Balancing consists of the following steps:
1. Collect Data.
2. Review Data to see if Balancing is required.
3. If required, propose solutions.
4. Determine if solutions meet your goals, are realistic, and do not significantly impact other areas of the game.
5. Select a solution.
6. Develop the solution.
7. Test the solution.
8. Revise the solution if anything comes up during testing.
9. Test again if revisions are made.
10. Repeat 8-9 as needed.
11. Release Balancing changes.
Start over at step 1.
~I’m right and you are wrong if you disagree, this is not debatable.~
I will still play GW2 if there is no expansion as I have zero interest in the WoW expansion. I know all of us forum posters know how to run an MMO and keep a community intact more than the actual companies (we are just too busy to make our own) but I would think Anet is fully aware there is an expansion coming for WoW and that they will need to add new content/features to keep this theme park relevant compared to the other parks around.
Play whatever game is enjoyable to you.
Wild Star came out, which is essentially vanilla WoW but better and its already failed in terms of server health. Great game, absolutely no one is playing it. Forums are more acidic than this one, believe it or not.
In reality it only showed once again that the hardcore raiders are not the big mass of
players that they always think they are.
The big success from WoW in the end was that they brought so much casuals to play
MMOs .. and maybe around 90-95% of WoW playerbase don’t ever raid.
So in the end Wildstar was just a new game that caters to a very small minority, but
like always other players try it because it is new and they may think “ok i’m not that
hardcore but i may have some fun as long as it lasts”.
Its in the end the same with all those ex-raiders that came to GW2 because the were
bored in WoW ..
Only difference is .. GW2 looses maybe 5-10% because of that .. while widstar looses 90-95%
I’m basically playing because there isn’t much else to do at the moment – until Star Citizen comes out.
Oh .. is that the new hype ? Have Archage and Black Desert also already failed ?
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

To me the is like telling Harley Davidson that Chrysler is coming out with a new minivan and they better do something before they lose all their riders… O.o
Am I confused or is OP suggesting that these are the same demographics? Anyone else remember how GW1 trucked right along with not even nearly half the resources. Not everyone that plays GW2 does so because of ample updating to the supply of carrots to chase. Some just genuinely enjoy the game for what it is.
You’ve got to be REAL loose with your expectations if you’re jumping back and forth between WoW and GW2. Let’s warn them when Facebook releases another one of their ‘adventure/RPGs’ while you’re at it…
*Fail thread is a fail.

Wild Star came out, which is essentially vanilla WoW but better and its already failed in terms of server health. Great game, absolutely no one is playing it. We just recently hit china dude, the expansion will come eventually
That’s odd, it works perfectly fine for me. My 2 main characters have about 4 bank tabs of armour sets combined (and mostly the same stat combos too, haha yes I’m vain), and the dyes have been saved to the armour since when I started playing, at launch.
Are you sure? because it seems armor based for me. I’ve included 2 pictures, they are simply swapping armor not touching the dyes at all.
You’re definitely doing something wrong, I have two armor sets for all eight of my characters and I have absolutely no problems applying different color schemes to their armors.
Build a treb out of ac range, kill acs, build rams, take tower.

You can write a note, but what it does is edit the grey username. So for instance if I helped you with a JP using a mesmer alt, you could edit me in your list to “JPHelper” but then you’d never see the “Donari.” What I do is carefully remember the original name, and retype that with the extra note, e.g. “DonariJPHelper.”
A couple of addable symbols such as stars and circles might be of use to some people as well, so you can assign friends to certain categories. Even better: make it one of the sortable columns so you can one-click to get all the gold star people to the top regardless of their name or online status.
yours seem a little too precise for me, I prefer to get my dailies as I play the game
gw2 players don’t want to play wow, or they’d be playing wow :p
This thread is so going to be locked when the mods wake up in Seattle.

Every time a new game or expansion comes out, someone (is it you?) says the same thing: ArenaNet! Make an expansion or the game will die!!
Funny, Guild Wars 2 doesn’t yet seem dead. I wonder how that can be!
If this games keeps the players who hate wow the playerbase will be so small better hope for expansion or games dead end of story.
Proof? Of course not.
More people hate WoW than like it. WoW hate is so prevalent it’s not funny. If you can’t see it, you haven’t been looking.
And it’s not JUST WoW. It’s the amount of games that copied WoW and haven’t found the same success. There’s a reason WoW lost six million subscribers since its heyday.
As a devoted GW2 player going on her 2nd year now, I can only tell you that WoW will never be what this wonderful game is. For me. I’ve played WoW for many, many years before, and what I found in GW2 is why I’ll never go back, no matter how many expansions they push out. I personally love the Living World story, and Anet has done more things right than they have wrong.
So please, do not force your opinion on us, like I won’t force mine upon you. Many will stay, many will go, as is the lifespan of a game. But don’t take it for granted that we all feel the same way as you do. Or anyone else, for that matter. I trust Anet to do what they feel is right, and I’ll go along with it.

I for one can’t wait for the WoW expansion, not to play it of course, I won’t go back to WoW ever. I detest it so much now I deleted every single one of my Lvl 90 Characters & gave away everything I had.
I’m hoping all the people that want to turn GW2 into WoW will leave & let those of us who love GW2 play in peace.
Why do people make statements like this? There’s not only no evidence for this, but you know, there are probably as many people who hate WoW as who like it. There are entire sites dedicated to people who hate WoW.
At it’s height WoW had 12.4 million subscribers. That’s not a lot of people when you consider how many gamers there are total. I wouldn’t give a plugged nickle for the new WoW expansion, even if it were free and there was no monthly charge.
Now that doesn’t mean Anet will or won’t announce an expansion, but I think there are plenty of people playing this game who don’t like WoW at all, and probably wouldn’t play it under any circumstance.
Not all of us are comfortable renting WoW or have ever played WoW in the first place so yes, it is completely arguable. Many of us are happy with GW2, sure there are issues but all games have issues, this is nothing new to us. All you WoW players who keep complaining every time some other MMO comes out with an expansion should probably just go back to WoW and be happy until you’re bored out of your mind and come back to GW2 until you’re unhappy again and go back to WoW. This is the MMO treadmill, get used to it.
Just use teams of 4, with a dedicated taxier.
Exactly – it is not that hard to do.
Just use teams of 4, with a dedicated taxier.
@:“Is sPvP ever going to be more than Conquest?”
Yes.
@: Balance: it’s something we’re definitely keeping in mind as we experiment with different game types. Some things carry over just fine from Conquest, others become weaker, and others become stronger. It’s inherent/to be expected in having different goals in different game modes.
I can’t give out too much info, but I can let you know that we are working on a new game mode.

One of the main goals with splitting the balance discussions up into segments was to allow us to survey the feedback on each individual change more effectively. It’s a lot easier for us to sift through two professions worth of feedback every two weeks than it is to sort through all eight at once. We’re happy with most of the changes, but they’re by no means final, and like every other balance update we’re open to being swayed.

Hey everybody,
This week on Episode 19 of Ready Up, Josh will be joined by German shoutcaster ChroNick to talk about the International All-Stars Tournament taking place at gamescom next week, as well as the ongoing Tournament of Legends Qualifiers that will be wrapping up this weekend. Josh will also talk about his recent trip with the PvP team to Shanghai for China Joy and stay tuned until the end of the show for another installment of the Skill Bar with Karl McLain where he will preview upcoming changes to the Warrior and Thief professions.
Date/Time: Friday, August 8 at 12:00pm PDT (19:00 UTC)
Location: http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2
Actually, we split the balance update into multiple episodes because a single, 80 minute balance show was exhausting for both the team and the viewers.
As for content previews, when we are able to talk about upcoming content, we will include it on the show. Until then, the episodes will focus on tournaments and events happening within the competitive community.
