The sad thing is that the dungeon grinders that cried about the gear seem to have already maxed themselves out, gotten their back pieces and rings and then suddenly went quiet between Wintersday and now.
I’d be willing to put money down on the fact that either they all up and left or that they’re the people who are currently crying about bringing the “Holy Trinity” setup to this game.
ArenaNet added a higher tier of gear for a group who has either left or shouldn’t even have been here in the first place. And all I’d ask them is if those players who demanded a new tier of gear have spent any money to buy gems. Did adding Fractals increase their income from that demographic to any degree? Or did it in fact only add a new method of grinding gold which that demographic used and in the end they never needed to buy any gems because they’re the kind of people who have more time than they do cash?
Am I the only one who read this entirely with mr. king’s voice? XD
There was a time when games were kind
When their stories were fun
And their quests inviting
There was a time before the grind
And games had content
And their content exciting
There was a time
Then it all went wrong
I dreamed a dream in times gone by
When loot was high
And games worth playing
I dreamed the fun would never die
I dreamed that games would be engaging
We gamers were young and unafraid
Our time not preyed and used and wasted
Games were merely to be played
No moderation abuse
No players lambasted
But the fat cats come at night
With their updates soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
And they turn your fun to shame
With development on their side
They’ll pillage and loot and plunder
You’ll lose your wallet in their stride
And all your friends will quit the game
And still I dream this day might be
The day that we’ll all play together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And now other games all look better
I had a dream this game could be
So different from this grind I’m playing
So different now from what it seemed
Now grind has killed
The dream I dreamed
This isn’t to be taken seriously, I just felt like doing it. There might be some honest feedback tucked in there somewhere (hint hint ArenaNet) but overall it’s just silliness.
Men of Science [MoS] – Tarnished Coast
A Ranger walks into a bar.
He dies. How do you know you have been robbed by a ranger?
Your cat is camping his corpse. Why did the ranger cross the road?
He was running away from the chicken.
Lol, reminds me of my EQ days. Heard them all. My main was a ranger. Miss those days sometimes.
I can tell you one thing for sure, i do not even bother with Jormag anymore, thats like asking if i want to watch paint dry.
What Anet did to jormag is just terrible, they took something fun and broke it into BOREDOM.
Sad that this seems to be the norm for there developing mentality now.
Thank god more people are voicing this side of the argument. The weapons are LEGENDARY. what does that mean to you? I think legendary means it’s suppose to be REALLY HARD to get. People need to understand that. And for people saying they arent better and therefore should not be any harder to get. Do you realize you are playing guild wars? Not wow? This game is about skins, not stats.
There’s nothing “hard” about getting a legendary, it’s just a gold grind and dumb luck, and the constantly increasing prices of… well, everything means that the absolute price of making one is getting higher over time and that’s just plain unfair to the people who were treating it (as Anet intended) as a long-term goal.
In the meantime, can we go back to the experimental alternative method you had a while back? It was so much better.
I disagree on this completely. I often found I couldn’t see my allies and we couldn’t coordinate anything. We never knew if each other were pushing in or pulling back. Frankly, they both are terrible. I’d rather see all my allies for more coordination and get a few of them to show up first.
You could still see the green dots on the mini map for your allies.
It’s way worse when you get the door down, charge into a keep and the only indication there’s any enemy there at all is the red circles that appear at your feet. Then as you’re sitting there dead “Holy kitten, there’s a lot of bad guys here”.

Mesmer Commander “The Lord Knows”
Fort Aspenwood
OUCH so does any one know if General Thevious was one of the ones banned?
Pity your question was so general though:
Q:Do you know the recipe
A: Sure making somenot
Q:Have you heard of how making 50 snowflake earrings and breaking them gives you 150 ectos is this an exploit?
Would have given you a better stance.
I would just like to clarify that the screenshot was not taken by me. I think it’s from reddit.
And the saga continues…
I’ll never stop beating myself up for not screenshotting the dev I asked in game about the snowflake recipe who responded “get it while it’s hot.”
Something similar.
lol…so a game made you be a jerk to other people? Why stop at blaming the game? Why not your parents, teachers, or even the government?
Why can’t people take responsibility for their own actions any more?
Your point is that the game screwed up so you screwed other players to get what you wanted without a care for anything that they may have wanted. Good job. Point well received.
Game Director
Hey guys,
Just to help provide some clarity on this, we’ll be releasing within the next couple of weeks a high level summary of our big plans for the first half of 2013 to help provide more transparency into our plans with the game going forward. This will include providing more details about our goals for the game, information about the stories and features that you’ll see in the Jan/Feb/March releases.
To set expectations accordingly, the January release will be a relatively small release that sets the table for the stories and features we plan to roll out with the Feb/March releases and beyond. Also, there will be no new race, profession, or new region with these larger Feb/March releases. One of our major goals with these releases is making our existing world as strong as possible, ensuring there are reasons to go to all the locations in the world we’ve already built, and strengthening the core game we’ve provided. In saying this will be an expansions worth of stuff in these releases, we’re talking about the number of new features that will be rolled out across PvE, WvW, and PvP in early 2013, which usually you’d only find in an expansion for a traditional MMORPG.
More details and specifics to come in the next couple of weeks, but I hope that helps provide some more insight into what to expect at a very high level.
Just to add in my observation:
Before the Nov 15th update I was getting the odd rare, in nearly every other play session. I.e. 3hr per day play session. Also, an exotic drop every once in awhile. Now since Nov 15th, I managed to find 3 rares, not in the dungeons though. Some boss drops, some open world mob drops (Orr).
However, the biggest difference I’ve seen is in the “Incandescent dust”/“Crystalline dust” drops. Incandescent dust, used to drop for me quiet frequently at least 3/4 per play session. Now, I’m lucky to receive 1 for every 2 play sessions. I don’t particularly farm these drops (I actively try to avoid farming these days,) I just run DEs which have alot of mobs (ok, Orr has alot of mobs.) But its as if the anti-farming code has kicked in map wide or at least on my account. Nowadays it seems that out of the 20 risen I kill, I get 1 dust, alot of porous skulls, maybe 1 item (blue usually) and mostly nothing.
The boss/vet fights were bad. I helped to take out the brood mother and got nothing for it. Took out a risen troll and got nothing for it. I really mean nothing, not even a white. Except for that 1 time when I got a rare.
I’m getting a bit disillusioned with the updates. So far it seems to me that they are little more than another way to try to squeeze as much cash out of players as possible. I don’t hold out too much hope for the Jan/Feb updates but I expect there to be even more gambling boxes that drop very little unless the RNG gods decide you are the lotto winner.
I can sell my data, 5 euro per mob/loot info. I didn’t bought this game to be volunteer and work for free for Anet. I bought this game to play it and to have fun.
So what about those players who want to be out and about in the world? What about those that like to farm gold on their own? Because no mater what anyone says its an actual 100% FACT that farming out in the world has been nurfed into the ground. And the reasoning behind it hold no water at all.
Solo farming? Southsun karka slaughter works if you’re a mesmer (Mimic pretty much instajibs them). Unid Dye farming from plants is an option, and if you know where to get the plants that have a high TP demand (There are ones that cost more than Omnoms), it’s a win win.
If you want to play completely alone, and save up a ton of money, well… why are you doing it completely alone anyway. Nothing waiting for you at the end if you have nobody to share it with. Even world farming goes much faster with a group.
Why should standing in one location mashing your keys to kill basic enemies be rewarded as much as teamplay in a more challenging environment like a dungeon?
The last bit made me chuckle. Dungeons a challanging enviroment? Mkay
And trying to imply you if someone likes to farm on their own means they play alone is kinda silly. I personally hate farming with others. I like to plod on at a steady pace while farming. But apprantly Im not allowed to because your on a timer for DR, thats if anything even drops before DR hits. People aint asking for a 1 kill = 1 t6 mat. They are asking for it to be reasonable. Ill say it again. if they dont want people farming. stop with the kittening stupid 250 t6 mats for sodding everything.
It’s the “you’re being punished for being level 80” bug. It’s as ridiculous as the “you’re being punished for farming in the same location forever” bug.
Or the “Why are you wasting your time doing something that isn’t fractals” bug…
What I don’t understand is why you people are still buying keys.
lol at even christmas cards being RNG
First there is no game economy in GW2. That word is thrown around like it is the neatest thing since chocolate milk. It is sexy to type “Economy”.
To have an economy there must be regulation, right now there is none. There must be finite resources, and regulation of those resources. Things must wear away, including all those nifty special items, this gives crafters a reason for being in the first place.
Money must have value in game, not out of game. Selling gold in a gemshop is simply wrong. Mechanics must be in place to prevent farming and grinding, Two things GW2 has failed at.
Right now there is a glorified trading post by the most extreme definition. Gold sellers post on the forums to try and raise or lower the price of materials, you see this every couple of days. RNG has no place in this game other than the want of the developers.
Want to see a working “economy”? Make things wear out, Everything, thats right. make resources finite, the game already has recycling to a large degree, why not take advantage of it. Mechanics can be put in place to at least make resources appear valuable or spawn in special ways. Things i have solutions for, why dont the developers, why not in the first place?
Make gold account bound and put proper mechanics in place to prevent guild gold distribution abuse. Like gold sellers bringing in a player to get gold by trying to bypass the bind to account rule, though i am sure they would have thought of that. Laugh.
Make mats for big ticket items bind to account. Change the drop mechanics, this needs to be changed anyway, RNG and DR need to go.
There are plenty of ways to make a semi working economy, leaps and bounds better than what there is now, but the gem shop would suffer because of these built in mechanics if they were to be changed.
Everything revolves around the gemshop. Thats why things are so kittened up (typed kitten on purpose).
We all understand the need for Anet to make money but really, what kind of people RNG a gemshop when customers use real money, not ingame gold. That issue by itself is too funny, just saying.
Only good spider is a dead spider
Yes, I have an intense dislike of spiders
You need pair of Scissors
There’s a reason why no other game does this. Penalizing players for how they want to play is never a good idea.

Question: Did she take an arrow to her knee and lost her chance to be an adventurer?
All joking aside, Whether the thread dies or not is irrelevant at this point. A 20+ page topic is something Anet staff discusses most likely every day in the office.
Unless they mod the office
We thank you for you feedback however we feel there are better ways to express your point more in keeping with office policy you have recived one infraction point, further infractions may limit you acess to the coffee machine.
Your desk will now be merged with the fire escape.
This made me laugh out loud literally LOL. Good one!
“please send us a memo to bob’s office via the mail room if you think this infraction is in error.”
Anyway I hope sometime soon they give us some answers about this whole loot issue this thread is getting huge. I personally haven’t seen an increase, they said they increased the bag drop rate but the bags are almost never drop for me so I can’t get the T6 mats from nonexistant bags, and we still have yet to see an increase in rares maybe my account is one of the ones with the perma DR on it since this is all I do all day. I tried going from place to place, didn’t increase my drops at all.
