Upon further reflection. I have taken the thread’s advice and decided to NOT SELL gifts for under 8s.

Instead, the next 25 gifts I will get will be not sold at all. I’m just going to give them out for free. So next reset, I will give 5 people 5 gifts each. Any takers?

Just for that I’m tempted to sell my 2 stacks of 250 a copper each…
posts like these makes me sick…
some people are:
a) unable to complete JP due to physical disabilities
b) unable to complete JP because their hand coordination is just not on par
c) truly truly truly hate JP

Calling it laziness is undeserved and pathetic, their own capabilities or willingness doesn’t impact your own.

A) This game is a casual game, and if you are unable to complete JP, that’s not the worlds problem, then you shouldn’t do it on the first place, you have choirs bell. That’s Just bad excuse on disabled people. Pathetic.
B) Check answer A)
C) Check answer B )

D) If you can grind money for it, then you can do Point C) and work your kitten for it, or pay normal price 8 silver.

“normal price” hahaha, whatever bro. I am going to start selling all mine for like 4silver.

…snip
They can’t create game in favor of people with disability. You have WoW for that, and see where WoW has gone after nerf-ing everything to the ground. If they start making content for people with disability,we would have nothing to play. Some people cant do content at all,due to their issues. Some people cant do Fractals or raids due to their disability…Some people cant do heart because of disability…this game is not meant to be for people with disability.

I feel sorry for those people, because i had to take care of them for one year, and i got to know lots of people in person, but that doesn’t give me for right to ask for MAJOR change,to mess up other people’s game.

People with disability have other game to play, that suits them.

I do not play JP because i do not like them.We did not have jumping in GW,so they decide to make up for big, big, big big failure.

If you look carefully at the forums you will see that many of us don’t want to be handed anything. You will see that, again, many of us want alternate ways of achieving these items.

I don’t personally think it fair that a genius at jumping deserves the item more that say someone that can defeat arah path 4, why not make it an alternative way of getting the item? It might even make some of the dungeon paths more active since they gutted the rewards.

Seriously ANet needs to understand what the word “choices” means, and so do some of the posters here it seems!

Though be fair, I am complying with these so-called laziness prevention demands. For now. Mostly out of convenience and laziness though.

If you can’t complete the jumping puzzle then you won’t have incentive to buy gifts from the TP, since you need a Wintersday jumping puzzle achieve for the shoulders.

During the sneak peeks and interviews that ANet was releasing over the months leading up to the release, one of the things that was pointed out (by Colin, I believe) was that even years after release people were still discovering things about GW2 Core (like you can /threaten Ornery Crabs and that would cause them to run away) and they really wanted to recreate that in the new maps. I can see that they did try very hard to do that and there are indeed some things you can discover… but there’s a flaw to their approach.

Namely people don’t notice small details when the world is falling down around their heads.

Few are going to stop to look at little curiosities when they’re busy repeating the same events over and over to get the map to Tier 4, or busy hunting ariship/wrapped/crystallized boxes/pods for the map-specific currencies. The first few weeks, or even months, that most people spend doing the maps will invariably be to grind for the rewards – and by the time they’re done getting the rewards they might be too sick of the map to actually appreciate those discoveries that the developers put in.

The maps are very much designed to be explored, the problem is the meta events contradicts that design by making the players feel like they have to rush.

It is only a grind if you make it a grind. I am not grinding the JP for presents to get things. I’m doing the JP because I love the JP and am good at it. The fact that it also hands out the best rate of presents it secondary. If it only dropped two presents a run I would still do it to the exclusion of all else because I enjoy it. The point where I grind is when I open those presents to get the alcohol to work toward the absurd goal of 10k. A goal I’m pretty sure I can’t meet by the end of the event in order to get a skin I’ll never use because it takes up the shoulder spot.

I’m also not grinding for mithril. I’m playing the game the way I normally do and gradually accruing mithril by salvaging junk, since I get a lot of junk in HoT. Once I’ve gotten enough mithril, something to the effect of 2500 ore, I’ll move forward in my efforts to craft Inferno through the new system.

If you don’t want to grind, don’t grind. If you want the skin more than you want to not grind, then maybe grinding isn’t a problem. It is entirely up to you. But no one, not a single person, not a dev and not a player, is making you grind.

You have to taxi to get into a map that runs the event. If you just zone in and stand there you’ll rarely luck your way into a map that is actually participating. Also, as said above, you have to show up at the right time. If you show up 20 minutes before the timer and look for a map you will always be disappointed. There may also be fewer maps that usual count of Wintersday.

It’s not a great system, but you have to work with it to make it work for you.

This starts to get really amusing.
Shouldn’t anyone with REAL interest have seen the stupid movie by now?
Other than that I assume the interest is just a put up reason to QQ even more. :P

I haven’t seen it, never will, and I know the whole story without even wanting to know it. Maybe I should start to QQ that people are killing my nerves with boring stuff I’m not even interested in. You’d give me the same advice: Turn of map chat or keep away from these people. So is it really that hard? O.o

I felt like the final battle was challenging enough for personal story content, but overall the whole chain felt rushed and short. Not enough time spent with certain characters to learn about their personas (except Taimi, they did a pretty good job there)
I think it would have fared a little bit better if they tied the personal story directly into going to dragon stand and hitting the meta chain there, as it kind of goes full circle, you kill the mental manifestation, and the physical.

Nice. The hardcore crowd has already beaten the final boss in HoT three days after release, the causal players are essentially locked out thanks to empty events, etc… Excellent job ArenaNet.

Please go eat your sour grapes somewhere else. Someone who has the time and inclination to spend playing through the story is obviously going to finish it before someone who doesn’t.
It’s like you’re complaining because a runner reached the finish line before you did, because you walked, except this wasn’t even a race. Good grief. /facepalm

If we are to disregard how horrible the fight was, then this is my opinion.
I was expecting to see a giant elder dragon, and instead we get a midget mordrem on steroids… this actually made me cry.
(I’ve read that mordremoth is supposively not really physical in form, but rather just all of the jungle… but still though m8 come on :/ )
Everything about mordremoth has been insanely great up until somewhere around rata novus. that’s when it suddenly started to feel rushed as hell. once you finish the extremely bugged rox quest it just fails to impress, since the last chapters wet by too quick, and didn’t seem to have anything exciting (contrary to previous chapters of the expansion)
I think Anet realised halfway development that they were running out of time or something, the ending was so freaking sudden it was basically “oh, you killed mordremoth kthnxbai”. I expected some kind of celebration or closure at the very least.
As for the open ending, I’ll leave you with this thought: Maybe, juuuuuuust maybe, we could actually convince Anet to listen to our feedback (though we really need to be constructive about it then) and with any luck, they choose to bring a final battle against mordremoth somehow related to the egg. or they could simply update the final mission into a dungeon or something, and add an additional battle in which you fight him in his REAL form which is a giant dragon that will make everyone hyped to finally see mordremoth in his true and giant glory!

What’s up with that egg? (I guess I missed its significance). And who the heck is Glint?

did you play LS2 or listen to the exalted? they go over it in pretty deep detail…

I played some of it (the free episodes). But if I missed it, it’s not that surprising. The only stories I’ve been able to follow in MMOs are the WoTLK lore (because Arthas was a cool character), and FFXIV’s story (which is my favourite). And I played WoW for about 7 years. I guess I like the gameplay more than the story most of the time.

well get on a comfy pair of slippers and a warm mug of cocoa from your impaled buddy, because this is going to be a pretty complex story.

basically, she is THE single biggest driving force in the lore across all of GW2 and a good chunk of GW1.

a long time ago, a group of snake-people called The Forgotten figured out a way to grant dragon champions free will, and tried it on a champion of kralkatorrik called Glaust (basically the original Shatterer). this newly freed dragon named herself Glint and it turned out she could see the future.

she created a book called The Flameseeker Prophecies (yes, the same one people have glued onto a shield) which told of the downfall of another ancient race, The Mursaat. naturally the Mursaat were not too happy that they were going to get extincted by demons and used the Prophecies to cheat by making sure the events that were foretold didn’t happen (namely by killing the ones the Prophecies called “Chosen” and using their souls to keep the door to hell closed). that ended up failing because they didn’t expect one specific chosen to have plot armor on account of being the GW1 player character.

she also put in a series of countermeasures to ensure that when the dragons woke back up, the world would have a fighting chance: the first were The Exalted, humans who sacrificed themselves to do what you see in HoT, the second was the egg.

sadly, she ended up dying because logan wanted to get in jennah’s pants rather than stopping kralkatorrik murdering crystal dragon jesus, though considering she was able to see the future, she probably knew it was going to happen anyway, the master of peace was in on her plan and was trying to take the egg to Tarir, but season 2 of the living story happened and caithe got the egg instead.

as for why it was so important to get the sausage and Egg mcguffin to Tarir… we don’t know, it’s implied by the ending that the egg either contained the blast of ley energy safely (unlike what happened with zhaitan, where tequatl and the remaining risen got a power boost, and potentially made the other EDs stronger), or it has become the “new” elder dragon by absorbing mordremoth’s energy (in which case, the point of the Exalted is to be the worlds best babysitters and raise the new elder dragon to be not evil)

she’s also living in Rytlock’s head now, and fuelling some of his revenant powers (specifically herald skills)

What you played before and for how long is of no importance to this thread. If you like the gameplay more than story why get interested in the story only now during the expansion. You have to start from the beginning. And not only GW2 beginning. Glint goes way back. GW1 actually.

Well having finally got through it I can say a few things [SPOILERS]:

I was surprised to find it was the end of the story – I thought the pacing of the initial part of the story up till Rata Novus was much better. After this I thought it rushed ahead way too fast and all of a sudden it’s like “oh, ok so this is it?”
The fight with Mordremoth itself was very tedious. But then I hate pve bullet sponges in general so I’m not the target audience for these “boss” fights…
The glider section bugged out so I had to restart a few times. But once the gliding worked, it was a relatively easy, but extremely tedious fight – ie a test of stamina/endurance and not skill.
- the scenery was as usual stunning. I’m constantly in awe of the environments the Anet team is able to create. Amazing.
Overall I thought it was a good concept of entering the Dream, and well done despite me not enjoying bullet sponge boss fights.
Sad to see Trahearne die – it seems his voice actor did the best job right here at the end. I actually like his character. Looking forward to the next LS to see what happens in the future.
Edit: for the record I soloed the end hence why I might have found it tedious. I imagine it might be faster in a group.

Your experience of story pacing summed up mine perfectly – excellent up to Rata Novus then it felt like I skipped ahead somehow to the bottom of the map of Dragon Stand.

That coupled with the lack of ‘epicness’ of the final boss made it overall feel somewhat wanting. I get it that his body is the whole jungle but some resemblance to what the trailer suggested would’ve been nice.

Overall the design of the zones are amazing. I particularly loved the design of Mordremoth’s spiral ‘backbone’ leading to his heart and ultimately to his mind. Well done to the team you really have set the bar high.

the spine part was great, if you know anything about biology, that is the part that instantly hits you about what mordremoth really is:

it’s not just a spiral, it’s a double helix joined by thorns.

it’s DNA.

THAT is the Heart of Thorns, and it’s even in the logo of the expansion: a dragon in a spiral.

that shape perfectly sums up mordremoth, it isn’t just a dragon, it is the underlying pattern of all mordrem, their mental DNA.

the second I saw that helix, everything clicked. if mordremoth is DNA, then all plant based biology in the jungle is mordremoth’s body.

and echoing everyone else: the ending was VERY abrupt.

you stab trahearne, get a cutscene of glint’s egg absorbing the released ley energy, and… that’s it. no epilogue, nothing, even visiting the egg after doesn’t show any changes.

I mean, we got an afterparty for killing zhaitan, we don’t even get a memorial service for Eir, Scruffy, and Trahearne, as well as all of the others we lost?

we just get dumped out onto a rock and we WP away with no fanfare or even acknowledgement. I hope the first episode of LS3 is soon and it gives us a decent epilogue.

It’s clearly not the end of the story. There’s still lingering things most likely to be filled out in the next season(s).

The egg being one obviously, and possibly the stoylines from the raids.

I also chuckled at how many times the characters and player character mentioned how easy Zhaitan was compared to this dragon as if Anet is admitting their poor handling of it and trying to make it canon.

I did like the story, but it does weaken the threat of the dragons if all it takes is a Vulcan mind meld and sacrificing a couple of notable heroes. :P
