Looking into this! Back with you very soon.
Please try logging in again; it would be helpful if you did that and reported if you now are able to access the game.
In the meantime, thanks for your patience.

Tonight I will be streaming Guild Wars 2. The stream will be about going from level 1 to max level and we wont stop till this is achieved. This stream is dedicated to my sister who passed away on 7/28/2014 at 9:03pm EST. I invite all and anyone to come and watch whether your helping with donations or just offering condolences.
The stream can be viewed at: www.twitch.tv/quilcerin
Do training sessions for your guild and invite the server to come along
Congratulations Blu, you definitely deserve this trip!
Cool to see this kind of stuff happening. Just another example of how great this community can be.
Congratulations Blu! Looking forward to all the great stuff you’ll bring to us from Germany
Totally deserved it.
Congratz to blu and thanks to everybody who donated.
What do you think I would be jealous of?
Stop invading the PvP side of the forums. Go back to the Game General Discussion threads with all the other QQers, Random.
A shame. This community continues rewarding mediocrity too much, just because we can’t expect much better in a struggling game. It’s no coincidence Blu wasn’t involved in the best shoutcasting we’ve had yet — on Saturday and Sunday, in the otherwise terrible TOL qualifiers.
You must be fun at parties.
BLU got the help he needed, a special thanks to everyone who made it possible! You know who you are, I’ve never seen that much generosity to support the PvP community in such a short time. Seriously, thanks a lot.

Arenanet Forum Main Page:Be heard! Seek wisdom! Join a conversation with fellow adventurers, or start your own..
I was heard, and the wisdom I required was I was told to be quiet.
Joining a conversation and bumping long-dead threads with developer posts in them as an attention-seeking tactic are two entirely different things. A few people decided to start digging through the forum and bumping old topics, not to contribute to conversations there or post new and insightful comments to breathe new life into the topic, but to be disruptive and to try and “prove a point”. Since asking nicely rarely seems to work with the people engaging in this behavior, I made the sticky post explicitly telling everybody to stop, under threat of infraction, suspension and ultimately banning. If there’s a topic you actually wish to discuss, then please open a thread (if an active one does not currently exist) and do so. This is not a new limitation on what you can talk about, just a request to stop the disruptive necroposting.
I understand your frustrations and desire to hear from developers about what’s under development, I really do. However, as I said in the other thread I posted in today, we are unable to comment on features under development until they reach a state where we, as a company, are comfortable talking about them. So, when you ask “are you working on x” or “what’s the status of y”, we can’t comment.
Being disruptive on the forums (in old or new threads), making rude or demanding posts and posting comments like “there is no WvW team anymore” are hardly an endearing method that encourages our developers to post more. I would ask that you take this into consideration when posting as well.
Again I can assure you, the developers are reading the forums regularly, even though they don’t have time to post a reply to everything they read. Additionally, as I read these forums probably more than anybody here, I regularly compile reports for the competitive team to make sure they are up to speed on your concerns and desires. Does this mean your every wish will be granted? No, it does not. What it does mean is that the team is regularly being made aware of how the community feels about the game and what features, content, etc. that you like, dislike or want to see in the future. What it also means is that we take note of when you all ask for or suggest a feature that is currently under development, so that down the line, when it’s actually released and a bunch of people clamor to the forums to complain that “nobody asked for this” (you know who you are), we can refer back and be secure in the knowledge that somebody did, in fact, ask for it.
Now, this post has ended up way longer than I intended it to be. I don’t expect what I’ve said here to cause a sudden change in the tone or content of the posts on this forum. What I do expect is your understanding that we’re not just sitting here twiddling our thumbs and I haven’t enacted this rule against necroposting as some sinister method to justify shutting down the WvW forum. WvW is one of the core game types of Guild Wars 2, and as long as we have forums and I have something to say about it, we will have a place for WvW discussion.
Here is a list of Anet retailers. You can search by country.
Guild Wars community always had a vocal minority that everyone else avoided like fire. In my circle of friends we say “Don’t go to the forums, you might catch something” and that’s true, because there is a difference between constructive criticism and whining. I don’t understand wth these people want.
So far I liked how they reused the old dynamic events. It really gives people an incentive to pay more attention to them. Ending of the story was also very unexpected.
As a whole the new living story is interesting enough to make me log in every two weeks to check it out.
but this one grows as we continue through season 2 and 3… It’s not JUST a backpack lol
Thank you for sharing, I have some ‘corrections’ to make though, concerning the analogies. While I like the use of them ( @Anet Representative!) please do check if the analogy you use is based upon the right principle! If you use an analogy based upon some science, do make sure this science is actual proven fact (or near to) so you don’t spread what is basically ‘non sense’… it makes me cringe
On the ‘creation’ of water
Water is created by the chemical binding of Oxygen en Hydrogen, this is an exothermic reaction (aka energy is also released when the two combine) that needs either a ‘start up energy’ (spark of something will do) or a ‘reactant’ (which is platinum). The reaction takes place when the concentration of both Oxygen en Hydrogen is high enough for it to take place (hence we find both Hydrogen and Oxygen on our planet, even though the planet contains platinum and loads of places that are plenty hot).
A Geyser does NOT create water! A geyser is a geological process caused by underground volcanic action. It works like a pressure cooker: An underground cavity is constantly filled with water (likely from the top, so that the water flow also seals off the cavity), this water is then heated by the volcanic action and starts to boil. Once the pressure is high enough to break through the inward flow of water, the pressure is released. OR, like a thermal syphon, which works in almost the same way, though it would involve a ‘tube’ that filled with water, the water boils and from expansion pushes the water out of the tube.
This is different from a spring, which is a geological process where water gets to the surface either due to gravity and an impenetrable rock layer (the water penetrates the soil -> hits the rock layer -> flows downward with gravity -> exits as a spring), OR, by a process that can best be described as the ‘Connected vessels’, where the water level is corrected by a connection between two points of elevation, which are caused by impenetrable rocks. (the water penetrates in one area -> flows downwards in a tube of impenetrable rock -> due to the tube being U shaped, with one ‘shorter leg’ on one side -> the water then flows out the short side.
Seeing as Ley Lines are described like rivers, all these processes ‘may’ take place on Tyria if the conditions are right, and magic behaves like water. One hint of this might be seen in the CoE area, where there seems to be an ‘Eternal Faithfull’ geyser of magic being propelled into the air (unless there is another explanation for this ‘eternal’ flow of magic into the air).
On dark-matter
Dark matter is up until now an Unproven hypothesis to explain the rotational speed of the matter in the disk of solar systems. If you want to use an analogy for aether, use ‘The Higgsfield’, while discovery of the Higgsboson is still somewhat up in the air (‘we’ (as in mankind) are not sure what we found), and is only so far been suspected to be found in LHC. Aka. to be truly acknowledged as existing it needs to still be confirmed by an independent second control experiment!
But seeing the Higgs field is related to the Higgs Boson, where the interaction between these two in something that I can only describe as ‘friction’, is the reason for the existence of Mass. Which gives particles a way to interact with Gravity, to results in weight. This whole process can truly be called ‘magical’ in a sense, and the higgs field Omni presence can (from my point of view) truly be called ‘the aether’….
Disclaimer
I do not blame the person coming up with the analogies and using them, for these misunderstandings. Using analogies is actually a really good way to convey otherwise hard to explain concepts. And science is not for everybody… But I did feel the need to correct them, so that no scholars will fail their chemistry or physics tests…

In the right circumstances, yes, proper training coupled with natural ability can allow some people to sense concentrations of ambient magic in the environment and the people around them. This is also mechano-magically possible, as we see in the Asura Personal Story when Professor Gorr employs a device that measures the level of ambient magic in its immediate location.
Magic surrounds the inhabitants of Tyria like air surrounds us. We’re only aware of it when it asserts itself in strong winds and air currents. Occasionally we can (with fanning) move and accelerate air to do our bidding. Our bodies burn oxygen and air produces our breath.
Think of it like chi/ki/the Force. Tyrians draw magic from around them to fuel their spells. Some have learned how to do this more effectively than others. And yet, air remains visually invisible to us most of the time.
There are some assumptions in your question that I’m not sure I understand. Are you positing that ley lines make magic possible (they don’t)? Are you positing that ley lines don’t extend into the Mists (modern ley line theory states they do)?
Ley line study in Tyria has not identified the origin of the ley line currents, but think of them as analogous to rivers rather than geysers—that which flows (water or magic) exists, gathers, and collects into these channels. The ley lines do not produce magic (as, in my example, a river does not produce water but a geyser does), but rather they are the path that magic follows as it ebbs and surges and flows throughout the world.
In Tyria, “aether” refers to the metaphysical substance that occupies the spaces between matter and energy; analogous to the vacuum of space between planets as well as the space between protons and neutrons (if said vacuum of space had a magical presence to it). It is not a definable and measurable thing like ley lines, which represent the actual flow of magical energy through and across Tyria.
As such, aether is one aspect of the magic mortals or Elder Dragons use. It is part of the magical/physical structure of the universe, but unavailable for direct study—sort of like dark matter: there is something there, a presence that includes a magical aspect, which we can observe and verify from the effects it produces, but so far no one can reproducibly locate, measure, or study it. They’ve only learned how to tap it. If tapping a source of power you don’t entirely understand sounds dangerous to you, that’s because it is.
No. Krait Obelisks have some magical properties, but they currently have more power as spiritual icons to the krait (and the mechanism by which krait oratuss hoard political power) than they do magical power; the Bloodstones are literal embodiments of the power wielded by different magical schools of thought.
The only known connection between Bloodstones, krait obelisks, and dragons/magic containment is that the original Bloodstone was created by the Seers as a vessel for saving aside some of the world’s magic so that the dragons couldn’t consume it all.
The Races of Tyria
Not at this time. We plan to explore the culture and background of largos society in a future story arc, but until then we’re keeping everyone’s favorite mysterious underwater race mysterious.
Sadly, not much. Again, we have plans to explore the Ash Legion citadel in a future story release so we’re keeping any and all potential details to ourselves for now.

Hi, everyone! The spanish-speaking community of Guild Wars 2 had the opportunity a few months ago of doing an interview to Anet lore team. We receive the answer yesterday, and we think that was great to share it with everyone.
Enjoy!
Lore Q&A: The spanish community ask to Scott McGough, Angel McCoy and Bobby Stein
The Elder Dragons
The Elder Dragons are aware of each other, as would be any two apex predators whose hunting grounds overlap, but so far there is no record of them fighting each other (much as two overlapping apex predators can coexist, as long as they don’t encounter each other personally). Ascribing motives and reactions to them that we mortals can understand is a dicey business because they are so alien, but one of the most popular current theories among Tyria’s dragon researchers is that the Elder Dragons would fight each other (at least via their minion proxy armies) if they expanded into each other’s territories, but multiple Elder Dragons completing the “devouring” stage of their life cycles (sleep, wake, claim territory, devour all the magic, sleep) eats up all the magic on Tyria before that happens. It’s kind of a natural predatory equilibrium: the dragons are separated by enough distance and their wake times are staggered such that they are able to sustain themselves and return to their more dormant state without having to battle each other for the magical resources they consume.
The magic Elder Dragons use to corrupt things is ancient, powerful, and barely understood by the greatest magical minds on Tyria. There have been spells that could successfully cleanse a living thing of dragon corruption (see the Ruined City of Arah dungeon’s Forgotten path, or the climax of the Pact’s campaign in Orr) but they are not well understood, require significant resources to cast, and must be cast in a particular geographic location, so they are not universally available.
Orr is slowly being purified by Trahearne’s cleansing spell; it will take time, however, as Orr had centuries to soak up Zhaitan’s corruption. Even though Zhaitan itself is gone, its influence and impact are still playing out in Orr and its minions are still actively serving its interests.
Magic in Tyria
A person’s magical ability and familiarity with a given healing spell is far more important than the caster’s knowledge of the patient’s anatomy or the caster’s current physical state. An injured/poisoned/etc. caster has a tougher time mustering the physical and mental resources necessary to cast a healing spell, but once the spell is cast at all it will have its full effect. Think of it as a sprinter recovering from a sprained ankle—they may take a bit longer to get to the finish line and they may feel a bit more pain along the way, but they will still finish the race.

Not new. That’s one of Tricksy Trekksa’s disguises.
What they are trying to say is “READ BETWEEN THE LINES”. They don’t really have a problem with necroed threads
Exactly. The problem isn’t necroed threads. The problem is flooding the forum with necroed threads. One could flood the forum with new posts too. The solution is to restrict the offending accounts, not restrict the posting function.
not sure if we play the same game but…gw2 is definitely in top5 (top3? for me its no 1…) when it comes to customization. there’s tons of skins, and great ammount of them are really good looking. actually i love SE armor on my char engi, coe heavy and medium are great too, while i cant stand looking at those ugly cof oh-god-i-got-flames things. only thing we need is more variety. like non-coat medium/light armors/pants. we sure got enough of those. as for weapons i find it sad there are so many awesome sword/gs/dagger/focus skins, and so few not-super-ugly hammers, pistols, rifles or torches.
ive played tons of mmos, and in 90% you are flooded with clones. everyone wearing 1 or 2 sets of armors, rarely you can dye them (or in best case you can choose from few color sets, not even close to what gw2 got to offer in terms of coloring your armor)
and saddest of all – we dont really get any new ingame skins. i guess everyone would like to EARN them, not just buy from gemshop…
You aren’t going to find a game with better skins out there. Gw2 has the most choices in an mmo I’ve played. Not to mention most the skins do look fantastic. want a normal realistic set of armor? It’s there. Something more fantasy and flashy? It’s also there. What are you complaining about?
I’m not going to necro the the post, but a while ago, ANET ask us on our opinion about WvW’s future. Would we want (i) more involved feedback and small incremental changes, or (ii) let the team work and focus on it addressing the big picture in adjusting the fundamentals of WvW.
The forum here voted overwhelmingly for the latter. I think that also implied that ANET would not be able to have time to tell us what’s going on until they are sure of it being release. Heck, most game development doesn’t tell you the details until they have beta servers up and running. I think something similar applies here.
Does anyone else remember that post? ANET gave us a great game in GW2, here’s to hoping new adventures will come to the mist in due time.
So i’m wandering through Scarlet’s tunnels again… I’m a lore buff and wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything. While strolling through with my minion armada I wander across a lone Skritt, clearly using the infinite stealth exploit… Anyways I talked to him, wondering to myself “Why was a little Skritt down here all by himself.”
So his dialog was. “You. You will help Kritki, Strikka is lost, gone in the ground shake. Kritki is lost without Strikka.”
So being the right bold adventuring, undead summoning necromancer I am I ask him.
“What are you doing here?”
He responded with.
“Looking for shinies at first. Now looking for Strikka. Lotsa rocks fell. To heavy for Kritkri to move.
Needless to say it warmed my cold heart and I was instantly on the search for the little Skrits lost love… Alas I was unable to locate her, so I turn to the adventurers here to ask if you’ve seen a little Skritt named Strikka wandering around any of the camps. While I widen my search I hope someone else may have wandered across this refuge, perhaps posted up in one of the nearby refuge camps.
I took something like a 2 month break and was glad to see that nothing has changed. I could still hop on to a tourney with the same build and fight the same exact comps with the same exact builds.
People take this for granted and cry for changes and balancing, but they dont realize that when they take a 5 year break from this game and they feel nostalgic, theyll just be able to hop right back into the game and play the exact same thing. Try doing that with failures like wow.
Anyways gtg, my q for skyhammer popped. Thank you for the consistency Anet!
Well, for many characters the second birthday isn’t that far away. Almost two years the game is running now.
With that in mind, I wanted to ask what’s your most personal moment/relation with the game?
In a time when marriage-proposals or even marriages themself are held in games, that question can hold a lot of memories for people.
Opening this topic, I will start first.
August 25th in 2012.
My grandmothers 71st birthday. We did our best to celebrate it with her, on the intensive care unit.
At the evening, when we had come home, I logged into the game for my pre-order-headstart, trying to relax a bit.
Along with many other characters in GuildWars 2 my first characters share the birthday of my grandmother.
As a professional cook she had taught me a lot about cooking, knowledge I hold dear, and so the first crafting profession I chose was cook.
It wasn’t only the 71st birthday of my grandmother, it was also her last one, a week later she passed away.
Now every year, when I think of my grandmother at that special day, how we used to bake her birthday-cake together when she taught me how to do it and later, when I helped her once she wasn’t able to do it herself anymore, my little asuran cook is becoming a year older.
Human Female Mesmer: “Oh Marjory, I’m so sorry…” -hugs Kasmeer since Jory doesn’t want to be-
Norn Female Ranger: -stands off to one side awkwardly. She’s never been comfortable with emotional stuff-
Asura Male Elementalist: “My deepest condolences, Marjory. I- Is that vine exsanguinating the corpse? Where’s my journal? I need to document this for my book! Um, I mean… I’m so sorry, Marjory.”
Charr Male Warrior: -stares upwards grimly as he draws his sword- “Kasmeer, stay with Marjory. I’ll get Belinda down.”
Sylvari Female Necromancer: “Hey, hey, don’t be sad, Marjory. We’re Necromancers, we can get Belinda up and walking again! … What? Why is everybody giving me that look?”
Imo any of these ‘coming back to Guild Wars 2’ threads where they start off with something like “Is it still bad?” or “convince me to come back” are threads where the person doesn’t actually want to come back. The title shows their real opinion of the game.
In many cases they were expecting Guild Wars 1 Redux. The OP already said that Guild Wars 1 was the best mmo ever made.
His complaints:
He doesn’t like getting to level 80. – That’s still there.
No end game. – Not sure of his complaint there, Guild Wars 1 didn’t have a classic endgame either and that’s “the best mmo ever made”.
Didn’t like the crafting.- Still there, in fact it’s now level 500 for many crafts.
‘Boring classes’. – If they were boring then, they are boring now.
‘Insane server structure. (Gw1 districts ftw)’. – basic server structure is still the same.
Gem shop news.- no change.
Dumb login procedure. – hasn’t changed.
No level scaling according to him. – no change.
Support not responding to ticket. – He needs to read Not getting our Emails.
Empty servers. – ok. That is one thing that has changed with Megaservers.
Crashes. – he may need to contact support if he is having unexplained frequent crashes.
Truthfully, I don’t think OP will be happy in this game. Most of the things he dislikes are still here. OP asked, “Or just play gw1 – best mmo ever made”. I think he will be happiest there. This is not Guild Wars 1 remade. It’s a completely different game connected only by the lore. If you are not willing to accept it on its own terms but want gw1 with a new skin then it’s going to be a disappointment.

Dear A-net
The juggernaut armor effect is based on the light of a room, and not like a constant light source on the armor. Which is what I would love to see in the game, because in all nigth dungeons, I can’t even see my armor when I am holding The Juggernaut because my armor just turns in to a big black ball of nothing. I can’t even see the colour. But when i am in a day dungeon. I get that epic look on my armor which is why I build it, in the first place. I dont know if i would call it bug, but for me it is. if you ever read this or get time to chance it, I would in joy all the gold i put in to it more.
Hey guys! I really liked the old streaming thread, but it was so out-of-date I thought I would take the time to update the list. All I’ve done is delete the channels that didn’t appear to have streamed since the April patch.
If you were on the last list, but not on this and you regularly stream, then just post down here that you want to be put back on (I must have just missed you/there were no recent broadcasts for GW2).
As with the last thread, please feel free to submit streams below, this will be updated regularly.
EDIT: I’ll be following everyone I add to this list because I think GW2 streamers need as much publicity and numbers as they can get and I really enjoy watching anyone pvp. I will greatly appreciate anyone following me, especially other streamers and players wishing to learn more about pvp (I’m at the bottom of multiclass).
EDIT2: As the list gets longer, I’d like to trim down the streamers that don’t appear to be active. If you know anyone in this list who has taken a long break, or permenantly stopped streaming GW2, reply here, or PM me and let me know.
