I have read everything you wrote. I’d like my 10 gold now please.
“it doesn’t make you spend hours preparing to have fun, rather than having fun”
Guild missions say otherwise.
I’m not sure what you guys think of it, but I for one don’t enjoy it so much.
Did you ever go hunting in real life?
Imagine you shoot a turkey, rush to recover the body just to find a ticket in its place that says “Collect 743 of these to exchange with a real Turkey at your local market”.
Now imagine the reaction of the hunter.Similarly, I get more enjoyment to hunt mobs for the hope of rare loot (good old req8 golds?), rare skins, rare materials.
The shift nowadays seems to be that you need to complete X a specific number of times to get an item, there is no real epicness about this. Why can’t the Ice Elemental boss drop a rare Ascended Icy Dragon Sword/Staff with an unique built-in mod, or the colossus boss drop his Ascended Cultist Hammer with his own mod?
Nah, they’re just things to kill fast so you get the tokens.“Hey look, I looted this Shaman Staff off the Grawl Shaman himself! Very rare!”
“Hey look, I got this Shaman Staff from the vendor for 837 token I gained by rushing fractals”
There’s a big difference imo.TL;DR Please add a minimal chance for bosses to drop epic unique gear.
because RNG is an archaic kittenty system, designed to reward only the biggest of biggest farmers that play for hours and hours on end, I for one don’t see that as fun at all and (imo) most gw2 players feel the same
If a rare weapon drop is luck-based and RNG reliant, and you kill a certain mob that drops it over and over again to acquire such drop, it is farming, no?
But if i do a specific dungeon run, or doing daily achievements over and over again to finally get the xxx amount of tokens in exchange for that rare weapon, is it not farming still? yes?
RNG can be bad for some systems like gemstore boxes and chests since you paid for it, you can’t just rely on stupid RNG to get what you want.
But RNG seems to be an okay system in loot drops, since as stated by the OP, it gives that feeling of epicness when you loot a rare drop from a boss or something.
Farming for tokens however DOES make sure that your efforts payoff and you know that someday, you will get the amount of tokens needed to finally exchange for the weapon or armor you like, but it doesn’t seem to be different from what you are stating to be hours and hours of farming designed to reward only the biggest of biggest farmers that play for hours and hours on end. Think about it.
later. It doesn’t care that I’m there.”
I wonder if Anet learned anything from all the people who got frustrated with RNG in the last several holidays and will just sell the backpack directly instead of hiding it in a box
You can buy the quaggan backpack straight from the gem store.
Once got kicked out of a dungeon speedclear guild party, they said: warriors only.. Says enough.
Because you can be really bad and still outperform 70% of the other professions at the same skill level.
Hello, I’m here to crush your dreams.
There will be no mounts coming with the Flame and Frost story arc.
Also, to address further speculation we’ve seen about the concept art for Flame and Frost (and what it may portend): there will be no Cantha and no dragons coming with the Flame and Frost story arc, either.
Thank you.
But you haven’t ruled out unicorns.

How can you call doing something a thousand times a “journey” and not a grind? There’s nothing different or unique about doing that vs. everything else in the game. There is nothing about it that makes it “legendary” by any stretch of the definition.
Then point me to all those MMOs where you feel legendary for having gotten an item.
He said nothing about it feeling Legendary. He said there’s nothing that makes the current Legendary weapons Legendary.
By definition, something that is Legendary usually has some sort or story attached in how they were made / gained:
- Excalibur was pulled out of the stone / given by the Lady in the Lake, depending on the story.
- Naegling was gained by Beowulf when he slayed Grendel and his mother.
- Longinus was supposedly the spear that pierced Christ’s side.
- Caladbolg was supposedly able to cleave hills and left a rainbow trail.
And then we got fictional weapons:
- The Elder Wand was supposedly crafted by Death.
- Vorpal Sword, which was use to slay the Jabberwocky
- Narsil, which cut the One Ring from Sauron’s finger.
As it stands in game, the level 6 accessory Pyre Fierceshot’s Arrow has more history than the current Legendary weapon (save for maybe The Flameseeker Prophecies shield).
The majority of people aren’t asking to make it easier. We’re asking that they actually have a story, and that it isn’t so dependant on gold and RNG.
This^
I never complained to make it easier…
I want a reason to aspire to get it other then farming a dungeon or buying it straight off the AH.
Theres nothing legendary in that.
Again with this?
There is no such thing as a legendary “grind” because you’re not meant to grind them, you’re meant to save for them in the very long run – infact, legendaries are merely aesthetic so I don’t see why one would want to grind them.
Also, if they didn’t require a lot of time to aquire they would lose the point of being legendaries. If you decide to grind 25 hours a day for something that’s just aesthetic you’re really messed up.
Can’t save for something over the very long run when the trend lines between average gold intake and precursor price are rapidly diverging.
Anyone who feels “special” with a legendary in their current state needs to ask sane people what they think.
Whenever I see a legendary in gw2, i think “gold buyer”, whereas, even in the dark regions of WoW, at least someone with a legendary has to have:
A – a supportive guild
B – the capacity to take their tongue off a frozen flagpole while in combat
C – experience in most of endgame
I look with disdain on people who have legendaries in this game because it involves zero skill, and either insanely good luck (of getting one of the “lucky” accounts with anti-dr) or a fat wallet.
The idea behind the legendary was, if you play the game very well, all over the place and for a long time, you will be able to get a legendary. YOU make it a grind because you are making it a goal instead of letting it happen naturally. That is all sir.
But the problem, and the reason why some players like me have been so heated against legendary weapons is this. When you see a player walking around with a legendary you think:
“Woah, he’s got Frostfang. That must mean he mined his rear end off, killed far too many Ice Elementals (amongst other things), and did HotW a lot, and had some pretty insane luck. Either that or he has a mountain of gold.”
What players are not saying though is:
“Woah, he’s got Frostfang. That must mean he located the Hidden lore of Frost, killed the Frost Reaver, he got to Frostfang and killed it to get the direwolf’s tooth. He collected all ten undying shards in the ice caverns and outlasted the Element of Frost’s challenge. He completed the entire deeper caverns, meaning he did the dire jumps, got the three freezing sickles within the time limit, defeated Gharr’s minions, and outran Gharr to enchant the tooth of Frostfang. Finally, completing the three sickle’s rituals at the end of each HotW expl paths.”
Which of these two sound more epic and befitting a weapon worth calling itself legendary?

Basic Precision:
916 / 21 = 43,6% crit chance
You got it wrong, the first 916 basic Precision DOESN’T COUNT at all. They’re there… but they don’t mean anything. At 916 you have 4% chance, and AFTER THAT you get +1 for each 21 points. If they counted for anything, everyone would be critting all the time, and that’s not true. If you don’t invest on precission, you rarely see the red splash around your numbers that indicate a critical hit.

I really think it is more fun having good competition then moving to be in first. Like this first part of this week was really close and was some of the best WvW i’ve had so far in this game. Was a ton of fun.
You know honestly, I loved this tier’s battles up to this point. From the crazy close competition with SoS, to the month-long fight with BG, to the current situation, all of the fights have been challenging and fun!
Most importantly though is the amount of respect for each other this tier seems have in the forums. Sure, there is the occasional troll and sometimes heated rivalries, but I have yet to see this thread get shut down in a long time. Can’t really say that for T1, and I can’t speak for the other tiers but I really love this place.
If we keep T2 competitive and close, I personally would love just to stay here, whether we are green, blue, or red doesn’t matter. What matters is the fun along the way.
All this to say, I really hope you guys get some guilds as well to even out your coverage. You have worked hard as we have to get to this point and you deserve to be competitive here.
EDIT: And I won’t speak for all Rallians, but I feel that most of my friends here feel the same way. They are here for the battles, wherever they may be.

Dear everyone. Please stop using the “quote” button, then using the entire 2 page long post and or video every time you reply to something. This current thread would only be 12 pages if it weren’t for the same video, or the very long rp post getting quoted 7 times back to back. I appreciate your help in this simple yet effective way to combat full threads and easier to read posts.
Love ,
Your best friend,

Hey all,
I like to play with randoms sometimes. It’s often a great way to meet new people and learn new ways of doing things. I agree, sometimes things can go horribly wrong, but I find that mostly people are pretty nice, and it’s enjoyable to play together.
I’ve only got one thing I’d like to bring up about this:
I’m constantly being asked by randoms to exploit glitches, especially in Fractals of the Mists. And sometimes, players actually get upset and rage when I decline.
Think about this.
You may have noticed that ArenaNet bans people who exploit.
It’s extremely rude to ask someone to risk a ban just to make your dungeon easier. It’s very presumptuous to assume that you have the right to risk someone else’s account.
If you’re with randoms, Do not ask people to exploit glitches. Ever.
Just play the game, and if you find a bug, report it.
Sooo…with all the bugs, glitches, exploits, and myriad ways to improve the game…they decide to nerf aoe. I would have liked to have been at that meeting.

@Slither
Even if they put rewards on killing mobs, most of these skippers are farmers, they will not care, they will skip it anyways because the faster they do the fast they get. Instant rewarding, a problem created to make society pay more for one thing in credit card than store the money and wait to pay cash with a big discount. Even if you use mathematic to show them that it´s more rewarding than skip they will just not listen (or read…).
It’s not. Some people just like forcing their playstyle on others.
Both sides could use that same argument.

Lol, those rams remind me of a Newton’s Cradle. Maybe if we pull the last one in line, we can take out the door of the next tower over.

Is it true chickens drop Dusk?
There is an event in Orr – Kill the Veteran chickens. They are surrounded by smaller ones as well. After killing a small one, maggets spawn. I once killed a magget and got a rare! 0_o

I’m not sure what kind of discussion you’re looking to spark, since all I see is a post you made to give yourself a public pat on the back.
Define your legit/non speculative way to save up 500+ G in 1 month….
You can grind shelt/pen hardcore for a week and a half and get 500G. You can easily get that in a month.
I farm those events with guildies and each of us net around 2.5 – 3g an hour, with almost maxed MF gear and guild banners/buffs on. That’s as good as it gets.
To get 500g in a week and a half you have to farm for 6.94 days straight(500g/3g/h)
Are you really telling me that you farm for 7 days out of a week and a half to get 500g?
500g in a month is realistic. In a week and a half, if you really do that then i really feel sorry for you for the sole reason that you actually risk getting a heart attack/stroke.
What i do think is that you are exaggerating beyond belief

This isn’t the manipulators fault. This is about %50 of the population’s fault.
Everybody and their mother wants a legendary. Anet never intended everybody to have a legendary. So the game is brand new, the chance of getting a legendary is horridly small which is what is driving the price through the roof. The demand is huge and the supply is ridiculously small.
Anet stand by only a SELECT number of people having a legendary, so they are trying to lower demand by adding ascended gear and letting players focus on that for a little. I don’t play enough to get a legendary so I don’t even try. That allows me to just play the game how I want instead of whining about prices and slaving away at events.
If thats true why do some players have like 5 of them?
The recent announcement about the future of Guild Wars 2 had a screenshot showing some of the currently idealized items we will be able to buy with the achievement tokens, as seen here. We have been told that we will get one token per daily, and ten tokens per monthly achievement (source). In the screenshot above, we see some items which purposes are not exactly obvious, such as the “Guardian Gear” box, the “Warrior Gear” box, and etc; they are currently somewhat cheap, only 5 tokens per box. In a recent interview with someone else from ArenaNet, it was mentioned how the rewards for map completition are somewhat random, and often cannot be used by the profession of the character doing the map completition; the ArenaNet developer mentioned how they thought that was an issue.
Now, we know little about this feature. Everything in that screenshot is subject to change, the amount of tokens earned is subject to change, and we have no idea what those “Profession” Gear boxes are.
I would like, then, to raise the idea that “Profession” Gear boxes are intended to work as a lottery: opening them would give a random item useful for a given profession (opening the Guardian Gear box could give someone a random rare scepter or a random exotic shield or a random blue sword, but it would never give a bow, for example).
If that’s the case: I would kindly ask ArenaNet to rework how those things work, considering how GW2 already has waaay too much “random number generators” as the game is. We don’t need some new kind of lottery.
(“Why are you asking ArenaNet to change a feature they have barely talked about, and that you really know next to nothing about?” Simple: because this is a kind of thing easier to change now than after it’s released. ArenaNet is less likely to remove a lottery after it has been implemented in the game and used by hundreds of players than before it were implemented in the first place.)

Do you even lift, bro?
The only people who have legendary weapons are bots, gold buyers/farmers, Trading Post terrorists, and people who have lots of real life money to spend on gems.
If you consider that a good thing then im shocked.
Legendaries should be hard to get, but they should require skill, not big wallets and exploits.
