Add one thing that you see in game, a small little thing that just makes you smile, chuckle, etc. to show appreciation of the little things that add to the game
For me, I simply love that when I jump off a high cliff into the water, my toon screams the whole way down. makes me laugh every time
It’s 1 in 50.
I have been playing since before launch, and still did not get a single abyss dye drop. ^^
I was so happy to see my friend get back into the game after I had been encouraging it awhile… He decided to try, but his account had been hacked awhile back (without him knowing if the e-mails he got were spam or not), so his account was banned. This happened the same day a game he’s played for years said it was going to close down.
But I worked with him and encouraged him to submit a ticket and you guys got back to him fast and said you can unban him! Thanks a lot Arenanet! I appreciate that you guys really work with your customers and are willing to understand happenings like this!
…this is the coolest addition I’ve seen to an MMO. I know ANet took a risk in allowing so much time and resource to be spent on the SAB project, but the end is a resounding success. As someone who grew up on video games in the 80s, I am thoroughly impressed by how well the SAB has tapped into the essence of an old school game while also being a high quality release with a very substantial amount of content.
I hope we see more content like this in the future.
With Zhaibu ded and Traherne king, VICTORY IS OURS! oh wait
Also, big brofist of respect-thanks to arenanet for making a unique, out of the box event.
Welcome to the Super Adventure Box sub-forum. This place is your one-stop, coin-operated shop for all discussion Super Adventure Box!
LOL, the gateway drug to GW2. You should distribute it free, as an app. :-)
Well, why not? : )
I wanted to come out and say thanks to the peeps at ArenaNet that show this much commitment to the game, developing awesome content for free that not only is fun to play but amazes you when you first see it. I laughed so hard when I first saw the sprites in the open world, and much more when I entered the Super Adventure Box for the first time. That is months and months of working and iterating to get the content done and ready for the players to experience.
Lots of people spend their time in the forums complaining over and over of every tiny detail they don’t like about the game, but I think ArenaNet has done a great job with this game, and I know that they will continue to do so in the future.
Thank you ArenaNet for your hard work and commitment on delivering awesome content for the players. Keep up the good work!
There you go ArenaNet. If you remove the Super Adventure Box, people will die. There could be legal ramifications, let alone the moral ones.
Do what’s right.
21 here and loving the game more everyday
Yup and they use The Dreamer to target bronies, Necros for all the emo people out there, engies for steampunk lovers, rangers for animal lovers, and the Kraitkin for anime lovers.
My gawd, they got all their bases covered O.o
I know what you mean.
I was actually a kid/young teen in the 80s, with the first nintendo NES etc
This brings back a lot of old, wonderful feelings.
Amazing, genius job here Arenanet.
Us oldies who lived that era thank you for such a creative, heartfelt and fun april fools box of super adventure.
Seriously, I can’t take it anymore! The Super Adventure Box is just too much fun! Made me laugh (A lot!) to play a game inside a game! This is a very cool update ArenaNet, thanks for the laugh and fun!
Pfft haha!
P.S. A lot of bunnies were hurt in the making of this post.
Well it’s the best MMORPG currently, as was GW1 imo. So yeah. Dunno if you could say it’s the best GAME ever played though, as Suikoden 2 holds that title still.
the fact that u lvl up with crafting, beautiful. WvW its amazing. the mists pvp….needs more variety, seriously, but i love it too. the storyline, epic. everything is just really really good. i dont even understand how people can complain, dont get me wrong i read the threads and comments, but their all senseless to me =/. the game is nr1 without a doubt, this isnt even a biased comments cause i PLAYED a LOT of mmorpgs, and GW2’s nr1 status is no lie.
Yeah, we had a hard mode in, but had to pull it because it was tanking the perf on the server. So we are building some new tech to accommodate it. If we have another release it will have a hard mode option for sure. We are literally working on it this week.
I’m assuming that this, like the Halloween and Winters Day events, will be available every year, the reason I say this is because in GW1 there are Terminator themed quests every year for April fools.
If you enjoy it as much as we do, than yes, it’s very likely to join the list of content that may make an appearance again the future and be expanded on. This is indeed one of our goals of developing a living world with the game!
Seriously whoever the design lead/designers were for this event. Give them a nice big hug and buy them a beer or something. I’m sure it took everyone to pull this off but I seriously want to thank whoever it was that managed to catch that feel of 8 bit gaming.
I couldn’t have asked for an homage that felt truer. From the princess kidnap scene to the way the little sound effects to the way the enemies die.
Its hitting me in all my happy spots
. Its clearly been very well thought out down to the tinest details.
Even the trailer caught the narm/totally rad (and distinct lack of actual gameplay) from 80’s videogame trailers
I have limited experience with MMO’s, so take my opinion with a grain of salt…
Graphics: A- I would have given it a solid A, it’s friggin gorgeous, but it’s that sheer beauty that contributes to lag and culling issues…especially in W3. I applaud them for wanting the game to be playable on mid-range systems, but the graphical clarity lends itself to higher-end systems. Turning the graphics down to a minimum is kind of a bummer. Also, the pyrotechnics from a lot of skills are too gaudy.
Character Customization: C+ If I had to rate this on visual appearance alone, I’d give it a B+ or maybe A-, but how you look is only part of it. The trait system alone is not nearly enough for players to have solid customization of their characters. There are no attribute adjustments, and no real 2ndary abilities and talents(do the personality options do anything?). Add to this the fact that you can’t choose your first 5 skills(your weapon does) and you’re left with 5 utilities for variety. Crafting is very nice, although it doesn’t feel unique to your character really. And no mounts(yes…I know that’s what the waypoints are for). What’s up with all the pirate clothes? o.0
General Gameplay: A- I’m talking mostly PvE here. The maps are well thought-out, waypoints are logically placed, npc’s are easy to find, map icons simple and concise, it runs smooth unless you’re in a large DE. Moving while attacking has got to be the single biggest “omg this is so simple but awesome!” improvement. DE’s are pretty cool, even if they repeat often. Scaling is also very nice. Would have given it a A if they had fixed right-click targeting…or even addressed it. Y u no like mouse options ANet?!
User Interface: A Love these guys for this. Controls are easy to understand, the Options Menu is practical, and the “deposit all” option is a godsend. Basically, they’ve eliminated almost all of the annoyances in navigating menus. It’s easy as pie.
Combat: B The high value placed on mobility in this game is, I think, a great feature. Dodging, cross-profession combo’s, blocking, condition effects all lend themselves towards a very active combat environment. The skills themselves are pretty cool mechanically. Dungeon mob/boss mechanics can cross the line from challenging to annoying though. PvP is too zerg-dominated from a W3 point of view, and I think in general damage is a touch too high…you shouldn’t die in 2 seconds flat with 3 people on you(guardians and bunker ele’s notwithstanding :P). And stealth?…I’ll just mention it and leave it at that.
Personal Story: C- I don’t like saying it because I really liked the GW1 storyline, but I just can’t find much to like with it here. It’s whimsical, un-engaging, and rather childish. The 3 Orders don’t really mean anything, and the Zhaitan fight was a big let-down. I can tell they put a lot of work into incorporating the non-human races into the fold, but it felt contrived and forced. They should have stayed with the cinematics instead of the 2-person conversation screen. The mentors were meh(I haven’t tried with Tybalt yet), and dead before you get to know em really. I think I actually miss Koss…
It is the best mmo I’ve ever played though.

There are, however, several items in the cash shop that would suffer if people could just mail themselves stuff, including the bank consumable and storage space. For a game without a monthly fee, money has to be made somehow. Hence the restriction.
Wrong. Monthly fees were only needed like 10+ years ago when bandwidth and storage actually cost a considerable amount to buy and run. Companies just kept the fees because people were used to them and didn’t know why they were needed, so it’s basically a free money scam at this point. WoW’s upkeep and development costs are paid entirely by box sales. Just because other companies are bad doesn’t give Anet an excuse to be too.
So many of the negative post on these forums are from people who are literally not even playing the game anymore. No idea why they didn’t move on, but they’re here and they’re loud about it.
I wouldn’t have bought it in the first place. I have absolutely no interest in subscription games.
