Hi Guys, In this encounter, when you get into “main” you -pretty much- get stuck and can’t move anywhere as to not be caught in overflow.

So please take 5 minutes before you go to the area and spend 2-3 gold acquiring this quick list of consumables/pets. They are SO VERY IMPORTANT that I cannot stress how crucial it is to have them handy. (I am from the team that killed the wurm 1st time in Deso so please trust me)

Very easy to use, just use once in second phase! Don’t worry about the 30 min cool down as event repeats every 2 hours

Same with this one. During the heads phase DPS is so crucial that these are “ultra” helpful. Please acquire them before heading out to Blood Tide Coast.

Some suggest flame throwers too but I personally can’t use them very well so it’s upto you.

Also Respec for DPS (or condition if you are going to work on husks) before you come as there is no retrainer there.. Ditch the sPVP, support, healer, etc. traits and go for traits that give you max damage potential and a bit of survivability.

Take if you have your PVT gear not just zerker. First phase you can’t crit the boss, second phase you can go all out!

Of course power/vitality and crit foods, oil, sharpening stones should also be with you at all times because this encounter is an intense dps fight throughout.

And by the way ANET please do something about the 10 SECONDS of meaningless invulnerability during the 2:00 minute head phase!

REMEMBER GUYS, in this fight, everyone matters and you should come prepared to help your fellow players! Hope this small list helps you kill the wurm

Triple Trouble Achievements are flawed!

As have been noted before some of the achievements on the new Triple Trouble section are completely flawed.
I’m talking about Wurm Demolitionist and Wurmslayer, which really encourages the event to fail.

Wurm Demolitionist need 30 placed kegs to get the achievement which is a problem in its own.
However the main problem is Wurmslayer.

Even after the successful kill on Desolation of the wurm almost no one have this achievement. This is because you need to be at each wurm head when it spawns and kill it that time.
This encourages people to leave their post after successful decapitation to run towards the wurm head they still need.
This forces the entire entire map to either choose to go for a kill, or go for one of the wurm heads. Every time 1/3 of the server will then be fighting in vain since they already have the chosen wurm head kill.

I am sorry for this not being structured, but I don’t know how to put it clearly.
I just find myself in the position that the second phase wont get reached unless players go to the wurm they are experienced with, and that locks them from finishing the Wurmslayer achievement since they are at the wurm head they already have killed.

Suggestion: PLEASE change this so that everyone on the map gets the progress of a killed wurmhead once said head have died.

If i switch my signets, and there’s a skill in cooldown, the switched signet gets the same cooldown as the other skill. Let’s say i just used arcane wave, the fight is over and i want to switch fire signet for air signet. If i do it, the signet go in cd aswell, even if i didn’t used it.

So today, my guild failed a guild rush in Lornar’s pass because the players that happened into the overflow we were forced into didn’t succeed the marionette event.

As we were reaching the finish line for the final needed completion, a green lazer shot down from the heavens and wiped my whole guild; out of time, we failed.

I know nothing will be resolved from this, but in the future anet, how about only killing those participating in the living story events and not kittenting all over the place, and disciplining everyone for the failure of only a few.

You let down a whole lot of people on this one.

Please, I’d love to hear your solution to overflows.

Event on a 30 minute cycle so people are more willing to come and go from the map. I realize I didn’t spell this out—but I’m surprised I had to.

You do know that would make things worse? Players would stay on the map longer since it would be respawning shortly.

I’ll tell you what, you convince ANet to try 30 min cycles and if the problem worsens, I’ll publicly laud your supreme intelligence.

That comment alone tells me you can’t even create a reasonable response to the issue at hand.

I ask again – what would you do to handle overflows? They are obviously here for a reason.

In order to complete these achievements you have to succeed the Warden event (the entire event up on the platforms) without being hit by the Marionette. If you are hit, you don’t get it. If you fail the event, you don’t get it. Stay sharp and break that chain and you’ll have it.

So..in order to get what should be simple achievements, we have to not only complete the event without taking any damage from the Marionette while also dealing with the Champion Boss on our platform, but also rely on the other four groups to not fail their events, otherwise we get no credit what so ever.

…Oh sweet mother of poorly thought out achievements. Welp, guess I’ll be doing the Daily for the LS each day in order to get enough to credit to finish the meta.

1) Fun fight, great mechanics.
2) Bugs are really lame (test your content please).
3) Overflows/joining on each other/etc is a horrible design that nobody likes for these bosses (unique instances please...)
4) 2 Hour spawn timer - w/ the aforementioned overflow issues; horrible idea.

After killing the marionette for 4th time today… i was thinking about it’s purpose. It’s just a 2 weeks piece of content? well, then instead of keeping the wurm up and removing the marionette in 2 weeks (as rumoured), we should keep the marionette up (and optional: remove wurms?).

Reasons:
- It’s easy enough to understand by a newbie, yet challenging.
- It’s really fun/replayable since you can only fight 1 of the champions/chains per run (unless a group fails and you are in groups 1-2-3). That makes you wonder how are the other champions and try to see them.
- It’s a big awesome fight that makes players use teamwork and use 5 commanders, giving it some use.
However, the rewards should be adapted.

I am not sure about this but i “think” that most players will choose the marionette over the wurms, and we would like to have the permanent marionette to kill it in our world events rotation.

Any thoughs?

Yeah any of the other servers who have reached this point can kill 2 heads I think. It’s just that the other servers have equally split their forces amongst 3 to kill them all at once.

Close to the end of the Crimson Escort is a Phytotoxin cloud that you need to run up and grab the buff from it. This cloud only appear for a few seconds so you need to run to it immediately before all the buffs are taken.

WARNING: Gemstore skin salvage bug

Just be warned, there is a bug that causes any item (even exotic) that is skinned by a gemstore skin (such as phalanx armor) to be salvaged without giving a warning prompt.

If you are not careful when you are salvaging you can easily accidentally blow up your stuff.

I discovered this when I was salvaging traveler runes off a partial viper sets. No warning, just bloop and gone.

I believe the cause for this bug is because the skins themselves are only blue quality. So when your salvaging something skinned, the game doesn’t see that the item is valuable and waives the prompt.

This is same issue I still have. I can open all the bags I want, but it seems upon map change all bags revert back to their collapsed state. For now i suggest using ‘bags shown’ option but they’ll probably fix it soon.

No trust me its perfectly fair that i have to grind for hours daily giving my gold to you in order to play fractals and www while you sit on your pc making 100X what i do without even logging the game….

And is it perfectly fair that your gold rate through fractals/wvw is much higher than players who choose to make money through gathering or even map exploration?

Why don’t we nerf your method down to that level?

Did you read when i said cutting few trees gives more money that the most difficult istance in the game?

And for your info ANY profitable source of gold in the game was nerfed since release…

All but the TP, the no risk free pvp minigame that gives 10-100X rewards of anything else in the game at the cost of people who doesn t want to participate.

Hi,

Please could you ensure we get karma again for doing those 8 normal dungeons? Now with those bloodstone bricks etc, where you also need karma as they cost obsidian shards its not more then fair to get that back.
I still should enjoy crafting everything by playing a small proportion of the game (as I do not play pvp, wvw). And I am OK with it if it takes me longer to get all that crafted stuff.
I still don’t get why they nerfed karma at dungeons.
Can someone tell me? New players getting karma will take forever!

Because this game relies waaaaay too much on crafting and assembling gear than on finding it in the game world.

It’s much less of a problem in games where the best gear is at the end of a hard dungeon or boss instead of being cobbled together from rare junk that fell out of a trash mob.

Platinum ore would be a bad investment.

Linen price rose to what it was because it was difficult to farm. They only come from certain maps and it was more efficient to have a character in that level range to farm.

All ores can be farmed/mined. Platinum ore, especially, can be farmed since there are two locations in the world that can have two rich plat nodes within a 30 second run from one another. That’s 40 rich platinum ore in less than 3 minutes. Per character. I have 6 lvl 80s. That’s 240 ores in less than 30 minutes.

If platinum ore initially rises to some absurd amount, such as 7s per ore, then people will go out and farm nodes, pushing supply down.

If you want to consider the next ‘linen’, then go look at leathers.

Fractals and Karma

The following formula is used for calculating karma rewards from fractals:
(640 + 8 * Completed difficulty) * (Personal reward level – Completed difficulty) = Karma awarded
The (Personal reward level – Completed difficulty) factor is capped at 10.
All bonuses (from achievements, banners etc.) are applied to the Karma reward.

So:
1. Yes.
2. It pops at the same time as the daily IIRC, before you accept the daily that is.
3. Level 1 would give less karma than 40 but you also have to take time spent in account. If you have a regular group you are running with that is experienced, 40 would probably be worth doing over 1. Level 40 gives 3.2k karma more than level 1 which is roughly 50% more. If you can run level 1 twice in the time that you can run level 40 once I would just run that over and over.
