Translated out of corporate speak that reads “we plan to do an expansion pack at some point but currently haven’t started but you’ll give me kitten if I say that so ill just tell you we have started and give a load of vague reasons for not having a scheduled release”.
I read it to say “we’re going to release an expansion when it’s in our best financial interest to do so.”
Edit: I personally take the fact that they aren’t rushing an expansion out the door asap as a good sign that the game is doing well.

well sorry that the game failed for you OP
a shame that it did, I have a lot of fun with the game
I rate this thread 1/10 just cuz I think it broke the text record.
The “Conclusion” is the only part worth reading just cuz it tells you the rest isn’t worth skimming over.
I would never ever pay a sub fee for a game – any game. Ever.
Nope, subscription is the reason I quit other MMOs before. I have no problem paying for the box or for expansions, even if the price is higher than usual, I am also ok with the idea of buying some gems, but no monthly fees.
No. I dislike monthly fee deeply.
I never payed a monthly fee (other than 360’s xbl) and will NEVER do. No matter how epic and amazing a game is, i will never bother with devs that ask me more money every month after i’ve payed their game+expansions.
I would never pay a subscription for any game.
Pretty much the same. I’ve stopped playing subscription games a while ago. If this one had one, I wouldn’t play it either.
No, I wouldn’t play a game with any subscription fee.
Cosmetics, and they are acquirable via in-game cash. I see no problem at all.
Personally I like the option of buying new things in the store. Some of the things I don’t care for, so I don’t buy them, simple as that. However saying that ANet is greedy by selling these things is silly, they’re not requiring you to buy these things, they’re just putting them out there. You can still play this game for $0 after the initial purchase, or you can buy gems with gold to get these items and still pay $0. The way I look at it is I can get 1200 gems a month for what I used to pay in subscription fees for a game that also sold in game stuff.
Aspiring Brotherhood [PACT]
Fort Aspenwood
I thought people were asking for dances to be put in the store????
“A release is 7 days or less away or has just happened within the last 7 days…
These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”
Behaving well in MMORPGs is a must these days. Not only that you will be ostracized by the game’s community, also it has repercussions on your real life as well if you say empty the bank or scam someone from your guild. It’s easy to investigate now a player’s facebook, twitter and other social media.
So be good and don’t be an kitten.

Thanks guys so much for the support, it really means a lot, Actually getting a bit choked up reading this lol. However, you guys are forgetting Fixi!
He’s been with me nearly every cast so far, he deserves just as much recognition as I do.
Again guys, thank you so much for all the support over the last week, it really means a lot, and it has definitely convinced me that this game can still become a very strong esport.
Ah, and while we´re at it: pls give him a GW2 poster for the background of his room
You’re our boy Blu!
And our other streamers and shout casters as well!
Building in more support for folks who want to support and grow the PvP community in Gw2 is absolutely one of our major projects right now, and not something we’re going to say is good enough and done as is.
I think the point of this exercise is that it’s not supposed to go smoothly the first time through. You use the first run to discuss with your guild what went wrong and how to fix it. Identify guildies who are strong at this type of puzzle and use them to train your weaker members. Next time you run, ask for volunteers to stay back and help walk people through the parts they are having difficulty with. This is how you bond as a guild. It might take a few weeks or a few months but eventually the weaker ones will get better. Isn’t this what people have been moaning about in this forum for months, that there was a lack of things to do as guilds? So Arenanet gives you something challenging to do as a guild and you’re just gonna give up after one try?
Keep this nice and short but this is the only MMO ive actually felt like playing. Im not an MMO type of guy, i played WoW for like 3 weeks got bored didnt like the SUB fee. Play EQ2 for a few weeks its was ok but very repitive. Both those mmos seemed dead for some reason
Gw2 im in Tarnished coast ive asked a boat load of question and my god is everyone on this server ready to help you out on everything, friendliest batch of ppl to play a game with ive ever seen! So thats a +1
The content and the enviroment keep everything fresh and feel alive the random questes are great. the map is really fun. im lvl 9 and this person came on saying some random contest on looking shanazy is being held at LA. so i figiured out how to get there and at least 100+ people where there showing off their attire and chatting away ive never seen this much commonication on WOW or eq2
for a b2p game i dont feel OBLIGATED to play and can play on my leisurly schedule which is great if your a working man like me. Arenanet i bow my head to you and all the friendly ppl in tarnished coast your amazing!
We’re trying something very unique and different with Gw2, and a lot of it plays back on the original ideas and concepts we had for the game all these years we’re trying to build towards and accomplish. It’s important to us to continue to try new things, looking at ways of evolving and innovating what a live game can be. In many cases, we’re learning right along with you guys how all of this is going to work for a live game, and constantly adjusting as we see the outcomes and find ways to innovate on what a true online world experience can be.
Living World is above all, the attempt to really give the sense the world is constantly changing and evolving. That there is events and content that change the world in the short term (like our current events) and events that can occur or change for the long term, which is what we’re slowly building towards in the future with Living World content.
Living world absolutely does not mean nothing but content that comes in and leaves again a few weeks later, and though so far that’s primarily what you’ve seen, it’s not all we will do in the future. The intent is living world provides us with a story and narrative experience, sort of like your favorite TV show, to constantly update and change the world and provide unique and exciting rewards on a regular basis.
We might have events that occur and came back again with a few modifications in the future. We may have events that occur and then find new homes permanently down the road. We may have bosses from a storyline that continue on forever as guild bounty hunts when a story completes. Living world also allows us the opportunity to upgrade and make parts of our existing game better permanently, a living world narrative could allow us to rebuild and change an existing zone or dungeon, or could destroy one entirely.
Our goal is to get to a point where on a regular basis, the world around you is not only changing in the short term through our normal event system, it’s changing and evolving permanently through our living world releases as well. What you’ve seen so far is primarily some tests and warmup stuff while we in the background organize the company to support this exciting future for our game, the future for living world is filled with endless possibilities.
Enjoy the ride!
The trait (Scope) actually does work, but it’s just not noticeable (+10% crit chance while standing still, where you have to be standing still when the attack hits) at all and doesn’t update the hero panel. We’d definitely like to make this trait more usable and visual in the future, as it’s pretty bad in its current state.
Wake up Anet, your game is starting to die.
Unfounded claims of the game dying: Check.
Claims that GW2 isn’t as good as GW1: Check.
Its like a pattern in every kitten ‘complaint’ thread. All I’m missing is ‘whar trinity whar’.
Nanuchka, norn mesmer: “BOOZEAHOL!”
Tarnished Coast – Still Here, El Guapo!
[NERF] does guild dungeon runs just fine ……. and it’s an all engineer guild. If anyone needs a specific class to complete a dungeon they are probably pretty bad at pressing buttons, so you are really better off by them not wanting you to go suffer with them.
It’s [NERF] or nothing!
Do people seriosuly enter WvWvW with the mindset of ‘’No one will attack me.’’
Scratch that mindset now, always think like this when you enter WvWvW; ’’I’m entering a PvP zone, I might get killed, so now that I have prepared for it I will not write a forum post about it.’’
Some of the holiday SPvP game like Reaper’s Rumble was really good. So why not make a SPvP game for the SAB.
*It would have unique controls and a interface.
*Dark scary looking maps in 16 bit style.
*Maybe make it a shooter like Doom, King’s Field, Castlevania Style
*Dark fantasy theme

Speak whatever language you and your friends feel most comfortable with. You will get a few ignorant people who may not like it but it is really none of their business. The only qualifier I have to this is if your are doing some sort of group activity where you have members of mixed languages. I would consider it polite to make an effort to at least make sure everyone knows what is going on if possible via a shared language.
