy” to it.
I loved this rework! Please, add BL Keys to monthly reward table, don’t be mean. :P
Add Mystic Coins as rewards. Each tier (bronze/silver/gold) = 1 Mystic Coin, and cap each reward once per account a day. You’d see a LOT of people playing them to death.
(edited by Valento.9852)
@atheria, I’ve read some loose reports about that. It seems it’s NCSoft servers freaking out some days.
Still, I’d like to see how testing happens behind the scenes.
Everyone saw that coming, soon there will be 80% gemstore oriented stuff in the game, and we reach Gemstore Wars 2. #gg
@Edit
Just came back to say: pathetic. #gg²

Tired of “Tired of Outfits” thread showing up every update.
Heart of Thorns will bring armor sets.
Tired of “Heart of Thorns will do this, Heart of Thorns will do that” replies.
Two ideas of yours strike me as good ones for future combat changes:
- Polarized debuffs: Asura fractal’s final boss has a golem that uses this attack. He puts positive and negative charges randomly in every player, if different charges are close you start losing HP little by little therefore avoiding player stacking (unfortunately it just plays a little role and the champion can be easily killed).
- Orbitting around players instead of meleeing them: Only possible if LoS is available, we can trick mobs but they can’t trick us. If I use Arcane Wave (big area of effect) I can hit mobs on the other side of the wall, but if the boss has such skill they obey LoS instead of “radius of sight”, if they don’t follow the stack (for certain defeat) they can’t hit us.
We could have a new radius/distance mechanics, call it “Area Awareness” in which the game checks if LoS isn’t possible for this range-based boss for a short period (4sec), if so it gains a special shield “Angered” or something of the like, then goes melee and receives much less damage (half?). Or magically teleports the entire party to random (or pre-set) locations evenly spread out whenever LoS isn’t possible. Or curse them with a dangerous DoT that increases damage the farther they are.
Just throwing random ideas…

I had no idea what this thread would contain when I clicked it.
I’m having fun with your ideas. The “thick rubber waders” would be something I’d pay real gems for, as an April Fools Day outfit. Also, I want the Kitten, the Kitten Kitten, and the Zookeeper.
Hey, Valento, I’m flattered, but you have to know I’m way ahead of #6! Oh, and TexZero, you forgot the testing cycle.
I’m overwhelmed! How dare you invalidate my rune?? It took me hours of deep thinking.
Just wanted to add my 2 cents or rather.. keep them. First you could buy some gems to buy a cool outfit and then spend whatever was left on gold. Which made getting the outfit even more worthwhile. Now you would be stuck sitting on gems forever. And if you wanted to trade gold for gems, you could just do some calculations and get exactly the amount you need.
Hope Anet will add the option to fill in a custom amount of gold/gems to trade.
Add?? You mean change back! It is just how it was and how it should be. This change doesn’t make sense, it’s been reproved in my community, my guild, and several alliances.
Most skills on eles are situational, you don’t really have to switch attunements that frequently (specially for staff builds). S/D on the other hand can really hurt your brains depending on dungeon group and challenge. While I’m using staff I usually sit on fire attunement for almost all the fight, and switch if I need to slow down enemies, or knock ’em back, etc.
Eles cannot get stealth; that would be unbalanced, regardless of what other two specs you get. Portal doesn’t make sense. Slow doesn’t quite fit the class. So, no, you won’t get any of those, you will get silly overloads.
we just cleared the temple on elonasreach!
Second this, Elona’s Reach (DE) has the vendor up as of now, I’ll be around to defend it as long as the server transfer is unable to me.
You can’t use two identical items which are unique. The idea behind this is to spread people across the maps, and it is working as intended.
I can’t believe they aren’t adding MF recipes to infuse amulets… kitten
I fully support largos as a playable race, they’re awesome, and more b@d@ss than charr.
Wow, really? That’s good news! Do you have a link where they said that? Seems like I’ve missed it…
Sure: link
It’s undeniable the acquisition is pathetic by now.
This is a well-earned vacation. From GW2’s starting year until now they’ve shown an incredible ability to come up with new systems, re-work stuff as needed, and deliver a reasonable amount of content in short periods. I still recommend GW2 for all of my friends, and I’m still fond of the idea that ArenaNet has really changed how companies should perceive MMOs in general.
So yeah, I rant regularly but let them enjoy their free time.
I really wanted these celestial minis because they were present in GW1… too bad the acquisition is so stressful (RNG behind money$).
The only thing I disagree is precursor, of course the other gifts will cost more than the precursor itself, but you can manage to get the components by yourself little by little having a sense of progression.
Precursor is just a stacked amount of gold nobody is wishing to pay, 500g for a precursor? No thanks, I’ll pass. For me, this is the only thing that needs to be fixed, making it more progressively attainable, not a huge brick wall.
