Oh and the primary reason I bought it was not because of the effects, not because of the unlimited uses but because I want to support Arena.net for making an awesome game. That alone makes it worth it.

If a.net is to keep putting awesome stuff in the game on a monthly schedule, someone has to fork over the cash. I’m very happy to do my bit for the GW2 community. I’m happier paying Arena.net a bit out of free will than being forced to hand over half my income in taxes … just saying.

If I can’t play Guild Wars 2 at work, I won’t work in Guild Wars 2 either.

Perma-Banned for exploit [merged]

I’d like to add some detail to what Gaile wrote above.

It was not possible to perform this exploit with an unmodified game client. Those who performed it knew exactly what they were doing.

As a normal player of the game, you shouldn’t have to worry that you might get banned for doing something that you didn’t think was wrong. We know it’s a very serious action to ban an account, and we don’t want to take that action arbitrarily or subjectively. Our goal is to only ban when we’re sure that the account maliciously participated in the exploit, or was used for muling or distributing the proceeds.

In this case we made a mistake and banned some unrelated accounts. It was human error, and we apologize. We unbanned most of them in a batch last night. But, upon reviewing appeals, we can see that we missed some, so we’re going through and unbanning those too.

We review appeals thoroughly. Anyone who believes he or she was unfairly banned only has to write to us to get a clear answer.

@ShiningSquirrel

Some members never comeback or leave for months at a time. An active and lively guild is important for most guilds I’ve been in. Otherwise, you’re just a random group of people.

Read my post again. If you have a guild of 400+ people and don’t even know who they are, they are nothing but a random group of people.
Guilds should be made up of friends or people you like to play with, not random people invited by spamming chat. If you feel you have to delete someone who has not been on for a few months, then they where not your friend, and you really did not know them, so why where they even in the guild in the first place? just to fill a spot?

Forget +1, how can I +1000000 this post???

And I am going to have to -1000000 his post due to the extremely narrowminded viewpoint on what a guild is. Guilds come in many forms, but the most important function they have is forming a community. This can be big or small. Tight knit or not. As such someone who isn’t actively part can be seen as a detriment to that community.

Very simple..

Those that want the Trinity should play a game that offers it and leave the rest of us alone.

These threads get old, if the game doesn’t offer the system you like, play one of the 10 thousand carbon copy MMO’s that do. Not like they’re hard to find.

There are 10 types of people in this world. Those that understand Binary, and those who don’t.

Tanks and healers encourage bad play and I’d rather not see them ever included. Just imagine how boring fights would be if you could just sit in the back spamming your rotation while the tank soaks up the hits.

1 thing I like about the state of gw2 is that everyone is responsible for their own survival.
In other MMO’s I played where trinity exists, whenever something goes wrong it just turns into a finger pointing game. Tank not controlling aggro, healer not healing enough etc.

Gw2 is breaking the trinity, because Arenet thought it was a bad thing.
Having to wait for tank/healers to join. Also the whole party depending on the tank to soak up the damage. If something goes wrong with the tank/healer everything goes haywire. Meanwhile the dps can just roll their face on their keyboards, because they don’t have to be very active, just do some damage.

Instead they made a system where every player has a somewhat more equal role. Where you need actively dodge to avoid damage. And where every class can heal itself.
This makes the playerr more responsible and also makes combat more active.

Which is better is subjective and for you to decide.

But no, they will not go back to holy trinity.

They already have the massive audience that doesn’t want the raids and the trinity. It’s a major design decision that was made a long time ago and at this point cannot be changed without rewriting the entire game. Revisit the issue when they announce Guild Wars 3.

This makes the playerr more responsible and also makes combat more active.

What this does, is make it so no one can do anything unique. Everyone is measured up in (a) DPS (b) the ability to fill in missing boons.

Dungeons don’t use mechanics that encourage synergy. If the enemies didn’t have increased HP and damage, it’d be no different than soloing in the open world. The one exception of course is encounters that force some players to pick up bundles or man static emplacements… thus denying them the one thing that makes them unique, their weapon skills.

This, exactly.

And even those weapon skills aren’t all that unique, when you look at them hard enough.

A Mesmer plays the same as a Ranger? A thief plays the same as a necro? A guardian plays the same as an engineer?

You talk about uniqueness and yet you want the game to go down the exact same path as every other mmo that has ever existed.

You want “lfg fotm, tank and heals!” incessantly in LA chat?

What you seem to be asking for is a carbon copy WoW game with Tyria skins. Forget it. Anet knows all to well that if they went down that path people would simply switch back to their old mmos.

Start a poll thread and ask how many players want the trinity in GW2. You will find you are in the minority, because many (if not most) people are here for the lack of trinity uniqueness the GW2 offers, even if it also causes a few other problems.

I met my missus in Kamadan (GW) about 6 years ago and this morning we had our third kid. I don’t know where or how to say thankyou but thought that maybe someone from the staff might see it here. That maybe someone who was involved in GW might see it and be glad to know that is some small or large way, they are partly responsible for brinning new life into the world lol.
Thanks you so much! Thankyou for the game and for another arena for people to meet and make friends and occasionally, as in my case, even partners. I could say so much more but as I don’t even know if anyone from ArenaNet or GW2 will even read this, I’ll just leave it there.

Thankyou So Much.

PvP Leaderboards F.A.Q.

Q: Do leaderboard names follow the same naming rules as the normal game?
A: Yes they do. If a name on the leaderboards is deemed to be inappropriate, your account will be removed from the leaderboards until that character has been renamed. Once renamed, you must then play at least 1 game to re-appear on the leaderboards.

Q: How is rank determined? Is it by wins? Win %?
A: Rating is used. This rating takes into account your rating, your opponent’s rating, and then adjusts your post-game rating accordingly. If you win against a very low ranked opponent, and you are a highly ranked opponent, you will gain fewer points than if you defeated someone above you in rating. It is possible for a player to have a higher rating even if they haven’t played as many games as another player – # of games does not guarantee a high rating.

Q: The boards have my ranger listed, but I played my warrior more, why isn’t it ranking me by my warrior?
A: The rankings are account based, not character based. We use your most recently logged character as your current leader board name.

Q: How often do the sPvP leaderboards update?
A: Currently, once an hour.

Q: Are the leaderboards character based or account based?
A: They are account based. The most recent character played is shown on the leaderboard, even though the ranking is account based.

Q: Are player ratings shown anywhere?
A: We do not currently display player ratings.

Q: Do matches in the PvP Browser affect my Rating?
A: Your rating is not based on public play matches, only tournament/ranked matches.

Q: Does leaving a match early affect my rating?
A: If you leave a tourney/ranked match early, yes, your rating is impacted as if you sustained a loss. Once you finish another match, this “loss” is then factored back into your rating.

Q: My rank is jumping around a lot, what is going on?
A: A few things can be happening. The leaderboard will only show your new rank once it updates, which currently happens on the hour. The system is also trying to figure out how good you are and put you where you need to be for good matchups. The more you play, the more “confident” the system becomes about your placement. Early on, you may jump around more until the system has more info on your performance.

Dropping out of games early can also cause your rank to fluctuate a lot. When you drop a game early, you are assigned a loss. If you do this multiple times, then you are giving yourself loss after loss. Once you successfully finish a game, the system assigns all your old losses back to your rank. Once the leaderboard updates again, all these losses “catch up” to you, and you may see a big drop in your rank.

Also keep in mind that other players are also playing and gaining or losing rating. It may be that although you have moved up a few ranks several other player have moved past you in ratings. The net result may be a drop or increase in ranking.

Hi want to take the time to tell again.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORK!!

I use to play Diablo 3, and i have never been that dissapointed with any company in my life.

Is just amazing how different are the things bewteen Blizzard and ArenaNet.

People like Josh Foreman that continues helps and answers users makes me feel that i really made an exelent purchase for this game.

The game updates like SAB, The graphics, the content, the classes, the different ways you can play this is just aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamazing.

I actually buy gems just because i like the company, just to thank them how serious they take their job.

This is the MMO i have play, and i hope people take the time like me to let the staff involve that we really appreciate what they do.

I dont really what to talk trash about Diablo 3 and Blizzard . . . but it is impossible since i have ArenaNet to compare. It is what it is.

Well anyways . . . thank you again, keep like this and you will have a client for the rest of my gaming life.

BTW Sorry for my bad english! xD

This picture shows a guardian using a weapon in their left hand, yet I have yet to figure out how to make my weapon and shield be switched. People in my guild says it’s not possible and I can’t find anything on the internet showing how to do it. If it’s not possible then why did NC-Soft release advertising art showing a characters being left-handed? Wouldn’t this be false advertising? Because I get really dysphoric watching my character swing his weapon right handed to the point I really don’t think I can play this game.

Lol you people come up with the weirdest stuff just to complain about the game.

Unofficial "Dueling" Area in WvW: Look!

in WvW

Posted by: Darx.9842

Darx.9842

Many of us want dueling. And since it has not been implemented yet, I propose we the players, set an area in WvW that players can come and peacefully duel 1 on 1, no stomps.

This has already happened. Last night there were 40+ players from all 3 servers in the same spot, dueling. People told their friends and guilds, and more people just kept showing up for the fun.

It starts with a /bow. And if the other player /bow’s, a duel can begin.

It was the most fun I’ve had in-game in several months. I participated in dozens of duels. Many were rematches and bests of 3. Many times enemy players would invite me to their party and we would talk about the duel, our builds, strategies, etc, I even added a couple new friends to my list.

I was there for over 3 hours. I witnessed no foul play, no trash talking, everyone was very polite.

The area this happened in, and the area I propose we set as our unofficial player dueling spot is the southern most point of a boarderlands map, just passed the skill point, next to the giant windmill. It happened to be in the green boarderlands, so if people went along with this.. It could always be in the green boarderlands.

Posting a couple pictures for you guys.

Has the game released an end-game yet?

The game has had an endgame since it first released. The endgames just may not suit your particular taste.

Is there an endless gear grind for “vertical progression”? Nope (or at least, I hope that isn’t planned)

Are there 20-40 man raids that take the better part of 6 hours and are the end-all be-all of what you do after max level? Nope. And thank goodness for that.

Is there enough stuff to do that after hitting level 80 at the 50 hours mark that I’ve still managed to put another 650 hours into my character and still be nowhere near done yet? Absolutely. Still trucking and still haven’t come CLOSE to running out of things to do.

Top 10 lessons from SAB

ZenonSeth.5739

Bored. Here’s some counters/comments:
10) Nah, its not anything 16-bit is fun, it’s ‘anything well designed’ is fun. To be fair, I found SAB as fun as some other content in GW2
9) Consumable healing potions are only useful if you have no hp regen. I’ve yet to use a potion in the middle of combat, mostly because I’m too busy hitting monkeys with my pointy stick.

You also should have added:
??) Making everyone equal, while having unlockable skills based on in-game progression (i.e. get to zone3 to buy purse) is not a horrible idea
??) Secrets! Hint at spot in wall to be blown up? Check. Hidden behind the waterfall secret? Check. Random digging that can give you rewards in certain spots? Check. All good, all fun.
??) Exploration based gameplay, with combat not holding center stage? FUN!

Are ye laughin’ yet?

If you had one million gold

OMG so many ideas

Ok

First idea-Using 1 million gold to make the greatest necromancer cult ever.

Find a random nooob player.
Aproach him/her and say, “Rise my Brother/Sister”
Use money to make him/her a prodegy of death
In return they follow your every order.

expanding on this

Use the money to form a whole entire army of loyal soldiers who follow your every incompetent order.

Create a necromancer cult. with exceptions
-Everyone must call each other brother or sister and must wear the same colors (black, abyss, etc).
-Everyone must yell a battle cry before charging into battle
-All Warriors need to wield Twilight.
-Everyone must yell “Help me bruthah!!” when downed.
-All rangers need to have pet ravens

Get entire guild to syncronize dance in one area naked in WVW
-make enemies go “WTF”

Still will be working on this gonna play GW2
