I don’t like them outside SAB tbh. Hope that’s not the case, SAB skins should be acquired… inside SAB!
Hi!
I’d like to suggest a small improvement to the game regarding map reward bonuses. For Central Tyria it’s perhaps easier to see when you received an item from Map Reward Bonus, but the same isn’t true for lvl80 or, specially, HoT maps going forward. This is even more noticeable when the Reward Bonus rotation includes a certain map currency (such as Unbound Magic, or Geodes).
My suggestion is that, when you score the points needed for a certain tier of Map Reward Bonus the text and border around the item both get a little highlight so you see that you’ve struck the tier and received the item. This is specially useful to keep track of Reward Bonus progression and to separate normal loot from Bonus loot.
I’ve attached a small example in a map that this happens constantly and I never know where the Unbound Magic is coming from.
Thanks for reading!
This is a strong memory for me. I don’t recall who captured it, but I was thrilled when the person shared it! I didn’t have my room setup like that, but inside it felt pretty much the same. I remembered a video that lovely Ree Soesbee, and all the devs looked zombie-like anxious for GW2’s release!
Anyone else has good memories from before/right after launch?
I crafted The Bifrost and Kraitkin, dropped Venom and bought The Legend, it’s all about RNG. Though I’m not even attempting anymore unless I get precursor beforehand, the feeling of waiting on precursor to finish a legendary is a huge letdown.
One idea would be a Attunement Empower button.
- Attunement Empower (40s): Charges your currently attuned element boosting damage and adding a unstable phenomena around yourself. (radius: 360)
- Volcano (10s): Due to fire outburst, you’re summoning strong lava pools around. Unstable ground may explode, launching foes away.
- Blizzard (10s): Due to icy outburst, you’re summoning chilling whirlwinds. Unstable blizzard may cause whirlwinds to blind foes.
- High Voltage (10s): Due to a high voltage outburst, you summon lightning strikes around causing vulnerability. Unstable lightning storm may apply an Electrical Discharge to foes.
- Electrical Discharge (5s): You’re charged and damaging nearby allies.
- Magnetism (10s): Due to earth instability, you summon magnetic fields around which pull enemies. Unstable magnetism may knockdown enemies.
There, a geomancer.

This thread must be a joke. Central Tyria and most events until HoT was made to appeal to the casual gamer. HoT maps can even be zerged like good ol’ maps for mindless farming. Not sure why are you complaining, really.
I’ll just get the meta and that’s all… I’m only interested in lore at this point, marionette’s a laggy zergball despite how “epic” it may look but I must confess that ArenaNet is slowly getting there when it comes to open world real challenges (at least the zergs are a bit more well-split).
Yep! All those cool glittery effects and animations are a nightmare of video spam at these “zerg” events. Great with 5 participants or less, really terrible in a zerg. Anet has a problem that the use all that crap to telegraph “1-shots” so you can “dodge”. The basic game mechanic is not really suited for large zergs…. They did a fair job with the tower fights, and the marionette thing works if you basically just push the “1” button, but the worms are an unplayable mess just like Teq. Spoon
These NEW telegraph marks on the floor reminds me ALOT of Wildstar telegraphs. #justsaying
Biggest problem is that, differently from Nightfury, this achievement will be tagged as historical and we won’t be able to complete it.
I still like Shatterer better, I’m just disappointed his fight is so easy.
I’ve gone sick of farming. It is not fun. Tried switching maps (Dry Top, SW) but no luck. I’m not even interested in participating in beta anymore. Only regret is that I felt like I lost my time the entire weekend.
You may call me crazy but Quip doesn’t annoy me as much as The Dreamer… that sound is just… it would be much nicer if we had not-so-loud horse footsteps instead.
Second Post :P
Something to fill in those 40 minutes of setup time before Teq. And this is fun because it has players dividing up to compete against each other en masse to benefit themselves – Free the Sylvari/Charr/Asura/Human/Norn captives so they can join the fight. ONLY one racial group can be freed for the battle! Doing so seals the other four groups off behind impenetrable barriers. The race that frees their captives gets a bonus during the fight:“Song of the Sylvari” All Sylvari are at minimum 25% movement for the duration.
Might of the Norn All Norn have 10% weapon skill recharge rate reduction
Blessing of Dwayna All Humans have 40% faster healing skill recharge
Unity in Battle All Charr deal +10% damage with skill slot 1
*Supercharged Intellect" All asuran Elites recharge 5% faster.Though I’m no programmer and this may be seriously tricky to implement. Maybe someone will get creative ideas off the post anyways.
*Either divide these pursuits by race or profession. I chose race, else you’re going to get theme of everyone showing up as elementalist (for example) – while race is more likely to bring out a variety of professions since there is no standard race+profession combo.
I think affecting the skills directly in such a way doesn’t quite “fit” the battle, but there’s something cool out of it… 3 orders – 3 buffs.
Vigil’s Might: +3%/6%/10% direct damage against the branded, 5% chance to gain 5sec fury upon being hit by branded;
Whisper’s Technique: +3%/6%/10% defense against the branded attacks, 5% chance to gain 5sec protection upon being hit by branded;
Priory’s Wisdom: +3%/6%/10% damage-over-time against the branded, 5% chance to gain 5sec retaliation upon being hit by branded.
The first bonus depends on the stack (max 3), the second only comes into play if you have all 3 stacks. Stacking 3x should be hard, and challenging, and maybe something “off-battle” to spread the focus and avoid spamming the dragon but becoming more necessary as the fight scales.
@Edit
Numbers are only examples, it needs balancing, but the idea is there. :P

This is the most f**** awesome addition!! I’m about to wet my pants!
I was at first, now my hype has been totally smashed as they continued releasing information but at the cost of not adding nothing new to the live game. I mean events, and content that you actually play. There’s been none. It’s like “oh look, we’re doing an xpac that’s all about mechanics and laying the groundwork, etc, and because of that no new content for ya, sorry everyone is too busy”.
Anet devs stated they don’t want to increase the level cap ever. Anet devs have also said legendaries will always be the best stat item. They have also said that asceneded equipment is the best statistical gear there will ever be.
This.
The most laughable patch notes is this “Increased the drop rate of Black Lion Chests and Black Lion Chest Keys throughout the world.”. What is it now? 0,00000000002% instead of 0,00000000001%?
While you’re at it, please fix this same stuttering effect that occurs when watching an in-game cutscene from a third person perspective. The character also stutters up and down. Good time to fix everything as a whole! o>
Oh God! These changes are sweet! I’ll read more carefully and give my feedback soon.
Feedback:
Overloads are overall much much better, I thought you’d screw Water by normalizing to 4sec but then you put the first pulse when it starts channeling (clever!). Overload Air looks yummy aswell. I have a question:
- For Overload Fire, how different will the burning applications be? I was almost setting up a condi. build, but I don’t know how effective it will be. The damage part is understandable because it is too offensive, but it should still allow for good condi. synergy.
Warhorn changes are nice, Dust Storm now serves as an addon for condi. builds as well depending on how effective the bleeding application is. I’m a bit worried about Heat Sync. It shouldn’t just spread might as it is already too much easy to stack might, if you guys are afraid of AoE Armor of Earth, I suggest you whitelist what boons the ele can pass. You should allow, besides might, at least: protection and swiftness (or fury?). They’re too much required for survivability and can turn the tide in a PvP match, or a hard boss encounter. Just my 2¢.
Rebound can now be slotted because it provides a boon for an uncommon scenario, I just hope such scenario exists outside of PvP (hint hint raids).
About the traits:
- Imbued Melodies now officially allows for a great support option rivalling D/D in a sense (for PvP), specially the Sand Squall part (protection is a bless y’know). Element Bastion looks like it can now make a difference (the healing was too low, been testing and the coefficient seemed way too low), and it’s a possibility for tempest healers (yay for healers).
- Speedy Conduit… I don’t mean to sound harsh, but I just wanted to know why it gives swiftness. I know, it fits the name, but why does such a minor exist in the first place? Why would someone need this to be fast while overloading when eles have so much access to swiftness? And Harmonious Conduit isn’t paying off, unless it’s more than one stack of stability. Remember we will be giving up on Tempestuous Aria which can be huge in open field fights (ANY game mode: WvW, some PvE areas, and sPvP, because AoE weakness and might).
- Lucid Singularity and Unstable Conduit still too meh. I don’t think someone will get them, specially Unstable Conduit.
I very much welcome all the changes as a whole, and I hope some of my questions can be answered. If not, well, at least it’s some sort of feedback! Thank you so much for not forgetting about us, Karl.

I have this strong belief that ArenaNet is trying to force down our throats an attempt to fix “feeling rewarded” in the game, but point is: it’s not about the amount, but quality and nice-paced rewards. Bioluminescence is a very nice example, but I wish it required more pewpew and less grinding. It’s a starting point nonetheless.
Items in GW2 are either GemStore-related (free of RNG) or ridiculous RNG for doing silly things such as open a bag and good luck with lottery.
The prices are pretty high for my county’s standards, so I ’ll need sometime till I ’ll be able to purchase the Standard edition, but happy for you guys!
Same here (around 3.2x), but I expect to buy at least standard.
I prefer options, removing influence removed that option which many people liked. If influence isn’t your thing it doesn’t mean it should be removed to only please you, consider that others liked that way it worked.
I remember a dev said once that the outfit model is altogether and they can’t separate meshes, the head is the only exception as it’s separate.
which is nonsense, because before the wardrobe update many of these current outfits were in sections.
such as Mad King’s Boots
Mad King’s Coat
Mad King’s Gloves
Mad King’kittenhere is the old town clothes UI for the Fancy Winter Outfit showing nice separate parts complete with their own icons:
Maybe they’re just lazy to make separate parts because they have to spend more time testing. Even if outfits still clip a lot. lol
Not taking the game down for maintenance, or updates (in which the game WARNS and WAITS a reasonable time before going down) are the top winners. Indeed, some master wizardry, but works f**** awesome, and they’re taking this further with new patching improvements (you can play while downloading, prioritizing what you want to download first).
Wow, how ragey. It’s clearly obvious that this isn’t intended.
oh no, let them crash, the joy of ppl whining about a price drop is like music through my ears.
the only ones who worry about a price drop are the ones who want to sell them, the ones who want to buy them are only seeing this as good news.
Actually, any player who wants to craft their legendaries in a more exciting and fun way see this as good news. Amassing gold is the ultimate boring stuff to acquire a precursor.
Please sell the existing super adventure box in Trading Post and accessible from home instance only for personal account. I will purchase it for gem
I doubt they’d sell that, and it doesn’t feel right, it’s an asura thingy! It’s well-placed in Rata Sum.
Miss SAB so much, but I take Halloween (it’s Halloween after all!). Looking forward to it, as well as changing back the skill lock by level stuff.
This is a well-earned vacation. From GW2’s starting year until now they’ve shown an incredible ability to come up with new systems, re-work stuff as needed, and deliver a reasonable amount of content in short periods. I still recommend GW2 for all of my friends, and I’m still fond of the idea that ArenaNet has really changed how companies should perceive MMOs in general.
So yeah, I rant regularly but let them enjoy their free time.
Did you just come out from under a rock for two years? If by “vacationing” you meant “quitting for a better paying dev job”, or “moving onto a different company because I’m sick of burn out” then yeah they are vacationing. In all seriousness, the OP is right, just like a multitude of OP’s before him: the egregiously long breaks between thin Living Story updates is unacceptable. It points to turmoil across all development levels, starting with upper management. But don’t take my word for it, look it up for yourself. The moderators routinely delete posts which link to this public information, so I will not.
Sorry my friend, but you’re just a plain hater who doesn’t understand how development and marketing works altogether. They can take as many breaks as they see fit, their compromise should be only to maintain servers up since you only had to pay an initial $60.00 for the game, which is worth much more than that price.
I’m starting to think that gathering people on dragon spawns is because the lack of decent rewards across the open world, this makes the players focus on dragons so they get a rare once a day; if there was other places for such rewards, of course there would be lot of people farming EVERYTHING, but not everyone like it is now.
It’s the same old reward system problem, it’s a shame, no matter how hard they try it always comes down to rewards.
Our Mist Form also increases movement speed by 66%, heck yeah! LOL
Braham is a NORN guys, take that into consideration, and the fact he was raised away from his mother.
But it’s weird he was kind of exhausted after the battle with the 2 final bosses, shouldn’t he run after a couple of ales after the fight instead?
Maybe the first batch will match which new weapon each specialization will feature.
Yeah… you just become a hopeless channeling dummy. I knew this would happen… they don’t care about stability, as it’s optional. See, it’s OPTIONAL to use our CLASS MECHANIC. Our elite – Tornado – at least isn’t channeled, and has a “turn off” button.
Dear Devs, dear Devs, thank you for your mental stability.
May the booze guide your hands through the tough times on the forums.
May the Santa norn’s hairy chest always be with you.
“May Dwayna bless you!”Put precursor hunt under my christmas tree this year. If that won’t do, then please add the following:
[Potion of Gaile]:
You sparkle.
I’d love that Potion of Gaile!
The only option for minstrel is to acquire ascended items using fractal currency, or raid currency, as they offer the ability to freely choose the armor prefix. Crafting is just out of questions, even exotic, because the price is stupid.
Actually I agree with him, if you simply compare GW2 to other MMOs nowadays, it’s unbeatable in its core design apart from a few flaws (either being huge or minor). The foundation is too much solid for it to fall apart in a near future, I only expect the best, I just hope they speed up things a bit.
Ugh
I mean, I guess it’s a neat idea, and I wouldn’t want to detract from you wanting something, but I picked it based on how it was ‘now’. It’ll be Rogue Mechanic shorts in TSW all over again (though they fixed that nicely, giving us two copies).
I’m using the staff now, and I can tell you if it glowed so much that it distracted from me getting to ‘see’ my character as I see my character now, that would be a bummer.
But, I guess if you get what you want, all is fair in love and war. I’ll have to burn a Crystal to use something else again, and burn a gold on some skin from the TP.
I believe you didn’t get me, it would glow only when casting skills… it can’t distract if it does a quick glow, also, there are a LOT OF staves without any effect in-game already.
Oh.
I thought you meant sheathed on the back.
Nevermind.
Does sound kinda fun. Extra glowy stuff while fighting is a plus.
I really like how it shrinks down small when it’s sheathed too, and then grows when you go into fighting mode. I wish the top part folded up even more, to be honest.
The reason I’m asking them to change is because when you draw the staff it pops a so beautiful yellowish glow, and it’s a shame it happens only when drawing the weapon, it doesn’t need to stay glowing strong permanently while in fight but when casting skills it would be very cool!
I for one welcome these changes! I would also love to see environmental creatures exhibiting various behaviors:
- More different predating behaviors. We have these jaguars hunting and killing nearby rabbits, same for ettins, sometimes we even see a jaguar fithing a ram, but I’d like to see another pattern such as flocks of animals invading an area for some time or until a triggered “flock” event has been finished.
- Other fauna-related event would be fight for survival! For some time an area would grow more plants that could be harvested if the player managed to finish the event, but animals would become agressive and gain boons to protect the area, like a way to fight for the food. Obviously only herbivorous animals. If they succeeded before the timer expired, their number would increase. If they failed, a champion king would spawn to protect the area. Killing the beast would reward like 3 patches of different plants to be harvested. Such event would have a 12h cooldown.
- Stampede events! Close to a river we could run into a wave of heavy animals rapidly rushing into different directions with a permanent non-removable stability and causing knockbacks as they run through players, they would also have a periodic protection boon (whenever they reach first point of location before redirecting to somewhere else, and so on). The reason would be revealed if the players managed to stay within small circles (like PvP conquest ones) for some period. Killing any of such animals would fail the event. After standing for 2min. inside each of these circles, the animals would “calm down”, and then there would be a swarm of black jaguars along with elites which have annoying stealth skills. Killing them would give the player a Peaceful buff that increases MF by 30% while they’re in the map.
As interesting as Fall of Abbadon sounds,I still wanna know about Thaumanova Reactor, anyone?o.o
Abbadon was a GOD! I didn’t play GW1 so I’m more interested in him, the reactor can wait. :o
AP’s aren’t truly linked to being a veteran or not, I know a lot of people who have been playing since beta and have yet to reach 10k.
Dunno man, I’ve been playing an ele since closed betas and I love the class, just wish ele staffs had more buffs to give allies.
About glider activating too soon after jumping, I think it’s because they haven’t optimized client/server sync. It should be somewhat easy for them to track the “duration” of a jump, i.e. how much time you’re “in air”, and use that average duration as a trigger for activating it, so it doesn’t constantly lock your skillbar and enable the “Deploy Glider” action.
This beta was better than the first, we had the opportunity to glimpse into what Heart of Maguuma may be about, and I wish the very first beta were like this one. The way day/night experience rolls out is sure a great framework for a map-wide mechanics/meta-event, but could use more tweaking not to feel so confusing. During the night I didn’t quite understand what was going on, there were escorts and I was overwhelmed in almost all of them, so I take all “defend” events in night time will require at least two-three people playing together.
I got extremely intrigued and interested about Vine Salvage Pit adventure, and I guess GW2 has found a sweet potential to grow them into something spectacular. It’s like Guild Puzzles and Dynamic Events had a baby, and the experiment was successful! I can’t stress enough how much potential I see there. Great job.
Opening more of Verdant Brink showed how much the map is fluid, and you feel like it’s moving. The difficulty of mordrem was a little better, but I’m afraid zergs may overrun them. Depending on how rewarding the map will be, and how much important “spreading” the zerg will be, we could see faceroll zergs re-thinking coordination and hopefully naturally create balanced encounters where going blind-zerker will reward much less, after all zerkers claim they’re the best gear reward-wise. Rewards should be earned for beating content as designed to prevent faceroll experiences.
The overload effect it self not so much but the other effects you can get when overloading or after you overload yes. So auras and -100% movement condition duration. Now only if they would add a bit more to the overload it self i love to see fields or more finishers.
But overloads are the first issue with tempests. Shortly after we got a bunch of useless/non-synergic/non-worthy traits. Other elite specs get a lot of yummy and hard-to-choose traits, and we get a lot of useless traits and we have to strive for the least worse among them all.
